For travel/camping, centrifuge tubes also work really well and come in a variety of sizes. They’re usually around $8 for 50 on Amazon. I also use them for small amounts of medicine. A 5ml tube will usually hold 6-10 ibuprofen, benadryl, etc.

Have you thought about test tube racks?

Something like this, These, or this is a closing case with various sizes.

If you do want to use ammo boxes, there are smaller options out there! So don't completely give up on those unless even something like that is too bulky. If so, you might be best off getting a box that's not too big for you and just making your own dividers. Hope this all helps! <3

> Can this be done safely

I highly doubt it. And even if it could be done safely, I'm sure it's not worth the effort.

You really only need the screw base from the C9 bulb. Everything else is negotiable.

So I say break the glass off the C9 bulb. Then use nippers to cut the filament off the support wires. Solder an LED and resistor where the filament used to be.

Then find some kind of clear plastic tubes that are the right diameter to fit into the C9 screw base. (Maybe you can find some cheap plastic test-tubes of about the right diameter and cut them to length.) Epoxy them into the metal screw base. Now you have a "bulb" designed to run on low voltage.

Then just wire all the sockets up with 5V.

If you’re looking for a specific product, I’ve purchased a couple packages of borosilicate test tubes that work super well and would work wonderfully in this.

I have 2 packs of these.

Nalgene bottles or 50ml sample tubes.

I bought them straight from my PT so unfortunately I don’t have a link but here are similar to what I have! The important part is the rounded bottom- it also depends on how large you can fit. These are slightly larger than my middle finger for reference.

I use 1.5mL microcentrifuge tubes for my salt and pepper on short trips. I usually don't use much, depending on how the meals are planned. I'd probably just use more vials for longer trips or meals needing more seasoning - but 2.0mL. 5mL, and 7mL+ tubes are available as well. I really like the attached flip-up cap. Can't get lost, easy to open/close with one hand, and hasn't ever come open in the pack or unintentionally. The ones with caps that press on (don't screw on) are hard as hell to open, and when you do have a good chance of spilling everything in the process.

Well you can't really infuse anything into the dry ice because the industrial systems used to produce it use multistage separation and cooling. You might be able to do a "soak", but what you will get is an outer coating of your liquid that is frozen around the dry ice pieces. Then you could throw these into your drinks and watch the fireworks go off. This will almost certainly have the exact same effect as if you had just thrown in dry ice pieces into the drink, since the coating will dissolve into the liquid faster than being attached to the CO2 gas. But if that's what you want I would break up everything into the sizes you want, throw them into a cooler (the dry ice will be your main source of temperature regulation, so make sure it is well insulated), and let it do its thing. Not sure how long these will last, so it would be best to make them within a couple hours of serving time

If what you are going for is to have the sublimating CO2 carry your flavor compounds into the air, you're going to have to go via a different route. A couple modernist restaurants do this type of thing, where they build a center piece and pour their aromatic liquid over it. This massively changes the perceived flavors (and adds a bit of showmanship to the dinner), since a good portion of taste is dependent on associated smells. Here is the Fat Duck doing it.

If you wanted the drink to carry the smoke, rather than a center piece, then you are going to need some custom glassware. Not sure what your budget is, but you could have something designed and made to suit your needs. If that seems a tad too much, I would build something from existing glassware. Take a normal glass and throw one of these short test tubes on the side, or get some plastic tubing and run it spiraling around the outside of the glass (just depends on your style and what you are going for). After that you can fill up the well with dry ice dust, and when you are ready to present pour in some aromatic liquid. You're going to want to make sure nothing comes out while your guests are drinking from their glass, so I would recommend a stopper of some sort that you have heavily perforated or something porous like a piece of sponge that you have cut to the right shape.

Not sure if this answers your question, but I tried to cover all possible bases. Best of luck with your cocktails!

I got these. I use a 5ml syringe (like what you use to dose kids liquid meds) to measure out water from my tanks into those test tubes.

My only tip would be, the lids can be a bit fussy, make sure the top inside liner is flush to the top (poke it down if it isn't) and they'll screw on better.

You're welcome -- glad I could help!

If you decide to go with large tubes, these are similar to the tubes I use, but there are cheaper options: 1, 2, 3, etc. It's important to look for tubes that are listed as either "sterile" or "autoclavable." I like the pre-sterilized packs because that's less work for me.

There are a lot of techniques out there, so sometimes it helps to list them out into categories with a few details underneath each. With a list like that, you can go through it all at a glance and decide what aligns with your budget, material availability, and level of effort/interest.

Let us know what you end up deciding to do and how it works out for you. I'm sure a lot of folks around here would like to see it!

Oh gotcha. There are a bunch of use videos and articles about yeast propagating and yeast ranching that you can watch to learn more. After I grow up the population of yeast, I divide it and refrigerate them in either 50 ml sterile centerfugale tubes or in 1 pint Mason jars depending on size. I buy the centerfugale tubes on Amazon. All in all, It's easier than it looks and is fun to experiment with. As long as you pay extra close attention to sanitation and sterilization you should be fine.
Here is a link to the tubes I buy. SPL 50ml Conical Centrifuge Tube PP/HDPE, Sterile,Non - pyrogenic, Non - cytotoxic, DNase / RNase - free, Human DNA - free (Pack of 25) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KXX7NQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_l0osDbCZ2N2KS

Test tubes essentially, with screw caps. Plastic would be lighter, maybe less durable.

Test tubes like these tubes

Vallejo paints are acrylics which behave differently in an airbrush than enamels. Acrylics dry much faster.

To answer your question, Vallejo model color paints are great to brush paint and airbrush. If you want to airbrush then you should add some Vallejo thinner to it. The paint is very concentrated so you won't need much.

The other pack is model air which is specially designed for airbrushing. So you won't need thinner for it. It can also brush paint fine so i have heard. (I only own model color)

You are saying that you are wasting paint because it is hard to get the paint out of the tin into the airbrush. I am assuming you just pour out of the tin, why not just buy some Pipettes and save yourself £60. I have seen packs of 100 pipettes for around £5.

u/Kresley · 2 pointsr/HelpMeFind

In labs, we used to use tiny plastic things called transfer pipettes for this sort of thing, like these: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Plastic-Liquids-Pipetting-Pipette/dp/B00N3Y0BFE

They come in different sizes. https://www.amazon.com/Lab-Pipettes/b?ie=UTF8&node=318122011

One thing I should have added is that a little rack to hold flavoring bottles helps a lot to prevent knocking the bottles over with your syringe. The little 8ml glass vials like you get from W.Labs are tall and light and easy to knock over. I use this one but anything like it should work. Another great tip someone posted here is to put your bottle of nic in a coffee cup when drawing into the syringe. Keeps it from knocking over and localizes any dripping.

The ones I have were actually being thrown out from a research building, so I am not sure the best source to get them, but they are called falcon tubes. Here is a link to some on amazon, though you can probably find a better deal elsewhere. Hope this helps!

They make ones that stand on their own!

Do you have stuff to make starters already?

Stir plate, flask (get two), dme. Pick up some plastic 50mL tubes, and start doing some starter harvesting to keep a few strains on hand that you like.

Fermentation temp control is something you really want to take care of. It's usually said that it's the #1 thing to improve your beer (along with starters). If nothing else, make a swamp cooler or a son of fermentation chamber out of a box or rubbermaid bin.

Do you need these specific tubes? If not, search "centrifuge tubes" on amazon. There are a wide variety of sizes 5mL and up.

So the melting point of adex is between 81-82 degrees C. being as water boils at 100C you'll be fine using this method.
You'll first need some capillary tubes and a decent immersion thermoter

This is where it gets a bit tricky. I would probably use a glass beaker to boil the water so you're able to see clearly when the sample begins to melt. be sure to calibrate thermo and account for any discrepancy in the range.

anyway, this is how I've done it in the past. if anyone else has a more reliable or easier method im all ears.

I think a hot plate and a thermo gun would work well too..

These are a little different from the one you get from Anderson/Goulet/etc but it's a 50 pack.
