I sometimes have Amazon packages with the tape cleanly cut on one side of the box, enough to lift the lid and slide a snake scope in to view the contents. I suspect there's a thief who works for a certain large shipping company discretely stealing certain types of items. I should start noting the packages and see which relay points the shipments have moved through.

Thankfully, he wasn't wanting a big head squirrel feeder this week.

I think you'll be fine. Just keep an eye on it. You can tell if your substrate is starting to get saturated near the bottom, that's what the concern is.

As for a fogger, it super simple to rig up.

Main part https://www.amazon.com/Fountain-Rockery-Fishtank-Birdbath-Atomization/dp/B00PAK21WU/ref=pd_sim_86_19?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00PAK21WU&pd_rd_r=8PH8MMNE08B2TADGYR4K&pd_rd_w=ToMsg&pd_rd_wg=5yoGe&psc=1&refRID=8PH8MMNE08B2TADGYR4K

What i used for mine -

Container - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-1-Gal-Canister/16408650

Airpump - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Aqua-Culture-20-60-Gallon-Double-Outlet-Aquarium-Air-Pump-1-Ct/10532634

Airstone - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Aquarium-Air-pump-Accessories-Set-Air-Stones-Check-Valves-Airline-and-Connectors/309998568

What those parts will allow you to do is make a container that a small amount of water sits in. you submerge the fogger and also have the 2 air stones submerged. route all hoses and cables through the lid leaving a big enough area to put in a output of some sort. This will vary per person due to all of us having different setups. but basically pipe the output in the lid to your tank. the fogger will create the fog while the air stones create airflow and push the fog out. its a fun little project.

This isn't mine, but should give you a general idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCCdioYewxs

You can find pretty cheap pumps on amazon that will work. In Zipgrow towers they generally have 2GPH drippers in them.

The 550 should give you a total of 7.2 Ft of head pressure and give you a bit of extra flow for adding towers

> Also, be aware that if you use that transmitter you have an accuracy of +/- 0.1 psi which doesn't meet your original requirements.

if you look at this chart [http://www.dwyer-inst.com/Product/Pressure/DifferentialPressure/Transmitters/SeriesDM-2000], I will be selecting model number "DM-2003-LCD". It has range of 0"-0.5" of water. With 1% FS accuracy, it will give +/-0.005" of water accuracy. It is more than enough

>can i ask for a better description of what your attempting to accomplish?

This is for my final year project. I am trying to estimate the remaining life of an airplane filter. It is a rectangular filter with dimensions of 3" by 5". I have designed a housing to sandwich the filter in between. It is airtight and it has 2" dia intlets and outlets. Pressure drop condition given to us have been measured at a set inlet flow rate. Therefore, before I attempt to measure the pressure drop, I have to make sure the flow rate is correct. I am also thinking to put an anemometer at the circular inlet ,
and calculate the velocity at the cross section just before air goes into the filter.[https://www.amazon.ca/HOLDPEAK-866B-Digital-Anemometer-Temperature/dp/B00ZHKWCP4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1518621498&sr=8-2&keywords=anemometer] However, I don't know if doing that would yield accurate results. As you mentioned pitot tube also has its own drawback, as it measures the velocity of very small section. You would need a grid of those to get an accurate velocity measurement. Our final design needs to be something like a kit, therefore easy to assembly and operate. Putting a grid of pitot tubes is not preferable. Therefore I am considering to use an anemometer. What do you think?

u/Anydudewilltellyou · 2 pointsr/HVAC

Sounds like you've diagnosed unbalanced airflow. First, follow the route that the air takes as it travels from the air handler out to the rooms, and between the floors. Have you ever seen a small handle that you don't know what it does? Some systems have dampers placed within the system, to adjust airflow during the seasons. If you have one or more, they may be in the wrong position, restricting to flow to upstairs.

You might want to buy one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/HoldPeak-HP-866B-Portable-Measuring-Anemometer/dp/B00ZHKWCP4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466132432&sr=8-1&keywords=HoldPeak+HP-866B

It will help you even out the flow between vents, so that all rooms can share equally in what your system is capable of putting out.

  1. Most of the standard siphon vacuums you can find in stores would work. The hardest part with those is the source needs to be higher than the destination. So taking water out is pretty easy since the bucket is usually lower than the tank. But getting the bucket of water higher than the tank is more difficult. I used this one for a bit:

    https://www.petsmart.com/fish/maintenance-and-repair/vacuums/top-fin-aquarium-gravel-vacuum-5162807.html

But it's a lot easier to just get a motorized fluid pump for pumping water back into the tank. Something like this (but there are cheaper $10 versions):

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00APU2X0K/

  2. You probably saw the Mag-Float:

    http://www.magfloat.com/

    https://www.amazon.com/Gulfstream-Tropical-AGU030SM-Mag-Float-Aquarium/dp/B003WRKVUC

Edit: Forgot to mention, the siphons usually remove water faster than I can clean the tank, so I like using this to clean my tank since it pumps the water back into the tank while catching all of the waste/debris:

  • This is my opinion, and you'll find some that will contradict me, but dethatching with a power rake (or similar machine) is hard on the lawn. If thatch build up is low, I tend to skip it.
  • I bought this to gauge my sprinkler You can plug that down under the sprinkler then time it, see how much collects, then you have an idea how long you need to leave it out there to get the depth of watering you want. Since the package I bought is out of stock, this will work too
  • For weeds you can use Ortho Weed B Gone, Roundup for lawns, Bayer Advanced Weed Killer, but anything with the chemical 2,4D in it will work. You can buy 2,4D directly and mix it in your own spray can if you'd like. But that may be overkill for your yard as most any spray bottle you can buy off the shelf will likely be plenty of weed killer for you. If you buy an off the self product, just make sure they say safe for lawns. When I spray, I generally only spray directly on the weeds to kill them instead of blanketing the lawn with it. But keep in mind, 2,4D based products won't kill crabgrass. They target the broadleaf weeds like Dandelions. To stop crab, you have to use pre-emergents, dig them up by hand, or hit them with Qinclorac. (And I tend to fight them in that order)
  • Mowing: Yes, mulch them back into your lawn. You're putting the fert in there, let the organic matter break back down and feed the next gen.

    Good luck!

Lawn care can be as simple or as crazy as you want to make it. The Lawn Care Nut on YouTube is a great resource for tips.
u/MeatsATX · 2 pointsr/landscaping

100% agree. Tree needs a serious thinning.

Get some milorganite on the lawn and start watering heavily. St Augustine will die if it dries out and that is what it appears occurred.

1" per week is the minimum. If you don't know how much that is (it is more than you think) you will need to measure it with irrigation audit devices or use tuna cans.

I have used a set of these for several years.

Hey i've always been wondering - do you submerge the mistmaker in the tank itself and that's OK for the fauna? The ones like this I'm guessing you're talking about. Asking as I've got a 40g paludarium that's honestly more for orchids than fish but definitely will get at least shrimp in the water eventually

I have this 291 GPH pump, $21.99 on Amazon.

I used it last weekend. Ran the water out until the wort was down to about 100°F then recirculated into a 5 gallon bucket of ice water. Cut my chilling time by over half.

I love it for draining my DWC buckets. A regular shop vac would work great too but I like having this dedicated for draining them out.

u/211logos · 2 pointsr/CampingGear

Nice enough, but could do better.

For example, get a Terapump battery pump like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00APU2X0K/ref=s9_hps_bw_g60_i5

You might have to do some lengthening of the hose, and add a shower fitting, but it works on batteries (so you're not tethered to the vehicle, and hence maybe don't need the tent either) and does 10qt/min, roughly 2.5x the flow. And can do fuel and is cheaper.

And don't use those cheap Aquatainer things. Leaky and the fittings are junk. Get the Sceptre or LCI containers instead, http://www.buylci.com/ItemDisplayF.aspx?D1=SKILCRAFT-Water-Can-Desert-Tan--5-gal--5-gal&ItemID=906396. Far sturdier, with big openings so you could drop in your pump without having to fiddle with a bucket, although they're handy sometimes. I added a hose fitting and air valve to mine and just use a bike pump to add pressure to shoot out water.

Still, I prefer shower bags. Unfortunate he holed his, but they are simpler than all that gear and also solve the heating issue. And cheap.

u/mikeg53 · 2 pointsr/hydro

For my small nursery/seed starting I use little tubs like that and give air with a 10 gallon airpump. I think they're $9-12 at amazon. Get a good airstone - not those little round ones the diameter of a penny - but get one that is 2-3" around. They're cheap. You cannot circulate too much air.

With a later than few-gallon container, you'll want a water pump to move the water around. You can just get a small aquarium pump and not hook up an output line, turn it sideways, and it will do the job fine.
I use these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JPGID2/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You can get similar (prob made by the same china shop) at Harbor Freight for $15 sometimes or even less with a coupon.

Cant comment on compost tea other than it smells like poo and I wouldnt want that in my basement where I grow stuff :-)

u/jason955 · 2 pointsr/electronics

I have a mechanical anemometer I bought off amazon for like $25us and it works great but I use it to measure higher speed wind 5-20 knots, so not sure how well it would work at lower levels. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZHKWCP4

u/whirledwarotter · 2 pointsr/space

I'd say something hands-on and very pracitcal like a telescope or if you're willing to shell out a lot of cash (or share with your sibling) an astrophotography camera lens (dunno what the cheapest one is) or this https://www.amazon.com/d/Garden-Suncatchers/Amlong-Crystal-Solar-System-Stand/B00THHMU4Q/?pldnSite=1 if he appreciates art and likes to look at things. But a telescope would be best since you said he isn't into sports. That way he can have a physical activity without dealing with sports. I say hands-on is best because this age the kids are all over the internet and a refreshing physical activity is always very welcome and he'll appreciate it a lot if he can do cool stuff about space. I'm glad you're taking note of his interests and you're making sure he keeps it :)

u/ArizonaLad · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

Before you do anything, you should either balance the system yourself, or hire someone to do it.

Maybe you do have a system that is insufficient for your needs. It happens all the time. But you first should make sure that the current one is working to peak efficiency, before you spend your money.

If you want to try this yourself, you might look into purchasing two items. A non-contact thermometer:

https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Meter-IR-20-Non-contact-Infrared-Thermometer/dp/B00R19ANCS

And an air flow meter:

https://www.amazon.com/HOLDPEAK-866B-Digital-Anemometer-Temperature/dp/B00ZHKWCP4

This way you can quickly see how much air is coming out of each vent, and how cold or hot it is. This will allow you to balance out the system, helping to insure even airflow into all the rooms, on all stories.

Proper airflow is the key. If you have dampers, adjustable registers, or both, then using these tools should allow you to reduce the conditioned air where you don't need it, and send it in sufficient volumes to where you do want it.

u/averageanomaly · 1 pointr/microgrowery

Ahah, just post this on Shroomery or something. Buy a pond fogger and stick in in a bowl of water in your fruiting chamber and that'll do the trick, maybe add H202. It's easier than misting with one of those high pressure sprayers that might too direct and harmful for the fruit or something.

(EDIT): try this

can't really gauge the size of your tent but you can always raise your lights up higher and put your plant up on something while you recover to make the watering easier. maybe a cheap $9.99 ikea table and just putting your plant on it so its a lot higher up?

you can also look into a hand held liquid pump such as this one https://www.amazon.com/TeraPump-TRHA01-Battery-Operated-Pump/dp/B00APU2X0K/ref=pd_sim_263_9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=6CN1BPZ04P6BRRFNMTEC which might make watering a bit more tolerable.

I found this pump that I am considering ordering and giving a shot.

After speaking with my mother about this idea, she's going to get together with my father and see what they can come up with as far as a vest/shirt.

u/hoobahans · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

About a year ago I purchased this after going through multiple cloth bath mats that got smelly and fell apart in the washer. I was skeptical at first but have really fallen in love with it, as has my gf. To clean it I just put it in the shower and spray it down. It dries fast and looks classy.

u/Notevenspecial · 1 pointr/HVAC

Checking each of the vents airflow is step 1 of this process. Get something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/HoldPeak-HP-866B-Portable-Measuring-Anemometer/dp/B00ZHKWCP4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466132432&sr=8-1&keywords=HoldPeak+HP-866B

This little device tells you how hard the air pressure is coming out of the vent. Ideally, small rooms get low flow, and large rooms get higher airflow.

This should help you get adequate flow to each room.

Had to Google "wooden bath mat." Never heard of such a thing. Here's what I found. Technically you could do that with a hand saw, but I wouldn't. Ripping wood by hand is hard labor, and you wouldn't get even results. That kind of project begs for a tablesaw, or at least a circular saw.

u/Exploding_Knives · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thank you. So if 600 L/hr is not necessary, I can cut the price a good chunk by buying this, this, or this.

Which one do you recommend? I know they all look a bit sketchy and none of them include pressure specs, but they do show amperage if that makes a difference. I'm avoiding going with a hugely expensive pump.

EDIT: I found this on Amazon. It's cheaper and will require me to get a Molex connector, but it's a great price and I think it fits in with your suggestions.

Three.

Oh, and if I happened to win, I'd want the Womens owlbear design shirt on my list called Liszt, which is also a fairly weird item if you think about it.

I use this one and it works well...maybe not quite as fast but it knocked my 5 gal wort down to 60 degrees in about 10 minutes.

That's a dozen of those Orbit catch cups and stands for $27, not just 1. Not bad.

There are also these in a 10 pack:

Yeah, I've always seen the cheap recommendation to use empty tuna cans / cat food cans, and spread multiple ones around.

So as long as we're not looking for a mobile....

You'll need to put together a few things. It's important to say that this is a level of building that I would feel comfortable doing with my 10 year old nephew, so you should be up to it.

You'll need a small water pump. I use this, pump

Some surgical tubing, 10 feet or so.

An ice chest

A couple towels

Some sewing needles and thread.

A small DC power supply.

And BLOCK ice. Not ice cubes, they melt to fast.

Lay a towel out and start sewing surgical tubing to it. You want to make "S" shapes but sew it down so that it doesn't crimp. You'll also want both ends of the tubing to exit the towel on the same corner.

Plug the tubing onto the water pump, and plug it in to the dc power supply. Careful that the cord doesn't get wet, 12 volts won't kill you, but it's annoying.

You now have a Cold blanket. You can stitch another layer of towel on, and I recommend it, to finish it off.

Put it between your sheets and enjoy a cold bed.

Every time I go on Muthead on desktop it always has a Amazon ad for THIS it's a life size Velociraptor. One day I told myself I'm going to buy it at some point, so I guess the ad worked.

Thanks!

It's actually a DWC/Aero hybrid. It's a relatively shallow plastic storage container with 2 of these and an airstone in the reservoir. This way I can use it for cloning, germination (kind of) and full scale growing for things like lettuce/leafy greens. I cobbled it together for $50 or so.

I'm using the General Hydroponics Flora Series with 25ml of each per 5 gal (reservoir capacity). PH ranges from 5.9 to 6.4 but I try to keep it at 6.3 because that seems to be the best. Honestly, I haven't used my PPM meter at all this year - I could check when I get home if you really want to know!

I'll probably just grab this guy, since he seems pretty cheap: https://amzn.com/B006M6MTMI

new question: given that the sprinkler/drip design would give some oxygenation of the water, do you think I could skip getting an air pump/bubbler?

u/helpfiles · 0 pointsr/shrooms

That does look like bruising. Did you handle the cake or touch the base of those stems any?

I've seen cakes bruise from rapid drying but not stems, yet.

For the humidity issues, I use an ultrasonic atomizer submerged in a container of water connected to a programmable logic controller but you could connect one to a timer easily also. It takes a little tweaking but once you figure out the interval to maintain 95%+ humidity it is very low maintenance. I use a 1.5L container of water and fill it every 2-3 days.

The above is in addition to the typical PF tek with perlite, but I use a larger fruiting chamber. specifically a 50gal resin deck box. The concepts are the same and you could adapt to use a smaller container of water for the a smaller chamber.

edit: sorry if i offended someone? not sure what i said that is so bad...

Here you go. Admitedly there are better redesigns of the gadsden with the rainbow stripes, but this is the only one I've found that you can buy as a flag.

Not sure about new sod, but for established grass, 1+ inch a week. I do half an inch every 4 days.
