It's actually for all veggies, and we've had one for years, as has my Dad. It's easily my favorite kitchen-item we own - it's simply amazing how well it cuts, especially if one day you swap back to a steak knife or something less nice - you'll notice the difference immediately. Unless you're using industrial amounts of onions, I don't know how this wouldn't do the trick.
