Hi Dad, Dad, Dad, and Dad. Dad here also. The screen protector I agree is a must have. Mario party and Mario cart are a must for Family fun. I completely agree. BOTW could be to complicated for him but then again, it could not be. Its Fun and I think he could grow into it.

Here is the case I use. It fits everything really well and I am super happy with it:

https://www.amazon.com/NINTENDO-SWITCH-DELUXE-SECURELY-COMPLETE-INCLUDING/dp/B01N23OP50/ref=sr_1_12?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1541442745&sr=1-12&keywords=Switch+Case

I use this when I travel on The plane also. It fits perfectly over the handle of my suitcase.

I was Xbox forever, started a new job on the road and decided to go for the switch as well for portability. Good choice.

Must Buys Accessories:

Screen protector - there is a 2 pack on amazon:

amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch 2017 (2-Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XMpaCbKXMWRXR

SD card (if going digital with games) - maybe go 256gb, amazon has a sale on them, you only need U1 speeds for the switch:

SanDisk 256GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-256G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0758NHWS8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GOpaCbW67RGST

Carrying cases - I have two, one for the whole collection (switch, joycons, dock, charger, hdmi):

AmazonBasics Travel and Storage Case for Nintendo Switch - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072C9BVTW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ePpaCbSBT7C1S

And one for the switch in handheld mode. I use both quite frequently:

Orzly Carry Case Compatible With Nintendo Switch - RED Protective Hard Portable Travel Carry Case Shell Pouch for Nintendo Switch Console & Accessories https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y6DYRXF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dQpaCbHY3E5B4

Pro controller - easier to play games in docked mode than the joycons.

Smash is out next Friday, but it looks like the best game of the year material.

Pokémon Let’s Go is a spin off, remake of yellow version, but it is a great game. Maybe not $60 great for gameplay, but for nostalgia. I’d say a fair price is around $40.

Games suggested:

Must Play Exclusives:

Zelda: BOTW (10/10) little bit of a learning curve, but open world game with 100+ hours of content

Super Mario Odyssey (9.5/10) very laid back and at times almost too easy, but overall very fun and creative. 30 hours of content

—————

Exclusives W/ Friends or Online:

Mario Kart 8 (9/10)

Super Mario Party Switch (8.5/10)

—————

Other Top Tier Exclusives:

Splatoon (8.5/10) (may be stressful online, but awesome game for both online play and “salmon runs”)

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (8.5/10) (tough game but such awesome level design, music; this game can become frustrating)

Mario Rabbids (8.5/10) (fun game, again, can become frustrating as it is a strategy, turn based game with Nintendo characters)

Pokémon Let’s Go (8.5/10) (fun game, super nostalgic trip back to the past of Pokémon origins but now in 3D with alolan forms)

We still don’t know about Super Smash Bros Ulitmate, but I can’t imagine it won’t be a 9 or 9.5 out of 10.

Golf story is the next exclusive game I’ll be getting some time down the road, very hit or miss with people however.

Disclaimer: I don’t really get non exclusives on switch, as I can get them on PC for cheap 9/10 times (except red dead). Also, I do not care for JRPG’s, so I can’t comment on Xenoblade, Octopath, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter etc.

As others have pointed out, indies are great for the Switch, not too demanding to require further CPU or GPU Power to hinder gameplay, but you will pay the “Nintendo tax”. This is that Nintendo hardly has sales on games. But the point of the Switch is gaming on the go, so it’s a good trade off. If that’s not your reasoning, then stick with indies on stronger consoles or PC.

Joycons are not too small, I would pair them with these if you want to use them single player (like Mario kart or Mario party):

Yes, but designed specifically for the Switch with a separate hard shell case and space for the dock, cables, etc. Something like what we're seeing in this old ad.

u/RoyalAquaBlue · 21 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I use the RDS Industries Nintendo Switch Game Traveler Deluxe Travel Case. It's $20 at Walmart and Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Game-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U/

It has room for cartridges under the system in little removable plastic boxes. I removed them. The pouch in the middle makes for nice padding. The case is fairly rigid, so I know I could drop my system and not fear it's safety.

Personally, this is what I plan to use forever when traveling with my switch. If I need more than this... like extra controllers and the dock... I'll use a second bag and load it up with all the extras and then use this case for the system and put that in the same bag.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the handle is great and makes carrying the system extra easy.

u/quartzkoi · 21 pointsr/PokemonLetsGo

It’s definitely bulky but not at all heavy! I enjoy it a lot! Definitely recommend if you dock your switch different places.

Ill build two routes handheld gaming and docked.

Docked

Switch - $300

Pro Controller -$65

Legend of Zelda BOTW - 44.99

Mario Kart 8 -$55

Total - $ 464.00

Handheld

Switch - $300

Legend of Zelda BOTW - 44.99

Nintendo Official Wall Charger - $28 (I choose this because I am very picky about power options with consoles and I know this will function)

Switch Case - $15 (This can be hit or miss a lot of people love butterfox but my two smelled like shit and opted for a better version, but for the price it is unbeatable, worth the risk of the smell)

Mario Kart 8 -$55

Total - $443

Games can be changed in and out but imo BOTW is the best game on the switch and Mario Kart 8 is loads of fun. I personally do not have a pro controller, mainly because I play strictly handheld but from what I have been told it is a must for docked gameplay.

Edit: In the future you are going to need a SD card. Especially if you are going the Digital route, again personally I prefer physical and the at of collecting the games but that is me.

The Tomtoc case is pretty good. It's very very sturdy and it's also the slimmest I found.

This is a case by PDP. I have found 3 in this style so far with different designs. Each can hold 14 game carts!

The one above (as part of the starter kit, also sold separately):
https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Nintendo-Switch-Starter-Kit/dp/B01N4NWKRI/ref=sr_1_9?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1484442095&sr=1-9&keywords=PDP+Nintendo+Switch

And my personal favourite, the BOTW design:

Im trying to find somewhere that I can order the Zelda version in the UK, hit me up if anyone finds somewhere!

EDIT: ARGOS now are selling the Zelda and Mario versions of this case

Zelda (for some reason different colour interior, maybe just lighting?): https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6772844

Mario: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6784131

EDIT: ARGOS now seem to have removed these cases from stock, leaving my preorder in limbo. The EU Gamestop site has two of them now though

You forgot:

  • I finally got a Nintendo Switch! Which accessories should I buy for it before it gets here? Most people recommend a screen protector and a carrying case. As for the most frequently recommended carrying cases, there's this one from RDS Industries and this one from Butterfox.

  • What's the biggest, cheapest, most reliable microSD card I can buy for the Switch? There's no best answer, but a lot of people on this sub recommend this one from Samsung.

  • Should I buy a Nintendo Switch? What about all of the problems I heard about? Maybe? I don't know. That's your call, friend. There are problems, as there are with any new piece of technology, but Nintendo has a great warranty with excellent customer support, and the issues aren't quite as widespread as it seems (people are most vocal when there's a problem; they typically won't say anything if there's nothing wrong).

  • What games are coming out for the Switch? There's a link in the sidebar on desktop, but for mobile users, check here.
u/RelaxYourself · 12 pointsr/nintendo

I ended up preordering [this one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS7AI9G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's simple and while it has the little patch on it, it doesn't exactly scream, "HEY EVERYONE I HAVE A NINTENDO SWITCH IN HERE". I honestly can't wait to travel on a plane with the Switch.

u/PDXBradley · 12 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have the officially licensed RDS one, it's great. I'm also not using it since I have a Skull & Co GripCase that came with its own carry case. If you live in the US, I'd be happy to send it to you free of charge. It's practically brand new. Take a look at the link, if you like it and want me to send it to you, you can PM me your info and I'll ship it today.

I use this one. The flap inside is just wide enough to protect the screen. And spacious enough.

u/RynoKenny · 12 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I prefer this Mario themed case with a more interesting design and better layout for your cartridges that you can see the titles of and not have to place into hard plastic cases and then shove into a zipperpouch that sits on top of the screen when closed (at least I think that's how it works)

u/TheLawlessMan · 12 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This is one of the best small hard cases that is not covered in tacky crap and available to Americans. Brits and Australians are getting all the good medium sized cases so I went with that ಥ_ಥ.

This is the one I really want.

u/Irrelevant231 · 10 pointsr/Switch

I personally have an Orzly tempered glass screen protector, but these are mostly useful against scratches; Nintendo opted for a plastic screen which can scratch very easily, whereas glass is more prone to cracking (I have heard that plastic won't do this as easily). Tempered glass, as the wikipedia article states that when broken, because of the way it is manufactured it will 'crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (a.k.a. annealed glass) does. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.' This should, therefore, protect the screen, and the worst case scenario isn't dangerous.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Screen-Protector-Nintendo-Switch-Tempered-2x-TRANSPARENT-Glass-Protectors/dp/B01N9RG3XS/

For something to protect it when in use, I have no personal experience. However, both my travel case and screen protector are from Orzly, and they appear very high quality, the screen protector had a very helpful tutorial video on youtube regarding application, and a few days after ordering I got a helpful email with tips for application. Because of this, I am inclined to believe they have high standards, so I am not surprised that their grip case is Amazon's choice for "Nintendo Switch grip". The description mentions impact resistance, and it has very positive reviews and several questions answered. Because of this, I highly suggest you have a look at the Amazon page yourself.

Hey /r/NintendoSwitch, I've been using a packing cube for traveling with my switch, and wanted to share how well it's worked for me. I keep most of this stuff together as a "go bag" and it's really helped keep all my stuff organized. It has made it really easy to just grab this and go, I highly recommend.

With it I've been able to pack all of this into a single pack, about 3/4ths the size of a shoebox:

  • My Nintendo Switch (w/ Joy-Con attached)
  • A Small Switch Case
  • Three additional pairs of Joy-Con
  • Two Pro Controllers
  • Two of extra Joy-Con straps (for set attached to Switch)
  • Nintendo Switch Dock Set (TV dock, power cable, usb c-to a charging cable)
  • HDMI cable

I photoshopped out the label from the brand for the cube, because I didn't want this to look like hailcorporate material (I put a link below). This cube is approx 11" x 7" x 5" ( 28 x 18 x 13 cm) and ends up fitting all of this snugly, so I'd recommend trying similar dimensions if you give it a shot. It actually fits so perfectly that I have barely any shifting of the contents. I also find that it doesn't put any strain on my switch itself, however it's typically not in the bag. This one has loops on the sides, so I used cable ties to keep the cords organized, an added bonus.

The cube is a Patagonia "Black Hole Cube 6-L", but any other brand's cube of similar size would probably work out fine. Being able to include a case was a must, the Nintendo Switch Premium Travel Case for Console and Games" by PDP is a *perfect* fit, however it's not my preferred case.

It's been a really nice travel option for me, so I figured I'd share.
u/k_Reign · 10 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I've been absolutely loving this one: https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U/

You can get it for I think $25 in stores. It's not huge and it's really tough so you don't need to worry about throwing it around.

u/WendigoZero17 · 10 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

These are the best cases for handheld consoles

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Game-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U

I have the traveler case for my gba, ds, dsi, dsi xl, 3ds, N3DS XL, PSP, Vita, and now switch. They're super rugged, and they will hold 12 games and a charging cord. There's molded cutouts for the triggers on the joycons to keep them from wearing out in the case. You'll get lots of recommendations for the overpriced butterfox case, but this a better case for less money. This thing is a tank.

u/Galen640 · 10 pointsr/Switch

First of all: Screen Protector. Once it's on you never notice it, doesn't hurt to get that extra safety!

I've bought 10 games so far, and I'd say get all of these because I have enjoyed them. BOTW, Splatoon 2, Sonic Mania, Rayman Legends, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (assuming you like DBZ,) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokken Tournament DX, Street Fighter 2 Ultra, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Yooka Laylee.

If I had to pick 3 for you to get to start out then I would pick Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I think that's enough variety to keep you busy for awhile.

A carrying is always a good thing, I'd recommend This case because it's the one I use and does its job.

Accessory wise I have joycon grips which are AMAZING when playing with one joycon.

Also, the grip it comes with is trash. Get the Power A Grip it feels A LOT better in your hands.

As for SD Cards, it depends. I have a 32GB SD card. I mainly buy physical games, The extra space is for screenshots and videos, and download only games, like Sonic Mania, Yooka Laylee, etc. If you're going for digital only then get a 256GB. Sure you won't use a ton of space now, but you might a few years down the line. Also, do NOT get the official Nintendo ones. They are a RIP-OFF! Here are some nice alternatives that will get the job done for A LOT cheaper: 32 GB 64 GB 128 GB and finally 256 GB

If you have any other questions feel free to ask OP, and other (potential) switch owners!

Quick edit: sorry that some links won't be put with the text, no idea what the issue is

u/DanTheMan827 · 9 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

For me, I plan on getting:

  • Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Obviously!)
  • PDP Nintendo Switch Premium Console Case - Zelda Edition
  • Extra charger and cable (waiting on the exact details for what's needed power-wise)
  • Glass screen protector

After Launch:(I already have these on pre-order through Amazon, 20% off!)

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Redout
  • Splatoon 2
  • Super Mario Odyssey

I'm also a backer for Yooka-Laylee, so I'll get that whenever they release a Switch version.

I was contemplating going all-digital but then I found out about the Amazon Prime discount. On my games, I saved $55.07 by just buying the physical copy.

You really gotta wonder how Amazon makes any money on Prime subscriptions... I order items all the time that are below the normal free shipping amount...

well, when I put my switch in my case the right way - sticks up - (the official nintendo one https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Screen-Protector/dp/B01N226BBW/) there is zero stress on the joy con sticks. I imagine when you put it in this one the flap will be pressing down on them when you transport it in your bag

Wait, your commuting time is 5 hours of your life each day? Sorry, but that sounds miserable and you should really think about a lifestyle change.

Sometimes I take my Switch on the bus and use a slim case so it doesn't take up much room in my laptop backpack. Works well for me. I've taken it with me off and on since launch day with zero problems.

I would imagine something like this would work just fine: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Protective-Ballistic/dp/B01MY9JB2U/

u/osrs_h1n1 · 8 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Going Physical for all games that are released that way. This way if I invest in a game that turns out to be sour (they're all sour if you lick them) I can trade it in or sell it. If you buy digital, you're stuck with it.

I'm rocking the RDS travel case which has 8-slots for games. So dealing with the cartridges isn't a big deal and I love displaying my video game boxes on my shelf.

Edit: I also have Amazon Prime, so all of my pre-orders and games that have been out less than 2 weeks are 20% off. So the games I want at launch I get cheaper than buying digitally.

I bought this Nintendo Switch Case and it carries up to 8 games with it plus two SD card cases that would each fill in one of those 8 game slots. Very nifty!

I rarely take my 3DS with me at all. But when bringing my games along, I had a separate case for that one too.

RDS and Nintendo make some great hard cases, but there is another case that a lot of companies have copied from eachother that was well done... Surge being one of them. They are a little softer and don't have a carry handle, but are still great cases.

Commenting again since my link was flagged by an auto-mod.

This case is the one I'm picking up. Doesn't have indents for triggers, but it's hardshell and come with some game card and SD card cases as well.

Definitely a Screen Protector

A Travelling Case would be nice.

I also added Dr Scholls Moleskin to the front of my dock to reduce the risk of scratching the screen protector. (Two small strips on the parts inside the dock that are raised.)

A Memory Card also helps for the digital only games.

What color Switch did you get? I got the grey switch then bought a pair of Red Joycons and another pair of Blue Joycons. So in total I have a grey, red, and blue L Joycon and a grey, red, and blue R Joycon.

If you got the grey switch and then buy the [two color Joycon packs] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753597&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+joycons) then you won't be able to get one of each color for L/R without over paying. This is because the [two color Joycon packs] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753597&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+joycons) are always Red L and Blue R.

If you bought a neon switch, then buy the [two color Joycon pack] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Con-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753597&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+joycons) and a pair of Grey Joycons for all combinations.

Also, don't buy Joycons on Amazon, they are stupid expensive right now.

I don't have a pro controller yet, but people seem to love it.

Games:

Zelda = Must Buy

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe = Must Buy

1-2 Switch = Great for parties/friends

Snipperclips = Great for people who don't play games often (girlfriends/parents/kids). Secret here is to not explain how to play/what to do and let them have fun and try to figure out the puzzles on their own. Act like a support character and you'll have a blast watching them.

Binding of Isaac = I love this game, but put countless hours on the PC version. Mature themes

Super Bomberman R = Classic mode with easy CPUs is fun for roommates. I haven't played through the adventure mode yet.

Wonderboy = Cute/Fun side scroller.

Has Been Heroes = I don't have this yet, apparently very difficult.

Other notes:

I started collecting amiibos after getting a switch (Be very careful, it's easy to get addicted and drop a ton of money here).

I got a Joycon charging dock since the only way to charge extra pairs of Joycons without the Joycon charging dockis to rotate them in and out of the switch while it charges/docked.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

PS I love the Switch so much. It's definitely my favorite console ever.

The Sheikah case from the Special Edition, but i am really REALLY interested in the one from Surge.

I may switch to this case, actually. Thanks, OP.

u/i_noah_guy98 · 7 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You cannot save copies of physical games to the Nintendo Switch. You can either go digital or get a carrying case that has game storage in it, like this one.

u/-CMYKey · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Does there happen to be any pictures of the interior of the Official Switch Carrying Case floating around?

u/Mudkip1 · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Get the Pro Controller for sure, as well as a Case to travel with. I bought this Case and have been pretty pleased with it.

There's also a larger version of this Case which fits the Switch Dock, Chargers, and additional Joycons. I kinda want this one but haven't bought it yet.

u/Hippobu2 · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Personally, for me, I believe that the best case is the Sheikah Slate that comes with BotW SE. EB and Best Buy both said that they will have it, so be on the look out for them, cuz amazon is out.

The same case, with different designs, is made by PDP. You can get them via these links: 1, 2, 3, 4.

This one is quite close to the Sheikah Slate as well, but it doesn't ship to where I am, so I'm not sure it would ship to you.

PDP also has this amazing looking soft canvas cases if you're interested: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

You could also go with Hori hard case, which is ugly af, but looks extremely sturdy. But then the actual case from Nintendo (it's not available yet, just wait for it I guess?) is quite close to the Hori one as well, I guess.

I'm throwing all those links at you, because, I have NO idea who Biogenik are and a quick Google doesn't result in anything positive about them.

As for screen protector, for me generally, any film protector would make the screen look worse. They are also a lot more likely to get scratches than the screen alone. I'd recommend a tempered glass screen protector if you get one at all. Here are some, one from Orzly, and one from CaseBase. Orzly seems like the better choice since you get 2, and their other tempered glass protectors are very highly rated.

I love my tomtoc slim case. It really is ultra thin as advertised, but it is extremely durable in case you drop it. I also like it has specific spaces for buttons and sticks, because when coupled with its durability you don’t have buttons being pushed with pressure (something I have noticed that happens with other cases).

I’ve traveled with it numerous times. No complaints whatsoever.

u/knightfader · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Besides the console and Zelda: BOTW which I both have preordered, I plan to buy the PDP console case and a tablet mount so I can hang the tablet from my bedframe while I play. Because lazy.

u/Alexx51 · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

A lot of people like to wet themselves over the butterfox case. I got the RDS one for $25. I really like it. The main difference is that you get 2 hard shell cases for your games rather than keeping them loose under an elastic band. You can only hold 8 at a time though so I suppose that's the compromise.

I use an official Nintendo licensed case. Nintendo Switch Game Traveler Deluxe Travel Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_B-wGzbAFBH15E
Quality is fantastic and design is good imo. Sticking to licensed products can be nice.

u/butt-guy · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Man...I'm a big fan of the PDP premium gray case. But I'm pretty excited to see what Waterfield comes up with because a leather case sounds dope. Too bad it'll cost at least $60 though.

u/STUNT1990 · 5 pointsr/nintendo

Not sure but this is PDP's Switch "case" (also on BotW version) and, by the looks of it, it's just a semi rigid pouch.

I'm probably getting this one once I can see it in person or a nice review; it looks like it will have some kind of foam (as shoulder buttons would tilt the switch and yet it seems to be in a horizontal position) and I think it's made by the same company as a pretty similar looking NES mini case.

u/GooseRider960 · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Reposting this because it got buried in the last thread.

I need help on deciding a case. I've narrowed it down to four, but I suppose if none of them are great, I could go for a fifth option.

Protection is a big thing here, so if any of these are flimsy, let me know.

u/ewzzy · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I fully recommend the RDS hard case https://www.amazon.com/NINTENDO-SWITCH-DELUXE-TRAVEL-CASE-MULTI-GAME/dp/B01MY9JB2U

My Switch feels totally safe in there. I don't trust soft cases. They'll protect your screen but the sticks on the joycons are easy to break through the case.

u/SoloWaltz · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

It's this one.

I specifically looked for a good one for my upcoming travel.

u/UnfoldingTime · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

And added pro, IMO, is that you can choose between the standard black, Mario Kart or several different Zelda options for this case. I got the Mario Kart one with my bundle and it's a really nice case for the $20 price tag.

u/ke5pay · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

It is not dockable. The case adds about a third to the thickness however it does fit in the case I have and I believe it will fit most other cases. Having said that it takes up enough space that you cannot fit as much in the case, for mine I can get a cord in the pouch but only a small AC adapter. I am personally using this adapter in order to "dock" the unit and treating my joycons as non-removable as it is a bit of a bother to take the case off.

u/StephenDawg · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

The Orzly case is pretty cool. It holds 8 games and the Switch is secured in place with elastic straps. https://www.amazon.com/Orzly-Carry-Case-Compatible-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01NAUKS62

u/Bubo_scandiacus · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

TomToc Slim Hard Case bro

Myself I like thin cases and not bulky buy yet it protects when I throw it in my backpack. So Tomtoc has been my case since day one.

u/mediokrek · 5 pointsr/splatoon

I have the same one with a Breath of the Wild design and I can not reccomend it enough. All the other cases I kept seeing everywhere were crappy soft cases that I wasn't confident carrying my switch around in, but this one is really solid. I've been lugging it around everywhere for the past 2 months and it's held up great.

u/leialeilani · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I’ve got the Sheikah Eye traveler case in blue. It holds the Switch plus joy cons (has indentations for the back of the joy cons to rest in too), 8 game carts (or 6 plus 2 micro SD cards), and the top has enough room for my earbuds and probably a small battery and charging cable too. It’s really cute and sturdy, and I’d definitely recommend it for your girlfriend.

u/Lady_Rebellium · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'm probably gonna get this as my "all my crap" bag: https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-System/dp/B01N23OP50/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1486192302&sr=1-2&keywords=nintendo+switch+rds

It looks like a nice, compact size with nice little compartments for stuff and cart/sd cases. I'm not sure what the inside of the backpack looks like yet, but I'm wary of all my things flying around everywhere.

But for when I don't want all my crap, I like this small Surge case, for when I go to work and stuff.

u/Rajani_Isa · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch
  1. if buying in store, watch an unbox video then when buying it check the console in-store to make sure everything looks alright. Just in case, due to the fact that the boxes are not sealed (unless that's changed).

  2. As said, set up the account, update, download the game if digital, etc.

  3. Screen protector and case are always good. Case wise you have ones like this, this, or this.

I'm going with the Nintendo Switch Carry-All Case by Surge.

Here's why I like it:

  • It's got a hard, structured exterior so it won't get squished while in my bag.

  • It's got a microfiber interior.

  • It has elastic straps to keep my Switch from moving around inside the case.

  • It holds 8 games and has a mesh pocket for the Joy-Con straps.

  • It's only $12.99.

All that seemed pretty good to me so I'm going to give it a shot.

I ordered the RDS travel case:

https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U

The reason is simple. I travel quite a bit for work. I am going to toss this in my backpack and slog it thru the airport. It seems to be a little thicker and provide a little more protection than other ones.

And it looks nice.

u/OckhamsFolly · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

So, let me get this straight. You are looking for a hard, shock resistant case that snaps on to your Switch, over the screen, when not in use. In theory, something like this slim case, except instead of a padded zippered pouch, it would just be the front part made out of hard plastic on the outside (presumably with a soft silicone interior to absorb) and would snap onto the Switch, covering the screen and controllers. Is this correct?

Because I am pretty sure the thing I described does not exist.

Edit: Would something like this, which does not cover the screen, work?

u/Oseirus · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

A few disclaimers:

I know I'm late to the punch, and I apologize. I also know I'm going to look like a crazy person for throwing so many items at you, so I apologize for that as well. I may also seem vaguely arrogant by the end of this, so please accept a third apology. I just like to take care of my electronics is all. My only credentials are anecdotal evidence that despite my rather rough job I've never even so much as cracked the screen on my cell phone so I like to think I'm pretty good at the "how do I prevent breakages" question.

Okay. So, I'm gonna rattle off a few items that I've bought for my own Switch, and my reasoning behind them. You DO NOT have to buy all of these items, but they are all useful on some level for the console.

The Joy-Con Controller If you're looking to get a second controller, start here. I'm sure you've figured out by now that one Joy-Con (JC) can be reconfigured to work as two controllers, so simply by buying a second JC you're now able to hit the 4-player local maximum for many of the Switch's games (including Mario Kart!). You can get the spouse, another kid, or even some friends playing during a party.

The Switch Pro Controller A more traditional-style controller. It's slightly cheaper and it's much more comfortable on large hands, but it CANNOT be split into two separate controllers like the Joy-Con can. Well, unless you get a saw or something but then it won't work at all anymore. Besides that it does function exactly the same as the standard JC controllers. There is also a wired version available that is even cheaper, but I personally have become spoiled in this wireless age and don't like cables dangling across my living room anymore.

Fitian Charging Dock for Joy-Cons Pretty self explanatory. Normally you charge your Joy-Cons by plugging them into the Switch, but if you have a second (or more) JC, it becomes a slight hassle to keep them all charged up. A charging dock can be a godsend. This is the one I use, simply plug it straight into your Switch Dock via USB.

FastSnail Joy-Con Grips There's a gazillion different versions of these things floating around, but these are the ones I personally use. I like them cause the shoulder L/R buttons are massive, and the grippy parts are really comfortable for extended use. Simply stick your Joy-Con halves into the plastic holders for a more comfortable grip. Holds them securely but they're still easy to pop back out as needed, no latches or screws or anything.

Orzly Carry Case ONE option for a carrying case. I was a little hesitant to recommend this particular item, but I may as well cause again, it's the one I use. The case itself is fine: durable, carries your Switch plus some games and accessories, and keeps them safe through your standards drops and bumps. However, if you fill it up as much as is shown in the pictures there on Amazon... At best you're gonna feel like you're mashing something, at worst you're gonna have trouble zipping it closed. What I've ended up doing is putting my Switch with an attached set of JCs, the games, and my adjustable stand (see next item) into the case, and then tossing the case plus whatever other particular accessories I need into my backpack. This case is NOT good to haul a lot of Switch stuff, JUST the console itself plus a handful of small bits for maybe a day trip or something. If you want to carry everything, look elsewhere. I've seen a few cases mentioned, but I can't recommend anything as I haven't tried anything.

Younik Compact Adjustable Stand I love this thing. If you're playing on the go and don't feel like holding it (and don't trust that stupid little kick stand on the back), you can unfold this thing and prop up the Switch on any flat surface for a much more comfortable viewing able. When you're done with it, you can fold it back flat and it fits nicely pretty much anywhere (like, for example, in the Orzly case I mentioned previously). Nintendo makes a first-party adjustable stand, but I actually like this one better. It costs a couple dollars less and feels sturdier. Its a luxury item to be sure, but it's nice to have when you want it.

Findway Protective Case A protective "jacket" for the Switch itself. I like this one because it snaps on and off of the Switch and JCs super easily, and is a sort of bendable plastic. Only 3 pieces: one for the tablet, and then one piece each for the left and right JCs. Easy to clean, too. Only drawback is that you HAVE to remove the jacket any time you want to dock the Switch in its charger. However, you're going to find that this is the case for any jacket that you want to buy for your Switch. You do NOT need to remove the jacket if you're simply sticking it in the aforementioned Adjustable Stand.

Pleson Tempered Glass Screen Protector Not much explanation needed here. I'm neurotic about getting screen protectors for all of my portable electronics, and I love the tempered glass ones. This one is cheap, it's durable, and it's easy to install with a steady hand. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend, even if only to keep your Switch looking nice through the wear and tear. You won't need to remove it for the dock, unlike the jacket.

I think that's everything for now. Again, I know it's a lot being thrown at you all at once, but you don't have to buy everything. This is all just stuff I've amassed for my own Switch that I've found useful or that I recommend. Pick and choose as you see fit. Feel free to shop around as well, these are just examples of all the particular items and there are MANY choices available for almost everything listed.

If you have any questions, I'm always happy to help.

Yep! I used the foam from the box it came in, just cut the ends off and trimmed the corners to fit. I will probably pick up some craft glue tomorrow to affix it in a more permanent manner.

There's an orzly case that will work as well.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAUKS62/

This was the one I initially tried before I dug the spare out of my closet. It's identical in shape and size to the one I used.

u/MeghanBoBeghan · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

In that case, this one is very popular and the brand is well-regarded:

When I have to take a lot of stuff with me, like the Switch, the 2DS, wallet and more; I usually carry it in my NES bag. For the Switch itself, I have a Orzly case, it's pretty good, I can fit my stick grids replacements, my SD card with the adapter, the Joy Cons wrist straps, my screen cleaner cloth and my earbuds; basically all I need and use.

Works well for the money with some storage for accessories.

Hard enough to protect in a bag.

I'm not sure where on this subreddit I saw this, but they recommended the Orzly Carying Case. Holy smokes do I love this case! Very sturdy, sleek, and discreet!

The switch definitely has the possibility for many accessories. I'll link all the stuff I've bought at the end because I would recommend all of them

There is built in storage but not enough. I will recommend any micro SD card that's either 64 or 128 gb depending on how many games you plan on downloading. If you're going mostly mobile eshop games would definitely be more convenient.

As for other items, I love my pro controller but its not a necessity. I also only use it at home so it might not be for you.

You need a case for it, no two ways about it. The good news is that they are pretty cheap. There's cases that just carry the console, that carry the console and some extras, and that carry pretty much everything you could want to carry. Unless you're taking the dock often, I would just suggest a case with some extra storage.

I'd suggest a battery bank. There are a million options out there, and most of it has to do with cost. Just buy a size you like from a trusted brand like anker, ravpower, or aukey.

You also need a screen protector, because the plastic screen is not exactly durable. Anything works, but I would recommend tempered glass.

I wouldn't trust anything other than a certified Nintendo charger.

u/queuebitt · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Those kind of products are more about convenience than being the best option.

You definitely want a screen protector. The amFilm 2-pack is considered the best around here.

You also want a carrying case. I recommend either the Hestia Goods or Butterfox models. I have the former and love it. The later is the most recommended around Reddit.

Between the screen protector and case from Amazon you're at the same $20 as the starter kit. So you can either get two high quality items, or more lower (but doable) quality items.

When I got my Pantone swatch books, they came in a plastic carry case/ box. I just transport them in that when I need to.

I have also seen seen people keep them in black Pantone book sleeves, but I can't find them online anywhere.

If you can't find something actually meant for them, a third party Nintendo switch case might work pretty well, and they are pretty cheap.

Hope you find something. Good luck.

I got one made by Zadii that seems like pretty good quality If you're looking for a hard travel case that has room for your dock and a pro controller in addition to the seperate joycon controller plus console itself. Plus it has a holder for 21 cartridges and still has some room for something to be put in the mesh pocket that lines the lid.
I haven't actually had a chance to travel extensively with it yet, but my experience with day to day use like if I want to take it into work to played docked on the break room TV is pretty good so far.

So, I've had a few cases by now, but usually I find when I want to go out with my Switch, I just need the console itself and a couple games at most.

Therefore I've fallen in love with this Tomtoc Slim Hardshell Case.

It's really perfect and form fitting, super tiny, tough and looks good. 5/5.

u/golfer44 · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I had your same concerns but I have had the RDS grip for about six months now and have no issues with those two tabs. I constantly take it on and off and throw it in my backpack all the time by itself and it is still in great shape and shows no signs of breaking. When I travel I keep my switch in the following case and keep the goplay grip just thrown in my bag along with everything else.

The basic officially licensed carrying case and the screen protector that comes with it: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Screen-Protector/dp/B01N226BBW

I use both every day and have zero complaints about them. Not super flashy, but serve their purpose perfectly.

The protector does have a scratch now, but well, that's its purpose after all. I might replace it at some point by a new one, but for now it's only noticeable when the screen's off.

Other than that, I have lots of Joy-Con so I bought this charging station: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Charging-Station-Nintendo-Switch-Controllers/dp/B07348JQ3L

I chose that one because I can put the Joy-Con in them with their strap still attached. I just have to slide the strap halfway up and then I can insert the controller in the charger no problem. That way I don't have to keep the straps somewhere else and reattach them when I'm gonna use the Joy-Con.

I usually have two Joy-Con permanently on my Switch (I play handheld 99% of the time), four single Joy-Con on the charging station for multiplayer sessions, and another two Joy-Con on a Charging Grip for TV mode. But if you're a heavy TV mode user, a Charging Grip is probably not worth it and you should go for a Pro Controller or similar.

u/e0f · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Like most people said, getting the Switch and Zelda is just fine. If he buys games physically like I do (easy to trade games I don't like) you won't be needing an SD card.

What I would recommend is $20 official Nintendo brand carry case (link) that comes with a screen protector. It fits the portable console and few game cards in a really slim case that is good for bus rides and such. Plastic screen film is enough for the possible wear from repeatedly docking the station

u/pretenderist · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch
u/Cedocore · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

What do y'all think of the messenger bag or backpack? I'm tempted to go for one just so I have room for my pro controller, although I'm not sure the bag will have space for it. The backpack specifically mentions being able to store a pro controller, while the bag does not.

That's pretty cool but I think I've seen it in Datablitz SM Megamall, weeks ago. Maybe it was a different brand, but I question the necessity of this considering you'll either be carrying the Switch in a travel case when it's out, or leaving it in its dock at home. And speaking of the dock, you'll have to remove the case every time you want to dock the Switch. Bit of a hassle if you plan on switching modes a lot.

>Messenger Bag (since I'm always moving weekly)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N22YAIP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_rhGlzb5Z4BRJ7

Datablitz carries this HORI travel bag for the Switch, which I bought for myself and it does a good job carrying the console, dock, HDMI cable, power adapter, and Joycon grip with extra Joycon attached. The dividers on the inside are modular and can be moved around to suit your packing style. It's about half the price of the messenger bag, and you can still stuff it into a backpack for portability (which is how I carry it around when I do need to bring everything, though that's only happened twice).

>Case (sana meron dito nito)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_shGlzbTK8JKQZ

There are cases here though none that I've seen which have handles. This isn't an issue though if you've already got a bag or backpack to carry it in, which I highly recommend doing anyway; carrying a Nintendo-branded bag/case around, especially one tailor-fit for the Switch, is just begging to be stolen.

While I don't agree with the necessity of some of these accessories, my Switch use case may very well differ from yours (when you eventually do decide to get it). So if you still think those exact items are the ones you really need to get, then I'd suggest using a shipping forwarder like Jinio (Xend-owned), My-ShoppingBox (FICI-owned), or Shippingcart (LBC-owned) to receive and ship your orders directly to you. I've used all three and they're generally equally reliable.

u/Lievan · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This Is the one I'm getting soon. People seem to really like it.

u/lazzystinkbag · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Let's be real. Unplugging your Dock and hooking it up takes a grand total of 10-30 seconds. It's not the end of the world. I do it all the time it's why I purchased a carrying bag.

Grey Switch, Pro Controller, BotW Standard, extra AC adapter, Everywhere Messenger Bag (because it comes with a hard zippered case for the gamepad AND I can store everything else in it).

Will probably order 1, 2 Switch before launch. I also want to get a Micro SD card but want to see how big the game files on the eShop (or whatever it may be called) are before I decide on capacity.

u/mled203 · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

u/IwataFan · 3 pointsr/nintendo

With screen protectors you really want to go with tempered glass. Starter kits are a nice deal, but you do get what you pay for when it comes to screen protectors; such is life.

For a screen protector, I along with the rest of Reddit it seems have settled upon this screen protector as being the absolute best. I even had Best Buy Geek Squad install it to virtually guarantee proper installation, and it looks absolutely fantastic. I had the chance to play for a few weeks without it and personally think it actually makes the screen look better.

For a case I would go the RDS Industries route and get either this or even this larger case that can fit all the related Switch accessories.

u/Archlicht · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you like the minimalist look, I suppose so. I've got the BotW SE case coming, but I'm still tempted by this for the overall package: https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-System/dp/B01N23OP50/

It can hold the dock, power cable, hdmi, mine and my boyfriends switch (one in the dock with joy-cons detached), 1 pro controller, 6 total joy-con with the straps, charging cable for the pro controller, and it comes with little game cases. It's not super big either.

u/MildlyShadyPassenger · 3 pointsr/Switch

BotW is FANTASTIC!! It's incredibly immersive and looks gorgeous! There's a ton of things to do, and unlike some games with that option, I never get the feeling of obligation to do the side stuff. You WANT to go do it.

Now for the Switch. First things first, order a screen protector. The thing isto be a portable game system, so you'll want to take it places without worrying about meant damage. I didn't, and now have a small scratch on the screen (possibly from the dock, probably from carrying it in a bag with a bunch of other stuff). A tempered glass screen protector will prevent that. I'd also recommend a carrying case although until they get a bunch of games released on cart, that's not so much of a necessity.

My Switch performs WONDERFULLY as a portable system. If still looks fantastic, and I get comparable play time to a 3DS (my standard for portable battery life). BotW and the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire both looked fantastic on the big screen in docked mode. I have noticed some frame lag here and there on BotW, but it's never had much impact on my play experience. Usually I only see it during "busy" times on screen (lots of trees & tall grass during heavy particulate weather effects such as a rain storm), and the recent update smoothed that out nicely.

The Switch also charges pretty quickly using it's charger (or a comparable power output charger). I have a 2A charger for cell phones in me car and USB C cable and it will keep it charged while playing on road trips (NOTE: it does not recharge it while playing, it just keeps the battery where it's at when you plug it in.)

Overall, BotW and the Switch are a definite recommend for purchase.

u/TemptedTemplar · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I would definitely get a screen protector, I recommend the AmFilm Matte this protector reduces the glare and makes the system much better in a car or outside.

Also a carrying case. I went with this Surge case it's a good quality case that holds the system with the Joy-cons, 8 games and has a pouch for earbuds or a cable.

I also have a RavPower 26800 portable charger. This one is available for $64 and charges the system very well and is by far the highest capacity for the price.

I would definitely also get a microSD card you can get 64Gb for about $20 and 128 GB for $40. If you plan on going fully digital I would suggest a 200 or 256 gb card but they cost significantly more.

Good case for Nyko Docking Kit?

I have the $20 Switch Deluxe carrying case I'm very happy with it, and the material. It's very durable.

It's just not deep enough. I'm wanting something that I can use to carry the Switch, 2 extra joycons + straps, Nyko dock, charger, and hdmi cable. I don't want that bigger suitcase of a case that is meant for the standard dock.

Anyone have an suggestions?

u/OedipusR3x · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

The RDS Industries case seems to be a favorite. Comes with little plastic cases that hold the games and micro SD cards. Also more form fitting for the switch than most cases.

u/Forstride · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I decided on this one for my replacement: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U

The "mesh" style exterior looks a lot nicer than the single-colored cases (Especially since the colors they use for most of them look terrible). Also, I like that it doesn't have game card slots built in, since I'll likely be going digital now that my Master Edition was cancelled (Which was one of main the reasons I decided to go physical, since I didn't want to mix and match physical/digital).

I love this one.

Very small and compact so either good or bad depending on what you want. This cannot hold the dock, AC adapter, etc...but holds the console+joycons perfectly with room for eight cartridge games. Also has a mesh pouch I put the joycon straps in. Perfect for light travel. But, the semi hardshell case and nice, thick zipper feels very protective and high quality.

u/parad0xchild · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you're saying 2 pairs of joycons (2 left, 2 right) - the Nintendo travelers case works. This one

You just put 1 pair (with straps attached) in the left/right spot, with the pouch between them, then put the console in the other side (screen facing inwards of the case). Put the other 2 straps in the little bag.

u/camkeys · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you don't need to fit the charger in the case there's a general consensus on this one

u/lansdead · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I honestly wouldn't be bummer about what you got. The Special edition would have come at the cost of overpaying and the case isn't much better than a lot of others on the market. For something similar, and in my opiton a bit cleaner I recommend grabbing a RDS case - affordable really durable and has tons of game slots. https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=D1AGFT1YXZN08DTXNDN4

Not sure if anyone caught the lower profile "Switch" version of the the RDS Deluxe Travel case towards the bottom right, but it looks sick. Saw the review of the Zelda version on Youtube, and it checks all of the boxes for me: Semi-hard case, trigger indentations, zipper pouch, padded screen cover, compact, fairly low profile. Was going to go with the Surge case, but the light grey exterior was a little blah imo. Here are the point of references:

this bag seems decent. Could probably hold two grips or two pro controllers. Definetly room for more joycons, as well as the switch, dock, and some cables. You can even move the dividers.

Otherwise, in the realm of compact just switch:

I originally bought a Bigben case that allows you to stick the screen below (without joycons) and tuck joy cons into a mesh bag on top. There's space for about 4 games, and the usb power brick. Hard plastic. Feels really sturdy. I love it. Except, not great if you to quickly play and quickly put it away. And it's fairly thick. I just want something I can put in my purse and be off.

Eventually I bought the special Zelda case from PDP. No need to take the joycons off before putting it away, quick in and out. And it's also thin, which is really nice. When travelling I can just keep the power cord in my luggage because I don't always have power on the train anyway, and the battery usually lasts fine. But, the case is a little flimly and buttons are probably being pushed.

Now, I'd prefer something hard plastic, like the bigben, but I'd like thinner like PDP.

I tend to think that screen protectors are generally unnecessary on glass devices. There's a chance that in the case of impact on the screen, it might save your device, but it's a pretty limited range of impacts that will shatter a glass screen protector but not the screen itself.

As far as scratches go, I'm on my third smartphone at this point, and before that I had an original iPod touch. On all those devices, the only one I've ever managed to scratch at all is the iPod. And even that was a tiny scratch.

I am relatively careful with my phones (I don't shove them in my pocket with my keys like a monster, for example), but I'm not doing anything that I see as being out of the ordinary, either. I use them, and I take them with me just about everywhere (including day hikes); I just don't abuse them.

I also oversee a 1:1 iPad deployment at work, where we give them to high school students. A lot of ours are in Otterboxes that we provide which cover the screens, but we have a fair number that aren't (and the first year we did it, we used a different case). I've only seen a very very few of those that kids managed to scratch. And they're rough on things. (We do have a moderate number of broken screens each year, but these are careless high schoolers.) Even on our iPads in carts at the elementary and middle schools, where I've seen glitter and art supplies and various other things on the screens, I don't think I've seen any scratches (and we've had no broken ones). So take that for what it's worth.

I think that if you get an inexpensive case for the Switch for when it's riding around in your bags or when it's not in use, it'll probably be fine.

u/mattdel190 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I bought this one - Nintendo Switch Premium Console Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS7AI9G/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_aq0mzbC2BTEF5
Not too impressed with the quality of inside the case.

Thanks! The Switch case is [this one] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS7AI9G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_zYK-yb3N0G6J7). I got it due to it's compact nature, plus it comes with 14 cartridge pockets. So far, no complaints about it.

u/Veetea · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

My list for launch is:

  • Pro Controller
  • Samsung EVO mSDXC card (200 - 256GB)
  • This particular carrying case

I might impulse buy a set of red and blue neon Joy-Cons if I see 'em floating around at launch, but I don't think they'll be essential accessories right off the bat -- between the Pro Controller and included Joy-Cons, that's three controllers right there.
u/martinskrtel · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

this guy goes through some thoughts! particularly about good SD cards and the Pro Controller and JoyCon accessories.

https://youtu.be/v8U58MaSu4U

i want to get a nice case, which is important when throwing it in your backpack. i have this for the 3DS XL and am looking forward to a nifty upgrade for the Switch. i don't even plan on buying physical games (if the price is right) so maybe one without game slots would be sleeker. this one looks quite good and comes with a screen protector, that's from Play Asia. as mentioned in the video i linked, a company called RDS Industries is also doing some good looking cases

u/DNA_ligation · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have this case that I will just put in a backpack-style purse that looks like this. The case is a bit bulky, but I don't usually carry too much other than my wallet, phone and keys. If you are lacking space, then maybe you can find a cute makeup bag to put your switch in? Otherwise, I'd recommend at least getting a screen protector for it.

u/Harperlarp · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I've been using this case for about 6 months now and I have no complaints. It's small and sturdy enough to keep my Switch safe in my backpack.

u/Asherr18 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you're looking for a smaller case for just handheld, I have one just like this and keeps my switch 100% safe.

As long as you're not chucking it off a building, this will be perfectly fine and will take traveling bumps. I also personally hate huge cases as I like as much traveling room as possible.

u/grymmhain · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This is the case I’m comparing it to

https://www.amazon.com/NINTENDO-SWITCH-DELUXE-TRAVEL-CASE-MULTI-GAME/dp/B01MY9JB2U

I haven’t held them next to each other but that should give you a good idea. The one from skull and co will be a little bigger naturally because it lets you keep the gripcase on.

u/KeyMastar · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This one is the one in the picture.

I have it as well. Fantastic case for the money.

u/plopbellie · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

That's kinda an unfair comparison because this has room for the dock and a pro controllers and the power cable. The official Nintendo case only has room for the switch and the straps if im correct. A better comparison would be to the RDS Deluxe Travel case ( https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U ) which I also have, but I can't compare it to because I don't have the official nintendo case. Sorry!

u/Shajoeee · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Carrying case, I use this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_yA7DzbH7JANYK but I'd recommend one with a bit more space for a charger and maybe another set of joycons. I've heard Butterfox is a good brand

u/__c5 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

That one does look good! I decided to go with this one. They look very similar, just the one you linked has more storage for games I think.

u/qwertylerqw · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You definitely need a screen protector. The screen is plastic and the dock is infamous for scratching some users’ screens. I recommend either the amFilm one, which is the one most people seem to recommend, or the Orzly one, which is what I have and it also works great.

I recommend the pro controller if you find that the Joycons cramp your hands easily. It’s more comfortable and has larger joysticks, so it’s easier to be accurate with them.

The carrying case I use for my Switch is this one. It’s very nice and I’ve been using it for almost 2 years now with no problems.

u/Jaybib · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I would recommend any case by RDS, they are good quality. This is the case I wanted but settled for the sky blue Zelda case because that's all the store had when I got my system. Assuming the Splatoon 2 case keeps the build quality it'll be great!

u/McLovin_616 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ZgAOBb4YHCXS5

This one will not hold your charger, but I highly recommend it because it is a hard case. People have had issues with their switch turning on in their cases and overheating because buttons get pressed and turn on the system. This one keeps the system totally secure and prevents that from happening. It is super durable and nice looking as well. It holds 8 games plus whichever one is in your system. There is a soft flap that protects the screen and it has a zipper enclosure to fit earphones or a few more carts.

u/Teggert · 2 pointsr/nintendo

Nintendo's officially licensed black carrying case (the $20 one, not the $12 one) feels by far the sturdiest when compared in person to even the Zelda variations of the same design. The zippered pouch is very useful and it comes with storage cases for 8 cartridges. The messenger bag is terrific if you need to bring the dock and absolutely everything, but for just the console, games, and charging cable, I find the $20 one most convenient.

EDIT: I just noticed Amazon has this one listed for $25, however my local Walmart has them for $18.

u/RibbyPaultz · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Would you be interested in this one? I bought the Go Play handle which comes with a case and so this just sits now. I was going to make a new post but it's yours if you want it.

u/Strong_Right · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have the licensed switch case (https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U)

and it's great imo. Very sturdy, you get small carrying cases for games and SD-cards, there's an extra pouch inside that can fit an extra set of joycons (it's a tight fit, but it still easily closes) and that pouch has an extra layer of padding on the screen.

And a nice bonus is that it's really cheap.

u/lloganwebb · 2 pointsr/EDC

u/Nefthys · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I want to get a small charger and a battery bank that I can store in a Switch case (like this) and I've read a lot about 3rd party docks bricking your Switch. Some people say that even 3rd party chargers/battery banks are a problem, while others say that you can use pretty much any charger/battery bank.

So what's up with that, are 3rd party chargers/battery banks okay to use (google says that 15V/2.6A is okay?) or not?

u/Saxophobe · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I hate to say it, but this happened to me too after a while. What caused it was the thumbstick getting knocked about in transit. (So even though it looks like it's ion its normal place, the mechanism underneath makes the onscreen positioning stick in a certain direction from time to time).

This is why I have stopped transporting it in soft pocuhes, and always make sure to use a more solid one that is well padded, as the thumb-sticks are always the most vulnerable part.

There are a few good ones out there that proitect them well.
Any of the RDS ones are solid, and well padded. (though not much space for carrying anything else though besides your switch and very small items like cartridges).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel-Breath/dp/B01N6S888E

The best one I have used by far though is the Orzly Carry Case for Nintendo Switch, as not only is it exactly the same size on the outside as the RDS one, but the inner space management is alot better on the Orzly one. You get lots of top pocket room, aswell as everything being well padded inside, and the outside is solid enough to never press down on the thumbsticks, so my joy-cons always last alot longer.

https://www.amazon.com/Orzly-Carry-Compatible-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01NAUKS62

Unfortunately once the thumbstick's start failing, it does mean the whole joy-cons need replacing. Were your joy-cons always like that, or did it happen over time? (I'm just thinking that if you bought them new and they had this fault, they may still be under guarantee from where you bought them from, which would save you having to pay). When it happened to me though, it happened after a while of use, so unfortunately I just had to buy new ones, and just be more careful how I transport my switch. It was a valuable lesson well learned. (well, an expensive one, anyway)

u/platinumpuss88 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You're definitely gonna need a screen protector and a dock sock. The switch will get scratched cuz the way designed, from putting it in and taking it out. And you'll want to get a type c charger so you can wall charge it in handheld mode. And this.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAUKS62/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_9oE0BbVND7G0Y this case is awesome. And definitely you'll want extra controllers.

u/markressler · 2 pointsr/argentina

I usually move it with the dock, controllers, adapter, etc., but I'm only looking for a small case to protect the screen when I throw it in my backpack.

I've got

They both work well.

u/Dcon6393 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

I actually own this case, but this one looks exactly the same. So assuming that both cases are the same:

Its pretty sweet. It does the basics and thats all I really need for it. I would say the only negative is the game holders. They are a little tough to slide games into. But I have another case for games that I can just slide into the case anyway.

You can fit a good amount of joy cons in it, assuming that is what you would want to carry with it. If you are looking for something that can store a pro controller/the dock look elsewhere though.

Im getting my switch in about a week and a half, so i've started to look for accesories, and I think i need some help :P

Initially ill be getting Mario Kart, so im going to buy the official Joy Con Wheel x2 thing.

I was also going to buy a carrying case, and I saw this one, which looked nice.

The last thing I was going to buy for now was a screen protector, since i've heard they can get scratched easily when placing/removing the console from the dock, so I was thinking of buying this one. I also saw a Hori screen protector, but it has horrible reviews (Mostly complaining about it unsticking at the bottom of the switch because of the heat when being docked).

So, are these good choices or should I buy some other one instead?

Also, ill probably end up buying a controller, however, I find the pro controller to be too expensive, so I was thinking of buying the Hori one which is much more affordable, but is it any good? Are there any other good controllers? And I was looking at Hori stuff, so I stumbled upon the Playstand, and the game case. Are they worth buying?

Sorry if this comment is too big, im very hyped for the Switch, and I dont want to ruin my experience with bad accesories =)

EDIT: I forgot to ask, Is a big SD Card worth it? How much space would you recommend if it is?

I have a case for my switch and my pro controller separately because I don't want to damage my controller. I use this for my switch and this for my Pro Controller and they both work great and I think are pretty compact. They both easily fit in my messenger bag with my laptop whenever I go to school.

u/Allaakmar · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Here’s my loadout:

First, I like being able to play in tabletop mode as I like having the joycons removed and separated while I play on the go, I carry the straps (though I removed the strap part so it’s just a way to add extra width to the joycons) and this tablet stand because I do like the normal one.

Next up, I use a portable USB-C charger with a PD port on it. I used to use a third party Switch charger since I’m not using it to dock, but I like having the option to charge my phone as well.

Finally, I use a case to carry everything in. The normal slim ones definitely aren’t enough, so I use one like this that fits everything so I can have everything on the go in a compact space.

TLDR: I keep a tablet stand, joycon straps, and a portable charger in a large case for when I’m on the go with my Switch. None of these are must haves, but I enjoy them all.

P.S.
One ESSENTIAL accessory is a screen protector. I got a small scratch on my bezel from my dock and it still bugs me I didn’t get a screen protector immediately. It baffles me that there’d be a design flaw like that, but it happens.

Finally, a lot of people like the Satisfye grips. While I’ve never found them necessary, a lot of people have. It would also be worth getting the bundle with the carrying case since it wouldn’t fit in a normal one.

Hope this helps or gives you some ideas of what you might want.

EDIT: That's the one that I got, but this one seems to be a more recent alteration that, while it costs a little more, has more room for accessories and can be used as a stand.

u/arfycodone · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This case will fit all that minus the pro controller. Most importantly, in my opinion, it also fits the ac adapter.

u/Teepo · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I've been really happy with this case. It's rigid, so it provides a bit of protection when in my backpack with all my other junk, but it still has a really slim profile.

u/lumothesinner · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

best - skull and co gripcase

But its so expensive, so I went with a cheaper option that fits in the case i already have, just makes the grip around the joycons more ergonomical rather than extends them. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ORZLY%C2%AE-Comfort-Grip-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B077V57CVV

u/haufii · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have this case. It's a hard shell with a soft screen lining on the inside and has enough space to fit quite a few physical games, and although not specifically made to hold more than the switch and some games itself, you can fit the joycon bumpers in the case just fine. It doesn't bend at all and the zipper is quality.

u/rchamp0 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have the tomtoc switch case it’s fairly similar and I love it!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C3Z8FFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VMHJBbVY66K8A

u/fistasaverb · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I bought this case from tomtoc. It’s a slim profile, fits in my backpack nicely, and has storage for a few carts. It doesn’t have any room to store anything else.

For a day trip or if you don’t mind carrying the cord separately, it’s definitely the one to go with for portability.

u/vurto · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Just picked up a Switch via the Target deal. Need the usual accompaniment.

I'm picking up an amFilm screen protector and would like a case.

I've seen cases from TomToc, Fyoung, and the Orzly pack which seems like a good deal; and just came across this Zadii grip (Satisfye clone?), case, and screen protector that also looks like a good deal.

Any recommendations?

u/ChickenTendiesTosser · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

get the official nintendo soft case

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Screen-Protector/dp/B01N226BBW

Comes with a screen protector and has the lowest profile of all the switch cases I have seen. Also holds game cards/sd cards.

u/Graybes · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I personally love the case I got. It won't do much in terms of protecting the Switch if you drop it or something. However, the best part about it is that the case can be used as a stand when you open it up. It's great for setting the case down on the tray on your plane and playing the Switch that way. Here is an Amazon link but I payed less for it buying it from Toys R Us.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N226BBW/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_.TYFzb9202JHP

u/grifta67 · 2 pointsr/splatoon

Yea, that's the one I wanted but I think it's a soft case.

The listing for it on Amazon Japan shows the packaging (this link be crazy, it had Japanese in the URL).
https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E4%BB%BB%E5%A4%A9%E5%A0%82-Nintendo-Switch%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A3%E3%83%AA%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B0%E3%82%B1%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9-%E3%82%B9%E3%83%97%E3%83%A9%E3%83%88%E3%82%A5%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B32%E3%82%A8%E3%83%87%E3%82%A3%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3-%E7%94%BB%E9%9D%A2%E4%BF%9D%E8%AD%B7%E3%82%B7%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E4%BB%98%E3%81%8D/dp/B072FH4TPJ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1502000327&sr=8-6&keywords=nintendo+switch+case

And then on Amazon US, there's a plain Switch case with the same packaging, leading me to believe it's the same as the Splatoon one, just with no design. And reviews for this one definitely say it's a soft design that's meant more for scratches than any real protection.
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Screen-Protector/dp/B01N226BBW/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1502000425&sr=1-1&keywords=nintendo+switch+case&refinements=p_89%3ANintendo

This messenger bag looks like a pretty good set - it includes a portable case for the switch itself, too.

u/Kirbycatcher · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

There's no real way to hook it up to a screen/projector without the dock, you're going to need to bring the full setup. If you're interested though, there's a messenger bag you can get that holds the dock, cables, Switch, and all that.
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Everywhere-Messenger-Bag/dp/B01N22YAIP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486929826&sr=8-1&keywords=Nintendo+switch+carrying+bag

u/Sloth-Zilla · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

There is a messenger bag: https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Everywhere-Messenger-Bag-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N22YAIP , but I'm holding out to see what this backpack looks like. I don't understand why the makers would not want to share what it looks like inside, just knowing that would probably sell so many people on it.

u/ZimZimZeroin · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I asked a question elsewhere about what alternatives there might be to this backpack. I like the sound of it, but there aren't any photos of the interior, so I'm not sure whether or not to invest in it. The fact that it can hold a full-size gaming headset means it likely has room to comfortably hold the Pro Controller, which would be a big boon.

Alternatively, /u/Sloth-Zilla informed me of this messenger bag, which is quite tempting. My concern with it is that there might not be room in it for the Pro Controller. =\ So I'm still kind of stuck in limbo.

u/vgskid · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

It's a Nintendo Switch specific messenger bag

u/Mad_Gankist · 2 pointsr/Switch

I picked up the messenger bag, this way I have my arm sitting over it while walking. I trust no one.

u/LeKisama · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

There is the officially licensed Switch backpack which you can find here. That thing is a pretty big and should be able to accommodate all the controllers (I know how much of a pain they can be to transport). Here is Nintendo's officially licensed messenger back but it can only hold the switch and one controller. Other than those two I got nothing other than perhaps just a general big ass backpack while putting your switch in a case.

u/-princesscupcake · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Have you looked at this one ? I think you could fit your ipad in with it, but not sure if it'd be too snug or not.

This one seems like it hold both a switch and a mac at the same time, so it'd probably be big enough for what you're looking for

u/darthyoshiboy · 2 pointsr/diabetes

I have long been fed up with not having a bag that accommodates all of my stuff... Until recently when I just gave up on having a small bag and leaned all the way in and got a messenger bag.

https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Everywhere-Messenger-Bag-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N22YAIP/

It holds a new infusion site, a new sensor for my cgm, my transmitter charger for the cgm, the insertion devices for my sites and glucose sensors, my glucose meter for calibrations, spare lancets and a backup syringe, my reading glasses, a week's worth of my oral medications (not all diabetes related), alcohol/skin prep wipes, cgm sensor tapes, spare batteries for my pump/transmitter charger, two spare batteries for my phone/switch/tablet, cables to charge my phone/switch/tablet, my Switch/tablet, wall charger for phone/tablet/switch, earbuds, and when needed there is space available for insulin (I mostly keep that in a fridge though and my phone could go in the bag but it's usually in my pocket.)

In all, I only need to grab my insulin and my bag and I'm set for a week without needing to get back to home base for a refill on anything and I can treat anything on the go in my day to day without worry should anything accidental come along.

u/Voidblazer · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I got the PowerA Switch Everywhere Messenger Bag off of Amazon. $40, and it's a little big, but lots of space for all accessories, and another hard case inside for the Switch w/ attached joycons for extra protection. It's a murse, but I'm liking it so far.

u/Forrester777 · 2 pointsr/AmiiboCanada

My thoughts exactly. When Amazon first put up some of the PowerA accessories the prices were wayy too low, $26 for the 4x charger thing, when it's supposed to be $40 was great and also I got this in the mail yesterday

It's a reallly nice Switch case that holds everything including the Dock. They want $52.99 for it now but when it first went up it was $32ish and the final price ended up being $29.09 for it with another credit.

It pays sometimes to be impulsive and just pre-order anything you might want as you can always cancel later... Problem with that sometimes is I forget what I pre-ordered and don't remember until I get the shipping notice, hahaha.

u/MandomeLife · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Sure -- I'm using this case by RDS Industries paired with this screen protector. I bring along a USB adapter for charging my Switch when I'm working in my studio.

The case that I use is decent -- hard shell exterior, inner binding straps, and a near-edge fit keep the switch from jostling around. There's an inner mesh-bag for holding extra joycons and protected SD cards. The 2 game card holder cases that it comes with are questionable. They both hold four game cards each, and fit into crevices on one interior side of the Switch case. What doesn't work about them is that they often pop out of the crevices they were designed to fit and they never completely hold on to the game cards placed in them -- when you open the cases, the cards pop out of their place pretty easily. This got annoying to me as I took the Switch out of the case frequently, so I DIY'ed some cheap adhesives to both the outside and inside of the card holder cases, which ended up working very well. All in all, the case does its job -- I'd say that newer cases would probably be better, however, as companies have had the chance to iterate on the models they've developed. It also gets brownie points from saving my switch from a leaky bottle of water that I had in my backpack. Not sure if it's entirely waterproof, though.

u/alyTemporalAnom · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Thanks for the input! The one I'm looking at has 14 cartridge slots, so I think I'm gonna go for it!

https://www.amazon.com/PDP-Nintendo-Switch-Premium-Console-Case/dp/B01N4O0392/ref=sr_1_4

u/EirikHavre · 2 pointsr/nintendo

Well, it’s bigger than a 3DS or your phone, especially with the Joy Con controllers attached, but it’s not that bad imo. And you can get cases like this that makes it easier to carry your console and games together.

u/Rhonder · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

That's definitely fair xD my younger cousins who come over for holidays are teenagers now, but back like 5 years ago I probably wouldn't have trusted them either.

I'm fond of this case: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel-Breath/dp/B01N5T26EP/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1511991163&sr=8-5&keywords=rds+switch+case

It comes in several colors/styles, but as someone who buys a fair amount of physical games, I love the 2 game card cases that fit into the bottom. The mesh zipper pouch that sits over the screen of the console when inside isn't good for much (might fit like a USB cable, or the individual joycon grips in it), but otherwise it houses the console and up to 8 extra games comfortably which takes care of my portable needs. I'll just toss a charging cable and pro controller if needed into the same pouch of my bag and call it a day when leaving to hang out with people.

u/weldersmightyb · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have had two cases so far.

[This] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Starter-Kit-Mario-Icon/dp/B01N9RO6AM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1493574619&sr=8-3&keywords=mario%2Bswitch%2Bcase&th=1) is the first one. I bougt it when I first got the Switch, mainly because it was the only one in stock. I didn't care for all the extra accessaries, but some people have liked them. The case is incredibly roomy and I could my switch, with joycons and silicone grips attached, as well as a USB-C cord, headphones, amiibo cards, and a modified grip. Dropped the case several times with not a bit of damage to my precious.

I also just bought this [Zelda case]
(https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01N5T26EP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493574538&sr=8-1&keywords=zelda+switch+case), since my local store took my first one for tradein and I really wanted a Zelda case. It is a bit narrower, and I only feel confortable leaving the Switch in it, and now carry my accessories in a separate pouch (I have too many amiibo cards, so this was not an issue for me.) It could just be me though, as I have an insane fear of putting too much stress on the screen.

Both cases have space for games, Mario - 12 games, Zelda - 6/8 depending on if you use some space allotted for microsd cards. I feel like both are solid cases, it just depends on what you want to do with them.

u/Lavidon · 2 pointsr/consoledeals

In my opinion, neither the Kingtop nor this Orly case are worth it. I had a case just like these, one that uses two bands to hold down the Switch. It is secure, but it also makes putting in the Switch and taking it out is super annoying.

I highly recommend these: either this Butterfox case or this RDS case. They're both high quality, easy to use, and secure. I had the RDS one first but decided to get the Butterfox one because I like the little pockets for holding Switch games. Both are good tho.

u/Cinema_King · 2 pointsr/AlternativeAmazonVGF

I got the RDS case with the Breath of the Wild logo on it:

My only complaint about it is that it doesn't hold a charger. Or at least not the official one, it might be able to hold a USB cord and slim wall adapter.

u/Farnic · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I got this case and the cartridge holders are removable, so I put them in a drawer.

Yeah...you probably should. I bought one, but haven't put it on yet. I've had it since launch and I haven't had any scratches on it. But I'm extremely careful when putting it in the dock and I have a case for it. I'd say a case is absolutely mandatory if you're going to be using it on the go.

For me the case is just a little too bulky. I don't plan on carrying more than 1-2 games at a time, so a minimalist case that just carries the thing and has a pouch for headphones+charging cable is perfect. Personally, I've been looking for a case with three characteristics:

  1. Mesh pouch for AC Adapter etc.
  2. Protective flap to shield screen from mesh pouch
  3. Hard(ish) shell

So far, the only case I've found that has all three is the Surge: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carry-All-Case/dp/B01N6RMR30

It also has straps for joycons... so this one gets my vote (granted, it's not super sexy)

Hey friend. I went with a slim case by Surge on Amazon but returned it when I realized I couldn't fit extra jot cons and a battery. If you just want a slim, cool-looking case to carry the switch unit with attached joycons it can't be beat in my mind. It's only 10 bucks and good quality.

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Screen-Protector/dp/B01N226BBW I got this case since the Switch launched and I’ve been rocking it since it’s basic but works great. I especially love how it can be used as a stand so I can prop my Switch up on tabletop mode in bed

u/lman777 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

If you're looking for above average portability, I have no hesitation in recommending the official nintendo case. The portability is really good (though there isn't much space inside) and it functions as a better stand than the included kickstand, which really comes in handy. I also like that it's a low profile black color, which may not matter to other people, but for me I don't want to be carrying it in a flashy attention grabbing case at work.

Link here: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Carrying-Case-Screen-Protector/dp/B01N226BBW

u/mobott · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I really like the official carrying case, because the built in kickstand gives a better angle than the one on the switch, and makes it possible to play it on surfaces that I couldn't with the normal one, like on my bed. I can't vouch for the quality of the included screen protector because I'm already using a glass one, but I guess it's a nice inclusion.

I ordered this, haven't received yet but it sounds really good for the price.

I've got this one and love it.

https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Switch-Everywhere-Messenger-Bag/dp/B01N22YAIP

It's got a smaller case within it for just the switch, and when I'm not carrying my dock I can carry two pro controllers and a extra charging grip with two more joy cons with same careful arranging.

I bought Tempered Glass it arrives late, so I have to be careful.
Also I move alot between few towns and I want my Switch with me the whole time, including the Dock. So I bought this Bag, it also has a separable case for the Switch including the joycons and the price is great in comparison.

I also bought Joycon Grips because I have big hands and they cramp when I hold my 3ds XL so I think it will be worse for the joycons.

In preparation for ARMS, Mario Kart, Bomberman R and Snipperclips I bought a second set of Neon Red/Blue Joycons to go with me Neon switch for 4 different variations depending on the mood.

The things I am considering for now are Pro Controller later when Splatoon is closer to release and also another Joycon charging grip or just a normal grip to turn my joycons into another normal controller.

I had to stop myself from buying the Pro Controller and Charging grip for now because I am at the limit I set for myself for the Switch(500$USD with Zelda+Bomberman+Bag+Joycons+Grips+Tempered Glass Protector).

If I were you and I don't need a bag like that one I got then I would go with the one on the right side, the cartridge case + the thing inside the case to cover the Switch Screen which can absorb a hit if that was to happen and also it probably won't scratch easily like the one on the left side. Up to you :).

This is what I got: homase Nintendo Switch Hard Back Case Cover Anti-Scratch Transparent Crystal Protector Shock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071VHQ9KW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_RvEszbVT1GN2T

PowerA Switch Everywhere Messenger Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N22YAIP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_CxEszbS7T1JSP

First screen protector that installed with ease, better than icarez. Do it in a humid bathroom. And messenger bag I didn't want but knew I'd be frequently taking my system solo and sometimes the dock to relatives so it was a good price, $30 like new. It was sealed!

Anyway if you frequently go from docked to not, it all depends on your controller arrangement. If you can leave the stock joycons on its not time consuming to take off the tablet clear protector. But daily removal and installation of controllers for a grip would get annoying?

I'm hunting for either a pro controller from colorware or a rubber cover not black for neon joycons on stock comfort grip. Good luck!

That's the one I have, and I highly recommend it. For short day-to-day carrying, this one's excellent. For long-haul travel, though, I have this one:

This case fits the dock, the joycons, a pro controller, the switch inside of the case, some games, etc. I managed to get some more stuff to fit in there too, and it has an extra pocket outside. I keep my switch games in a gameboy cartridge case, so they fit nicely in there though.

u/greek_sauce · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N22YAIP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought this as it was only $8 more than a rigid case that only fit the switch.

This one has a little hard case for the Switch and the attached joy cons and it slips into a pocket inside the bag. I usually put a game or two behind the joycon slots because they are recessed (i must warn, they float around back there).

The bonus is I can carry my entire setup with the messenger bag if need be but I also have the ease of having a decent rigid case for just the switch.

Super heavy duty, comes with a mesh bag that has two Micro SD card holders and two game holders that each hold 4 cartridges each. It can also carry the switch, dock, cables, joycon grip, and anything else you want to throw in there. You can usually find it at target or Best Buy for ~$30 USD. As for controllers... joy cons are easy to order online through Nintendo or you can get them at Target/Walmart or anywhere that has a video game section. As for holding case, I have this heavy duty grip case. I have dropped my switch before and it’s been perfectly fine with this thing on, so I definitely recommend it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/slredirect/picassoRedirect.html/ref=pa_sp_btf_aps_sr_pg1_2?ie=UTF8&adId=A0148261R5SAG6IFJ04X&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FMumba-Nintendo-Switch-Rubberized-release%2Fdp%2FB071ZRM6C1%2Fref%3Dsr_1_19_sspa%2F145-9781408-3087933%3Fie%3DUTF8%26qid%3D1519561659%26sr%3D8-19-spons%26keywords%3Dnintendo%2Bswitch%2Bcase%26psc%3D1%26smid%3DA1D6JCE5X9R16U&qualifier=1519561659&id=8600541413204391&widgetName=sp_btf
Also, a screen protector is recommended to prevent your screen getting scratched when you dock the console.

Don’t get too addicted to BOTW! XD

Edit: Also, all you have to do to charge your controllers is connect them to the switch while it’s docked.

u/AlphaMoose67 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

It’s the same dimensions as the Switch/dock case with added drop protection and IP67 water and air tight rating.

But you’re right if it’s gonna be something used as a commuter case I sure wouldn’t wanna carry either all day.

u/ThatEpicMoment · 1 pointr/3DS

My wife got me a Switch carrying case for Valentine's Day last year, just before the switch launched. It came with a mesh bag to hold the HDMI cable and a spare USB-C charging cable. But 99% of the time it holds my standard sized n3DS. It's prefect for it and just right to keep it from dings or small drops without being too bulking. It has a little padding built in as well so it isn't simply "barrier-only" protection. Still fits in the pocket too, which was important to me. This is the kit on Amazon. If you have a Switch, it's a great purchase as you get one product with two uses. The top of the fourth picture shows the little bag I use.

u/aluisi77 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Just got the regular one. My friend has the Zelda one. I know the regular one has these odd indents on the top that look like it gives less room but its exactly the same as the Zelda ones on the inside. I wanted a normal back case cuz its less assuming when caring around the switch logo is small so it doesn't draw to much attention to HEY LOOK AT ME CARING A SWITCH!!!

It will fit 8 games total. The small ones for the 4 micro SD cards are the size of a switch cart I just took them out. No reason to carry 4 SD cards. The plastic game cases sit under the switch in a cut out made for the cases.

What I carry in my case is 4 games. The switch with joycons attached. 2 JoyCon straps and a official Nintendo USB C cable. If you want something to carry everything just replace the extra JoyCons on the grip for the pro controller this one is a nice option and its the same price everywhere. I have look at Walmarts ToysRus and Target they are all $39 for this case and its small the same size as the NES Classic case they made.

https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-System/dp/B01N23OP50/ref=sr_1_14?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1494006072&sr=1-14&keywords=switch+case

ONLY DOWNSIDE OF THESE CASES
I cant stress this enough though. These cases F-ing stink like cigar smoke. I don't know why but they do. I left mine open in a well ventilated area for a few days the and smell went away. That's the only downside of RDS cases.

u/unromen · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

It's a bulkier option, but RDS industries has a pretty good case that fits everything, including the OEM dock.

I've had this one since launch. It's held up great. It doesn't fit a pro controller, but it comes with 2 game cases that hold 4 games each, and there's also a zipper pocket inside for other things/more games. You could find a bigger case that holds controllers and dock, but at that point you might as well just throw all your shit in a backpack or duffle bag. This size case works best for keeping the system safe, whether you're only hauling just that, or putting it in another bag.

There are other colors and styles made by the same company, some a couple bucks cheaper.

I'm looking for recommendations on a travel case that will fit THIS inside as well as the dock, pro controller, joy grip, power and hdmi.

most of the full travel cases I see have the thumb sticks rubbing on something and this imo is not good for them. Thus I rather find something that will fit the above case in it to prevent this problem.

Thank you in advance for your time and have a good day.

u/Warskull · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Zelda is a no brainer. If he's never played Binding of Isaac go with that one. Honestly, I would stop there. Zelda will keep him busy for a long time.

I would strongly recommend an official Nintendo carrying case. He's going to want to travel with it at some point. Have a doctors appointment, got to go get your car inspected, or anything else where you have to sit and wait? The Switch is perfect and the carrying case is big for it. The small one that carries just the Switch will do. You don't need the $30 one that carries even the dock. He'll like this one or this one.

The next question is physical vs digital. Does your boyfriend like to collect physical copies of games or just download them? Check for one of his existing systems. Does he have a huge library of physical games or does he just have the console? If he is a digital guy you may want to consider an SD card of 128 GB or 256 GB.

The Pro controller is great, but it costs about $70. If it is in your budget get it. It is great.

edit: read this in the reviews "Flaw 2: the bottom cushion does not have any contour to adapt R/ZR/L/ZL button protruding area, so it makes switch always tilting when inside the case. Combined with tight rubber band it means device will constantly get unbalanced force against this area."

I think that is a big problem, I'll pass for now :(

u/musicboy74 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I'm currently using the Carry-All case. I've had it since Day 1, and it works well. However, the creator of this Switch TakeCase posted a giveaway here about a week ago and I think it looks great, I will be buying that one soon. Another good one is the Deluxe Travel case, I know someone who has it. It just isn't optimal for me since I carry a Pixel charger and I don't think it would fit in that zipper pouch.

I use the official Nintendo hard case which I find great! I've also heard good things about the "Surge carry all case" I'll pop the link below

Nice, I got this one. Was really drawn to it's simplicity and how to the case shapes to the JoyCons.

u/crambosho · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Hello all,

I've been scouring the search feature and Google and I have a hard time picturing which case works for me exactly. I am looking for a case that can hold the future Nyko Portable Docking Kit, an extra set of JoyCons and their wrist straps + original wrist straps (The Docking Kit comes with an HDMI, power cable and the AC adapter). I realize that this might be a stretch given that the Docking Kit isn't out, but for those with amazing spatial abilities, that would be grand!

I'm really trying to avoid a backpack or huge compartments, a single-handed carrying case would be ideal.

These are the few that I've been eyeing but kind of torn with.

Butterfox

Hard EVA

Orzly

Surge

Thoughts anyone?

Hori is an alright brand, they make good controllers and high quality fightsticks. Their switch case looks okay, I went with this but you should be fine either way. I have an orzly case. I don’t own the original joy con grip anymore but it fits my powerA grip (the case does stretch out and gets thicker a little though when things like grips and chargers are it it). It’s good for traveling and doesn’t have any switch logos or characters that scream “I have a switch come rob me” all over it.

This looks like it fits a Switch in the Orzly equivalent of the Skull and Co grip? I just bought the Skull&Co case with the grip because I knew I'd have this problem.

Also this might work, but place the switch face down with the handles of the grip facing the extra storage space?

u/FlanBrosInc · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Interesting, it's saying A now. Either way there's definitely fake reviews.

https://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B071R5WHX5

This highlights some major red flags. Many reviews being posted all on the same day. Reviewers sharing a common history. Repetitive adjectives like "sturdy". Also apperently the product has had a significant number of deleted reviews and so have many of the reviewers.

That being said, with a case there's not exactly as much to worry about as there is with electronics or things like that. The only thing I'd be particularly worried about is build quality and the zipper (which, if not designed well, on the inside can scratch the Switch and accessories).

In the end it's up to the purchaser, but there's definitely fake reviews there. It's definitely a Chinese knockoff You can get an Orzly for $12 or a Butterfox for $10. If someone's buying something to protect their $300 device and $60 games it's probably worth spending the extra $4 to get a product with a reliable background.

I use the Orzly Carrying Case with my grip. It can hold the switch with the grip on just fine, and it has space for games, and a zippered mesh pocket for anything else you have. Fairly cheap too. It’s pretty slim, which means you can’t fit too much in there, but it works just fine for me.

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01NAUKS62/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Fsj9BbA7D13PY

u/poetryrocksalot · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

The Orzly Carrying Case fits the AZGEEK. I suspect the Skull and Co carrying case will also work.

The only issue is the elastic bands to secure the case is a little too tight. So I don't even use those bands. I just make sure to zip up the Orzly case and open it carefully so the console does not fall out.

BASSTOP DIY switch dock and Orzly carry case

For the case, if you want to store the charger then you might want to find a thicker one because the charger is really thick and you risk breaking your screen or joycon because of pressure.

and for organizational purposes I recommende these or similar. Each bag contains:

  1. Toiletries (toothbrush, paste, floss, nail clipper, tweezers, etc)
  2. Trimmer and accesories
  3. Chromecast and macbook charger extension cable
  4. Powerbank and all type of usb cables (I use this in my daycarry as well)
  5. Medicine (ibuprofen and such things)
  6. switch official charger (doesn't fit in the case, it's too thick)

Case recommendations UK people?

So far I'm mainly looking at this beefy case that holds everything , a case that takes the Switch and controllers, but not the dock , and I did briefly consider this budget case that doesn't hold the dock

Apart from those three though I haven't looked at much else.

u/Lancel0t90 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

There is a good variety to choose from, my suggestion would be for you to decide what are you looking for, and going from there.

At first, I personally just needed a carrying case, so I went with Orzly's basic one because of the price. After, I switched to Skull & Co's, because the one I had couldn't hold my Switch with the grip.

u/JnRx03 · 1 pointr/ShouldIbuythisgame

As someone who's owned a Switch since launch, I say the joycon and comfort grip are fine i'll try to put this in sections.

Controller: You can try the pro controller, but in my experience with the two i've bought, I've found that the left stick if you flick it on direction it bounces back the other direction, you may not find this to be an issue right away, but it caused a lot of issues for me when playing Sonic Mania and other games that require quick stick movement.

Cases: If you can get your hand on the Zelda Special Edition case that'd be great, but otherwise [This](https://www.amazon.com/TAKECASE-Nintendo-Switch-Case-Microfiber-Guarantee /dp/B06XYPPJ6M/ref=pd_cp_63_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=RBHQCTFZSKGBBVMX8GZ2) and This seem to be pretty good hefty cases.

Also This protective slim case should serve as nice armor to protect it from scratches.

Games: Personally i'd reccomend, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2 (my fav), Sonic Mania, Mario Kart 8, Snipperclips (if you have someone to play with), these are all games I mostly enjoy, i'd recommend ARMS as well, but i found the game more frustrating than fun.

Screen Protector: This one shall do they're all mostly the same, just different price points and popularity, the on difference between some is tempered glass vs plastic.

I say always go with Tempered glass, unless you prefer the plastic for one reason or another

That's the case I have, it has recessed areas in the lower half to accommodate the Joycon trigger bumps and the lid has more than enough free space to give the analogue sticks room to breath. Add to this the fact that the screen flap hold 8 games and doesn't touch the sticks and I'm pretty sure it's perfect.

Awesome! Congrats! You'll love it.

A few things I'm glad I got: glass screen protector.

Edit: hit the send button accidentally. :)

I returned THREE cases I didn't like for various reasons, but I just got the Switch Takecase on Amazon after loving their 3ds case, and I couldn't be happier. Because it's a new product, it's cheap (for now; jump on the deal they've got), and there aren't as many reviews, but I can't recommend it highly enough. Room for a charger and games, solid construction, etc.

The JoyCon with grip (or without) are fantastic, and you'll be just fine without a Pro Controller. But when it's in your budget, get one. It's fantastic. Again, the JoyCon are great.

Shovel Knight!! Snipperclips!! And yes, it looks like Nintendo will be pulling a ton of other indies into the platform.

Enjoy your Switch!

One that might be worth adding is TAKECASE Nintendo Switch Case. It's the only one I've seen that has room for the official charger.

u/sl0w4zn · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XYPPJ6M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_LPlJBbE2X089M

It smelled weird at the beginning, but I can carry my charger and a spare set of joycons in the zipper compartment.

Roomier Small Cases - Are There Others Like These? (Takecase, Soyan)

  • Takecase Nintendo Switch Case
  • Soyan Carrying Case for Nintendo Switch - Medium

These two cases are the closest I've found to fitting the bill. Both are similar in size and features to the official and other small hard cases, but have a bit more room: Where most small cases are 2" to 2.5" deep, the Takecase is 3.3" and the Soyan is 3.6", providing more room for accessories in the top compartment and giving more clearance for the Switch's thumbsticks in the bottom half.

    Preferred contents:

  • Switch with joy-cons attached
  • Minimum 8 games
  • 2 spare joy-cons
  • 4 joy-con straps
  • Portable dock
  • Power Adapter
  • HDMI Cable
  • Headphones

The Takecase is just a bit too small. All of the above will fit if you squeeze, but that's not ideal, obviously, and it takes a bit of doing every time you pack and unpack.

The Soyan is an inch longer, about the same height, and .3 inches deeper. There might even be enough room to pack everything above along with a Grip or Pro Controller. On the down side, it appears that the Switch isn't well secured -- no straps of any kind -- and has some useless space on either side. Haven't tested it yet, but ordered one and will find out soon.

Anyone know of other similar cases? Looking for something small and sturdy that fits what's listed above. Thanks!

While I don't have it this one looks really secure and holds alot.

I have this one and really enjoy it. It has room for a dock and a pro controller, which is pretty rare. The handle is also sturdy, which is a problem for other bags of this type. I've had no problems with it whatsoever. Items fit into it securely and everything feels protected.

u/CGriffiths86 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I think I'm going to try this one. It seems to have the deepest top pocket.

u/fastspinecho · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I actually have both of those cases.

I bought the Orzly case first, and hated it. The accessory pocket opens away from the handle, which means the contents spill out whenever you carry it. Also, the straps that secure the Switch are annoying to use.

Then I bought the Hestia case, and I think it's far better. The accessory pocket closes with a zipper, so nothing ever spills out. The Switch is secured with a single Velcro tab, which is less annoying. As a bonus, it holds more cartridges, and the outer covering feels like a nice ballistic fabric instead of cheap vinyl.

That said, I'm kind of tempted by this one, which seems like a Hestia but also has a built in stand:

I take my switch to work everyday. I have the the big mumba case that snaps to the switch. I also have the butter fox carrying case. The switch with the mumba fits perfectly into the butter Fox, and gives me room for a bunch of games, joy cons and the straps. Then I throw the whole case into a backpack. No issues yet and I feel like I don’t have to worry about it at all when it’s in this set up. I also have a screen protector installed.

Suggest a protective shell, I really like the mumba but not sure if it fits in a Butterfox like this one?:

EDIT: Is getting the adjustable charging stand a good idea especially when used with a protective shell?

u/ray12370 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

The [Butterfox carrying case] (https://www.amazon.com/ButterFox-Nintendo-Switch%EF%BC%8CFits-Charger%EF%BC%8CBuilt-Accessories/dp/B075PVC8WR?th=1) is exactly what you want. Obviously a little thicker, but it will fit the AC adapter.

I personally use the official one that costs $20 that has a lot of varying designs (I have the Shiekah Slate one), and it's a good protective case because of how hard the exterior is, but it barely fits the Switch itself in the case and 2 extra joycons. I'm a student though so I always have my backpack on me and my AC charger in there, so it doesn't bother me

I was going to buy the Butterfox case when I got my Switch, and the only reason I the Shiekah Slate one was because I got it as a hand-me-down. The moment my Shiekah Slate case becomes too deteriorated, I will buy the Butterfox case as the replacement.

u/incubenito · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Is this what you’re referring to?

u/xsrike · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

So i just got a Switch, slightly bumped out by the news of the announcement of the better battery life version but its fine.

I'm intending to dbrand skin my switch and am looking for a slim case to carry it around in. My options are SF Waterfield Pouch or tomtoc slim case

Any other recommendations? I don't need a case to carry chargers and extra accessories around. Also thinking of getting a gripcase for home use.

u/BringoutCHaDead · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I highly recommend a case. I don't think a screen protector is enough for taking the switch on the go. I wouldn't want to throw it in a back pack without one. I have bought two cases for mine and the one I linked below is my favorite and most form fitting.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0769GCSMK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

I also recommend getting silicon grips for portable play. The form factor of the Switch is not comfortable and having the extra bump on the back of the grips for your hands makes a world of difference and they are not expensive.

u/ajumbaje · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I’m in search of a case for my switch. I don’t have any physical games, so no need for a sleeve to hold games. Would prefer slim and sturdy. Does anyone have this case?

u/PJkazama · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

It would bounce around a little if you don't have a grip in there. If you're going gripless then buy the tomtoc case designed for a bare switch:
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Nintendo-Original-Hardshell-Cartridges-Accessory/dp/B07C3Z8FFC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=tomtoc+case+switch&qid=1568501428&sprefix=tomtoc+case+s&sr=8-1

That's the same case you were looking at but doesn't hold a grip, just the Switch and 10 games. It's a very tight fit and the trade off is how thin the case is.

I'd still recommend the tomtoc + kingtop grip because you'll forget the grip is even on. You don't have to remove it to use any feature of your Switch and it adds a lot of protection.

Along with what Joshua said, I'm a huge fan of Death Squared and Human Fall Flat. I play with friends and we have a blast, we love the humor of the games and are always laughing at what everyone's doing in the games. Puyo Puyo Tetris is a great single or multiplayer puzzle game. Astro Bears Party is a quick, fun multiplayer game, I picked mine up on sale for under a dollar. All offline.

Crash Bandicoot is a difficult 2.5D platformer, if you haven't played and are into that. I like it, some levels do get a bit frustrating. Snake Pass is one of my favorite games, you control a snake and it very much relies on weird controls and puzzles you have to figure out, based on the weird controls. If you like Portal, you'll love Chromagun. It's like Portal but with colors. Celeste is a death-happy, 2D platformer with the difficulty set on hard. If you want a challenge, Celeste is your game. All offline, all single player.

Online - I just started playing Fortnite and Rocket League, both seem pretty fun so far. Fortnite is a free download, too!

I travel a lot and LOVE this case. It's super small, it has 8 game pouches(and you can probably double up games in each pouch
too), hardshell, water resistant, looks nice and sleek, and I feel safe with it. I'm also just not an accessory person though -- I have just my switch, 3 physical games, thumb grips(like these)(totally unnecessary, just a personal preference), a screen protector(I've heard putting the switch in/out of the dock can scratch the screen), and that case. The case also came with an accessories pouch, but I've never used it.

u/FatAngryDude · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

I really wanted that case cause after doing some math the case looked like it would be a good deal to go for the Special Ed. but now with items slowly appearing since release, I think I'll pass and get one of the ones from PDP that look clean, specifically this one, that looks very clean looking and doesn't advertise to the world "Hey! I have a $300+ device on me!"

I just prefer soft cases, idk why but its just a preference. The semi-hard ones that are somewhat flexible are ok too, but they are usually more expensive or bulkier. Also I found one that's cheap, soft, and can hold 14 game cases. https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Premium-Travel-Console-Games/dp/B01MS7AI9G

Also soft cases are more flexible and in my case (no pun intended) I need flexible bc the room in my backpack isn't very roomy.

u/TheRealLimitlessHate · 1 pointr/Switch

Yes, you absolutely need a tempered glass screen protector. The Switch screen is plastic and is tough to shatter but easy to scratch. A microSD card is also a necessity, but avoid cards advertised as being specifically for the Switch as there's no difference between them and cheaper unlicensed cards.

A carrying case is similarly recommended. Don't just throw your switch in your backpack or day bag or whatever. I like this one for its capacity for 14 cartridges: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Premium-Travel-Console-Games/dp/B01MS7AI9G?th=1

The Pro Controller is probably the best new console controller since the 360 pad. It's incredibly high-quality and its built-in 3DS battery (yeah, really) will keep a charge for a staggeringly long time. If the price tag is too much, the PDP Mario/Zelda/etc. wired controllers have reviewed well.

u/justavault · 1 pointr/gaming

> Look online at a store nintendo DOES NOT sell SD cards. They miiight license some third party ones I suppose but why would they prevent another company from selling SD cards they've verified work with their system?

It is a SD card, chief. There exists no "incompatible". It's just a label to rip off customers who do not have the technical knowledge to realize that any SD card is fuckin the same if the speed class matches, no matter the label you put on. A class 6 SD card is the same, no matter if you pay 30 bucks on top because there is a Nintendo label on it.

>Also dude just because a copper spike aggressively scratching a screen will scratch it doesn't mean a round fucking penny will. It's not a scratch off lottery it's a fucking screen. As the video says plastic is a better choice because it avoids cracking which is way more likely than scratching given the usage.

What did I expect? Of course, a fanboy will react with denial of reality - the tester must have "aggressively tried to scratch it" - subjectivity is to be expected by any opponent of my fanboyism.

A penny is pretty sharp on the edge unless it has seen some decades and it was just an example for an everyday item that can easily scratch the device's screen, because it is so soft. You know, to do the transfer of using exemplary items in a rethorical way is kind of expected in a conversation.

There are a multitude of items that will scratch a 3moh screen in your pocket. Like say a metal pen thrown into your backpack, or keys in your purse. Man even a knob could potentially do this if the angle is right.

> As the video says plastic is a better choice because it avoids cracking which is way more likely than scratching given the usage.

Jerry is making a quick assumption, not a sufficiently profound argument here. The Switch is not really shock resistant considering its built and especially compared to gorilla glass 5+, but I expect you to deny this without me linking another video that would show this. (unless me, you, the fanboy, does not have the obligation to proof your points right? You just need to say "no" and all is right)

Plastic does in no way "avoid" cracking, chief. You live in a very awesome world if that does or you should immediately inform Apple about this insight.

>Oh and there are third party cases along with some very small effective cases from Nintendo I'm not sure what you're going on about with cases.

Why don't you link me those cases? And with case I mean a wrap, not a pouch/bag. Instead, you typically fanboying and simply "mentioning it" without linking further proof.

But, I made the research for you. The smallest bag I found on amazon is this. Though, the argument remains, put in their, that thing is not much more portable than a PS4 slim as both require a bag unless you really walk around with "just" a Swatch in your hands, because this does not fit in your pockets... which would be a very funny picture.

With cases we are more talking something like this - you know something that adds protection without adding a lot of bulge - this does not exist because, as aforementioned the used plastic will melt everything away.

So, again, Nintendo is ripping you off with every little Nintendo sticker they put on anywhere including the switch itself. It is a sub par piece of hardware and we are not talking about the games, just about the Nintendo management responsible for the business decisions and those exude greed.

u/p1_tjc · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

There are only a few updates right out of the box, and they dont' take long at all. I didn't get my console on a big holiday, however, so depending on how many people are trying to connect to Nintendo's servers on Christmas, it might take significantly longer.

A screen protector is very nice to have. I haven't got one myself, but I plan on getting one. Until then, I'm just very careful when docking/undocking my console.

For accessories, it depends. If you travel a lot or on a regular basis, a traveling case is definitely worth it. I got this one, and it's great. It's a tad bigger than the one found on Nintendo's website (even though it is an official Nintendo product), and comes with two four-cartridge cases and two SD card cases.
Depending on what games he has, your son might also want a pro controller. I got the $70 one here, but there is a cheaper $30 option if you really want it (but personally I wouldn't recommend it). I primarily use my pro controller for MK8D and Splatoon 2.
The last major accessory you might want is an SD card. Depending on how many games he wants to download as opposed to using a physical copy, an SD card might be worth it. I think the best option is a microSDXC UHS-I card, but I don't remember. The size depends on how much money you can spend and how many games you wanna download. I wouldn't really go for anything below 64GB, but that's just me.

I originally started with the RDS case, then outgrew it and switched to the Butterfox case. Both have been great, and the Butterfox one in particular is IMO the best Switch case. They recently came out with a larger version with more space for accessories.

I use the Game Traveler Deluxe for taking the Switch to school and back and occasionally on planes. $20 dollars for absolutely zero problems so far and storage for 4 games, the joycon grips, and I think another 2 games and 2 SD cards (though I misplaced that container).

It doesn't fit a charger but I figure if it's a short outing you want to travel as light as possible and if it's a long trip you'll have a separate bag with a phone and laptop charger anyway, so an extra one isn't that much of a big deal to throw in.

I got mine just a bit ago from Indiegogo. It arrived the same day they showed up on Amazon, and when i looked at the Amazon listing that same day there were only 3 left.

Unfortunately it looks like they burned through all the stock they sent Amazon prior to Chinese New Year celebrations.

Admittedly, i was bummed when i saw the announcement about new years, assuming i was going to have to wait a month or more. Strangely, it showed up really quickly from China, and the form and fit has been great. No issues docking or with shoulder buttons as some people have said.

The base entry price includes the carrying case, and to be frank, you're going to need it. It's pretty much a thicker version of this case with a few added bells and whistles. It's thicker because the grip considerably changes the form factor of your Switch and will no longer fit into any of the original cases provided.

Long story short, buy it from Indiegogo and you'll probably be as happy as i am currently. Would buy again.

Here you are friend! It's pretty basic but I actually love it. It's a sort of harder shell and keeps the Switch pretty secured. The little mini cases are underneath where the Switch sits.

In case people are wondering, this is the case I got:

https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U

For $25, it was a steal - though I thought I got it $5 cheaper at Target?

u/cgmccage · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

The supremely popular case made by RDS Industries (here) may leave scuff marks on the bottom your switch. But what would I know, I am the only one to have this problem with it having over a quarter billion in sales.

I suggest leaving micro fiber clothes on the bottom of it. Other than that, it is a great case.

u/Ko-san · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

These cases have the indentations needed to give the switch a flat surface and also have the game cards in a place where they won't affect the Switch with their weight.

That said, they don't have too much room for extra joycons except for a little pouch that sits above it, but you can fit joycons in there.

Hey I am looking for a new travel bag for my switch and accessories. I currently have carry bag, and this body case. I like this setup as often when I am away from home, I play my switch handheld in the bed. Once I am done, I like putting back in the body case on the night stand or use the case for when I am just moving around a house/room. The carry bag worked cause it held the switch in the case, pro controller, power cord, and the joycons edges, all while being easy to carry or small enough to fit into a small duffel bag.

However, more and more of late I keep finding myself wishing that I brought the dock too and/or the joycon grip. There is no room in the carry bag and I don't like putting the dock in the duffel as I fear it getting crunched accidentally. Anybody recommend a bag that can hold the switch in the body case, while having room for the pro controller (and joycon grip if possible but not needed), dock, power adapter, and HDMI cable securely and safely for the devices without being the size of a messenger bag? If I need another case for the switch handheld itself, that's fine, I just prefer the harder shelled ones. Really if my current bag was just a couple inches thicker to hold the dock too it would be perfect, but it cannot.

Thank you!

This is actually the same as the RDS Case, there are 5 different flavors though...

Yes, there's a reason why the official carrying case comes included with tiny red cases that can hold up to four microSD cards: https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U

Also this Hori game carrying case includes a holder for two microSD cards: http://www.play-asia.com/card-case-62-for-nintendo-switch-blue/13/70aw6l

What reason would they have to include these if you couldn't use more than one microSD card?

u/MrMiyamoto · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I'm going with the case that comes in the Zelda SE as it seems to strike a good balance between size and features.

There are a lot of officially licensed cases that are functionally similar to the Shiekah slate one, just themed differently on the outside:

https://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-Hard-Shell-Carrying-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01N13YIQJ/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/

If I couldn't get the Zelda SE one I'd probably be getting one of the Zelda RDS ones.

LMAO, that's not the case I'm talking about, although I do have that one too. My measurements and math were based on this case, by the same company, which is comparable to the BotW I think. You would need to measure your own to confirm, but I can't be too far off. So I really do suggest you calculate the volume of your case and see just how surprisingly more space hungry it is :)

Hey Dad, also a Dad. I got a switch for each of my boys (9 year old and 6 year old). They love them. Here's some guidance.

Custom units/skins don't matter. Just buy whatever package has the joycon colors you think he/she'd like.

Mario Odyssey is excellent. Mario Party is just alright. Odyssey is a great 3D platformer ala Mario 64. Or... if you're REALLY that deeply ignorant of anything non-playstation... a better Crash Bandicoot. :D Mario Party is a mini-games ... game. It's just ok. Gets alot of love, but IMO, boring quickly... didn't last too long for the kids' entertainment either.

Zelda is a must buy. It is fantastic. Unless your dude/dudette is pretty young, do it. Also... clock yourself some gametime there... we're talking, Horizon Zero Dawn with a lighter atmosphere and a little less quicktime... but maybe better.

Smash is Smash.

No clue no One's Justice.

Pikachu should be alright... I'd only recommend that if he/she's already a Pokemon fan. If not, get the real full fledged Pokemon a year from now.

Added recommendation... StarLink is a fun open world exploration game that isn't super difficult and doesn't take tself too seriously. Stereotyping a bit here but, if your kid's a 8-12 year old boy, it's pretty tough to beat flying around with space ships and exploring planets and shooting bad guys. You can safely ingnore the additional toys, or get into it. They actually did a great job of allowing a pretty cheap digital purchase of all the toys, and you don't even have to do that... you can unlock pretty much everything in-game.

Anyhoo... good luck. Spend some time yourself on Breath of the Wild. You won't regret it.

OH! And buy this case: https://www.amazon.com/NINTENDO-SWITCH-DELUXE-TRAVEL-CASE-MULTI-GAME/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ Available iin multiple styles. Great case, most of the other really suck. Those ones are very well made.

u/mperklin · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

That sounds like the case I have.
I have this one: NINTENDO SWITCH DELUXE TRAVEL CASE https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BHk6Bb7SZGT9T

I put them both in the zipper/flap that lays on the screen. I’m not worried about scratching the screen because the material between screen and pouch is thick.

In fact, I also carry my portable hdmi dock in the same flap alongside the two “ears”
There’s enough room for all 3 and I haven’t scratched my screen yet after ~30 flights and lots of backpack time

Can anyone comment if the skull and co grip will fit in the basic RDS switch carrying case? Nintendo Switch Carrying Case – Protective Deluxe Travel Case – Black Ballistic Nylon Exterior – Official Nintendo Licensed Product https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9JB2U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5FZ7CbVM972HK

Really depends on your needs. If you find that you're setting up for larger sessions with a lot people and a TV, go with the larger case. If you're just transporting the Switch for yourself, buy the smaller case.

I have this one and I really like it.

u/randomppl23 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

i'm wary of cases like this and ones with mesh pockets inside bc i don't like the idea of anything pushing down on the joy sticks for extended periods of times. i got this one and it's perfect for me

u/Zashule · 1 pointr/SwitchHacks

Pretty sure the official Nintendo licensed carrying case includes 2 game holders that also include a game sized micro SD case.

What case do people recommend? My Switch is arriving in the mail soon and I want a nice case for it. Been looking at this case and I wonder if anyone knows if it fits cables as well. I want a case that can fit the Switch, games and USB-C cables, I really like the small game cases that come with that case. Also, is it any cases that's not too big that will fit the charging stand? I'm wondering if I wanna get one or not, but don't want it to be a hassle to carry around. Thanks!

u/karpitstane · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I know a lot of people here like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U

A coworker of mine has it as well, so I got to check it out. Nice build quality, not too bulky, fits a good amount of stuff.

u/ExecutiveMoose · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I've been looking into buying a switch case, specifically this one
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Game-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U

but i was wondering if it can fit a premium card case in it like this one
https://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-switch/accessories/nintendo-switch-premium-game-card-case-zelda-hylian-crest/150962

I can't tell from looking online but does the pouch have enough room to hold the card case?

If anyone has the same case i'd love to know.

u/betacux · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Would definitely recommend a pro controller, so much more comfortable than joy-con. I got joy-con comfort silicone grip things that go on the joy-con, but even then my hands absolutely kill me from playing Switch. If you just want to play as soon as you can, I guess get silicone comfort grips for your joy-con, and a comfort grip controller. Also definitely get a glass screen protector, and this case.. For games, I'd recommend BotW, Splatoon 2, and Odyssey (I assume by the time you have enough saved up odyssey will be out, it comes out in a month)

u/Mr-Apollo · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I'm looking to buy a Switch case and I am having trouble deciding which one to go with. The Hestia Goods case looks good but I'm skeptical of the quality because of the low price. The RDS case also looks good but slightly more expensive.

Which one should I go with? Additionally, do either of these cases hold the charger well?

u/TheEdgeOfTheInternet · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I'm not sure which case is the official case, but I have this one (officially licensed) and I fit 4 joycon straps no problem.

u/kyle1elyk · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Reposted because apparently Amazon links are affiliated. Should be fixed now:
I plan on getting this one,I like how it looks plus it has some game cases and a handle.

u/Wav_Glish · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I currently have the RDS Game Traveler Deluxe Travel Case on order. I'm not sure if I love the handle on top, but it seems sturdy and well protects the Switch. If anyone has a better suggestion, post it in the comments!

(Also, I recall someone getting this case early and posting a review - I can't seem to find it. If anyone has it, please let me know!)

u/jdimaria3 · 1 pointr/GameSale

It's this one: Link

I originally bought it from Amazon, used it for about 5 months (during which I actually traveled with it 4 times and the rest of the time it just sat on a shelf) and then bought a new one, so this one has just been sitting around. I can take some timestamps as well if you'd like

u/Tyronne_Lannister · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

"Must have" is a stretch, like the other commentators said you have everything you need in a box. however, here's some accessories that I'm picking up for it:

  • 128 GB Micro SD Card - for downloading eshop and future VC games
  • Travel Case - to keep my baby safe
  • And eventually a power brick, once I read some reviews with the Switch and which ones are the best

Some people are purchasing extra controllers/grips, but I'm set with the two Joy Cons for what I'm playing.
u/Kwayzhar · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I drag mine behind me using the intestines of the Silver Lynels I've slaughtered.

When that's inconvenient, I use this.

Both are pretty effective.

If you're worried about theft, get a small portable safe... actually those are kinda heavy. Might want to get a few thousand helium balloons to help carry it. Problem solved!
