Yes, anything can have a dramatic impact on an individual.

From a total population standpoint is it normally a primary concern? No, most people do not even notice any issues that develop but then again, most people are not pushing their bodies or asking them to be high performance machines.

You are doing the right things by strengthening your muscular imbalances that have developed. Imbalance is one of the leading causes of injury behind only previous injury and severity of previous injury. My first recommendation would have been to get an assessment and to strengthen the weak areas. Since you have already tackled those issues, now you are also at the point of prevention.

What can you do and what's important?

What is important is the alignment of your hips and spine as you sleep. Prop your body up into a position where your hips and spine are aligned. I'll give some links on pillows that can help accomplish this.

Another common pillow position for back sleepers is a pillow, roll, or towel under the hamstrings.

If you have short hip flexors that put you in an anterior pelvic tilt (APT) this will especially work to take the pressure, from the weight and leverage of your legs, off of your low back.

Uhm ignore the comment about formula. That's. No.

Ok.

First hugs you're doing so great!!

Is your back killing you bc you don't have support back there? Bc game changer for me and sidelying was buying a half moon bolster pillow! Oh. My. God. Lol. I didn't even buy it for that purpose, but I tried it one night and 😮

This is the one I have, but seriously I'm sure anyone of those half moon pillows would work

Also, teething is a bitch. Mine is cutting 2 right now! Breastmilk pops have saved us. But I know it's hard for you to get any extra milk out . Do you only do sidelying? If not, for some of your other nursing sessions, add a haakaa on to your non nursing side. This is all I use and I've been able to pump a couple oz a day! At first it wasn't more than an ounce if that but eventually you get a tiny bit more each time.

As for the spitups, we had that too! Have you looked into the possibility of it being a dairy protein intolerance? That was it for us. And of course having a weak gut (he was on antibiotics) so we also added probiotics into the mix and night and day for us. Suddenly he wasn't spitting up! And he was feeling so much better.

You're also going through the hell that is the 4 month sleep regression. Very bad timing 😥 so between that and what seems like her being hungry bc of a potential growth spurt and the teething....you're going through the most!!

Another option that might be worth it since you've been at it for a month is to buy a floor mattress and cosleep with her there. Last resort though cuz I know that shit ain't cheap. But you know, if you get like a thin ish one, you could also later use it for your baby to crawl around on and have as a play space?

How's your supply? If it's slowed down, I might be tempted to also maybe up my galactagogues intake but that of course is at your discretion. But some lactation cookies can't hurt! If nothing else.... chocolate chips!

Also, maybe baby wear her to give yourself a tiny bit more mobility/freedom and she might even nap! Mine totally used to nap in his carrier at that age.

Exactly the same, pretty much average size. been with 7 girls. Only two would let me go full force ever, and hands down those were the best sex experiences I had. The rest I had to be cautious and work angles. Three of them I couldn't even get all the way in not once, and had to use a triangle wedge pillow to prop them up so I came at a angle. Even then they still would have some pain.

Actually that's my recommendation if you guys are having pretty short vaginas to deal with relative to dick size.. Triangle wedge does wonders for hitting G spots.

Honestly I would take another inch on my height then my dick any day.

Heat helps me sometimes. So does sleeping with this pillow between my knees and another, smaller pillow (not same kind) between my ankles.

You should try a real leg pillow. It's life changing

u/iboiloil · 6 pointsr/Sciatica
  1. a knee pillow for when you're sleeping can help a lot! Something like this.

  2. The Mcgill big 3, google it. They're good core exercises that can help with this.

  3. Walking usually relieves pain after getting past the initial discomfort.

  4. Heating pad sometimes helps.

5)This may help if it's a herniated disc symptom. (Mckenzie technique)

  5. Stretching helps also. Usually the hamstrings are tight and need work. Personally the figure 4 stretch helps me the most.

Find a good bolster for under your knees. Something like they'd use when you get a massage. I just use a yoga bolster since I had one already. I put links in for reference...non-affiliate.

Depending on the day, placement varies, sometimes I have to put it higher up (so it's almost under my hips) & some days it's just right under my knees themselves.

For side sleeping, something like this is supposed to help. I refuse to buy something so silly and have used very firm pillows with varying degrees of success. I used to be a 100% side sleeping but, I really just can't do it anymore.

FWIW, I have a jacked up left SI joint with pain that sounds very similar to yours. I just had a nerve ablation yesterday after a year+ of conservative treatment. I posted about it the night before last if you wanna read anything about it to verify.

I have a back brace as well. I lovingly refer to it as my turtle shell since it goes from literally under my boobs to just above my crotch and is hardshell. It's like a corset. People see it and think it's a medieval torture device but it's so helpful. I use it when the joint is so bothered and my back muscles are so exhausted that they start spasming. However, I couldn't imagine trying to sleep in the thing. The purpose of mine is to give support vertically to give my muscles a chance to chill the hell out. Using it for TOO long defeats the purpose of PT, which is building core strength, since it's letting the muscles be lazy. I usually only wear it if I'm having a really hard day or if I'm traveling.

TL;DR - yeah...sorry 'bout that. :)

Yeah the nausea from meds is one reason I stopped. The nausea was worse than the minimal pain I had at that point.

Here is my knee pillow. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ARJ7SBM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_eHMVJWuvDKVDm

If you need anyone to talk to, any questions, a shoulder to lean on etc, just shoot me a pm. As mentioned some of the challenges, twinges, pangs are scary so i'm glad I found someone to commiserate with ;)

I bought mine from Bed Bath and Beyond for under $10

On mobile so I apologize for the long links but she usually uses some combination of the following:

This one almost nightly - ComfiLife Orthopedic Knee Pillow for Sciatica Relief, Back Pain, Leg Pain, Pregnancy, Hip and Joint Pain - Memory Foam Wedge Contour https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ARJ7SBM?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

This one less often now that she has the wedge below - Sleeping Pillow for Back pain,Soft Memory Foam Lumabr Support Cushion for Side and Back Sleeper, Therapeutic Body Pillow for Sciatica Leg Hip Pregnancy and Joint Pain https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071RM4B53?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Every night, this is her favorite item and helps a lot in combination with our Casper mattress - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Multi-Use-Bed-Wedge-Foam-Pillow/191267219

She still has occasional pains and some days are better than others. She was prescribed opioids for the pain but refuses to take them for the obvious reasons. She was taking 4-6 aspirin every 6-8 hours but now she isn't taking any daily pain medication anymore and only takes a couple ibuprofen on "bad" days. We also recently started going to the gym where we do different muscle groups each visit but it seems like back and legs days have helped her immensely as well.

Wow that's scary, hope you feel better and the clot is destroyed quickly. I'm guessing youre on stronger blood thinners? And how did they find the clot in the lungs? Its good you went to the ER when you did. I completely understand the frustration with the calf pain, it was annoying af.

I ended up going to the ER and got an ultrasound to. They didn't find any clots in my leg, but didn't check my lungs. I also didn't really have any signs of pulmonary embolism so it probably wasn't necessary. The ER doctors kept in contact with my surgeon which was nice, but were unable to give me a solid diagnosis. I finally had my post op with the surgeon a week later and he diagnosed it as a bad hematoma. Apparently my hamstring bled a lot during the graph, and all the blood pooled in my calf, eventually forming the hematoma. He still told me to monitor signs of a DVT, but to try and move around a reasonable amount to breakup the hematoma.

The calf pain was quite shitty for a solid 3 weeks or so but it got slightly better each day. I'm started walking crutch free (around 3.5 weeks post op) and now only a little bit of pain in my lower leg (closer to the ankle), but its definitely much much better. I found that elevating my leg helped a lot, same with regular icing. Also, do tons of ankle pumps.

These 3 products were really helpful:

It was a bit painful using the knee pillow and took some getting used to but it helped tremendously. Ideally, you don't want to bend your knee much when sleeping, so I placed a small pillow under my foot at the top of this pillow.

The first ice pack is great as it stays nice and cool thanks to the insulation, and the straps work really well.

The second ice pack is great cause it wraps around your entire leg. I had 3 ice packs I rotated through, started off by icing my knee, then moved it over to my calf after around 20 minutes.

Hope you have a safe recovery man!

Best thing I did was cook a bunch of food to throw in the freezer. Big batches of soup, chili, etc.

I didn't find that I really needed accessories for my crutches, but I have a small apartment so it wasn't difficult to get around from one room to the other. If you're having to move across large distances, it may be nice to get a bag that attaches. Otherwise, use a fanny pack or something that you already have.

Shower stool was a nice to have, but wish I had borrowed instead of bought it. Only used it for the first 2 weeks.

I bought this pillow to sleep with and it was a god send to me. Before surgery, when I slept in the brace, my leg would keep falling to the side which left me with lots of hip pain. This kept me elevated and prevent side to side movement. Also used this a lot while sitting on the couch and propping up my leg on the ottoman.

u/mai_tais_and_yahtzee · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

I have a body pillow, eventually I just adapted to bringing it with me when I rolled over. You can buy a countoured leg pillow and maybe you'll be more likely to take it with you when you move.

There are also free yoga videos on Youtube that are specifically designed to help stretch the muscles in the IT band area. Search for "yoga for runners" and you should fine them.

u/muirmarie · 1 pointr/Ultralight

I was worried about things getting pretty slippery with stacked pillows on a mat in a quilt in a tent, but if there's no other options then that's what I'll have to do! I was just trying to find something more like this inflatable wedge at a lower weight, or maybe a different idea that I hadn't considered that's worked for other people! I've done a lot of research, but you never know, y'know? Thank you, though =)

u/iama_newredditor · 1 pointr/ankylosingspondylitis

I use that exact pillow plus one of these knee pillows. Not sure if that might be part of your issue, but I was really surprised at how much the knee pillow helped out my neck/back.

u/chevycaMARA · 1 pointr/ACL

I haven’t tried it myself, but I found this really cool thing online that I would have bought if I wasn’t a hyperextender. It’s supposed to keep you at zero degrees while you’re using it. Funniest part is there’s literally a question asking if it’s good for someone 9 weeks post op and someone said yes, especially if you’re having issues keeping extension https://www.amazon.com/Zero-Degree-Knee-Pillow-Surgery/dp/B07G4KX7G2/ref=asc_df_B07G4KX7G2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=295714452676&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16309376413350529731&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007181&hvtargid=pla-576375997142&psc=1

u/ravenclaws13 · 1 pointr/ACL

Yeah, it as only like this for the comparison picture. My wedge pillow has a trough in the middle so there’s nothing to bend the knee. I have a pillow on the edge for my heel to assist with full extension. This pillow has been wonderful, very helpful for comfortable sleeping. Just making sure to do heel pumps and quad firing throughout the day.

hi there! i run /r/buyamattress !

happy to help

unless you want to spend the money on a latex mattress (it's better for sex and it'll last longer than regular polyfoam), i'd recommend you go to www.foambymail.com and pick up 4-6" of HD foam (firm) for the base layer (the more you weigh, the more reason you should get 6" instead of 4"...the price difference is negligible) and then depending on your preference, get a super soft 2-3" top layer, medium 2-3" top layer or even a 2-3" memory foam (i'd recommend the gel memory foam, as regular memory foam sleeps hot but the gel helps keep you cool) if and only if you prefer the feel of memory foam.

e.g. base layer http://www.foambymail.com/LHQ_2/lux-hq-foam-mattress.html
e.g. super soft top layer http://www.foambymail.com/SS_2/super-soft-foam-mattress.html
These two together, in a queen, is under $250 (including shipping).

e.g. memory foam topper http://www.foambymail.com/V_4/4lb-memory-foam-topper.html

are you a front, back or side sleeper? if you sleep on your stomach, you want a very thin pillow. on your side, you want a pillow that lines up with your spine (so your neck isn't at an angle down or up) and for back sleepers, again, you want to keep your spine aligned. lots of pillows now let you remove the foam from them. this is the one i use personally, remove as much foam as necessary. https://smile.amazon.com/Brooklyn-Bedding-Talalay-Latex-Pillow/dp/B00WJ0AGH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492669110&sr=8-1&keywords=brooklyn+bedding+latex+pillow

finally, i'd recommend you buy foam "wedges" for any pressure points. for instance, knee pain pts like sleeping with foam between their legs, so their bad leg isn't angled downward when sleeping on their side. foambymail will make any type of wedge you ask for, or you can find various ones on amazon. e.g., https://smile.amazon.com/ComfiLife-Orthopedic-Pillow-Sciatica-Pregnancy/dp/B01ARJ7SBM/ref=sr_1_1?srs=8537175011&ie=UTF8&qid=1492669352&sr=8-1&keywords=foam+knee+pillow

as an aside, if you do wnat to buy latex, do NOT buy from foambymail (all their other foams are fine but the latex is not good quality!). i have three latex mattresses, all from brooklyn bedding/dreamfoam bedding and can't be happier. but these are $1500+ if you really want the benefits of latex and you have a very firm foam base layer already, you can buy a 2-3" medium topper for $300-500 (queen or king sized).

nb: i have no financial incentive in anything i've recommended, i'm a happy customer of all and recommend these items regularly to my pts

u/auntietrex · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I bought a special between the legs pillow like this one and it's been a huge help! I use it all night, it's light/small enough that I can roll over with it or sleep on my back for a bit without losing it, and it definitely helps with my hip pain. During the day, I also have a bouncy yoga ball at my desk to use instead of my chair sometimes which helps (although it's a bitch to mount/dismount).

u/metallic_heart · 1 pointr/ehlersdanlos

You could try something like this for sleeping.

Strengthening your quads will also help but it's a slow process.

u/GoNorthYoungMan · 1 pointr/LisfrancClub

I used something like this to help sleep:

https://www.amazon.com/Procare-Foam-Leg-Elevator-Cushion/dp/B00P3D4PG4

Side sleeping worked as well, but I ended up sleeping on one side so much it didn't help keep things symmetrical when I started walking again.

u/biscuitworld · 1 pointr/ACL

Lots of classic nintendo gaming, ice cream, self-care. I was lucky to have a good friend that checked in on me frequently and helped me around the house. I recommend staying in bed for the first 24 hours with your leg as elevated as much as you can. I had this bad boy: https://www.amazon.com/ProCare-Elevation-Foam-Support-Pillow/dp/B00P3D4PG4/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1466686506&sr=8-2&keywords=orthopedic+leg+wedges

and it was heaven-sent.

The nerve block is gonna be good for about 36-72 hours (mine lasted 3 days, they really juiced me!) but don't let that deter you from taking your oxycodone/whatever they prescribe you... You don't want the pain to hit without having anything to help.

Biggest thing: don't be alone. Get a bedside urinal. Eat ice cream. Be good to yourself.

u/Alorien · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

Have you tried one of those little pillows between your legs?

With my son I had the worst pain in my hips and got a memory phone pillow for my legs and holy crap... The difference was amazing, didn't go away completely but I was actually able to sleep.

This one is the one I had
