I think one big problem is Amazon's review page layout.
The review should say who it was purchased from and also the multi-product pages don't split the reviews into products, so you have no idea which review is for which item or who sold it!

This is a poor example, as you'll know which bulbs you get, but it demonstrates the point: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Ambiance-Equivalent-Compatible-Assistant/dp/B07351P1JK/

The reviews could be for any of those items, from any seller.

u/shlokrshah · 12 pointsr/buildapcsales

Edit: The price just changed on these literally minutes after I posted! They're $94.98 now haha.

Not sure if this belongs here but I figure enough of you would be interested in Smart Home stuff. Seems to be an all-time-low price according to CCC.

Seems to be a pretty good deal since the non-ambiance A19 starter kit & two bulbs would run you around $75 and these are significantly better if you prefer a white-white light over warmer whites.

The Color & Ambiance version of this is also on sale for $151 for anyone who needs RGB.

I would look into LIFX bulbs for this.

To everyone in this thread linking the White Ambiance: it's not the same as the white bulb. White Ambiance lets you adjust color temperature. White is only dimmable. Hue White is one thing and a bulb has always been $15. Hue White Ambiance is another thing and has always been $30.

They may have just stopped selling single white bulbs, because you can still get a two pack and a four pack, both with bulbs for $15 each.

agreed, just bought DeepCool brand LED's for my pc just last week. only $20 and took 3 minutes to setup.

What worked really well for me is the LED strips are magnetic so no paste or tape required. Hooked up to a 4-pin Molex and that was it.

I’ve only ever grown with artificial lights (unique living situation) so here’s some I can personally vouch for and recommend.

Sansi bulbs. I have the 24W model (fits in any standard desk lamp) and the 15W lights. These have special lenses that focus the beam very strongly in one spot, like a spotlight so it can be raised pretty high and cover a large-ish area. Don’t underestimate these, I put a plant too close to center and it turned jet black in 2 days. He bounced back just fine but these are definitely strong.

Strip lights. I’ve since upgraded my Sansi’s to these with a dedicated shelf. These aren’t as strong, I talked to a user on r/Succulents that reported haw etiolation 9 inches away from the light. However, once she lowered it to 5 inches they said they get amazing stress coloration. To put it in perspective, they said they had a Black Prince that’s always been green but has since gone black like the plant’s supposed to be.
As a bonus, here are the shelves I use, they are exactly the same dimensions as the lights.

Both are very capable depending on your needs.

Edit 11/26/19: Sooo, the strip lights have shot up to $200 for some reason. When I linked them, they were only $49. It’s either a stock issue or the new price, not sure.

u/organelle · 8 pointsr/succulents

I totally get it. When I had less budget I bought regular old clip lights and a couple of really high lumen bulbs, just enough for a couple of plants (more if you have only small plants, which is mostly what my collection consists of now.) Here's my old setup, you can just see the clip and how close I put super needy plants. Used
this light.
Just bought these at a recommendation from ewwmayo on gardenweb, wonderful so far. If your semps are still alive you can try putting them out now, more likely to survive in cold than no light.

u/ravekitt · 8 pointsr/succulents

I found that my echeverias do best outside in full-sun. When they were inside, even though they were in a large south-facing window they still weren't reaching their full potential without a grow light.

I used these bulbs at the end of winter and in early spring last year and got really good results. I also used it throughout the spring and summer to acclimate newly shipped plants before putting them outside. This is what one of my other echeverias looked like after 3 weeks under this light in conjunction with a large south-facing window. I had them positioned 2-3'' above my plants and ran them 12 hours a day.

u/WorkAccountBro · 8 pointsr/succulents

Just regular clamp lights w/ day light bulbs attached. I've seen these bulbs mentioned so many times in this subreddit, so I decided to buy them. I can verify that they work. My plants stopped etiolating and gained some color.

The windows have a IR reduction film on them which reduces 97% of the infrared light coming through... so the evening sun setting over the water doesn't bake the room.

They are also double-paned, and the inner pane is an ElectroChromic layer, which can provide rapid visible-light tint at the push of a button - perfect for when its's time for sleep or the sun is just too bright the next morning after a night at the bars.

But why use buttons? An Amazon Echo Dot built into a nook in the wall can communicate with a SmartThings hub in the small hand-carved-wood electronics cabinet (out of frame here) and not only activate the EC windows but also the motorized track on the wooden shutters outside - for those times when you do want total privacy. A simple voice command makes it happen. It even anticipates your needs with daily schedule settings so the soft morning light can wake you up by retracting the shutters and setting the EC glass to transparent each morning at dawn. A Nest thermostat keeps everything balmy or cozy depending on the time of day, or day of the week.

While you're in the bath, of course, the Dot will play your current Audible book from your Kindle collection over the built-in-ceiling speakers using its Bluetooth radio, or switch to that classical Pandora channel you've been cultivating for years when you're tired of the book and just want to rest.

Finally, the two small lights in the alcoves in the rear wall are actually multi-colored and dimmable wifi-connected LEDs, so they can flash various colors when different events happen, such as the local fruit-&-vegetable vendor bringing your semi-weekly order to your gate downstairs or getting a phone call from a particular person in your favorites list.

You live a comfortable life.

$20 for a stack of cut acrylic? You've got to do a much better job at explaining the value proposition here. Especially when the average person is not going to have any idea what it is you're selling.

Also - pictures, pictures, pictures. The average person will spend 5 seconds on your website tops, read 1 sentence (the heading), look at the pics, and leave. Your pictures look like they were taken in your backyard in the dark. Go buy:

u/LavernicaDeLuca · 4 pointsr/Blogging

What I would do is pick up some daylight CFL or LED bulbs (should be under $20 total) so you can get the closest to natural light and then focus on bouncing the light or diffusing it.

Example CFL bulbs: http://www.amazon.com/EcoSmart-Equivalent-Spiral-Daylight-4-Pack/dp/B0042UN1U0

Then, put them in lamps that you can direct towards your work area (clip-on flexible neck lamps like this) and try this method of diffusing the light.

u/zackandreweli · 4 pointsr/homelab

You could try these screen darkening sheets. I have them or something similar on a few bright LCD screens and they work pretty well. Just cut to size and stick on!

Exactly. I have a couple full spectrum CFLs and my herb garden is growing quite nicely during this winter. They are expensive but well worth it. Have 1 85W and 4 45W. It also kicks SADs ass

I got a full-spectrum daylight-simulating CFL light bulb from Amazon a few years ago and it's great. Sunlamps for SAD were like $70 when I checked - those bulbs are $5 each and can be used in regular lamps. Here's an even cheaper version.

u/tuckedfexas · 3 pointsr/succulents

Can't remember their name atm, but they're growing fine. I wouldn't think of these new extensions as 'pups' so much as 'arms' or 'branches' like you would see on a prickly pear. This is one of mine for example, haven't had them very long but they can be removed and eventually grow roots and become their own plant. They take a long time to do so though, easily 3 months or more. Your's are still too small to remove, the bud would run out of nutrients before it was able to develop a root system that could sustain itself. Best bet is to let them grow!

I'm not sure how this species would show etiolation, it's pretty slow growing and I feel like it would die from lack of light before it was able to etiolate. My advice would be to spend a few dollars and get a grow light, I can recommend this one since it was the one I first got (and still have, it's now heating a snake enclosure, haha). It's not super powerful, so it needs to be relatively close (a foot away or so). Others here have used LED lights, but I don't have any experience with them and can't speak to their effectiveness.

u/Liquor_N_Whorez · 3 pointsr/gardening

Most of the info you'll find online for indoor grow bulbs will partain to pot (weed) growing. If it's legal where you are, I say go for it but ordering lights off of some sights can get you on a list of sorts that maybe you don't want to be on lol.

These are fairly cheap cfl's and I reccomend these types over the longer larger u shaped tube cfls. https://www.amazon.com/Hydroponic-Full-Spectrum-Light-5500K/dp/B005P29K1S

I say this because I've not had good luck or life span out of the others, but with smaller ones like these I've had great success.

But here's some L.E.D. types that you may be able to afford that last much longer

https://www.amazon.com/Lights-Spectrum-Indoor-Succulents-Seedling/dp/B07FKF6BT4

These links ought to get you started at looking at some options. Hell, I just was super shocked at how much the price tags have gone down in the last 3 years since I bought some for myself! Lol... Now I'm gonna have to do some reinvesting also!

u/FizixPhun · 3 pointsr/succulents

So the light intensity, which is given in lumens, is really the important thing. Lumens scale with power though. I just mean don't get the tiny light bulbs. I have used this one. A reflector lamp isn't the most aesthetically pleasing but it is the cheapest way to get the job done. These can give you a lot of intensity right under the bubl but because the bulb is small the really good area is not too large. The advantage of the T5 bulb is that it is that they distribute the light over a longer distance. giving weaker light but over a larger area which means you just need to have the light on longer in a given day. Also, remember that intensity falls off with distance squared so you get the biggest bang for your buck by putting the succulents close to the light.

u/KingGr33n · 3 pointsr/microgrowery

More light is a must... you can get 60w full spectrum CFL for $14 on amazon. That in itself would help out a lot.

Your pot is also small. And if you only have soil for your grow medium you might need to add something like Perlite to help aerate the soil.

In the end, your gonna get out what you put in. Right now it does not look like your putting too much in.

u/HeyFever · 3 pointsr/microgrowery

Do you work in Somalia?

A single LED bulb costs $9. Many electric companies sell them directly for around $3 if you're a customer. In addition, they have a lifespan of 20 years. And they'll save you $25 per year in electricity costs.

It takes 4 months for the $9 LED to pay for itself.

u/FatalDosesOfOsmosis · 3 pointsr/Landlord

Nothing but Spam.

Who would've guessed low energy lightbulbs save money.

Nevermind, the article is literally just a paragraph about a single brand of lightbulbs OP is trying to get you to buy.

But, if you're interested, here's the Non-Referral link to the lightbulbs in question:

u/dragonpc_ca · 3 pointsr/buildapc

I've used the HUE and the DeepCool RGB 350 (which both items you linked seem to be rebrands of) and actually prefer the DeepCool, even though it's cheaper.

The sticking is better (magnetic), the lights are brighter, and you get two short strips instead of one super long one making it easier to find places inside your case. Only downside is that you're stuck with the pre-set colors on the remote, but they have most bases covered with those.

u/k8ne · 3 pointsr/haworthia

I don't have super helpful advice as I don't have the space for a large collection. I use my lights year around, tho I truck my plants outside as much as possible during the summer.

I have these bulbs.

And I just pop one into a desk lamp, which is plugged into this automatic timer.

The timer does have a slight learning curve to it, but it's so nice to have something that does all the work of turning my light off and on.

The bulbs are great and cheap. I usually rotate my plants closer and further away every other day or so. I find if I leave them directly under it (about 5-6 inches away) for too many days, they will skip right thru pretty stress to ugly stress. In the dark depths of winter, I might pull out my red and blue light gooseneck as a supplement to make me feel better, but I really don't think I'll need it, and that usually has to be within 2-3 inches tops to be any good.

u/Infini-Bus · 3 pointsr/LSD

Amazon has both - LIFX and Philips Hue

I know the Hue bulbs require a "hub" to connect to a router, but LIFX don't. I also see these at like Best Buy and Home Depot.

Eccentriczebpajamas, congrats!

Fellow hEDS, got married last July (pre-diagnosis), and I think I’ve got some ideas for you:

For the shoes, not sure where to look - I have really HUGE feel (size 12-13 women’s), so I struggled too, but ended up finding a cheap pair that looked great and kinda worked for me. They were tolerable but not comfortable, and I regret not focusing more time on finding a better pair.

For the registry, I’ve had really good luck with the OXO Good Grips series of stuff (their handles are chunky enough that I don’t tend to sublux my fingers, even gripping hard)

The can opener I use is a blue version of this one: (OXO Good Grips Can Opener https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004OCJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5-Z.zbZ5E94HD)

They also have a kitchen starter set that might be good to work with:(OXO Good Grips 15-Piece Everyday Kitchen Tool Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IELD9A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Ka0.zbT8JYQX5)

When I can cook, I use these gloves instead of potholders - they’re great for the heat, don’t require as much hand strength/fine motor skills as potholders would, and also do a great job at gripping/opening stuck can lids: (Silicone Oven Gloves Extra Thick Heat Resistant Oven Mitts from Aocome, for Cooking Grilling BBQ and Baking, Quilted Cotton Lining, Waterproof Non-Slip Grip Food Grade Safe 1 Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J76A9AI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_id0.zbEAKKA40)

For sitting, this chair is my favorite. Looks goofy, but hurts WAY less than anything else I’ve tried:
(Gaiam Balance Ball Chair - Classic Yoga Ball Chair with 52cm Stability Ball, Pump & Exercise Guide for Home or Office, Purple https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006FFR37W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6e0.zb9Y7MDYQ)

A WiFi blood pressure monitor like the one from Nokia (I have the older Withings version) can be great for helping keep track of your overall health (along with things like FitBits, WiFi thermometers, etc., if you’re into that: (Nokia BPM+ – Compact Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071F2MC29/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Qg0.zb3J5YKKN)

Finally, if you have room, a shower stool can be super helpful if you spend too many spoons in one place and struggle to stand up in the shower (there are lots of types, including pretty wooden ones, but this type is really easy to assemble): (Medokare Shower Stool with Padded Seat - Shower Seats for Seniors with Tote Bag, Shower Bench Bath Chair, Handicap Shower Seat for Adults, Shower Stools and Benches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XXZQ4XS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mj0.zb5C9TRYX)

Oh! And bonus last-minute add: overhead lights that you can turn off from your phone, so you can go to bed and THEN turn off the lights, instead of trying to fumble your way across your room in the dark (they can also turn your room into a bright rainbow disco, if you’re into that): (Philips Hue 464479 60W Equivalent White and Color Ambiance A19 Starter Kit, 3rd Generation, Works with Amazon Alexa https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y3QXSGX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0l0.zb2N2PB53)

Good luck, and I hope you have a wonderful wedding day!

...ETA, this set of pots and pans! They have big rubbery handles that are easy to work with, and they’re easy to clean - they can go straight into the dishwasher: (The Pioneer Woman Vintage Speckle 10-Piece Non-Stick Pre-Seasoned Cookware Set (Turquiose) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014X6NQI4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ov0.zb32WQSJ3)

The US version of that form factor is e12 and they are available right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07177XMF9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_u-eZzb5SAFJXN

It is slightly different than the European e14, so I would double check which type you have before you order though.

Here’s the color kit I have. If you look at the product info and comparison table you’ll see the variations. If you see the color kit for less than $180-199 then most likely it’s a seller offloading older stock. They’re up to gen four on the bulbs now and the color reproduction gets better and better so I recommend getting the new stock.

Lake is still cold from the mild summer, this winter will be worse.
I bought a humongus all-spectrum lightbulb, it's like 10 inches tall, full spectrum, and installed it in my closet where I have my computer setup. I'm basically doing light therapy while working on computer stuffs.

http://www.amazon.com/Full-Spectrum-Light-Bulb-Fluorescent/dp/B0019HZQPM/ref=pd_bia_nav_t_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1E39YCJY8MV9PGTY3CWN

I also removed all my 100% cotton items from my wardrobe and put them away for storage, so I don't accidentally go out in something that will soak up sweat/rain/melted snow in the -5 degree 30 mph winds.

I also pulled out all my cold temp gear and fixed any holes.

I bubble wrapped and card boarded my windows, caulked the seams (removable) and plastic wrapped them, tight as a drum, and nailed a fleece blanket over them, and then a heavy duty curtain to hide it all. I also sealed my door cracks with foam tape. I also got a cool touch humidifier and strapped a high grade furnace filter to the back of a box fan. I have a highly controlled environment in my bedroom, even with the house thermostat set to 69, my room is a constant 80 degrees, about 50% humidity and air filtered.

I got loads of food in the basement, and I plan to make a market trip once a month and stock up and just keep the perishables in coolers in the airlock/mudroom (which is currently below freezing).

This is my 3rd Chicago winter, being from Los Angeles I was so under prepared. I'm looking forward to surviving this one in style.

Super low energy population. Coming from Florida, this is terrible. I have 5 70 watt compact fluorescent lights (300 equivalent) in my living room that I use to help with the dark (heh, they're not too compact). It's like a Latvia joke. Very dark. Very cold.

I haven't experienced any talk of Trump at all, except to bash him. The people around the workplace that can vote are extremely interested in Bernie...and we have a large amount of people here on H1-Bs. Hurts the salary and opportunities, methinks.

I'm biding my time until I can be disconnected from the northwest...it's a pretty place, but the weather, and most of the people, really are low energy.

LEDs require a specific current, not a specific voltage. I know that sounds odd, but these COB LEDs will continue to consume current until they burn out, so they need a constant current driver in order to regulate the current that's delivered to them. The actual voltage that is delivered can vary, but it's typically somewhere between 12V and 48V.

I have the materials to build just such a setup, but I've read that the Cree COB LEDs I have don't put out a very good light spectrum for plants. I've got the goods, though, so we'll see how it works out.

While I'm talking about it, here are the light sources I have:

Two of these little ones: 14w, 800 lumens, 5000K http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0042UN1U0

u/xPofsx · 2 pointsr/shroomers

Ok, I'll tell you what you can do to get a few oz's of shroomy delight for yourself for a measly ~$150.

This is going to be my take on growing, or in other words - pofs' tek. Yea...I like the sound of that. Except it's not going to be very detailed.

Pofs' Tek - A guide for the partially lazy

So, basically, I cut out a few steps - that of making your own substrate and and sterilizing it and prepping a bunch of jars and grain spawn. I use Out-Grow's bulk supplies package which consists of 4 quart jars of sterilized rye grain, and 4 lbs of compost (manure-based substrate) and it costs $35 + shipping which was $15 for me for a total of $50

Then I used a 13.5qt clear bin I bought from amazon made by Iris, which cost $5/ea + $4 shipping (which is a steal in bulk, but you'll only need 1 for this guide) which will cost $9, or $59 total

I did this inside so I used a Timer($7), a Lamp Cord ($9), and a 6500k cfl ($8) for a total of $24 on this part (which can be replaced by sunlight if you have a room with natural lighting) and a total of $83

I used spores from lilshopofspores.com - b+ to be specific. I've switched to thehawkeye.com's spores since, because they are cheaper and come with a lot more spores inside the syringe. You'll run around $15-$30 for spores no matter where you get em and bring the total to $113 assuming $30 for syringe and shipping.

I also bought Polyfill ($7) for a total of $120 bare minimum start price.

And now you have all of the essentials.

I'll write the growing process later.

Look at Agrobrite CFLs, they make higher watt ones. This one, for example.

And yeah, I don't trust most red/blue LEDs.. I think a lot of folks buy them for the price point and find later that their plants etiolate quite a bit.

u/crossfox98 · 2 pointsr/IndoorGarden

Hey! I have a completely indoor Meyer as well next to a window that doesn't get a lot of light. I use an Agrosun CFL bulb in one of those cheap shop clip lights on a 12 hr timer. Works great, tree has produced multiple rounds of lemons. I have the bulb about 1 foot above the center of the tree.

http://www.amazon.com/AGROSUN-CFL-32W-Equivalent-160W/dp/B0055F4VB4

u/donut_warfare · 2 pointsr/plants

That guy is pretty etiolated. Just because they are near a window doesn't mean they are getting adequate light. I have my succulents on a west-facing windowsill that gets blasted with super bright sunset light and yet they are STILL etiolating. You might want to either invest in a grow light or put in on a south-facing window. If you want to do a grow light (which I realize you are in an office and space is valuable), this clip lamp and this bulb.

u/Pizzabagelpizza · 2 pointsr/houseplants

I have a similar situation, I think. I do have windows, but not the greatest light. Some plants, especially further from the windows, need a little extra boost.

I’ve been using a white CFL bulb for plants in a regular floor lamp. I have them on timers so they’re on 12 hours per day, and they look very unobtrusive in the house.

u/FussyParts · 2 pointsr/cactus

I tried this before. I had an Echeveria Solstice that ended up pretty etiolated. They're highly dependent on sunshine, so this was no surprise. It wouldn't even keep over winter.

However, I found that some of my cactuses were OK, only over the winter, if I supplemented a window with about three of these, two of which were closer to 6400 K (color temperature).

Again, that was 3 really high powered lights all shining on the same area, and this was just to keep them happy while relatively dormant over winter. Definitely no permanent substitute for natural light, sorry.

u/LongUsername · 2 pointsr/gardening

You can start/grow lots of stuff inside in the winter if you have the right setup. If your apartment includes electricity and heat, you're sitting pretty!

Grow lamps can be bought easily. A few small plants can be done using just a compact florescent grow bulb. For more plants getting a 4ft shop light and grow tubes is the more efficient way. Keep the light as close to the plants as you can. Grow bulbs are key as normal lights usually don't have the right wavelengths for growing plants.

Using a 4ft shop light with grow bulbs I kept parsley and basil going all winter in my college apartment. My dad starts artichokes inside when it's 10F outside using this method, and starts tomatoes, peppers, and other plants as well (seed starting mats help too if your apartment is cold)

Look into the /r/IndoorGarden, /r/hydroponics, /r/hydroponic, /r/HydroponicGardening subs and related stuff. You DON'T have to go hydro to grow indoors: you can still use pots with potting soil. Some people use it to grow a SPECIFIC plant that they don't want others to see, so it can be an issue if you're doing a lot of indoor gardening with lots of lights or buying at a shop that "caters" to that clientele. They have a lot of experience and information though, so it's a tough call how much you want to cross paths with them.

u/usernamesaretrite · 2 pointsr/hydro

Hey,
I'm rather new to hydroponics and so I had to do a little experimenting as I go along. Keep in mind I have a small hydro setup of about 24 plants.

I recently picked up this bad boy from home depot:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lithonia-Lighting-4-Light-T5-White-High-Output-Fluorescent-High-Bay-IBC-454-MV/202838871

I use a vertical hydroponics setup, which, for obvious design reasons, means the plants at the bottom get screwed out of the valuable light based simply on their position. In the meantime I picked up this light to help with the sprouting process:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P29K1S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I thought this light was the bees knees. I even started using it to compensate some of the lower plants. So then I picked up this bad boy:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FRCUHY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This light is incredible. It's 12" so expect a doozy of a light. I put an 8 1/2" reflector on it and then used tin foil to extend the reflector so that it actually worked as a reflector. Since then, I use the lights on the lower plants via a hanging light system. The system is: extension cord + polarized light bulb adapter + light bulb. I'm in the process of testing it now but in the future the last light bulbs are the best bang for your buck and extremely modular to work with (if you like to tinker with your system modular parts go a long way).

Anyway, hope that helps!

All the lights used a part of a Philips Hue system. There is a bulb in the lamp, two bloom lights for the wall, and a Hue Lightstrip inside the PC. They are controllable from my phone/pc. They are RGB, and the Hue system allows for some pretty fun colors!

u/SyntheticBiology · 2 pointsr/maryland

Seriously! They've come down massively in price, they aren't full of mercury like CFLs are, they don't have a CFL's warm-up time, they work with dimmer switches, and they're now significantly pulling ahead of CFLs in terms of energy efficiency.

>On Amazon, the Phillips 12.W EnduraLED costs about $30.

There's the problem, 60W LED bulbs are between $6
and $12, not $30. I just bought ten at $5.94 from Home Depot.

That and a 60W equivalent uses 9 to 10W, not the 12W from the article, so power usage is reduced by 83 to 85 percent.

Edit: A mix of 6 x 75 watt ($12), 4 x 100 watt ($20), and 10 x 60 watt bulbs ($6) would cost $212.

Edit 2: there's only a few percent of households paying 6 cents, the rest are paying much more. http://www.eia.gov/electricity/state/ , a state average of 9.4 cents.

u/ztsuchanek · 2 pointsr/personalfinance

25 euros for one seems insane. This is what LED pricing looks like here in the states, it shouldn’t be THAT far off over there, especially not 10-20x more. $26.01 for a 16 pack of LEDs.

The tech has exploded recently, and is becoming mass produced, so I would recommend checking again at the prices. They may have changed dramatically in a couple of years.

u/0ju3wb2zvk · 2 pointsr/Hydroponics

I'm currently using these light bulbs half-and-half with warm whites and daylights. I went with these for exactly the same reasons you mentioned; less work and money. I wired up a bunch of normal light bulb sockets like a giant Christmas light. I feel like it wasn't much less work compared to setting up LED COBs with COB holders like in this guide.

One problem I have with this setup is the lack of adequate heat sinks. These bulbs heat up more than I'm comfortable with, and I can't do much about it. I mean it should be fine, since it's Philips and it's meant to be on all day as normal household lights, but it melts Mylar on contact and I don't like that. I would really like to stick a huge chunk of aluminum on it. It's just a matter of preference, though. You might not mind it at all since you are using something way hotter than LED light bulbs.

One nice thing about LED light bulbs compared to CFL other than the higher efficiency is that the lighting globe part isn't hot at all, so the leaves can be literally right on it and be happy (as long as they don't touch the hot part right behind the frosty globe and get fried instantly).

u/YouCanIfYou · 2 pointsr/electricians

A more focused on 'workstation' tasks, but you'll still easily play games like Overwatch on ultra 60+ fps at 1080p with a 1050ti.

The E5 1230 is very similar to an i7 6700, but without integrated graphics (which won't matter). 32gb's of memory might be a bit overkill, but if you plan on having the entire Adobe suite open at the same time it'll help. Another thing that will help a lot is the 950 PRO, it's expensive but damn it's fast. I suggest you install your OS and software there and store your projects / games on the 2tb hdd i included. The case isn't anything special, but it's white and it has a Window. If you're looking for LED's, a cheap option would be DeepCool's magnetic rgb strips for $20, or you can go all out and get the NZXT Hue + for $60.

It's maxing out your budget at $1000, but gives a pretty powerful workstation.

u/Viper999DC · 2 pointsr/Hue

Hue sells many different configurations of the starter kit, with different amounts and types of bulbs. The cheaper one likely has fewed bulbs, and probably only white bulbs. Older kits can also be cheaper. My opinion is that if you're going to get smart bulbs that don't do color, then you're better of with smart switches. The Hue "white" bulbs are a really ugly yellow that I can't stand. White Ambiance is a nice middle ground, at half the cost of the color bulbs, while giving you full control over the "warmth" spectrum. So you can change your lighting to match the time of day, for instance.

This is the cheapest kit I see on Amazon.com. It's basically the cost of the bridge with 2 white bulbs. Then you have the non-refurb for slightly more. This one is still white bulbs, but now you have 4. This one is like the first kit, but with a dimmer switch. I recommend dimmer switches, as otherwise guests will use the wall switch, disabling your smart bulbs. Then you start getting into the white ambiance kits, this one with a dimmer and 2 bulbs. Finally the color bulb kits will be the most expensive.

So, what's right for you? Depends on what you want. Usually you want to buy the starter kit that has a "free bridge". Use the following price chart to determine the value of your kit:

  • White bulb: $15 ea.
  • White Ambiance bulb: $25 ea.
  • White & Color Abiance bulb: $50 ea.
  • Dimmer switch: $20 ea.
  • Motion Sensor: $40 ea.

If the kit costs the value of it's contents or less, it's worthwhile. If it costs more than that, you're paying for the bridge. Usually the cheaper kits will have you paying more for the bridge. By the time you get into the 4-color-pack range they're giving you a credit.

Now, all that said, if your concern is cheap DO NOT BUY INTO HUE! It's extremely expensive, probably the priciest smart bulb. Ikea Tradfri and LiFX both have cheaper options that are similar in quality. Or if you really want cheap, go with Sengled. Hue is the premium option.

I finally just replaced my lightstrip which wont even reconnect anymore with the hue one on prime day. That was a waste of money (for the OSRAM).

u/Astrali3 · 2 pointsr/succulents

I typically advise people to avoid those cheap LEDs because they're typically...trash. I've used one and while it certainly did slow the rate of etiolation, the succs did etiolate.

I use a Viparspectra 300w, but that is for full indoor all-year-round growth. A couple of T5 or T8 fluorescents would probably be best for you, to be honest, if you can attach them to some shelving. Something like these, that are listed above, should work.

u/laicarys · 2 pointsr/succulents

I use the same shelf that laui linked (though I think there’s a 5 shelf version if you’d rather use that), but use these lights instead.

I wanted as many lumens per light that I could get since someone on here said that you should aim for at least 6000 lumens, but I’ve also seen setups with 4400 lumens per shelf (4 of the lights laui linked per shelf) that are able to get stress colors. I currently use 1 light per Haworthia shelf and 2 lights per everything else shelf.

u/photoaday_ · 2 pointsr/succulents

I have a wide variety of succulents and I'm worried about how to make sure they get the right amount of light. I have IDs for about 2/3rds of my 50 plants. My main worry is my split rock collection and my lithops since they're my favorites, but I really want everyone to make it through winter. Should I get everyone ID'd and try to find more specific instructions?

We're in the middle of moving but don't have a place yet so I'm not sure how much natural light I'll have to work with, especially as it gets colder and keeping blinds/curtains drawn will be necessary. Right now I have a not-very-good temporary purple grow light set up just to try and help them make it through. After we move I'm planning on getting shelving and proper lights.

Based on a recommendation I'm looking at this shelving and these lights. Will those be enough for a wide variety of succulents if they can't get much natural light?

u/Moskeeto93 · 2 pointsr/googlehome

The dimmer is pretty pricey and specifically made for Hue lights.

The other product, I've gotten for half-price what it is on Amazon right now. It won't connect to the Hue bridge though so I have it connected through Smartthings to control my Hue lights.

u/OssotSromo · 2 pointsr/smarthome

Also, no true switch that I know of will do what you're saying - keep the line hot but send a zigbee signal to turn off. They'll all cut the power. Even smart ones.

Other than the obvious Hue dimmers that have been around forever I have my eye on the Lutron Aurora Dimmer. They don't come out until next week, but all the early reviews are positive and since you're already using hue lights it should be almost zero setup on your end.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RJ14FBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_OftiDb55V6NRX

u/coogie · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Generally speaking, you have to pick either a smart bulb or a smart dimmer, but not both. The reason is that a smart bulb needs to get clean power and a dimmer is designed to chop up the sine wave so in order to fix the flickering issue, you'd have to replace the ancient rotary dimmer that you have with a $1 switch and just leave it on all the time and use the app or whatever to control the light.

Lutron very recently came out with a nifty little product called the Aurora which gives you the best of both worlds by leaving the switch on all the time and adding a virtual rotary which will communicate with the Hue bulbs however so if that's your only switch, this is a nice option.

If you have a lot of switches, I highly suggest you stop using smart bulbs and just replace your dimmers and switches with smart dimmers. Lutron's Caseta is a great system for that.

I was checking out a lot of the huge CFL's. I'm thinking maybe 64 (8 rows of 8) of these, each in a reflective housing, mounted above a ripstop diffuser? Perhaps the surrounding ceiling around the lights could be painted white just for good measure, whatever it may achieve. I'm unsure how to figure out how many of these I would need... I will have to do some research so I can find math to do.

I know these put out a low amount of heat, but would it be wise to install a few fans to circulate some air above the canvas?

Thanks for your input. Every little bit helps!

https://www.amazon.com/Lavish-Home-Sunlight-Floor-White/dp/B003T5KIL4

I don't know if you're a reader, but I tend to load up on lighthearted, warm area centric novels so that I can at least imagine being in a bright, sunny place. It helps a lot.

No worries! Have you looked in to this type of bulb:

I have a pack sitting in my closet right now in case my leds end up not being enough and I notice signs of etiolation. You can fit in a desk lamp or a clamp lamp. I don’t know how bright they are though, haven’t plugged any in. But I’ve heard good reviews on here about them.

u/aerogrower · 1 pointr/microgrowery

So this morning when I left for work all I could see was still the white stem way down in the hole. I got home to my first set of cotyledons and also first of real leaves!

I also got a ph control kit today, and it looks like my ph is sitting right around 6, so I believe that is perfect.

I was planning on just giving this a shot with minimal effort to see how it goes. Growing a variety of herbs in the Aerogarden was super easy, and it was hard to keep all the growth under control.

After doing more reading(because when I start doing something I have to do it right) I realized that the LED panel on the Aerogarden isn't even close to the wattage that anyone else is using. The starter package on growweedeasy.com includes a 250w light. The one on the Aerogarden is 20w, but the directions say you can keep it just a couple inches above the plant, whereas all the other guides for higher wattage lights say they need to be kept much further away. I would guess that is just because they have so much more wattage?

I grow lots of normal plants as well and don't get too much actual sunlight, so I have a couple extra reflectors, CFLs, and another LED grow bulb sitting around. I have 1x LED! and 2x CFL! extra.

How does mixing LED and CFLs work? I'm thinking I will need to get this thing all the light I can. Should I get a light socket extender and splitter so that I can get both the CFLs into a reflector, and also use the extra LED?

I plan on low stress training it to keep it as short as possible as the Aerogarden light only extends 12inches. I am able to extend that a few more inches using that knife with a stick taped to it, but then the cable becomes the limiting factor.

I also don't plan on moving it out of the 1gal Aerogarden reservoir, so it will probably be limited in size by that as well. The aerogarden comes with these nutrients!(4-3-6) that I had been planning to follow their recommendations of use which is basically give it 2 capfuls(maybe a couple mL) every other week when you change out the reservoir water. In between feedings just keep the water level high. Should I actually buy legit nutes!, or will the Aerogarden ones do a pretty good job?

Sooo I guess my questions are:
Anyone grown with an Aerogarden before? How'd it work? Any tips?
Anyone mixed LED and CFL lights before? Is that fine to do?
I should definitely use all the lights currently available to me, and I should probably even get a couple more 42w soft white CFLs right?
My goal was to keep this cheap and easy, but I'm thinking I should also get another timer for all these extra lights I plan on using now. Using the Aerogarden timer for the 20w LED and then turning on the other lights manually probably won't be anywhere near as effective, and also takes away from the easy factor.
Can I use the aerogarden nutes to keep this easy and cheap, or should I get some legit nutes?

Thanks!!

I don't have the box anymore but I'm fairly confident this is close to what I have.

u/Current_Selection · 1 pointr/succulents

I've been browsing the grow light thread and thinking about getting more succulents before winter, and would like some input on which setup seems better or if you would recommend something else entirely. This adjustable growlight which has a gooseneck and clip (also comes with option for timer) or this bulb and this clamp light? I currently don't have many succulents at all (which obviously can change) so I don't need the light to cover a huge area. Should I set up a specific area to do this with shelving etc (please recommend if so) or is on top of a cedar chest on trays fine?

I'm pretty new to this and appreciate any advice I can get here.

u/seanu13 · 1 pointr/SavageGarden

I use T5HOs for my other CPs, but for the neps I just have them under a couple of these large CFL grow lights with aluminum reflectors. I'd like to get either a new T5 strip or maybe play with LEDs (I have a couple that my pings like, but I've only just put a nep under one today). I grow orchids under the CFLs which is plenty for them, and had space on the shelf for the neps is how that happened.

This is the CFL.

I kind of feel like I could use more light for the nepenthes, so I'll likely be getting a new T5 fixture soon.

u/jonathon8903 · 1 pointr/gardening

Personally I use this and it works well if you are not looking to light a lot of plants.

u/Im_A_Boonana · 1 pointr/SavageGarden

I grow my VFT and D. Capensis inside using a CFL light/can light from amazon. They thrive if you leave it on all day. This is the one that I have and it works beautifully

The glass vase might be another problem as well. Maybe not what you're dealing with currently but like someone else said, you need to have a way for the water to drain. I would suggest an unglazed ceramic pot. It should be inert enough for carnivorous plants and they're extremely breathable. The only thing to consider is that minerals can build up in it, so once a year or so, either replace the pot or soak it in distilled water.

Highly recommend Phillip's Hue products, they're great and the API is pretty neat to work with. They have a light strip which integrates perfectly.

u/dontsitonthewalrus · 1 pointr/DIY

What is your budget? If you're looking for the top-of-the-line item, this would be it:

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-259982-Personal-Lightstrip-Frustration/dp/B00I12XOES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408976663&sr=8-1&keywords=hue+light+strip

Controllable by your phone with a ton of settings. You can also opt for the bulbs instead of the light strip. Both ways will run you around $200 (includes the wireless module).

u/darga89 · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

Have a nearby outlet or space for a large UPS? Philips also makes a LED strip which works with that wireless switch. Recharging the UPS would get a little annoying though so an outlet would be best.

u/fitzkits · 1 pointr/AskBattlestations

It was from Costco, I bought it about a year ago. I think it was this one, but if you search "led strip with remote" on Amazon, you'll see several that are a lot cheaper.

Are you talking about these or something else? It seems insane that these would be marked up to 10x the price.

u/74orangebeetle · 1 pointr/led

I've gotten random chinese led's off of ebay. Some are alright, some are not so great. I wouldn't buy a large number of a kind you haven't tried. Walmart started carrying great value brand 40w replacements($5) and 60w replacement (~$7) that I think are decent (and I believe 2700k) and that's what I use in my bedroom at the moment. I got the cheaper non dimmable, and they're better in downward facing lamps (not as good multidirectional) Home depot carries some "philips slim style" (http://www.amazon.com/Philips-433227-Equivalent-SlimStyle-Dimmable/dp/B00I134ORI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1421924669&sr=8-2&keywords=philips+slim+style)

That are dimmable and produce light in all directions that are decent too. Only downside is a very faint buzzing sound (not loud, but it's there) emitted from them.

u/myfrstbkt · 1 pointr/SpaceBuckets

Here's the basic parts list to build a bucket like this:

  • 2x 5 Gal buckets with lids (one for res, one for light top.) More buckets for spacers. (check your home improvement store of choice.)
  • A big roll of black duct tape. This
  • A roll of FlexFix tape. This
  • A couple of space blankets. This
  • A can of 3M spray adhesive. This is the good stuff
  • 5x light sockets with plug ends. These
  • 5x Philips SlimStyle LED "75w" 2700k. These
  • Some heatshrink tubing. Looks good
  • Some lamp cord and hookup wire. This, And This
  • A roll of flux/rosin core solder. Your Choice, this looks okay
  • An airpump. This one is awesome, This will do
  • Some airstones. [This] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JLA83C/)
  • A distribution manifold. At least a 3 way
  • Some air lines. This, Or This
  • A length of 3/4" pvc pipe and a plug (check your home improvement store of choice).
  • A water dripper system. [This] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002JAY6E/)
  • Either a netpot and a bucket lid with a hole cut in it OR a premade netpot/bucket lid. This if you want to save some work
  • Some PC fans. [These are nice and cheap] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NTUJZ36/)
  • A PSU to run the fans and LED strip side lights you might add on spacers. This. It's 80+ at least. I had a few extra PSUs around. I wouldn't use one that isn't at least 80+ since it will be running 24/7.

Lots of this stuff can be had cheaper at a home improvement or pet store. Check around. You'll need a soldering iron (I like my adjustable 40w), a drill and drill bits up to 3/4" (I like step bits for work on plastic), a heatgun or lighter to shrink that heatshrink tubing. An infrared thermometer is nice to have and can tell you the temp of your nutrients, the plant itself, your lights, etc...Just make sure to calibrate it first, all the cheap ones are inaccurate by at least a few degrees.

I have relaunched homebridge and now all the other accessories work within HomeKit https://photos.app.goo.gl/DYH1E5hHLnJoAihB8. I don't understand why it works without the accessory above in the config.json file. Any suggestions?

  • Get the Msi z270 carbon pro, a lot cheaper and can OC just as good

  • Don't bother with the vengeance RAM sticks. They light up, but with RGB fans and a $20 RGB LED strip, you'll have more than enough light.

  • Opt for the 1080 ti SC2 edition from EVGA. Has the same ICX cooling technology and is around $719. Just doesn't light up, but once again, hardly noticeable with RGB fans and LEDs.

  • There are cheaper fans than the noctua ones. Corsair AF140 mm Fans are much cheaper, silent and have more lights than a military base on full alert.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Bayco-150-Watt-Incandescent-Portable-Work-Light/3122291

and one or two of these

fancy lights can be a ripoff and you can get the same thing by just doing your own LED's. make sure you go by watts used and not watt equivalents

u/rabidelfman · 1 pointr/PlantedTank

Tons. If you're looking for ready-made lights, Finnex makes some great options. It also depends on the depth to the substrate. The Finnex Stingray is 30 PAR at 12", same with the Current Freshwater Plus, the Stingray being much less expensive. I would suggest using two 24" on either side. You could use a single 48" light, since it's LED and won't nuke the plastic.

Alternatively, these fixtures are cheap, and you can use bulbs like this. You can either set them on top of your glass top, or hang them. Very cheap, very good lighting.

u/Xme1 · 1 pointr/IndoorGarden

I think you would benefit from 6500k more than 5000k. Something about having blue in the spectrum or something.
https://www.amazon.com/Equivalent-Standard-Energy-Saving-Daylight/dp/B01FYGDX3A

Also I've read a lot about just using those CFL bulbs (the spiral bulbs) but you have to make sure they aren't close to the plant because they radiate heat.

u/notatthetablecarlos · 1 pointr/PlantedTank

If you have around 8 inches above your tanks, I think the home depot clamp lights with some generic 6500k led bulbs do a great job, plus it's pretty cheap and easy to add more or less lighting depending on your needs. I used a dremel to cut off the diffuser on mine, and I think it makes a difference in how strong the lighting is.

u/240strong · 1 pointr/AquaSwap

It's actually just a clamp light like you get from home Depot or Lowe's or any big box hardware store. They're all the same really roughly cost around 6-10 bucks. I got 2 of these off Amazon for about 16 bucks, and bought a 6 pack of 6500k LED lights as well for I believe 23?

The fluorescent lights are 2ft. These ones: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GU4RMC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I couldn't find 3ft lights I liked (although I think they would be too long), so I went with the 2ft and augmented them with a couple of simple reflectors with these bulbs: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FYGDX3A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

The whole setup is about 3ft wide. The shelving unit is a simple rolling set of shelves. For each shelf, I made a square frame and screwed wire mesh into it, otherwise the spacing on the shelves is too much and the pots tip over when trying to move them. Then the whole thing gets wrapped in a mylar emergency blanket. They're super reflective and keep a lot of the light in.

I have a lamp in the back of my room here with this bulb to change the colours. Behind the monitor on the left I have this one too.

u/TheCowardlyFrench · 1 pointr/unpopularopinion

This is the one I use. It's a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it. Especially if you have an amazon echo and you can connect your lights to your smart home. You can just tell it to turn lights on or off, color, brightness, etc.

Totally not needed however for the day night cycle.

Just need to connect the bulbs to your wifi and your phone app.

Philips Website VS Amazon for Philips Hue bulbs.

On the Philips Website I find:
http://www2.meethue.com/en-us/p/hue-white-and-color-ambiance-single-bulb-e26/046677464486

And on Amazon I find:
https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Generation-Equivalent-Compatible-Assistant/dp/B01M9AU8MB/ref=sr_1_5?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1511201049&sr=1-5&keywords=philips+hue+e26

The model numbers vary by 1. 464486 vs 464487
The descriptions are similar, but not the same.
On the philips website it says nothing about 3rd generation.
Philips calls it an E26 bulb and Amazon calls it an A19 bulb.
Philips talks about integration with Nest, Amazon talks about integration with Echo.

Are they actually the same thing? I'm a little confused at the difference.

Looks as though the hub connects to my router so I'm assuming I can identify lights individually in order to have them spread around the house and do different things?

u/tedmiston · 1 pointr/funny

Prices may have changed since your comment but here's what I see right now:

Color bulbs were $50 a piece a la carte not long ago, and they're $32 on Amazon right now. The color starter kit with 3 bulbs has been $180-200 but is $150 right now.

(50-32) ~= (200-150) / 3 so this seems inline

Now that Amazon has built-in a Hue compatible hub into the new Echo, you can start using Hue bulbs without buying the Phillips hub. Maybe other IoT voice hubs will do this too. So I think the hub is trending downward for basic users. Although I don't think the mini hubs like Echo Dot have it, so maybe not.

These are numbered by what questions have been answered!

  1. if you mean 20,000 a month like lump sum, id take the first month and just pay off the rest of my student loans, id have about 2/3 k left over and go buy my family members and I some nice things as its been a rough year. But if given as a weekly check over 4 weeks to equal 20,000 id do that exact same just have to budget it so it all works out.

  2. Oh this is something ive been wanting to do for my bed room, I would say for the house but my mom wouldnt know how to work these buuuuutttttttt I want to spruce up my lighting situation with Philips Color Hue lights. Have one in my ceiling fan light, with one behind my tv, and control them due to a smart device such as iphone/siri, or amazon echo/alexa, google home ect... You can set moods and if youre playing a scary game you can set the lights to like blood red and just say " hey siri set the lights to scary time " and youll watch the lights change from your basic white to a blood red almost, or if youre in a romantic movie night with a lover have it be a nice not to bright pink and so on and so forth im sure you get the idea. heres a link for a nice starter bundle! NOTE Im not exactly sure how to set up the moods to where you tell a home assistant to do so cause i down own any yet but my friend has it and its amazing.

  3. Id reccomend James Patterson tbh. Imsure youve heard of him, but he has great reads I think. One series of his thats great is Maximum Ride!

  4. /u/freakishkittie tbh shes been a great new friend and is always tagging me on here even though Im newish here. she still talks to me even though I forget to respond to her kik messages cause i fall asleep or too tied up in my video games like a damn loser.

This contest was great tbh. Id liked looking at your list and other such stuff to do this. not too hard but still involving. nice work!

I've actually read (though not sure if true) that more melatonin will actually worsen the situation.

The ideal dose is 0.5 to 1.0mg as I understand it.

MUCH more important though, darkness. It should be BLACK where he sleeps.

For 2-3 hours before trying to go to bed he should avoid all lights unless they're a very warm color. Blue light will affect his circadian rhythm. This is the case even in many blind people.

Key points:

  • Black room
  • Background noise. (Fan or Lectrofan)
  • Cool temperature
  • No white or blue light within several hours of sleep (To make screens redder, check out Lux for Android and Flux for PC)
  • Philips Hue light bulbs (These are mighty pricey, but for sleep, oh god. Controlling the color of the lights you surround yourself with will do a tremendous amount for keeping your circadian rhythm in check. I have gotten so much use out of these it's unbelievable.)

It really depends on how you want to accomplish it. In a something like mine scenario will be around $200 depending if you find a deal (Philips hue stuff is having discounts in different retail stores and amazon lately):

Being a night person is not the worst thing ever. All throughout college I was a night person (up till 5-6am and waking up at 1-2pm). Now I have made the transition to waking up at 4am almost everyday including weekends. If you are really dedicated to making the switch to mornings. My best advice would be to set multiple alarms (no joke like 5-6 different ones) to go off every couple of minutes, start picking up good habits in the morning(meditation/exercise/reading), and finding something to get you excited to wake up).

Another useful tool I have found is Wake-Up feature from the Hue lighting system. Waking up with the lights on already seems to be the key. But they are pricey.

u/lightknight7777 · -1 pointsr/todayilearned

It would be a terrible idea to buy a $20 LED. Even if it lasts 20 years they still get dimmer over time. The last few years would be a light bulb that is still bright enough to be considered "functional" but clearly one that should be replaced. So don't consider buying a bulb for that price.

I've just gone with discounted CFLs which meant I paid less than $2/bulb, 8 of which qualify as being on for most of the time. The energy savings in those paid for the purchase of all bulbs in the house by the third year. Hopefully by the time I have to replace them the LEDs will be that cheap on average. Though, right now it looks like I can get them for around $2/bulb.

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-461129-Equivalent-White-16-Pack/dp/B01CAL1EMY/ref=lp_2314207011_1_2_m?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1478178308&sr=1-2

So if I didn't already have efficient bulbs, that wouldn't be a bad way to go now. But for the moment I'm saving, like you said, a small amount each year already with already-paid for bulbs. All of these cost designs only deal with switching from the old type of bulbs which is definitely worth it at this point even if it's a mild difference.
