Something like this may help give you piece of mind, it braces the door and makes it impossible to open without breaking in (no install required):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N95IVSQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3/131-9636531-7480519?ie=UTF8&qid=1523639322&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=Floor+Door+Lock&dpPl=1&dpID=41%2BC74ocfzL&ref=plSrch

Fuck that creep, sorry that happened to you.

Consider getting a door jammer DoorJammer Portable Door Lock Brace for Home Security and Personal Protection https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N95IVSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_huAMDbSYFV7MK

Tomorrow, go down to your home improvement store and get an Angel lock. If that doesn't fit your door, look for a floor lock.

Keep your phone charged and keep it with you. Look up how long average police response times are in your neighborhood, and make plans accordingly.

Stay safe.

Man, if you have chairs on "hard" surfaces... get the rollerblade wheels. You go from "scraping" with every move, to silently gliding around.

Just buy some variation of this:
https://www.amazon.com/DoorJammer-Portable-Security-Personal-Protection/dp/B00N95IVSQ

This will fix the problem while you are at home at least. If they say they want to come in, say there was no notice.

u/cardinal29 · 40 pointsr/legaladvice

I'd put a chain up, and use it whenever you are home. If you can't do that (screw holes, etc.) there are security door stoppers or this device that stops maintenance people, even if they have a key.

So this absolute toenail of a woman has violated yours and SO's boundaries multiple times? She's been told a dozen time to cut that shit out and hasn't?

Get a lock for your door.

Can't do any damage to your door or frame of the door with screws because it's a rental or you're staying temporarily?

I got you.

Doorjammer. Easy operation, slide and adjust.

Addalock. Installs quickly, no tools needed, and easier to hide in case someone for whatever reason throws a fit about the door being locked.

Also, something else.

Door Stop Alarm. It doesn't lock the door, but it lets out a hell of a noise when it's tripped. Wanna embarass this toenail or just feel like being a bit petty? Boom, noisemaker.

No one is allowed into your room without permission. It is yours and SO's space, not for anyone else to invade. She is stomping your boundaries, and has not listened after being told to cut it out.

Is there an off chance that this woman is experiencing dementia? It might explain [but not excuse!] why this keeps happening.

$500 chair that comes with shitty wheels?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CGZPOK2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You can probably find cheaper ones that are the same thing on amazon, I had bought these though.

Not sure if your chair has caster wheels or not. If it does - these are specifically designed to solve your problem. It replaces the plastic crap that comes with your chair with a soft rollerblade wheel. I had this problem and this worked for me.

Don’t know about this exact brand, but these types of wheels will be a lot easier on your carpet. Battlestation looks great btw! That wallpaper is sick.

u/flurrypuff · 17 pointsr/LetsNotMeet

I’m a fan of some sort of doorstop too. They even make products like this that you can even take when you travel!

u/Ageez85 · 16 pointsr/LetsNotMeet

The neighborhood watch is a really good idea. If ur able to talk with the people that live directly by you, next door, across the hall, and let them know what has happened, possibly exchange numbers so you have people right by you to call if u get spooked. Maybe some can even step outside their apartment when you get home from work and wait till you get inside.

Also there are many different products like this doorjam hopefully I did the link correctly 1st time I’ve done one but that might help you feel little more secure. This is just an example I haven’t researched them so don’t know which ones are most effective.

Weird situation. I would think if people wanted to break in or do something else they wouldn’t draw so much attention to themselves beforehand but who knows. Glad your husband got some time off to stay with you. Sorry u have to deal with this idiot. I hope it stops and things get better for you guys, be safe.

u/funkdenomotron · 14 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Get some clear urethane office chair casters. I use these on my on hardwood, no mat. They are awesome, roll smooth, and no marks. I give them a wipe down with a damp cloth once a month or so to remove any sand or grit they pick up from the floor. I also use these on heavy music gear like speaker cabinets, or anything else that comes with those terrible hard plastic casters.

You're gonna get into a gaming chair vs buy a used herman miller / other brand expensive office chair debate in this thread.

For a straight up gaming chair, I have a SecretLabs Omega gaming chair, and I really like it. It was about $300, is nicer than some of the cheaper chairs, and the bolsters aren't too crazy so you can sit in it like a human, it's not like a 'racing' chair like some of the gaming chairs. I recommend it. I am a 5'10 male about 200 lbs.

I would make sure whatever you get has at least these options:

  1. Adjustable lean for the whole chair, so the butt and back move together

  2. Separate, adjustable back, like a car seat, where you can also just adjust the back

  3. Arm wrests that can be at least adjusted up and down (the Omega can adjust up down, left-right, and forward-back)

  4. Make sure the piston is rated for your weight, example if you weigh 200 lbs, look for a chair rated like 225 lbs or more to be safe. Otherwise the piston may die after a few years.

I also use one of these on the chair, helps the tailbone out.

u/AnotherGraham · 13 pointsr/battlestations

I think it's a pretty safe buy. You get a lot of features common on $1k+ herman Miller's for a fraction of the cost.

At this point it's unlikely that the legal system has a lot to offer you. It's a fairly blunt instrument, and most legal protections kick in after the fact, not pre-emptively. Even a restraining order would generally require a pre-existing pattern of harassment or violence, which isn't evident from your post.

You're doing the right thing by prioritizing getting out of this situation. In the interim, it might be worth keeping your phone charged and on your person whenever you're at home, and locking the door when you use the bathroom. If you want something a little stiffer than a bathroom privacy lock, removable door braces exist, but they're ultimately only as strong as the door itself.

Depending on how comfortable you feel with this, you may also want to sit your roommate down and spell out, clearly, that your sexual relationship is over, that he is no longer to touch you for any reason, and that you will treat continued unwanted touching as sexual assault. That's very confrontational, and you can expect your roommate to be angry… but enforcing this boundary is important to you and to your safety, and his anger is his problem.

He cannot legally lock you out over this. If you aren't on the lease, he can give you notice to terminate your tenancy, but that gives you a full month to find another place to live.

Get one of these door wedges then it can't easily be opened even if unlocked.

u/Bricker1492 · 6 pointsr/legaladvice

Oh, no! Not anxiety?

Sadly, your anxiety is not a particularly relevant factor. The landlord generally has the right to do things like place lock boxes, which are a standard practice for realtors.

If it will help your anxiety, perhaps can invest in https://www.amazon.com/DoorJammer-Portable-Security-Personal-Protection/dp/B00N95IVSQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=DBZ8MUT2B9P6&keywords=door+jammer+portable+door+security+device&qid=1556402640&s=gateway&sprefix=doir+jammer&sr=8-3

This lets you secure your door from inside while you’re home, even in the face of a person armed with a key. You could then answer the door and confirm that it’s a real estate agent and not a ne’er-do-well.

But you have to let the agent in.

You can get a door jammer to use when you're home. You can simply not answer the door and the landlord will not be able to enter. It's removable and requires no alteration to the apartment. If you're (rightfully) concerned able people being in your apartment when you're not there it may be worth the investment to get a couple cheap cameras.

u/submitizenkane · 5 pointsr/holdmycosmo

Could be longer than that. I slipped and fell on my tailbone a couple years ago and it still hurts sometimes. For the first 6 months or so, I had to use a pillow like this to be able to sit without too much discomfort. I literally had to take it with me everywhere. I’m young and fit, too, which made it all the more embarrassing. I’m lucky though, some people get coccyx injuries that never go away, even after surgery.

u/txbruno · 4 pointsr/preppers

I am not sure if you are traveling in a single location or multiple areas for your work, but either way I would scout the area and locate various points of interest. Police, medical, fire, grocery/supply stores. Also educate yourself about possible natural risks such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornados and flesh out a plan for what you would do in such an event. See if the hotel has a evacuation plan for emergencies and review it.

Do you have a door wedge security device for your hotel, it will increase your safety in the room and help prevent intrusion. Something like this

u/THE_DUCK_HORSE · 4 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

No posters, I’m pretty sure you’re going to get worse harassment if you retaliate sadly.

I would get a dead bolt, security system, and a door stopper or jammer . I’m neurotic and would probably get an additional deadbolt and jammer for my bedroom door just in case the above fail.

u/Andrewjunk123 · 3 pointsr/DIY

Reddit did not like my text. here it is. I wanted to replace my glass L-shaped computer desk as I had it for 10 years and wanted to fix issues I had with it. So I laid out my requirements:

  1. I wanted a wood top, as glass, while easy to clean and maintain, is colder than wood.
  2. Improve cable management to hide as many cables as possible. Glass/metal table not effective here
  3. Hidden power strip
  4. No table legs blocking me from moving back and forth between home and work computer.
  5. Current glass desk is 30 inches deep, I like that depth.
  6. I wanted the table height to be able to fit my file cabinet underneath to clean up the space

I looked at roomandboard.com, and found a table I liked, but not cheap, with shipping, around $1700.

    http://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/office/desks/parsons-leg-l-shaped-desks

So can i do it myself for less?

I started by looking on r/DIY and came across pipe desks. Great idea, industrial look, and would fit in with my building as i live in a gentrified industrial neighborhood.
    Here was a great example:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/comments/2w3phn/pipe_and_butcher_block_ldesk/
Shoutout to u/tylergarner as I stole some of his ideas, such as the powerstrip he used and the metal mending strips. Thanks!

My issues with this DIY (not everyone has these constraints)
  7. Having to strip/paint pipe - i live in a loft and have limited space, fumes/vapors will kill brain cells.
  8. Loved the wood, but would have to sand, stain and poly it. Sand would get all over the loft and again, fumes/vapors.
  9. I am not experienced with staining, so may screw it up.

So i needed to solve the wood top issues and the legs problem.

    Solving the Table top issue.

I looked online for options for wood, and found options besides Lumber Liquidators that have finished wood tops
www.crosscuthardwoods.com (local portland, oregon store 2 miles from my loft) - they carried two brands
  10. Michigan Maple Butcher Block http://www.butcherblock.com/products/residential-products/residential-counter-tops/
  11. John Boos - here is an example on amazon
    http://www.amazon.com/John-Boos-Thick-Commercial-Butcher/dp/B005IZ2EZQ/ref=sr_1_19?srs=2594426011&ie=UTF8&qid=1450283655&sr=8-19&keywords=john+boos+maple

Local companies in your city may be able to order these or maybe a different brand

    Benefits of buying finished
    1. looks great
    2. Quicker/less work
    3. can be ordered with poly finish (no chemicals)
    4. can be custom ordered with edge (e.g., bullnose, square edge) and size

Issues - costs can be higher and staining is not possible

Things to consider if you choose this approach - Ensure you know if you wanted finished (Poly) or unfinished. You can get it either way. John Boos will burn their logo into the wood unless requested not to have name.

I decided on 60 by 30 by 1.5 inches thick Maple, square edge, poly and no logo. Good news is that crosscut had it in stock by both vendors.
John Boos $328 and Michigan Maple ($298). I went with John Boos as the finish was smoother and the wood pieces were the length of the table, not the traditional butcher block style.
      I bought two.

      Solving the Leg issue

I searched on line for "metal table legs" and found several vendors.
      http://www.tablelegsonline.com/table-legs.html
      http://www.tablelegworld.com/Table-Height-Table-Legs
      Ikea sells them as well

I was unsure the height so i went with cheap and fast, adjustable black legs from Ikea. $15/each needed 7 ($105 total)
One of the two tables is short a leg, below I talk about how i support the missing leg.
      https://us-mg5.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?action=showLetter&umid=2_0_0_1_344973_AIt2imIAABORVnERMgfrWKGy%2F3A&box=Inbox&src=td&.rand=1808515774

The legs are ok, adjustable, and low shine black, but not as rigid as I wanted. Not an issue when assembled, but more just me knowing it could be better. I later found out that i could buy the cool square legs from Room and Board for $40 a piece.

      Connecting the two tables together

I saw that u/tylergarner used a window sash to connect the two tables together and I was going to run with that, but I then saw this idea on the crosscut site.
      http://www.crosscuthardwoods.com/tite-joint.html

I loved the idea of tite joint, but as I did not want to burrow into the table so i looked around and found this, which I installed.

      http://www.wwhardware.com/epco-joint-fasteners-e0026e $15 shipped.

I bought a much longer screw from Ace HW to enable more space between the brackets so I am not screwing too close to the edge.
You may be able to go to a countertop store and buy one from them as they use them to connect countertops together.

      Supporting the missing leg

I installed two of the following
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-10-in-Zinc-Plated-Mending-Plate-15390/202034036 ($3 each) I used #12 screws to mount these.
These work very well, zero sag, even after sitting on it for a few mins (155lbs).

Costs before my options (Around $800). So I saved $900 over the room and board solution. I am happy.

      Options I chose to install.

How did i mount my PC underneath my desk?

I had a smaller version of the following.
      http://www.storables.com/10-x-24-shelf.html
I used 1.5 inch fender washers and screws where the legs go to mount to the table, then I used cable ties to hold of the PC (intel NUC) and USB drives.

      Note:
I did not use any of the screws provided in the legs, or options i selected. Maple is very hard and the philip screws they provided strip very, very, very easy. I went to my local Ace Hardware store and bought my screws. 5 min walk and could by individually versus a whole box from HD/Lowes. Saved money and frustration.
I generally got the biggest diameter screws I could get the fit the hole for the legs, and they are in there, zero issues. Ensure you drill pilot holes to avoid splitting the wood, I followed this guide for hardwood and was mostly successful http://engineershandbook.com/Tables/woodscrewpilotholes.htm

      Options to lower costs

  12. Buy a solid wood door and rip to size. Lowes and HD sell them.
    http://www.homedepot.com/p/JELD-WEN-30-in-x-80-in-Woodgrain-Flush-Solid-Core-Unfinished-Hardwood-Interior-Door-Slab-THDJW160700464/202036255
  13. Buy a cheaper type of prefinished wood than maple.
  14. Ikea apparently sells some countertops that can/maybe able to be used, but I did not look into it.

Got a 2 pair of door bar brackets from some small outfit. They are NOT the bitch shit most places push out of some machine. Dude uses thick steel and excellent welds. Each door bracket uses 8 lag bolts to adhere to King/Jack stud besides doors. I am a land lord and would only want my tenants to tell me first so I can make sure they install correctly. None have but I'd ask first.

Those 3" rollerblade wheels are amazing. I'm short and as anyone short would know almost every office or gaming chair sits too low compared to normal desktop height. Combining these wheels, a thicker memory foam seat cushion and a foot stool, my body and arms are ergonomical. This improved my posture and consistency while gaming

u/of_halicarnassus · 3 pointsr/cars

These seats are awful.

Buy a seat cushion. Not for the backrest, but for the actual seat. Get the "coccyx support" kind. It will raise you higher up, lowering the lumbar bulge along your spine or removing it entirely and taking pressure off your lower back.

Been a good, cheap solution for me.

  • Microsoft Natural ergonomic keyboard
  • Logitech Trackman for general mousing. I switch to a G5 for pixel work and gaming. Keep both plugged in
  • breaks every hour for the back
  • The big one: A Mobo chair mount. I can't recommend this one enough. I was having major pain in my right shoulder from mousing. Got one of these and the trackball and the pain was gone in two weeks. Simply put, it keeps you from leaning over your desk and extending your shoulders. Not cheap but worth every single penny.

Another option that doesn't damage the door: DoorJammer

u/kim_wexlers_ponytail · 2 pointsr/RBI

Until you can get the locks changed and install a deadbolt, get yourself one of these door jammers pronto. You only use it when you're inside, so it doesn't violate any landlord right to entry (since you can let them in when you're home.)

You might also want to get a cheap nanny cam and aim it at the door for when you're not home, so you'll know if anyone is entering when you're not home.

u/Tangboy50000 · 2 pointsr/gunpolitics

That’s frightening. I thought campuses were being much more proactive about the door guards and other ways of securing classroom doors from active shooters.

You could get something like this if they’re not going to do anything about security.

u/wiscoguv · 2 pointsr/Survival

You'd be better off staying in your dorm than venturing out in almost every situation. If I were you I'd get two or three of those collapsible 5 gallon water jugs (you can fill up form a showerhead or tub) and get at least two week's worth of dehydrated food or MREs. If you don't have a bathroom in your dorm room you should find some way to get rid of your urine/feces. A painters bucket from Home Depot with a top would do well, as long as you can dump it out your window if needed. I would stock up on baby wipes- more than you think you'd need- put those in the bucket. Get a crowbar and hammer so you can open up other rooms to forage if you need to- you can use pillow cases in the rooms to put things in. Get a can opener and a spoon. Get a baseball bat for defense- looks innocent enough on its own and won't raise hard to answer questions. Your dorm room has a solid door and you have all of your clothing and bedding there- so plan on bugging in and stay quiet. If you can afford it, get a [door jammer] (https://www.amazon.com/DoorJammer-Portable-Security-Device-Travel/dp/B00N95IVSQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1479072334&sr=1-3&keywords=door+security) to secure your door when you're in your room. Do not open your door to anyone or you risk losing what you have stocked up. Get duct tape and giant black lawn leaf bags so you can cover up windows if you have to. Have a small bag full of things to make [improvised alert system] (http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/detroit/2014/09/05/detroit-fire-department-has-alert-system-made-of-pop-cans/77199950/) for your hallways.

All in all you could do all of this for under 200-300$ and it's all stuff that you can use when you get an apartment.

When I first started working in an office I had back pain. I bought a cushion like this: https://smile.amazon.com/ComfiLife-Gel-Enhanced-Seat-Cushion/dp/B014F18ZGU/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1549322526&sr=8-3&keywords=chair+cushion

My back pain basically went away. In addition, you can do some exercises that help. I believe a major cause of chronic back pain is either your core or your glutes so you can try some exercises like glute bridges. Something like 3x10 glute bridges each night should help in the long run.

One can get an extra inch to inch-and-a-half by replacing the casters with larger diameter ones.
One can get quite a bit of height by changing the pneumatic tube gas lift cylinder to a taller one.

One can unbolt the existing seat from its metal bracket, and use wood or another material as a spacer between the seat bottom and the lift/tilt/swivel mechanism.

As far as I know Dragon NaturallySpeaking (now renamed Dragon Professional Individual since version 15) is significantly more accurate than Kaldi, but I have never investigated Kaldi thoroughly: it isn't plug-and-play.

I personally use Dragon NaturallySpeaking and have defined a bunch of simple voice commands. When coding, I use a mixture of voice commands and typing. The best source of information on Dragon that I am aware of is http://knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/index.cfm? I haven't taken the time yet to explore Dragon NaturallySpeaking's extension Vocola and Natlink: they may make defining voice commands more efficient and powerful.

It's a shame that Baidu/Google/Microsoft, who all the claim to match human performances for speech recognition, do not have any decent speech recognition program to use on a computer (a speech rotation program that could be used anywhere in the OS, and not just in the browser or in some specific applications).

edit: personally I would probably make something similar to the mobo thing out of wood myself or mod a nice keyboard tray to fit to chair rather than deal with flimsy plastic and small islands.
Beanbag bottom lap desks would be great but aren't wide enough for my g13 +keyboard+mousepad/mouse which is about 2'10" across all three if I am using a G19 keyboard. There are smaller keyboards out there though. If I didn't have to type messages in a game I could skip the keyboard altogether and just use G13 + mouse on an island at the end of each arm of my chair but that's not realistic for overall use dropping out of games.

I attached it but it was set up to do that. I just added some heavy duty velcro to keep everything stable.

Thanks for the discussion, I am going to read it now.

u/capgras_delusion · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

You can also install a door security bar. It's like an oversized deadbolt. Here's one example, but you can find a bunch of different types on Amazon. Here's one that's just a wall mount and you use your own 2x4.

u/clevguy · 1 pointr/preppers

You could get this- two of them. you could have it installed in less than 4 minutes.

http://www.amazon.com/Drop-Open-Security-Brackets-Boards/dp/B00H1BRXYM

u/GeneralMalaiseRB · 1 pointr/CCW

I just tried installing one of these last week. There just wasn't enough of a gap. I put the hinge protectors on, and the door had to be forced to close the last couple inches. With either the deadbolt or doorknob guard or the long frame plate installed, the door wouldn't even close. It's a metal door frame so I can't mortise anything. I took it all off and I just have to live with some extra-long screws.

And, it's not a great metal frame, and it's a pretty standard door. The metal frame probably helps some, but it's not heavy duty by any means.

So I'm going to just get a set of these and say FTW.

Being polite and responding to a casual greeting like 'How are you?' is FAR from an invitation for him to start aggressively hitting on you (or soliciting you for prositution), especially when you have already rejected him quite blatantly on many other occasions. Don't be afraid to be more direct with him, firmly tell him in no uncertain terms that you are not and will never be interested in him. Is there any way for you to get out of there and into a different place? If not, maybe you can talk to your landlord about having him removed? Regardless, you should invest in some kind of door lock ASAP- they are fairly easy to install yourself. This could be another good option.

I hear really good things about this one

http://www.staples.ca/en/Staples-Hyken-Technical-Mesh-Task-Chair-Black/product_990119_1-CA_1_20001

AND it's on sale RIGHT NOW! But do your own research first.

http://www.staples.ca/en/Staples-Bilford-Manager-s-Chair-Black/product_388248_1-CA_1_20001

The above is the one I own. I got it on sale for about $150 as well.

Mine can tilt the seat / back together simultaneously, or I can tilt the back separately as a recliner. This feature was very important for me when I went to purchase. It's better for comfort if you ask me.

I use it for gaming often. But I bought a foam seat cushion as well. I'll probably upgrade to one of those coccyx cushions in the future.

https://www.amazon.com/Coccyx-Orthopedic-Memory-Foam-Cushion/dp/B00V2L5JRA/ref=pd_sbs_201_2?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=VB3NA457G25N4RSBKT8J&th=1

If you talk to Staples staff they can usually tell you if an item is planning to go on sale within 2 weeks / 1 month timeframe. So buy with confidence and price-match.

u/kerosene31 · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

I just looked for sales on Amazon. The problem is that prices can vary a lot (and spending a lot doesn't mean you get a great chair).

I bought this one in 2017, but I spent only $120 on it, not the $220 it is now. I love it, but wouldn't have spent twice as much on it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EUU5G82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you happen to live near an office supply place (if retail still exists), they usually have floor models you can try out. Otherwise, I just watch Amazon for sales (again obviously prices really vary) and look for something that looks good. Ordering online unfortunately involves taking a little leap of faith as you can't try it out.

It doesn't hurt to throw in a little support for the backside as well. I cracked a tailbone when I was younger (a real pain in the a**!) so one of these are cheap and really make those longer sessions more comfortable.

It'll force correct posture by not having a padded back to lean back on. Keep checking CL, Thrift stores, classifieds, and flea markets for deals. Make sure you google appropriate weight limits and such before making a purchase, or search the /r/BIFL forums for older posts on appropriate brands. EZ rule of thumb is if it MSRPs for 500+ and is sold to businesses directly. They're built to last.

It sucks to have to buy something like that on your own dollar, but I ended up using it at home too! It helped a lot.

u/MrsCantankerous · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I'm so sorry! I've been dealing with this for about half my pregnancy too. First thing that helped me, was a Coccyx Cushion: https://www.amazon.com/ComfiLife-Coccyx-Orthopedic-Cushion-Sciatica/dp/B010TLSFA6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478044291&sr=8-2&keywords=coccyx+cushion. It helps a lot. I also started physical therapy and acupuncture and I've found them both to be immensely helpful. While I felt the most relief from a heating pad, my physical therapist told me that icing the area is better because the sciatica is caused by inflammation. Good luck!

Not only plan for the wait time but also the traffic. A friend almost missed her flight yesterday because of two different crashes. If she hadn't been a Clear member she would have not made it through security in time. I always allow travel time plus two hours at the airport. Sometimes that airport time is used for unexpected travel delays.

Does a butt pillow help with the sitting pain? I fell on my ass and that's the only thing that made sitting bearable while it healed.

u/PM-ME_UR_FEET_LADIES · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have tried "gaming" chairs and "deck" chairs and I really despise them all. They don't stay still because of the wheels and swively bits. I much prefer a plain wooden dining chair with a Coccyx Cushion on it.

u/mekat · 1 pointr/GirlGamers

5 foot 5.5 inches and I'm heavy. I don't do gaming chairs (nothing against them just never found them practical). I just do general office chairs and I look for one that rated around 50-100 lbs more then I am. I also look for chairs with a metal base since I find them more durable. As for my feet not reaching that isn't a problem for me because I use the desk foot rests because I find I am more comfortable with my feet elevated an extra 6-8 inches. I generally try to find office chairs that are rated for at least 6-8 hour a day sitting because they are built sturdier. I'm a very utilitarian type gal. I can't even tell you what my current chair is because I have no clue but I did get it from an office store since they rate their chairs by hours of usage so you know the durability before you buy. This isn't the exact foot rest brand I have but it is similar. Maybe it will help with the whole feet not meeting the ground thing. https://www.amazon.com/Under-Non-Slip-Ergonomic-Footrest-Cushion/dp/B01BRU9CDW/ref=sr_1_25?qid=1574657430&s=office-products&sr=1-25

The ones that come with the chair are decent enough. I just wanted to see if I could get a bit smoother roll with these.
They add about an 1 1/2” height and they do roll better than stock casters. Of course they void your warranty though since they’re not stock but yeah if you feel it doesn’t roll smooth enough for you on carpet. These are the ones I got.

Helped me a bunch I work a lot at a desk and I have felt that pain for ages your body can't place all the weight equally onto your legs and often it's essentially focused on the chair itself this helps with that issue. Don't really know how it completely helps but did for me

u/troggbl · 1 pointr/vive_vr

This is the chair i have that I've replaced the cushions for better support with.
I have it fairly far back compared to a "proper" typing position (far enough it would be called unprofessional in an office setting) and then my legs are pretty much at the same angel with a footstool like that.

I have the armrests at full height and pulled back and my forearms rest pretty much perfectly on them ending at my wrist.

The only time I have problems is if I drop something and the game doesnt have a jumpy pickup system. That can be pretty annoying/painful sometimes.

And not really sure what a hybrid board would be, but if I have to support my weight its pretty much a no go as I'd need my walking sticks.

I have a long-term back injury as I was hit by a car while on a motorcycle at 60mph back in 2011 - broke over a dozen bones, screwed up my spine, and have permanent nerve damage. I don't think I was lasting even 60mins on a piano bench. I did two things which had miraculous effects. First, I also put on lower back and upper back braces before sitting down on the piano bench. Secondly, I now sit on a thick memory foam cushion on top of the piano bench. Your mileage might vary, but the combo of these three items has been nothing short of miraculous for me. The other day, I sat 2 straight hours at the piano and there was not even one peep from my back.

Honestly people. Stop buying into esport/streamer hype.

You want a comfortable chair? Keep your current one. Buy cushions that are designed to support your back/ass:

Currently using these two: For my tush and for my back. $40 turns your shitty chair into a dxracer with probably better armrests ( at least my $100 staples chair has cushioned armrests )

Don't buy into the hype. I'm sure they're nice chairs but $300? If you had that kind of money to dispose of then use it on your PC.
