DLCs are mostly multiplayer skins and weapons (which might be unlockeable through normal means, not sure), while there is more single player content, it's just one DLC. It's just one tomb and it takes about 2 minutes to solve.

Multiplayer isn't even that great, it just seems something they added because they were forced too. It's not terrible, and there can be joy if you play with a bunch a friends, but it's not well executed.

While Tomb Raider 2013 is honestly one of my favorite games from last gen, I wouldn't recommend the GOTY edition when the base game is cheaper. It's honestly the same experience with a $2 difference, and I don't think $2 is worth spending a bunch of useless DLCs for espescially when the steam sale is coming up.

As for the Timecards, they seem to be going out of stock only temporarily as they restock their supply of codes from SE. They've come and gone about three times now so just be patient and check back in 30 minutes to an hour. After a few days of waiting, I got my key for Dishonored from Gamersgate a few days ago. I'm about 4 hours in, and really enjoying it. I'm trying for an all non-lethal game but not going back if I have to kill a few guards. It's quite fun and tense to take a guard down when you know another one could turn at any minute and come after you and narrowly escape carrying the body. I've been playing it on hard even though i'm not the best stealth-er, and I think it's the sweet spot for difficulty. If I do a second playthrough I might go all-lethal, because it sounds fun as well.

Also juuust started Dark Souls as it finally went on sale now that I have a controller. What can I say? It's as tough as people say it is. Currently i'm just camping at a bonfire, re-starting basic enemies just to learn to parry so I don't keep dying. I thought it'd be frustrating to die a lot, but I think i've heard so much about it being hard, I have accepted that I will die, and I just need to try to be better... and die less.

To those picking it up. It has issues but most are fixed with (tiny) mods.

• DSFix: Fixes the resolution and other bits and bobs , needed to run other mods.
  
• DSMFix: Fixes the horrible mouse targeting (which is why a controller is recommended in the first place).
  
• DSCFix: Allows instant summons (co-op) with people from your (gfwl) friends list (otherwise is a hassle).
  
  I highly recommend this game to people who like a challenge. By far the best RPG I played to date.

I'd wait for Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition ($7.49). I bought it and I love it, but you need a controller since it's a straightforward port, but also if you're not into first person action RPGs, then maybe Bioshock 1 and 2 ($4.99) or Batman Arkham GOTY Pack ($11.49) for action. Then there's Microsoft 5-Game Arcade/Indie Pack ($9.99) if you want to go casual (or just get Mark of the Ninja ($3.75) from it). Some people like The Storming, Burning, Reflecting, Flaming, Sabotaging Pack ($9.99).

If you like strategy games, I'd either look at the Paradox bundles or wait for X-COM and Civ V Gold because I think they'll be cheaper later this month. Oh, and there's the Sonic Action Pack ($9.99) if you like platformers. I don't myself, but Generations make it a great deal for $10.

I've never played it, but It's $15 from Amazon. And don't forget it's a monthly subscription, too.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is 13.81 on Amazon and you get a Steam key that you can activate.

It is a fantastic game, check my post history to /r/shouldibuythisgame for some reasons on why.

Not sure if it's worth it with a subpar graphics card - parts of the game can get framerate intensive. However, the game itself is absolutely worth buying if you like the idea of a challenging open-world RPG.

EDIT: Here is one such example. There is a small mod you can download to bump up the game's graphics - very simple installation. Use of a controller is recommended, but not strictly necessary.

The reason it required Vista at the time is the DirectX 10 requirement; all newer versions of Windows also have DX 10. When the game was released, however, your two main operating systems for gaming were XP or Vista, and the latter sucked if you didn't have hardware with Vista drivers available. Since Win 7, DirectX 10 requirements haven't been an issue.

Every Steam Sale you can get Morrowind and Oblivion GOTY for like $5, Skyrim Legendary is usually around $7.49.

It goes on sale more times a year than I can count. But you can also get the Elder Scrolls Anthology, it has EVERY Elder Scrolls from Arena to Skyrim and all DLC for Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.

It also comes with new and updated maps for Tamriel, High Rock/Hammerfell, Morrowind, Cryodill, and Skyrim (fair warning, this map isn't as good as the map that came with Skyrim, which was made with a thicker paper).

I'd say go for the Elder Scrolls Anthology if you want every game, or wait till the next sale on Steam.

   Palace of the Dead is a randomly generated dungeon that you do 10 floors at a time. It uses an independent leveling system, so the levels you gain inside the palace don't directly affect your levels outside the palace. After each set of 10 floors is completed, you gain a large chunk of experience towards that class (Between levels 30 and 50 you will gain upwards of half a level worth of experience for one set of 10 floors).
   
   You can choose to go in as just the two of you alone, or if you can get matched up with two other random people to go in as a party of four. There's no particular benefits of going in with less than four people, but you'll still be able to clear it for the most part.

For those looking to get the digital download, here a tip:

DON'T BUY THE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD FROM THE SQUARE ENIX STORE!

Digital River, Square-Enix's distributor is awful and should be avoided as much as possible. The distributor has had a reputation of being very unreliable in the past. Even a moderator admit that they've had "plenty of issues" with them through the years.

After you make your purchase, you don't immediately don't get your game code. Aside from the "Thank you for your order. Your order is being processed and you will be notified of the result shortly" message after you confirm your purchase, you don't get even get as much as a confirmation email telling you that your order has been received. You will still get charged for your order. According to a Digital River support representative, they need between 24-72 hours to "review" your information... on a digital download, after they've charged you for the product. This might be fine in some instances (but it's still done in poor taste), if they informed you of the delays before your purchase. But alas that's not how they do things and SE doesn't seem to have taken any action to rectify this.

You can try to find your order at this site, but you might not find it if your order has not been reviewed (which can take more than two hours, according to reports from the SE forums). It's almost as if Square-Enix hates money -- with, partners like Digital River, no wonder they're struggling financially.

Even if you contact SE support, they'll just direct you to Digital River's support line. For those of who who have already ordered the digital download and have not received your game code (or even a confirmation email), you can call Digital River's customer support at 1-866-585-3251 or cancel your order by following the instructions.

If you or anyone you know would like to try FFXIV:ARR, while they might not offer the same discount, redirect them to any of these other sites (for you folks in North America). I've deal with the following or know people who have and I know that you won't have to deal with all the waiting and frustration with these distributors:

Dark Souls, most definitely. All of the people I have convinced to purchase the game have clocked in around 90+ hours as well. Really well made game, aside from GFWL, not that it particularly matters in your case considering ping is a problem for you already and Dark Souls PVP is already always laggy (at least in my experience) regardless. It's also on sale on sale for $7.50 due to the huge Amazon sale going on. The DLC is fantastic, as well. Probably the best part of the game, in fact.

If you've got Halo Combat Evolved on PC, you can download Halo CE (that's custom edition) for free here. CE allows for more flexibility with regards to online play (custom maps, some of which have been modded) but lacks single player (although there are modded multilayer maps built for single-player use), which is made up by the Combat Evolved install.

Also remember to download the 1.0.10 patch before attempting to connect to the internet otherwise you won't be able to find any servers!

As for the Combat Evolved game, there are several ways to obtain a copy one of which is though Amazon. There are probably some other vendors selling it for cheaper but I don't know which would be best for you so I suggest you take a look yourself. Remember to keep a copy of your Combat Evolved product key as you will need it in order to instal CE.

There are, of course, other ways to obtain Combat Evolved, but I don't recommend it.

There are NO ranking systems or playlists, just custom games, usually only FFAs on lockout or midship. Its still fun though. Yea. I wouldn't expect that they have any obligation to do it, but it's worth a try. The way I look at it, neither ArenaNet, nor GamesRocket has a real blame for it. The only reason I suggest to ask ANet for help is that they might be able to do something. You might be right that there's some legal reason that will prevent them from doing it, but I think you're making an assumption. ANet claims that "when you buy a EU copy, you support your EU data center". Whether there's some regional market deal at play, who knows. I personally think they just struck up distribution deal in various countries, and nothing more than that. Some retailers like GMG sell both.

But before we crap all over GamesRocket for "mislabeling" their product and being misleading, I'd like to point out that most other retailer also don't label the regional restrictions. Let's look at a few English ones:

  This isn't the regulated region locked DVD market that has an established standard where consumers should know about and where retailer know to post that information. I think online retailer should be clearer, yea. I don't know who's to blame, but I don't think anyone is legally at fault here, so we're left with one stranded customer that kinda feels screwed. I think he's ultimately to blame for his mistake.
  
  On the flip side, is it reasonable to expect every buyer to go to the official website to learn about the region lock? Not really. So, if anyone could do anything, since the retailer already declined a refund, the only place to ask for help is ANet. Whether it will work, I don't know. But what I was suggesting is to ASK for help rather than merely ask the question whether he'll be able to play with his EU copy. Finding who's to blame won't get him anywhere, so better to admit the mistake and ask ANet for help if they feel included to do so. Business is messy, and sometimes you give a freebie to a client to keep them as clients. They could perhaps invalidate the serial and give him 50$ of gems on his account or some other compensation. I definitely recommend just going for that, then deciding if you want TOG (probably, it's really good despite some balance issues in 867).

That's pretty standard for the Special Edition. You might be able to get the Legendary Edition for cheaper on Amazon or somewhere else but it will require you to use Steam.

If you try to go cheaper than that, you'll be running into gray markets and scammers and stuff. Try to avoid being scammed.

Looks like they just didn't discount the combined package, so just buy both of these if you want the same thing through Amazon digitally at the discounted price.

The digital download sales have been suspended due to server issues. If you're concerned about being unable to play it, wait a week or so, or at least wait until this restriction's been lifted.

Normally I'd say "Hey if you're going to get the game anyway, you might as well buy a physical copy now", but if you buy now and can't play much for a week, you're burning part of your 30-day trial period and there's no guarantee Square's going to give a few days back in "compensation" for time lost yet. How much you care about that is up to you, really.

I ordered a physical copy, but only because Amazon doesn't allow redeeming Amazon Points (from their credit card) for digital game downloads.

It may be worth your time to wait for the Elder Scrolls Anthology to go on sale again. Picked it up for $20 and it has GOTY versions of all games and supposedly compatible versions of Arena and Daggerfall.

That said.

If you bought CE on steam, you probably only bought the base edition of the game for what looks like $32 on steamprices. You did get some in-game cosmetic items, though.

I can more or less guarantee that you probably won't miss the in-game items the CE gives. A few other things...

• FFXIV has a 2-week free trial: http://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/na/
  
• Buying the base game "ARR" comes with a 1-month sub. I recommend activating it at the end of your trial. You can play on the same character, just do it within 90 days of the trial ending!
  
• You can buy a "basic sub" for $13/mo, one month at a time. Normally if you buy a "normal sub", it'll be $15/mo for 1 month, or $14/mo for 3 months, or $13/mo for 6 months. The only meaningful difference is "how many characters can I make?" And for FFXIV, which lets you play all classes on one character, it's not much of an issue.

  Depending on how many hours/wk you can play, I'd say 2 months is a pretty good amount of time to play it. The core story (it's a very story-based game, and the writing is excellent, especially later on) takes 70-100 hours to complete. Lategame gearing to the current patch takes 10-30 hours to complete. There's tons of other side content, and to briefly experience most of it will take another 100-200 hours. There's very grindy content that can easily last 200-400 hours if you're interested, but that's a niche thing.

There's the amazon link to the bundle you need to buy, it includes both ARR and Heavensward. All servers are cross platform so you can play with PS3/4 players as well as PC, you just have to have individual licenses if you decide to do both (Can't buy PS4 license and play on PC, for example).

The newest expansion, Stormblood, arrives in June and offers two new playable classes: Samurai and Red Mage. you will only be able to play these classes if you've purchased Stormblood, though.

Having access to Heavensward will give you the Au Ra race at the beginning, but you will not be able to play the Machinist, Astrologian, or Dark Knight jobs until you reach Heavensward content.

Right now you can play a free trial of FFXIV. The playtime is unlimited, but there are restrictions that are applied (can't level up past 30, etc).

Yo dude, I would highly recommend buying the game + expansion off Amazon! It's under $30 there, so you'd be paying over double by purchasing it on steam. Buying on amazon also lets you choose where you purchase further packs, if you purchase on Steam, you're restricted to only buying expansions from Steam.

First off, have you played the trial yet? it's unlimited duration, but you are limited to level 35 on any class. if not, don't buy anything yet, play the trial.

you should buy ARR and Stormblood, as Stormblood includes all Heavensward, or buy the "Complete edition" That includes everything, but this will not be available until the 20th.

Edit: TL;DR: free trial, ARR+Stormblood if you get to level 35 before the 20th, otherwise just get the complete edition. Also don't get the steam version.

A Realm Reborn is the base game (2.0).

Heavensward is the first expansion (3.0), you cannot purchase it separately, as the second expansion Stormblood (4.0) comes with Heavensward.

You want to either buy the complete edition, or A Realm Reborn and Stormblood.

My recommendation is to buy everything on Amazon for $40. Steam will be $60 and any future expansions will be more expensive on there and you will have no choice but to continue buying on steam.

I'd recommend buying it new here instead of risking Ebay or other vendors. Only $20.

After you get the CD, make a backup of your disc as an ISO file, as well as as backup of your CD key. Run updates, and you're ready to play campaign mode.

You should get Custom Edition as well. Follow the instructions on the site to make sure you have the latest version, then go nuts.

Some of my favorites...

• The Baldur's Gate series by BioWare and its spin-offs built on the same engine. You can get them all in a $20 DVD-ROM here. An early precursor to Dragon Age.
  
  
• Neverwinter Nights is the next step from Baldur's Gate, before Dragon Age. Amazon has a cheap box set with all sequels and expansions.
  
  
• Fallout 1,2 and Tactics... they're not FPS like Fallout 3 but rather top-down RPGs like Baldur's Gate. Again, Amazon has a cheap box set (just make sure you don't buy the censored European version).
  
  
• Diablo II and its expansion. Get the Diablo Battle Chest to play it along with Diablo 1. The upcoming Diablo III plays a lot like the originals, so D2 will get you prepped. TorchLight is also a similar game, developed by some ex-Blizzard people I blieve.
  
  
• Of course there's Warcraft (not the MMO World of Warcraft) and StarCraft to get you into real-time strategy games. There are Battle Chests (box sets with expansions) for WarCraft III and Starcraft 1. StarCraft II is also out but it's not complete yet. (A Battle Chest for Warcrafts 1 and 2 also exists but it's out of print and expensive now.)
  
  
• All Most of the Sim games (SimCity, its sequels and its sister games like SimTower). Avoid most of the post-EA Sim games like The Sims, SimCity Societies and Spore. There are good non-Maxis, SimCity-inspired games like Cities XL and Tropico. Worth checking out sincee the "real" Sim series has gone to shit lately.
  
  
• If you want to get into MMORPGs, World of Warcraft (WoW) is the king for a reason. You can play it, and its copycat Rift, for free up until level 20. Star Wars: The Old Republic is a SW-themed WoW copycat, that plays nothing like the original BioWare Knights of the Old Republic games. Guild Wars is also a favorite... developed by ex-Blizzard peeps, you buy the game retail but don't pay a monthly fee. There's a number of other free-to-play MMOs out there, but they're mostly crap. Also, some pay MMOs are crap, too.
  
  
• Many western RPGs developed for PS3 and 360 play better on the PC (meaning, with higher graphic capabilities and a mod community), including: Dragon Age Origins and 2, Mass Effect series, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim. There's also PC ports of Fable and Jade Empire. You can usually connect a USB Xbox 360 controller if you want gamepad controls.
  
  Good Old Games and Steam are good resources for finding PC classics on the cheap as well as being patched to work on modern PCs (Windows 7 64-bit).

I'm not too sure about 2 though, when you go to pick a server you can look at what it says for it, but I think most are either high or very high. You could also try looking at guilds on servers and seeing which ones have a large group that you may be interested in joining I guess. They have Mark of the Ninja, reddit's Stealth Game of the Year 2012, on sale for $3.75. That's probably as low as it's going to go, so if you enjoy stealth games, it's a must-buy.

Crusader Kings II, the royalty simulator that has become a cult phenomenon thanks to how much it reminds people of Game of Thrones, is on sale for $9.99 (or you can get a complete pack with all the DLC for $15. If you're not intimidated by grand strategy games with somewhat steep learning curves, CKII is worth a try. If you already have CKII, it appears a lot of the DLC is on sale, as well.

Right now The Elder Scrolls Anthology is $20 on Amazon, so if you don't have the other games and don't mind waiting for it to ship you can get a really good deal, and as a bonus you get maps for each game. If you have the other games already you could also go with the Legendary Edition for $15, though you don't get the kick-ass maps with it.

Oh definitely start at Prince. I had very little experience with Civ (see previous comment) or really any similar games outside of Pharoah/Caesar and starting at Prince made it a lot more fun/challenging to start. Civ is REALLY boring if you start winning and stay winning (after like the first game...the first total domination game is pretty satisfying). And yes, wait for the epic sale! I don't know about starting with Morrowind honestly. It's definitely a hard game and it turned me away from the series for a little bit before I picked up Oblivion and loved it. Skyrim is amazing as well but I would suggest starting with Oblivion.

Lately, it seems as though Paradox has been putting their games on sale for 75% off. I managed to get EUIII during their Memorial Day sale; Crusader Kings 1+2, Paradox War Chest and Paradox Majesty Franchise during the Amazon MAYhem Sale.

Defenders of Ardania is fun for a while, but it gets old and repetitive after a while; pretty "meh" for a tower defense game.

Majesty 2 is an alright game, but if the first one was on sale I'd recommend that one instead.

You get them automatically when you preorder, you don't have to do anything special. As far as using the code goes, I doubt Amazon really has any way of tracking it. If you do not have the game already you may want to check the deal on Amazon out. You get Civ 5 Gold Edition which is everything released thus far for Civ 5+ Civ 4 Complete and XCOM: Enemy Unknown which is a pretty decent game as well especially if you turn up the difficulty.

You will get legendary that matches your level, but honestly it's not worth it. Just get to max level ASAP. The end-game meta is highly dependent on level 70 (RoS max level) gear. These are specific items/sets that you do not get in original Diablo 3. But if you've played any Diablo games, you know that getting to max level is really when the game starts. With 2.2 on the horizon, the amount of new 7 piece sets and legendary items will keep growing and you will be missing out on an insane amount of content w/o the expansion. For PC: To start playing you need just A Realm Reborn, which will grant you all content from 1-50 including the 2 years of patch content before Heavensward released. The only thing you will be missing out on is creating an Au Ra character that you can start the game as from level 1.
Then you need Heavensward, which grants access to the 50-60 content, with the new land (6 zones), 3 new jobs and the 2 years of Heavensward patch content. It also lets you either make an Au Ra character, or change your character's race to an Au Ra.
There is also a bundle where you may buy both the base game and the expansion together, but there is no bundle with Collector's Edition goodies.
You will need both collector's editions if you want all the digital goodies, or you can buy upgrades to both editions in order to get them, whenever you choose to.
On Steam it looks exactly the same. The only downside is that you are bound to buy everything on Steam and the box edition codes will not work with Steam. This makes it hard if you wish to have the physical collector's editions as their codes will not work with the Steam version and you would need to buy the collector's box and the Steam upgrade for Stormblood, for example.
For PS4:
It's the same as on PC, except the digital PSN codes and the box editions codes can be mixed and matched without issues.

Now is a good time as any to get back in! The new expansion is slated for June 20th, so you have plenty of time to get caught up.

Accounts are cross-platform, so if you simply resub your old account and log in with it on PC, your Black Mage should be there.

Edit: As the other two have pointed out, you have to get a license for PC as well. This will also include 30 days. Look for "Final Fantasy XIV Online" bundle deals, you can usually find one for $20 somewhere. Here it is on Amazon ($30 currently)

Linking a bundle with both the game and expac included below that is only $50. You will want to have the expac around the same time you hit level 50 at the latest, that way you get exp while doing the lvl 50 story missions. For an MMO ffxiv has a great story but the longevity in the game comes from doing end game content with the people that you meet in game. Whether that is raid, crafting, questing, or w/e, the people you are playing with will mainly be doing things that require you to be max level as a group. FFXIV is a story driven mmo, but you will always need to have the latest expansion to get a good and fulfilling experience from an MMO since that is where people will be spending their time.

I recently purchased the Heavensward + ARR retail bundle off of Amazon. It seems to fluctuate in the USD$25~30 range. The same version is available from SE's store for $30. I didn't see any bundle similar to this on Steam.

No; you can be a girl, but to get a dick you need to use mods. I use a mod that turns "The Emperor's New Breeches", an item you can use to transform other legwear to look as if you're not wearing it, into the futanari legs model; the regular unequipped character model is just a nude mod.

I would say yes. I started with Diablo 2, had a great time, then tried Diablo 1. D1 I think is much more difficult, and more scary to me because of the dark graphics. You can still purchase Diablo 1, but I don't know how it would install on Vista or 7 (at the time I had XP). You probably would want the Diablo Battle Chest.

Yes, it does prove the point. I am not arguing that all PC games cost $60 for everyone at every time. I am arguing that $60 PC games are not a new phenomenon.

Another example: Caesar II released in 1995, retailed at $55.

To be fair, expecting to play a game you just purchased doesn't make you entitled. It's not like Blizzard doesn't have any experience for massive release days (WOW). It was my understanding that Deus Ex: Human Revolution requires a steam account for activation.

Human Revolution is a masterpiece. Director's Cut is actually buggier. I'd recommend finding a copy of the original HR , such as this Amazon one.

As for Origin, I honestly have had no problems with it. Battlelog is quite neat as well as it works fine. There are some people who have problems with it, but understand that while there are people making posts on how bad things are, there really aren't any people making posts on how things are working fine for them. I'm not sure if I can call them a vocal minority or not, but for me and many others, things are fine.

All my favorite gaming memories are with my dad, who passed away when I was little. He would get computer games from time to time and we'd both sit at the computer and play them. Some of our favorites were Quake and Quake II. I remember we even bought all the expansion packs for Quake II, haha.

We mostly played PC games, but he bought me the PS2 right when it came out for my birthday. It was my first console! Man, we played the crap out of that thing and it's still works perfectly today. We both loved Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex, the Army Men games (Sarge's Heroes, anyone??), and Portal Runner, which was a spin-off of the Army Men games. Tomb Raider, Jak and Daxter, and MDK2: Armageddon were also favorites! We just had a great time gaming together and bonding and all that good stuff.

To this day, the PS2 is still my favorite console. So many great games and memories! =)

When someone is whining that their product is defective, I usually just disregard it because I can just send it back to amazon and get a working product. Weigh the good reviews with the bad. Don't worry over volume of reviews. Well, it sounds like you're mostly content with their direction. I can see how it might work for some. But, as for listening to the community, they simply didn't. Their reviews are abysmal. Any survey of a wider beta audience would have told them that they weren't on the mark if they had bothered to listen. I suspect Wilson is simply the fall guy for corporate mandates that were forced through from the top-down, so I don't buy that the real problem is solved until it actually is.

Don't get me wrong: I'm glad they're improving the game. But at this point, the whole experience around them is so tarnished that it's going to be hard for them to get back the trust they once enjoyed.

BF3 is really good because there's a lot of roles to play (infantry, driver, gunner, pilot...) and it's super cheap because bf4 is coming out oct 29th. It's $40 with all the dlc, which is a good price, but it's been cheaper. Keep an eye on the price and you'll probably see another sale before too long.

Other than that, far cry 3 is awesome.

Dark Souls - You’ve probably heard about this one plenty of times. Fantastic game, brutally challenging. It has one of the most eerie atmospheres I’ve ever experienced in a game. It’s just come to my attention that Amazon will be giving accounts that bought Dark Souls through them a $5 credit towards Dark Souls 2 (post from Tony, Amazon’s gaming rep, here). Some advice if you get this game: 1. Play with a controller. 2. Get DSFix, a fan-made mod that fixes various things about the port like making the game run at true 1080p and unlocking the framerate so you can get 60fps and not 30fps.

Mount & Blade: Warband - I have logged over 160 hours in this hack’n’slash medieval simulator, and that’s just me playing the singleplayer campaign. There are people with thousands of hours played in the game’s multiplayer. Its graphics are not the prettiest, but the game is ridiculously fun. I’ve never seen it go under $5 so if you haven’t played it and you have any interest at all in being a badass sword fighter, leading a mob of knights or vikings or archers around and pillaging or saving villages and sieging/defending castles, becoming a lord or even a king/queen, get this game. Warband also has some awesome mods worth looking into, like a Roman era total conversion if you’re into that.

Metro Last Light - This game is best played after its sequel, Metro 2033 (also on sale, though it was next-to-nothing in price in that one THQ Humble Bundle). It seriously is a great FPS, better (in my sincere opinion, please don’t downvote me) than Bioshock: Infinite by miles and miles. Probably my game of the year. Insanely atmospheric and beautiful. If you enjoyed the Fallout series at all, or post-apocalyptic settings, this game is a super treat. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have much in the way of replay value since one playthrough will be enough for most, but there is a lot of detail crafted into the game’s world that’s worth exploring. On harder difficulties, the game is very tense, with scarce amounts of ammo and very dangerous situations. You can go through most of the game stealthily as well, so you may have one playthrough where you’re Rambo and another where you’re Solid Snake; a choice I always find nice.

Those are my top 3 recommendations, but there are a lot of others (the new Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite for $20 holy cow, Civilization V, et cetera) that are really good games as well. One thing’s for sure: this sale combined with the Greenlight sale and the new Paradox Humble Bundle… I have too many games to play. Too many games.

It looks like there's a problem with the Amazon sale. I tried to buy it, and the order failed; got the most painful runaround from their customer services. Yes, but get the original Legendary Edition with all DLCs from Amazon for only 18 bucks. It has way more mods, no paid mods, and the modded version will look better than the SE. The disk version includes a Steam key, and I bought that same item from Amazon not too long ago -- it arrived quickly and in good condition.

For those of you interested, Amazon sells a new copy of Legendary Edition for 20 USD (it registers on steam). It's currently out of stock, but it might be back in stock soon.

I believe Walmart and other retailers sell it for 20 USD as well, though it might be hard to find.

Those games aren't free, they're leased. If you stop paying you don't get to keep them. And I'm sure the price competitiveness of consoles goes to crap when you have to rationalize in having a vita, a ps4 and a ps3 ( Could build a Nice gaming rig for that price). this also only took 5 seconds to find, so don't try and tell me that games are cheaper to buy on consoles. Also, skyrim is a BAD game to advertise consoles over, it runs horrendously on the consoles with load times long enough for a short nap ( not my words, just observing complaints from actual console users ). That's one of those easy contrast examples of "standard game" -- "Mods" right before you launch into a full PCMR speech.

So I have the original Skyrim game on my Steam account, but not the DLC. Now I'm looking to get the DLC, but it's not on the store anymore, only with the Special Edition. There was another post I commented on earlier today about getting Oldrim. Don't bother getting it from Steam. I looked and it's like $55 or something pretty close to that. I don't have Dawnguard, but I have Dragonborn, and I think it is a GREAT DLC, with a sizeable amount of content(They add a new island and there are a fair amount of quests. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Quests_(Dragonborn)

It gets stale once the sidequests and main quest is done though, but it does add 4 new dragon priests, as well as 2 new materials to forge with.

Overall, I say wait for a sale on Dragonborn, but buy it once it does go on sale because it's a really good piece of DLC. If it doesn't go on sale soon, I don't think it would be a really bad waste of $20.

Here it is on amazon for $20, but it's out of stock right now. You might be able to get it at Target, which is where I got it last summer for $15, or maybe Walmart.

You don't need to spend 60 if you have your account info, Heavenward is a flag on your account that is not platform specific, so all you need is to buy ARR for the PC which is 20 bucks

If you're in the US then the Amazon sale for ARR is here. They also have a combo pack for sale as a boxed edition here for a combined $30 for both the game and the expansion, which is a pretty solid savings. Unfortunately at the time of my posting it's out of stock. You could buy it to lock in the price if you have some trial time left and are willing to spend the time to save the money.

You should be able to log into the mogstation here with your existing account on the trial and add the key from your purchase. That'll activate your current account and give you 30 days of game time. However it'll also cut off any trial time you have left.

You'd want this instead of the one you linked since it seems like that's for Heavensward only (and the bundle).

There's no benefit aside from unlocking a new race to play prior to hitting 50.

I had that problem too and bought it from Amazon.....but it looks like they took it down from there as well for now. Keep checking that link though. I was able to buy the digital copy from there when I was receiving that same message from their site.
