I have 5 of the 5.0 SD2Vitas and they work on OLED, Slim and PSTV models. Never had an issue with any of them.

It's Nintendo branded, gullible people will buy it, for everyone else there's that.

I have this camera, with this charger, this visor mount, this MicroSD Card, and an extra long mini USB cable I had laying around for my set up and it works great. It's extremely easy to set it all up yourself. I've had the camera for over a year now, and so far it has survived 1 Houston Summer. In total I've spent about a $100 on this whole set up, and i've already had a couple close calls.

Here are some video examples from my camera: 1, 2, and here is how it does during the night time.

Also, there is a suction mount available for that camera as well.

(Before anyone says anything about some off brand power supply, that you need one of those high quality power supplys yada yada, I have that exact power supply and it works great. I'm pretty sure they all use the exact same ac-dc converter, just different housing and cable design. Currently doing some more tests on my pi3 overclocked to 1.35ghz and stress testing it to see the temps. Just finished another test, 22x22mm heat sink + 10mm fan + arctic silver and the avg temp over 5mins was 41C and I never got the undervolt warning)

Sure. I have tried it out in day and night, and the video quality at 1920x1080 is awesome in the day, and good at night. It's still pretty dark on rural roads with the exception of what's lit up by the headlights, so it's not perfect. I read during my research that, unless you want to spend $300+ this is as good as it gets for night-time recording. On city streets and other well lit areas like parking lots the night recording is great.

The camera and mount are incredibly light, almost to the point of feeling fragile, but I haven't had any issues. The suction cup has one of those levers, and has not come unstuck from my windshield. The camera attaches and detaches from the suction cup mount by sliding on.

It comes with USB, HDMI mini to HDMI output, and car charger cables (I purchased from this seller on ebay, which took about two weeks to ship out of Hong-Kong, but I was wary of counterfeit products from Amazon sellers). The USB cable is standard mini, and is pretty short so you may need to swap it out. Mine reaches my cigarette lighter just fine (with a 12v to USB converter). The battery seems to be crap, so expect to have it plugged in while recording, which is perfect because it turns on automatically and starts recording when you plug it in, and there is a setting to have it auto power off after a few minutes without direct power.

It has settings for different resolutions (including a lower resolution at maybe 1280x720? not sure) with 60fps vs 30fps at 1920x1080. There are also settings for motion detection (car is bumped in the parking lot), wide dynamic range, infrared lights (I hear these don't really help), auto-shutoff (power disconnect) time, auto-screen-shut-off (still recording) time, etc. I haven't really fiddled with the options much, as it works pretty much out of the box.

You will need a micro SD card. It says it only supports 32GB, but if you buy a 64GB (and maybe 128GB, haven't tested this myself) micro SDXC card and format it to FAT32 with a program like guiformat32, it will allow the camera to record to all 64GB of the device (actual capacity found is something like 59.2GB). I got this one from Amazon.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope that helps you decide.

The class numbers roughly correlate with how many Megabytes per second they can transfer. So class 2 can transfer about 2 MB/s, class 4 about 4 MB/s.

In all honesty, a good Sandisk class 4 should be sufficient. You can buy a 16GB class 4 sandisk MicroSD for $9.25 and free shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-16GB-MicroSDHC-Memory-Class/dp/B001F7AJKI/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1347360698&sr=1-6&keywords=32gb+micro+sd

Of course, if you want faster speeds, go for a higher class, but the only issue I can think of class 4 MicroSD's having is being having to wait about .7 seconds between taking photos while the photo is written to the card. Also class 4's won't give you amazing fast transfer speeds.(you get 4 MB/s)

u/[deleted] · 7 pointsr/Android

> SD cards are unreliable and slow

As a digital camera owner, I promise you, sd cards are not slow, you just buy slow sd cards.

In digital photography when you have a big ass 18MP camera chugging through 5+ shots a second, you need a way to empty that camera cache into the ext storage fast enough to prevent the cache from filling and the shutter speed from dropping to barely a couple shots per second.

Next time you look at an sd card, you'll notice it has a number with a circle around it which describes the class. The class is a rough identifier for its speed. It goes from Class 1 - 10, and now we have a UHS-1 identifier which is a U with a 1 in it, for the highest speed. source

For example: This $12 16GB Sandisk Class 2 will push a minimum of 2MB/s but this $15 16GB Sandisk Class10/UHS1 will push a minimum of 50MB/s.

Despite there only being a $3 price difference, there is a 25X performance difference.

TL;DR: The type of sdcard you buy matters heavily if you want performance from the card.

  • Caveat 1: I listed spec speeds, not real world speeds. Your mileage will vary heavily based on device and clock speed of memory
  • Caveat 2: Only some Android devices support UHS sd cards, and it's recommended to not use them in unsupported devices.

This comment chain is perfect for me since I'm undergoing problems with this process.

I recently bought this 64 GB SD card for Sun and Moon.

And have been trying to use the MiniTool method to reformat it to Fat32 from the default exFat. But MiniTool says that it's a "bad disk" despite working perfectly with Windows 10 otherwise.

Does anyone know what's going on and how I can get it to work with MiniTool?

u/RynoKenny · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I learned from the 3DS that digital DLs can be unfortunate when you want to share games with a friend, and so I am just going with pre-order cartridges from Amazon (for the ability to share on top of the amazon pre-order discounts). I've also heard that because they are flash cartridges, that the switch won't need much HDD space since they can write directly to the cartridge itself like with the N64 and before.

Question: If I only purchase SNES/N64 games on the virtual console, is it likely that 32GB will be enough for my use? I'd prefer not having to purchase this (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-128GB-UHS-I-Memory/dp/B00NP63Y4K/ref=cm_wl_huc_item) if 32GB will likely be safe for my use. Thank you for your opinions.

I'm surprised how well priced the 1080p TVs are nowadays. 1 2

And these memory cards are really cheap compared to how much storage you can get 1 2 3

And this Xbox One 500GB Console - Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle is really cheap $200.

/u/donkawechico - congratulations on the decision to buy the GH4 - it's the best still/video camera you can buy at this price point.

That said, I recommend you avoid that "videographer's kit". Most of the accessories in it (to include the mic) are not worth much - and the seller (Pixibytes) is [not an authorized Panasonic retailer] (http://shop.panasonic.com/view-all-camera-authorized-retailers.html) - which means the camera is probably not covered by a factory warranty.

Instead, with an $1800 budget, I recommend:

> Is it possible to use a micro SD (with adapter of course)

Yes.

> If so, any disadvantage to doing that?

Read/write speeds tend to not be as good, and the adapter is an additional failure point. You may as well just get a regular 64GB SD card.

Thanks for the excellent review, and I'm glad you like this machine overall.

I think the wedge-style case would bug me. I like having things more rectangular.

I hate anti-aliased text, and always turn ClearType off in Windows because of that. I like nice, sharp edges on text. :) That means that personally FHD is about as high-res as I'd want to get on a 14" screen.

Like you, I miss the ThinkLight. I think the 6-row keyboard is mostly an improvement.

How's the access for upgradability? Opening my T450 was a real pain in the butt.

I really, really miss 16:10 aspect-ratio screens. I doubt we'll see them on ThinkPads again, unfortunately.

To fill the SD card slot, I'd just get a microSD adapter like this one. Many microSD cards come with them, too. https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSD-Memory-Adapter-MICROSD-ADAPTER/dp/B0047WZOOO

Rokinon makes cine lenses for Canon, Nikon, Sony and micro 4/3 mounts. We would have to know which mount is on the lenses before we recommend a specific adapter. Sorry.

That said, when you find out what adapter you need, you can get one for less than $20, e.g. [Referral Links]:

You can get a PSP 3000 used and in great condition on ebay for as low as $60. If you don't care about finding the best deal, you could easily find one at an average price of $80. From there, you can go on Amazon and get a 32 GB memory stick in the form of a dual-adapter that combines two 16 GB microSD cards into one stick. Even if you stop playing your PSP, you'll still have two 16 GB microSD cards to use for a phone, camera, computer, etc.

Anyways, so it'll come out to about $100. I've done software mods for a fair amount of electronics and I have to say that the PSP is by far the easiest. It's an extremely fast and simple mod that can be reversed at any time by simply restarting the system. It can then be reapplied by running a file that literally just restarts the console as modded.

You can play NES, SNES, GB, GBA, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega CD, PSP, PSX, and more. I played a bunch of GBA, GB, and SNES games on mine and they all ran flawlessly. You can keep the games at their original resolution, fit it to screen, stretch it, or anything else you want. It's awesome. You can even play PSX games perfectly. I played a bunch of Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, and Tomba. Don't forget that you can obviously play anything in the PSP library too. They're uploaded all over the place and you literally just copy/paste them into the Games folder on your memory stick, and they run perfectly.

Seriously, if you want to play emulators on-the-go or even chilling on your couch, get a PSP 3000 on ebay. The screen is nice and big, the buttons are comfy, and everything is simple when it comes to software modification. Here's the basic mod. For $100, it's an awesome setup and I highly recommend it.

Edit: I almost forget to mention that you can use a computer monitor as the display for the PSP if you want. I never cared to, so I can't say whether it's simple to set up or comfortable.

u/JoeyBlaze · 3 pointsr/PSP

This doesn't say what class the memory cards are. If they're class 2 (which they prob are) it may not work for him. He's better off getting 2 of these http://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-16GB-MicroSDHC-Memory-Class/dp/B001F7AJKI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334237949&sr=8-1 and one of these http://www.amazon.com/PhotoFast-MicroSDHC-Adapter-Converts-MicroSD/dp/B001B6EAOY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334237985&sr=8-1 and he'll still save $9.00 from your link.

u/FlyingBishop · 3 pointsr/hardware

Did you not read the developer spec sheet before you bought your machine?

Of more serious concern is the fact that 32GB can be had for half the cost in two 16GB cards.

I'm gonna wait until the 128GB cards come out to buy a 32GB card.

Well, I might cave at 64GB. Point is it isn't worth $200.

u/Daitelion · 3 pointsr/PSP

Don't upgrade if you don't have troubles playing your games, if it aint broken don't fix it I say, 6.20 here and I can play pretty much anything.

Also I'm using the same adapter, but with the sandisk cards shown here, try formatting them after inserting the adapter with both of them inside, you can format them via the system settings.

u/IM_THE_DECOY · 3 pointsr/gopro

As someone who has recently spent a lot of time researching SD cards for a new GoPro. Allow me to save you a lot of time.

Don't bother with anything less than class 10. Anything lower will not work.

Avoid Sandisk, they work fine for some people, but lots of people have issues with them.

A single 32GB card will provide more shooting time than a single battery will give you, so if you don't have extra batteries and don't plan on getting any, 32GB is fine. However, extra batteries are relatively cheap, so I opted to go for 64GB.

Long story short:
This is the one I went with

That is about the best bang for you buck your going to find.

There are a few (slightly) better cards out there, but they are over 100 dollars.

Hope this helps.

Hi! thanks for the reply.

I sent you guys an email a few hours ago.
Pretty much standard setup. Switch with a Samsung Memory 128 GB EVO Plus SD card (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WR0HIR4/). I am playing handheld.

There are no obvious signs of corruption in the SD: I've been playing other titles from the SD too and never had a crash.
I have also been playing other graphic intense games for hours without any problem either, so this seems to be specific to this particular game.

First crash was while walking along the train tracks, just after leaving the little station to the left. Second crash just after the narrating voice in the bridge. 2 more crashes after exploring a few rooms in the first house( after the bridge, on the left hill) Fifth crash in the second large walking inside a room. I stopped playing at this point:)

The only thing I can think of is that I downloaded the game in an airport, so maybe the download got a bit corrupted? Since loading the same part of the game after a crash does not reproduce the crash it seems unlikely, but hey, weirder things happen.
I will delete it and redownload it tonight and see if that helps. the reviewer linked above also seemed to face some crashes, so I don't know.

The game is gorgeous and performance is very impressive. I'm really keen to keep playing it.

u/SkullatorNZ · 3 pointsr/SwitchHacks

Interesting, well your 256gb sandisk card is like the latest & greatest model sandisk makes I believe. So I guess what is happening here is the U1 card I tested against link probably has lower speeds \ write rate than your newer model Sandisk U1 card.

I guess it would also help if we knew specifically how long your rev2 install takes to know just how much faster each card may be. We pretty much just press install and then lose track of things until we notice install is complete. Like I really didn't expect that install to take 53 minutes, but sure enough an episode of Better Call Saul completed before it did haha.

Edit: Oh and I only used the Xecuter menu to install the .NSP files. I could try double check some of these tests with devmenu \ tinfoil to see if there's any difference there.

Lexar cards are garbage now. The company was dissolved and the name was sold and is now manufactured by crappy Chinese companies that care only about the name.

You want to use micro SD cards that use MLC technology. The old TLC standard does not work as well and cannot take the harsh conditions or constant overwriting of files. I recommend the Transcend High Endurance model

If you are on a tight budget you may want to consider the Transcend Premium 400X or the Samsung EVO Select

Ive got the other tough armor spigen case (as I did with my g3, and g5 that was recently lost) this case personally I like it more just because of the kickstand. Also if you haven't already gotten one for yourself or op needs a micro sd card this one is the best for the money since it has a higher read write speed then a ton of the other cards on the market and it helps save the pictures faster when taking them at such high definition. Also great when apps are stored on it since nougat brought back that beloved feature

I would recommend getting a faster SD card, like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HU3Q6S4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a UHS Class 3, which is much better than the one you linked. I had just received this in the mail yesterday, installed it as internal storage, but haven't actually properly tested it out to confirm if there are any load-lagging issues. If there are, I'll report back tonight.

Amazon, walmart, and maybe others are also selling Sandisk Extreme for $49.99, but from what I'm seeing they're the extreme and not the extreme plus. Link Amazon Example

Best Buy is also selling a WD external hard drive
4TB for $79.99
8TB for $129.99
At the moment, they're sold out. Will see if they become available again

I can't see the need for a screen protector with this phone. Mine is in and out of pockets and bags all day, everyday, and it has no issue. The oleophobic coating is great, too.

Something about the mindset of, "let me buy this phone renown for its durability and wrap it in a suit of plastic and glass," strikes me as odd.

As for other accessories, it depends on how you plan to use it. If you're intending to do a lot of filming, then yea, a gimbal would be a good call.

You could also get a tripod mount like this: link

A high-quality, high-capacity SD card would also be good: link

A USB OTG adapter would probably serve you well: link

Extra batteries and a charging cradle and/or an extended battery may be good ideas, too, as the camera eats the battery if you're shooting high quality.

I can confirm that both of these worked with My Vita Slim 2000. These are the exact ones I purchased and am currently using. You have to watch out for "fakes" apparently, but these are legit.

-Slim is a bit more suited for hacking, since it has 1GB accessible internal storage. OLED requires a memory card (or MLTHaku, which I don't recommend). If you own a memory card, then it doesn't really matter.

-The guide we link in this sub is reliable and relatively simple

-Not any drawbacks I can think of

-PSP/PS1 runs great on the vita via the application Adrenaline. It uses some of the vita hardware, so not completely emulated.

-SNES GBA emulation is decent, however I do not consider the vita a great retro emulation machine.

-sd2vita. Any version 5/6 will do just fine.

-Streaming PC games to vita requires PC with NVIDIA chipset (Moonlight application).

u/khedoros · 2 pointsr/emulation

I went with an adapter with 2 slots, and it actually seems to do something similar to RAID-0 (striping), so it ends up with double the performance that 2 cards would have (tested that against a 1-card adapter that I bought before).

You're also better off going with a Sandisk at class 4 speed. In my experience, class 6 and up don't handle small data transfers as well, but class 4 should give more performance than class 2.

A Sandisk Class 4 microSDHC isn't going to cost you much more, but you should be able to squeeze a better speed out of it.

You can get a SanDisk 16GB for $12.65. An 8GB is only $8.

If you don't mind something small and basic, the Sansa Clip+ just came out and it's dirt cheap. It may not be all big and fancy like an iPod Touch, but it's been getting great reviews. I'm about to buy one for myself. You can get the 4 gb model for $50, and then add a 16gb Micro SD for about $40-50. 20gb player, and $100 left over.

u/MontrealDriving · 2 pointsr/Dashcam

I'm guessing when you say "tiny" that your camera is using a microSD card?

You can read that in your computer's SD Card slot with an adapter. You don't have to shop hard for such an adapter; for less than $15 at any electronics store you can just buy a microSD card that comes with one; it'll work with any microSD card.

u/areilly321 · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

u/Porkpants81 · 2 pointsr/3DS

If you aren't trasnferring from the old system then the files cannot be used on the new system at all.

You don't need the MicroSD in the old system to do a transfer. You put it in the new system and it can transfer wirelessly to the new system.

To answer your question....yes you probably can dump the files onto your computer from the 4gb card, and then use the wireless transfer tool on the N3DS to copy them from your computer to the SD card in the N3DS. HOWEVER, there's no point in doing this, the files will be on the 32gb card, but won't be usable on the N3DS unless you do a real system transfer.

You can also buy the adapter for a few dollars on Amazon:

I ordered an SD card and it came dead on arrival. I requested a refund and it says Samsung needs to approve it. I then get a message saying do I want to exchange it and my request was denied. I said I want a refund and was asked if I want a partial refund and keep the SD card or full refund and return it. I was cautioned that for the full refund I would have to pay for shipping and it would be expensive since it is going to be sent back to UK. I said I want to do a full refund but according to the product page and Amazon, if an item is sent DoA and sold by Amazon.com, full refund and shipping cost is covered (this is correct, right? Or is it considered to be sold by Samsung instead? I don't see Samsung's policy on Amazon.com).

3 things that bothers me:

  • There are some reviews saying the card is fake.
  • The person handling my request is using nearly broken English (definitely not professional).
  • My request for refund was denied before I even stated whether I want an exchange or refund and the person seems to dissuade me from a full refund despite me stating that's what I want.

Regardless, I'm not interested in reporting to Amazon or contacting Amazon directly to handle this case unless necessary. Can I expect a full refund including shipping costs for this product? If the seller refuses to pay for shipping, should I contact Amazon or can I not expect shipping costs to be refunded? Would Amazon be providing a prepaid label?

Much appreciated. I really don't want to eat the shipping cost for an item that's DoA, especially when it's going to be relatively expensive.
u/DevinOlsen · 2 pointsr/gopro

So what's the best deal on the camera and memory card? I imagine since the product is brand new it'll be pretty much the exact same from everywhere, right?

Any reason not to? Is that a good memory card? It's one of the recommended ones on GoPro's website so I figure it's a safe bet.

u/SolMarch · 2 pointsr/videography

Just chiming in here. /u/arcticrobot is indeed correct that the SD Association's website has the answer. However, the page on SD card speed classes is where you'll find the official designation for UHS speed classes:

> The UHS Speed Classes defined by the SD Association are UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3).

(emphasis added for clarity)

I could not find any mention of "UHS-1" or "UHS-3" in reference to speed class on that site.

I actually picked up one of those Transcend 64GB U3 SDXC cards when it was recently on sale for $19.99, and it is a UHS-I card. Transcend's UHS-II 64GB card hovers at around $74.99.

I use a couple PNY Elite Performance 64GB cards + a Sony 64GB UHS-I card. There is a few second lag if you shoot -> press playback immediately after, but from what I've read, that's just a camera buffer issue (since it's limited to USB 2.0). They will hold about 1200 shots of uncompressed RAW (50MB a pop).

I have a few 128GB and a few 256GB and some older 64GB (which doesn't hold much 4k video these days) but have never had an issue with either.

I also have the 55mm 1.8 and love it. In addition I have the FE 35mm 2.8 and just got the APS-C 35mm 1.8 for my FS5 body. I do mostly video so I might sell the FE 35mm as I haven't used it for stills yet. Eventually I want the 35 1.4 as well and I'll sell both other 35mm's.

TL;DR The phone, and no other phones, support UHS-II which is the fast bus speed. So just go grab a samsung EVO PRO and you're done.

Alright, here is a big argument about it on the forums.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/s7-edge-uhs-ii-u3-t3324743/page1

There are a few speed standards here so you should go to wikipedia first to understand them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Ultra_High_Speed_.28UHS.29_bus

The word you were looking for is "bus" which is the connection controller interface, essentially.

Here is someone saying no phones have UHS-II yet http://hardwarerecs.stackexchange.com/questions/2556/suggest-me-phones-with-uhs-ii-support

So yeah, a lot of these cards WOULD be overkill for your device. This is a big surprise to me.

If you look at the UHS-II cards on amazon, they are all like $50 or more and are probably for pro photography or something.

The Sandisk Ultra cards are a fast, but cheap option (80MB/s):

https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-Class-Memory-SDSDUNC-032G-GN6IN/dp/B0143IIP4W/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=5DD535KM1R45YSDD85CV&th=1

These are UHS-I cards, which may explain the low price. The X-E3's card slot is UHS-I, so there's no advantage to buying UHS-II cards, other than future-proofing.

u/Craggzoid · 2 pointsr/photography

Why though? How big your card? I can take over 1000 RAW photos on a 64GB card, so I can leave it in the camera if the images aren't super important.

Just buy another card it will cost you $20/£20 and you have solved the problem. The whole point of removable storage is that you can be flexible, so don't limit yourself.

$12 64GB Sandisk Ultra (slowest card but fine for photos) https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-UHS-I-Memory-SDSDUNC-064G-GN6IN/dp/B0143IIP4W

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012PL6K8M/

Buy two of those Lexmark cards, or even 3 32GB ones (not sure how many photos you take at once), and you're sorted.

u/Drudicta · 2 pointsr/truegaming

Considering at 4X a Blu-ray is read at only about 15MB/s I have the feeling it will be extremely easy to beat that with an SD card. The really expensive SD cards at 64GB's are about 30 dollars and have a read and write of 80MB/s

The PS3 has a 2X Blu-ray Drive, which means it's closer to only 9MB/s {72mbps} read.

As for SD cards, yes they will probably cost more if the game is considerable in size, so many companies will stick with discs and whatever is cheapest in general as long as it's not so cheap as to piss people off.

u/NeoMarxismIsEvil · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

I bought the canakit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C6EQNNK/

It has a case, but doesn't have an SD card. I bought this SDcard:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DOB6Y5Q/

Whatever sdcard you get you'll want a UHS-I Class 10 card. Buying an 8GB card doesn't save you that much money though. For example https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSDHC-Standard-Packaging-SDSDQUAN-008G-G4A/dp/B00M55C0VU/

In my opinion it is not worth paying more for a pre-installed sdcard because you can use WinDiskImager to copy the raspbian img file to the card very easily.

  • Cheapest: G1W-C(B) ($50 USD) + 8/16 or 32gb micro SD card

Note about Micro SD cards: Preferred - Micro SD cards (High Endurance, MLC based, with error correction)

It depends on which Samsung ones and which Sandisk ones are you talking about.

I'm looking at the prices on Amazon, a 32 GB EVO Select from Samsung is $10, while a 32 GB Sandisk Ultra is $15, and both of them claim the same "up to 80 MB/s transfer speed", but I'm sure that's just the read speed and write speeds might be better on the Sandisk, hence why it's more expensive, but I haven't checked so I'm not sure.

I haven't heard of Samsung's Evo Select line before, judging from the price I assume it's a cheaper and worse performing line than the Evo, but you can also buy a 32 GB Samsung Evo+ for $15, so Samsung microSD's aren't more expensive.

The only thing I didn't follow exactly:
I'm on Windows 10 and didn't have a FAT32 option. So I used the utility recommended in the thread, but it didn't have a 32kb cluster size option - so I used the lowest available, which was 512kb. Is this the problem, and if so, how am I supposed to get it done with 32kb?

I am using this card.

u/Dain42 · 2 pointsr/Games

With the SD cards and the internal storage, it's possible that they're going to be doing some caching of assets that are likely to be needed soon to the onboard storage when playing games. That would be a possible way to get around people who buy the cheapest, slowest SD cards. They could also warn when a cheap, slow SD card is inserted and that it may slow things down.

But you're quite correct that newer SD cards have vastly improved read-write speeds. U3 cards are still a bit pricier than others, but not really too much more than a C10/U1 card. And if you look at the read speeds, you're getting 80-90 MB/s, which isn't that far off from a mid-range hard drive like a WD Blue.

Luckily for audio stuff, audio isn't much of a concern, but if you need something, the VideoMicro is only around $50.

Bag choices are endless and i really cant recommend one simply because there are so many options. Look at B&H or amazon. I use the Lowepro Transit Sling (around $35) when i'm traveling. In general, lowepro makes a ton of good options that aren't crazy. I also love the Canon 100DG or 200DG bag for something a little bit bigger

For lighting there are a couple ways to go. On the ultra cheap side, you can essentially DIY a lighting setup using home depot clamp lights and/or work lights. But that's like emergency level broke. You're better off just saving up and picking up either a few budget LED panels or I also REALLY like the older Lowell Pro light kits that you can get used. They're tungsten hard light kits but are great as a solo shooter. I picked up a 4 light (200w/each) kit on ebay with stands, gels, diffusion, case, etc, for around $200. For LED panels, i recommend looking at the Yongnuo YN300iii. It's $60 but it's better than most LED options under $100. Keep in mind that you will need a stand ($20) and batteries ($20).

For memory, pretty much any UHS-1 speed card from a major manufacturer will work. You can get away with 32gb but you'll probably just want to pony up for a 64gb. It's up to you though. I use various sandisks. Here is a good one - https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-32GB-UHS-I-SDSDXXG-032G-GN4IN/dp/B01J5RHBQ4/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1518115492&sr=1-3&keywords=sandisk+extreme+uhs-1+32gb

I'll keep adding stuff as i think of it

u/rainguy · 2 pointsr/videography

Many people like to use Sandisk Extreme Pro cards as they're generally both fast and reliable. One of these should work well if you're only after a 32GB one. It'll cope just fine with 4K and higher bit rates, so not need to worry about it keeping up when you do switch to recording in 4K.

I use these cards myself and they've served me well so far.

X-T100 is a great camera. Overall image quality is as good as Fuji's latest, high-end cameras. It's not quite as good in low-light, or AF performance as the more expensive Fujis, but still significantly better than most consumer-level DSLRs. IMO, it's more than enough camera for most beginners and will carry you until you're mode advanced or your needs change.

As far as memory cards, cheap SanDisk Extreme Pro will be more than enough for this camera. You can get the 32GB or 64GB variants, depending on what you want. I have a 32GB version on my wife's X-T100 without any issues.

I benchmarked my SanDisk A1, 128GB microSD (http://amzn.com/B06XX3X9JD) using FIO with a small-block random-read workload. Here's how you can run it against your microSD and then USB stick:

Press F4 to exit EmulationStation.

At the prompt:

Become root and install FIO

sudo bash
apt update
apt install -y fio

# Create a new FIO benchmark profile
mkdir -p /etc/fio
cat > /etc/fio/random-read-test.fio <<EOF
rw=randread
ioengine=sync
direct=1
invalidate=1
directory=/tmp/fio
nrfiles=10000
filesize=32k-128k
EOF

# FIO will create its temporary files here
mkdir -p /tmp/fio

# Run it
fio /etc/fio/random-read-test.fio
Results

The interesting results are the 99.00th percentile completion (clat) times; 516us in my results below.

Retry on your USB stick

After this, change the directory= value to a new temp area on your USB stick, mkdir the new path if needed, and run it again.

>I definitely wouldn’t wanna get the Vita because of the damn proprietary storage cards alone. What a joke. Otherwise I’d be all over it.

You can buy a Micro SD to Vita adapter card for $9 on Amazon.

>If I can find a legit battery for my PSP I think that might be the best route for me.

If you have a 3000, finding a good battery will be kind of hard but it is a good option.

I just switched from Wink to Home Assistant last week and couldn't be happier. The setup was a little daunting but any snag was resolved with a quick Google search. Used hass.io on a Raspberry Pi 3. My big recommendations are to get a fast SD card (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KXQX3S3), it makes hass.io run much faster. Node-Red is so much better for automations, I wouldn't even consider using the Home Assistant automations. I used an Aeotec Z-Wave stick and my lights turn on instantly, much faster than with the Wink hub (make sure to add z-wave devices using the "add node secure" button, not the button on the Aeotec stick), excluding with the Aeotec stick is fine. I also setup emulated-hue so my Amazon Echos can control Home Assistant locally. Best of luck.

A 128gb Nintendo cars is a good option? this one

u/CaspianX2 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Okay, first things first, you're asking in the Nintendo Switch subreddit, so be prepared for a slew of biased opinions.

Secondly, the main reason to get a game system is for the games it plays. When it comes to the Switch, it does three things very well - Nintendo first-party games, small indie titles, and good portable gaming experiences.

For Nintendo first-party stuff, the big draws for a fifteen year-old are probably going to be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with Super Mario Maker 2 being another good one. There are absolutely other must-have games for the Switch, but I'd wager that if a 15 year-old is opening up a Switch on Christmas day, these are the two games that are most likely to be on his mind. Oh, also, be aware that playing games like Smash Bros. and Mario Maker online will require a Nintendo Switch Online Membership (and if you want to play online too, get the Family Membership).

For indie games, a lot of these can only be bought directly on the Nintendo Switch eShop, which leads me to a few recommendations - first, I highly recommend getting a decent size MicroSDXC card to store digital games in. Sandisk makes one specifically for the Switch, but you don't need to get that specific one, just so long as you go for a MicroSDXC card from a decent manufacturer). Even if your kid is only getting cartridges, some games require the SD card space so this will be important. Some great digital games on the Switch that might appeal to your kid include Hollow Knight and Fast RMX.

As for the thing being portable, that's the thing that really sets apart the Switch... but it also means that you'll want to be sure to get a decent screen protector for it, and probably a good case, because the last thing you want to do is damage a $300 piece of expensive equipment.

Oh, on that note, if you find yourself looking at the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite and wondering what the differences are, here's the deal:

The Switch Lite is $100 cheaper. However, to make it cheaper, they removed the ability to play games on your TV - it is only a portable system, where the original Switch can be played on your TV and as a portable system. Some people have a strong opinion about which is better, but in the end it comes down to just what interests you. However, know that if you want something that will hook up to your TV, you don't want a Switch Lite.

As for whether or not the thing will collect dust... honestly, who knows with a kid that age? I absolutely love my Switch and play it all the time, but I don't know your kid or where his shifting priorities will take him in the years ahead. If he loves games, I can say there are definitely games that he'll only be able to play on the Nintendo Switch - Zelda and Mario and Smash Bros... basically, anything Nintendo themselves make is something he'll only be able to play on a Nintendo system, and Nintendo makes some of the best games around. I'm not sure if this is why he wanted it, or if he's more interested in the "cool" factor of a game system he can take anywhere with him... that's something that might require some sly subtle questioning on your part to discover.

That said, be aware that the Switch is not known for having top-of-the-line graphics, and the visuals it puts out are generally not as good as the PlayStation 4. That's kinda' to be expected, since it's portable. However, this will probably be even more pronounced next Christmas, when both Sony and Microsoft are planning to put out their next big videogame systems. The Switch will still probably be going strong then - Nintendo will always make great games that will make people want to play them, and the Switch being portable makes it different enough to stay interesting, but don't be surprised if next year another game system becomes the big new shiny thing.

I know these aren't exactly the reassuring answers you might've been looking for, but when it comes to a teenager, I'm not sure a big, reassuring answer is going to be completely honest. I can say that if your kid is asking for a Switch, I'm sure he wants one and I'm sure he'll enjoy it. But for how long? That I don't know because, you know, teenager.

I hope this helps!

ok so at first i bought a 200gb sd card thinking i would download all the games. which it started too but then some games i bought in the eshop gave me a error when they were installing. tried to download the same game 5x and it was frustrating so i had to download it to the actual switch16gb memory.

happened to a couple games. so i looked into it and it was because the micro sd wasnt a official one/maybe fake?.

bought a official switch 128gb micro sd on amazon (more expensive than the 200gb) and all the games actually installed and i think the games even downloaded faster (even tho the 200gb had a faster write speed)

you wouldn't even need to say this if they didn't charge out the ass for their proprietary memory cards. normal mini sd cards cost half the cost for twice the space literally. see plain here and Sony here.

u/Rutgrr · 1 pointr/pokemon

Yeah. You can download updates and even download games directly.

If you're going to buy that bundle, I suggest getting the micro-SD card off Amazon. I use 8 GB in this and 16 GB in my phone.

However, since 16 GB's are now 2.24, I think it's more worth it to buy those. The biggest DS games are 128 MB each, all save files are 1 KB I believe, and the biggest 3DS games are 512 MB.

Also, on ebay I found all sorts of SD card navigation cards. But nearly all of them were microSD cards. If I bought one of those, could I just stick it in an adapter like this one and plug it in? Or do I really need an actual SD card? I'm guessing just the adapter would work.

memory..you mean a micro SD? You can get one cheap on Amazon, just grab a 16 or 32 GB for $25 or less.

u/inserttitlehere · 1 pointr/self

One thing you should make note of, your phone (I have the same phone) takes a micro sd card, not just an sd card. Don't buy it from verizon at all. They will rip you off. Try newegg or amazon, or if you have a local fry's store. Walmart doesn't have the best prices either. And since it's just for a phone, the brand and speed really doesn't matter all that much. Just make sure to pick one that has decent reviews and a decent price. You should be able to pick up a 32GB or so for $30 or less.

If we throw the issue of gamines that are going to run on it being available on other android devices, it's not so bad.

First off, you can see features like using a micro-SD card instead of proprietary bs like what the Vita uses. (64 GB Announced at $200, 32GB at $85).

Now, a 32GB Micro-SD is going to run you around 20$ and a 64GB Micro-SD around $55

I mean, if you'd like to rationalize the cost there is already 60-150$ cheaper storage.

IIRC, it does have better processing power (Correct me if i'm wrong) than the competition, but IMO it's going to come down to game availability assuming there are no lacks in quality. It does look like nVidia has tried to put as many features as possible into this device, but only time will tell.

u/Consolol · 1 pointr/photography

Depends what speed the Lexar card is, but for a 32GB card you're huuugely overpaying, no matter how fast it is. I'm not sure what you're looking at, but the 32GB SanDisk Extreme Pro is faster and half the price.

Either way, your camera won't be able to keep up with the fast write speed of the card, but if you're using a USB 3.0 connection (not sure when Apple started using USB 3.0 in the Macs), then you'll notice the speed difference when transferring photos. Otherwise you can get away with a 45MB/s card.

do yourself a favor and replace the card, a faster and bigger card is not expensive at all. I ran into the same problems on my friends o3DS. and after you installed MH4U it will be full. you wont be able to put any other programs or games on it.

I used this 32gb card, and less than a $/GB is pretty cheap even for a higher speed card. unlike a few years ago.

and as far as I can tell the higher speed is a nice boon as well for the old 3DS

I currently own a 6D, I was one of the ones really excited for its release. AN AFFORDABLE FULL FRAME DSLR RIGHT?

So I bought it over the holiday and I am loving it. I've been using on and off for school projects for the past 5 months, and have 2 weddings over the next 2 weekends.

Keep in mind, because it takes SD cards instead of CF cards, the write speed will be a little slower. This was the biggest issue when I first purchased it, I thought I had fast enough SD cards but my footage told other wise. I purchased the fastest SD card that I could find, a SanDisk Extreme Pro and it makes a world of difference; especially at the All-I recording speed.

Your Rokinon lenses are going to change as well, if I'm not mistaken they're not made for an APS-C sensor, so the 35 will be wider on the full frame, and the 85 will be as well. Canon's APS-C sensors have a crop factor of 1.6x on lenses not made for APS-C; so you've essentially been working with 56mm and 136mm lenses.

BUT, just remember to buy really fast SD cards, and great glass. She'll treat you great just as she's treated me.

I just ordered this one : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007NDL56A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

they say it can go up to 90mb/s writing speed. even if it goes "only" to 70 or 80, it'll be enough for me :)

On my Note 3 I originally bought a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1. Had nothing but problems with it randomly "ejecting", even thought it was solidly seated. Per recommendations I got here on Reddit, I purchased the Samsung Electronics 64GB Pro microSDXC Extreme Speed (UHS-1) - which has worked perfectly for 6 months now.

So, get the Samsung card and save yourself some pain.

the best place will be online on amazon.com or people on this subreddit may point out places that are having especially good deals, right now this usually applies for the hero 3 black.

Depending on which camera you get there are certain micro sd specifications. If you plan on getting the white I believe you need a class 8 or above but considering the deals available for the newer models I would advise against this.

Getting the Silver you should get any micro sd that's class 10 I think this was the best deal when I got mine.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007XZL7PC/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

for the black you'll need again any class 10 but avoid using sandisk as there have been some problems where the gopro limits the bitrate for the very high resolutions.

For the black + you'll need one of the micro sd cards specified on this list

http://gopro.com/support/articles/software-update-release

you can find micro sd cards in store at best buy or radioshack or office depot but they will be more expensive than they will be online, and if you need to get one of the micro sd cards specified on the list, youll probably have to buy it online (I didnt see any in store).

If your getting the black or black+ this is the micro sd I got

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009SK57ZQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2 x 64GB SD cards - http://amzn.to/2gosP6T (more than just 2 cards if you want to record 4k, and if you want to buy an external recorder then just buy an SSD)

2 or 3 x Wasabi off-brand batteries - http://amzn.to/2fXikqd

Some kind of lens adapter so I can use the Canon and Pentax lenses listed above - TBH I don't know much about it.

Some kind of cage - http://amzn.to/2gbeP2u (You can buy a cage made for G7 only but this one is more versatile, later on you can upgrade to GH series and your G7 only cage won't fit)

Some kind of cheap rail system - Included above

Some kind of cheap mattebox - Not necessary

Some ND filters for the mattebox - Just buy a decent variable nd filter, it'll save you some time on set and later on you can buy a proper mattebox and IRND filters which are pricey.

Some kind of follow focus - http://bit.ly/2gbcbcT

DIY-ing or buying a steadicam / glidecam setup - Depends on the weight of full setup.

DIY-ing or buying a tracking dolly setup - DIY

Buying a decent tripod that won't break the bank - Check Benro tripods, I can't suggest anything without knowig your whole setup weight.

Some kind of lights, ideally with barndoors and some gels - http://amzn.to/2gzVVPD

Some kind of light stands - http://amzn.to/2fXmmiD

Some kind of external recorder so I can have better 1080p recording. - Just buy more cards and record in 4k then downscale it in post and you have better 1080p. Yet if you're in need of external monitor... http://amzn.to/2goANwv

Some kind of lens & sensor cleaning stuff? - If you'll buy a lens adapter then there is no need to buy a sensor cleaning stuff, and for the lenses a microfiber cloth will be enough.

Some kind of bag or pelican case to keep all this stuff in - first buy all the other things because right now we don't know how big it has to be.

The Dell XPS 13 is an insanely good choice for your requirements.

However, while the official reviews are good as they should be, keep in mind that most users on amazon have rated it below par(<4 stars) for driver issues.

So that leads my search to the latest model xps 13 9350 on amazon where users have not complained about driver issues or other such issues.

LINK: https://www.amazon.com/XPS-13-9350-13-3-Inch-Performance-Processor/dp/B01D1YFQM8/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469629724&sr=1-5&keywords=dell+xps13

The above model has an >4.5 star average rating/reviews. It has the latest skylake i5-6500U processor and 8gb ram.
However, it has 128gb ssd only. You can expand using the 3 way(sd/sdhc/sdxc) card slot by buying a good 128gb UHS/U3 sdxc card like the one linked below:

SDXC card link:
For 65$(Excellent card) -> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NP63Y4K/ref=twister_B009RVUYAY

Remember not to put your games/applications on the card as much as possible. However it can hold multimedia like songs/movies/files etc., and you'll get an incredible transfer rate(Approx 1/3 speed of an good SSD and twice the speed of HDD transfer)

If you want a reliable tried and tested choice, Asus laptops on amazon are good deals at their price points and perform well:

Can you be specific about what SD card you have. You may see an SD card that says 80 mb/s on them, but the manufacturers are sneaky and they'll put the read speed on it. The write speed (which is what is important), is usually slower. I usually use a Sandisk Extreme pro card [referral link], and they WRITE at 90 MB/s. I used to have that problem on my camera. This card solved it.

Hey thanks for the reply, here are the cards I've tried:

Integral 256GB microSDXC upto 100MB/s V30 UHS-I U3

Samsung 128GB EVO Plus MicroSDXC UHS-I Grade 1 Class 10

Samsung Mobile 256GB 95MB/s Class 10 U3

My original card was the 128, and then I upgraded earlier this year to the Integral 256. However, I noticed things loading MUCH slower than before (although I'm starting to think it was just a placebo...). Having formatted my 128 one I have gone back and redownloaded Smash but it's just as slow... this is why I'm wondering if it's something I've done to my Switch (or I've just forgotten that Smash was always slow to load)

Have quite a few games on mine, myself. I think load speed is actually denoted by the card make. Using this myself. It's not 128 gigglebits, but it takes two 7 seconds (not hyperbolic) to load and I've got a similar amount of games on it.

...I got it at this size for Colors, though.

u/reubal · 1 pointr/videography

The good news is that the a6400 is not a DSLR.

The main specs you are looking for in cards is a Class 10, U3 card. UHS-II cards are recommended, but I've been using PNY UHS-I cards in my 6300 and A7RII for almost 4 years.

These are the only cards I've used in these cameras, so I can't personally compare them to other cards, but I've never had any corrupt files or failures. And they are cheaper than the cards you linked to. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WWBCSG4 I use 64GB cards as I don't want all my digital eggs in one basket.

u/jam6618 · 1 pointr/videography

Both of what these guys said is great advice and you will definitely have to consider what to do.

The G7 often fluctuates in price between $500 and $800 so try and get it on sale if you can. Find a price tracker website and use it if you don't check prices everyday.

If you go with HybridCamRev's idea, I would highly recommend getting the g7 on sale. That would allow you to get an sd card, shotgun mic, battery, and a lav mic. You could also go for a cheaper tripod since the g7 is so light. Up to you though.

As for speeds, unless you're doing really heavy work on the card, I really wouldn't expect it to have any trouble.

I've found it performs either the same or better in everyday use in the ChromeOS finder app for loading content, and I have it mounted as a filesystem in crouton where it houses some fairly large git repositories that it handles beautifully.

u/pfizzle123 · 1 pointr/gopro

The main differences between the two are: voice control, 4K, 10megapixel vs the old session's 8meg pics, and video stabilization

I think it'd be worth it to get the hero 5 session as there is a better image output and those extra couple features. If your budget allows for it, you wont regret it!

Plus the extras included in the 4 session arent all that crazy. 16gb memory is small and you'll likely fill it up quick.

I would highly recommend this one from [KDLinks.](https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L17EMP4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

It has a front and rear camera, it goes over and replaces your rear-view mirror so it doesn't even look like you have a camera (so no need to hide it when you park), and the company was VERY fast to respond to issues and replace one of the cables when I found it was faulty many months later.

One thing of note for ANY dashcam you get, get a good high quality SD card for storage. I tried using the basic SanDisk that everyone uses, and for Dashcams it is terrible. Because the cameras constantly overwrite data, cheap cards gets corrupted quickly. I would personally get https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-UHS-I-Memory-SDSDUNC-064G-GN6IN/dp/B0143IIP4W for a SD card, it's the one I have in both my 2DS and Wii U, it's 64GB and it's only like $7 more from what you mentioned.

HDDs can be expensive, and with a 64GB card you can use an RedNAND to store your games on your SD card, but that limits you to 32gb or 8gb depending on your Wii U storage size.

I have this HDD: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S for my Wii U, it's $60 and you could probably get it cheaper. There's a 1TB version which is $51.50 there, too. On the Wii U, you won't be storing up to a TB, but some games are like 20GB while others are only 5GB. I wasn't able to find any small capacity HDDs on Amazon.

u/MightyPandaa · 1 pointr/canon

So yeah... I did some research and I found that the 80mb/s refers to the read not the write speed. Should have expected that.

I remember I did benchmarks on the card with ML and the read spead was something along the lines of 20 - 15 mb/s (still quite far off the 80mb/s in my opinion) and the write started at 8 and dropped all the way to 6 mb/s (pretty sure it was something along those lines. I don't remember the exact numbers and I can't fetch the logs because I formatted the card.) But anyway. I just dug up a two other micro SD card and put them in the camera to test the video on them. Both empty - one being some random card without any clear brand on it and the other being a SanDisk Ultra 16gb class 10 (yeah I read how that is also an old standard for speed and I shouldn't have bought it because I thought that that was fast). Both of the micro sd cards recorded a full HD video for 29 minutes (the limit) and could have kept going without any interruptions (and I was moving the camera so there isn't the argument that files were "smaller" because it is static image).

Anyway. To sum up I think that the 64GB SD card is somehow defective because it was outperformed by a generic old card and a SanDisk Ultra 16GB microsd

Edit: Also I looked at the mediainfo report for one of the videos I shot when I noticed that problem and it says that the bitrate is between 48 and 46 mb/s. No idea if that is normal, if that is good or bad.. honestly I am not that familiar with bitrates and things like that.

A question before I start; will you be using an editor to sync things up in post or would you rather take things together(audio and video) and have them all sorted out at one time?

Here's a list of things that I think would be beneficial, but not an encompassing list. If you're trying to go for a cheap list that could still get the job done, I find that these items have decent reviews on Amazon and websites and they do offer a good starting point for a budget.

  1. The Camera: Canon EOS M2 ($250)

I feel like the Canon EOS M2 would be a strong contender. It is actually a mirrorless camera that has the same sensor as that of the more expensive T3i. Due to it's lack of popularity with photographers due to the slower autofocus, it has seen multiple price reductions. Although it contains autofocusing issues in the photography modes, it's video modes are what really helps this camera out. You have a good starting lens with an 18-55mm lens, which may be wide enough for that room at 18, but it could even be close enough for a closer image. You can even be more technical and add in other features. Also this camera has a direct mic-in line for use of an external mic, like the shotgun mic below.

  2. The Audio: Zoom H1 Portable Audio Recorder $99 OR TAKSTAR SGC-598 $29.99

Audio is key here. You want to be able to hear the pastor as he gives sermons, so you have two general models. You can place the portable recorder closer to him, giving you crisp audio at a very minimal distance, or you can attach a shotgun microphone to the camera and pick it up from a distance further away. The only thing is, would you rather have the camera do it all for you or would you rather have to sync up the audio in editing? The Zoom mic is nice because you can purchase one of these ($21.38) and mic the pastor up before service to give a very crisp lapel audio.

  3. The SD Cards: Sandisk 64GB 80mb/s ($22.49)

    This should be a given.

  4. Power and Adapters: AC Adapter ($15.50) OR 2-Pack Spare Batteries($28.99)

You can choose to have it either plugged in the whole time during recording, or you can have it run off of batteries. Your personal preference.

  5. Tripod: AmazonBasics 60" tripod ($23.49)

You requested a tripod for the ease of use.

Given that you live in the US, after taxes, you're essentially looking at a $500 setup for all of that equipment. That may not be the best equipment for people or even be suggested by anyone else here, but that is just my $0.02.

You should get a class 10 card to make sure you have enough bandwidth to record video or use burst mode but otherwise it doesn't really make a difference. Something like this would probably be perfect for you. I don't really trust no name brand SD cards, and why take the risk when sandisk ones are so cheap?

u/aj3x · 1 pointr/3DS

This one or this one The first one should be just fine. If you have a 2ds, then an adapter is required I think.

u/Capncorky · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

Just tried another PSU, no change. This is my SD card (I use a separate SD card of the same brand/make for Retropie & Recalbox). Unfortunately, I don't have another TV I can try it on, only have 1 HDMI capable TV.

Fortunately, most games play ok, but enough games have wonky audio that it's frustrating. I know Retropie is capable of playing Super Mario World without audio problems, so I'm dying to figure out why I'm having issues.

Just an idea, would overclocking my Pi make a difference?

I got 256gb using a photofast cr-5400 adapter and two 128gb micro sd cards;

Here's the adapter i use;

Here are the microsd cards i use;

As far as formatting them, I used the PSP itself to format them, I got 246gb after formatting.

When it comes to the photofast adapter, try to get the white one, as the company never made black photofast adapters and those are probably counterfeit. The two 128gb microsd cards i got from amazon for about $7 ($70 off by applying and getting approved for amazon credit card)

This is what so far has worked for me, I'm not sure about using other brand microsd cards

IMPORTANT SD CARD INFO BELOW (for people who want to make sense of all the different SD card ratings and speeds, I spent the past couple of hours reading up on them)
IF I AM WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING PLEASE REPLY SO I CAN FIX THIS POST

This thread is about the SanDisk Ultra PLUS SD Card. Which is an SDXC type SD card with a speed class U1.
C10 speed SD cards and U1 speed SD cards have the same max speed of 80MB/s, according to this chart on SD card speed.
https://www.pcper.com/files/imagecache/article_max_width/review/2015-10-08/SD-01.png
Some cards have both C10 and U1 listed as their speed. This is because SD cards have switched to a new speed rating system that starts with U for some reason.

Also on the SD card is the type of SD card it is. SD, SDHC, or SDXC. It is important to check if your device is compatible with the type of SD card you are purchasing. The card mentioned in this thread is an SDXC.

SanDisk recommends a different card for the Switch, an SDXC card with a C10 speed rating (same thing as U1)
http://pct1.sandisk.com/ProductList.aspx?DeviceID=23118
I wouldn't try any card that SanDisk hasn't posted on this page, but I'm pretty sure the card in this thread is compatible, as they are both SDXC and both the same speed.

You can tell the speed class of an SD card by looking for the Marks in this chart on the SD card.
https://www.apotelyt.com/i1/memory-card-speed-classes-960x640.jpg
These marks look like a letter C with a number inside, or a letter U with a number inside.

A real upgrade to the card mentioned in this thread would be a card with U3 speed, like this card
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-128GB-microSDXC-UHS-I/dp/B06XX3X9JD/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1510203877&sr=8-4&keywords=sandisk+extreme+128gb+microsdxc&dpID=41NX-cEef6L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

BUT, and this is important, THE SWITCH DOESN'T SUPPORT U3 SPEED.
http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22481/~/microsd-card-faq

According to this chart, U3 speed SD cards may still work on the Switch, but they will read at the same speed as a U1 card, possibly milliseconds slower. So, the U1 SD card mentioned in this thread, is probably the fastest speed the Switch can handle at the moment.
https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-best-micro-sd-cards-for-the-nintendo-switch/2900-1165/10/

I see some cards labeled A1, which is a new rating related to how quickly an SD card can load apps. I have no idea how this would apply to the Switch. The SD card mentioned in this thread might have an A1 rating as well, but it was made before SanDisk started putting that rating on cards.

u/jaykresge · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

While the "gaming" SD card moniker is overdone, there is value in getting a faster SD card in some cases. I'll use an example.

Here's the Nintendo Switch co-branded Sandisk MicroSD 128GB, currently going for $54.99 on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDXC-Nintendo-Switch-SDSQXAO-128G-GN6ZA/dp/B075RH8PTL

And here's the 128GB card that people often compare it to, also from Sandisk.

https://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-Ultra-128GB-Micro-Adapter/dp/B073JYC4XM

Wow, only $26! Who in their right mind would buy the Nintendo co-branded one for just over twice the price!?

The proper card to compare it to is this one from Sandisk.

https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-UHS-3-SDSQXAF-064G-GN6MA/dp/B06XX3X9JD

This is the same exact card as the Nintendo co-branded one, and comes with an SD to MicroSD adapter. It's also $43.79 at the time that I'm linking it.

It should be noted that prices fluctuate, and I bought the Nintendo one for ~$45 a week ago, while the non-branded one was ~$55.

Which one should a gamer get? Realistically, they should have near identical read speeds, and therefore, load times for games that are installed. The two more expensive options are faster at write speeds by a noticeable margin. This helps with game installs, larger saves, and any other write-based task. IE, most won't notice.

Most users should get the cheaper model. For those who think that they need the additional performance (I didn't, I was kidding myself), get the cheaper of the two similar Sandisk models, or a similar rated product from another brand that you trust.

There is no need to do all that on your Vita. You don't have a memory card in your Vita at all right now? Didn't know you could have henkaku installed without one on a Vita-1000. If you don't have one just buy a cheap 4GB PSVita memory card and an SD2Vita so you can use a microSD instead of the PSVita memory card once you get everything setup. The SD2Vita goes in your cartridge port.

https://www.amazon.com/Funturbo-Ultimate-Version-SD2Vita-Adapter/dp/B07F63FPT3

Then you can do the 3.60 hack on to your PSVita memory card following the guide at https://vita.hacks.guide. Then use the StorageMgr plugin (vita.hacks.guide shows how to set it up too) to use your microSD through the SD2Vita adapter.

I haven't done the Raspberry Pi myself, I use PC. Project Phoneix Media's youtube channel has a video showing how to set it up.

u/DARTH_Turd · 1 pointr/VitaPiracy

I have the OLED also, and this is the exact SD2Vita I purchased. The microSD fits very snug into the adapter, and the SD2Vita adapter fits nicely into your Vita slot. I have tested with both a 128gb Sandisk Ultra, and 256gb Samsung EVO. Good luck!

I'm happy to help answer answer anything I can for you Griff, I can finally pay it forward haha!

3.60 Enso is exactly where you want to be, any lower and some homebrew may not work correctly, Enso runs the initial hack everytime the device starts up, while with later versions of firmware require you to use the h-encore exploit every time the device reboots, so thats why 3.60 is so good!

To run your inital exploits on a 1000 series, a vita memory card is required since there is no internal memory on these models, after that, you can buy this adapter to use a micro sd card:

Funturbo Ultimate Version SD2Vita 5.0 Memory Card Adapter, PS Vita PSVSD Micro SD Adapter PSV 1000/2000 PSTV FW 3.60 HENkaku Enso System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F63FPT3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hc-JDb512743G

I use a samsung 128gb micro sd card with the sd2vita adapter, and it works very well! Once your on 3.60, you can reroute where the vita accesses memory, which we make it to the game slot for the sd2vita adapter, and everything runs from there!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Depends on your microSD card reading speed. You'll want to look at the high-range ones to read large 1080p / 3D movies. Here's an example of a class 10 straight from Amazon for reference. Otherwise some of the lower end microSD cards, while they can hold a lot, are not going to read a 1080p file fast enough to make it run clearly or well. Here's an example of a class 4 which will not run those files well.

u/smokehidesstars · 0 pointsr/buildapc

Something like this, I guess? https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSD-Memory-Adapter-MICROSD-ADAPTER/dp/B0047WZOOO

It's the size of a normal SD card, no added length. If a normal SD card sticks out, you're probably SOL on finding a smaller one.

u/oBLACKIECHANoo · 0 pointsr/photography

Well I think 32gb can have around 2000 RAW files, so 16gb is 1000 and 8gb is 500, maybe take a few pictures in RAW and see what the file sizes are and calculate it, but even if it came out to like 300 photo's on an 8gb card it would still be worth it as I doubt you would shoot that many in a day. But you can get even 32gb sandisk/lexar cards really cheap now so I would upgrade to those if possible, and if you want to do video you would need a decent write speed to keep up with 1080p 60 fps. This card for example is a really fast card with a lot of space and it's pretty cheap.

And if you have he option to shoot JPEG but a button will keep the RAW of that last image, that would be a good option for now, but you may also get photo's which you think aren't so great at the time but turn out good and then you may not have the RAW for it, which is why even a 16gb card would be good as that would be more than enough space for 1-2 days of taking a lot of pictures.

most low price micro SD card you see on amazing has 80 MB/s READ speed and 20 MB/s WRITE speed. They are between $20-$40. 64GB are usually under $30. Those speed are fine if you use it for basic stuff like using camera, storing music, etc.. I have a 128GB card from Samsung EVO+ and it has been great. WRITE speed is a little slow when I storing tons of movies on my phone for a long trip but other than that, 4k camera and burst mode have no issue with using that card or any card with the 20 MB/s WRITE speed.

Don't waste your money on the card with fast WRITE speed unless you really need it.
