Before the last of us I was trying to get as many people possible to play this and continue to do so now that people have an appreciated for story lines.
Personally, generals with the zero hour expansion is by far my favorite. RA2 was cool at the time but I think Generals just has so much more fun to offer. A lot of Westwood fanboys will disagree with me. EA came in and just whooped ass with that game but unfortunately anything later than the Zero Hour expansion is complete crap. CnC 3 is ok but not nearly as good as it should have been, CnC 4 is just garbage, RA3 pretty much went full blown retarded with its comic book and slutty commando babes motif.

Disregarding that this isn't really true, steam is not the only digital sales store in the deep discount game.
For Example: Today there are sales on DmC (Released 2013) for $12.50 and Bioshock Infinite (Released 2013) for $9.99. You can also get Arkham Origins for $34.20 with a bunch of DLC (Not even Released yet).
You can't tell me you get those kinds of sales on a console (This isn't even bringing up holiday sales events).

There's also a box out there called "Command & Conquer: The First Decade", which is every C&C and Red Alert game up to C&C Generals in one box. That should be worth a few weeks of entertainment.
You obviously didn't play BF3 at launch otherwise you would have never typed that. BF3 was, just like BF4 at launch, a mess which was fixed over time. I mean FFS, just look at the Amazon reviews from when the game was launched.
As for BF4, it was populated after its launch because it was a good game and there were those willing to deal with the bugs. But for large parts of the population the game was not just riddled with minor bugs but bugs that made it impossible to get a satisfactory game in. I don't know if you were active on the forums back in 2013 but if you were you'd know what I am talking about.
As for my take on people who pre-order, all I'm saying is that you'd have to be a moron to spend $60 on a game from a developer that has a history of bug-infested releases. I said nothing about voting with your wallet, the game is being released regardless. If you want to spend $60 or more go ahead, it just makes you the definition of an uneducated consumer. If that is too "exhausting" for you then click the ignore button and move on.

I've played neither LoL or HoN, only DoTA. Real dota is going to be the best practice for dota 2 for a few reasons:

To unlock them you level up and during the levels 61-65 you can run the Dungeons Sabex Armory(Level 61), Marcellarius Catacombs(Level 64) for Khirian and Vanguard? Glyph boxes which has a chance to give you those locked glyphs and or get better versions of glyphs you already have.

In this game Tanking isn't like other games.
You generate threat by using your skills and Auto attacks. There is a technique called block cancelling.
Where you use your Standfast Skill(How you block) to cancel skill animations.
Like you can Auto attack and use standfast to cancel the rest of your basic attack animation after the damage has applied so you can then attack with your other skills to generate threat at a much quicker rate meaning you can hold aggro.

I am not sure as to what the meaning behind temporary banker is unless it is the NPC Scroll: Phargo. Which is a mobile Banker which last 5minutes and has a 10minute cooldown use.

It's definitely still a complete game and one you can have a lot fun with. It's sort of a case where you don't know what you're missing. Many people played hundreds of hours of vanilla prior to the release of Gods and Kings two years later.

most of the time yes. to give an example, look at titanfall 2's store page. There's a thing that says DRM: origin which means that the game will come with a code that you activate on origin and can essentially toss the discs. the discs will just save some time downloading and then be useless after that. whatever DRM form the amazon page shows will be where you activate the key (if at all). For some games they don't have a DRM listing and you'll have to look online to find out if it includes a code but as a general rule they list it.
Not outside of special promotions. For example, if you have Amazon Prime, you can preorder it for $32.

For PC: To start playing you need just A Realm Reborn, which will grant you all content from 1-50 including the 2 years of patch content before Heavensward released. The only thing you will be missing out on is creating an Au Ra character that you can start the game as from level 1.
Then you need Heavensward, which grants access to the 50-60 content, with the new land (6 zones), 3 new jobs and the 2 years of Heavensward patch content. It also lets you either make an Au Ra character, or change your character's race to an Au Ra.
There is also a bundle where you may buy both the base game and the expansion together, but there is no bundle with Collector's Edition goodies.
You will need both collector's editions if you want all the digital goodies, or you can buy upgrades to both editions in order to get them, whenever you choose to.
On Steam it looks exactly the same. The only downside is that you are bound to buy everything on Steam and the box edition codes will not work with Steam. This makes it hard if you wish to have the physical collector's editions as their codes will not work with the Steam version and you would need to buy the collector's box and the Steam upgrade for Stormblood, for example.
For PS4:
It's the same as on PC, except the digital PSN codes and the box editions codes can be mixed and matched without issues.

If you can get a hold of WC3 and TFT (only 20$ for the Warcraft Battlechest on Amazon atm) and play through all (9 in total I believe) the campaigns you'll have half the lore leading up to WoW nailed down. The rest would be reading the Warcraft books, which are mostly good and better, despite some not liking some of them, I think all the books are worth the purchase, or read.
The rest is completely up to you, jumping from one lore page to the next on Wowpedia (or Wowwiki) simply according to my curiosity is how I learned most of my lore.

BTW, you must enter the code backwards to get all of the items. I entered it forwards (from left to right) and only got some items and then did it backwards (from right to left) and got the rest.

It was very bad at launch and very expensive(My friend purchased my brother and I copies for $80 each). It's now $25 on Amazon. I was very against the MMO and hated it in the beta, but now it's a really good MMO. Graphics are pretty nice, very well optimized, fully voice acted questing(Same voice actors as Skyrim had), quests aren't WoW style (Kill 10 boars). Overall, I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Anywho, as far as individual titles.
Total War Series: I recommend Medieval 2 Total War. Some pretty cool mods for it (eg LOTR) and it always seemed like the most fun to me.
Civilization Series: Civ IV is a bit harder to get into, in my opinion, whereas Civ V is more streamlined + casual. I'm not too big into the Civ series like I used to be with the Total War series, so I'd say get whichever seems more appealing to you. If you're interested in Civ I'd highly recommend that pack, I just got it the other day!

I haven't personally played all of them, despite owning the collection, but I can confirm that the later ones are more sci-fi, involving giant robots and even aliens, but despite that, they are still fantastic games. Except for last one. We don't talk about that one.

It encompasses nearly all of the Command and Conquer games all in one bundle. Although that deal is restricted to the US, I did see it drop 50% (from its regular $19.99) to $9.99. A much better deal considering it's got all the games.

The Humble Bundles no longer give you keys. You can either redeem it to your account or make a "gift link" that you give to whoever you want to gift it to. Trading the "spare" games is against the rules of Humble Bundle and the couple places I know of that do trading, like /r/SteamGameSwap. I imagine it's still done, but it's probably pretty risky and their value (especially those in the bottom two tiers) are surely pretty low now.
Also, that Bioshock Infinite for Rust would be a terrible trade for the other person. Why would they trade you a $20 game for one that they could get along with a litany of other games for $20 through the Humble Bundle, buy for $13 on Amazon right now, or wait for a sale on Steam when it drops down to $5 or so.
I would just get the second tier. Spec Ops: The Line, The Darkness II, XCOM Declassified, and Mafia II is a good deal for $8.24. Gift the games you already own.

But if I were you, I would just go to Best Buy or use Amazon and purchase the Warcraft 3 Battle Chest - there should not be an issue installing from the disk. Plus, it usually comes with some cool art books and knickknacks.
If you'd prefer something more RTS, I'd recommend Warcraft III or Total Annihilation. For a ton of older strategy/sim games, I'd check GOG, they're pretty great, I think.

And start from the beginning. With the original c&c. One of the best games ever. Red Alert 1 is a close 2nd. Play the originals before progressing to the later games, which lost a lot of the fun for corny acting and half naked women.

For anyone not willing to wait, and/or who doesn't care about the new titles, The First Decade is a compliation of all the games up to Generals.
I believe RA3 is the newest, but they came out with an expansion pack that can be played stand-alone that also has some balancing changes called RA3 Uprising
This is the version I've been playing since I kind of assume that the expansion is "better" than the vanilla game in respect to balancing. RA3 Uprising is also on Steam
I know there are also a few official compilations of the early games such as The First Decade which I believe installs as the original games did in terms of the install process, however it does NOT include the newer games-CNC3 and RA3 that I mentioned. On the other hand The Ultimate Collection is a digital download that uses the Origin client which can understandably be a turn-off, especially since people have had issues playing the older games on newer operating systems, but is the most complete collection of Command & Conquer games to date.
Personally, if you can wait for another steam sale I would recommend doing so because you can probably get RA3 and CNC3 and their respective expansion packs (Uprising for RA3/Kanes Wrath for CNC3)

If you prefer to get only one game now and the others on sale, I would recommend them based on which play style you enjoy. Command & Conquer 3:Tiberium Wars controls similar to C&C:Generals in the sense that you place buildings from a unit that builds them, compared to the click and drop style of the Red Alert Games, however, in Red Alert 3, the 3 different Factions each have a unique style meaning that one faction "Empire of the rising Sun" for example, constructs buildings by means of a vehicle that unpacks into said building. The "Allied Nations" construct buildings by means of clicking the building, then selecting where to build, then having the timer go down as its built on-site. The final faction "The Soviet Union" constructs buildings by selecting a building, having the build timer complete, then selecting where to place the "finished" building
TL;DR If you enjoy the play style of Red Alert and Red Alert 2, get Red Alert 3. If you enjoy the play style of Generals, get CNC 3:Tiberium Wars.

I will cast my votes for TERA and Rift. Rift is 100% free and very well polished since it was a pay-to-play game originally. Their F2P model is one of the best around.

If you intend to play TERA, I recommend picking up a boxed copy of the game as that will unlock 8 character slots per server and many other perks (see the Founder column) for a one-time fee of (currently) $16.50. If you enter the CD key backwards, you also get a second free mount (entering the key normally gives the Terminus mount whereas entering it backwards gives the Tawny Huntress mount).
You can create an account and play TERA while you wait for your boxed copy to arrive, then apply the codes to your current account. You don't have to create the account with the boxed copy's CD key to get the perks.

Probably, they did this for the last two characters i believe. If you need slots i recommend spending $15 to get tera on amazon the code will give you founders edition and you will have 8 slots on every server plus a bunch of other stuff. you enter the code twice once just as its written and then backwards for the mount and stuff. Obviously you need to buy it new, dont know how many there are when you see this. You might also be able to get a code on kinguin or g2a.

Battlefield 3. That game to me is why I play video games. It's a cut above everyone else in terms of multiplayer experience when a team works together. The best gaming experiences I have ever had have been on battlefield 3 multiplayer. You become so wrapped up in the game that the desire to win becomes more than to just a desire to level up. It becomes an internal struggle to prove to yourself that you can in fact do it.
There is a level of camaraderie that is prevalent throughout the game that really makes it unique. Coordinating with other squad leaders and team-mates in vehicles is such an entertaining and amazing aspect of the game. There truly is nothing more horrifying than seeing an enemy tank roll up onto the objective you need to defend and start pounding away at your cover. But then you just mention to your team mates in the jets that there is a tank on bravo and then BOOM! 15 seconds later the two A-10's release air-to-ground missiles and the tank is scrap metal. It's a satisfaction that i have never been able to find in any other game.

Personally I'd just get it whichever way is cheapest in the long run. If there's a nice save on the bundle (like the Gold edition which has G&K) I'd get that and worry about BNW later. The Gold edition includes a bunch of previously released Civilizations, which really freshen up the game.
As complete beginner to the whole series, I had a blast with just the vanilla game at start. That being said, the two expansions really tweak an already good game into perfection. I wouldn't be able to switch back to vanilla after playing with them both.
EDIT: For example the base game is 20 dollars on amazon right now. You can wait for a sale on Steam for the Gold edition upgrade, which will be around 2-5 dollars, and get BNW when it's on sale etc.
Civ 5 is my new main game for the forseeable future. It's so deep and some of the stuff that goes on in there is so funny.
For my game, I'd like this. It's more strategy, but combined with FPS. It's a very cool combination.
Civ5 is a very excellent game.
I'd say that Civ 5 + Brave New World pushes it to the best of the series, however the base game alone is largely flawed in comparison to 4, but still good.

From what you describe, I'm guessing you bought the boxed version of Skyrim on Amazon UK (which is now £19.51!).

Honestly, I think it's unlikely to be free to play, and with the fact that you can pre-order the game for 60 usd, I think it'd going to be buy to play, like Guild Wars 2. Probably with some small micro-transaction things, again, like GW2. I imagine that a monthly subscription on consoles would turn many folks off, as with the many Elder Scrolls fans that they seem to be trying to heavily target.

It's not just the key issue. These companies believe that the games are only purchasable, and that anyone who plays the game is either a pirate or a legit owner. Because of this they do their best to make people by the game and the best way to do that is to offer deep discounts and incentives so that they will buy.
Look at Spec Ops: The Line. It has been off less then one week and it is already on sale for 50% off. We have also recently seen "pay what you want" on indie bundles and the like. Its a bundle, not one game, but 17, just at a great price. Also with my logic even the price is right, each of the original Uncharted games sell for 15-20, so the entire Nathan Drake bundle was released for an MSRP of $60. If you include more cost because of the PS4 remake and then reduce the cost for bundle pricing the price is right where it is, not $180. Also they released the bundle to get people caught up for a thief's end in order to bring up sales.
I would only call a game within another game something like the golden saucer in FF7, something that has minigames WITHIN the game, but this is more of a collection of separate games, not one game, not much different than the C&C Anthology I referenced.
I got tired of fighting these issues myself and this past Friday saw that C&C TUC was on sale for $5 at Amazon. I bought it and have spent this whole weekend playing Generals ZH without issue. It may still be on sale at Amazon and is totally worth $5 just for the hassle factor alone.

Plenty of reputable retailers online that are trustworthy and will give you a pre-order key prior to launch. Namely Amazonand Newegg. You buy the game, instantly get a key, and once you put it into origin, they will unlock the game on launch day. Before launch day it will appear as a grayed out icon that you won't be able to access until it's released, but it will be in your games library so you know it's legit.
That said, I really wish a major retailer did a last minute sale on BF4 prior to release. Battlefield 3 went on sale online for $45 a few days before launch and thats how I picked it up. This time though I can't find anything and will probably go with Amazon since they give you a $5 credit.

Start with Civ V with all expansions. I was a diehard RTS guy until a friend of mine got me drunk enough to experiment with civ. My life hasn't been the same since.
I haven't played Civ 4 but Civ V is awesome. I don't know why you wouldn't start with the most recent game, I mean it got rave reviews, GOTY awards, sold millions of copies, etc. etc.

If you look at the price history, the lowest price on steam for CivV complete was $16.49 (last summer sale). Currently it's $16.67 on amazon. It MIGHT go lower that that on the next sale because a new Civ game is out but you cant really tell for sure... and it would probably be around $10-$15. So, if you dont want to wait two months to see if you can save $1-$5, I'd just get it now.

You do not need to purchase Heavensward initially. You'll be capped at level 50 though.

Not your question, but if you're prime you can get the 20% preorder discount on the physical copies (these aren't collectors edition, but you'll likely be able to upgrade to the digital collectors separately like with ARR and HW). Let me start of by saying I do completely understand what you are asking for, at least I hope I do. From what you said, my understanding is that you would like to order the digital collector's edition of TERA from the En Masse web site, so that you get early access and the digital pre-order bonus items (Frostlion mount and two necklaces). Like me, you prefer to have an actual box on you shelf for games you have purchased, so you asked if we could send you a boxed copy of the standard edition when it is released. Also, you are not interested in the tangible items that are included with the Physical Collector's Edition.
I did see that your account had access to the 4th closed beta, but I went ahead and got you set up for this weekend's closed beta, as well as the upcoming open beta. I also believe I have a solution that will take care of your request. Since we only offer the digital versions of TERA on the En Masse Store (the Physical Collector's edition is sold out), your best bet is to pre-order the standard edition physical copy from one of our pre-order retail partners. Pre-ordering the game from here will get you early access to live servers (3 days before launch), and in-game bonus items (Level 10 City Wheel Earrings, Level 35 Seren's Sand Ring, and Armored Pinto in-game mount). You will also get the actual box and disk shipped to you when it is released on May 1st. Amazon will email you a code within a few days of the purchase, which you would then apply to your TERA account through our web page, It will change your account status from Trial to Standard.
Since you are also interested in the digital items that come with the collector's edition of TERA, we do offer an upgrade through the TERA online store, http://store.enmasse.com. We offer an upgrade to the Digital Collector's Edition for $9.99, and it grants all of the digital items that come with the collector's edition. When you order this, you will receive another code to apply to your account through the TERA web site. This will change your account status from Standard to Collector's.

Where are these options to reserve a game for $5? In every MMO I've ever seen/played, a pre-order was always a full game purchase, you just had the option to cancel it before release.
