Actually. That's probably a challenge puzzle, the finished product doesn't have an edge or corner pieces, but they put extra in the box to make things difficult. Like this https://www.amazon.com/Impossible-750-Piece-Cow-Country-Puzzle/dp/B00005S0J5

u/blacksheep998 · 21 pointsr/WTF

That would be a tricky one, but it could be done. It doesn't appear to be double-cut, meaning that you can tell which side of each piece is top. I've done double sided puzzles Where you can't tell what side of a piece goes up.

With this one, start with the middle piece and work outwards along the spiral. Just keep trying curved pieces at random until one fits. Once you're done that the corners and edges seem to be fairly easy. Filling in the spaces between the spiral and the edges will be the toughest part.

Is this a real puzzle for sale somewhere? I think I might like to try it.

u/ThatsMyHoverboard · 21 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

I would've gone on a murderous rampage before I could ever finish this puzzle. Holy shit, I'd have such a god damn hard time.

Also, if you want to buy the puzzle, I found it for about $15 on Amazon.

So, as someone whose done some decently difficult puzzles, it may not be as bad as people think. I'm not saying it's not hard, or not time consuming but a lot of it depends on certain design aspects.

For example, the edges are usually easy for obvious reasons. Looking at the video it looks like the pieces are cut somewhat uniquely, this means that while sorting from color can be a little more difficult, though not impossible since the color probably won't change too much if you always sit in the same spot, you can also sort by size, shape, number of sides with cutouts versus tabs, etc.

Granted you're probably going to be doing a bunch of brute-forcing from there but if you really take the time to organize your pieces it usually isn't as bad as people think. That's coming from someone who finished this one which a lot of people seem to feel is difficult.

It has a side with some images on it so it wouldn't be that bad.

The impossibles puzzle that /u/Nachteule posted does look a little crazy though

This is what I use. It's not a table, but you can take the board out and put it wherever you like, then just zip it back up when you're done working on it. I haven't done any 1500 piece puzzles on it yet, but it's been great for 1000 pieces.

I have 2 of these! The are called impossibles IIRC. One of them was a bunch of golf clubs and the other was fishes. They are digital patterns designed to mess with you (as if the rest was not enough).

EDIT: Found one on amazon!

u/Trenin · 3 pointsr/puzzles

Having puzzles cut the same way is not unheard of. There are instances where it happens. The OP did say they were identical, so this assumption is perfectly valid.

As for being easy to locate a piece in the finished puzzle, that doesn't seem too far fetched. Take a new piece and hold it over the finished puzzle. Locate the general area the piece looks like it belongs in based on the colours/patterns of the piece and the picture of the other puzzle. A 500 piece puzzle is about 22 or 23 pieces square. If you can narrow down your search to one eighth of the original puzzle right away based on colour (e.g. blue sky piece as opposed to green grass), you only have to scan an area about 8x8. This can be done pretty quickly. When you find the matching piece, place the new piece directly on top. Repeat with all the pieces until you have finished the second puzzle directly on top of the first.

This obviously doesn't work for some puzzles, but I would consider these edge cases. It should work for most scenic puzzles.

Why do my assumptions bother you so much?

u/prshredder000 · 3 pointsr/pics

Impossibles - http://www.amazon.com/Impossible-750-Piece-Cow-Country-Puzzle/dp/B00005S0J5 has no edges, and includes extra pieces that do not even fit the puzzle.

u/VoilaVoilaWashington · 3 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

There are a few puzzle types that make that claim. Another potential winner of hardest puzzle is the one that's all white, or some that are supermassive.

So let's combine them. 10 000 pieces, all white on both sides, with pieces cut so they fit together on one side, but then the rest of the puzzle doesn't fit together.

u/GloverAB · 3 pointsr/gaming

The silver one up top is called Krypt, and it's made by Ravensberger so it's actually pretty great quality.

Edit: Also white hell and black hell

Well, as a father of 2 toadlers that loves soloing long games such as Mage Knigt, Anachrony, I faced a similar predicament last year and I found something that changed forever my solo boardgaming hobby : https://www.amazon.com/JIGSORT-1500-Jigsaw-puzzle-Jigthings/dp/B002ZHJAYS

It does not work for all games as you cannot leave tall pieces, but for most games I have tried it is ok, although depending on the game, I have to remove some stuff before putting it back in the lid (e.g., minis in MK or Anachrony...). What I do is I always take multiple pictures of the board state before hand because tokens can move a bit. In any case, it makes tearing down and setting up again much more palatable.

u/meyerchris7 · 3 pointsr/10cloverfieldlane

Ok guys, we have to discuss the puzzle. I don't think the puzzle pieces themselves are important, if they were if any one got lost the whole lead could be ruined. What information have we gained from the pieces? We have the puzzle they are from it is of the tower of course http://www.amazon.com/Re-Marks-Eiffel-Tower-Puzzle/dp/B0030CI28W/ref=sr_1_7?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1453488630&sr=1-7&keywords=Eiffel+Tower+puzzle . We have the retailer who has a password protected catalog section on their website.

www.remarks.net (I doubt they have anything to do with this and seem to be good people please don't harass them)

Personally I think the puzzle pieces are just meant to lead us somewhere, and not to actually be solved. But to where? Let me know what you guys think.

I don't have the post, but I think I saw the same one as you and I think this was the puzzle, because I remember the centre kind of turned into a circle.

I've also heard this one is goddamn terrible, so it might be up her alley.

u/autobulb · 2 pointsr/pics

Not an avid puzzle doer so I can't, sorry. The one I mentioned was with a past girlfriend many years ago and it took us a few weeks to solve it, doing a little each day.

If I remember correctly it was named "world's hardest jigsaw puzzle" so I imagine some similar search terms would yield some results.

A quick google search showed me this: http://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Most-Difficult-Jigsaw-Puzzle/dp/B00000K0FI

It's the same idea, but mine was a different graphic.

And now that I see the description I realized it should have been "rotated 90 degrees" not 45.

I have a cat. It's all about keeping it covered when you're not working on it. I use one of these now. It's expensive but it's been so awesome, you put the puzzle together on the big tray and zip it all up when you're not working on it. Also helps that I don't have much space and can do them sitting on my bed now.

u/mangusman07 · 2 pointsr/Jigsawpuzzles

Essentially get good cardboard and make a $5 version of a Puzzle Caddy. I've used hot glue to make a lip around the edge of the cardboard so that pieces can't slide off the edges.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002ZHJAYS/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1469877507&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=puzzle+caddy&dpPl=1&dpID=41mvqAprJKL&ref=plSrch

For a faster startup, you can simply sort pieces into the lids of old puzzle boxes. You'll still need a good place to build the puzzle, but you at least don't have to spread 1000 pieces around a small table.

u/cooking_with_therock · 2 pointsr/10cloverfieldlane

As most of you know, people have been receiving puzzle pieces with their orders of Swamp Pop. I spent most of my day compiling all of the pieces that have been posted to the subreddit, and doing my best to combine them. For reference, I found a post here that said that this was the puzzle that the pieces came from. So I got to work. I got some pieces from /u/ryanj64 here, some pieces from /u/Clovie2923 here, some pieces from /u/MNWNM here, some pieces from /u/Headman70 here, some pieces from /u/slusho6666 here, and some pieces from /u/RecklessLion here. Not all of the pictures are taken from the best angle, or at the highest quality but I tried my best with what I had. The pieces that are off to the side of the picture I couldn’t place within the puzzle due to lack of reference or because they were too low quality. These puzzle pieces are the only ones that have been posted to the subreddit as of right now, but I will be continuing to put the pieces together as more people post them.

If anyone sees any problems with my current placement of the pieces, or can help me place any of the pieces that are off to the side, let me know.

edit: I found a few more pieces from UNF user Clovie4796 and added them to the puzzle here.

Based on this comment I don’t think there’s a full picture:

> Verified Purchase

> I bought this puzzle because my team at work was going through one 1000 piece puzzle a week. This puzzle stopped them dead in their tracks. They managed about 10 connections over the course of a month, after they separated the pieces into quarter puzzles based on the pattern on the back. They eventually gave up and got back to work.

I dont want my table to be cheap. i want nice wood and a not to simple but not to complex body (table legs sides etc) where should i start and how can i go about this idea. example

u/ndstumme · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

For an easier time you could have a go at my favorite jigsaw. It's a double-sided puzzle where one side is a picture of a bunch of dalmatians, and the other side is the same photo rotated 90 degrees.

Look at the Ravensburger Krypt ones if you like the look of that.

Also, Buffalo do some printed front and back, one rotated 90 degrees. This one looks very hard indeed: https://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Most-Difficult-Jigsaw-Puzzle/dp/B00000K0FI

Another one in this range

u/matuba · 1 pointr/pics

When I was a kid my parents got me a double sided puzzle. Same image on both sides, but one side was rotated 90 degrees. I think it was only like 500 pieces. I worked on it an hour or two every day for a month. At the end I had 7 pairs of pieces joined. I ended up using it for kindling for a campfire. That thing was god damned infuriating.

Edit: Like this puzzle: http://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Most-Difficult-Jigsaw-Puzzle/dp/B00000K0FI but mine had a different picture. I think it was a nature scene or something. These dalmations look insanely harder.

This puzzle from Ravensburger was truly maddening. I ended up taking a couple weeks break from it because it was so difficult. However, the feeling of completing it is true triumph unlike ever before. It's only 654 pieces but it's a doozy. Good luck if you dare.

u/iamtoastshayna69 · 1 pointr/zelda

I finished a Ravensburger puzzle a month or so ago (Anne Stokes of a white haired girl holding a baby dragon) It was pretty easy and a lot of fun. I have to add another layer of glue to it and get it in a frame as of right now it's home is under my coffee table. I have another puzzle that I need to get done that is 1000 piece that is in the shape of a dragon. My goal is to one day do this 24,000 piece puzzle but as it stand I'd have absolutely no place to do it as my house is not big enough, and even if I did manage to get it done, no wall is big enough to hang it on. I haven't yet, they're currently sitting under my bed, haha. I'm going to be moving soon so unfortunate I'll have to take them apart to transport them :/ oh well, then I can redo them! This is the puzzle I want! Isn't it beautiful!!! It's 14ft long and 5ft tall, I think.

u/Captain_Sabatini · 1 pointr/rpg

Like I said, different strokes for different folks. I like the setting separated from the mechanics myself. I feel that this causes less confusion, for instance if I am running my homebrew world no one will have the misconception that kobolds are tricky little buggers that live in caves when it turns out they run the banks plus it is just different ways of looking at it.

I see the mixture of fluff and crunch as a painting, it can be either beautiful or a mess but it is there for you right away. While just the crunch is a box full of puzzle pieces (sometimes this puzzle, white side) that you need to work to put together. Though sometimes I will admit I want a painting, then I just need to go find a setting instead of a new system.

Here's how you should spend next month. It'll bring balance to your life.

u/politicalanalysis · 1 pointr/pics

I couldn't find the exact puzzle, but I found a similar one. This one has 500 pieces and two sides, so you can decide to do the easy side or the hard side.

The one I found was at one of those puzzle/game kiosks they set up in malls around Christmas time.

u/FalconMC · 1 pointr/pics

My brother got me a puzzle of The Beatles White Album as a gag gift if you wanna get her one of those!

No, I did not cheat and use the back with the records, I did the white side. Took me forever...

u/amabeebus · 1 pointr/Jigsawpuzzles

I have this and I love it! The board comes out of the carrying case for when you are working on it. When I'm done for the night but don't want to put it completely away I just put the sort trays on top of the puzzle and it covers the whole thing. When I'm done for a while, I put the tray in the carrying case and slide it under my bed. It's awesome! I have a cat too and this protects the puzzle from her quite nicely.

u/kimmyhazard · 1 pointr/10cloverfieldlane

I think someone on unfiction said they found the original puzzle on amazon and it was 250 pieces.

Edit: Scroll down for post... embarrassingly enough I actually replied to the post and forgot... oops

Also here's the puzzle link if you don't want to scroll for it

That's a million percent a puzzle of the Eiffel tower. Probably this puzzle: http://www.amazon.com/Re-Marks-Eiffel-Tower-Puzzle/dp/B0030CI28W

Here you go, I got it on Amazon. You can look for "Tenyo puzzle" for more of this brand. The quality is out of this world. Once the puzzle is fully assembled you can literally pick up the puzzle in one piece as everything is snapped together and locked in perfectly.

If she likes Doctor Who this is a potential gift idea: http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Exploding-Tardis-Jigsaw/dp/B006CPEO6I

Not super hard number of pieces wise but the colors being everywhere made it hard.. And the shapes weren't actually "normal puzzle shaped" so that ups the difficulty.

u/wakingrufus · 1 pointr/funny

Here is another tough puzzle: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006CPEO6I/ref=pd_aw_sbs_1?pi=SL500_SY115&simLd=1 don't believe me? Read the reviews. It has pieces with flat edges that aren't edge pieces, and pieces like these: http://imgur.com/CY37QCv

Here is the puzzle if anyone is insane enough to buy it. Link

Full disclosure, there's a micro-print pattern on the back, so I put this together upside down, but I honestly don't know if that made it any easier. I organized the pieces by quadrants and worked from the corners in.

That being said, maybe consider doing one of the maps of Hyrule from your favorite Zelda, or whatever land the game you choose takes place in.

I posted some links, if you don’t have an eBay or amazon account I’m happy to help you get them! They’re SO much fun to solve (almost as difficult as the game itself... minus the termina one that’s pretty easy)

I don't think GameStop in Norway stocks them, sadly. Just ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/USAopoly-Legend-Majoras-Collectors-Puzzle/dp/B0128OQ0K4/ and I'll see how it is. As it's just 550pcs, it'll be a quick "in between" piece to do :)
