It's funny because practice sheets exist

u/mmtb1120 · 54 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Hello all, in a previous post made yesterday, I had replied with a picture of a drawer of my Alex 9 unit and received a few of inquiries about how I made my drawer organizers. So, I decided to try my best to tell you how I did it. I apologize I wasn't able to make a complete step by step with a ton of photos, but this process was done over a year ago, and I wasn't really planning on doing it again since I finished!

Materials Needed:

Ruler

X-acto Knife

-I would recommend some extra blades as well-

--Foam Board (the more the merrier)--

Flathead Pins

--Contact Paper--

-The blades become dull fairly quickly, I think I used about four during the process-

--I was able to get a piece for $.99 at Michael’s on sale

---I decided to wrap each piece with contact paper because it makes it very easy to clean. In my actual vanity, I used fabric and it has gotten dirty and damaged and I 100% don't recommend it--

Template Materials:

Copy Paper or Grid Paper

Ruler

Actual makeup products

Steps:

  1. I first made templates for each drawer. I found using grid paper to design the setup made it very easy, each block was marked as an inch. Using the actual product dimensions I was easily able to map out what could possibly go in each location. It’s nice to know that the height of a standard sheet of copy paper is the width of the drawers! Also, to note, I made sure to give a little space on each side of the product to give it some wiggle room. (The dimension of each drawer is 11.5"x20.5")

  2. I then used normal copy paper to make a full-size map of each drawer. Then using that I transferred it onto the foam board. Measure twice and cut once.

  3. Using a straight edge, I was able to make cuts of each segment. It's easiest to first cut the width of the product and then afterwards cut the height of each compartment making sure they all have a uniform width and height.

  4. After each piece has been cut, I went ahead and wrapped every piece with white contact paper. Contact paper has a sticky back that easily allows it to adhere. Also, the back has its own grid so it was easy!

  5. Once each piece was ready to go ahead and assemble, I made a new template. This one was to make a uniform depth of each compartment (my smaller compacts all had about 3/4 of an inch between each and larger had about 1 inch) A B. This also made it very easy to ensure I had a perfect right angle.

  6. I decided to use flathead pins to connect everything together. I've seen previous YouTube tutorials that used hot glue, but that can be messy and difficult to work with. Also, if you ever need to redo something, you don't destroy what you had done. I used two pins on each side which really anchors the part. I will note, the tips of my index fingers went numb from doing this so much, but the feeling came back…eventually

  7. Enjoy!

    Some other things to note:

In my palette drawer, I created L shaped panels to allow for the palette to be better seen

I also purchased from byAlegory a liquid lipstick and lipstick organizers to build around

In my lipstick drawer, I purchased little glass beads to allow for the products to stand up better

My paper towel drawer has a holder which I created using a wooden dowel and clay

Also, I grabbed plastic liquid dispensers to easily get to my various liquids

Managed to slice my finger open making little lids of acrylic to hold all my disposable paper products

*Most of my other acrylic pieces have been purchased from MUJI

I hope you enjoyed my ~teal battlestation~, if you have any other questions about it feel free to ask. And I'm sorry if it was unclear at all. And, I'm 100% aware I have a stupid amount of makeup that I've gotten over the years as a makeup artist, Sephora employee, and a true Make Up Addict.

I don't know anything about tattoos, but maybe it's a good idea to send him some practice skin, this is <$12 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Sheets-Tattoo-Practice-XLarge-Count/dp/B001CJSKUK

I hope he's doing alright otherwise

This palette is by Frola Cosmetics, and I purchased it for $10 through Amazon. I do not own (nor have I tried) the Anastasia palette that resembles this one, so I can't comment too much on their similarities. All I can say is that I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of this one, and do not feel the need to purchase the more expensive version.

Edit: I can't believe I forgot a product list. Sorry guys.

  • Mac face and body foundation
  • Loreal True Match Concealer
  • Frola palette to set makeup, contour highlight, and add color to cheeks.
  • Laura Mercier Rose Gold Caviar Stick
  • Lorac Rosé eyeshadow
  • Covergirl Clump Crusher
  • Mac Redhead Fluidline Brow Gelcreme
  • Loreal glossy stain (I can't remember the shade and I don't have it with me but I'll update when I get back home and can check)
  • Mac Fix+

Ok, first, take a deep breath! This is a very emotionally taxing time.

Next, get yourself some eyebrow stencils like this and use a brightly colored eyeliner (I use teal blue or white) to trace the shape that you want. Pluck everything outside of the shape you traced. Then fill in any gaps with a matching eyebrow pencil. Hope this helps!

So your best best is to get stuff from Amazon Prime. Since you don’t typically wear makeup, I think a simple look will work best for you. I’d stay away from foundation since if you’re not used to wearing it, it can feel heavy and itchy. Concealer would be good to try though, a little bit under your eyes and on any blemishes will even out your complexion without it being too much—try this: L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer, Light Ivory, 0.28 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VKIJPNE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CPxXAbWJPHCHC

For eyeshadow, I like to blend a matte brown in my crease and then put a shimmery skin-tone color on my lid to make my eyes pop. I’ve heard good things about this one: wet n wild Color Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palette, Rose in the Air, 0.3 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077V5CTXN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rWxXAb163N4AT

I use this mascara and it works well: L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara, Blackest Black, 0.28 fl. oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XF2TR11/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_63xXAb0DTNT87

I like to use a glowy blush to make my skin look healthy, something like this: Milani Baked Blush, Luminoso, 0.12 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00518N2JC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f9xXAbC4MPGHM

And lastly, I like a tinted lip balm to tie everything together. These look really pretty and taste good too! Revlon Kiss Lip Balm, Juicy Peach https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KI40DHM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4byXAbANQY65A

These can all also be bought at drug stores, so if Amazon isn’t an option, I’d see if you can get a grocery service to pick them up for you, like Instacart maybe. Good luck!

u/JJJacey · 22 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I haven't tried the Too Faced Mascara Melt Off but I use a similar product (KIss Me Heroine Make Mascara Remover) and it's the best remover I've ever had. Swipe it on like mascara and in less than a minute I can just blot off even the strongest waterproofs... and it's less than half the cost of the Too Faced one.

u/chiffonandheels · 15 pointsr/brownbeauty

Oh my god, I think color correcting is my calling. I posted in MUA a few months ago about my color correcting B/A (link here) and I'm a huge advocate of drugstore makeup.

These are my lifesaving products- keep in mind that although I am a medium/deep (tan) skin tone, the following correctors can work wonders for darker and lighter skin tones.

  1. L'Oreal Color Correcting Primer in Medium/Deep

  2. NYX's Concealer in a Jar in Orange

  3. Concealer Palette

These products may be cheap, but the amount of correction to the face is astounding.

The first product is something I use everyday. I take about half a pump onto the back of my hand and go around my undereye/eye area, my muzzle discoloration and my hyperpigmented birthmarks on my face. A light, targeted layer of this instantly brightens the skin, and often times it will be enough after foundation to cancel out discoloration.

For days where I have slept less, or woken up after being dehydrated, the orange pot concealer is my best friend. I will blend this orange with a lighter skin tone concealer from the palette to create a custom correcting shade for concealing. The palette also has some peach-y tones but I find they are too light for me. When mixed, the concealer becomes this beautiful smooth and creamy formula that can be layered (lightly!) to avoid creasing, but to create a flawless finish. That concealer palette is also incredibly helpful for contouring/highlighting.

My next color correcting investments will be these products:

  4. Mac Prep + Prime Fortified Skin Enhancer in Recharge

  5. Mac Studio Conceal and Correct Palette in Medium Deep
Destiney Godley has a great video where she uses this and loves it, so I'm pretty stoked to get it.

If you have any questions please please please let me know! I'm by no means an expert, but I do this every single time I wear makeup, and I've only gotten better at it! :)
u/auralie · 15 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Some of these might run you a couple dollars over 10, but they're all pretty good!

u/vitamere · 13 pointsr/medicalschool

And for the most waterproof mascara I've ever encountered, I recommend Heroine Make Kiss Me mascara which is actually so waterproof that you need their special mascara remover. You could swim across the Pacific and it wouldn't come off.

[Also, as a female almost-MS2 currently doing an IM preceptorship, this makes me feel less ridiculous for putting on makeup every day so I don't scare off people.]

u/dysentary_danceparty · 12 pointsr/rpg

I mean, these exist - [Fake Skin for Tattooing Practice] (http://www.amazon.com/PFT-Sheets-Tattoo-Practice-XLarge/dp/B001CJSKUK)

Could use those as a base and do what you're describing with latex on top of that/rigid colloidal and blood. I do not know how they'll take to the details, they're made for practicing tattooing so that is their intended purpose to act like synthetic skin. It might work as a base, and it's cheap, and it's in sheets! Maybe!

u/Hellodeeries · 12 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Ohhh, that sucks. You can get it cheaper (assuming you are Canadian and live there, not visiting) on Amazon.

edit: also, to compare pricing, the Amazon listing in CDN is around $25, USD is around $21. To buy it full-price (retail) is USD $24. That store is crazy marked up - exchange to USD is about $30 (probably includes taxes, I'm assuming).

u/believekarma · 11 pointsr/MakeupAddictionCanada

If you don't have them already, Amazon has The Balm products like Betty/Mary/Cindy Lou Manizers, which are priced like $10 cheaper than at Rexall, and have free shipping because they're over $25.

u/groucho_barks · 10 pointsr/fo4

Pork bellies, baby! But nowadays they have [fake practice "skin"] (https://www.amazon.com/PFT-Sheets-Tattoo-Practice-XLarge/dp/B001CJSKUK). Then once they start on customers they should only by copying small simple flash designs until their line work and shading are solid.

edit: missing square braket

u/WinnyPooBoo · 10 pointsr/Eyelooks

I love it! Suggestion to make the green more dark like the photo you should put some gel eyeliner underneath. Based on ur photo i believe the inner corner highlight has some highlighter in it or even glitter

Edit: Maybelline New York Makeup Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner, Blackest Black, Waterproof, 0.106 Ounce,Pack of 1

Edit 2: i also think she used a very white concealer underneath.

u/kayceelee · 10 pointsr/AskMen

I think it's okay. Do it if you want to. Applied well, most people won't even notice you're wearing any.

ProTip: If your bags are really bad, go for concealer with an Orange or salmon-y undertone. It's opposite blue/purple on the color wheel, so it cancels out and better conceals the color of your under-eye circles. Something like this mixed with or underneath your regular concealer, or this which is concealer with a salmon undertone.

u/TS_SamanthaP · 9 pointsr/crossdressing

Your face is a canvas and the make-up is like paint. Think about painting in layers if that helps.

That being said, here's my recommendation. You skin is your canvas so you gotta take care of it. Pay attention to your body/skin, everyone is different so use what is working for you. Exfoliate regularly, exfoliating helps clear up pores and scrub away dead skin. I do it daily, again do as much as your own skin needs to. My pores tend to clog easily so I try my best to keep it clean. I use something like this, just a slightly rougher bath sponge, squeeze a little face wash on it and lightly scrub - again this is what I do, your mileage may vary.

Regardless of how oily your skin is, moisturize it. If you have naturally oilier skin like me, use a lighter moisturizer (it feels lighter on your skin not as thick or creamy). conversely, use a heavier moisturizer if you tend to have dry skin. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "face moisturizer" product, lotions work also i've noticed. The point of all this is you want a clean and hydrated skin, it looks younger and healthier. I use, Aveeno's Men's After Shave Lotion. It get's two birds with one stone for me, aftershave plus helps keep my skin hydrated and is on the lighter side (won't feel greasy when it dries.)

The next layer in the painting would be concealer and foundation. Concealers are more pigmented "cover up" work. Using me again, i have slight rosatia/pinkness, concealers help neutralize out the redness to a more even skin tone. Foundation is a less pigmented but does the same thing essentially. Go to a Walgreen's or any drugstore and just look at the color samples. You'll want to color match to your neck so that your general face color blends in with your neck. Taking care of you skin takes time to get but when you get there you shouldn't need much concealer or foundation to even out your face. I like BB Cream No. 23, Natural Biege, matches my color fairly well.

You can pick either of those up or an equivalent product at any drugstore. People won't give you any grief, it's not too common but some males do buy coverup/concealers for acne breakouts so it shouldn't cause too much fuss to buy in person.

As far as applying blush, eyeshadow, liner brows ... the works, it's hard to type out and is best if shown to you. Beating a dead horse, watch the you tube videos and practice putting them on. You WILL get better. I did a quick look through amazon, this Shany Set seems like an okay kit. It has a various color pots to play/practice with. (color pot, the little containers that the actual make up sits in.) Your small round pots are your eyeshadows and the large round ones are your blushes. It looks like it comes with the applicators too, the fancy q-tip looking things are for eyeshadows and the bristle brush for blush. It also has the standard black and brown pencil eye liner, a pencil lip liner, lipstick and some nailpolish.

When it's all said and done, you've read all that you can or watched all the videos you've cared to watch. My best advice I can give you is take care of your skin and practice. Keep putting it on, get a feel for it and learn how certain things get applied. Eyeliner for example, you need to get used to the fact that there's something that close to your eye when you're trying to put it on. With time and practice it gets easier, your hand gets steadier and your eyes don't flinch as much.

Not my best nor my worst, but here's where i'm at on a typical day. http://i.imgur.com/C1vPsxg.jpg

Lastly, baby wipes or makeup remover wipes is good for taking it all off and these on a cotton swab is good to remove eyeliner without any trace.

Edit: words and links

u/Squirdle · 9 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Here are a couple great wallet friendly drugstore items that she might like and I've included links so you can see what they look like - I didn't go into things like concealer or foundation because she needs to pick out the right color herself but if she wants recommendations for those just let me know :)

u/adoorbleazn · 9 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

If you're looking for something just as bright, but cheaper, I have this palette and it's really really pigmented for a drugstore brand! I can swatch it later for you if you want. I think you would have to buy off Amazon/similar places because the company can't ship it to the US. Some of the pigments aren't eye-safe according to the FDA, although they are considered safe in Europe--it's the same this with this palette, which is why they don't have "eyeshadow" written anywhere on the box, lol.

Maybelline Eye Studio Liquid Precise Liner. I've tried lots of brands of all price ranges and this one is my go to. The application style is very easy to work with, and it lasts all day.

u/thekenzo · 7 pointsr/badtattoos

Get them some of these as a gift and help get them in touch with a professional that they can apprentice under.

The guy/gal has lots of promise.

I've been trying to find a new hobby lately and have been amazed by this subreddit and its contributors. I was inspired, so I went and bought some NYX brow cake and took a stab at doing my eyebrows. I kind of feel like I might need a cooler brown color (my hair is mousy/ashy brown).

This is what I bought:
NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder - Brown/Dark Brown http://amzn.com/B002QI2TPI

Constructive criticism definitely welcome because I am clueless!

Edit: Thank you everyone for your critiques. Sounds like I need a trip to the store for some better color and tools.

>i think i like androgynous looks best

For androgynous looks you should focus on complexion, brows, and nude/natural lips.

Complexion: Don't neglect a good skincare regimen. This is more important than makeup imo. Cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen, and stay hydrated! Your skin will thank you.

Next, go to your closest Sephora and ask for foundation matching. Ask them about both shade and undertones. A pale warm skin will look much different than a pale cool skin. This is because of those different tones and can be really frustrating when you are just starting out. Makeup is essentially just paint for your face. Another commenter left an awesome and thoughtful reply about experimenting with applying foundation--read her entire comment because it's golden. You won't know how to do it until you try. A lot of makeup application is trial and error.

Brows: You'll need a brow pencil in a color that closely matches your natural brows, a [spoolie] (https://www.target.com/p/e-l-f-eyelash-brow-wand/-/A-15247525?sid=1316S&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Health+Beauty+Shopping_Local&adgroup=SC_Health+Beauty&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=m&location=9030209&gclid=CjwKCAjw85zdBRB6EiwAov3RihqEamqHG9SOuWxNapy8z81h3YFfKl9gkCsMlFspd5_jTQPVDHZBfhoC09wQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) and some good tweezers. Focus on the shape. Clean up hairs above and below the shape you are trying to achieve. Using the spoolie, brush your brows up and trim off long hairs. Fill in the brow with the pencil, lightly at first and then darkening as you get used to it. It's just like coloring with a crayon. Brush through with the spoolie to blend the drawn brow with your natural brow. If you can't find a shape you like on your own, they make stencils (just be careful with these--it can make them too boxy or unnatural really fast).

Lips: For an androgynous look you'll want a nude or natural lip, which is great because it will be hard to mess up and even if you do the mistakes are less noticeable. It will also give you practice for later if you decide to move a more bolder route. Peachy or taupe colors starting out will be easy-peasy. For tools, a lip brush is sometimes helpful, as is a lip liner. Both will help keep your lipstick from "bleeding" or traveling outside of the lines. Draw your lip liner as close to your natural line as possible. If you do overdraw, try to keep a natural shape and also remember it will have a different texture and shade from your natural lip.

Look at reviews of products before you buy. This can give you an idea of how the product will work before you invest in it. The sidebar of the sub has a list of favorites (sometimes called hg or "holy grail") in every price range for basic products for eyes, lips, and face.

As you get more comfortable with application, you can start adding contour, smokey eyes, and darker lips for a more editorial andro look. Lastly, don't be scared--we were all newbies at one point!!

Use eyebrow stencils!

Not that they never did, but I know some people that became professional tattoo artists, and they never mentioned using a pig. Historically I know it's been done, but I'm not sure it happens much now, at least in the US. You're spot on about drawing a lot, and also sweeping floors (because you're an apprentice in a tattoo shop). For practice with a tattoo gun a lot of them use themselves, and their buddies who already have a lot of tattoos and won't mind a silly little token from their friend.

I would say it's more likely that in 2017 there are companies that sell some kind of "skin surrogate" to test on than using a pig (or part of a pig). Yup, one google search and here it is. I'm not sure if this is frowned upon in the real tattoo community (as opposed to the DIY tattoo community).

u/TorchedPanda · 6 pointsr/Makeup

Transgirl here. I'm still learning a lot but I've picked up a lot of tips.

Youtube is a great place to start. There's lots of make-up channels.

Use a primer, especially if you're going with a powder foundation, it helps everything set better imo.

I have dark beard shadow and color corrector has been a godsend. Depending on your skin tone, applying orange or like a salmon color before your foundation should help hide that immensely. I really like nyx for these.
https://www.amazon.com/NYX-Cosmetics-Concealer-Orange-0-25/dp/B004QQ1170

If you have a friend you can trust have them help you find a foundation to match your skin tone unless you're confident you can figure it out.

If you have masculine facial features a highlighting kit is your lifeline. It can really help mask things you want to cover and draw towards what you like. Again a friend who knows what they're doing really helps since every face is different, but you can get the gist online and stumble through.

Idk if you plan on using lipstick, because I didn't care for it at first, but a little extra color really helps me pass.

Eyeliner is still the hardest part for me. Like, I seriously think you just gotta practice and mess up a lot before it starts to click. Eventually your eyes will stop watering up, if they do now lol. You'll find stuff you like but it takes a lot of practice. Cis-girls have years on us lol.

I haven't done much with eyeshadow yet but find colors that work with your skin tone, lipstick whatever and make sure to blend them well.

If you have any more specific questions I'm happy to help however i can.

I think Sephora is great, but drugstore brands also have a lot to offer! Check out Ulta.com for drugstore brands and more mid-range brands that Sephora doesn't carry (Lorac being a major one!)

I made a shopping list. Pick one substitute instead of a splurge and you come in under $250. The splurges I picked are well worth the cost, though. Note also that the chocolate bar palette is the only one I listed because it's pretty much the be-all-end-all of palettes for its simultaneous pops of flattering colors and neutrality. I also believe everyone should have a gorgeous red lippie. Enjoy!

  • Splurge: MAC Russian Red, $16 at MACcosmetics.com
  • Substitute: Revlon Really Red - I couldn't find this on Amazon reliably, but check drug stores.
  • Basically any NYX lippie is great to start out and they range from about $4-8. Find one in your fave color at target or ULTA.

Edit: Forgot eyebrows. Darn. Still can come under $250 with the right substitutions.

I absolutely love my UD lipstick in Apocalypse. I CantLiveWithoutIt . It's kind of dark to wear every day, but I try to wear it whenever I get the chance. Here's one of my favorite ways to wear it..

I'd love this gel eyeliner. I've been wanting to use gel for awhile now, I'm just a little afraid of it!

Thanks for the contest. :)

A lot of people seem to like this. I've never tried it though so I can't really say if it's good or not.

u/Rainbow_Plague · 4 pointsr/feminineboys

My advice: go ham at home, assuming you live in a safe space and slooooowly ease into it outside. One piece of clothing at a time. A tiny bit more makeup than last time. You get the picture. It's very easy to get a look you're not intending to have by "overshooting" to the fem side immediately.

As for makeup, try starting with a BB cream and some super subtle blush.

I love how Milani Luminoso works for me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00518N2JC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_e9YNDb17BYT43

Yes! I got so excited when I saw this! You look great. The lip color and the brows are perfect. My only CC is to take this look one step further and use a highlighter on your cheekbones (or a more highlighting blush) and nose to capitalize on your beautiful skin and bone structure.

ByAllegory has compact and single eyeshadow holders and they’ve come so in handy! They’re on amazon and have their own website as well. They also have lipgloss organizers which are perfect for liquid lipsticks and lipglosses that would fall over in regular lipstick organizers.
I also recommend getting your lipstick organizers at the container store because they’re cheaper they’re only $6. They also have little single containers they’re perfect for storing things like concealers, mascaras, eyeliners - I have 3 of the small ones for concealers, mascaras, nail polish (i have only 4 nail polishes) and then 1 larger one for lip liners cause they tend to be longer in length.

Now that's one thing from TFS I won't change reguardless of what people have said about TFS. This set I havent changed in over a year and probably wont. I love how light it is and the subtle sent is amazing. My daughter uses the oil on her acne prone skin with no issues as well. She uses Benton Honest cleansing foam though. Ive been shopping for a new sunscreen though so I dont mind changing that to cosrx.

If you want to pick something up at a physical store, you can use this thread from MUA for good drugstore brands that run pretty cheap usually :)

If you can't find anything good from this, here's some Brands I suggest:

  • Maybelline (lippies [usually], glosses, and the FIT Me foundation & concealer are amazing) Amazon/CVS/Walmart/Rite-Aid/Ulta

  • Wet n Wild (eye shadows, lippies) usually on Amazon w/ free shipping and <$5 so no worries

  • ELF (Studio line brushes [the others are ehhh] and blush) not everything is on Amazon, but the site has lots of deals and sales all the time

  • NYX (lippies, brow kits, eye shadows) CVS/Amazon/Ulta

As you can tell, yes, I'm really really into makeup

i am not really sure what you mean about the eyelid thing, maybe a picture would help?

i have never used costal scents, but ive seen a few girls here make some nice looks with it. no idea on the quality. i know you said ELF is too expensive, but this palette is only 10 pounds. i have it and i like it. they are pretty good quality for a cheaper eye shadow palette. if you can afford some eye primer, the colors will look even better. i use urban decay primer potion, but that sounds like its a little out of your budget, maybe someone can recommend a cheap one!

i have combination skin (oily and dry! ughhh) and I always use liquid foundation. Powder can make the dry spots look really flaky. Revlon Colorstay is a good drugstore brand, I like it, it has good coverage and staying power, and I hear a lot of people mention it on here.

[edit] i see you are a teen and have youthful skin. if you dont get many breakouts and dont have a lot of unevenness in your skin tone, you could probably get away with a tinted moisterizer or a BB cream instead of a full coverage foundation. i recently got a sample of loreals BB cream and I was a big fan!

i really like ecotools brushes. They are good quality and relatively cheap!

Good luck!

I've been a professional makeup artist for over a decade and have worked with many male celebrities. When it comes to simple male grooming, I follow these steps:

First of all, yes to moisturizer. Yes, yes, yes. That alone will give life to and even out your skin. It will make every product you put on afterwards apply more evenly. Put it on directly out of the shower and let it sink into your skin while you get dressed. I prefer Clinique Dramatically Different or Cetaphil. Both are unscented and don't leave a residue. They absorb quite well.
http://m.sephora.com/product/P122900

For dark circles, make sure you are using a liquid concealer under your eyes, as opposed to a cream. Liquid is much more appropriate for under eye skin texture as its less cakey and less likely to form creases in fine lines. My favorite under eye concealer is MAKE UP FOR EVER's Lift Concealer. Easy to find online. A tube will last you a long time. It is the best under eye concealer I've found on the market, and I've tried many. http://m.sephora.com/product/P12661
Make sure you are aren't going with a color that is too light, as that will look obvious. Against popular opinion, do not use a shade lighter under your eyes. The key is to use a peachy shade. This will counteract the blue tone present in dark circles. It will cover much more effectively than a lighter shade. It will also look more natural. You can alternatively buy an ORANGE correcting concealer to mix with your current concealer. It should drastically enhance whatever coverage you are currently getting. http://www.amazon.com/NYX-Cosmetics-Concealer-Orange-0-25/dp/B004QQ1170

For enlarged pores, I suggest a pore refining primer. I love Dr. Brandt's Pores No More. Put it on at the very end of your routine. It will erase any visible pores. It's my favorite last step.
https://www.birchbox.com/shop/dr-brandt-pores-no-more-pore-refiner-0-5-oz?CAWELAID=120228020000003050&CAGPSPN=pla&gclid=CM-mjZPnqMsCFUiPfgod0psMVw

Also, make sure your eyebrows are tidy. Not overly groomed, but I always use a clear eyebrow gel to keep them in place.

Lip balm or chapstick is also great for a finishing touch.

Oil cleansing is the best, I don’t regret it. It removes everything easily and after I follow up with my regular cleanser. Is important to use a cleanser afterwards to remove the oil and everything with it. I use either the face shop rice water bright cleansing foam or cerave hydrating cleanser. The face shop brand is korean, the oil is called the face shop facial cleanser natural rice water light cleansing oil. I buy both of them at amazon.

I am agreeing with ilessthanthreepugs when I say it really is the nicest sr I have found. Almost too nice for me probably lol
But I hope you love it as much as we do.
As someone who doesn't have a lot of product yet, I will recommend a bb cream. Since you're starting out, I will give you my first bb cream because though it's not an Asian one which I have now learned I absolutely LOVE, I do love this drugstore one too.
If you do have money to spend, I would recommend this one

BB creams are perfect for beginners, with a great mascara and cream blush.

The cream blushes I use are by L'Oreal I think ? And definitely Urban Decay

My favorite mascaras right now (I am always searching for new ones haha) are

u/Quixle · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I can understand that, you don't want to be work inappropriate. If you want a very heavy coverage, Tarte Amazonian Clay is great, though on the pricy side. I rarely wear that though, since it's quite heavy (I usually cut it with some lotion). And it might be a bit of a splurge for a college budget anyway.
I really like Missha Perfect Cover BB, which is cheaper and more of a medium coverage. It makes my skin look nicer, but doesn't give that flat look that a really heavy foundation can bring. I hope one of those BBs works for you! Are they the Skin79 samples?
Blush is a hard line for me to walk, I have to look overly pink when I first apply it, or it seems invisible in an hour. I really like CoverGirl blushes, actually. NYX has some nice ones too.

I love gel eyeliner, I use it a lot. I have trouble with pencils smudging and liquid coming off where my eye waters.

I use eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow, black gel eyeliner (Maybelline Eye Studio), mascara (benefit Bad Gal Lash), eyebrow stuff (currently a brow pencil), and undereye concealer and blush. If I put a BB or foundation on, I will try to contour too.

Whoo, this is so long, sorry! I have entered a few competitions, but not for awhile (laziness). I actually won one, it's really fun to test your skills!

u/aquamarine271 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

1. Cleanser -link - Remove dirt, really powerful. It has gotten rid of my blackheads, and I had a lot.

2. Exfoliator -link - Only whenever my skin can handle it. Will get rid of all of that flakey skin you have for a smooth finish. It'll make your skin 100% smooth without flakes after 1 use.

3. Essence -link - Skin treatment after exfoliator, replacement for toner. Repairs damaged skin as well and is good protection.

Finally, any Korean BB Cream that goes well with your skin tone. A good BB cream is protective tinted moisturizer to hide your imperfections. Asian BB Cream products are way superior than the American versions.

I would recommend this for you as good BB Creams if you're ever interested:

Choice One - Link - Whitening, Wrinkle Repair, Moisturizer, Tinted, Sunblock. This one is a bit stronger.

Choice Two - Link - Whitening, Wrinkle Repair, Moisturizer, Tinted, Sunblock. This one is more popular.

Yes, as long as it's not shimmery. But this is what I use. Super cheap, works great. You can use the wax to set the powder and sort of mix the shades to get one that matches you.

u/batfacecatface · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Dude, using like four different eyebrow products has been a GAME CHANGER and LIFE SAVER for me. :) First I extend the length of my brow tails using this after brushing my brows with the spoolie. Then I fill in and shape the rest of my brows using this. Then I'll fill in any bare spots with this stuff. Finally my last step is securing those beasts with this!!!! I hope this helps. :)

u/amfiguous · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Hi! This product is actually a brow mascara-- Basically you comb your brows with the product and it colors your brow hairs, makes them thicker, and gives them the appearance of being filled in.

My usual eyebrow routine is using an eyebrow brush and brow powder. I've been using the same one from NYX foreverrrrr, I hit pan awhile ago but I won't let myself buy a new brow product until I finish >.< My brow brush has a brush on one end and a comb on the other that I use for brushing the hairs.

Trying to make this as simple as possible: I grab powder with my brush and start at the middle of my brows, where it's the thickest, filling it in and slowly making my way to the front of the brow. I like powder because it looks natural and I don't do power brows. Sometimes I use a pencil to make my brows darker on the ends, but I don't find it completely necessary. I always end with clear brow gel, because my brow hairs are long and I don't want them to be pointing in all sorts of crazy directions.

Let me know if you have more questions!

u/daisyismydog · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

This Wet n Willd eyebrow palette has really good reviews, I use a pencil from wet n wild right now and I LOVE it! (and it was only 98 cents)

As far as wax's go I have been wanting to try the NYX wax shaper pencil, I've heard good things about it. I use Maybelline's clear mascara right now, but I want to try a wax since the clear mascara has an applicator it gets cloudy with color.

u/WildCard90 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I saw this on a CAH tumblr.

because my eyebrows need help

u/LittleMissBlue · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Nyx has it in a pencil!

I'm not sure if wax is better or worse than gel. I have used gel and hairspray myself, and between those two I prefer the hairspray (gel just gets too gunky too fast and definitely doesn't look natural - I used normal hair gel though and not brow-specific gel, so YMMV). I generally spray a tiny bit of hairspray on my finger and then smooth it over my eyebrow - it holds well and doesn't look or feel bad, but I think wax might be better so I'm going to try the wax pencil.

u/tessie999 · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I had never heard of tight lining!

Will definitely try that once I get a better eyeliner - I have a cheap old liquid one that I tried to demonstrate with but the stupid picture wouldn't upload.

On the E.L.F. front - I didn't realise they did palettes too! This one is incredibly good value...it's just the brushes that were a litte hefty for me!

Should I go for subtle, neutral palettes or just colourful ones? The colourful ones look wonderful but I'll have to amp up my clothing so I can wear them everyday (another thing I'm working on...)!

u/ReisaD · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Yes! Their shadows are VERY pigmented. I have this and DO NOT REGRET IT. Some of the smoothest stuff I have. Some make up swells my face red, this is nice dry/wet. Their glosses and blushes set well on me too. I haven't tried the primer yet, and none of the brushes yet, but for a lower tier make up it's amazing! I will be getting this set too ASAP. Also, I usually get clumps when using wet 'shadows, and I have not come to that with this brand at all. :)

u/beccaonice · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Some colors are better than others, but the blendability of this palette (their Spring palette) seems to be much worse than their other 100 color palette which I find most of the colors highly pigmented, blendable and just generally pretty.

Some of the colors in the Spring palette are highly pigmented, but very difficult to blend. Some of them are great. I find the ones with lots of shimmer tend to be pigmented, but difficult to blend.

I also don't really like the color choices, too many brights, not enough natural, but I guess that's the point.

I really recommend the other palette over the Spring one.

And it's always $10 on Amazon, free shipping if you have Prime.

u/NightFury85 · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

No problem :) Orange works well with your purple circles. Are you darker skinned? I bought mine on Amazon for $5

u/arieltron · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

My input:
I think a undereye concealer/highlighter combo could really open up and brighten you eyes. I use an ELF one that works well and is super inexpensive.

Use highlighter on your brow bones and inner corners of eyes and undereye concealer under eye before applying mascara. To blend concealer, stipple the edges but don't over blend because you want a lot of the pigment from the concealer to remain on top of your undereye circle.

The other thing I would suggest is not a traditional makeup item, but it's cheap. Get sleep, lots and lots of sleep, and drink tons of water. It will help give you a bridal glow.

Edit: also beg your mom or someone else close for an early wedding gift. Have them treat you to a facial and brow mapping. You'll look so polished for your big day!

To help with the glow, I looked up an orgasm dupe and I found this never tried it but it looks gorgeous!

For me this community has been a never ending inspiration! From pushing my boundaries and skills. To making me feel cared for and comfortable in my own skin!

Best advice: don't wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect!

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials KP! Good luck with your no buy!

Hey there girl! I don't see any makeup answers yet in the comments, so I'll tackle that question.

Makeup Starter Kit

  1. My coming out process ended up moving much more rapidly than I expected and I was out to most all of my friends and some of my family within a couple of months of accepting that I was trans. Once I stopped being ashamed of it, it all just started to flow. The only serious coming out conversation I have left is with my dad, which I'm intentionally delaying because he's going through a lot right now and it will almost certainly result in our estrangement.

  2. My therapist and my friends, absolutely without a doubt. Supportive friends make a huge difference. They let you see what life can be like, which gives you the hope you need to keep going.

  3. I'm not sure what island you're on, but I did some searching and found the Rainbow Family 808, who in turn had the Lavender Clinic listed as a resource. They're based out of Honolulu, but if that doesn't work for you, I'd call the Rainbow Family directly and explain that you're trying to look for a gender therapist and wanted to know if they had any recommendations near where you live.

Good luck! Feel free to comment or PM me if you have any questions.

I've never used the Lora liner, but It looks like it may be really similar to this Maybelline Master Precise liner. I love this liner and it's pretty inexpensive.

u/asinglemantear · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

If you're that worried about removing mascara, they do sell mascara removers that come in tubes. I've been using the Too Faced one that came in my Sephora Play box, but a quick google search has pointed to at least one other.

u/raechelas · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I have been lusting after that palette since it came out! A little out of my price range at the moment. Life has put me on a no-buy. On the cheaper side of things I've been lusting after the Sleek i-Divine Mattes Version 1 Palette Any experience with it?

u/baby_lawn · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Definitely! Just want to be sure to moisturize and prime because of the consistency. There is a $4 dupe (looks like the same exact thing) on Amazon here

Happy you're alive, Tara!

If I win, I would like this from my Makeup list.

I am really really glad you daughter is ok. Traffic accidents can be scary.

u/syaami · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I agree with /u/OneGreatSham. I have the "Let them Eat Cake" palette and find it dry, chalky and barely pigmented. In addition to the advice other people have given, I would try buying eye shadows that are more pigmented. Something like the Sleek I-divine sunset palette is pretty reasonably priced and rated really high by temptalia. You can find it on amazon for around $11.50 shipped. Hope this helps!

I broke my ankle on a trampoline so I feel you on the pity party. (The percocet helped though.) I drive a stick shift so I had to wait a week before I could put any weight on my foot to drive it because OF COURSE I broke my left ankle.

Here is an album of pretty pictures from Manito Park in Spokane, WA. It's my favorite place to go for all seasons because they keep it so nice.

u/perdur · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Ooh, that looks nice! Definitely not my eye shape, though. =/ Mine's pretty much like this. Part of the problem is I'm not sure what I want to do with my eyes - I guess I just want to emphasize them, since I like the color, but I'm not sure how one would go about doing that, and I'd imagine there are lots of different ways!

I actually have a ton of other eyeshadow sets/palettes, but they mostly go unused because I have no idea what to do with them, and I don't want to waste them on my terrible experiments! (Which I know is counterproductive, sigh.) The one I use for playing around is the Shany Bold and Bright palette. I also have a couple of these from ELF in purple and grey/black, but they don't have the greatest pigmentation, and unfortunately I don't think the colors look too great on me. :( About a year ago I ordered Shiro's Hobbit collection, which is so gorgeous, but I've barely used it because I don't want to waste it - and also because I don't think I can handle loose minerals yet, lol. Finally, I just ordered a few palettes from ELF (Studio Prism Eyeshadow in Naked and Sunset, and Studio Baked Eyeshadow in California and Texas), as well as Sleek Makeup's i-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in Vintage Romance, and I'm planning on ordering Coastal Scents' Revealed Palette... so I really need to get my shit together before these all arrive.

So basically I think I gravitate towards browns/bronzes, which do go well with my eyes, but I would love to get some golds, pinks, and blues (preferably of the turquoise variety) in there. I'll check out some of the color combos on the Makeup Geek website!

The Face Shop cleansing oil, followed by The Face Shop rice water cleansing foam. It's a Korean brand and you can find a bundle with both for like $15 on Amazon. Both will last you a while too; the foam will outlast the oil by two or three times as long. And what's great is that Amazon has bundles of them so when you need to replenish it won't break the bank :)

Hey everyone!

I just bought a Hada Labo Hyaluronic lotion to incrorporate it into my skin care. My skin is kinda sensitive normal(not too oily and not too dry). I don't have much acne. My main purpose is to have healthy skin and slow aging process :) What I use now is:

Morning:

- Cleanse with water

- Apply some Aloe vera gel

- Sunscreen (reaply throughout the day if needed)

Night:

- Double cleanse ( The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil + Foam Set by The Face )

- One day I do retinol serum (link), another day I do AHA tonic. I am afraid of using them together

- Wait for 20-40 mins

- Apply Crazy Skin Korea/Trouble Care Sleeping Cream (link)

I feel like I need more moisture (especially in the morning) so I want to integrate it into my routine. Can you reccomend where should I squeeze it?

Thanks! :D

Practice skin. If you want to go above and beyond, and are a hopeless romantic, contact a local butcher and get her the hide of a freshly slaughtered pig. Pig skin is the closest substitute for human skin, and if she wants to be a tattoo artist it's the best medium to practice on. Maybe some incense and flowers as a stocking stuffer, because your place might smell like dead pig for a while.

u/Urethra_Xtreem · 1 pointr/muacjdiscussion

If your skin tone is on the lighter side then Asian BB creams are your friend. They come in a limited color selection and mostly in light shades but they are totally awesome!

My HG is the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream. It’s hella cheap but great coverage and glowy. I do set with powder to make it last though.

I used to use the Skin79 Beblesh Balm but it’s a little grey tinged. But I got compliments on my skin most times I wore this. Very moisturizing and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Took me forever to go through it.

IT Cosmetics CC cream has a better shade selection (not huge but better than Asian BBs) but it’s going to cost more. Same with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Both formulas are very silky and easy to blend. The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer comes in an oil free version as well.

I love the lip color (it looks very natural), and it looks like you have near flawless skin!

I agree with keiramarie about the eyebrows--and I'd go for something that matches the darkest shade of your hair color. Also, have you considered lining your upper lids with dark eye shadow/angled eye shadow brush instead of with eyeliner? I think it would soften your face beautifully!

You have fair skin like me, and I recently sprang for the Beach Tint in "peach"---it works soooo well! If you're looking for a very natural flush, just dab a very very small amount on the tip of your finger and rub it into the apples of your cheeks, spreading it back and away, toward your hair. Any peachy blush would look great, though. Your skin is perfect for it

edit: you asked the other lady about suggestions for the eyebrow fillers and [here are some nice ones (check out the blonde one)] (http://www.amazon.com/NYX-Eyebrow-Cake-Powder-Brown/dp/B002QI2TPI/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1397165188&sr=1-1&keywords=eyebrow+powder)

I haven’t read any reviews on the KVD lash liner and personally I don’t know anyone who uses it so I can’t say whether it’s good or not.
The products I like to use:
L’Oréal
maybelline
urban decay waterline
And brushes I prefer:
real techniques silicon liner brush This one helps me push gel into my lashes easier to fill in gaps.
sigma e10
sigma e06 for easier winged liner in my hooded eyes.
And for the “stamping” I use a flat japonesque brush that they apparently no longer make as it is about 10 years old BUT sigma makes quite similar that are on sale rn that are described as “tightline and waterline brushes.”
sigma e17
sigma e16

To REALLY get in between the lashes place your ring finger (don’t push too hard!!) on your eyelid right above the lashline of where you’ll be placing the product and lift up a little bit. Tilt your head back so that you’re looking downward to the mirror a little bit. That will keep you from blinking/tickling ish as well as spread the lashes so you can work the product into the gaps easier. It also helps keep that part of your eye from getting wet as it will pull it away from your eyeball a little bit. If you get teary, you can squint your lower eye a bit and it should force the tears out so you can keep going once you’ve let them fall from the corners. Do this all before the rest of your shadow. Allow yourself to blink if you must and you can dab off excess moisture on your upper waterline and lashline with a clean finger.

If you use pencil you can use a blow dryer on the tip for a few seconds (not too long! )to warm it up and make it glide easier and be more malleable.

Again, there are many techniques I’m sure that are easier that other people use, this is just what works for me❤️

u/happypolychaetes · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I have really oily eyelids and I actually use gel liner. I get this one and it's fantastic. It's waterproof too, so when I sweat or swim or whatever it still stays on. And it looks very natural; you can do a thin line or a thick line, whatever you want! I like it more than liquid liner because it's more mistake-friendly. I find liquid liner to be much harder to put on.

u/medsi · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I tend to use coconut oil! But remember to always spot test, as what works for some causes breakouts for others. The damage is more of a long term thing -- so chances are you won't see any damage right away, but might pop up if you continue using it once your skin matures.

If your skin feels too tight after washing with salicylic acid (as mine does!), try using a cream cleanser. The tight feeling you get after washing with salicylic acid is essentially your face being stripped of oil, which provides the skin with it's elasticity, and your body will naturally compensate by producing even more oil, sometimes leading to an even oilier complexion. So something less stripping/more gentle, is a solution for some. In the past I've found 2 drugstore brands that worked for me:

http://www.amazon.com/Burts-Bees-Sensitive-Facial-Cleanser/dp/B004W24LQ6/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1377709494&sr=1-2&keywords=cream+cleanser+cotton+burts+bees

http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Oil-Free-Clean-Cream-Cleanser/dp/B000052ZB5/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1377709510&sr=1-1&keywords=neutrogena+cream+cleanser

Alternatively, there's this (which I'm currently using)which is great but is a little more pricey:

http://www.sephora.com/purity-made-simple-P7109

I would recommend checking out /r/skincareaddiction, and maybe potentially looking into OCM (oil cleansing method). While I haven't personally tried it, I hear good things, and the lovely ladies and gentlemen at that subreddit are filled with good info.

The creases around your eyes are more likely to get oily/sweaty. Eye primer is a little bit denser and stickier upon application, and is meant to holder down (loose/powdery) eyeshadows. I find that it also makes applying gel liner a little easier. A little tube of it was around $7, and so far it's lasted me 4, going on 5, months. Face primer is a little more diluted, and it great as a lighter coverage under foundation. Note: I don't use face primer very often so someone much more knowledgable might give a better answer!

Also, I highly recommend this gel liner if you're on a budget:

http://www.amazon.com/Maybelline-Studio-Lasting-Eyeliner-Blackest/dp/B0030HNNS6/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1377709666&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=maybelline+ey+studio

I've never used a high end liner, but this stuff is great! Lasts all day and it come with a little brush! :) If you have trouble getting the desired line you want, remember that you can take a q-tip and erase out.

Hope that helps!

Hi there! I'm new too :)
My name is Kirsten - and everybody always gets it wrong, so I respond to anything close! My favorite makeup product is MASCARA! I'm currently in love with Maybelline Falsies and MAC Zoom Lash.

My favorite makeup look is natural, since I work full-time for a non-profit and they frown upon looking too out of the ordinary, but I'm recently getting more into makeup (hence why I am here!) and have been experimenting with some bolder looks which has been super fun.

Hmmm... my interesting fact/story for today would have to be that one of my best friends was in Tyga's 'Make It Nasty' music video (she's in the navy bathing suit with an anchor!) and another one of my friends medaled in synchronized diving at the Olympics (Kelci Bryant)!

An add-on I've been wanting is this gel eyeliner - I haven't tried a gel before and think it would be so fun to experiment with!

Thanks for hosting! :) I hope you have fun choosing! :)

I have so many hobbies! Probably because i am literally interested in everything I always wanna learn more.

I do some beading and wire jewelry work, I like this one for one my anxiety is really bad because concentration helps me get over the feelings I get.

I am into cooking, specially after a long day at work, it helps me get my frustration with people out into something positive.

I am into automotive work, I love the feeling of having fixed something that was broken, because my life sometimes breaks and I can't fix it, plus its a great way to get out frustrations when you can't hit the person you're mad at, and there is a satisfaction when a guy says you cant cuz youre a girls and you show them.

I love photography, this mostly because I do it woth my SO and its something fun we do together, and we can pretty much do it where ever and when ever we want.

These are my main hobbies although there are a million other things I wanna do/try.

Thanks for the response! For brushes do you think just ordering something like this or this would be good? I have no idea what half of them are for but ~$1 per brush (+case on the one) seems like a pretty good deal. Like it looks like the case one has one of those little angle brushes which I think I've seen used with eyeliner goop stuff I think but the other doesn't. And for eye shadow do you think just getting a giant thing like this would be smart? It seems cheap and there are so many colors so I'd have no problem figuring out which ones I like hahaha.

u/_henhenpal_ · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

1. Hard choice, but I THINK it'd be Maybelline. They have great makeup and great bargains. Or maybe E.L.F...

2.

Face: Maybelline Fit Me concealer. That stuff is. amaze. balls.

Cheek: It's weird, but the L'Oreal Fairest Nude Lipstick, because it creates the most beautiful, natural blush.

Lip: Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon, because it's beautimous.

3. Revlon Creme Eyeshadow. I have a quad, and it's so weird. Gunky, gross, and NEVER FREAKING DRIES. Well, I mean, you know, not necessarily dry, but y'know what I mean? That stuff stays about 2 seconds on my lids before sliding off, and I don't have oily lids :(

4. A lot of stuff from E.L.F. I mean, some of their stuff really is worth that $1 you spent on it, but I've had a good experience with most of their products. The one in particular I'm thinking of is their dollar eyelash curler. Maybe I don't love on my eyelashes enough, but I think an eyelash curler is an eyelash curler, and I'd rather buy a new lip product than one of those!

5. I think CoverGirl Quads are pretty great (:

6. Physician's Formula is sorta pricey for what it is.

7. I don't have any thing 'dupeable' because all I have is drugstore:(

8. I honestly don't know, just starting out in makeup, I do a lot of research on here and MUA before buying. Most of what I've bought so far seems pretty good (:

9. Oh God, so many come to mind...I think what I'd most like to try is the Maybelline Fit Me foundation, because the concealer was so freaking amazing!!

10. I don't know... true makeup, probably either this or this. Makeup accessories probably these or these.. But the thing I seriously need that is only makeup related for me is this, because I literally sit on a bucket to do my makeup. Wow, all of that makes me sound like a spoiled brat...Just for the record, I don't expect anyone to actually get them for me, they're just high up there on my WL (: Thank you so so much for the contest!!!

u/feetsoup · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I just got this. It's pretty good! I like it a lot.

u/sullaria · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

I really like this one, which is sometimes sold in a set with Kiss Me Heroine mascaras.

u/annkin · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Does anyone know if this Isehan heroine make mascara remover in tube form is the same as this formula in the bottle? I love the wand applicator to directly apply it on my lashes and if it's the same I'll just decant into the tube :D

u/Bluebleusky · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I've looked at it before, and it seems the company makes a specific makeup cleanser for that product? Have you tried that?

u/pineapplefeline · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I use micellar water too, and I would do a second cleansing with an oil cleanser which took off the remaining mascara without any harsh rubbing!

They also make a specific remover if you want to try that out!

u/screambledeggs · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Heroine has their own mascara remover. It works pretty well but... if you wear Heroine everyday, you'll run out of it quickly.

What I do now is wearing a lash primer (Etude House dr. mascara fixer) before applying Heroine. By the end of the night, I use an oil cleanser and slather it all over my lashes. I wait 5 minutes then it removes completely. No rubbing needed.

u/nesianeni · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Wow that is super awesome! Congrats! Are you getting promoted? Lol, I think that'd be a great idea ;) What are your plans to celebrate? Thanks for the contest.

At the top of my list I have this and this

BIG MONEY!

u/youreabuttface · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Seems like we both came back around the same time!

I'm looking forward to just hopefully getting my life together in 2015. I wanna get back on track with all the things I've been meaning to for the past I don't know how many years.

I'd love this palette if I win!

u/sexybirdchick · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Should I buy the coastal scents 120 palette or the sleek V1 pallete? (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008B60N84/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2VJ5ISFGB5TF7)

Also what do you guys think of other coastal scents palettes like warm?
And what about their brushes?

Edit: Also, has anyone tried the new Color Tattoo Leather 24 hr? What do you think ?

And what are your favorite makeupgeek eyeshadows?

u/thatsnotarealjob · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Sleek (a UK brand, but you can find it on amazon) makes some pretty good palettes in that price range. I'm not particularly impressed with the quality of my NYX palette (their single shadows are more consistent) but I think Sleek does a good job in terms of texture and pigmentation.

Here is a neutral palette by them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008QYAJXU

A brights palette:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008B60N84/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1375148980&sr=8-3&pi=SL75

I'd shop around and find a palette you're comfortable with from them.

Also, Coastal Scents is really inexpensive and I think the quality of their Go Palettes are pretty impressive. I would avoid their really big 88 palettes though. I have the feeling that the bigger the palette from them, the worse quality it is.

I have Beijing and the colors are so pretty! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005UBN3NU/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?qid=1375149120&sr=8-16&pi=SL75

I also have their brush kit--I would recommend that as well.

As for drugstore brands--Wet n Wild's "Comfort Zone" is a GREAT neutral palette and its only $4.99-$5.99 at drugstores. Their other shadows vary in quality, but for the most part, they're on par with NYX for a little cheaper. I also really like Sonia Kashuk's neutral matte palette (my mom has it) and that's about $19.99 at Target.

Oh, and definitely pay Nordstrom Rack a visit if you're looking for higher-end brands at ridiculous discounts (I see UD and Smashbox there on the regular!) Just don't buy a palette with colors you're not comfortable with using because its from a high end brand. When I was starting out I bought UD's old Fun palette because it was on sale and I seriously only ever figured out how to make one shadow work with my skintone. I ended up loving Wet n Wild's comfort zone way more.

Have fun!

1.)I enjoy watching things on netflix. My current obsession is Bobs Burgers or Death Note. I recommend something more kid friendly. A cartoon maybe.

2.)My favorite subreddit is /r/nosleep because there are so many stories to read and I love the thrill of a scary story.

3.)I want my mommy.

This is my item, for when I need to hide my eye bags from staying up all night.

u/projectedwinner · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I had a long stretch of time to myself last night and plenty of time to do makeup without rushing, so I thought I would pull out the Shiros that I got last week for u/lecatprincess's All Aglow contest.

I'm new to glitter (thought before that my wrinkly ol' eyelids couldn't tolerate glitter or shimmer in any way), and haven't used loose pigments in a while, so I knew this could be a mess. And in fact, even pat-pat-patting the color on, I had to wipe off my first eyes because using I'll Move That For You over Wildflowers resulted in my looking like I had been punched in the eye by someone very glittery and fabulous.

Please ignore my messy eyelashes - I decided to go all-out and put on Ardell individual lashes and they don't play nicely with be-mascaraed eyes (at least not ones wearing They're Real) so my lashes look messier than usual (I need a good comb, mine does not do the trick; recommendations welcome!).

Here's mah face without the spotlighting: eyes open and eyes closed.

Face

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

CoverGirl Clean Whips Foundation in 310

Benefit Fakeup

This concealer with the darkest shade for contour and the lightest not-white shade for highlight (this was my first time trying contour with creams instead of powders)

TheBalm Instain Blush in Argyle

Cindy Loumanizer

NYX Taupe for contour because I think I was too tentative with the cream contour

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

Eyes:

NYX HD lid primer

Shiro Wildflower on lid (I think despite the pic I got pretty even coverage, I think the sparse area in the pic is a lighting issue)

Shiro Elite Four in crease and outer lid

Shiro Twighlight Realm in outer corner of lid

TheBalm Mary Loumanizer on brow bone

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner on top lid (/u/Quixle, I LOVE THIS!)

CoverGirl eyeliner of indeterminate name and shade on lower lashline (I will look it up if you'd like, it's a pencil with a smudge sponge on the other end and I got it free with a CG coupon my daughter gave me)

They're Real on top lashes

Lash Discovery on bottom lashes

Lips:

NYX Tea Rose

Stila Color Me Pretty Convertible Color Palette in Kitten just in center of lips for a little sheen

I was going to suggest the other Vice palettes but I realize that's stupid given that you'd have to probably pay an obscene amount for those... lol. Sleek (I believe it's an AUS brand??) has some good options. They're a drugstore brand but I've read great reviews, esp. about the Sunset Palette (http://www.amazon.com/Sleek-i-Divine-Sunset-Palette-Mineral/dp/B008QYALFG/ref=pd_sim_bt_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0WJSJS5XTAE4D7M1D6WY). Luckily, you can get Sleek palettes through Amazon and avoid international shipping if you're from the U.S.!

I'm definitely a neutral shadow lover so I don't have any great suggestions for you. I just purchased the LORAC Mega Pro (large neutral+color selection), but that might be hard for you to get... Ah, sorry!

Maybe try out the Sleek Vintage Romance palette. It's got a shade like the one you're looking for (there's a picture of a swatch in the customer photos). I have two Sleek palettes and they're not expensive ($10-$15 on average) and the quality is great!

Stalk her makeup collection to see what she already has, so you don't buy doubles.

If you want to go for fancy presentation, I think you should get a few types of product, like brushes, some lip things, and some eye things.

Real techniques brushes are great, and you can get them in stores or on Amazon; here's a couple [sets] (http://www.amazon.com/real-Techniques-Core-Collection-Set/dp/B004TSFBNK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397668617&sr=8-3&keywords=real+techniques+brushes).

The Sleek palettes are well thought of and cheap, and I don't think she'd object to getting this.

Lipstick is based a lot on skin tone, so if you want to get anything like that you should try to figure out what her undertones are. Before you panic, an easy way to guess is if she wears

gold
yellows/oranges
warm, autumnal colors

She's probably got warm undertones. You can also take a peek at her foundation to see if it has anything on there like "warm" or "neutral" or "cool" - then you can maybe take a look at the lipstick labels and compare. If a red says "true red" it's may have some blue undertones.

Ideally, you'll be able to ask a sales rep somewhere, and maybe you can bring pictures taken in natural lighting for them to get a good idea.

If you don't want to do all that, a nice assortment of tinted lipbalms (people here seem to like the baby lips ones, and they're at basically all drugstores/makeup sections in stores that have makeup sections)

And you can't go wrong with a good primer. Go to Sephora or something and pick up one of the travel size Smashbox photo-finish face primers (the travel size is a better deal, ounce per ounce) and add a few things of chocolate for good measure.

u/whythehecknot · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I was eyeing some Muji drawers, but I opted for 2 of these instead. I like to store my foundations standing up and the open top part of this lets me do that. I have one for lip products and one for foundation/concealer/highlighter/bronzer.

I'll also second the byAlegory lip gloss organizer. I like to store lip gloss upright, too, and they kept flopping over in regular lipstick organizers.

The Korean brand COSRX makes some great, sensitive products with AHA and BHA. Using products with tea tree oil might help, but be wary of anything that could potentially alter your hormone profile. The basics of Korean skin care are consistent, everyday use of a clear step-by-step process. I suggest this site for how-to.

You don't need every step necessarily, but I would start slowly with 3-4 and build up slowly as to not agitate your skin. The important ones for you are going to be the two part cleansing, toning, essence, spot treatments and ampules, and light moisturizer-- so about six of the steps or so.

Here are some things that I find help, and seem to be very popular for acne prone skin. I have used all these, as well as my sensitive, acne prone DH and had success:

  1. Acne Patches

  2. A good toner with BHA & AHA

  3. A good essence/light moisturizer

  4. Good oil free moisturizer

  5. Good water-base face wash 1, and good face wash set with oil cleanser and water based cleanser, good oil based with added makeup removing

  6. Good spot treatment

  7. Some fun and cheap masks that sooth and treat your skin. I recommend one a week. Either Sephora or Tonymoly make some good ones.

Finally, be very careful ordering similar "discount" products off amazon because it is rife with counterfeits from China. This can be dangerous as the contents of the product/ingredients are not necessarily listed correctly, which is a problem. Buying reputable brands from verified sellers or soko glam or Sephora is absolutely recommended. I get a lot of Amazon, but I always use Fakespot.com and also check the seller out carefully. If the well-known brand manufacturer is selling it direct to Amazon, that is a pretty safe bet.

All of these thing start with the skin down, but also consider the bottom up. Look at your diet, look at your activity level, how often you clean your sheets, how stressed you are, and your general health. Have you been evaluated for gynecological or endocrine issues? It's a good idea to know that before you jump to conclusion. Make sure to consult a doctor, because sometimes our skin is a good indication of something off inside.

Good luck and I am sorry you are suffering!

Hey I don't know if you're still looking (I arrived on this post checking your history on leaving LLR). I've recently started using products from The face shop (actual name). It's a Korean brand and I ordered from Amazon after seeing some reviews a bit of everywhere.

It's quite amazing, I bought this pack (European version of Amazon, it's probably available for your area too): The Face Shop [Total 2Pcs] Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil + Foam SET https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00SUZWGHM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_yqHDAbSFE0E7H

It's a cleansing product. If you're looking for moisturizing stuff, I go with neutrogena (for the body) and mixa (for the face). I have a normal skin type, non oily, but with dry tendencies in winter. I also use a body butter 2 times a week, from nspa.

u/qyokm · 1 pointr/glossier

do you use the rice water bright one? (pink)

i'm going to switch to this from that as well, but if you ever use a similar product again, keep the plastic bit it comes with to prevent the pump from going down. glossier's body oil has one too.

e: ALSO if you/anyone else sees this, amazon has the foaming + oil cleansers as a pair for like $14 here, since you said you paid $12 for just the oil cleanser :c

u/yasdovakiinslay · 1 pointr/SkincareAddicts

Second this! Was actually about to post this myself :)

I've been using the cleansing oil and face wash set for a few months now and I've noticed a massive difference in my skin texture and tone.

u/warau_meow · 1 pointr/SkincareAddicts

My skin is kinda sensitive, and I enjoy using a variety of cleaners - but the wipes don't usually do well with my skin. My favorite for makeup is Sephora's make up remover, esp the eye make up remover liquid. I also like the face shop rice water cleanser set, because it has an oil cleanser you use with a normal soap cleaner you get a moist and smooth clean and the makeup really comes off well. I got the set based off someone's rec here actually. When I'm not wearing heavy makeup I often just use this swedish bar soap, which is very nice and doesn't irritate my skin.

u/alittlepixie · 0 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I'll definitely let you know! Actually, I was recently glammed this fantastic palette and it's GREAT to help with redness and when I'm having bumpy skin days, but I can't seem to get it to work as well with the bags under my eyes.
