Most of what I was taught came from Paul Toews, who specialized in Mennonite Brethren history, but wrote a pretty useful book on Mennonites in mid-20th-century America.

One of the foremost experts on the Amish/Mennonites, I'm aware of, is Donald Kraybill. He's written quite a few books on the topic, and "The Upside-Down Kingdom" is his argument for a strong Anabaptist theological viewpoint.

This book about Hutterites can be gotten for $0.01, but the shipping on all these awesome things are always what getcha!

I grew up going to Hutterite colonies when I was little, and I am fascinated by them!
