thanks for all of that - I got some stuff during my lunch break, curious to know what you think:

I got this as the needle valve

was thinking of this on/off valve simply because I don't want to wait for shipment from HK

for diffuser - I use a hang on back filter (Aquaclear50) and I feed the tube in the intake and have it chopped up by the filter.

I bought the telfon tape already along with the check valve
