You madame, are genius! I'm getting an IUD later this month, but have been period-less on Depo for YEARS. Just ordered a pack to help ease my mind when I question if I'm experiencing side effects from my birth control or if they're actually symptoms... Bless you ❤

If you want to regularly want to check that you’re not pregnant I highly recommend ordering “internet cheapies” from Amazon. They work just as well for a fraction of the cost. These are the ones I got.

Tape your heels! Stickiest ever.

If you already have blisters, put one of those small circular bandaids over it first, then tape over that so it doesn't rip it off when you remove.

I can't believe this hasn't already been mentioned, but for those that don't want to pay the ridiculous price of the Liberator but also don't want to make their own, there's this. It works just as well as a liberator, costs way less, bonus utility when you have to sleep propped up for some reason.

There are many fidget toys on amazon that are ostensibly for children, but if you look in the reviews are used considerably by adults to help with anxiety and trichotillomania (hair pulling).

My SO doesn't deal with trich but does love his Tangle for keeping his hands busy. Funny story: I got it for him originally because he was fidgeting with a suction cup bluetooth speaker and stuck it to his forehead, leaving a welt. Twice.

If you don't like the looks of this one, the search term "fidget toy" seems to work well in general.

u/DancingHeel · 24 pointsr/AskTrollX

These are the ones I have. I have a total of 18. I know that it can be hard or embarrassing to buy one, and sometimes it gets expensive. No matter what situation you're in, I'd love to help out!

I believe it’s this scale that goes up to 700 pounds. Judging by the customer review pics, it doesn’t seem possible that it’s wide enough to accommodate amber. conspiracy situation I believe that Becky is stepping on the scale holding on to some weights

u/thisisallme · 21 pointsr/1200isplenty

This is the link of the scale I got. It's fairly cheap. So far, I like it. You can customize the weight settings, goals, stuff like that. I also think it can interface with things like the Apple fitness and Samsung health. But I'm happy with it for the price and ease of use.

Right before I began this way of eating, I purchased this scale from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MQ8A5UY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is 68 dollars and it speaks which was nice when I first started using it because my belly made it difficult to see the numbers.

u/rharmelink · 19 pointsr/ketoscience

I was there. I was about 650 pounds in December -- bariatric beds gave widely varying weights: Error (meaning over 700), 650, and 615. I know I was quite a bit more than the 600 I weighed on a doctor's scale several years ago, so I just used the 650 as my starting weight (my highest?).

But I'm 6'5", so I am a lot taller than most people on the show, and carried the weight differently.

I finally found a good bariatric scale at Amazon that goes up to 700 pounds. It's a wide one so it can handle my wider stance and I don't lose my balance while on it. They didn't have such a scale a year or so ago when I looked, so it was a great (and timely) find.

Down 140 pounds so far, and haven't needed insulin at all this year. Last year, I was using a third of a vial every day. I've spent nearly $10K on insulin over the past 6 years. Now, A1C has dropped to 5.4 and blood sugars are normal.

u/mudcelt · 19 pointsr/sex

what about a sex wedge? There are some cheap varriations on Amazon, like this one. It might help her open her hips.

This might not work for her, but what I thought of when I read your post was restorative yoga, which is basically about putting your body into poses that are supported by blankets and pillows and allowing yourself to open up your hips and shoulders. Obviously I don't know anything about her level of mobility, but if you think she could benefit from it, maybe this book and a commitment to help her with it might increase your intimacy AND help her become more flexible and comfortable.

We have a guide to OPKs in our sidebar that covers a lot of questions about how to use them. A lot of us here like wondfos because they are cheap as hell and do the trick. Once the test line (closer to the dipping end) is darker than the control, that's a positive.

u/Calliber50 · 14 pointsr/LifeProTips

Directions unclear. Where do I put my penis?

u/MaotheMao21 · 13 pointsr/childfree

I have Nexplanon, too, and am adamantly child free. I have a fund for if I ever fall pregnant.

I also bulk buy these tests once a year and take one every month-ish. They're super cheap and just as effective as the $10 ones. Also, none of the in person awkwardness.

u/Miroet · 12 pointsr/TryingForABaby

OPKs

OPKS (Ovulation Prediction Kits) are used to let you know when your body is producing more LH. LH ramps up in the body shortly before you ovulate. These kits are often a dip test that you use with urine you have held for 3-4 hours. Unlike pregnancy tests, these strips are only positive when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. Having a +OPK does not guarantee you are going to ovulate. Instead, it says that if you do ovulate it will be within the next 12-48 hours. Though some people ovulate as soon as 6 hours, and some as late as 72, most people ovulate 12-48 hours after a positive OPK. Many women do not surge until the afternoon, so it is a good idea to test in the morning and early evening when you are getting close to the day you normally ovulate. Many of our users purchase bulk packs of Wondfo Ovulation Prediction Kits as a cost effective and reliable way to test during the cycle. Here is how to tell if your Wondfos are counterfeit. Sometimes your body gears up to ovulate and then decides to abort the ovulation for whatever reason. If that happens you will have a positive opk, however, if you keep using them you will find another positive opk in a week or two. If you are not expecting this, it may seem like you are late for your period, when really you are not.

u/SirThumbPick · 12 pointsr/childfree

Close, but it's actually this one, which is sensitive to ~250 thousand, which in the medical literature indicates a "very low chance" of causing pregnancy. I'm going in for a lab test in 3 weeks, but this is FDA approved as an alternative to lab tests and highly recommended in the journals I read, so it's just an extra layer of reassurance.

u/Elgiard · 12 pointsr/My600lbLife

You can get scales that read up to a thousand pounds for less than $300. I realize that this cuts deeply into the food budget so isn't an option for most of the people who would be on the show.

https://www.amazon.com/My-Weigh-SCMXL700T-Talking-Bathroom/dp/B00MQ8A5UY/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=1000+pound+scale&qid=1574274806&sr=8-6

This seems to be the best deal going right now and would work for most normal morbidly obese people. Not like a James K. or a Sean, but most.

u/outbound · 11 pointsr/Ultralight

Ibuprofen, Benadryl, 3M Micropore Surgical Tape, Leukotape, and antiseptic. I bring about a dozen each of the meds, about 2' each of the surgical tape and Leukotape (wrapped around a plastic straw and cut to length), and about 2oz of re-bottled antiseptic.

For cuts/scrapes/gashes, I clean 'em out with antiseptic and apply the surgical tape right on top. The tape will hold a deep gash together while it heals, it protects the wound and still lets it breathe, and I maintain (almost) full movement of the injured bodypart ('specially fingers); the tape stays put for a good two days with the occasional dunking in water.

For blisters, I use antiseptic + Leukotape. Leukotape stays stuck and protects better than the surgical tape, but it doesn't breathe well which is why I don't like to use it on cuts/gashes. To be honest, I don't get blisters often (I 100% credit darn tough socks) and I tend to use Leukotape mostly as a ducttape replacement to fix holes in my tent/pack.

u/natalienaught · 11 pointsr/asktransgender

>decrease my BMI (for a more supple frame)

Oh gosh, please don't focus on BMI, it's just a terrible measurement, especially for this population.

BMI only considers body mass (kgs), and conveys nothing about body composition (e.g., % body fat & % lean mass).

As such, the same BMI value can represent many different body shapes, and many different states of metabolic health!

BMI has a place in epidemiology, but body composition is what individuals should focus on, and is easy to track these days. Healthy cis-females on average have significantly more body fat than their healthy cis-male counterparts, and progress in this area for MtF folks won't be reflected well by BMI.

Withdrawal bleeding from cessation of the contraceptive pill doesn’t mean anything, it’s not a true period. If it stresses you out buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/ClinicalGuard%C2%AE-Pregnancy-Test-Strips-Individually-Sealed/dp/B007VT30C8 and test yourself every month. Using oral contraceptives will not mask the hormones that the tests detect. There’s no medical reason not to run the pill packs together, aside from how practical it is to not have to deal with bleeding, running packs together it also increases the efficacy (therefore reducing the failure rate).

u/TricksR4Hookers · 9 pointsr/bouldering

Lots of good things to be said about Leukotape.

I've also heard good things about Mueller tape.

You don't get to choose the clinic, usually. When I have taken piss tests it's either administered at the employer's site or I've been sent to a lab of their choosing like Quest Diagnostics.

Seriously, buy some THC test strips and check your whiz every couple of days. They have the same 50 ng/mL cutoffs that pre-employment tests do. Practice loading up on Gatorade - not water - and see if that can push you under the line. Your low bodyfat will help you get clear faster.

I use concentrates daily too. My personal time-to-clean is about 12-14 days from daily use. Good luck.

"worth it" is relative - you can get a 50 pack off amazon for practically the same price as a 2 pack at the store, definitely worth it at that price point. Last cycle was my first time using them and I started on day 8, tested daily for over a week, sometimes twice a day because why not, definitely nice having more info.

I just have one like this which I think I actually stole from my parents...

u/tehgreyghost · 7 pointsr/leagueoflegends

You just rinse but don't use it on the ACTUAL bits. Since you are using a chemical to dissolve the hair you do need to be careful.

Since the anus, and especially your actual genital skin, is rather sensitive you want to not hurt your self. Spread the nair in a thin is layer across the hair you wish to remove. Though the backdoor is a bit more resilient and it wont be bad if you get a little on the old rusty sheriffs badge . So it's more the front bits to worry about. As long as you are careful and follow the instructions exactly it's all good! :)

EDIT: Make sure to either buy an applicator or get some nitrile gloves to protect your hands. Also I have heard you can use it on your actual junk if you get the sensitive areas stuff, just don't leave it on for longer than instructed.

Also IF you can trim the hair first it helps as it makes the Nair not have to eat through so much hair.

I'm lucky enough to keep my guitar in my office so I get about 45 minutes of practice each day on my lunch break.

There's a great app called Functional Ear Trainer that is really helpful for training your ear to better identify intervals. I highly recommend it.

You could try one of those finger exercisers (like this one). I'm not certain how well they actually work, but I've seen a decent amount of people who like them.

It's already been said, but you can never go wrong with listening to music. Try exploring bands and genres you don't normally listen to.

Lots of other ideas here.

For lulz, click here - 1 star reviews.

>Like several others who have complained, my body fat percentage increased by 7% on this scale. Because my fat % is now so much higher than on my other scale, my water weight is also off.

>I have had to return 2 of these scales in a row (black model) because they are defective. They add 25-40 pounds to the actual weight

>No matter WHEN I step on the scale (morning or evening) my weight stays the same. This is just not possible. I followed the instructions to a "T" when setting this up.

>Thought it'd be cool, especially with the hydration and body fat measurements, but it doesn't give me an accurate reading of my weight. I checked my weight with a scale at the gym and my old one, and this one is about 5 pounds off for me and about 9 pounds off for my husband. What's the point?

I bought this when I was almost 350, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MQ8A5UY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its rated up to a whopping 700. Works great. It is also a wide scale to you can spread your feet out a bit.

u/kpendolino · 6 pointsr/TryingForABaby

I've been using this one for about two weeks now, and really like it. The backlight makes it easy to operate in the dark. It dims during the measurement, then brightens again when the measurement is done. Stores date and time of 60 measurements, and the alarm feature is really handy.

I had been using my phone with an alarm about half an hour before my normal wake-up time (because it had to be different for me to remember the new habit), but even then, it was difficult to remember and sometimes difficult to find the thermometer. With this one, I've got the alarm feature enabled, which makes it both super clear why I'm being awoken and super easy to find the darn thing.

I was skeptical about buying this gadget but am now glad I bought it. My doctor put me on a medication that put alot of weight on me. I am now morbidly obese at almost 300 lbs. I went from being the best arse wipper to not even being able to reach my arse. I tried all kinds of funny maneuvers in an attempt to wipe myself and threw my back out in the process. lol 😂Thats when I finally broke down and bought this thing. My oh my, my only regret was that I didnt buy it sooner. It will even spread open the biggest arse cheeks in all of mankind! It also has a release button and comes with a private pouch. If you have a medical dissabilty or mobilty issue, or are just plain fat like me, this will work for you.

Whatever works best for him; I would always wash my shoulders with my hands in the shower, so if he can get some cleanser on a soft brush in the shower that will make it easier to rinse off. I just found this on Amazon and it looks like it would be a nice gentle scrubber. Apparently they even make things to help you put lotion on your back!

By "don't overdo it," I mean the exfoliants I linked to are pretty high-strength, so even though it's his back and not his face you'll want to take care not to do it too often or it will probably dry out his skin and make some things worse (I can't say how often would be best, it will just be trial and error). Paula's Choice sells more gentle, lower-concentration exfoliants if the ones I linked are too hard on his skin.

I'd suggest picking up a home test kit and using that as your metric, just because it is entirely objective so you can't cheat yourself. 50ng/ml is the standard for employment drug tests, but you may want to go even lower to 20ng/ml for the "get my shit together break" as the longer you stay away the more you'll experience being sober.

To get a (very rough) idea of how long this will take, try this online calculator:

https://calculator.marijuanacentral.com/

20ng/ml (more sensitive) test kit, may want to buy 2 of them (4 total test strips):

I agree. I personally have been smoking again since my initial post here months ago. Buy at-home drug tests, the ones I used are: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DVPS4IQ/

My theory is to let your body completely reset itself and rid the toxic amounts of thc and other cannabinoids stored in your system and fat. During this time, I completely changed my diet to fruits, veggies, deli meats and meals that actually had to be cooked, smaller portion sizes, making sure not to eat right before bed, and WAY less snack type foods. I started going to planet fitness even just for 30 minutes at a time a few times a week. In my case it took 60 days till the tests started showing negative, and I waited a few more days after till I finally took a hit of flower a few hours before bed. I was nervous as hell smoking again because I didn't know what would happen when I woke up in the morning. I must say that I got SO high off one hit it was ridiculous, it was like I never smoked before lol. After that, I said to myself I would only take like a rip every few days, but there was never a gap in days since then. I smoke whenever I feel like now, and I only smoke flower now no dabs or carts. It has only been about 5 months but so far so good. I have not had any abdominal pains, or felt the urges for hot baths since.

My diet and exercise is pretty much back to shit again so I'm not sure if I am setting myself up for failure alongside all the thc intake. I stay pretty active at work but I also do a lot of computer work as well, so I sit a lot. only time will tell.

Yo! It's been a ride this past week. I posted a while ago that I had a stress fracture in my foot from running. Well I went back to the doctor cause it still hurt and I was not ready for them to say "Well, if it hasn't healed yet you really shouldn't be on it. You need to be on crutches for two weeks. Then in a boot for two more". So. I live alone in an old house with stairs so crutches or a scooter are not great options. In the end, I got this thing that's basically a modern pegleg called the iWalk 2.0- I'd never seen anything like it before. It's hands free and can do stairs, so I can do most things, but obviously not as much as I want!

I manage to do maybe 4000 steps a day on the iWalk and can't really do much else for exercise without putting weight on my foot, so while I want to feel bad for myself and eat everything - I need to be super careful about what I eat cause I have no buffer! If you have super easy, low cal meals that require almost no dishes and no prep hit me up!

One more week on me pegleg, Mateys! Have a great one!

This dilemma awoke the sick curiousity within me. Apparently there are a lot of products to assist extremely overweight people and their toilet hygiene.

One product is called the "bottom buddy" which even comes with a convenient travel container. The reviews are rather sad but entertaining in a way. Here is a 1-star review left by someone: "Found this to be basically unuseable. Several attempts to use, eject, and then use again resulted in torn, dirty tissue and feces on the device itself. This may work for light cleaning, but I don't see how it can be useful for heavy duty clean ups."

I would use an AHA moisturizer with a back application tool used for sunscreen. Even though AHA maybe too harsh for your face, your back is a little less delicate. I would do a spot treatment first (like on your arm) to make sure there aren't adverse reations.

Speaking of sunscreen, always use sunscreen on that area. Or cover up with breathable fabrics. Sometimes, porque no los dos? (Sometimes, why not both?)

Whatever you do, do not get super aggressive and scrub aggressivly. Your skin, no matter where it is located, can only handle so much exfoliation.

Source: skateboarded down a hill on my leg, got a wicked injury (skinned all the way to the bone) and babied my leg to an almost 'no scar' situation about a year after healing.

BQ Favorite vacation was in 2010 when I took the kiddo to the Riviera Maya area of Mexico and we had a blast together. Or, maybe when I backpacked in the Rocky Mountains in my 20's.

Yesterday I was really good - kept my foot elevated, took short breaks from the lying on the couch to do stuff. I have one of these that I'm borrowing from a friend. It's made life way easier. I can cook food and do dishes and I'm not completely dependent on someone else for everything! (I still can't drive. Stupid stick shift car.) Oh, and I had a lovely little dinner/fun take my mind of things evening with B before he had to play softball.

Today

  • Work from home. I've already discovered that sitting at the desk must include propping my leg up on top of my desk. We'll see how this goes. I've got stuff I need to get done, though.
  • Exercise - do my z-health drills. Figure out how to do some more upper body stuff today.
  • Life - continue to behave. Don't try to walk on the damn foot (I tried yesterday. No go. I tested just a little bit of weight this morning. Still no.) Take breaks from sitting. Figure out how to pad the back of my knee so that knee crutch stops killing me there.

On Socks.

  • Cotton socks should be illegal, even for everyday use. They are good for making puppets, but should not go on feet.
  • Quality socks last 3-10x as long in everyday use, so factor that into the price. On the trail cotton socks will take forever to dry, will stink unless you disinfect them, and will turn "crispy" when air dried instead of machine dried.
  • Cotton socks have much higher friction against your skin than wool or poly blends, so you are much more likely to get blisters.
  • Cotton socks retain a ton of moisture, which increases the friction even more. Nobody would want to wear wet jeans, but somehow people put up with clammy, sticky cotton socks.
  • $30 for two pairs of Darn Tough socks (or something similar) is probably the best dollar spent per happiness gained of all the equipment you will bring.

As you know, or you would not be asking the question, fertility and birth defects become more and more of an issue as time ticks by. I would not let a well-meaning GP have you give it a good try for a year before you start to do anything to evaluate your fertility. You very well may want to discuss this with a fertility specialist from the start - determine if there are issues and get them addressed rather than delay it another year spinning your wheels.

There are also some electronic means1 or 2 to monitor ovulation. Or urine strips to determine when you have an LH surge which should mark ovulation.

u/HazMat68W · 3 pointsr/TFABChartStalkers

If you order the Wondfo OPKs on amazon, they really are affordable.

u/Silvercumulus · 3 pointsr/infertility

I'm going to third Taking Charge of Your Fertility and also the subreddit /r/tryingforababy has some great info.

I wish your doctor would have explained that to you more thoroughly because it takes a long time to get a handle on what this all means.

If you're still worried, ask for a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for testing. This is expensive and so I wouldn't consider it the first course of action.

Basal Body Temperature

Spend at least one cycle taking your temperature with a basal body thermometer (they're more sensitive to slight temperature fluctuations) at the same exact time, every morning before you even get out of bed. It's very important that it's done upon waking without getting up for at least 3 hours prior.

Chart this temperature for a whole cycle (if you ovulate, it wouldn't be unusual to see the temperature spike several tenths of a degree around days 14, 15, or sometimes even 16. It should then stay up for two weeks (use the first day it spiked as ovulation day and you can predict your period should come exactly 14 to 15 days afterward.) Were you to get pregnant it would have been due to sex three days before up to one day after ovulation day. If you're pregnant, your temperature will stay up past the two week mark. Then you would want to take a pregnancy test.

Some women chart their Basal Body Temperature, or BBT, on paper, but many use FertilityFriend.com. It's free and extremely helpful in visualizing what your cycle is up to.

Ovulation Predictor Kits, or LH Surge Predicting

Your LH hormone surge is what tells your body to release an egg. Test with urine (preferably after not drinking water for two hours before you test, which sucks) with these - most women use them and they're cheap and effective. Did I mention cheap? The directions are on the packaging but the test line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line. The best time of day to test is anywhere from 11am to 3pm. That's when your surge should show up in urine.

Cervical Mucus

Another great way to see if you're ovulating is to monitor your cervical mucus. Here's a great website explanation of the different consistencies you should watch for. Basically, if it's super slippery, stretchy and wet/clear, like egg whites, it's go time. Think of it this way: if you were a little sperm, what would be easiest to swim through? The stuff that's already like semen. Wet, slippery, etc. Not dry, not like hand lotion, and definitely not sticky/pasty/thick.

Finally,

If none of these signs point to ovulation, then I would see a specialist. If you seem to ovulate but still aren't getting pregnant, it could be your tubes or your uterus creating an issue. For all else, the ladies at /r/tryingforababy are great with answering questions, too.

Welcome! However, I don't want you here ;) - we don't want to be here either, so I hope you're going to be okay and won't need to come back to this sometimes sad place. Good luck.

Edit: Also, the good news is your age - the sooner you learn what's going on, the better, because your body is still so young!

u/Endust · 3 pointsr/daddit

Hi there from a gal trying to conceive! Please pick up some of these ovulation test strips for your wife. I was tracking my "expected ovulation" days via an app and wasn't getting pregnant after having sex during the expected fertile week. I started using the test strips and it showed me that I was ovulating a week later than normal. Your wife may be in the same boat and ovulating early or late. The strips will show her the exact day of the month when her eggs are released and when you should be getting busy. Hope this month is the month that you get the good news!

Felt exactly like period cramps for me, they just kept lasting on and on and I kept expecting my period to come and it just didn’t. After a week of that I took a test and it was negative. It continued for another week and then I tested again and it was positive.

Honestly pregnancy symptoms and PMS symptoms can be practically identical. The only way to know for sure is to pee on a stick.

Directly after your period ends can be a safe time for many people, but for those with shorter cycles 27 days and under it can also be the beginning of the fertile window for many women. So it’s doubtful you’d be able to predict it one way or the other at this time. I would suggest getting some pregnancy tests from the dollar store or order on amazon and test weekly until you get a positive or your period comes just to give you peace of mind.

(Amazon 25 pack for $8 ClinicalGuard® HCG Pregnancy Test Strips (Individually-Sealed, Pack of 25) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VT30C8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_oaKkDbM2EQ3JC)

u/Ephemeral_Halcyon · 3 pointsr/Nexplanon

For me personally it wouldn't be worth it to take another Plan B. Plan B is only about 95% effective anyway, and it's really only pumping progestin-only birth control into your body, which is what your Nexplanon is already doing in a pretty decent dose.

What I would do, however, is go to Amazon and buy some of their pregnancy tests. They sell packs of 25 for about $8. Super duper worth it for helping put your mind at ease, and they'll be useful to you in a few weeks when you should test anyway just to be safe.

u/Happyintexas · 3 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

I totally get it. I’m in Texas and it’s not super easy here either (but not NEARLY as restrictive as these morons are trying to make it now). There’s a ridiculously slim chance I’ll get pregnant again, but I still take a test every 3ish weeks, just in case. Especially because I skip my sugar pills to avoid having a period.
try these. 25 for under $10 I used them when actually TRYING to conceive and got a positive at like 9 days post ovulation, 4 days before I even missed a period. They’re what most doctors offices use.

u/orcazebra · 3 pointsr/abortion

I saw this in another thread recently and it's pretty awesome: https://www.amazon.com/ClinicalGuard®-Pregnancy-Test-Strips-Individually-Sealed/dp/B007VT30C8

"Pee stick" pregnancy tests work just fine, even at the dollar store. They use the same testing method as the clinical strips above (react to presence of hormone).

With any of these tests, there's basically no such thing as a false positive. If it's positive, you are definitely pregnant. If you get a negative result, you will want to wait a few days and test again - if you still haven't gotten your period. Also make sure you get plenty of urine on the stick to minimize the chances of false negative.

I'm not sure how it is in Canada, but if you do end up needing an abortion, most likely you will still need to have a test done with a positive result at the doctor's office. You may also be required to confirm the pregnancy with an ultrasound (the trans-vaginal kind; unfortunately the over-the-belly type isn't accurate enough in the early weeks of pregnancy).

You can do all of this at Planned Parenthood if you have anything like that up there. If you absolutely have no other options and are close enough to the border, I'm pretty sure PP doesn't have citizenship requirements. But you would probably want to call them to make sure. They generally provide services based on a sliding scale and should be able to give you a quote over the phone with your income information. I don't know for sure if they're able to provide services non-residents but at the very least, they won't judge you for calling and asking.

I'm really sorry to hear that your doctor is like that. I imagine it's also not that easy to switch providers. Best of luck to you and let us know if you need to talk or need any more advice.

I have done natural cycle (so timed with OPKs, no monitoring/meds) IUI using frozen donor sperm! In my case, it's because I'm a woman married to a woman.

I started off using the cheaper OPKs that you can get online (a lot of people here use Wondfo, I happened to use Easy@Home). Those are nice because you can buy a ton of them for not much money. A lot of people tend to use them twice a day, and I did at first as well, but I quickly learned that I pretty much can only catch my LH surge between 4-6pm. Most people tend to surge in the late afternoon-early evening, but that's not always the case.

If you aren't comfortable with trying to interpret the cheaper OPKs (determining if the test line is the same color or darker than the control), then I highly recommend the Clearblue Digital OPK (specifically NOT the advanced version - that one will give you a bigger fertile window range which is not important/helpful when timing IUI). When you are having your LH surge, you get a smiley face. Simple but definitely much more expensive.

I definitely recommend supplementing the OPKs with temping. You can use a Mabis or any other basal body thermometer to take your temperature daily first thing in the morning and then put those numbers into a TTC app such as Fertility Friend. It won't tell you when you're ovulating before it happens, but it will tell you after the fact and then you will know if your IUI timing was good or not.

Also, you should check out the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It will give you a lot more information on charting and helping you to pinpoint your ovulation day.

I hope that helps a bit! Please feel free to ask me any other questions 🙂

It is important to temp at roughly the same time every morning. I wake up at 5:30 for work and on days when I'm not working, I still set an alarm for 5:30 to temp, but I just keep the thermometer next to my phone so I can grab it without looking when I turn off the alarm, turn it on, temp, and just turn it off when it beeps. My thermometer has a memory function so I can check the temperature later when I'm more awake.

After nine years of temping for both contraception and TTC, I've decided that this is my favorite thermometer. It has a large display and a backlight so I can see the reading in the dark without turning on a lamp. It has a memory function AND a clock/date setting, so I can double-check that the temperature I'm reading is for the right day. It's large enough and the buttons are big enough that I can find it and push the right buttons to turn it on without looking at it. And you can easily replace the battery when it dies. I also feel like it doesn't "like" certain temperatures the way some thermometers do.

Unfortunately, it looks like my favorite thermometer has been discontinued. This one looks like the closest replacement, but I can't vouch for it personally.

u/brrlynne · 3 pointsr/TryingForABaby

This has been awesome. I set the alarm for 5, wakes me up--take the temp and fall back asleep. Sometimes I won't even input my temps into my apps right away and will do it when I go to bed because I can recall the past few days. Seems pretty darn accurate. Thanks! I used the FITINDEX scale and app that I purchased from amazon.

It is not the most absolutely accurate but it is consistent with itself to track changes over time.

I also forgot on my how I did it is to weigh yourself daily in the morning after using the restroom. Get in the habit of doing this. It’s hard to see the scale go up 3-6 pounds some mornings but you get good trends and your weigh in day isn’t a fluke that is high or low.

u/hp3333 · 3 pointsr/loseit

May 8th I weighed 186.2lbs and stepped onto this scale below. Last year I reached my highest weight at 196 lbs. I'm getting married in September and decided that the most important thing is to be healthy inside and out regardless of my size. So I started tracking my habits and moods with the app Daylio. The scale and the app track your weight. I saw that one soda would consistently make me add 1 lb. or my depressed days I would binge eat and gain weight. I've switched to diet soda or sparkling water and had to listen to pod casts and other people's stories. I decided that it was a privilege to feel hunger and that I can't eat my negative feelings away. If I deal with them that very second my binge urge goes away. I've made my calorie intake reflect my activity amount and on Friday I weighed 176.6 lbs.

I found a dress that made me look past my insecurities because I look beautiful. I went in looking for something with sleeves because I wanted to hide my arms. I bought a v-neck, sleeveless dress and didn't even consider hiding any part of myself in that dress.

You will have all kinds of feelings through this process. My experience taught me that you don't have to do the standard weight loss practices or wear the standard dress. Everyone has their own personal journey and you can use other people's experiences to try new things and find what will work for you.

I would think it would depend on how much, and how often, you were taking it. Perhaps your body composition as well since it would be fat soluble, and how diluted/concentrated your urine was.

Using a drug test from Amazon is a good idea, imho, because you can find out how much you can take before you test positive. They look pretty reasonably priced too. I found this 15 pack for $10.50 https://www.amazon.com/Easy-Home-Marijuana-Single-Panel/dp/B00DVPS4IQ/

u/chokemeoutdaddy · 2 pointsr/Drugtests
u/mythrowaway_halppp1 · 2 pointsr/drugtesthelp

Did you take those tests first thing in the morning or after a bunch of water?

I don't have experience with those $1 tests from the dollar store, but they may just not give a super bold line because they're cheap, but I'm not sure.

I only have experience with these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DVPS4IQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

And I did buy one of these Equate tests from Walmart.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-1-Panel-Home-Drug-Test/299295693

I did notice that the Equate brand from Walmart had a much fainter line than the Amazon ones, so If you can pass that one I would think that you will be fine.

Since you only have a day I would recommend buying one of those Walmart tests and trying it with a similiar void (pee) as the one you think you'll provide to Quest. On top of that I would buy some vitamin B-12 or a B complex (all the B vitamins), and take 1 or 2 pills atleast 3 hours before your test so you'll have some yellow color. And basically start drinking water early in the morning and pee a few times before the test, and then slow down a little before the test. Basically err on the side of dilluted so that atleast if they say it was too diluted you can just say that you accidently drank too much water and they should call you in for a retest. That should buy you a few days, or they may not have any issues with it.

I took one yesterday at quest and when I went in I was almost in pain because of how full my bladder was, I took B vitamins about 2 hours before and they didn't show up as much as I had hoped, which is why I say take it 3 hours before, but I said something like "I hope it's not too diluted" and she didn't seem to care.

Also, maybe while your out try and buy a test from walgreens or CVS, just so you can see if you pass those too.

Let us know what happens, and I hope it works out for you! I know it's stressful but you should should be fine. From what I've read a line is a line is a line, no matter how faint.

I did one of these, then about three weeks later did an actual lab test. Both indicated that I was clear. I still have one lab test, and one at home test. I'm doing the second lab test in a week or so (six weeks after the original one), and I'm saving the at home test for the 1 year mark. I also intend to do an at home test every 6 months or so for the first couple years, then yearly after that. Probably overkill, but unless my wife opts to get a tubal, then we need to be absolutely certain that we can't get pregnant.

I have a reminder app set to go off every night to remind me to take my prenatal. I found a time that typically works for me and haven't had any issues. As for temping, I have an alarm that goes off at 6:00, but I'm in the habit of snoozing until I actually get up around 6:20. So I temp at the first alarm and go back to sleep for a few more mins before starting my routine. My thermometer comes with an alarm, which could be handy. If yours doesn't, something that might help would be changing your alarm until you form the habit. Like change the alarm tone if you use your phone, or use your phone instead of an alarm clock. Maybe that change will subconsciously trigger something to help you remember in the mornings?

u/loopymath · 2 pointsr/waiting_to_try

Jumping in to say I'm a fitful sleeper as well (my fitbit always says I got 1-1.5 hours less sleep than the time I was in bed), but have been able to see the temp shift indicating O.

I have the Easy@Home thermometer which stores 60 temps and has an alarm on it. So I have the alarm set for 5:30 every day (it's the time I get up for work). Then even on weekends and holidays, I temp at that time, then go back to sleep and record the temp later in the day.

It doesn't hurt to try! :)

Welcome! I too share the 'because I've never had a scare there must be something wrong school'. I've learned here that despite what we've all been told getting knocked up isn't as easy as we thought (OK so some folks sneeze and are pregnant). While I do feel kind of let down that's OK.

My husband and I also both have a low sex drive (another thing I've learned is OK and not uncommon here) so timing things adds extra importance. I started temping this cycle I have a whole 2 points! Woo-hoo!

I have this thermometer. I don't love it but I don't have experience with anything else beeping at me at 5 am so there is that.

Thanks fam, I greatly appreciate it!

My buddy, who is slightly shorter than me did the same route that I did from 230-ish to 180 (which is my end goal), and he ended up using this bluetooth scale and app called FIT-INDEX which he recommended to me and I'm using now.

The scale is here if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HW8BPY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The convenient thing is that it connects with fitbit, myfitnesspal, and apple health, so I never have to touch those three apps and manually update my weight. I just pop on the scale and have it update all the platforms.

One thing to note, don't have your phone in your hand because it will throw the weight off. I weighed myself one day and found out I was 0.5 lbs heavier and got upset. Turned out my phone weighs 0.5 lbs.

Packing cubes and a garment folder made my life easier. Organization makes quick work in hostel dorms.

I loved my old backpack, but have purchased a new REI Flashpack 45 on sale. Of course, now the same bag is like $80 on rei vs the $120 or so I got it. It lacks the zippered pockets of my Kelty Redwing, but is way lighter, and has far better shoulder and waist support for hiking. It's within an inch of carryon size, so I think it'll be ok.

For general hiking and extended walking, Leukotape has been a lifesaver. It sticks better than moleskin, leaves less residue, stays on even wet, and can stay on for a couple days. Covers up hot spots or sore spots from walking around cities too long in my Chacos. Each kit is specific to the person and the trip, but if I'm only taking care of myself, and only out a few days, I'm carrying the following: Lighterpack from GSMNP trip (scroll down to FAK). Most of that is blister prevention and treatment. The Leukotape, tincture of benzoin, and scissors are key. Leukotape is a brand name, and it's good stuff. Amazon link (not an affiliate, just a happy user) Combined with the tincture of benzoin (both an antiseptic and an adhesive), you can treat a blister well, and have the Leuko stick even when your feet are going to stay wet. To save bulk and weight, put some strips of Leuko on the silicone-backed paper that labels come on, and then trim it to the size you need on the trail. Leukotape, combined with the gauze, can make a larger Band-Aid. Scissors because scissors are easier that trimming a bandage with a knife, especially when you really want to get a bandage on. And with the Leukotape (or any tape), you'll want to round the corners to keep them from rolling up.

In case it's not well-known, the vet tape is just that self-sticking tape that they use on your arm after you donate blood. Really good stuff if you need to hold a larger bandage on.

Longer trips will get the hydrocortisone and the neosporin, but I don't normally take it because I've never needed it.

If you know you're prone to chafing, provision for that. Desitin (zinc oxide) is good stuff, and doubles as a sunscreen.

Lip balm and sunscreen are a must as well, but I don't consider them FAK gear.

Fidget Spinners are little spinning devices you can hold in your hand and spin without taking your eyes or attention away from the person speaking.

Fidget devices (specifically NOT called "toys") are prescribed as a therapy option for kids with ADHD rather than giving them medication. They are small, simple devices that allow them to keep their hands active without keeping them from listening to the teacher. The concept is that by doing two things at once they are kept active, but as one of the things takes no mental capacity their intelligence focus remains solely on the task at hand.

Some of your better schools are buying Fidget Devices for their elementary classrooms for teachers to let kids have during lessons. These can range from squishy spike balls, to spinners, to tactile tangles (probably the most popular). They're small, silent devices that you can give kids to use under the table without distracting students around them. They keep the kid's hands busy so that their mind focuses on the lesson.

The best way would probably be just to use the heavier switches until your fingers naturally get stronger. If you really want to build finger strength, they sell finger strength trainers for guitarists like this.

u/LtCrack2 · 2 pointsr/TBI

This might help
I broke my right arm just below the shoulder and of course I'm right handed and have spasticity on that side. This definitely helped strengthen it and you could work on doing it in motions to a metronome or a song.

u/StoneyBill · 2 pointsr/Guitar_Theory

No song recommendations, persay, but I can't recommend getting a hand exerciser enough. I got one two weeks ago and have been using it absentmindedly at my work desk, or as a way to actively fidget during meetings. I have already noticed a HUGE improvement in the dexterity of my pinky finger (and others of course).

Here's the one I got. Very affordable, and you can adjust the resistance, as well as build calluses (using the string molds under the rubber grip)

https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Varigrip-Adjustable-Hand-Exerciser/dp/B001OCGGEM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492652330&sr=8-1&keywords=daddario+finger+exerciser

u/kostaricohse · 2 pointsr/Guitar

In terms of strength and flexibility - you have several options:

- use certain hand exercisers like this ( https://www.amazon.com/DAddario-Varigrip-Adjustable-Hand-Exerciser/dp/B001OCGGEM ) or smth similar, it really helps to get a grip.

- play and play rhythm guitar songs over and over, and over time it will become easier

- try to learn chord based songs on acoustic guitar, with hard and nasty chords (after acoustic switching to electric guitar is live going to Bahamas for vacation)

For me a good inspiration is Django Reinhardt ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQhTpgicdx4 ), he only had two fingers working properly due to fire accident, and still he had became a well-known guitarist in blues / jazz scene. When i fail in guitar i take inspiration from his courage and continue trying.

u/ZagatoZee · 2 pointsr/rocksmith

I used to use a gripmaster back in my climbing days, but now prefer this
http://www.amazon.com/Planet-Waves-Varigrip-Adjustable-Exerciser/dp/B001OCGGEM/

I find the adjust-ability of it to be very helpful.
Is it the same motion as playing guitar? No, but finger strength and endurance is still useful to you. I often use it with one hand while reading from my kindle with the other. Swap hands every 5 mins or so.

u/Cruel_Melody · 2 pointsr/OkCupid

I don't really read music either. One of my goals but it hasn't been very important, I pick up things by ear fairly well.

First and foremost, get the best used guitar you can afford, preferably from a music store that knows what they're doing. Do not get a new cheap guitar. This is because cheap guitars have crappy action. The "action" is the space between the strings and fretboard. Quality instruments can be made to have very low action, which is easier on the fingers, while cheap instruments tend to warp and thus make it harder to press down on the strings. Also cheap instruments tend to go out of tune easier.

Next learn to play your favorite yet easy to play songs. You're more likely to keep up with it if you love the music you're playing. Get the chord books or tablature books for your favorite bands. There are a lot of "how to play this song" videos on YouTube.

Prepare for your fingers to hurt and bleed. This is normal. You'll build callouses eventually. Do warmups. Get a finger gripper like this to help strengthen your fingers.

If you get an electric guitar, don't worry about the whammy bar/tremolo/etc. Though a lot of electric guitars have them by default, the cheaper ones will knock your guitar out of tune if you don't know how it all works. Floyd Rose tremolos work fairly well but are a bitch to change strings. Beginners don't need them anyway.

Regardless of type, pick it up and play it with a strap or sit down with it. If it hits your arm in a funny spot, choose a different one.

Be careful of having your belt buckle exposed when you try guitars. They'll scratch the back of the guitar.

u/kingdonut7898 · 2 pointsr/Guitar

I would write down ur different modes and scales and then buy the D’addario hand exerciser to improve your hand strength and use ur fingers the same way you would with ur scales, so it will help u memorize all them.

More accurate than a handheld body fat checker. Sending the current from your feet to your hands.

u/marylou5 · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

I have one of those scales that tells you body fat. It's an Omron scale, and it has a part at the top that you can pick up and hold while it does the body fat measurement. It also tells you muscle percent, visceral fat, etc. I think it's absolutely full of crap (inaccurate), but it is VERY precise. It always gives me the same measurement.

The reason I think it's full of crap is that it consistently says I'm over 40% body fat. I weigh about 145 at 5'4", so not thin, but not morbidly obese. And I do a lot of strength training so I have a pretty good amount of muscle. How can I be 40% body fat? Ugh. I hate that scale. But at least it's precise.

u/rekarek · 2 pointsr/fatlogic

Something like this. But if you just search for "scale body fat" you'll get lots of results. Supposedly, the kind like the one I linked are better than just the floor scale type, because they send a current through the whole body since the hands are involved. YMMV.

u/funchords · 2 pointsr/loseit

None of this stuff is medical-grade testing. It uses impedance (electrical resistance) and mathematics to determine all of this. Note: electricity only runs the shortest distance.

For the scale you're considering. Draw a line on your body from the right foot, up the inside ankle, to your crotch, down to the other inside ankle, to the pads on the left foot. The wettest area of that approximate path is all that is being tested. Not your abdomen, back, chest, shoulders, neck or arms.

This is a better design: Omron Body Composition Monitor with Scale - https://smile.amazon.com/Omron-Body-Composition-Monitor-Scale/dp/B0020MMCDE

Because it's testing between four points, it's covering more of your body.

There's no cool app to go with it, but you can put this stuff in a spreadsheet (which I recommend) and use averages for trending because the body's hydration levels interfere with all of this and your data will be noisy. (True of the other scale, too.)

I seem to see muscle mass increasing visually and feel strength increasing despite body fat fluctuating between 15.3 and 18.7%. It reads muscle mass as about 41%, but I don't know how it obtains that number and I've never seen any journals pay attention to muscle mass percentage. When I used it last night, body fat was 17.5 and BMI was 21.6.

Since my weight isn't increasing, I don't know how to explain that I'm getting stronger.

It’s okay in accuracy. But I like it because it’s easy and you can check the trend. You can also check it regularly.

You can also get a DEXA scan or a Bodpod for an accurate measurement. You can then compare your fat analyzer’s reading to the Bodpod and see how far the readings are.

Gyms can also use calipers to make the measurement.

You can also get something like this which is more accurate because it combines the scale and handheld unit:

If he's open to it (which it doesn't sound like he is TBH) can you get him to do a scientific trial? Tell him it's to put your mind at ease, if that will help.

Buy one of these, hire a sitter, or send baby to grandma's for the night (if you can). Give him full permission to tie one on, but you get to test his BAC at set intervals so he can see at exactly what point he becomes incapable of caring for your baby, based on BAC levels. (Note: If he can't legally drive then that's the cutoff IMO) Make it fun for him if that's what you need to get him to cooperate.

Continue to test for an hour after he's finished his last drink. Go over the results in the morning when he's sober. Maybe he needs to visually see what his blood alcohol levels are doing to understand the weight of what you're getting at. Maybe he needs to see this not as a judgement from you, but a serious concern for the stability of your family. He needs to understand that it's not solely about being competent to physically care for an infant (though her safety is the primary concern), but if there is an emergency and he needs to drive somewhere, he needs to understand the severity of the impact to your family if he gets arrested for drunk driving, or crashes the car.

OR buy a breathalyzer.

The fuel-cell models police/EMTs use are $140. It's a LOT cheaper then a DUI. You can help everyone at the party stay safe AND it's a cool to use to see who's really having a good time and who's faking.

u/whaathe · 2 pointsr/cripplingalcoholism

Yah I been thinking of buying one myself. Seems like there is two distinct types: semiconductor or fuel cell. The first is your cheap and crappy, the second is not-so-cheap and good-ish. No BAC tester is completely accurate from a breath read. But the fuel-cell ones tend to be consistent and fairly accurate (maybe be over-cautious if you're thinking of driving though.. the +/- variance could fuck you up).

The particular one which I am personally thinking of buying is BACtrack S80.. on special at the moment. Recently there was a BAC breathalyzer installed at work which I've used a half a dozen times which has got me thinking about this.. Apparently my "oh cool finally got a buzz going" level is 0.21 :/

u/rj_atl · 2 pointsr/atlbeer

On the whole DUI topic, I bought a breathalyzer from amazon, its awesome - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0026IBZSK/ - peace of mind is totally worth it. And its peanuts compared to what I spend on beer and fedex.

u/FartyPoopy · 2 pointsr/stopdrinking

Been there man, used to hide my bottles in the ceiling tiles in my basement. Get a Breathalyzer and have your wife test you. The best selling one. A tad expensive, but it's accurate and you've spent wayyyy more on booze. If you're serious about this, have her order the breathalyzer and hide it so you can't tamper with it. Make it your goal to blow a 0.00 everyday (or throughout the day). The cravings wont go away, but it helped me stop after years of alcohol abuse. Also, have her test you randomly. I wont be drinking with you today. I hope one day you will feel happiness derived from living life instead of the fake substitute alcohol gives you. Go to your doctor and get checked out. Get some blood work done as well, a complete metabolic panel. Do it for yourself and your wife.

I just got this one: Ozeri Scale It does hydration and body fat and all kinds of other crap...it also keeps user profiles to help track different people's weight loss.

u/broadbandspf · 2 pointsr/loseit

step 1 is to log everything. sounds like you just started using MFP (although i personally prefer the app lose it!). even if you get the not-planned-ahead food - log it!

step 2 around here is CICO. this will require getting a scale. you don't sound like you're quite ready for step 2 yet (although i know you can do it!) but when you are, here is a bathroom scale rated for 440 lbs, that's under $30. this is so you can calculate TDEE, for which your weight is required.

i have totally been where you are. i've been so depressed i would only leave the house in the middle of the night and i was basically living in a pile of laundry and unopened mail. if you ever need to talk, PM me. sometimes it can be a lot easier to unload on a total stranger on the internet, and i promise i won't judge you because legit, i have been there, and now i'm on my way to losing 50 lbs and i wash my face every day and everything. you've got this.

u/follower94 · 2 pointsr/loseit

The morning after I lift I'm normally about 1.5-2lbs heavier than the day before.

Sometimes its more, for example last week I managed a new PR on my squats, next morning 4lbs heavier (water weight).

I find myself getting stuck in plateaus alot lately as I keep increasing the amount I lift, but eating at 1000 calorie defect a day. What really helps get me through it is I have a body fat scale that gives you a muscle % as well. When my weight is around the same, but you see your bf% drop and your muscle % increase, you almost don't care about your weight. Obviously there not that accurate but there consistent.

u/turo9992000 · 2 pointsr/loseit

What scale are you using? I am using this, and I don't trust it. I get a 5-10 pound difference within a couple minutes.

u/ilikesleep · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I like that This has body fat % as well.

I think the next step of conception would be tracking if and when you do ovulate. A lot of the ladies here chart various items such as BBT and Cervical mucus, although it can be as simple as using Ovulation Prediction Kits.

As far as your fears of infertility due to medical issues, I think it would be important for you to talk with your OB about your intentions to get pregnant. They would know best about your body's health and capability, in addition to recommending the best courses of treatment if necessary.

Also, if you just want to talk, vent, or yell about fertility, pregnancy, or really anything, then jump into the chat we have setup. You can also find a link to the chat in the sidebar as well as up at the top of the page.

u/2ULIVE · 2 pointsr/PMDD

You can test to see if you are ovulating with these. I'm not sure if it would tell you, but they test for a specific hormone so I think it would work. Then you can know a little better when pmdd would hit. you could probably track it with a period tracker app like clue too.

u/damnyoulove · 2 pointsr/relationship_advice

If you are thinking of going the NFP route, you can buy these ovulation test strips cheap at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Step-Ovulation-Strips-50-Count/dp/B004IJHDN6/ref=sr_1_5?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1372703244&sr=1-5

They are mostly used by people trying to get pregnant, but I don't see why they wouldn't be helpful for trying to avoid pregnancy. This way, you will know with a great more deal of accuracy if you are ovulating or not. And they're cheap!

I went through the same problems you did trying various methods of BC. I finally settled on the IUD and that's worked amazingly well for me, but understand it isn't for everyone.

Good luck!

u/letsgetknockedup · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

I'm new at this, too, but as I understand it... you should use them 2-3 times a day (preferably afternoon & evening, the levels are higher then) until you figure out the best time of day. Then do 'em daily until you see the patterns!

As far as I know, it's usually something like no line if you're nowhere near ovulating, then faint lines that get darker as you get closer to O, super-dark during O, and back to faint and then nada as you're post-O. However, again, I'm new and if I'm totally bass-ackwards, I hope somebody corrects me. =)

And FYI, Amazon sells the cheapies! http://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Step-Ovulation-Strips-50-Count/dp/B004IJHDN6/

They have pregnancy tests, too - just check for the Wondfo brand. I've had good luck with them, and I don't feel guilty if I waste one... but hey, if you're trying to figure out how your body is working, that's not wasteful! =)

u/miserabletown · 2 pointsr/sex

If only there were some kind of test...

u/whenwillthewaitend · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

What you do next depends on a couple of things. If you're 35 or older you should schedule an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) after 6+ months of trying without success. If you're under 35 the recommendation for seeing a RE is once you've tried for a full 12 months or more without success.

The other scenario in which you may want to see an RE sooner is if you've been tracking your cycles and temping and you've noticed some glaring problems that have persisted several months after discontinuing hormonal birth control. These issues would include: having most of your cycles be anovulatory (where you're not ovulating), having a luteal phase less than 10 days, having a significantly amount of luteal phase bleeding/spotting more cycles than not or having cycles that are 60+ days. In those situations you may want to get checked out sooner since it's far more likely that there is a problem.

Assuming you're under 35, if you haven't been temping and charting I'd suggest you start doing that. I've seen ladies on here say how they started temping and realized that they don't normally ovulate when they thought they did so they'd been fairly consistently missing their fertile window. Just being a couple of days off on timing sex around ovulation can make a huge difference in how likely you are to get pregnant. To this end if you want/need a little help timing sex and you're not already using OPKs I'd suggest trying those. Most ladies around here like Wondfo OPKs off Amazon.

Also, all the abbreviations are over on the sidebar. :)

[ClinicalGuard] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VT30C8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_r7dLAbGKA0QKH) is the shit. Right up there with FRER, I got two positives at 10DPO on them.

u/HeCallsMePrecious · 2 pointsr/waiting_to_try

They’re the clinical guard brand, 50 for $13 or something like that. Individually sealed! Since they are so cheap, I can totally not worry about the expense. I just check so that I have physical evidence that I’m not pregnant and go about my day!

u/lucevan · 2 pointsr/birthcontrol

No need to spend $1 per test. There are quite a few cheaper ones on Amazon. For example this is the kind I bought, 25 tests at $8. Pretty sure I won't use all of them before they expire, but even so they're cheaper on average.

u/BurnTrashForStars · 2 pointsr/TFABLinePorn

FRER will def show something if you're pregnant. For future attempts, try these they work well and are easy to read and best of all, super cheap.

u/_lysinecontingency · 2 pointsr/TFABLinePorn

When I google and match the package to what Amazon offers, says they're sensitivity of 25miu (so a normal 'cheapie' strength, but not quite FRER which picks up on 12miu)

And yes looks positive! :)

u/cypherpunks · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Er, actually, they are cheap if you get them in bulk. (50-pack, 60.)

And yes, there's very little difference; they're FDA-regulated. The main thing is that some are a little bit more sensitive, which can give you a few more days warning, but also more false alarms.

You can also get combo packs of ovulation and pregnancy detection, but some people think that takes some of the fun out of it.

u/Gunkspargle · 2 pointsr/birthcontrol

They usually start showing positive from 25mIU/ml which is pretty sensitive and about the same as First Response. The hCG levels grow exponentially as the days go by, so even if you test negative 21 days after the sex that got you pregnant, testing a week later should definitely be positive (if you ever do get pregnant on the pill, not saying this is an inevitable outcome lol). Sometimes the withdrawal bleed does stop during pregnancy on the pill, but it can stop just because your lining was thinned out quite a bit by the hormones. That's why you can't rely on the withdrawal bleed as an indicator either way.

I use the Clinical Guard tests. Always gotten a negative on them but they have a pretty good reputation for showing true positives.

u/AdviceForAnOctopus · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Early pregnancy symptoms (up to about 8 weeks) are from progesterone—the same hormone that brings on your period. So you cannot guess pregnancy based on early symptoms.

Hey dudes, have an equipment question. I'm going to purchase some knee sleeves soon and have narrowed my search down to the following:

  • Strength Shop Single Ply Hercules

  • Strength Shop Double Ply Thor (I should note these are on sale right now for $23 USD.

  • Rehband 7mm Knee Sleeve - Model 7051 (I think these actually went up in price since I first checked.)

I have a bit of a budget on this (at or below the $50 USD mark) so if there's another brand that may be better I'm open to suggestions. Doesn't have to be IPF compliant (I'm not competing). Also, I'm not quite sure the difference between single ply and double ply other than "one more ply than the other" which I'm assuming means a bit more support.

Edit I am an actual retard and didn't notice the one very small line on the Rehband sleeves that mentions they are sold as singles and not a pair. This changes things.
u/xiphos1992 · 2 pointsr/powerlifting

I don't know about wraps but Reband knee sleeves are a great investment imo. Sleeves. They are great at warming up the knees and getting everything moving. They have really helped with any sort of pain I had IN my knees in the joint area. However, it seems like you are having pain above the knee. Perhaps this is a mobility problem? Do you regularly stretch your quads and hamstrings? And do you regularly work your hamstrings?

u/aybrah · 2 pointsr/weightlifting

It really depends what youre looking for.

---
These are very popular, many elite lifters use them (Lu, Tian tao, Liao hui, etc) http://store.hookgrip.com/shop/blue-white-hookgrip-knee-sleeves/

Those sleeves linked above do not really provide any support, they will not aid you in performing any movements, theyre mostly for warmth and maybe proprioception in some ways.

---
Then you have these http://www.amazon.com/Rehband-7mm-Knee-Sleeve-Original/dp/B0088KPT50/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450897198&sr=8-1&keywords=rehband+knee+sleeves

Rehband is also very popular among many lifters, these provide a little more support and are thicker, these still probably wont really add anything to your lifts (maybe 5 pounds if you get them a size down??).

---
Then you have this tier of sleeves http://www.howmuchyabench.net/strong-sleeves

http://www.andersonpowerlifting.com/knee-sleeves-p/sbd-knee-sleeves-pair.htm

These are used more for powerlifting or for squats only(i dont think ive seen anyone perform olympic lifts with either), they are supposed to be pretty tight and offer a lot of support, they will definitely allow you to squat more (ive seen most people get 10kg+ out of them)

---

The more support you want, the more you will have to pay. There are also knee wraps which generally provide more support than any sleeve can and those have a similar breakdown from less supportive to more supportive.

u/dfmtr · 2 pointsr/bodybuilding

Sounds like the exact same problem I had. I got my form coached by pros, nothing major was pointed out, nothing helped with the pain. Then someone suggested a snug pair of these Rehband knee sleeves ($84/pair), and no more knee pain ever since. I don't know if it's the extra support (they are not the assistive kind of sleeves that would add pounds to your squat like wraps) or the heat, my knees just don't pop or hurt anymore.

u/Jaxper · 2 pointsr/weightroom

Sleeves definitely aren't the end-all, be-all solution to knee pain, as u/mantittiez (lol) and u/TheAesir point out.

That being said, if your situation is like mine, the sleeves definitely helped me due to the simple fact that it kept my knees nice and warm throughout my squat workouts while working out in a cold(er) garage. I went with this sleeve. Also, keep in mind, that it isn't sold as a pair.

u/Lodekim · 2 pointsr/powerlifting

You are stronger tham me, but I can give some comments.

  • I've never used knee wraps but they can take time to learn. As for sleeves the older all blue ones like this are nice. The newer ones are not durable enough for squatting. There's plenty of other good kinds too, but I'm happy with mine.

  • Chucks vs shoes with a heel is personal preference and leverages. I recently switched to chucks after a year of using lifting shoes because the lifting shoes pitch me forward when I squat wide and I usually go too deep if I go narrower. It's 100% personal preference. I'd say do a few weeks of heavy training in each and see what feels better (and more consistent).

  • I think wrist wraps are worth experimenting with, but if you don't have any issues they're not likely to make a big difference. I can use a wider grip with wraps but that's because I do have pain without them when going that wide near my max. I don't think they'll add anything.

  • A few inches off the chest is a normal sticking point for raw benchers. There are lots of suggestions (training with longer pauses, extra chest work, extra shoulder work, overload work) but it's likely to always be the weak spot unless you bench close grip, so it's mostly just getting stronger. I'd say make sure you're uncomfortably tight, but I doubt you have a 370 bench without knowing that already.

  • I don't think the singlet matters much. I've used an old one I borrowed from my gym owner both times I've needed one.

  • I don't personally like deloading for 2 weeks, but I'm not elite and my technique suffers if I don't lift heavy for that long. I doubt it's necessary either, but you'll have to learn over time what works for you. It's definitely useful to do lighter weights as you get close. In the past for a Sunday meet I lift heavy up through Friday the week before (9 days out) then light (50-70% for low reps to keep technique on point) the Monday and Wednesday before the meet. In the future I wanna try a little heavier on that Monday, but I don't want to be near my max for at least 5-7 days.

u/theodore_boozevelt · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

Because you don't pee on a stick for what most people here are doing.

For many types of pregnancy tests, to determine if you're pregnant or not, you have a stick and you pee on it. Most of the tests you see on TV and that are the easiest to grab at the store are like this.

But most of us on this sub aren't talking about pregnancy tests all the time, and this post isn't about pee cups for pregnancy tests. Nah, we're talking about ovulation predictor kit tests, which tell you if you're ovulating or not. Ovulation happens once a month (hopefully) and means that your egg is released and is ready for sperm to come and attach to it, making a baby. It's a bit tricky to know exactly when you're ovulating, especially if you just started checking for signs of it. But there are reliable and proven signs, including fluid or discharge that has a stretchy, egg-white consistency (called egg white cervical mucus or EWCW), a slight drop in your body temperature, and a surge in a hormone called the luteinizing hormone, or LH. You can check if there was a surge in LH from at-home urine tests. If you're trying really hard to have a baby, it's super important to know if you're ovulating or not, and so most of us on this subreddit are taking these little tests daily or twice-daily for a week or two each month.

For ovulation predictor kits (OPKs), it's not a stick that you directly pee on, it's a strip that you dip into a small amount of urine for 5 seconds. Here is the brand of ovulation test strips that I use. Here is information and instructions for this type of test.

So, you need a little cup. And I was wondering what kind of cups we all used and if or how they got cleaned. And I got my answers! And that is the very, very long response to your question!

u/123_journey · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

I love this comment. Lol.

Last cycle I had 6 empty circles, 4 flashing smileys, and then the solid smiley. Considering the fact that sperm can live for 5 days inside you, I'd say that was a pretty good indicator for me. (even though I didn't actually get pregnant but whatever)

But jeez, $35 for 20 sticks!? And that won't even cover 2 full cycles for me, because my cycles were longer than I predicted and I had a lot of empty circles. Meanwhile, there's this mountain of tests for $20 on Amazon, but... I kind of like the smiley faces and the early calls for pot roast... hmm...

u/popppyy · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

Temping is good to give you an idea of when you ovulate, that way you can start using OPKs the days leading up to it. So if by temping you notice a pattern where you usually ovulate on CD15, then you start using OPKs starting on CD11 (for example). The line will get darker as you get closer to O, so that's technically when you should do it.

Temping for a few months beforehand is good to give you an idea of when you O and such, that way you're not going crazy using OPKs. I used these with great success using first morning's pee.

u/MollyElla511 · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

u/eggmarie · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

I'm using these strips currently, I wasn't really sure what was good or not. The thing that is confusing is that it says to test in the afternoon and not your FMU. But, the way my sleep schedule is:

5ish PM, wake up, pee, etc

9PM-8AM work, get home, pee

go to sleep around 9 AM and repeat

So I've been testing around 8 AM when I get home, but I'm not sure if that would be the correct time or not. I've just been testing that one time, should I try to increase to maybe once before I go to work and then again in the morning when I get home?

Hi, two months of trying isn't enough to start worrying about infertility. Doctors usually start asking questions after 6 months to a year of trying. I'm 30 and I also waited until I was financially ready to start a family. I also never thought about having kids when I was younger but I thank god I realized I wanted a family! I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant (high risk pregnancy due to a short cervix). Anyway, I used these products to know exactly when I was ovulating + to help me with lubrication since I tend to be stressed/dry during sex:

Stores do....but they can get expensive! I ended up ordering the test strips off Amazon. You end up using so much it's better to buy the strips that you pee in a cup and then dip! My brother in law went across the country for his bachelor party. He went with his brothers, best friends and his dad (his dad went to keep him out of trouble....)

After a night of going out, the went back to the hotel when my future brother in law had the genius idea to walk to a gas station looking for dip. He decided to take a short cut by going through some yards and jumping the fence. As he put it, he went up like Tarzan and down like Humpty Dumpty.

He shattered his ankle, broke his phone, and had to hobble to the street where a stranger drove him to the hospital. He had to have surgery and screws put into his ankle/foot.

For his wedding, he used a knee crutch. He looked like a pirate. My bridezilla of a sister surprised us all by not freaking out, despite the fact they had spent months on private dance lessons and had an adventurous honeymoon planned.

The bachelor party story was epically hilarious. It just added to it that they had wedding crashers in sports attire come to a black tie wedding. Then the bride and groom overslept the next day and missed their flight for their honeymoon. They lost a day on the island as a result. The whole thing was like a movie.

You're likely going to be in a quite a bit of pain after your surgery. You really are going to need a lot of care in the first week post-surgery. I went through this recently with my SO. He broke his ankle in 2 places and had to have surgery to put in a plate and 6 or 8 screws. He was not able to really even move the first few days as he was in so much pain, and it took about a week for him to at least be somewhat comfortable again. I don't want to make you nervous, but I just want to tell you what you could be facing.

See if there is any way possible to have someone in your family or even a close friend come and be with you during this time. Your boyfriend is already feeling overwhelmed now, and it is going to get worse before it gets better. Even if you could rotate people after a day or two, to give your boyfriend a bit of a break, that would probably help. I did it without question for my SO, but we've been together for 13 years and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you and your boyfriend have not been together too long, this could definitely put some strain on your relationship.

After that initial period of pain, however, you should be able to start moving around again. I suggest getting: http://www.amazon.com/Drive-Medical-790-Steerable-Walker/dp/B003VMAKVS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414551922&sr=8-1&keywords=medical+scooter

or: http://www.amazon.com/iWALK-2-0-Hands-Free-Crutch/dp/B00092RB06/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414551964&sr=8-1&keywords=iwalk+free

**EDIT: If you have the type of injury that would allow for either of these devices. If not, I would definitely look for devices that would accommodate your injury. Being somewhat mobile is the key to your (even limited) independence and crutches are just a pain.

You can probably rent one of the scooters from your surgeon's office, but we found out the hard way that it was cheaper to buy one on Amazon and then resell it when you are finished with it. People told us that the iWalk crutch worked out well for them, too. By the fourth or fifth week post surgery, we were in Vegas with my SO scooting around all over the place. The scooter is a drunk person magnet, FYI. Ha ha

I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Kinesiology tape is great stuff for blisters, minor sprains/strains, trigger points, or recurring problems like patellar subluxation. By all means, throw some into your kit if you are prone to these problems. $8.43 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000E59HXC

You could also cut multiple parallel tangential slits (not through and through) in your duct tape and make it stretchy. The gauze roll I picked is also stretchy (like an ace bandage) for wrapping around an ankle. Just a word of caution- if you’re not sure it isn’t broken, better to immobilize.

In your FAK/ repair kit throw in a couple large pieces of tenacious tape, some duct or gaffer tape, small tube of adhesives (shoe goo and seam grip ), Leukotape, tiny spool of heavy thread, and 3 large needles. UL gear is great and you definitely dont need some ultra strong 1000D codura nylon backpack that weighs 9 lbs on its own, but it is fragile and a few multiuse repair items can go A LONG WAY.

Try Leukotape wherever you’re getting blisters. Just a small piece cut to size and applied like a bandage. Use this for hiking long distances and it works like a charm anytime I’m feeling a hot spot come on.

My experience is mainly with trail runners that are broken in but it reduces friction and moisture which are two big causes of blistering.

My new routine: Put Abolene on back before shower. I consider it a mineral oil treatment. As a body wash I use Selsun Blue Naturals Shampoo with SA (it's 3% and amazing), this is my only body wash. Two applications in the same day of the dark still leaves me the lightest person in the room, just no longer ghosty. The few times I did continuously use it I reapplied every three or four days. I got something like this for when I was in work training- it helped with my fidgeting a little. I'm also trying out taking inositol, which some people says helps with anxiety and compulsive behaviors. If it makes a big difference, I'll post here. I also just tried drinking a lot of water once. Like, when I got the urge to bite, I would take a sip of water.

I got to about 2 months without biting my nails before, but all of that energy just went to other places. Nails made it easier to pick my skin, and I'd just paint my nails and flake the paint off :I

u/fafan_ · 1 pointr/Skinpicking

Hi, I’m so sorry that your girlfriend is going through this. What has helped me when I first started out. as my picking issue was with acne and extracting pus is that after the shower and ONLY after the shower if a pimple has bursted while I showered, I would gently extract the rest of the gunk, using gloves and two pieces of tissue. I could only do this to ONE pimple of my choosing; if it didn’t have any gunk then that was it, game over. My sister helped me out a lot with this as she over shadowed me to keep me disciplined so that I would overstep my boundaries and pop anymore then the pimple I chose during he first few weeks. Not gonna lie, it was tuff at first but then, it helped as I progressively started seeing results. The more I got into my skin picking journey. I started getting even more serious after about 3 weeks in and bought a tangle therapy toy that kept my hands busy. I bought 3 one of them was on me at all times, and the other 2 were wherever I spent majority of my time. I also figured out my triggers. For ex: I would tend to pick when I lost control of a situation or when I had a problem that did not go my way. I signed a no skin picking contract, and posted them on every mirror; when I felt I was about to pick or caught myself picking I took in 3 deep breaths and asked myself the questions that where on the on the no skin picking contract by this time I was no long interested in picking no picking contract and every night at then end of the day I would put a check mark on my daily habit calendar , the more check marks I seen the more I became inspired to not pick so that I wouldn’t break my streak. What helps me with scars is the cosrx centella blemish cream it works on any scar or blemish/scab and with exfoliation Either use the this or that now if she is unable to use a scrub due to jerk skin being sensitive this enzyme mask is really nice I also used hydrocolloid patches, I bought the large thin ones and cut them up (it’s cheaper this way) I also keep all my finger nails really short and would cover the tips of my fingers that I use to pick with bandaids. So far this routine has really helped. I hope you find some things in here useable and if all else fails therapy could really aid In controlling this issue or nipping it in the butt all together goodluck!❤️

I've got a few that I like:

  • Bike Chain Fidget - It's a couple of bike chain links connected with keyrings. It's super-simple, small, and easy to take wherever.

  • Tangle or Tangle Jr. - My wife bought one for herself first, but she and I both liked it so much that we got a couple more. The one I have at work has a rubbery clear silicone coating which is a little unpleasant to my touch, but it has two more segments than Tangle Jr. which means I can form it into a variety of geometrically interesting arrangements. My ideal version would be hard plastic without the silicone, but with 20 segments instead of 18. My wife claims they can snap apart, but I think this is not intended in the design since it results in it coming un-done when you don't want it to.

  • Hand Spinners - There are a lot of variations in both style and quality. You can get a cheap one for a few bucks, and those work just fine, or you can get a nice one with quality plastic or metal body and a high-end ceramic bearing for the center. I made my own using a laser cutter, and a neighbor used his 3D printer to make one. I'm considering buying a nice metal one in the near future. Whatever you do, get one with caps for the center bearing, it makes holding the spinner 10x easier.

Be prepared for sore fingers, peeling and possibly blisters. I also recommend getting a D'Addario finger exerciser (primarily for your fretting hand). When I got one, within a week I noticed my fretting skills on my ring finger and pinky vastly improved.

I concur with everyone else as far as learning a couple core songs and get into that groove. After some time, you will start hitting the pocket on them.

Strongly recommend getting Rocksmith 2014 as well. It really helps quite a bit for beginners. You can get it for gaming consoles and PC but the PC handles the audio much better without the issues of lag like the console do.

It takes awhile and takes a lot of practice to build your fingers and arms. Your teacher is probably not concerned at the moment, because you are still learning your strings and notes. As the songs become more complicated and you are moving across the strings more, it will pointed out more.

As for the tiredness, I'd try a handgrip exerciser.

Interesting. Personally, I don't have a problem with any regular bends on my 17w G string (except on frets 1, 2, and 3) and I play on a 28.6" neck, so the tension is higher. I just went to my guitar and tried just to double check that I wasn't talking out of my ass. If you really want to get into playing with a wound third string, perhaps pick up a finger strengthener like this. If not, then don't sweat it

Normally I'd say practicing those scales is the best finger exercise that money can buy, but if you're having trouble playing the notes cleanly with the 4th finger, it kinda defeats the purpose.

No, the cheap ones are semiconductor. According to the product line comparison from that BACtrack company, their entire consumer line of breathalyzers are semiconductor based. Ultimately, would you put a police grade sensor in a novelty phone accessory? That company's bluetooth based product is fuel cell based, so you're right the BOM might be a bit more. A product could be built on semiconductor sensors for that price and likely do well in that market. Maybe that is how the breathometer will position itself, as $150 for this kind of toy seems stiff.

I currently use this digital bathroom scale and also a digital kitchen scale from the same company. Both have very good reviews on amazon, so I always assume my data is pretty accurate when entering it on MFP.

As for pre-prepared foods, I think this low carb pita bread is the only one I eat 1-3 times a week, and I even sometimes cut it in half making it 2 net carbs instead of 4 (I use it to make tiny pizzas) along with 1tbsp low carb pasta sauce which I guess is also considered pre-prepared food.

I already eat lots of eggs, meat, cheese, salmon, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and lettuce. Sometimes half a medium-sized tomato in salad with creamy cucumber dressing. I can't stand avocados (or rather, have no clue how to make it taste good by my standards) so I stay away from it. I suppose I could start using oil more though.

I really like it. It's very close to my weight at the doctor's office. It looks nice. It calculates a few other things but I'm unsure about the accuracy. The body fat percentage is right on with using the online calculators that guess based on measurements but I've not had it measured with a more accurate method.

u/justsomemammal · 1 pointr/AskWomen

Ovulation does tend to occur about 14 days into your cycle if you have a 28 day cycle, but there is a range and some women ovulate early. If you want to do an experiment, you can buy ovulation test kits at the drug store, or super cheap on Amazon.

u/missus_b · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

So basically what you'll need to do is track your cycle. I use the smart phone app called "Fertility Friend." You take your temperature every morning when you wake up and record it in the app. The day after you ovulate, it rises at least 0.3 degrees and stays up for at least three days, confirming ovulation. Here's what my chart looked like last month. After a few months, you'll be (and the app will be) able to see a pattern--say, that you ovulate on cycle day 18, and you're fertile from cycle day 14 to 18. Then you know to avoid those days.

I also use Ovulation Predictor Test Strips to help me tell when I'm about to ovulate because for me, I need to be trapping my husband in the house at that time ;) It might be useful to you if you're avoiding pregnancy to know when you should use condoms or just avoid sex.

I definitely recommend this book: Taking Charge of Your Fertility as a total textbook. There are other signs/metrics you can track to corroborate your predictions about when you're fertile (like the consistency of your cervical fluid and the position of your cervix) but those are harder for me to explain--I let the professionals do it ;)

This has worked for me in the sense that I know, with absolute certainty, when I am going to ovulate every month (I am just not pregnant yet). Many many women in committed relationships use this method successfully to avoid pregnancy without involving hormones--it just takes about three months to really establish a pattern. Let me know if you have any questions!

50 pregnancy test strips for $9.17.

If you're trying to get pregnant, the same company makes ovulation tests for about the same price.

u/mrsflatline · 1 pointr/TryingForABaby

We're at our first TTC cycle this month too! I also struggled with the basal temperature thing too. I found it easier to spend 20 bucks on a 50 pack ovulation pee test bundle on Amazon.
Good luck!

u/kithmswbd · 1 pointr/childfree

if you use natural family planning, make sure to use more than basal temperature (and make sure your sleep schedule is pretty regular or that measure is somewhat crap as well).

There are ovulation tests you can use too. They are more or less intended for those trying to conceive (TTC, get used to that abrev. if you go that route) but will assist in your purposes as well. They, like pregnancy tests can be pretty brutal in price unless you are shopping in bulk for just the strips. This is how I get my pregnancy tests too, btw, as I am on depo and test monthly since I don't have a period/withdrawal bleed.

u/ofboom · 1 pointr/sex

Amazon sells these in bulk for cheap.

But they also have tests at almost any drug store, in an easier read format but they're fewer tests for the money. Amazon sells bulk pregnancy tests too that are very similar!

u/moarpi34me · 1 pointr/PCOS

It is totally possible to ovulate but not have a period. In a woman with 100% normal function, she'd ovulate somewhere near the middle of her cycle, conceive, and then not have the next period two weeks later. So, yeah. You could have gotten pregnant. I would go get a blood test ASAP. And, depending on your type of PCOS, I would recommend using ovulation tests for a month to see if you have significant fluctuations in your Lh levels. A significant spike would indicate ovulation. I use these to see if/when I will start ovulating (I don't currently, but I am on meds and dieting so that may change!) http://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Step-Ovulation-Strips-50-Count/dp/B004IJHDN6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425582295&sr=8-1&keywords=wondfo+ovulation+tests Good luck, OP! These are Ovulation tests that test for Lutein Hormone (LH) which can help predict a forthcoming ovulation in the next 12-48 hours. It's not a guarantee or confirmation that you do ovulate - only temping can help confirm an ovulation. This sounds like an irrational level of anxiety for this (and there's nothing wrong with that, we all have our irrational fears that we can't do anything to stop). Would it maybe help if you tested regularly? I've seen that as a trick for people who have similar anxieties, they buy the cheap test strips in bulk (like these: https://www.amazon.com/ClinicalGuard®-Pregnancy-Test-Strips-Individually-Sealed/dp/B007VT30C8) and test monthly or even weekly. Although that tends to be more useful in places where abortion is a more viable option. It would still help regularly confirm that you're not pregnant, and between the pills and condoms, you're beyond relatively safe.

u/TheLillin · 1 pointr/birthcontrol

I don't have any good suggestions for you based on what information you've given(I found hormonal birth control to be hit or miss for me, now I use a copper IUD) but I suggest keeping something like this in your medicine cabinet for the occasional "oh shit" moment you might get. They're very accurate and much much cheaper than going to the drug store and getting one of the boxed tests.

u/witchrist · 1 pointr/birthcontrol

thank you so, so much for your response — i'm also wondering why the hell i'm getting so slammed with anxiety and mood swings when it's been a month after i've taken it, same as you? i also get really nauseous when i'm anxious — super fun side effect, amirite. :/ hormones are no joke when it comes to how they affect mood.

if there's anything that will help ease your anxiety, take a pregnancy test. i have a giant pack of cheap ones i got on amazon that work well and are pretty highly rated.

I feel your pain. I am also oldish (65), and my squat is weak, despite having good form (got trained). I found knee sleeves help a lot with knee pain. I also switched to goblet squats and deadlifts, as well as leg press. Romanian deadlifts are good for the hamstrings as well. Good luck.

u/Lync6 · 1 pointr/Stronglifts5x5

I suggest getting some knee sleeves. The price is quite hefty, around $80 for a pair of rehbands (http://www.amazon.com/Rehband-7mm-Knee-Sleeve-Original/dp/B0088KPT50/ref=sr_1_6_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1459309671&sr=1-6&keywords=knee+sleeve) but I think its well worth it. They keep everything very tight and even help out a bit on your squat. Get a pair, see how they feel and then if your pain is still there, then consider just deloading a couple times.

u/Frank_Caswole · 1 pointr/bodybuilding
u/ZCount · 1 pointr/weightlifting

I actually have purchased or received as a gift the hookgrip wraps, hookgrip knee sleeves, and rehband sleeves.

I agree with /u/ronniedowd that if you want warmth only, the hookgrip knee sleeves work great and they're cheap. Rehband sleeves provide a lot more support, and they are super durable, but they are fairly expensive. Now I only use the hookgrip wraps, because they're adjustable. If I only want warmth I can wrap them loosely, but if I'm squatting heavy and need support I can wrap them quite tightly. I can't say yet how durable the wraps are.

u/HurricaneHasan · 1 pointr/powerlifting

I've been using the blue rehbands for about 3 years, and they're still in good, usable condition.

(1) I've never found a lift as hard or rewarding as the squat. For my money it goes beyond even a lower body lift. It impacts my entire system. That said squatting is not for everyone but I would at least try and see if it can work before giving it up completely.

(2) Assuming you are having trouble with barbell back squatting I would try these three things in the following order:

I also had a bit of luck sitting on an exercise ball and sleeping on a wedge.

Nothing actually made it 'better' though. Fortunately all of it was better the second she was born. I was practically skipping through

i would add that, while there is a physiologic basis for smoking and alcohol cessation, weight loss and trigger food avoidance, the only life improvement modality that's ever been proven to work by evidence is raising the head of your bed. if you cant put bricks or cinder blocks under the head of your bed, buy a wedge pillow for 30 bucks from amazon.com

u/jemartian · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

Bed wedges! They are amazing. I've had really bad acid reflux for over 10 years now, the kind that makes you run to the er because it feels like someone is ripping your chest open, and wedges are a huge help! I have been sleeping on one every night for 8 months now and my night time symptoms are almost nonexistent. Here's an example of one http://www.amazon.com/InteVision-Wedge-Pillow-Quality-Removable/dp/B009HHLBKK/ref=zg_bs_3775471_1

u/arctic_man · 1 pointr/SleepApnea

I sleep sitting up. I could not handle sleeping on my side, and do not like the idea of the machine; so sleeping reclined it is. Not diagnosed because that costs monies, but I do snore very loud, and wake up tired. Lately I have been waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom which can be a sign as well. Sleeping reclined has helped quite a bit. I feel better during the day and do not feel like I am going to fall asleep at work or in traffic.

I will be picking up one of these to help eventually.

u/missedsomething · 1 pointr/sexover30

Happy to :)
While we always enjoyed doggy style we do a lot more of it these days.
Also, we picked up a wedge pillow (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009HHLBKK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01) and it has been fun. My wife can lay on her back with it under her hips and it is great as it raises her hips and it changes the angle that I enter her and where I hit internally. It also allows us to maintain eye contact. ;) It's also a great position for me to give her oral as I can go for up to an hour without getting a sore neck.
She also likes to lay face down on it with it under her hips. Very similar to doggy but it's a lot easier on her arms.
We love to spoon but entering her while spooning is difficult now. We've compensated by spooning from the waist down which allows penetration and I can still touch her back, arms and face, maintaining a level of connection.
I think the final one that we enjoy is where she lays on her back and I lay on my side next to her, maybe at a 45 degree angle. She raises her leg closest to me, I slide my top leg under her raised leg and extend so that lies on top of or next to her other leg. This allows us me to enter her and get really deep into her.
Another one that we've added is where she lays on her side and moves her top leg forward with her lower leg running parallel to her lower leg. I then straddle her lower leg and slide into her. It's ok for us. I mention it as it's worth trying and I know experiences vary by person.
If I wasn't clear or descriptive enough let me know and I'll try to clarify.
Oh, and one more thing... We added a Hitatchi magic wand and she loves having a non-penetrative vibrator.

u/b00persn00t · 1 pointr/ACL

Yes! When one (car) door closes, another opens ;)

This is the wedge pillow I got but it was cheaper when I got it (~$25) - I think any wedge pillow could work, or you can get one that's designed for a single leg - just make sure you can use it with your leg fully extended.

This is the bed desk I got - I used it a lot for the first few days, but then I was able to move myself to a desk. I guess I should probably still use it when I'm on my laptop in bed but I don't... my laptop doesn't have any issues overheating and I feel like it just gets in the way sometimes.

So far I'm very happy with them, the strips themselves seem very well put-together, whereas some photos of other internet cheapies look kind of flimsy, if that makes sense. I paid extra for faster shipping, but otherwise these are SUPER low-cost. I got the 50-OPK/20-HPT pack, but they come in other sizes and mixes, if you aren't interested in the OPKs.

For tracking, I rely mostly on CM, which was SUPER important this cycle. Before my last TWW, I had been taking a regular multi-v plus folic acid supplements, but during my C1 TWW I started taking my prenatals daily, and I'm pretty sure they caused me to ovulate early (lots of B vitamins). My cycle is normally like clockwork, so any change is very abnormal, and if I hadn't been checking CM, I would have missed it completely. I ovulated on CD13, versus CD16, and I hadn't even started the OPKs until CD14. Luckily, I was temping, so I was able to confirm my O-date after the fact.

If you are looking into getting a thermometer, I ended up getting mine at the grocery store, and it was like $5. Still a BBT, and I've not had ANY issues with it: Veridian Healthcare 60-Second Digital Basal Thermometer. The price online varies from $6-10.

I swore I wouldn't start temping, but I do honestly feel relaxed by doing it. I think it just suits my personality, because I really like data analysis and following a routine. I do wake up a lot at night and temp at different times each early morning (usually from 3am-8am), but even so, my chart looks consistent enough! :)

I have this scale but this cheaper one isn't necessarily any less accurate (but it might be). These scales use electronics to estimate your body fat percentage which may be inaccurate. There are more accurate ways that proper facilities use that involve dunking your whole body in water, but I've seen youtube videos where professionals have doubts about those readings too.

In other words, don't get hung up on the exact number, just measure first thing in the morning after you pee/poo but before you have anything to eat/drink to make the measurement as reliable as possible, and then try to watch it go down over time.

I have one of these scales and my mother-in-law has a different one. When both scales say I have about 19% I'll say i've hit the goal.
