Yeah the deal I got was crazy, the seller must have had extra stock. Definitely not a typical price.

I was eyeing the 2050P but the reviews on amazon aren't the best. I've read on there or elsewhere that the cable can get loose and lose tension over time, but I'm not sure how widespread that problem is. If you read the reviews and still feel good about it, go for it. The cable vs rod thing was just a difference I was noting, it's probably not that big of a deal.

On the other hand there's this model which has the rod but only has plastic wheels.

I just found a 2600APlus for $100! Also here. Not familiar with these retailers, but this is a good deal. I think this is normally $140 or something if I remember right. This has both the steel rod and pneumatic tires. The hopper is a bit smaller than the one I have but it's not by much. The lever is also slightly better on mine and I believe my gearbox is beefier. But this is nearly half the price of the one I have, at least at current prices.

If you watch LawnCareNut (the video I linked in my previous comment), the 2600APlus is actually the one he uses.

I used to work for a lawn care company (We used [these](Lesco High Wheel Fertilizer Spreader with Manual Deflector - 101186 - Replaces 091186 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BL03CGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_lP6FybXNYNW75) fuckers if you're interested in a cart-style spreader. They were durable as shit, and believe me they got abused).

I'm pretty sure they are all plastic on purpose because some fertilizers and (obviously) road salt are very corrosive to metal.

If durability is your concern, unless you plan on using your spreader as a hammer, plastic should hold up just fine.

Edit: turns out there's a whole site dedicated to spreader reviews.
TLDR: [This one](Garden-Outdoor Earthway 2750 Hand-Operated Bag Spreader/Seeder https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009GZA6O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ZY6FybWWNMDVX) for handheld models.

Afternoon, I want to mount one of these to this using [these] (https://www.amazon.com/piece-Quick-Fist-Clamp-Mounting/dp/B006YU8IX6/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1518627276&sr=8-2-fkmr1&keywords=quick+fist+clips)

So I would mount the spreader on top of the tool box. Two clamps would hold the axle down and two clamps would hold the bar down that keeps it upright when not in use. Im just reaching out to people on here to point out any flaws in my idea. As of now all I can find is that the salt from the spreader will get all over the toolbox and my truck (the toolbox is mounted in my truck). Also not sure if it would be totally legal on the road even though it would be tied down with more than enough hold.

Because OP didn't. This is most likely damage done with a [riding spreader] (https://www.amazon.com/Spyker-S100-Ride-On-Spreader/dp/B01BNTCSQU) or a similar lawn-care machine, but not a mower. I work in lawn-care and see this damage all of the time.

Okay thanks. You mentioned possibly not needing to use a liquid sprayer but instead some sort of "spreader". Are you referring to this? Because I do have one of those.
