First, if you want to be healthy, then you need to feed your body properly. Learn about macros here:
Second, what's your daily eating scheduling like? Ex. just breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or with mid-morning & mid-afternoon snacks, or with dessert, and so on? I'd recommend picking one category & then working on building up a week's worth of recipes for that meal or snack eating period, so that you can add some rotation & variety into your diet. Then move on to the next category, do the same thing, and repeat until finished. That gives you a really solid foundation of recipes with a variety of flavors to choose from on a week to week basis. You can build up to more than just a week's worth of recipes as you find new recipes that you want to keep in your collection!
Slowly adopting a dietary change like this also allows your gut bacteria to catch up at a normal pace; a lot of people just dive right into it & have a rough first few weeks because their GI tract isn't used to all of the fiber & other stuff flowing into it. It's like when you eat bean chili after not eating it for a long time...it can cause havoc on your system, not because it's bad for you, but simply because you don't have the right gut flora built up so that the good bacteria in your system can properly manage your new standard diet.
Third, I would recommend investing in some high-quality tools. Note that you don't have to buy any of these, and if you do want them, you don't have to buy them all at once - totally okay to piecemeal it & save up for them! Here are what I'd consider the "essentials":
If you have the budget available or are willing to save up, here are a few extra tools that are really good:

This might be a good excuse to make a big old-school punch, David Wondrich style with the oleo saccharum and everything.
Barring that, my usual go-to for a crowd pleaser that easy to batch is Jim Meehan's Green Tea Punch. It's basically a classic grog but with green tea and mint tea for the "weak" component.

If you do end up having to juice a bunch of citrus, I definitely recommend straining it before you use it, and you may wanna use this opportunity to get a juicer more suited to higher volume. Even a cheap one like this will make the job a lot easier.

Are you looking for a citrus juicer like this or this; centrifugal like this; or masticating like this, this or this?
Or, you know. I guess I could not be an idiot and look into the post mentioned. Sorry.
Thank you.
The Omega 8000 line starts around $220, and will give similar yields to the Vert. Below this price point, you will have to settle for a centrifugal juicer, which will give you lower yields and wetter pulp than an auger-style juicer (especially with greens). My recommendations in this category would include the Omega BMJ330, or any of the Breville juicers.
I just purchased this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HR1861-Whole-Juicer-Aluminium/dp/B0007XHGHA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371820842&sr=8-1&keywords=juicer
I've made green juice every day for the past week, and it's working well. Luckily, they introduced food waste disposal in my apartment complex the day it arrived (Edinburgh). I had a cheaper one in the US back in 2007, and this one is definitely easier to clean and yields more juice in comparison. That said, there's still some water left in the pulp when I throw it out, so a higher price juicer might pay off in the long run if you're going to be juicing a lot. Hope this helps.
I recommend this juicer and this blender. Both are easy to clean.
You might also find biobags useful for juicing. They make the cleanup process faster, and prevent spillage from contaminating your living place with rotten smells.
For recipes, have a look at this juice recipe , and this smoothie recipe.
Be careful juicing too much fruit. Juicing removes fiber and will make fruit juices increase blood sugar significantly.
I own the Omega VRT 350 and while I love it, the narrow pulp ejection chute gets clogged every single time. Be it a tiny bit of ginger, some diced celery or pineapple, that sucker gets jammed up. This review says it best.
this is the juicer i have bought.

i am very new to the juicing thing. dont know too much about it. watched that juicing documentary where the guy does a 60 day juice fast.
thought i would implement the juicer into my diet first. make a load of the recipes ive seen. and probably make a few myself and then go on a 15 day juice fast, then if i decide to go further who knows maybe 60 days... only time will tell.
im a kind of all or nothing person.
dont know if i will be able to not have weed during the experiance who knows... but friends said they would give me weed leafs to juice too, extremely good for you! have a look into it if your interested. its basically using the plant as a vegtable.
i have an vaporising cig thing too that i will use so no smoking at all during the process. although quiting weed for the process would be great. i do smoke far too much of it.
Chef'n Lemon for lemons/lines: https://www.amazon.com/Chefn-FreshForce-Citrus-Juicer-Lemon/dp/B002XOB0P0
(I like something a little heavier duty for lemons/limes as it's the workhorse)
Oranges/Grapefruits either a larger hand squeezer or reamer:
https://www.amazon.com/Manual-Orange-Citrus-Hand-Juicer/dp/B076FDNWZK
https://www.amazon.com/Drizom-Citrus-Orange-Squeezer-Measuring/dp/B07CNJZ6F7
For Pineapple juice I'm using a generic Cold-pressed juicer, I can get about 1 liter of juice from a good pineapple and find that it still tastes good after a couple weeks:
https://www.amazon.com/Machines-Masticating-Extractor-Function-Vegetables/dp/B07DCKYJ5D/
http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-67650A-Mouth-Extractor/dp/B009RVA2QA
This is what I use. Cheap and reliable.
The amount of labor the Sunkist J-1 has saved me has more than bought itself back. You can find refurbs for way less. I guess it just all depends on how much juice you are going through. 12-14ish liters on a weekend night here.
I have used this one in the past also.
They are both an investment but you can just knock juicing out in minutes. I'd rather have the invaluable time. Smarter not harder eh?
If I am at home I just use the classic "Mexican Elbow" and just do it. I also have an old vintage juice king manual juicer if I am doing larger or more than a few limes/lemons. No need for the whole big up and down thing at home. For a bar go commercial and electric. For home elbow grease.

Your juicer/reamer probably sucks. Now this thing is something else: https://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-96700-Commercial-Electric/dp/B00015NMWC
Is quite amazing. Process 40 pounds of limes in under an hour assembly-line style? Done. (two people recommended). Overheating? Nope. Weighs like a tank though.
My first juicer:
Breville 800JEXLhttps://www.amazon.com/Breville-800JEXL-Fountain-1000-Watt-Extractor/dp/B0002VAFVG
But the high speed really oxidizes the juice and doesn't extract as much. Great if you want to juice 100 apples or 20 heads of celery quickly. But for quality, it leaves a lot to be desired.
My second juicer:
Omega J8006https://www.amazon.com/Omega-J8006-Dual-Stage-Masticating-Revolutions/dp/B001L7OIVI/
Worked well for me for a number of years, but didn't handle some greens very well. After following Lou Corona and making his lemon ginger blast every day, I upgraded one more time.
My *last* juicer:
Tribest GSE-5050 "Green Star Elite"https://www.amazon.com/Green-CHROME-COLORED-Masticating-Juicer-GSE-5050/dp/B075TFHVPH/
I find it makes the best juice, especially for greens (parsley, cilantro, kale, spinach, chard, etc). It's not great if you're only trying to juice, say, apples or oranges. For citrus, I used a $70 citrus press. For apples, I will use the Green Star but the apples should be pretty crisp and I may help move things along with a stalk of celery.
Yeah, it's pricey, but if you're serious about your juice and will make it a life-long habit, then it will be a good investment.
Lou Corona's Lemon Ginger Blast
The original lemon ginger blast can be made in a blender if that's all you have:
.. then blend all ingredients in a Vitamix, strain and drink.
You can do it! If you're flying, I would honestly just buy an Aicok juicer from Amazon and return it when you're done with it. Yeah, yeah, its dishonest, whatever, Amazon has turned to shit and personally, I feel fine with screwing them for a few bucks.
If you need it to store refrigerated medicine, I've heard that a hotel has to provide you with a mini fridge. Not 100% sure if that's true.
Just save the pulp and throw it away in the lobby.
I have the omega, but I read you're trying to save $. I was using this one while I stayed at my aunt's doing a juice cleanse for 30 days. It was a solid performer, and greens came out dry.
Aicook Slow Masticating Juicer, Cold Press Juicer Machine https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J5NSP5D/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_6W.BDbEN0CP27
I got an Aicook.
Handles carrots, apples, pears, whatever.
You can always chop it fine to make it easier.
AMZCHEF Slow Masticating Juicer Cold Press Juicer Extractor Machine Slow Juicer Vertical Reverse Function Quiet Motor Big Feed Chute|Vegetable&Fruit|Juice Jug & Brush 56RPM BPA-Free https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TC59WH2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ff4TDbFBQDYA2
This is what I got and it works great. I'm pretty sure it's a clone of the breville Big Squeeze at less than half the cost. I haven't ran into any issues so far, and if I do I bought the optional 3 year warranty as well.
It's a slow juicer so you get all the benefits of that, and a bigger yield.
at amazon its for $149.00 @ http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CJE-1000-1000-Watt-5-Speed-Extractor/dp/B0030EH7S6
use a juicer like this one and all the seeds will be gone
I'm always curious to know why people don't like the special offers. They never show up while you're actually doing something, only on the lock screen and a special tab on your homescreen. Amazon occasionally has some really great deals with those as well.
In the past year, I have gotten a brand new Cuisinart Juicer for $20, normally $120, a Bluetooth speaker for $20, normally $125. Such great deals
http://www.amazon.com/Omega-BMJ330-Commercial-Stainless-Steel-Pulp-Ejection/dp/B0032XEIOG/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1421963726&sr=1-7&keywords=omega+juicer how about this?
That guy is pretty intense, but that Omega is definitely a great juicer option, if not the best option. Just throwing that out there.
NOW is the time for you both to investigate alternative cancer treatment.
To fight cancer the body needs the right nutrition, removal of toxins and irritants, and therapy that's non-toxic to normal cells. Standard treatments are not wildly successful and can actually cause new cancers; they also disfigure and/or destroy the body and its immune system, making it harder for natural remedies to work if they are tried in desperation when conventional treatments fail, as they frequently do.
The first step your family should take is to move to an alkalysing diet that emphasises fresh (and mostly raw) pesticide-free (organic or biodynamic or home-grown) vegetables and fruits. Carrot and beetroot juices every day can be beneficial. Any meat should be not the largest portion on the plate and very lightly cooked or eaten raw (e.g. sushi/sashimi, or steak tartare), to preserve the enzymes it contains (this is important as protein-digesting enzymes are needed to fight cancer cells. If you cook meat through, all its enzymes are destroyed and the body has to supply all the enzymes to process it, diverting them from the cancer fight).
An important nutrient linked to preventing breast tissue abnormalities is iodine. Many are deficient in this substance: besides not getting enough in the first place, it's also displaced by other halides such as fluoride, chlorine (both of these in drinking water), and bromine (the latter is used in bread production). The best dietary source is kelp, or seaweed. Japanese women who eat their traditional, kelp-rich diet have one of the lowest rates of breast cancer in the world. Check out Iodine: Why you need it, and why you can't live without it by Dr David Brownstein.
Your family should also move to eliminate refined carbohydrates from your diet. No more sugar, bread, pizza, white rice, pasta, cakes, biscuits/cookies, muffins or other flour products (the book Life Without Bread is very good). Cancer feeds on sugar; cancer cells have more insulin receptors than normal cells, and they can also make an insulin like substance that allows them to absorb up to around 15 or 16 times more than a normal cell. This fact can be used in various ways, including IPT and PET scans in the medical world, and is used in the alternative therapy world too (fruits like apples and apricots have sweet flesh with bitter seeds which contain an anti-cancer substance called amygdalin (aka "vitamin B17"); there is also a maple syrup + bicarb therapy (important to take magnesium too with this, so you don't upset your calcium/magnesium balance).
Avoid anything containing soy, as most commercial soy products are unfermented and thus will block iodine absorption as well as protein & mineral uptake. Avoid anything containing high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Avoid artificial colourings, flavourings (including MSG, year extract, hydrolyzed anything), and artificial sweeteners. Do not cook with polyunsaturated oil - it is fragile and oxidises readily under heat or light. Monounsaturated oils are best for salads, and saturated fats are far more stable under heat and are the healthiest to cook with. Don't use margarine - butter is better (also contains vitamins A and K2).
Cod-liver oil is an important source of vitamins A & D, which work together. Vitamin D is essential for proper immune system function; your wife needs hers in tip-top condition. A warming sit in the sun every day will allow the skin to produce vitamin D (sulphur and cholesterol are needed for this reaction; eggs contain both of these things). In the winter, or if indoors for extended periods, cod liver oil is essential.
Vitamin C in large intravenous doses has been shown to be effective in attacking cancer in a way that is non-toxic to normal cells. Taking vitamin C orally can help, but it's not as effective as the intravenous method. A good vitamin C formulation will contain bioflavonoids, and will balance calcium with other minerals such as magnesium and potassium, like this one. That brand also contains zinc, which is an important mineral if you are going to be using amygdalin (vitamin B17) therapy.
Websites to help you start your research include: Gerson.org, Cancure.org, CancerTutor.com. An excellent book enumerating a number of alternative therapies is available from CancerTruth.net.
Documentaries that you will find helpful include: The Gerson Miracle, Food Matters, The Beautiful Truth & Dying to Have Known (online here; 1hr 19 min), Healing Cancer from Inside Out, Burzynski: The Movie, and the excellent new 2011 film Cancer is Curable NOW (you can find them on Amazon.com & elsewhere).
Don't despair, there are better methods to try than the drastic and barbaric conventional ones. Don't let orthodoxy awe you with impressive terminology, play upon your fears, and tell you everything but their advice is "wrong" in order to quickly usher you into their agenda. Cancer is not generally going to cause someone to drop dead suddenly: take a week or three and do some thorough reading and research. Get an idea for what is available before making a treatment choice. Meanwhile, you can start changing your diet today: everyone in the family will benefit, not just your wife!

I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009RVA2QA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Seems to just spit out the grass like a lawn mower.
Started to look into it and saw some hand grinders
I don't want to talk out of my ass here or give you false hope, but if I were you I would definitely try to supplement my diet with green juices. The TL;DR of it is that if it works, it's better to spend money on vegetables and fruits, than on medicine which will most certainly have unpleasant side effects. What I'm saying is that medicine is certainly not a good solution, long term, and may create new problems for you that you or your doctor might not fully anticipate.
Get a slow juicer (aka "masticating" juicer) such as the Hurom Juicer:
https://www.amazon.com/Hurom-HP-Slow-Juicer-White/dp/B01H0YJQN0/
Start drinking green juice at least once a day if not more (If you want to know why a slow juicer, I'll gladly explain). Make sure you put a good amount of kale in there, it's the most important component. You can skip the others, but do not skip the kale. If you don't like the flavor you can add carrots, beets, apples and berries to your juice. In fact, add them anyway because they are very healthy and you'll certainly benefit from their addition beyond just the improvement in flavor.
I know some might say this is not 100% in line with the subject of this subreddit, but I would argue that the substances found in green juices are not too different from what you'll find in a good stack.
It's a pain in the butt to do this, make no mistake! You will have to buy those things in your local grocery store or farmer's market, you'll have to store it, clean it, and juice it. You'll have to clean the juicer once you're done. And you need to stick to this regimen for at least 90 days.
Invest in a juicer! You can put in all fruits/veggies you want to it and get your nutrition! 98 bucks on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M9GDTPJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6PA6Ab81DTY46
