You don’t have to use the 5W charger ya know.

Also, swipe down on any page of the home screen to access a search widget that is full system search + web search. And Hey Siri is a thing. Also I can only assume you knew going into it that you were getting an LCD screen so I feel like you shouldn’t complain about it.

Apple 12W charger $19.

Charging cable from any number of Apple Certified vendors is around $6.
Lightning cable $6.

Another one

HTC Wall charger $19

Samsung Wall charger $35

Apple doesn't seem over priced for a first party accessory.

I've used this Anker PowerLine+ Lightning Cable iPhone Cable(6ft) Durable and Fast Charging Cable (Aramid Fiber & Double Braided Nylon) for iPhone 7 6s 6 SE, iPad since November last year and it's still as good as new. It's long, strong and durable plus never tangles. Apple certified as well.

You don't have to get a Lightning cable from Apple, there are a bunch of Apple-certified cables for much cheaper.

  • pacco da 50 Bic nere: ok le Bic non sono poco diffuse, ma comprarle a pacchi conviene moltissimo, in primis ovviamente per il prezzo [se avessi trovato un modo semplice per prenderle in quantità maggiori lo avrei fatto], ma ti permette anche di metterne una in ogni dove che fa molto comodo;

  • Peak Design capture: serve per sistemare la fotocamera alla cintura o a uno spallaccio dello zaino; è una cosa comodissima, molto più di qualsiasi strap se ci si muove un po' con la fotocamera;

  • auricolari completamente wireless: ho preso delle soundpeats q29, come qualità/prezzo ottimi, ma ogni tanto si disconnettono ecc, sto valutando se prendere gli airpods; il concetto comunque è lo stesso; non avere alcun cavo è fantastico; inoltre a mio parere averli staccati con un case di ricarica è molto più comodo che caricare quelli con il filo in cui spesso devi infilare un cavo in ogni auricolare ecc; sarò sincero, anche se lo ho non uso il jack audio da mesi e non lo rimpiangerò sul prossimo telefono;

Apparently a human can pre-order a dead-tree compendium here. I just did.

Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JR45HW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9lJ.BbQ80YNC7

They have a ton of different styles and lengths but I always go with the braided ones. Best thing is they have a lifetime warranty so if it does break they'll replace it. Also they're certified by apple so you won't get those "device not supported" messages.

Depends on what you want to use it for.

Your app selection becomes considerably more convenient if you load the google play store:

http://www.s-config.com/root-the-ouya-google-play/

If you want to rock some multiplayer gaming and you have an XBox 360, one of these will be super handy (adapter to use your wifi controllers through Ouya USB):

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000HZFCT2/ref=sr_1_4/187-6579901-8733413?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408936752&sr=1-4&keywords=xbox+360+wireless+adapter

Also, you'll want a nice spacious USB stick if you plan on storing lots of games:

http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Turbo-64GB-drive-P-FD64GTBOP-GE/dp/B00FDUHDAC/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408936816&sr=1-6&keywords=64+gb+usb+flash+drive

If you're low on funds maybe just opt for 32 GB:

http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-32GB-DataTraveler-Drive/dp/B004TS1J1S/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408936816&sr=1-9&keywords=64+gb+usb+flash+drive

If you plan on using several USB peripherals, I really recommend a powered USB hub:

http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Port-12-5W-Power-Adapter/dp/B00483WRZ6/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408936981&sr=1-9&keywords=powered+usb+hub

These are all suggestions and you likely have a bunch of this stuff already. Just know that most games work great with an xbox or PS3 controller. If you want just some cheap USB controllers for friends to play with, Gamestop is currently selling the Gamestick controller for $10. It's not wonderful, but that's why you make your friends use it :) YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY WITH GAME COMPATIBILITY. These worked for me with Towerfall and NES.EMU but not for some other games.

http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/gamestick-controller/109153

Must have apps:

Plex
FilePwn
NES.EMU
SNES9X
FPSe
Towerfall
Toto Temple Delux
Clarc
Meltdown

As for hiccups, when pairing controllers, you need to be very careful. Whenever I am pairing controllers I need to do things in this order for best results.

1.) Power on Ouya with nothing paired
2.) Pair all OUYA brand controllers
3.) Pair all PS3 Controllers
4.) Pair all USB (Xbox 360 Controllers)

If you try to do things out of order, things get screwy.

Other than that, just know that a lot of us have screwed with the thing quite a bit and if you have any questions we can likely help you out.

Welcome to the club!

Try this, way sturdier, apple certified, and considerably cheaper.

It is slightly bigger though, if you have an otter box it may have issues fitting in the case (downside of it not being a flimsy piece of shit) I had to shave a little bit off of the edge so it would fit.

I think I've gone through one of the Ipod Classic cables ever. That was after years of use, and it was the plastic plug that cracked along the side. The cable was fine.

I haven't had a single modern cable last. Including the ones that sit at a desk, aren't carried around, just to plug in when I'm sitting at work or something.

Currently I've been using this and it's held up. I bought it in May, been carrying it with me and so far no signs of wear so we'll see.

But this is why I opposed the dongle. It adds one more point of failure to the cable and I know how cheap their manufacturing has become. Most proper USB cables will outlive all of us.

u/DaGeek247 · 7 pointsr/buildmeapc

Here's one, and it's not even overkill.

  • Raspberry Pi $35

  • USB 2.0 10-Port High Speed Hub with 12.5W Power Adapter $25

  • ASIC Ant Miner x 10 $650

You end up with 2gH/s per ASIC miner, and with ten ASIC miners that means 20gH/s for $710.

    According to this calculator, you end up with these results;

per Day 0.00033718 BTC or $0.15
per Week 0.00236029 BTC or $1.03
per Month 0.01026306 BTC or $4.49

It would pay for itself (assuming no electricity costs, and the difficulty doesn't change(it does, regularly)) in about 13 years.

    So let's say you bought 50 of these, they are pretty small after all. It costs you $35,500 just to get started, and your likely hash rate is 1tH/s. The profits might look like this;

    per Day 0.01685924 BTC $7.36
    per Week 0.11801465 BTC $51.52
    per Month 0.51315300 BTC $224.03

You still can't get a single bitcoin per day, or even month with this.

I got the replacement screen from this eBay listing. Didn't realize I bought the black screen until after I paid, but figured it'd be fine. I personally think it turned out pretty nicely.

If you're going to attempt a screen repair yourself, make sure to be extra careful in scraping off the adhesive holding the screen to the frame. At the top and bottom left corners of the phone are ribbon cables very close to the edges that can be easily torn by sliding prying tools in those areas.

Additionally, unless you have a proper heatgun or hairdryer with high heat output, you won't be able to separate the screen from the frame without rendering the adhesive useless for reapplication. You may have to buy LCD adhesive tape to make sure your screen sits snuggly after replacing. I used regular double-sided tape meant for papercrafts, and it's not tacky enough to keep the screen in place.

Apple USB C to Lightning cable plus a USB C power delivery charger like this one. Fast as safely possible.

Edit: and yes we agree that Apple should be providing something like this out of the box. Not a shitty white brick that trickles.

Hi u/yajdem, I’d be glad to help you choose a portable charger for your iPhone X!

The best option is PowerCore 10000 PD. It supports Power Delivery. You just need a USB-C to Lightning cable.

I would not recommend a capacity much larger than 10000 mAh for just your phone.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Also, you have to take care of your things people. You can't yank them through a tangled mess pulling on the middle of the cord. Unplug things by pulling the connector. Neatly store cables and don't crush the connection at the ends under weight. It's not that hard and it pays dividends.

I went 3rd party.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0177NSA9A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As for your initial point I agree 100%. It seems one of the Apple fan beliefs is "It just works" yet since owning an iPad I know things don't just work. For example, learning what a certified cable is was a pain in the ass. That cable wasn't the first one that I bought. An otherwise perfectly good cable doesn't work with the iPad simply because the product isn't paying a percent to Apple?

u/AGIANTSMURF · 3 pointsr/iphone

In the end it's gonna cost you more when the charger fries your electronics and you have to buy ones. I've seen it happen enough to not take chances. You can buy mfi certified cables for less than $20

Haha, gotta love them. Mine's the same. She has a 6s which has a pretty worn battery so that doesn't help.

Anker are good. Their new Powerline+ II are one of the best Lightning cables IMO:

This is the cable, not the charger. You can replace the cable for $6.50 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Apple-Certified-Lightning-Cable/dp/B010U3XO3Q. As others have said, you can avoid this in the future by pulling on the plug and not the cable.

Actually just finished a few minutes ago. Got the battery in the mail earlier this week but had company in town, so I just got around to the install.

I followed the iFixit guide, and things went pretty smoothly. I got the battery on Amazon.

I started by removing the strap and heated the back of the watch with a microwavable rice bag, but the adhesive was so strong that the back ended up cracking anyway, and the foil liner inside wasn't going to come out in one piece either, so I just said "screw it" and broke the back in half to get it off. Since I had one easily accessible, I used the leftmost of the spudgers here to get the watch separated from the case, and miraculously without any damage to the metal housing. I went about this by:

  • Using the pointed tip to carefully and patiently pry at the openings in this photo at 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock.
  • Once I had the o-ring groove available, I used the flat end of the spudger to gently pry the black shell out of the metal housing, working my way around the perimeter of the watch. I broke the o-ring in the process, but was careful not to damage the motherboard or sensors.
  • I would recommend holding the mic to your left and button to your right with the back of the watch facing up, which will put the LCD ribbon cables at 12 o'clock. The pictures on iFixit are a bit deceiving since they are upside down from the direction that you'd be working on the watch.

Once I got things separated, the hard part was over. I used the blue plastic tools that came with the battery to pry the motherboard out of the black shell. After disconnecting the battery connector (comes straight off the board), a simple pull of the pull tab on the battery and it came right out. Mine was puffed up with some kind of gas or air pocket.

I had some 2mm adhesive tape left after replacing the digitizer on my tablet, and this came in very handy attaching the new battery. Probably not entirely necessary, but I've got a huge roll of this stuff.

As for the o-ring, I used a #40 o-ring (3/4" o.d. x 5/8" i.d. x 1/16") and stretched the hell out of it to get it to fit in the old groove. This worked great because, being stretched that far, it ended up being thin enough to match the original one almost exactly. I applied a little silicone spray to my finger, wiped it around the o-ring, and carefully pushed the black shell back into in the metal housing, using the blue pry tools to guide the o-ring in where it looked like it might be getting caught.

All in all, took me about an hour start to finish, and went pretty smoothly. If you're comfortable with the idea of doing it yourself, I'd plan to replace the back cover as well unless you are really lucky getting yours off in one piece. Didn't take much to crack mine.
u/absentmindedjwc · 3 pointsr/technology

If you are just talking about the cables themselves, the biggest difference between cheap knock-off cables and MFi cables are typically in shielding. Cables with shit shielding can result in poor data transference at best, or overheating in the cable resulting in a fire at worst.

Using a non-MFi charging block is far more dangerous, however. Tear-downs of cheap knockoff charging blocks almost always result in obvious corner-cutting, increasing the risks of damaging your device and/or starting a fire.

Really though - this is the risk you run when you buy cheap Chinese cables regardless of which device it is for. A lot of the knock-off manufacturers put far more effort in making it look good than actual build quality.

Really, there is no excuse in not using an MFi cable, especially since you can get one from Amazon for $6.

If the funds are available, the best course of action is going to be a newer iPad.

Regarding a replacement:

I wouldn't go for anything older than an iPad Air. My dad recently smashed his iPad 2 and replaced it with an iPad Air (not iPad Air 2, the latest one) and has been perfectly happy.

You can get an iPad Air refubished from Apple for $340. You can get 6 month interest free financing with an Apple BarclayCard.

I used to work for Gazelle, an electronics reseller. They have some good prices on iPads on eBay, they have a good return policy if you're not happy, and if they still retain the same quality guidelines, their Very Good items are really just about good as new. Maybe one or two scratches that are hardly noticeable. Following are some links:

iPad Air 32GB LTE for $299

iPad Air 32GB for $299

iPad Air 16GB for $269

*Does not include cable (the cable for the Air is not the same as the iPad 2), but you can get one on Amazon for $7.

Any USB-C to Lightning cable that is MFi certified is equally good in performance and quality. Only differences will be exterior construction, color, and length.

Anker has two cables on discount today:

Anker PowerLine+ II USB-C to Lightning - $17.59

Xiaomi MiBox or (assuming money is no object) the Nvidia Shield(expensive, but you get what you pay for).

Out of the budget options, they seem to mostly be the same, just be sure to get at least 2GB of ram. The processors in these ones seem to almost all be either S905 or s905x with very little difference between the 2.

I just ordered a very cheap TX95 myself because I won't use it too much so didn't invest in a high quality device. Looks like good value, but could be a total pile of shite.

Also invest in a wireless minikeyboard for using it if you don't have one.

u/cool12y · 2 pointsr/rocksmith

I have a feeling No. 2 might work, but why don't you try what the Ubisoft Dev said on the post?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YFD2S26/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=theri07-20&linkId=2209744b1c6b38f6f4f7e5a5b1716c14

It basically makes your USB port into an Audio Output. I don't know how well this works, but if the Dev says it works it probably will. I don't know how many USB ports the Slim has, but if it only has 2 then you won't be able to use guitars at the same time (though a USB hub MIGHT work, provided it doesn't suck)

About No. 1: Okay, so this is a bit tricky. The game has always allowed it to work, but since the Dualshock 4 ALWAYS runs on bluetooth even if it was plugged in via USB, there would be lag. Quoting the FAQ,

The PS4 controller is wireless (Bluetooth), and only uses a USB micro cable for power, not data. Bluetooth is a little slower at delivering audio, and we saw and felt that in our tests. We could play it, but we wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other option, because the delay over Bluetooth is noticeable.

HOWEVER, the FAQ says that since the Xbox One controller switches to the USB when connected, hence not using Bluetooth, the lag decreases and can be used somewhat. Now, the latest Dualshock 4 (the one where the lightbar is on the touchpad as well) DOES have the ability to send Data over USB (you have to turn it on).

__

BASICALLY, what I'm trying to say is, in case you have the newer Dualshock 4, you can try plugging in the DS4 via USB (YOU HAVE TO TURN THIS OPTION ON, BTW) and then use the headphone jack to connect it to a headphone or a speaker. If that doesn't work, you can try buying the thing I listed above, but honestly it might give the same result since it's still using the USB port.

Also, No. 2 (if I'm not wrong) is the optimal way to go, and always has been, but the reason I wrote this wall of text is that (a) You said "buying" and I don't want you to buy 100$ worth of equipment :P and (b) in case you are beginner, you can actually live with a light amount of lag. It won't be optimal, but it won't be that big of an issue as compared to, like, your fingers hurting like hell after practicing for a few hours :P

All the best! :D

I'll add that I have 2 usb hubs. One is a tiny 4 port, and the other is a 10 port with external power (I didn't have to have the external power plugged in for it to work). I tried using both with my RMX, but the only one that works is the 10 in 1. I bet it has something to do with the chips inside of the hub itself, but don't quote me.

Here's the 10 port hub that does work:

I have this one. It's a Spigen Air Cushion case. Doesn't add a ton of bulk. Coworker didn't even realize that I had the case on at first. I still prefer it without the case. That, and this one covers the IR blaster, not that I was using it, but also covers up more than I would like of the USB port. Doesn't work well with Amazon Basics cables, i.e. I have to take them off to charge.

Make sure to keep access to USB port in mind.

u/insmek · 2 pointsr/htcone

The aluminum build doesn't stick to you hands the same way most plastic phones do. I always feel like I'm going to drop the phone when I have it out of the case.

With this Spigen case on it, it has just the right amount of "stickiness" and I never feel like it's going to take a tumble.

Hello, in e-shops like Amazon is said if cable is certified. Certified cables are little more expensive, so sellers usually notice that higher price is because it’s certified.

An example of great cable is here:

(Note: it’s USB-A to Lightning in the link, I will search some other)

I’m not certain that it will work with your schiit stack, but a lot of audio dacs can be used with a Camera connection kit like this. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-MD821AM-Lightning-Camera-Adapter/dp/B014VGHG0U/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1550410199&sr=8-16&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=lightning+to+usb

u/sloowhand · 2 pointsr/headphones

For a portable DAC/amp I essentially got for free, I'm loving that little thing. Just frustrating I now have to wait for a stupid lightning to camera adapter to come in the mail before I can use it as a DAC for my phone. Fuck you Apple and your stupid fucking proprietary connector.

u/Einsteins_coffee_mug · 2 pointsr/ipadmusic

I use the keystep and a novation launchkey 49 when I want more keys.

For either one you'll need to pick up the camera kit adapter but after that they are pretty much plug and play.

The keystep is great, it's got a lot of connectivity for USB/midi/CV so I can use it with my iPad or with my volcas.
It's also got the arpeggiator and sequencer which is nice.

The launchkey works well with the iPad, and the pads are an added plus if you use them for launching loops or playing drums.

I've used it and it works well besides if you want to move around with it a lot. Like, trying to do this with a portable dac/amp doesn't work very well because the USB-A connection isn't super solid and when it moves around you can hear it. If you bought it from a place that will exchange or refund for defective merchandise, you should consider testing its seals now by submerging it in a cup of water for 15-20 minutes. If it doesn't accumulate condensation, at least you have some baseline confidence in its seals. If not, swap it out.

If it's not defective to start, and you don't plan to submerge it a lot, I think you can expect several years of seal integrity. The adhesive will likely dry out and degrade over time, but pretty slowly. I know people have re-sealed their watches using products like this phone tape, but I don't know how reliable they are.

Anyway... my PTS is about two years old, and my wife's PT is older than that, and they both still seem water-resistant to splashes and short-term immersion. Since Pebble went out of business, I'm a lot more careful about water exposure. Also, both of us wear newer P2 models most of the time (my wife swims with hers), but we still wear our PTs some days.

u/FrogGranite · 2 pointsr/ipad

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 that I got in 2016 (model A1584). Yeah, It’s always been a slow charger, fortunately, it has good battery life (big battery). My experience is there are three keys to good charging speed: 1) Get a good brick. I like the ones from Anker, I have evaluated others. 2) Cables matter and go bad, fail in different ways. Use Apple or Apple certified. These are really good ones and hold up the longest (personal experience): Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cable (6ft), MFi Certified for Flawless Compatibility with iPhone X/8/8 Plus/7/7 Plus/6/6 Plus/5/5S and More(Red) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JR45HW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_vCZQDbFBMXMHX. 3) Keep the cable and device lightning connector contacts clean. It won’t matter how good the charger or cable is if there is too much crap/oxidation on these. I use a spray called “Deoxit” from Craig Labs, not cheap again, but it is safe and lasts a long time. Shop around. CAIG LABORATORIES D100S-2 CONTACT CLEANER, AEROSOL, 57G https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M9JN0PM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_1PZQDbY69C3CF. This is great for a variety of purposes.

Yes, you can get somewhat better charging performance by doing all of the above. If you have an in-line USB current/voltage/power meter (Geek here) you can prove it to yourself. These are also really useful for telling you when to throw out a bad cable or charger or to help figure out which isn’t working.

You can purchase the replacement screen and tools off of amazon for less than $14.00 and if you have prime it's of course free shipping.

It's interesting to read about the quality of glass you are getting from online vendors vs the ones they actually use through the manufactorers. Never thought of that.

Yes, removing the glue part is tedious. Microfiber cloth and patience help with this a lot.

And you can purchase the adhesive strips for $1.50 plus $2.00 in shipping from Amazon as well.

So you are looking at a little under $20.00 and an hour and change of your time and patience to complete the task yourself.

However, I agree with malthuss if you can do it for $80.00 through Samsung which to my understanding you can then go that route. BUT if they are for sure going to charge you the $178.61 then it might be worth trying the youtube route?

Still I would give Samsung a call again first. It's a standard repair fee of $80.00 I think it's odd that they would charge you the same as they charged me when all they have to do for yours is fix the screen not the screen AND the digitizer (which is the most expensive part of that repair).

Good luck!

This adapter allows you to plug the OP-1 into an iPhone or iPad.

You may want to search for iOS apps that support MIDI if you don't have any you like. I recommend AUM and whatever synth apps sound appealing to you.

Once you get your preferred MIDI routing/app setup all you have to do is record the output. If you record to the OP-1 tape then your input will always be mono. If you want to retain any stereo sounds or fx then you can route the audio to a multitrack recorder app with the AUM app.

Got this answer fromAnker :

Dear Peter Okorn,

Thanks for contacting Anker Customer Support.

Let me answer your questions in this way:

Currently, our chargers have 3x kind of charging technologies. One is Power IQ technology (with an icon ""IQ"" on the charger) which can work well with non-PD/QC-enabled devices like iPhone 5/6/7. One is Quick Charge technology (with an icon ""QC"" on the charger) which can support quick charge for QC-enabled devices like Samsung s6/s7. While the other one is Power Delivery technology (with an icon ""PD"" on the charger) which can support fast charge for PD-enabled devices like iPhone X or your Goold Pixel 2 XL.

Thus, in order to ensure that we will choose the proper charger for one device, we need to know what the charging technology it uses, then choose the charger which has the same technology. From my explanation above, ""IQ"" means Power IQ, so the IQ ports can work with your devices but can neither support quick charge for QC-enabled devices like your Tablet S3 nor PD-enabled devices like your Pixel 2 XL.

If you are looking for a fast wall charger for iPhone XS and Android phones, we are glad to recommend this one for you:

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07RLL59DW
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07JGKH6GR (C to lightning cable)

PowerIQ 3.0 provides full-speed charging with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge and USB-C Power Delivery for phones, tablets, laptops, and more.

What kind of phone do you have? You can get a USB adapter for the mic...

We have a few audio-technica USB mics already, and decided to record in the car on the way to a Union game. We were using an iPhone, so we bought this adapter, connected the phone to the mic, and recorded into the GarageBand app...

‘Twas brilliant

u/jamalstevens · 1 pointr/iphone

Hey all,

Haven't been in the apple ecosystem since the iPhone 5... I recently purchased an iPad and an Apple TV, and figured it was time to make the swap to an iPhone as well. Then I was like wth, let's get an apple watch too. I plan on pre-ordering the iPhone 11 (black) and the nike+ apple watch 5 (aluminum, silver) tomorrow. I want to get ahead of things and get some extra cables/chargers for my car (carplay) and bedroom/around the house.

I understand that the iphone can quick charge if you get the right cable and wall adapter. I was hoping for some recommendations for both of those things.

Here's what I've found so far:

Aukey PD 18W: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H6BQNGF/

Aukey USB C to Lightning: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RFMHZFF/

Anker USB C to Lightning: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H24PJGP/

I wasn't sure if those cables would actually work, as I had read on some blogs that the only good ones were from apple, but most of those reviews were a year or more old. Is that still the case?

I Also wanted to get a 2 - 7.5 W wireless charging pads? for in the front room/kitchen. Any recommendations on those? What sort of wall adapters would I need for those?

I saw this:

yootech qi charger - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079KZ49PJ/

But it didn't come with a wall adapter, so I was kind of confused as to what kind to buy to achieve the 7.5w charging as opposed to the 5w charging. I've also read that there may or may not be heat issues with wireless charging? Is that a founded argument?

Any favorite brands for cheaper cases for the phone? I like slim TPU cases and then putting my own screen protector on.

How about watch accessories? Are screen protectors a good idea for it? What about bumpers? I'll be using it for swimming alot so I didn't think that one of those bumpers that covers the screen would be a good idea. I'm not really sure how fragile the watch is, but I normally like to keep my devices decently protected without ruining their aesthetic.

Anyways, I realize that's a big ask, so any recommendations (with links! preferably on amazon) would be much appreciated!

A easier breakdown list:

Wall chargers that support PD and fast charge for iphone 11 (preferably 18W, I already have 2 - 12w chargers)
Cables for said wall charger
Wireless charging pad that supports 7.5w charging
TPU case and screen protector recs.
Apple watch screen protector and bumpers and any other helpful things!

Again, I appreciate any insight you can give me! Thanks for the help!

Anker makes some heavily reinforced Lightning cables, which are also cheaper than Apple's: https://smile.amazon.com/Anker-PowerLine-Lightning-Durable-Charging/dp/B0177NSA9A?sa-no-redirect=1

Might be worth trying out a few of these, since it looks like almost all charging stations will be the type that uses cables instead of having built-in dock connectors.

The best one I can think of is the nVidia shield TV box, it's expensive but it can use catch up services, you can use an external IPTV but you'll need an HD Homerun

It should also support DNLA if you use something like Kodi on it which can be downloaded directly. You can try and use Kodi to watch Freeview without the HD Homerun but I've found the experience to be less than stellar.

As for recording Freeview, it has a thing called shadowplay installed so you can use it to record stuff.

I don’t know how Anker one is even more expensive than Apple’s :(
It’s only 3 ft so shorter than 1 meter yet it is 26.99
https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Lightning-Certified-Powerline-Supports/dp/B07H24PJGP/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1S2H1W5O456KV&keywords=lightning+to+usb+c&qid=1557877600&s=gateway&sprefix=Lightning+to+usb%2Caps%2C191&sr=8-3

Apple’s one is 1 meter and yet 25 CDN
https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MQGJ2AM/A/usb-c-to-lightning-cable-1-m

I couldn’t even find something longer than 3ft from Anker’s one.
I know by my experience that Anker’s one is much more durable thnan Apple’s cable but it’s still hard to understand that Anker is selling shorter one for more than Apple.
(And yes I live in Canada)

I just got this Anker 60W PIQ 3.0&GaN Tech USB C Charger, PowerPort+ Atom III (2 Ports) Compact Type-C Charger (PIQ 2.0 USB-A Port), for USB-C Laptops, MacBook, iPad Pro, iPhone, Galaxy, Pixel and More

And

Anker USB C to Lightning Cable 3 ft Apple Mfi Certified Powerline+ II Nylon Braided Cable for iPhone X/XS/XR/XS Max/ 8/Plus, Supports Power Delivery

The cable was on sale at the time I got it but they do offer a cheaper model of this cable starting at $15.99. The combation has been fantastic and charges all my devices extremely fast. I was surprised how fast it charges my iPad Pro 10.5”. I find this one useful since I can charge my iPhone and Apple Watch together or any other pair of devices with ease and the charger itself is very small for what it offers.

Does your laptop have 5 USB ports? If you're using a USB hub you may want to make sure that you are using a hub that is externally powered as opposed to one that is not. Your HDDs might be trying to draw more power than your computer supplies to the hub.

Out of curiosity, what do you use 8+ HDDs for?

For IEM's, the Shure SE215 (~$99) and RHA MA750i (~$129) both sound fantastic at their respective price points. The SE 215's are warm and vocals sound pretty nice. The MA750i are slightly more bass heavy than the SE215's with the mids being a tad more recessed.

For closed backs, the ATH M50x (~$149) and the Shure SRH440 (~$99) are both great from what I've heard (I personally haven't listened to either unfortunately so YMMV).

Finally, for portable DAC/AMP's, the Dragonfly Red/Black (~ $100/200) and Fiio E10K (~$75) are solid options. The Chord Mojo is probably the best portable DAC out there for it's price, but its pretty expensive at ~$550.

To hook all this up to your iPhone 7, you probably need Apple's Lighting to USB camera adapter.

I have this on my desktop

Plugable USB 2.0 10-Port High Speed Hub with 12.5W Power Adapter and Two Flip-Up Ports, $23. It's great. Has 10 ports (!), two flip-up ports (which are very nice for flash drives/etc), and is compact. No trouble yet. Only downside is USB2.0 (which for most things is fine).

I also have an Anker Uspeed USB 3.0 4-Port Hub + 5V 2.1A Charge-Only Port, basically 4-port USB3 with a 5th dedicated high amps charge-only port. Very nice. I've some other things from Anker too, 100% great stuff so far.

u/vixez · 1 pointr/PleX

I want to move over from a nVidia Shield to something more powerful.

My budget for this is around 500 euros.
What would you recommend me to get? It needs to be able support 3 or more streams simultaneously (the Shield can handle 2 now).

The OS doesn't matter to me, as only Plex will be running on the device, nothing else.

I can assemble a PC myself, so just recommendations on CPU/GPU within the budget are fine as well.

I just want the complete build to fit around the 500 euro budget.

I have 2 Synology NAS, so the device doesnt need a whole lot of storage except for the OS and enough for Plex to be able to its thing.

It's also important that Im able to move the current Plex database from the Shield to the new OS (I already did a transfer once from a Rapsberry Pi to the Shield). I dont know if all Plex versions use the same database on all OS'es.

The Shield I own is this one:

I don't have a GTI but I do have a Jetta, and from what I've seen the interiors are pretty similar. I've been using CarPlay ever since I got the car and I love it. I hear what you said about not wanting to manage a cable, if it's about plugging a cable into your phone every time you drive I can't help (I actually like doing it because it charges my phone), but as far as managing cables I got one of these and it works great. I don't have to worry about a long cable, and it fits perfectly in the little book below my dash. Hope this helps!

u/liquid1ce · 1 pointr/jailbreak

Incase anyone is interested - I got it to work! I started off buying this: https://www.amazon.com/Apple-MK0W2AM-Lightning-Camera-Adapter/dp/B01F7KJDIM/ which allows you to charge the phone and power the USB to Ethernet Adapter. Unfortunately, this only seems to work with newer versions of iOS (it says "Device is not supported" when I plug it into my iOS 9.1 devices).

I had to buy this one: https://www.amazon.com/Lightning-to-USB-Camera-Adapter/dp/B014VGHG0U/

The Apple USB to Ethernet Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/Apple-USB-Ethernet-Adapter-MC704LL/dp/B00W7W9FK0

And also buy a powered USB hub (any one should I work, but this one is powered by microusb so I can plug it into a car charger): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0192LPK5M/

Lastly, I had to buy an Ethernet to Wi-Fi Adapter (I bought this one, again because it is USB powered - any one should work though): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UAKCS6/

So the extremely complicated solution is to have my iPhone 6S Jailbroken on iOS 9.1 connected over wireless CarPlay (uses Wi-Fi Direct) - so to get Internet data, I have the iPhone Lightning to USB Adapter connected to Anker USB Hub which is plugged into a car charger and the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter, then over Ethernet to the IOGear Wi-Fi Adapter. The IOGear Wi-Fi Adapter is configured to connect to my iPhone 6S Plus's HotSpot.

The bad thing with this is I cannot charge the Jailbroken 6S while I do this (I bought a lightning splitter to see if this will allow me to charge).

If I was on iOS 10.2 Jailbroken, I could use the newer Apple Lightning USB Adapter which can charge the phone too and get rid of the Anker USB hub. Maybe 10.3.2 will get jailbroken soon! :)

If Apple allowed Bluetooth Tethering like they do with iPads and iPod Touches, I could have simply tethered one iPhone to the other, but for whatever reason Apple doesn't allow that and there doesn't seem to be a tweak to fix this that I can find.

pentel's rsvp pens are my favorite and they come in a variety of colors. i find that the different colors help me retain information when note-taking/studying in general.

a phone charger for sure. amazonbasics has cables that work really well for the iphone! amazon has a six month warranty for their amazonbasics things (i think they still do?), so if your cable frays or breaks or whatever, you can just send amazon a message and they'll replace it for you. i think that's awesome since the worst part about having an iphone is how easy the charging cables can fall apart.

also, i think carrying around a mini stapler in your backpack is a great idea. they're handy and cute. bonus: you'll be class hero when a paper is due and everyone is scrambling for a stapler.

usb flash drives are nice and handy, but i'd recommend investing in a portable external harddrive as well. the 2tb ones run about $70-$90 and they're dooooope. you didn't say what you're studying, but i'm a student who works with digital media so i'm constantly transferring large files and an external drive has been of great use. i have this one.

I would get the Anker 18W charger or the 30W charger along with one of their USB-C to lightning cables (or even Apple's own cable)

You can use higher wattage chargers, but there's not a huge difference in charging times once you go over 29W.

Not to my knowledge, but you can just use something like this or this and attach one of these or these and use it like that.

> at least 8 USB terminals

This will probably drive you into the "high end luxury" area of motherboards (which actually isn't a problem because you want good sound.) Do you need full bandwidth on everything at once? I use this hub. Works great.

Honestly I'm not sure what cases have illuminated ports, neither the R4 or the TJ08 fulfill that. The hub I linked above is illuminated, though.

Drop the video card to a 760 ($150 savings,) upgrade to the ASUS GENE motherboard (touts above-average onboard sound and 10 USB ports.) If you're going to upgrade your monitor soonish, I'd probably spend the extra to jump back to the 770. FC3 is pretty demanding. For 1440x900, the 760 should be fine.

> photoshop illustration and tend to use very large DPI in my images

This is pretty vague and could be the difference between 8GB and 16GB (or even 32GB) of RAM.

And honestly I'd repost when you're ready to buy now because a lot changes in three months.

Anyway, today, I'd personally go with something like this. As an added bonus, its mATX.

(Keyboard and mouse to taste.)

FWIW, the main components are pretty close to my own system so I can vouch for not-a-piece-of-shit parts. I'm running that case, the IB version of that motherboard, a rebranded Seasonic PSU, a SS 840 SSD, a Gigabyte video card. If you want protection, but also looks and grip, I'd definitely take a look at a UAG case. They're a tad pricey but offer amazing protection, Look really great, and drastically improve grip/handling

-Cutout for IR blaster

-Good button clickeyness (tactile response)

-Includes a decent screen protector

-Comes in 5 color variants (navy blue, white, black, orange, and clear)

-Has a flat back, so it feels and looks thicker than most cases would, but it won't rock on a flat surface

9.5/10 for protection

9/10 for functionality (button response, port access...)

As a switcher, I found it difficult to find a cable or adapter that works consistently. Many are not MFi certified, many are real cheap quality, most only due charging and not data, and others like the "micro-USB and Lightning on each side" cable get loose or don't keep a solid connection. I've determined that a micro-USB-to-USB-C and micro-USB-to-Lightning are the only official converters that can be trusted.

So, since my wife uses CarPlay and I now use Android Auto, this is the only cable that works properly and consistently:
