Magnesium, my friend. Some studies have shown that 80% of Americans are deficient in it, and as you are exercising too you are probably deficient, it's used by your body in up to 300 different functions and is so key to good heath.

I'm currently using this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Better-Magnesium-Original-Spray-100ml/dp/B002VPDX4W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382386620&sr=8-1&keywords=better+you+magnesium+oil which is transdermal (meaning it is sprayed on and absorbed through your skin) I do 10 sprays in the morning and 10 and night to ensure that I get over 100% of my RDA. Look into magnesium more to really see how important it is :)

Magnesium supplements work for both sleep quality and soreness. I don't know if it helps me sleep but it definitely helps with DOMS. Just be careful which one you get because they can make you really sick. I use these from Amazon.

Checkout this listing of various types: http://fixyourgut.com/magnesium-most-overlooked-mineral-for-improving-health-2/

  • magnesium oxide (worst) -> Not very bioavailable, laxitive
  • magnesium citrate (ok) -> Good bioavailablity, laxitive
  • magnesium glycinate (better) -> Good bioavailablity, not laxitive
  • magnesium taurate (best IMHO) -> Good bioavailablity, not laxitive, best at deilvary to cardiac tissue, also supplies a large does of taurine

Its worth pointing out low Magnesium doesn't usually show up on a blood (serum) test as the cells in your body will buffer your blood Magnesium (unless you are deathly deficient). The only way to really know is a oral magnesium tolerance test where the patient is given (usually IV magnesium) until they start expressing normal amounts of it in their urine.

Rather than try to find someone who is willing and able to give the test, I would recommend just taking magnesium. Make sure you take a decent kind magnesium oxide is worthless, magnesium citrate is OK, ideally you should take a chelated magnesium.

The chelates are more bioavaialbe and not laxative. The type of chelate influences where it ends up in greater concentrations in the body.

I take Magnesium Taurate for my cardio tissue once a day [1], and Magnesium Glycinate once a day to target my skeletal muscle [2].

Thanks. I buy pretty much everything off of Amazon, for the potassium and magnesium in capsule form I like Now Foods brand:

Potassium Citrate

Magnesium Citrate

I broke the fast last night, just wasn't feeling right and decided it was better to end it than to push on. They say your body will tell you when you need to end it and I was having that feeling, but no regrets and I feel good about it.

u/starstough · 5 pointsr/Hypothyroidism

My constipation resolved when I got on Nature Throid which is desiccated thyroid and has T3 and T4. If you are on a highish dose of synthetic T4 like Synthroid or generic levothyroxine, you may remain constipated if your body sucks at converting T4 to T3.

So if it gets too bad, definitely try magnesium.

For relief TODAY, if you can sit around at home this weekend, take 2 caps of Miralax and mix it in some juice until it is fully dissolved and drink up. It doesn't taste like anything and is fine to use this way. You can even take a cap full every 2 hours and you'll be shitting water by the end of the day. That's how we always cleaned out my son when he had to have colonoscopies regularly. (he's fine now).

healthy diet, social interaction/activity, if cleared medically, fast walking 30minutes a day, minimum 4 days a week as tolerated....

good multivitamin
curcumin longvida, specifically (curcubrain)
perhaps wild blueberries every day

fasting can indeed help......ie eating twice a day, 12hrs between the two meals, no later than 2 hours before bedtime (3 is better).

for fasting, that means no snacking between....basically zero calories....for maximum effect.

if one must have a 'snack' between the two, consider food snacks that have minimal insulin release (remember, protein actually releases insulin)....

ideas: best choice, 1-2 handfuls pecans (low protein, higher healthy fat, almost no insulin release) and/or low-sodium black olives (like 12-15 whole black olives....remember, low sodium) and/or 1/2 plain avocado

added:
there is one more thing you could consider as an experiment, esp. considering this situation.
3 caps, twice a day, source naturals magtein, for 90 days, and assess effect...if works, continue.
i bought mine sold by amazon (be careful of resellers):

https://www.amazon.com/Magtein-Source-Naturals-Inc-Caps/dp/B00AXTO30G/

for about $32

but if purchased frm amazon, i would only get the one sold by amazon and not a reseller....

I was thinking of a post like this!

The top of my fridge is covered in supplement bottles. I hate to admit it, but I have become the kind of person who reads a single vague "This possibly helped my anxiety" testimony on a forum and immediately orders the supplement in question because what if this is the thing that helps?

I currently take these:

Omega-3 (is supposed to help with inflammation, some people think that anxiety is connected to inflammation in the brain)

NAG (N-Acetyl Glucosamine, is supposed to help with inflammation)

B-complex (some people think the B vitamins might help calm anxiety)

one or two types of probiotics (possible connection between our microbiome and our stress/mood levels.)

Of these, I think it's possible that probiotics are doing... something. I'm not sure yet, I only pretty recently started them. But I think probiotics are in the "probably can't hurt, might help" category, so I'll continue for a while.

I don't see the Omega-3s doing much, if anything, but could probably use them in my diet, so will continue for a while. I don't think the NAG and the B-complex are doing anything, so I'll probably stop taking those when I use them up.

At other times I've taken:

magnesium (I think this does help a bit. I use a spray form though, not a pill. https://www.amazon.com/Magnesium-Spray-100-Pure-Dead/dp/B00N48BNGK/ref=lp_10222013011_1_1_a_it?srs=10222013011&ie=UTF8&qid=1500943510&sr=8-1&th=1 It isn't really "oil", it's a magnesium solution so saturated it feels oily. It's hard to describe. I've lazily stopped using this regularly, but previously I just sprayed it on a couple of areas before bed. It does have a temporary relaxing effect, sometimes quite strong. It didn't seem to have a permanent or semi-permanent effect though, it wasn't like the relaxation persisted to the next day or anything like that.)

Vitamin D (did nothing that I could tell)

*daily multi-vitamin (did nothing)

At this point, I wonder if supplements are likely to help really only if your mood problems are partially caused by a deficiency? I'm not sure mine are, so I am probably chasing wisps of smoke, but frankly... I would rather chase wisps of smoke and give myself some sense of agency, if that makes sense.

I try to stick to these dosages.

5000 mg of sodium (salt)
1000 mg of potassium, in the form of potassium chloride
or potassium sulfate
300 mg of magnesium

Taken from the r/keto FAQ section.

These are my sources:

For sodium, I take: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GCN130/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm going to add something on cellulite prevention.

Most people are deficient in magnesium. Magnesium is important for good quality skin, yet most oral supplements are 1) poorly (1-50%) absorbed, and 2) cause horrific diarrhea.

The answer is magnesium oil, (refills) which you rub into the skin after a shower. Yes, it can sting like a bitch. That just means you are heavily deficient, and should subside after a week.

Anecdote: As a teen, I developed a mystery skin condition on my lower back. Skin specialists were mystified, and steroid creams, exfoliation and strict diet did nothing.
For 8 years, I had this flame looking tramp stamp, with a dry, textured surface.

3 days after rubbing magnesium oil into it, it was gone. Now the skin is smooth as a baby's butt.

Epsom salts, which are magnesium sulfate and chloride, are a centuries-old treatment for joint problems and muscles soreness, and magnesium salts are administered for heart attacks, during low birthweight births.

Can I say it works for me? Absolutely.

I also strongly recommend dry brushing before a shower with a sisal brush. The first time you do this, you will be grossed the fuck out by the amount of dead skin that flies off. It's almost as bad as after removing a plaster cast.
Stimulating the skin in this way supposedly has some voodoo circulation and lymphatic benefits, which I don't buy into, but I have noticed the skin is more supple and firm.
This will make the magnesium oil after the shower sting even more, but I think it helps with absorption.

Finally, there's the old method of losing weight, which I doubt needs to be covered.

u/HellzenFroscape · 3 pointsr/keto

I have the exact same problem with sleep. I fall asleep easily but wake up in the middle of the night wide awake. This is an entirely new phenomenon for me and it started when I went on keto...If you find something that works for you please for the love of god let us know.

My experience: I admittedly haven't been on top of my electrolyte game from the start. Aside from lots of sodium and a multivitamin I've largely ignored supplementing potassium and magnesium which it turns out may be somewhat of a requirement. I've started using Lite Salt on everything for potassium, and I've read that magnesium can help with this particular problem. I started last night and slept until 6am. That's definitely an improvement but I was also completely exhausted so that might be why. We'll see.

u/UnlikeSpace3858 · 3 pointsr/keto

You need a lot of water and electrolytes. Best to mix up your own keto electrolyte drink daily to be sure you're getting some salts.

This bottle is great for tossing in your electrolytes, since the top screws off. Natural Calm Powder is a popular magnesium citrate supplement for mixing up ketoade, just add a teaspoon of it, along with 1/4 or 1/2tsp Lite Salt and 1/4tsp regular salt, Tbsp lemon juice, liquid stevia or your choice of sweetener. Makes an electrolyte lemonade much more potent than any store bought "electrolyte drink" and cheaper per serving compared.

u/PretendScreen · 3 pointsr/fasting

Magnesium and a multi-vitamin are also a good idea if you go past 7 days. You look great keep it up :)

u/Carb_killa · 2 pointsr/keto

Muscle cramps tend to be a magnesium deficiency. Take some magnesium citrate.

u/phatcracker · 2 pointsr/kratom

Supplement with magnesium citrate, I use Natural Calm. It does wonders for muscle tension and is a potentiator.

u/-homunculi- · 2 pointsr/StackAdvice

I would recommend taking the individual substances instead for a couple reasons.

  1. Zinc and magnesium compete with each other for absorption, so they should ideally be taken at least three hours apart.
  2. The components of a ZMA are usually not the most bioavailable(I foolishly purchased a ZMA that had Magnesium Asparte and Zinc Asparte. Both are decently absorbed, but they also separate into Aspartic acid which is not good to constantly have in your system like you would with a ZMA).
  3. It's a hell of a lot cheaper.

All I do now is take 600mcg of melatonin and 200mg of this magenisum

Also use this website for future rolls!
u/kittengrey · 2 pointsr/xxketo

I used the following before and during my keto flu experience. I found nothing helped during shark week and I didn't lose. I weighed 2 days later and I went down 2 lbs. My suggestion is do not weigh in that time frame and keep your electrolytes up as best as possible. I do also take a potassium supplement. Make sure you take enough to warrant a full days dose: (1) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AMUWLK/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1453929417&sr=1&keywords=Mineral+drops (2) http://www.amazon.com/Magnesium-100%25-Pure-Natural-Minerals/dp/B00N48BNGK/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1453929446&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=magnesium+dead+sea+oil&psc=1

Additionally, I did not have horrible cramps as it was my first 'weekly experience' while on KETO.

u/andrew_kirfman · 2 pointsr/Supplements

This is the one that I'm taking right now: https://www.amazon.com/Metagenics-Mag-Glycinate-240-Count/dp/B004GLGXVO/ref=sr_1_14_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482431873&sr=1-14&keywords=magnesium+glycinate

It's expensive, but it's extremely high quality. Be warned though, the pills are only 100 mg each which means that you'll need 4 of them a day. At least it's nice for splitting up doses.

The one I used to take is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Viva-Labs-Magnesium-Bisglycinate-Chelate/dp/B00HQP51ZG/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482431977&sr=1-1&keywords=magnesium+glycinate+viva+labs

Much easier to get down, and much cheaper. I don't know too much about the purity, but I trust the Viva Labs brand enough.

As far as vitamin D goes, garden of life makes some of the best supplements out there. They use plant based sources for everything, so it's all incredibly absorbable (i.e. all of the natural enzymes that your body could use to process the vitamin are included in the pill). They're more expensive, but like the metagenics ones, incredibly high quality. https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Raw-Supplement-Vegetarian/dp/B005JAT318/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482432076&sr=1-4&keywords=vitamin%2BD%2Bgarden%2Bof%2Blife&th=1

If money is a concern, however, either now foods or viva labs make a much cheaper D3 that should work fine.

Haha! It's "Braundo" and most definitely!

In case no one posted the links yet, this is what I ended up with for my electrolyte drink. Into a glass of water I pour in NuSalt, grind in some pink Hymalayan sea salt, and down it with a 250mg Magnesium pill. I do this first thing every morning, and combined with diet I get all of my electrolytes.

I can't speak on these particular prescriptions, but I have used all 3 supplements. The coenzyme Q10 didn't do much for me, so I don't take it any longer. I do still use the B2 and Magnesium. I actually use a product called Preventa Migraine, which has magnesium, B2, Butterbur and Feverfew. Many people have had a lot of success with these supplements. For me, I have found the severity of the average migraine to be reduced, but they are no less frequent (still chronic).

Supplements are an often discussed topic in this sub. I'm sure you can't find a ton of discussion on these. Good luck!

Edit: apparently there is another product called Migravent with contains Coenzyme Q10, magnesium, B2 and Butterbur.

Edit 2: 10 days later, just prescribed 120mg daily of verapamil. I guess we will find out together!

u/GrassSloth · 2 pointsr/migraine

I take magnesium pills and Preventa Migraine on the daily. I highly recommend both.

I recently began taking Imitrex on the onset of a migraine. The first time I took it I got horrible side effects with my whole torso and face feeling really tight but I haven't experienced much the following few times. The last time I took it, which was a few days ago, it was awesome. Really took the migraine away.

And if all else fails, I use medical cannabis. Takes the edge off of most negative feelings, honestly. Lol

u/oolicky · 2 pointsr/keto

I use Lite Salt to ensure I get enough sodium and potassium (I add it to my water several times a day). Eating pickles helps with sodium intake, too. If you go the Lite Salt route, do not overdo it in a single sitting (a serving size is 1/4 TSP). You will hug the toilet if your body hasn't adjusted.

For magnesium, I use this supplement, one right before bed. The serving size is technically two pills, but I get enough magnesium from food, so just one pill is fine for me.

I'll continue following this routine forever, probably. It works for me and it makes me feel great.

Spray mechanism broke pretty quickly on both of my bottles. I poured some into my hand and spread on most of my front torso. It is kinda sticky, and you will need to wait like 10 minutes for it to dry. I would apply it, wait, put on a tshirt and go to sleep. You either need to shower after or put on a piece of clothing that you will wash soon because it does get on other things. Hope it works for you!

u/iDrinan · 2 pointsr/afinil

Although a bit on the pricier side, I use Pure Encapsulations Magnesium glycinate, but any reputable brand and bioavailable form will do (glycinate is considered the most bioavailable, but more expensive due to the chelation process.)

Unless you are predisposed to liver or kidney issues, I wouldn't worry unless along with the above you're taking a massive stack of supplements. In which case, you'd want to analyze that first.

With that said, cranberry extracts are great for kidney function in general.

I tried the following for my sleep:

  • Magnesium

  • Magnesium L Threonate Capsules

I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed. You can look into that and try it out. I sleep late like 11:55 pm and wake up around 6 am. Refreshed. Also my quality of sleep has improved by like 30%. Earlier I used to have difficulty sleeping even after doing exercise and not taking any caffeine after 10:00 am.

u/ColeyColeyColey954 · 2 pointsr/fasting

Heck yeah! I got this one below just cuz it had great reviews but there are TONS out there on amazon/Etsy/at your local craft fairs. Topical magnesium (best delivered in lotion so the oils can help it sting less) is known to get great for chronic pain also - when rubbed into the affected area.

When I get cramps I get them on my back/belly or legs so once a day I rub the magnesium lotion in one those places. Once it’s absorbed the magnesium goes system wide, but it has really helped elevate cramping for me (I’m on Day 6 of 30+ days).

I use it daily. It leaves your skin feeling ‘salty’ so the bottle says to shower or wash skin 30 mins after application. The salty feeling doesn’t bother me so I just put it on whenever I remember.

What type of magnesium are you taking? Regular magnesium you buy in the store won't do shit.

You need to take Magnesium Glycinate (chelated magnesium) Here's some information about magnesium glycinate and mdma + some other supplementation info!

u/notorious_BIGfoot · 2 pointsr/TMJ
u/fibroMight · 2 pointsr/Nootropics

I have fibromyalgia and been trying both.

  • First Agmatine for a month at around 750mg-1g / day.
    ---> no improvement
  • After Memantine at gradually (very recommended) 5mg then 10mg for 3 months then now 20mg for a couple weeks (it seems to be the dosage for fibro).
---> so far I can't say that it has helped at all. At least not noticeable on pain.

I'm now throwing in some Agmatine as well every couple days. You might want to try adding:
  • Magnesium L-threonate 2g daily (called Magtein also). I use this one "Magtein Source Naturals, Inc. 180 Caps (667 MG)" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AXTO30G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6JVyxbT25E7FT. 3 capsules a day 2 morning 1 night)
  • Vitamin B2 400mg daily (especially if you get migraines too).
  • Also L-dopa (Dopa Mucuna), nalt or equivalent seems to help a bit with the fatigue.

Honestly for pain I haven't found anything that really works. Been on Lyrica at every possible dosage (now back to 2x 150mg daily, was taking up till 600mg at some point but made me too sleepy) for years. Not even sure if it helps anymore.

To me SSRI & SNRI were totally garbage but had to go through that crap to be approved for Botox shots to stabilize my migraines (this definitely helps but is more specific for migraines).

The one thing that helped even more than opiates for the pain and overall condition was Adderall XR (tremendous help with the fatigues).

Also currently reducing my opiate intake and was prescribed Clonidine patches which seem to help a bit with the general condition (I have constant panic attacks) and not just to cover withdrawals.

Good luck! Don't hesitate to message me for advice. I've been trying everything possible for the past years and my only conclusion is that doctors don't know wtf to do with it/me.

Ps: my main advice would be for you to find a stellar doctor /pain management specialist that will listen to you and not dismiss your pain. Unfortunately there aren't much out there. Most doctors just want to pass you around since it's too complex for them and they don't want to spend the time to figure different solutions. A good insurance helps to...

Vitamin B12 Deficiency

>Tinnitus may be associated with vitamin B12 deficiency.

On that note, supplements I say are a MUST for using stimulants:

u/bluMidge · 2 pointsr/StackAdvice

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18557129/

Over the last several decades, our soil has been depleted of minerals and magnesium is the one listed the most.
Reading about magnesium, around 75% of humans are deficient of magnesium because there is simply not enough in our diets no matter what we eat.

That being said, Adderall and many many psychiatric drugs including high blood pressure meds deplete your body of valuable minerals... Again with magnesium being the one that is most prevalent.

Now you must keep in mind and you will have to research this on your own but there needs to be a balance of potassium, magnesium, sodium, and other minerals in our bodies for it to operate at full capacity.
Magnesium alone is responsible for over 300 co-factors of enzymes in our bodies.

https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Magnesium-HealthProfessional/

I am ADHD-PI and have been prescribed Adderall for approximately seven years now and this is from three different psychiatrist. I take one 30mg XR per day.

If you are truly ADHD/ADD there are several kinds of doctor prescribed medications that typically work well for ADULT ADHD, to focus and engage in lectures and staying in conversations without being distracted just to give you a small sample size of what amphetamines are capable of helping those with ADHD.
THEY HOWEVER DO NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE WE KNOW OUR BODY CHEMISTRIES ARE ALL DIFFERENT.

I truly believe without magnesium, fish oil, zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin C taken before bed each night to help empty your system of amphetamines... Adderall would not work after all the years I've taken it.
And to fully disclose, there are other supplements I take as well.

Adderall and Vyvanse do their jobs well for a large majority.

I tend to switch up the brands of magnesium I personally take AND I dose throughout the day and typically take 600-800mg each day...

And, the two I have bought most recently and are working very well for me and are extremely well absorbed in capsule form are the following two:

Excellent post.

At times, I do feel a bit depleted when taking adderall XR continuously. The only breaks I give the self are on Fridays and Saturdays. Sometimes, not even once! Only 2 or 3 per month.

I felt that Vitamin D was lacking, that helped a bit. It did not give me some narcoleptic feeling especially int he mornings. I then added Vitamin B, which seemed to fix the issue for long days. However, I did not suspect it to be magnesium.

When I take magnesium consecutively, the next days would feel quite different. 50% of the time, I will be tired, and 50% of the time (added with fish oil) I would feel high in libido.

I believe I get less brain fog when magnesium is in the system. H

Extremely helpful post.

I. What type of magnesium would you suggest I take first?

I have only been taking magnesium from nature made, as well as magnesium glycenate

II. What made you not take Vyvanse? Lately, I have been feeling a high push and then, it crashes down 40-60% of the time. I might not have been taking better sleep and brain fog usually happens if it is less than 6 hours (but funny enough, no brain fog if 4 hours and might be the bad cycles I wake up from). This time, with your suggestion, (and after 2-3 hours since breakfast) I have taken vitamin c, and magnesium. I feel quite better. I tend to just eat various foods before sleep, but I believe this might all be solved if I switched to Vyvanse, since I read that it does not really give you a push and this might mean no hard crashes or brain fogs. But I also heard it is less effective

u/SupriseGinger · 1 pointr/flexibility

Cramps for me have always been a result of a nutrient deficiency. Specifically magnesium and potassium. If you up your intake of those it should only take a couple of days to notice the difference.

I personally buy this for supplementing magnesium. If you buy a magnesium supplement from your local grocery check the label. A lot of cheap magnesium supplements are in the form of magnesium oxide which has low bioavalability. There are several different kinds so if you are curious I would suggest doing some research on your own.

I also supplement potassium, but I won't link what I use because incorrect supplementation of potassium can damage your liver. It is still pretty easy to up your potassium by eating the right foods. Spinach has one of the highest levels of potassium per calorie of any food. Apricots have one of the highest per calorie levels for fruits (yes, higher than bananas).

Roger that, I'm familiar with GABA and its role in inhibitory neurological processes, but must have missed the day in my web-based drug and psychopharm classes where I learned magnesium plays a role. I've been taking magnesium citrate https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V5KT5GO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for at least a year.

Recently realized that you're only supposed to take it once a day and I think I was taking it twice with meals, roughly for the last few months.

I forget why I went with citrate, but there was a reason, and I had read / been told that magnesium oxide from your local pharmacy supplement section was horrible in terms of bioavailability and absorption.

If you have more to share regarding the best / most beneficial 'kinds' of magnesium that can be taken I'd love to hear, otherwise I'll do more reading before I order my next refill.

Thanks for your info / time!~

I've just started on these. They are expensive, tho. Not sure if it's worth it

Why not just regular milk for what? I do drink a bit of whole milk with my cereal.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BD0RT0/ I take 3 of these a day, but I also take Magnesium L Threonate for its potential to improve memory/cognitive performance/magnesium in the brain. It's kind of expensive though: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AXTO30G/

I've been taking chelated from link below 2x daily, doesn't seem to help in this department. Should I try a different form of magnesium doc? If so what would you recommend?

Oh, cool; thanks for the info. Yeah, I really wish my chemistry / biochem was better.

The problem I had with the off-the-shelf stuff here in Japanese drugstores (which I now understand to be in the lesser, citrate, form) was the calcium it was mixed with giving me heart palpitations. So probably best to avoid calcium+mg supplements in the store completely (unless one is actually calcium deficient), since they were in Mg-Citrate form.

Anyway, the link above is the chelated form (glycinate/lycinate) on Amazon.jp ; but there's also another chelated type on there, Magnesium L-Threonate, which I've just started taking: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B006P536E6/

Been doing keto on and off for years, and have struggled with horrible leg cramps the whole time. Not just legs. Anywhere on my body, really. I've even had a cramp in my jaw muscle while yawning. I really, really feel for you and want to help you. The cramps I have are so incredibly painful and can last for upwards of 10-20 minutes at worst. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

As everyone else has said, electrolyte supplementation is essential, but I wanted to add a few things that help me tremendously, and will maybe help you too.

A) I've been supplementing potassium and magnesium since I first tried keto back in 2015. It always helped with the cramps, but never completely eliminated them. That is, not until I realized that I need to be taking WAY more. To make a long story short, I now know that I need to take two of these: https://www.amazon.com/SaltStick-Vitassium-Buffered-Electrolyte-Capsules/dp/B01MQWGTUO?keywords=sodium+potassium+salt+sticks&qid=1540599558&sr=8-6&ref=sr_1_6

Six (yup, six) of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Nutricost-Potassium-Citrate-99mg-Capsules/dp/B01JN8WWQ4/ref=sr_1_5_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1540599509&sr=1-5&keywords=potassium%2Bcitrate&th=1

And two of these: https://www.amazon.com/Life-Extension-Neuro-Mag-Magnesium-L-Threonate/dp/B006P536E6?crid=30ZS88BKWPCQ4&keywords=magnesium+lthreonate&qid=1540600041&sprefix=magnesium+l+%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-6&ref=sr_1_6

Daily. Half in the morning and half about an hour before bed.

B) Potassium seems to be the most crucial element in the prevention of leg cramps -- at least for me. However, you can't absorb potassium efficiently without sodium. That's why I take the saltsticks above and liberally salt all of my food.

c) Given all the sodium intake, and the fact that keto has a diuretic effect to begin with, you have to drink obscene amounts of water to stay hydrated.

For me, if I fall behind in any of the above criteria, the cramps come back. But as long as I take enough (read: a lot) of electrolytes, make sure to have plenty of sodium on board for them to absorb, and drink water pretty much constantly, I don't get cramps.

Ask your doctor about a magnesium supplement as well, if you haven't already tried it. Something like this one.

u/probably_high_guy · 1 pointr/Stims

Hehe yeah, sounds nice :) If you're in good physical shape and young you don't need more than the basic supplements imo.

Lots of people take double your vitamin d dose, you should probably get some stronger pills. 2000-4000 IU is the usual dose, some people take even more than that, but you can't exactly know how much you need unless you get tested. I would recommend 4000 IU for you.

The thing with supplements is that it's really worth getting some higher quality stuff, because with the cheap ones they try to cut every corner and they don't care if the product works properly or not. If you are from USA you can get some very high quality Solgar supplements from amazon for like a third of the price they cost here.

I would suggest you to get these:

https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Triple-Strength-Omega-3-Supplement/dp/B000NI6WHY/

https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Female-Multiple-Tablets-Count/dp/B00028Q6G2/

https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Magnesium-Citrate-supports-function/dp/B00HUCN0DU/

https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Vitamin-Cholecalciferol-Vegetable-Capsules/dp/B0019KAS66/

Not working for Solgar btw lol, they just are really good and i recommend them when someone asks for high quality stuff.

Edit: Oops forgot about the B-12, i don't think it's necessary but it also wont do any harm if you want to try it out.

Hi there Mr. Wiz! Any ROA will give you the “symptoms” after it’s built up enough in your system during your session. Last night I did more lines than I usually do. If my tweaker ass can remember to use my little fan, I don’t get that hot. Face is still oily after a certain point.

No clue, but I think the deal with smoking (at least for me), is I will just sit there and smoke and smoke and smoke and smoke. That’s where people get stuck with smoking. Plus it makes my high really raw and aggressive. Lines all day!!!

So yeah. Smoking will give you symptoms much faster because it is absorbed into your system much faster. It takes a 10+ hours for me to get to that spot with lines.

Best thing in the entire world for oily face is Dude Face Wipes - I’m super happy with mine. They have moisturizer in them and all the other crap. They smell amazing and are very handy in the summer in general. I would strongly encourage you to get them!!

Odor: Magnesium (specifically Citrate) and either Zinc or B vitamins. Magnesium will also give you the lovely benefit of substantially increasing the euphoria if you take the supplement every day. Below is what I order.

Amazon links: Magnesium Citrate $9.00 and/or Vitamin B Complex $7.49 and/or Zinc

Note: When Magnesium and Zinc are used together, it is supposed to increase the effect. And we should all be taking Vitamin B.

Hope all this helps!

u/ovrdrv3 · 1 pointr/GetMotivated

Yeah I got a powder form reccomended for Keto dieters so I don’t know if it has a more powerful effect than whatever you are taking. But with over 2 teaspoons of that (~ 300mg) it gets bad. But without the pain that having digestion cramps or stomach flu brings.

u/dbkate · 1 pointr/keto

The salt helps the most, but you need the others. You need 5,000 mg of sodium a day, measured out. Salting food doesn't come anywhere near that. The bouillon cubes are purely for the sodium, not the other nutrients. One cube/packet usually has around 2,500 mgs, thus two a day -- bone broth is not salted enough.

You can get magnesuim glycinate here on Amazon FR.

u/jmor88 · 1 pointr/Supplements

this. you want magnesium in forms of: Glycinate and Bisglycinate, Malate, Gluconate, Lysinate.

i only supplement magnesium in the form of calm powder https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Calm-Orange-Ounce/dp/B0012619B0
(plus a daily multi vitamin).

I eat plenty of spinach, avocado (or guac in the winter), Brussels sprouts, broccoli, etc which covers the need for potassium supplement.

Sodium is easy to come by, just salt your food/broth.

powerade zero also helps, although it has very low daily values.

I would likely go with a product like this bc it's orange flavored. There are others, but I've heard the flavors can be iffy. You could buy empty capsules and put this in them. It's also available in pill form. Second link is pills.
