I am well aware that this album is not a detailed step by step. If that is requested, I can make that happen. Most of the bench/beds I found spread width wise, but for my layout I wanted something that went the other way, so this is what I came up with and I am really happy with the amount of floor space it saves.

Here is the mattress I used.

Well...don't be a fucking cock tease about it, Mr. and/or Mr(s). MattressMogul.

  • Do brands matter? If so, what's a short list to look for?
  • What common buzzwords are complete garbage/hooey/empty?
  • What's your sleep number?
  • Memory foam?
  • I've had my eye on this guy (or something similar). Your opinions?
  • Online or brick & mortar? If B&M, what stores?
  • I've heard this is an item you can haggle. True?
Of course you can haggle anything but some products just aren't worth it. Either the store doesn't support it or the margins are too slim for there to be any wiggle room.
  • How do I get my sheets to stop coming off on the corners?
  • How do I get rid of box springs?

Another Zinus mattress recommendation. I got this one and it’s only $277 on Amazon right now! I bought it in October 2017 & it’s still great. Prior to that I’d always buy $600+ Sealy and Sertas. Never again! We live in good times for mattresses.

Stealth/private camping vehicle ideas:

Tri-fold mattress, blackout curtain, 35% or state legal tint, Rain Guard and ShadeSox (bug/privacy screen), and optional hyper-insulated custom window covers. Avoid covering the driver and front passenger side windows, not as stealthy. Only use a windshield sun shield in the summer.

Scout out light industrial street parking and large suburban apartment complexes in safe areas.

I did a lot of research last year before buying a memory foam mattress. Price was very important to me. I ended up with one by DreamFoam: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0092UCN0Y

It's 8 inches of base foam and 5 inches of memory foam. I am a heavy guy and for the almost 1 year I have had this mattress it has held up well. It does tend to sag a tad on my side of the bed, but then I switched sides and that side returned to normal.

I highly recommend checking out the site http://themattressunderground.com before buying. I found this mattress thanks to them.

Edit: forgot to mention, the only thing I wish I had done differently is I wish I had gotten the king size instead of the queen. With memory foam, you lose a little bit of width of the bed simply because the edges are not rigid like a coil mattress.

u/omar_strollin · 11 pointsr/Frugal

This mattress is amazing. I mention it every time someone needs a frugal mattress recommendation on here because I love it so much. It's the best sleep I've ever had for the price of a regular crappy mattress.

The BF and I have been sleeping on it for 10 months and I never have back pain, hardly ever wake up in the in the middle of the night (which I used to constantly on a regular mattress), and his tossing and turning does not shake the entire mattress.

It doesn't get hot as some people worry about either, and no permanent indentation so far. I am 150 lb and he is 180 lb, if that helps.

Plus it can be delivered straight to you, make sure you air it out!

u/Kendallsan · 10 pointsr/minimalism

A little more than the things others have suggested, but this is one of the most comfortable things I’ve ever slept on. It’s seriously amazingly comfy, plus folds up very easily.

Millard Tri Folding Mattress - $80
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W67PJ4M

Bought off a recommendation in this sub. I originally went with the REI self inflating sleeping pad and was tossing and turning at night. The Millard tri fold has been great so far.

u/ppoppers · 5 pointsr/LittleRock

For around the same price you can get a nice memory foam mattress sent to you via Amazon. My roommate and I both have [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0050JL4TC?cache=7d3a78c4c38336227bc8dc580e5d16d8&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1410152954&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1) and it's great.

u/_jeth · 4 pointsr/madisonwi

If you or anyone else is open to trying a memory foam/gel mattress without the Tempurpedic brand name I purchased this from Amazon last February and I am super happy with it. It was delivered straight to my door the next day (Amazon gave it one day shipping) and it was a simple matter of getting the box upstairs, pulling the mattress out and laying it on the boxspring, unwrapping it, and then letting it rise naturally while we were at work for the day.

I also looked at Tempurpedic but I couldn't pass up trying out a mattress that ran less than $500. I don't regret my choice. If you don't already have a box spring, any furniture store will well you one for $99.

I got a Zinus off Amazon after mentioning that I was planning on getting an Endy to a friend. I have the 12" thick King and it's been amazing, probably the best mattress I've had definitely the best value mattress I've had. Almost no motion transfer with someone else in the bed, right on my taste for the soft/firm balance.

I did notice while I was planning towards buying one that pricing fluctuated by about $50 every 10 days or so. Seems the mean pricing is about $475 so wait a bit and it will get there.

I slept on one of these for a while and found it comfortable. When it's folded up, it's not quite firm enough to sit on but you can lounge on, back against the wall, or use it as a footrest with a chair.

As far as a desk, have you looked at something like this? I have no idea about the quality of that (this particular one looks kinda cheap in my opinion) and depending how handy you are, you might be able to make that yourself as well.

u/Stone-Bear · 3 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I bought a 8" foam mattress from Amazon over a year ago. I was skeptical, but for ~$200, it was worth it (and I needed a Mattress, ASAP).

They sent it to me vacuum sealed, which was amazing! You opened the box and opened the seal.. and there it goes! It sucked up all the air, and filled out super fast.

Its an amazing mattress. Still as firm as the day I bought it. Seriously, this is the best mattress I've ever slept on and it was delivered to my door! And you can't beat the price.

IMO, worth it from Amazon. The foam mattresses are wonderful (Can't comment on spring, but I highly suggest the foam mattresses, they are much more firm than you think!). My only suggestion is make sure you buy a cover for your mattress!

u/jermany755 · 3 pointsr/malelivingspace

Yep. mattressunderground and sleeplikethedead were my go-to resources for researching mattresses. I bought this about a month ago and have been very happy so far.

Furthermore, if you can find the room and really like comfort (I can't sleep in just a sleeping bag), try this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00W67PJ4M/ . It first snuggly and is supremely comfortable vs the hard plastic floor.

This mattress from Amazon is firm and has pretty good reviews. If it ends up being too firm you can always put a topper on it and still be under $500. Get some good pillows with the extra savings! Sleep like a king

I got that. Same thing as a sleep number/tempurdic stuff. Ever since I got this bed I have no hip pain or shoulder pain. I have been spoiled by this bed. Totally worth it and it's cheap.

u/theWishyWasher · 2 pointsr/subaruoutback

Just got an outback myself so I spent the last week looking for options. I have a friend that car camps and uses a 4" foam mattress topper so I know that can work. I saw the tri-fold mattress below on sale and it looks like it can compress so I'm giving that a try. I liked it because it seemed easier to stow than a topper you'd have to roll up. If it doesn't end up meeting my needs I'll return it and go with a mattress topper.

Milliard Tri Folding Mattress, with Ultra Soft Removable Cover and Non-Slip Bottom, (Single 75" x 25") Better Than An Air Mattress https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W67PJ4M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZgIhAb99C9B9T

Edit: just got the tri-fold delivered. Looks like it'll take up more space if that's an issue for you. The pictures looked like it could compress because it's shipped vacuum packed. You should be able to stack stuff on it no problem but I think a stuff sack is out of the question. Also a little heavy but seems so damn comfy.

u/tashabaker11 · 2 pointsr/cosleeping

We bought a fold up bed online. It folds into a little couch/seat or pulls out into a bed. Our toddler is still sleeping in our bed, so we have this mattress in his room and can pull it out whenever the mood strikes. When we don't use it as a bed, it's folded and we use it for a comfy place to sit and play with my toddler. It's also super handy when someone isn't feeling well, because we will pull it into the living room and we can lay down together and watch movies :)

Milliard Tri Folding Mattress Full, with Ultra Soft Removable Cover and Non-Slip Bottom (Full) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00W67PAPK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jR.zDb1QXHN0Q

You can also get one's that will fold into a proper looking "couch" with a back rest.

Hope you guys find something that works for you!

u/Hectorial_geographic · 2 pointsr/vandwellers

I'll have to get you exact dimensions, but mine sits a little under two feet high and we are using a tri-fold mattress: Milliard Tri Folding Mattress Full, with Ultra Soft Removable Cover and Non-Slip Bottom (Full) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W67PAPK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uDJxzbKNXANCS

This fits snug across the width, from window to window, and folds away nicely to not make you have a bed that is permanently in the way or immediately accessible to the dogs after a muddy walk.

I got this memory foam mattress for my student athlete kiddo who plays a contact sport and is always sore. It has been a winner so far. We got it for $299 in a queen in August but they are currently sold out. Maybe contact the seller and see if they will be getting any more in.

We got this one for a day bed. Depending on if you get a full or twin or a 6" or 8" you can stay in the neighborhood of $100. It's firm, but comfortable, good for naps.

u/illgetup_andflyaway · 2 pointsr/Charlotte

I have experience with amazon. We bought this memory foam a little over a year ago. Absolutely love it! still wake up regularly talking about how amazing it is. It is a bit of a dice roll, but we had a friend who had purchased that exact one and we were able to test it out at their place. I definitely recommend

u/TheArts · 2 pointsr/vandwellers

What is your budget?
So I have the 12 inch version of this for my full time apartment bed and love it, cured my back issues, Zinus Ultima Comfort Memory Foam 6 Inch Mattress, Full
the 6 inch is only 100 bucks. I'd imagine you could roll it up when not in use.

Last road trip I slept on a wooden board, with cheap foam, and just camping inflatable 2 inch mats. My back was a mess after 2 weeks on the road.

If it was me and I did it all over again, I'd toss 100 bucks at something decent.

u/Jess_Babblin · 2 pointsr/breakingmom

I was amazed how full it got when we took it out of the packaging. But it really is comfortable. You'd never know it came rolled in a box. But it was under $100. I figured if she has accidents on it, I wouldn't be too upset if we had to toss it in a few years.
10/10 would buy again. It's not worth a fight with MIL over. Brush her off.'

Edit: This DreamFoam mattress is the one we bought. It's been almost a year and it's still in fine shape.

u/i_lack_imagination · 2 pointsr/dataisbeautiful

I just bought a 8" Zinus Memory Foam mattress 2 weeks ago and I find it a little hard to describe the firmness of it. I was previously using a box spring mattress that I think was fairly firm. I don't have a lot of experience with other mattresses so I can't say with a high degree of confidence, but from my limited experience it seemed to be firmer than average. I saw quite a few reviews of this and a few similar memory foam mattresses of people being surprised at how firm they were, but generally those people seemed to indicate they are used to and prefer softer mattresses.

The best way I can describe my experience so far with this new memory foam mattress is that it feels firm when laying down, but when you apply a lot of weight in concentrated areas it gives a bit more. It seems that can be where these can be deceptive and some might get the idea that they're softer than they are. I haven't had it long enough to really give a good review. I can say that my first week or so sleeping on it was quite rough, I was feeling a lot of aches, but I think recently it's been improving and it might just be normal for the body to adjust to sleeping on something different after being used to sleeping on a different mattress for ~15 years.

This is the one I bought.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L9U4PK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm only 155lbs but I think a lot of people suggest getting the 10" or thicker if you're over 200lbs or something along those lines.

u/nothingbutt · 2 pointsr/Frugal

It depends on what you consider cheap but I think this is the best bang for the buck on mattresses:

Sleep Innovations 12" - $450 for queen-sized from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37LA

The price is about $50 higher than normal -- usually, the queen is around $400. I've bought two of them so far and am totally happy with them.

u/drk_etta · 2 pointsr/promos
u/Solarisphere · 2 pointsr/overlanding

The mattress is a Milliard Tri Folding Mattress I purchased on Amazon.ca. I wouldn't use it as a bed indoors but it seems like it will be comfortable enough to sleep on when I'm camping in the truck. We could have used an air mattress but I want to do some winter camping and I figure this will be a lot warmer.

We've got very limited space to store it when it's not in use so the tri-folding setup was key.

u/teaninja · 2 pointsr/Frugal

I have had my mattress on the floor for years and I love it. Sleeping on height is weird for me at this point. My partner sleeps on the carpeted floor because his back gives him issues. Point being, sleeping on the floor isn't necessarily bad. This is the mattress I have http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DRR8G4U/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1421632456&sr=8-1&dpPl=1&dpID=215u5v96igL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SX200_QL40

The thing about beds is, its a matter is what works for you. Try a few out and take your time because most are non returnable. The one I have is one of the few beds that are returnable if it doesn't work for you.

u/Iryasori · 2 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

Is this for daily/permanent use?

I have the Friheten in my apartment since I have a small studio and it's not too bad as a sofa, although definitely not as comfy as other sofas, but that's generally how most IKEA couches are anyway.

As for a sleeper, it's incredibly firm. If you like to sleep in the middle of the bed, you'll be right on top of the gap between the ottoman and the seat. I can sleep on pretty much anything but I still find it difficult to sleep on. You can make it more comfortable by layering blankets or a comforter on the sleeper and lay on that, or you can buy a mattress topper (recommended). I use [this folding mattress] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W67PEY2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it feels like a normal and comfortable bed, but it means it takes a bit longer to set up for bedtime. They also have a 4 inch one as well.

If you really need the extra storage, love chaises (currently sitting on mine with my feet over the arm rest), and don't mind sleeping possibly uncomfortably or purchasing a mattress topper, I'd say it's a great buy. Also, it's not a long-term couch or even aesthetically very pleasing, so that's something to consider.

Sorry for the long review, but I've had this thing for a few months now and use it daily, sometimes even multiple people use it.

u/vonplyr · 2 pointsr/priusdwellers

This what I use. It's the perfect size for my Prius v. I actually use two to make it extra comfy, but I'm sure many will be fine with just one. It being foldable might be a plus for you.

This matresse from Amazon has 5 stars rating, cost 400$ USD and has a 30 night sleep trial. Good deal IMO.

u/DavesNotThere · 1 pointr/ChronicPain

I have chronic low back pain. My favorite was an old fashioned water bed with a softer mattress. My wife hated it for a few reasons so we got rid of it.

Now we have a pillowtop mattress with gel in it. "Ultimate Dreams P/T Gel" by Brooklyn Bedding, available on amazon and made in Phoenix. I think it's called DreamFoam Bedding on amazon. If you contact Chuck (like the listings say, he's very helpful).

EDIT: I searched and searched for a good bed and a fair price, these guys were the ones.

u/yayhooraywoo · 1 pointr/personalfinance

Take a look at this one. It says Twin, not Twin XL, but if you look at the dimensions it says it is 83 inches long. Twin XL is 80 inches long, so this should work for you. I also looked on Amazon for the separate items, and many of those also say twin while they are 83 inches long.

This is the one I used. I made the top on three pieces with the middle screwed down and the outer two on piano hinges so I could lift up the edges to access the space below.

The 4" mattress sounds thin but it is super comfortable, the whole family of three slept on there last weekend and no issues. I worried that I might wish I got the 6 inch thick one, but I'm glad I didn't and kept the extra headroom instead.

u/obscuredreference · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

I’m so sorry for the late reply. I didn’t see the question until now.

Ours is this one.. It’s firm but comfy. I love it so much that I wouldn’t want to go back to a normal, softer, real mattress.

It also easily folds down in an instant even with the fitted sheet on so it’s super convenient to just put aside when you need more space or to clean up the room.

I just read about mattresses for like 10 hours a few weeks ago because I was looking for one as well. You will find this mattress highly recommended here on reddit as well as Amazon. I went for the 10" version and have only slept on it like 5 nights so the verdict is still out!

First of all, you really don't want to spend a great deal on time on an air mattress. Here's the absolute cheapest, semi decent looking bedframe I could find: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JGCBH8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_nwHQDbXYFMMMD. Here's a cheap matress with decent reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005G5RZIY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_uAHQDbG5RQ2R3. Here's a cheap set of sheets/comforter: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Indigo-Plaid-8-Piece-Bed-in-a-Bag-Bedding-Comforter-Set-Full/49909351?selected=true

Nest, throw away the bottles/cans. Eventually, you'll want better quality stuff. But this should last until you're on your feet. If this is your first apartment, the next sets of items you'll need are cleaning supplies, plates and utensils, a plunger, towels, cooking supplies, a first aid kit, and a tool set. After, go to IKEA and pick out a plant and some cheap decorations, a bookshelf for your books, and a rug.

I don't know about the hybrid, but I have the memory foam version of this brand. I have back and neck issues as well so I have and love a firm mattress

If you need to return, you'll probably want to use the UPS pick up option. Dunno about getting it back in the box tho (especially bc mine came rolled up).

u/Personality404 · 1 pointr/SmallHome

I have an older bed with approximately 12" of storage underneath. The box springs are old but I got a new mattress that's surprisingly comfortable and cheap.
Under the bed I store my out of season clothes and bedding.

I bought this mattress a month and a half ago and I love it! It's super comfortable.

u/SemenInYourStool · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Mine was pretty pricey. I bought this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0092UCN0Y

You can definitely find cheaper ones though, like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/LUCID-Inch-Plush-Memory-Mattress/dp/B0088YV7XY

I know you want to be able to move things easily and for free, and I was in the exact same boat, but seriously... the $50 you'd pay someone to move your bed for you will be worth it compared to sleeping on a futon pad. A nice thick memory foam mattress is so, so, so very worth it.

EDIT: This one's only $220 : https://www.amazon.com/LUCID-Inch-Memory-Foam-Mattress/dp/B00474X5DO/ref=sr_1_7?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1481050459&sr=1-7&keywords=memory+foam+mattress

I bought one if these for my rav4, it’s amazing. Just make sure you have adequate ventilation. It would be gross if it got wet.

Under "Product Details", see "Origin". You'll see its made is china, and if you looked further down, you'll see that another person confirmed that in fact it is made in china. So either PG (the guy that answered) got a different mattress or he is a mole

*edit: Keep in mind that some companies will import the core of the mattress and just put it together in the US to claim its from here.

u/CWinthrop · 1 pointr/vandwellers

I'm seriously considering this with a custom sliding frame for mine.

u/nandosman · 1 pointr/IKEA

I wanted something like this. I got that one 2 days ago, and it was fantastic, huge 6 inch tall and very comfy, but it was almost 2 inches too wide for the daybed.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried something like that and can confirm it fits properly.

u/wweezzee · 1 pointr/Frugal

Yep. I have one of these that I bought almost 2 years ago, as I just graduated college was poor, and had an Amazon gift card.

I got this one:

http://www.amazon.com/LinenSpa-Triple-Layer-Mattress-25-Year-Warranty/dp/B0050JL4TC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373573691&sr=8-1&keywords=lucid+12

I have no complaints except, I might go for the 10" or the 8", as the 12" is just too big and regular sheets struggle to fit it. Its too thick and I suspect the 10" would be the perfect size, but the 8" would probably work fine too.

No complaints about comfort, smell, wear after use, or anything like that. I would purchase again in a thinner model, even now that I have money saved up.

www.themattressunderground.com is a fabulous resource for mattress buying. Spoiler alert: The mattress industry mostly wants to screw you. Buy independent/factory direct, almost never name brands.

Here's a specific guide to buying based on budget. A sub $500 budget probably means a "throwaway" mattress, which doesn't mean you can't find something comfortable and supportive, only that it's unlikely to last more than a few years.
http://www.themattressunderground.com/mattresses/style-preferences-and-statistics/your-budget.html

Here's an excellent value mattress, but $600 for a queen.

Here's an inexpensive frame that would be good for a foam or latex mattress.

Edit: I forgot: I'd stay the hell away from used mattresses. One particular reason: Bed bugs are Satan in bug form, and there is no way to be sure a used mattress doesn't have them.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Frugal

I'm interested in other's thoughts on Sleep Innovations mattresses as well. I'm saving up for this one right now...

You can get a queen memory foam mattress on Amazon for just over $200. I have one and it's great.

u/melanieeex3 · 1 pointr/Frugal

I just bought this mattress off Amazon after someone here recommended it:
http://www.amazon.com/Best-Price-Mattress-8-Inch-Memory/dp/B00GTCAY04

I slept on it for the first time last night and it was sooooo comfy. I was very skeptical at first since it's so cheap, but I'm happy I bought it. I have a twin so I can't tell you for sure that the queen is big enough. However, the twin was exactly the right size.

I feel as if I am a pretty light weight person that I don't even sink into my memory foam or even my 4" topper. It is definitely memory foam, both the mattress and the toper. the topper is like this http://www.samsclub.com/sams/4in-topper-twin-dreamfinity/prod14480238.ip?xid=plp:product:1:1 and the cover is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EFBD0ZW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and the mattress itself is this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005A4OQ9W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the room definitely isn't cold so i dont think that is causing the issue. i just want to feel like I sink into the bed more, it all feels very firm to me.

u/necbone · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

I got a $300-400 king from amazon, it's held up for 6 months so far. Researched it and everyone was pretty happy with it. If it lasts more than a couple years, I'm good.

I bought this brand mattress about 18 months ago for a guest bedroom and everyone seems to love it. It's not a TempurPedic but I've slept on it and it is very comfortable. It also came with free shipping courtesy of Amazon Prime. You really can't beat the price.

I double wrap all of my mattresses in water proof/bed bug proof covers and double the sheets but I bet most people don't. You're really playing the lottery buying a used mattress and that isn't something I would be willing to gamble with, not when you can get a brand new mattress for a couple hundred bucks.

There is also a company called Mattress Firm and they occasionally have $50 for $200 Groupon's. Basically, you pay $50 and get a $200 voucher in the store. You can do the same haggling that you would otherwise but take $200 off the sticker price.

u/atchemey · 1 pointr/CFB

This is the most amazing mattress you can get.

It's only $270, and I sleep so well that getting up is really hard. A friend recommended it, and it's perfect.

u/BukkakeCocktail · 1 pointr/Dallas

They have them much cheaper too. I bought a full for $150.

I have this one (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00W67PEY2/ref=psdcmw_3732981_t1_B00NB2NOJI?th=1&psc=1) as my primary bed at home and I love it! The two things I'd say you should know about them is that you want to find a way to keep the foldable sections pushed together, otherwise they slide apart a little bit (not awful just slightly less comfy) and this may be obvious but they do sink down and take on the shape of basically anything underneath them. So if the space under it is kinda lumpy I'd just buy a 4x8 piece of quarter inch MDF at a hardware store and put it underneath the mattress.

u/garster25 · 1 pointr/TeardropTrailers

For the tiny trailer I build I got a memory foam mattress from Amazon and a regular gray cover

We love it! I wanted to fit a queen size but messed up the build dimensions.

This is what I got, but look around yourself. IKEA might be an option too.

Mattress https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L9U4PK/

Cover (they had a gray one 2 years ago) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y3TJG91/

I got a gray cover to hide any dirt, and it is washable, protecting the mattress.

u/Mctittles · 1 pointr/oculus

On the floor. It's a Japanese style futon and doesn't have springs in it but many layers of cotton. If you can see from the pics it's a lot thinner and could probably feel the rungs in that chair. Would be firmer than an American spring futon but I actually enjoy the firmness better.

Some people get one of these to put under it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KIGJQ6K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as it's basically just a piece of Japanese floor and has more give than hard wood. I tried it but ended up returning as didn't notice much (I'm on carpet anyway).

Oh and if anyone is reading this and thinking of going this route just a heads up. You CANNOT wash this futon. To clean you beat it and sit out in the sun and let the magic of sunshine clean any odors or bacteria :).

I got this one and it's surprisingly good. Great for the price, but I should have gone w/ the 12. If I had gone wit the 12 inch I would have kept it until it wore out.

This

My wife & I bought it two years ago. It feels just as good as the $3500 mattress we replaced. At less than $600, we've bought one for both sets of out parents, too.

And with Amazon Prime, you can have it tomorrow for an extra $4.

I recently bought a new bed, and I looked through this site to determine what would be best. I ended up going with a latex mattress. I'm pretty satisfied with it. The frame depends on what type of mattress you're getting. You'll probably want a frame and box spring for an innerspring mattress, but everything else just needs a foundation. Also, be sure to get a waterproof mattress cover to protect your mattress.

What I went with, for reference:

https://amzn.com/B002AQNXR4

https://amzn.com/B0051AQXZK

https://amzn.com/B00M169YVC

P.S., buy at least a queen if you're going to have another person in your bed. A double will be pretty cramped.

>That mattress that retails for $2,000 probably wholesales for about $1,000, and the cost to manufacture it was about $500.

Unless shipping and store fronts have gotten crazy expensive you are talking about a 40% profit at each step. Retail products normally have a profit margin of around 5%.

If your prices were accurate ($500 manufacture cost, $1000 wholesale price) then no one would be able to manufacture and sell a bed for under $500 and stay in business... but that isn't the case at all. Plenty of beds sell for those prices and the companies have been around for decades. This is like arguing that prescription glasses cost $200 to manufacture and that you can't buy high quality ones for $60.

these beds are rated extremely well and have been on the market for years (the company, Brooklyn Bedding, has been around since the 90s).

this article says differently than what you are saying, and is more in line with what I'm saying. They do seem to be saying I'm not 100% accurate in my assessment of prices but that is to be expected. Note that they source their information throughout the article.

this company has been around since 2012 and pretty much agrees with me.
