If you haven’t already, you should also check out the book Voguing and the House Ballroom... https://www.amazon.com/dp/0955481767?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Maybe her hours were misstated? That seems most likely. Or perhaps she doesn't really need the money and just loves Burning Man. She (Jennifer Raiser) authored "Burning Man: Art on Fire" last year.

I'm a huge fan of an old school spreadsheet of ideal and actual costs. My fiance was not, so i got this book (https://www.amazon.com/Budget-Savvy-Wedding-Planner-Organizer-Checklists/dp/1623159857) and had him fill out the workheets and we were able to get on the same page with our vision and budget for our engagement, wedding, and honeymoon.

So far we're in budget. If time is on your side, you can wait for items go on sale.

The Steve Roper book is pretty good, but having read it I'd recommend the newer "Yosemite in the Fifties" and "Yosemite in the Sixties" books over it. The Roper book is way less expensive, but these books are dynamite.

Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas! :) Here are a couple things I liked in my planning:

  1. Wedding Planning for the Busy Feminist - Practical and funny and very useful day-of timelines. Also a great appendix of vendors, designers, etc. https://www.amazon.com/Wedding-Planning-Feminist-Amanda-Pendolino/dp/1980821887

  2. The Knot's Planning Binder - Great for organizing contracts and business cards, I liked their color swatches for choosing coordinating colors. https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Wedding-Planner-Organizer-binder/dp/0770433367

  3. Budget Savvy Bride Wedding Planner & Organizer https://www.amazon.com/Budget-Savvy-Wedding-Planner-Organizer-Checklists/dp/1623159857

  4. K Company Smash Book - My sister in law gave me this - a great place to collect all sorts of mementos as you're planning your special day! https://www.amazon.com/K-Company-30-659391-CompanySMASH-Wedding/dp/B007HONAV8/

Whenever that happens, just change the .co.uk (or whatever) to .com and see if the offer is on the US version

Ian's published an arsenal of fucking awesome books. The new photo book of 80s Bay Area thrash is the latest, greatest tome.

Hi,

For a gift I was hoping to find a book that is a collection of photographs of Singapore / Asian architecture. My dad mentioned that they "had cool buildings" but am having a bit of trouble short of something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Journey-Through-Singapore-Captivating-Portrait/dp/0804847126 and related purchased.

If anyone has any recommendations, that'd be great. I think he'd be happy with any good architectural photography collection if the above is too specific.

Thanks!

I met someone special at Burning Man and I wanted to get them a Burning Man related Christmas Gift. I am torn between this book, which ive read and liked, and the one linked to this post.

I've been using The Budget Savy Bride book. You don't need to be having a 'budget' wedding. It's been good for organizing my thoughts, priorities, and planning overall.

Yeah I know - if you like this stuff, check out the companion book http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1938265084

Don't know what the story is behind this pic, but its was taken by a photographer named Spot as part of a series.

More on him here:

And the book on amazon:

Cool pics.

This was my youth, except not California.

Photos (yes there are more) are by Spot, a producer and engineer at SST Records and you can get the book on amazon

Ahhh it is nice to remember the crocheted bikini tops

This probably isn't it either, but I figured I'd share since your comment led me to finding it. There's a whole branch of photography centered around creating scenes with these miniature people. I really enjoyed checking them out!
