Steelseries Mice are on sale on Amazon UK - some very good prices:

110 @ £19.99

310 @ £34.99

600 @ £49.99

u/Raiken200 · 20 pointsr/buildapc

Prices aren't very accurate for the UK, thanks for the list though:

Tt Black - £25

CM Xornet - £17

Gigabyte M6800 - £8

Coolermaster Storm Spawn - £27

Logitech G400 - £28

Corsair M60 - £48

Have linked to the cheapest reputable shop selling each of those for the UK, maybe someone else can finish the list.

One of the GW2 Devs said that he is using it THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU WON'T BE BANNED IF YOU CROSS THE LINE WITH MACROS, I just think that for a 35$ mouse it's pretty neat.

EDIT: It's on sale, check /u/yven313 post down below

u/novel__ · 13 pointsr/truetf2

SENSITIVITY
---------------------------------

Sens is personal preference, and that's just the end of it. Here you have clockwork playing with 20"+/360, and then yz50 with a much higher sens. And they are both in Invite, and have different playstyles.

In the end, NEITHER is objectively better than the other. You can even use 1cm/360 in COUNTER-STRIKE, if you wanted to. Here's the issue...

Higher sens has a steeper learning curve.

It's much different using only your fingers to make the smallest of movements, compared to sliding your whole arm across the mousepad.

As higher sens is... well... more sensitive... there's a much larger chance you can make errors.

BUT.

This can easily be overcome with practice. Though you might spend more time training to be able to headshot soldiers out of the air with a high sens compared to a low sens, it is the same in the end.

I want you to choose a sensitivity that's COMFORTABLE for you. Don't fall into the idea that "lower is objectively better" from CS. I can assure you, it's not.

MICE
-----------------------

If you haven't already, pick up a nice mouse. Forget "positive acceleration" or "negative acceleration." I know it's a controversial stance, but choose a mouse that is COMFORTABLE, and is accurate based on what you can tell. If you can't tell a G500 has accel, and think it's just as accurate as a Zowie FK, then you can get it! If you aren't comfortable, your performance will go down.

That means no stock mice.

Make sure it won't malfunction if you swing it too fast. I don't mean at 100 miles per hour, but judge it based on the FASTEST turn you would ever do. In order to test this, I'd temporarily use clockwork's sensitivity and try to do a 360. If the mouse malfunctions (tracks oddly or keeps going after you've stopped moving) it's no good.

Laser or optical. Doesn't matter to be completely honest, as long as you're comfortable.

Some pretty good ones:

  • CM STORM SPAWN Small little mouse, great for claw grip. Rubber grips, Omrons, perfect tracking, the usual. Notable users: Platinum

  • [Logitech G500s] (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Adjustable-Weight-Tuning/dp/B00CJD4HD2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394935251&sr=8-1&keywords=g500) A huge palm grip mouse. It's laser, but some people like Taggerung love it. Comfortable, and widely available. Notable users: Taggerung

  • Zowie FK Some say it has the best tracking of any mouse ever created. Sensei-style small-ish mouse, claw/fingertip grip. Mine comes in the mail the 20th. However, not widely available. Try a Sensei to get an idea of how this feels. Notable users of it's predecessor: cookye

  • Logitech G400s Typical, super-ergonomic overengineered palm-grip mouse from Logitech. Perfect sensor. Inspired by the fabled MX518. If you hear about issues with the cable, Logitech has excellent customer service and will help you out in a heartbeat. Notable users: enigma, ruwin, PYYOUR, TLR, b4nny

I'm going to say to keep away from Razer mice. Had a couple bad experiences with them. Like when my Deathadder from 3 months ago broke when I was just browsing Reddit... (Piece that contacted with the Omron Switch snapped... in half.)

    Choose what works for you.

    MOUSE SETTINGS
    ---------------------------

Mouse accel. Mouse accel. Unless you're dead set on it, like Swag from Complexity, turn it off. TF2 doesn't have linear acceleration, so the learning curve for it is ridiculous.

Turn it off in both TF2's settings AND Windows (Enhance Pointer Precision)

This will improve your consistently drastically.

Throw on Raw Input to bypass all of the strange calculations Windows puts on mice.

Keep Windows Sens to 6/11, so the computer won't have to "scale" your movements up or down.

    "BODYSHOTTING IS FOR LOSERS"
    -----------------------------------

Go ahead and sit on your scope. If you don't feel confident you can hit the target, aim for center mass, charge the scope up, and fire. Who cares, if that bodyshot gets you a pick on the enemy med?

This also leads up to playing passively. Some snipers DO play this way. Watching chokes. Not being inside them. I'm one of them. This will alleviate tons of stress, and it will really reduce the chance that you can get killed. How's a scout supposed to reach you if you're on Roof on Badwater, and he can't see you?

    MOST IMPORTANT THING
    ------------------------------

Chill out. Listen to some music. Remember games are meant to have fun, not stress over. If you're having a rough day on Sniper, switch it up! Scout's a good way to practice hitscan without actually playing Sniper. Taunt after every kill. Throw in a huntsman every once in a while.

Once you begin to become great at Sniper, it'll be second nature. And you'll genuinely enjoy the class too.

Oh, and getting accused of hacking. Get to that level, and it's the most hillarious thing in TF2.

    Oh.

    And...

Practice... A lot. Many good Snipers have hundreds of hours on that class. It will fall into place in time.

    And be confident.

    >"You miss every shot you don't take."

Hey broski. Back in the day, the Zowie bungee was the only decent option, but nowadays almost any mainstream-ish bungee should work.

That said, here are a few recommendations, considering you might like certain brands/aesthetics/colors more than others!

Not sure about best (I haven't owned enough to know) but I've been using this E-blue Cobra mouse for about a year and it's been great. There's a button that cycles through three sensitivity settings (can't remember the exact dpi of each off the top of my head though).

u/imbalanced · 7 pointsr/razer

I mean, Steelseries already has one but I'd prefer Razer so everything works together.

u/Dilemma90 · 6 pointsr/Overwatch

I use Roccat Kone Pure
and was really impressed by it

Apparently it's a laser mouse and I haven't owned one of them in years.

My Rival does the something in which I have issues noticing the clicking sound until i take my headphones off and it appears to be working fine.

Playing with no headphones offers a rewarding effect from hearing your mechanical keyboard and mouse.

The Zowie FK sounds right for you. It's a real great mouse and every one here will testify with that. Such a great mouse.

>Logitech G400 - £28

Anyway, here's what I could find on the rest of them (also sorted by price for your viewing pleasure):

Gigabyte M6800 - £8

CM Xornet - £17

Microsoft Sidewinder X3 - £22

Tt Black - £25

Coolermaster Storm Spawn - £27

Logitech G400 - £28

Steelseries Ikari - £30

Mionix Naos 3200 - £32

Logitech G500 - £33

Gigabyte M8000X - £36

Razer Deathadder - £37

Corsair M60 - £48

Logitech G600 - £52

Logitech g9x - £55

Roccat Kone - £57

Steelseries Sensei - £59

Logitech G700 - £62

Razer Naga - £66

I'm bound to have cocked this up somehow so if anyone has any corrections or better prices just let me know and I'll edit it in.

That's a Kone Pure, the original one as far as I know.

Soft touch finish, laser sensor and old drivers :)

Amazingly, it's still in stock in Germany: https://www.amazon.de/ROCCAT-Kone-Pure-Performance-schwarz/dp/B009DYOPJQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1517614232&sr=8-5&keywords=roccat+kone

I don't think your budget is that unreasonable, but there are always additional costs that people forget to tell you about. Your son has a laptop, so presumably he doesn't have a keyboard, mouse, and spare screen. If you bought a new computer, even a pre-built one, it's likely that you'd still have to buy all of those separately.

So:

u/IM_A_BOX_AMA · 4 pointsr/Planetside

Here is the gif file I made. The mouse is a Steelseries Rival 700. I like it.

u/IMainLucioOsu · 4 pointsr/osugame

I would say go for Logitech g102/203, g403 refurbished if you can, refurbished deathadder,if you like heavy mice try Minonix castor that seems popular, but if you want to try tablet go for xp pen g430 or Huion h420. The best mechanical keyboard for that budget would be corsair k65 with reds, red dragon Kuantan with knockoff blues
Other mice to check out i forgot to add: steel series rival 300, Logitech g302(/303? you can try the hyperx pulsefire

It should be possible with your budget to get stronger hardware. Like this build:

pc-kombo shared list

Type|Item|Price
:----|:----|:----
CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | $199.00 @ Amazon.com
Motherboard | Gigabyte X570 Gaming X | $169.99 @ Amazon.com

This gives you $108 to get keyboard, mouse and headset (and wifi card if you really need one), which should be enough if you go with cheaper options like https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-High-Definition-Optical-Tracking-GM-M6800/dp/B0083EZE4M and https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-KU-0833-Wired-Keyboard/dp/B005EOWBHC/ for mouse and keyboard. You get a stronger cpu and gpu, both will be nice for gaming, which I assume this will be used for. If that's not enough also just getting a 500GB SSD would work, or you could get the Dell Monitor.

If you do not buy right now upgrade the gpu to a Radeon RX 5700 (but a partner card with better cooler).

This is my rather plain jane mouse - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083EZE4M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Logitetch speakers, Sharkoon Skiller keyboard.

I've rather enjoyed my keyboard. Works perfectly for me, has a little bit of flair (Blue keys, blue lights), and media buttons for changing volume and such on the fly.

I didn't spend much on the set of peripherals since I put about 800-900 into my gaming pc this year, and hell I think I'm quite fine with them as is.

The next thing I change will be my speakers or mouse, most likely. Logitech, even their cheaper speakers, are pretty good- but I'd love some great sounding music. Maybe a 2.1 or 3.1 setup.

u/bdnicho · 3 pointsr/gaming

A good keyboard can help avoid key ghosting/blocking. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder x4 and I love it. It's not mechanical, which some people love, but it's also not as expensive. I got mine for around $45 a couple years ago, but it looks like supply might be dwindling as it's now up to $75.

As far as a mouse goes I haven't find a need for anything super fancy. Unless you're playing FPS's competitively most mice will do. I find having at least two thumb buttons essential, but not much other than that. I have this $10 mouse and, so far, it works as well as any mid range mouse I've tried before.

Edit: I split my time between MMOs, RTSs, FPSs, RPGs, and action games, so my hardware needs cover most gaming uses.

u/BlazeFaia · 3 pointsr/Attackontitangame

The closest thing I can think of is the Corsair M95 that has 9 side buttons (an A9800 sensor), an identical looking Corsair M90, and I'm pretty sure you know about the G600. The Corsair mice here don't look exactly like your Naga numpad though. If you don't mind a wireless heavy mouse the G602 is the closest thing I can think of that has a lot of buttons on the side that's within the list of "accepted" mouse sensors in case you actually care about that.

Disregard the above if you're not looking for mouse button's galore. It slipped my mind that you were looking for a vertical ergonomic mouse rather than an ergonomic mouse with a naga style numpad. If we're getting into that territory I suppose a drawing tablet would also work out but I wouldn't be so sure if that's a better path due to posture issues and repetitive motion risk possible from that (edit: and the lack of buttons as far as I'm aware of). Upon searching on my own though (and I bet you have already) the most mouse buttons I can find at all would be a bare bones vertical mouse that has a DPI switch. I can't find any information if that can be rebinded to another function though.

Regarding your wrist/arm issues though you probably should talk to a doctor. There are ways to see first of all if there is a problem and where it is (nerve conduction test aka EMG). Personally when I had a struggle with a different arm/wrist issue that wasn't carpal tunnel syndrome that actually affected my hand's ability to function by quite a bit, the most helpful thing by far for me was spending some time, effort, and money in actually fixing my computer station. In my case at least it all had to do with the chair and once I was able to find a chair that worked and what was wrong with the old set up my arm/wrist issues gradually disappeared and most importantly the numbness disappeared, strength returned to my fingers, the pain (which wasn't really the main issue) disappeared completely, and some flexibility returned to my hand. I'm not exactly "cured," but at least I can properly move my fingers again.

The problem with my computer set up was that arms of my chair were were too high, they were too far away from my body, and were too long so they got in the way of using the computer properly. In other the words the chair was way too large for me. If you have a chair that has arms, my best suggestion is that you evaluate your chair especially. Your problem probably isn't mine at all, but honestly out of everything I was told to do by doctors, changing my computer chair was quite literally 97% of what fixed my problems. If you care even just a little bit I can tell you what guidelines used to fix my computer setup and most importantly pick the correct chair.

Regardless you should still see a doctor if you're really suffering. I got pretty lucky that the only things I needed were independent of medicine or surgery but you might not be.

u/ZePlatyguy · 3 pointsr/CompetitiveMinecraft

I'm using this one

u/MaxGhost · 3 pointsr/CitiesSkylines

I recommend this one: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Performance-Gaming-CH-9000026-NA/dp/B00B5QLS2C

It has better placement of buttons in my opinion, letting you grip it more comfortably. The biggest downside to me is the mouse wheel. The Logitech mice generally have much better mouse wheels that can switch between clicky and smooth modes (G600 doesn't have this). There's a white and a black version, the black one is cheaper for some reason.

Edit: Another very good option (I'd personally go with this one).

This is very similar to the mouse I use myself, the Logitech Performance MX, but upgraded with added gaming features. Has a bunch of buttons, the mouse wheel I was speaking of, and it both wired and wireless (charges while wired).

I currently own both the Corsair M90 (older version of the M95, mostly cosmetic differences) and the Performance MX, and I'm almost drooling over the G700s.

I was pretty skeptical when I purchased one to try. I got this one :
http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Tt-eSPORTS-Galeru-EAC-MSB001/dp/B00BOVOED8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1453850201&sr=8-2&keywords=mouse+bungee

I tried all the other ghetto hacks prior to purchasing the mouse bungee like taping to the side edge of desk, taping cable to back of monitor, sandwich the cord between two monitors etc etc..

While those all functionally improved the mouse drag problem, it looked like shit. There is a reason for it being called ghetto mods bc it looks ghetto on your desk.

If you value the aesthetics of your desk setup then a mouse bungee is not a bad investment. I am extremely picky with keyboard / mouse peripherals and only use the best.

It looks good on my desk and serves a purpose. IMO, its not a waste of money if and only if your eyes cant deal with ghetto rigging something up.

u/Arthanos · 3 pointsr/gamingpc

The absolute highest end/best keyboard & mouse set up that I can think of is the Leopold FC660/C and the Zowie AM or Zowie FK

A set up like this, -- with (IMO) the best compact Topre keyboard and mouse -- however, is an acquired taste. It is completely no frills and pure craftsmanship, performance, and in my opinion the most aesthetically pleasing.

I highly recommend that you do not purchase the Logitech keyboard or the Rat9. I know several people who have gotten those products and absolutely despised them within a few months. Their build quality is shoddy, they are overpriced, are bloated with software/special drivers, and they are prone to malfunctioning or breaking.

>It maxes at 2000 dpi, but I've heard that more is better?

This is a common misconception. DPI (you may have also heard the term CPI: Counts Per Inch) only refers to the ratio between the amount of distance that your mouse moves in real life versus the distance it moves on your screen. In other words, how fast your cursor moves. It does not refer to how accurate or responsive your mouse is. That is all dependent on the sensor that your mouse uses. There are claims of "flawless sensors" but the more research you do into the topic the more you realize that there really is no such thing. The best sensor on the market is the Avago ADNS 3090, so look for mice using that. You can find some differing opinions/additional reading here

u/contrabardus · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Have a look at the RedDragonite M 901 Perdition. It's inexpensive and I'm completely satisfied with mine. Tons of buttons with good placement, the wave pattern on the num pad makes locating where your thumb is easy to do, up to 16400 DPI, and it has seven weights you can use to adjust the heft. Very well built and the scroll wheel is rubberized, large, and sturdy.

Good software too, profile switching, every button is programmable, and it does macros.

I used to have a Razer Naga Molten Edition mouse similar to this and I like this one a lot more. I really love this mouse for games. I've had it for about 4 years now and it hasn't given me any problems.

u/ImperialKody · 3 pointsr/wow

I have used this for about a year now. 12 side buttons and an extra mouse click button. The red button I macroed to '`' since nothing in WoW uses it otherwise. Or at least I never noticed anything to be that. Also it has on the fly mouse sensitivity adjustment with the two buttons under the scroll wheel. Which if you don't care about, can be changed to something else.

My only criticism is I've had to clean/grease the leftclick's button to prevent it from double clicking. And the side button for 7 seems to have started to need more pressure lately to press. Might need some cleaning somehow. But for 35$ plus shipping, it is an excellent WoW mouse in my opinon.

u/Devchar96 · 3 pointsr/AskGames

I have two gaming mice that I switch to and from occasionally.

Corsair M65 is my go-to, though it only has two programmable buttons. It's very good for shooters but also feels sturdy in the hand, and has weights on the bottom that you can adjust as needed. I also like using the low-DPI "sniper" button to be more accurate with my pointer, but this is something you can likely do on the other mice as well.

Logitech G602 is my backup mouse that I primarily use with my laptop. It has several programmable buttons on the side as well as a customizable DPI (like the M65) and it feels very nice in the hand.

Both of these are great mice but they still might not suit you. A friend of mine has a Corsair Scimitar RGB mouse with 12 programmable side-buttons and he swears by it. He also frequently plays MMOs, and I do not. So maybe that one would be better for you.

You may also want to check out this thread. It's a year old, but has some good suggestions too.

Yeah, your hand is definitely above the average size. The Deathadder is supposedly a large mouse for palm, but it seems like you don't want to make contact with the pad.

I'm going to suggest you give a look at mice with ring and pinky finger rests to help alleviate that issue - the DM2 Comfy S seems right up your alley. It's got a 3360 sensor (top of the line, considered flawless), and ChrisJ uses the older version of this mouse. The Cooler Master MM520 is also an option.

https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-SGM-2007-KLON1-MasterMouse-Lag-Free/dp/B0733W1M6P

As far as other ergonomic mice go, Zowie is pretty prevalent in the pro scene because their mice have very comfortable shapes, among the best. Try looking at the large sized mice they offer, such as the EC1-B (the divina line has better quality control), or the ZA11 if you want a symmetrical, ambidextrous mouse. Those two cater towards palm grippers with larger hands.

Finally, the Steelseries Rival 310 is another large ergonomic mouse that I personally like, but it's wide at the back and gets thin at the front, which I'm not sure would help your hand dragging issue. I'll drop a link to it anyways.

u/thatgermanperson · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

> What things should I look out for when buying a new mouse?

The amount of buttons and the layout. I got used to forward-backward buttons for my thumb and a button to free the mouse-wheel for fast and smooth scrolling. Personally, I prefer a big and heavy mouse as I have rather long hands. In general, Logitech has been producing good and sturdy mice.

I've used the Logitech M500 for a while and would consider it again, especially for that price. I'm currently using this G500 for ~£50.

u/Hamerzzz · 2 pointsr/buildapc

For a mouse, you might want to invest in a Deathadder or a Logitech G500. In terms of a keyboard, at 100 euros, you should go mechanical, you can look for a

The reviews on youtube are fairly competent but there are only a handful of them. What sold me was looking into what mice various professional gamers use. Im big into FPS games so I checked out Quake Live and CS pros used as well. I saw Razer Abyssus and Deathadders mixed in with G400s'. But the one that I saw the most was Zowie. Its the same for SC2 pros. I had never heard of them before but honestly, I do not know why. Easily the best mouse that I have ever used. Hey man, I dunno if you'd rather just continue to encourage him to keep using his left or not, I dunno how the palsy works or if it's something you can train out of a person, but I would be remiss if I did not recommend a gaming mouse with a thumb keypad.

My personal favorite is the Reddragon Perdition, been using this guy for two years now and it's still going while similar options, like the razor Naga Epic and the Corsair Scimitar died on me after a year.

I've often thought that if I were to lose all functionality in my left hand for some reason, I could totally keep playing league with one hand using one of these.

But again, I dunno if giving him more functions for his right hand would be more helpful to him or if just slowly forcing himself to use his left would be better. I ain't no science-y smart guy doctor man, but I gotta feel like someone so young can still normalize the condition to the point where they gain effective functioning.

Razer has bad build quality. They have this little ring on the bottom of the mouse that is GLUED to the bottom. This eventually starts leaking glue and sliding around.

I actually went with this corsair. The bottom is one solid piece and it has a metal bezel around the optics.

you can also move the buttons around on the side of the mouse then tighten them down in the ideal spot for your thumb. Been using it a while..its PERF

I think it really depends on what type of games you are playing, how much you want to spend, and what size keyboard you want. Do you need it to be programmable, macros? Do you care how it looks? do you want rgb, and lazers shooting out of it, or something plain? I would try something with a smaller form if you havent, something without a numpad, it adds so much more room to your desk top. You can get a good tenkeyless like this Corsair

I built a Cospad/XD24 with silver cherry mx switches just for playing games where I use a headset/never type. As for a mouse I have tried all the steel series, and I think the Rival 700 is pretty good, I also have a Logitech g600 that I used to use for some games.

Let us know what you choose, it's also fun to try different stuff. You can sometimes pick up stuff used for cheap, or just return something if you don't like it.

Good luck.

Nixeus Revel is a good cheap mouse, but both it and the G203/G102 are ambidextrous, and cheap ergonomic(Designed to be held with a specific hand) mice are hard to find. The Rival 310 is an ergonomic mouse that seems to currently be on a long-term sale, and the Plugable is about the cheapest ergonomic mouse with a top-end sensor I know of, though it's fairly heavy and I don't know how good it is. And trust me, regardless of your skill level and what you strictly need, having a high-end sensor will really help you(Though the 3360 is as everyone will say, overkill for anyone)

If it's gaming build, then it's bit skewed, CPU is massively overkill for rtx 2070.

RAM, imo just buy 3200mhz one, unless you want to pay double the price for 1 fps more.

GPU - you can fit rtx 2080 super in budget, if you don't needlessly overspend on CPU and RAM and few other parts.

PSU - 850w is more than enough.

Case - if you want best airflow, H500P mesh or H500M.

I saw that a few weeks ago.

However, it sells for £39.99 pretty much everywhere, whereas the G500 can be had for £35.81 on Amazon and the G9x is available for £49.99.

The G400 is still full price because it's new and, therefore, not worth it.

Hello, Goodbye~ is one of my favourite Beatles songs :)

According to Google, at current exchange rates, USD $100 is GBP £66.14. That is just less than the price of this Logitech G9x Mouse, but I include it here on the off chance that the exchange rate moves in my favour by June 1st. It isn't Prime eligible, but it does have free shipping (I think Amazon UK gives free shipping on any order over £25.)

Otherwise, I can't decide between the Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse or the Cyborg F.L.Y 5 Joystick. Again, neither is Prime eligible, but both qualify for free delivery. I used to have that joystick, but it broke, and I'd quite like another for Freespace 2 purposes. I myself use the g.skill km 780, and the keys on it are swapable. It uses cherry mx brown, and is an absolute delight to use. It's built like a tank, and has tons of features plus backlighting.

It was on sale recently for about 60 usd, but there are ofc cheaper options out there. I suggest cherry brown, unless you strictly play FPS and don't type much. In which case cherry red. Others swear by blue/black etc, but to each their own.

I suggest logitech for mice, as my old g500 was an absolute beast. Go for what features you need, along with the shape. Everything else is just a bonus. I avoid razer mice and keyboards, as they tend to be overpriced and prone to failure. Too gimmicky.

Gigabyte makes a great and CHEAP gaming mouse, only 15usd. That, with a solid mechanical keyboard would seem to be a good step, yes?

^ I need to buy this again, as it honestly has the best feel to any mouse I've ever owned. It's a bit light, and I ended up giving it up to my ex. I truly miss that thing.

u/_One_UP_ · 1 pointr/MouseReview

I had a TeckNet Raptor. The buttons felt cheap and miss-clicked a lot with my grip. Also didn't like the metal feel of the mouse. I also had a Gigabyte GM-M6800 (http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-High-Definition-Optical-Tracking-GM-M6800/dp/B0083EZE4M/). If you just want a normal mouse for everyday use it's good +its ergonomic. The only problem are the side rubbers that may fall off.
You also got the cougar 200m which i think it has much better build quality and you should also consider. (http://www.amazon.com/Cougar-MOC200B-Adjustable-Gaming-Switch/dp/B00ORGM63C)

If you want you can save 30$ and get a much better mouse but it's up to you. If you want to keep it cheap and have the 2 side buttons the cougar is a great choice. I wouldn't buy any of these you linked since there are better choices for the same price and from brands with better build quality.

The side buttons are binded for page forward/backward by default but you can change that with a program named x-mouse.

I'm using the 6800 right now, and was in a similar situation you were, with only using typical office mice previously.

So far, the only noticeable difference is the bigger grip and higher DPI (it's equipped with a sensitivity switch, but I rarely use it. The M4/5 buttons on the side are convenient, both in gaming and everyday use. Overall, it's barely a step above typical office mice, but I'm pretty satisfied with it so far. It was worth the $15.

I have a refurbished M90 (which, after much arguing about the shoddy condition of the refurb, they eventually replaced with a refurb M95 at no cost). Absolutely love Corsair mice - both the M90 and M95. Perfect size, weight, and materials. Soft grip surface has held up tremendously well, and the thing looks pristine after a quick wipedown with a microfiber rag every couple weeks. Not crazy about Corsair's support team, if you happen to draw the short straw on the refurb lottery.

Ordering this M45 for my dad for Christmas, as it pains me to see him try to use his wireless Logitech right next to the router and have the connection drop out every 5 seconds. Though he doesn't do any gaming, I'd at least like to up his browsing experience. Was going to go with this Gigabyte wired mouse for $14 on Amazon, but I'll take this any day over that. Plus, the surfaces should hold up better. Plastic grip mice have a tendency to get that old "shiny fingerprint area" mouse look, where the paint/coat rubs off - not too classy.

u/JonWood007 · 1 pointr/aspergers

This is something you can only learn through practice. I've played TONS of multiplayer shooters over the years and while I used to be terrible, im now merely adequate. KDR of 0.8-0.9 on average. So average player, slightly below average.

We're never gonna be GOOD at this stuff. We don't have the reflexes for it. And multiplayer shooters can be VERY competitive. Depending on the game, we'll always suck. I still suck at both extremely tactical shooters (tend to rush into stuff, no survival sense, also not good at that twitch shooting BS), and fast paced arena shooters (simply lack the coordination).

Middle of the road style shooters tend to be best, although those are the ones you mentioned. BF, COD, overwatch, those are good shooters to keep playing. They're not particularly hard. They're pretty forgiving overall.

Beyond that, one thing I'll suggest since you're on PC is to GET A GOOD MOUSE.

Most office mice arent great at gaming. They're 400 DPI, they're inaccurate as heck. They lack the sensitivity necessary for aiming properly. If you're using wireless, that's a double whammy due to input lag. DONT. If you have a decent amount of money, consider investing in a logitech G400/500 series mouse or equivalent mouse in your brand of choice. Those are the ones with the best sensors for FPS games. They're highly customizable and greatly improve gameplay.

If those are too expensive, since those run around $40-60, consider something like this.

https://www.amazon.com/blue-Junior-1600dpi-Gaming-EMS109L/dp/B0095P5K8I

I've used this brand before. On the pro side, it has a decent sensor. On the bad side its build quality is crap and it has a high chance of breaking within a few months. That said you get what you pay for and I recommend $40-60 mice for a reason. It's better to have an expensive mouse that lasts 2-3+ years than a cheap one that lasts 3 months. That's my philosophy at least.

Depends on what you need in a mouse.

If you're looking for a regular gaming mouse with decent DPI, you can go super cheap and get decent DPI compaired to a regular mouse, but not any super build quality. You can Go a small step up with a budget name brand mouse, which will have slightly better build quality. Then you can jump up to a Decent gaming mouse which has high DPI and good build quality, or this one as an alternative.

If you are an MMO gamer and want side buttons, there aren't many budget options, but the Razer Nagga MMOG 2014 Or the Logitech G600.

I have peronsally used all levels of gaming mice, and still use a super cheap wireless gaming mouse with my laptop, and I use an original Razer Naga MMOG on my desktop. I like them both, though I don't expect my cheap wireless one to last long, it still performs extremely well for the price.

Keep in mind these are just suggestions, Other people might like/disklike these mice for there own personal reasons. I peronally like the ergonomics of the Razer mice over any other.

  • Get a better card for the combined cost of them. You can add another card later to that one. It creates less heat, and it has less potential for stuttering or other issues.
  • Get a CX500 from newegg for a better but still inexpensive PSU.
  • Get this cheaper but still very good mouse to save money.
  • With the saved money, get him a better CPU that won't bottleneck any future GPU upgrades he might want later. I recommend the FX-6300 for that.
  • I've heard bad things about the case you picked making whining sounds of some type (I can't recall specifics). Either way, the NZXT Source 210 is a better option if it is cheaper or the same price for you. You can get a black or white version.
  • I would recommend Windows 8 because it has significantly better boot times for some users who have regular platter drives. If the start button thing annoys you, you can download something like Start8 to bring it back.
  • You'll save a decent amount of money if you can get an Ethernet cord to the computer instead of using a wireless card.

Roccat Lua is quite cheap and also very quiet. Like the quietest mouse i have ever used. Scroll wheel is almost inaudible.

But if you realy need to use the pc when you little guy is there sleeping, maybe trying to map the left mouse button to a key (scroll lock for example) on your keyboard. I've used this method successfuly for a long time, since most keyboard don't do any sounds when gently pressing keys. But good only for web browsing and light stuff.

u/uniden365 · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I am currently using a Roccat Lua and I love the thing.

For a lower price mouse, it is the best mouse I have ever used. Its sturdy, attractive, the plastic feels nice, has on the fly sensitivity changing via a 4th button, and the clicks feel good and solid. I bought mine on sale for $20, and I would do it again.

My personal favorite keyboard would have to be the Corsair K65/K70/K95. The only difference being 10 key-less/standard/extended with macros.

If those are a bit out of your price range, then the Corsair Strafe would be a slightly more affordable option.

As for mice, that is entirely up to you. My favorite is my Roccat Kone Pure. However, some people are more in favor of the Logitech G502

u/LePornAddict · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Basically it's the most recent successor of their Kone Pure series (e.g. core, military, primarily different in colour). It's improved in terms of sensor, coating and weight.

u/StarfishFTW · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Just know that laser sensors aren't as accurate and precise. Roccat Kone Pure is excellent, but it's not flawless like a top optical sensor. However, despite the praise from Zowie mice, they have some sensor input latency even though there is no acceleration, deceleration, or pixel-skipping issues. Roccat Kone Pure would be an upgrade either way IMO. Sensor, build quality, etc. is better than Zowie.

I'm actually helping my friend build his perfect setup. I'm using the G700s right now, and like it more than any mouse I've had before. Using the macro and custom keys helps a bit in games & websites, but helps a ton in AutoCAD & Photoshop. Reload, use equipment, crouch, and etc. without leaving WASD/Shift/Space. As for other programs I mapped some RES keys to browse faster, and mapped a bunch of shortcuts in AutoCAD & Photoshop.

  • Mouse: There are two kinds of mice: good mice and bad mice. As long as you are looking at good mice, it doesn't really matter from a technical standpoint which one you choose. The technical differences between good mice are so small it's purely a preference decision. I personally use a Zowie FK and like it a lot, as do many others.

  • Keyboard: A good keyboard actually doesn't give you all that much for gaming. If you do a lot of typing, I would choose a keyboard that's good for typing and then use it for gaming, rather than the other way around.

If you have a lot of money, a mechanical keyboard is what you want regardless of what you do with it. They last longer and feel nicer to use.

If you buy it exclusively for gaming, you probably want something like Cherry MX Red switches. They have the same actuation and release point, which means they are good for double-tapping and stuff like that. If you also use your keyboard for typing, you might want to consider Cherry MX Blue switches or other kinds of "clicky" switches because they give better tactile feedback when typing.

  • Microphone: I would personally recommend a mic that's separate from your headset, simply because you can get a massive increase in audio quality that way.

I'm a stickler for audio quality when it comes to voice communication, so I got a cheap USB condenser mic. Condenser technology because it makes for fantastic audio quality, and USB because the sound card in my computer sucks, so with a built-in sound card in the mic I can get better audio quality that way.

  • Headphones: This, like the keyboard, is actually something that doesn't matter as much as the other two, in my experience. Even cheaper headphones can usually produce audio of a high enough quality that you're able to locate enemies if you turn up your volume slightly.

If you have a lot of money, I would go for a proper pair of studio headphones that are also useful for listening to music. As with the keyboard, I wouldn't buy a pair of headphones exclusively for gaming. But to each their own.

I personally have a Logitech G400s, it's quite nice and the software seems less intrusive than the competing Deathadder's. It's pretty comfortable to me but I've never used the Deathadder so I can't say which is better.

I've also heard very good things about the Zowie FK. I've never used it myself, but it's a very basic mouse, honestly it looks like a cheap OEM thing, but it apparently has the most accurate sensor on the market. It's only 2300dpi, but that's actually plenty high for most people, and supposdely it's as close to perfectly accurate as any mouse has ever been made. It's also entirely driverless, just plug a play, nothing but raw input. Seems to be pretty popular among the competitive sorts. There's a few varients of it too, like the FK1, which is slightly larger and has a higher DPI sensor. If my G400s dies, the FK1 will probably be my next mouse.

If you are afraid of driver software or are too lazy to keep updating get yourself a ZOWIE FK1 or 2. I personally use a FK1 and it lets you cycle threw 4 dpi settings and 4 hz styles, all without any software.

The other is the Steelerseries Rival, i loved this mouse, one of the best sensors i have personally encountered, the only thing that bothers me is its oddly shaped once you have played with a more "standard" shaped mouse, as in if you are used to a normal size it can hurt your hand.

I am currently using a Rival, and have been using it for a little over a year, and I don't see it breaking anytime soon. Functionally, it's great, nothing to complain. I play CS, League, Overwatch, and other games with it, and works great.

HOWEVER, I'm going to have to tell you to stay away from this mouse because of a HUGE design flaw. If you look at the product pictures, you can see that sides of this mouse are made from rubber or some silicon material. I thought it was neat at first because I could get a tight grip on it, but over time, areas you touch with your thumb and other two fingers will start wearing off to the point where there will be little pieces of rubber tickling your fingers while slowly dropping rubber bits. If you go to the mouse Amazon page you can see other people's pictures and they all say the same thing.

I had a death adder before this mouse until it's wheel broke (seems like ALL of my friends go through this issue to the point where I think they intentionally make it weak so you can buy more razor mice), and when I switched to Rival, I loved it at first but because of the issues I mentioned above, I DO NOT recommend this mouse.

EDIT: Also, keypads can be great if you want to manage the camera separately with a hat button, but you have the problem that you start be almost completely unable to play any game if you don't have it with you.

I would recommend that instead you get used to ESDF for movement instead of WASD. It frees up an extra finger and puts your hand in range of 3 extra keys, as well as making shift more comfortable to hit with your pinky and alt easier to hit with your thumb.

EDIT 2: You could also consider grabbing a mechanical keyboard. Get one with the switches you like the feel of the most. Go to a store and try out all the different switch types and then find a deal when you can. It'll set you back $80-$140 bucks though.

I've had this Logitech G9x since 2010 and it's starting to show it's age. Recently rebent the springs under the left and right clicks to get rid of the double tapping, but now the back and forward buttons are starting to go and the wheel is less than accurate. Dealing with parts that small was a frustrating experience, but it's still serviceable so I'd like to put this mouse in storage "just in case". Or try to tune it up, then store it anyway. Regardless:

  • I'll play just about anything, occasionally MMOs but not enough to justify 20+ buttons. Skyrim, UT, Borderlands, etc.

  • Right handed

  • Budget of somewhere around $50-80 (USD) (Prefer Amazon, have Prime)

  • 22cm from base of palm to tip of middle finger

  • Preferred grip is more fingertip than palm grip.

  • Prefer heavier mice, been using my G9x with 4 x 7g weights for a few years now. (Doesn't need to be THIS heavy, a solid feel/construction is great too!) Definitely not a high DPI gamer, current setting is around 3000 IIRC.

  • Three things that are pretty key, I dual-boot Linux and Windows, only ever on Windows to play something that doesn't play nice with Linux. So if the mouse can keep settings separate from the software and it works in Linux, that's a huge plus. Second, it's gotta look good with my Corsair K70 (Blue LED). I really dig the blue on metal. That being said some of those robot codpieces are too much (Example)! I also insist on wired, I don't trust myself to care for a pet, let alone a computer mouse.

I'm not brand loyal, but I was very unimpressed by Logitech and Corsair's headsets. From what I've seen from searching around, the Logitech G502 looks really good, and /r/pcmasterrace, at least a year ago, seemed impressed by it. I almost impulse bought the Corsair M65 but I really don't like that big red button where I'd rest my thumb.

Anyway I'm rambling, I'm going to continue my search tomorrow but maybe you guys can give me somewhere to start. Hopefully this is enough info, thanks!

I have a corsair scimitar rgb currently, first mmo mouse after using a razer naga for years. Razer suffers the horrific double click disease as well now. The scimitar has its issues, mainly it needs to be programmed right in the software for the thumb buttons to work. but other then that I've had it for over a year and it still looks brand new and thats with pretty heavy use. I'm so usued to the 1-12 keys that its second nature and feel pretty much useless with a regular mouse now.

Hey so I was wondering if the Hyperglides GP Model were compatible with the G Pro Wireless? I have a bunch left over from when I hyperglided another mouse and I don't really wanna spend the extra money to get new ones.

Edit: And also I have another question now, how many of those things would I need? I currently only have 4 but it seems like there are a lot of places to put mouse feet on in this mouse

This is what I used. it helped a lot. Not sure if the G Pro still has a braided cable but I also debraided mine to make it less stiff (you use a small knife or scissor to just cut the nylon braiding off the rubber cable)

u/HashtonKutcher · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Now I suppose I'll have to get another one, but I peeled off my sticker and now I'm not sure what S/N I have. If you're really excited about your G Pros like I am check out [this guy's] (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWY-gjEgnmhJELYuqpncBXg) custom mouse cables which are so supple and flexible, and hyperglide's aftermarket mouse feet.

u/JRG269 · 1 pointr/MousepadReview

I have the nedis glass pad. Some tips and notes:

  1. Use it only for gaming, use a soft pad for non-gaming so as to not wear down your mouse feet. These Teflon hyperglides feet work good: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7FQLYQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 better than the other 2 or 3 type I tried, smooth and lasted longer.

  2. Needs to be wiped down (I use 409) most every time you use it for gaming. (I have cats and smoke so mileage may vary.)

  3. Mine is flawless, though I have heard of issues from others.

All that said, it's great to move the mouse mostly unimpeded, and really helps my game, you get accuracy + speed. Every time I try a hard or cloth pad it's no competition the glass pads are way better.

Just wanted to throw out some thoughts you could look through if you hadn't seen em already:

  • Mionix
  • Havit
  • Razer - I do have experience with this one and it's a very comfortable mouse, but the razer software ruins everything for me but there's a hiraliy knockoff
  • Coolermaster - this mouse had razer sharp edges between the side button that cut me, returned because I don't have time for that, but it's a PBT mouse
  • Swiftpoint - not in your budget but i like it, forced claw grip mouse
u/Ant333Man · 1 pointr/MouseReview

I agree with the other comments saying to either check the connection on the cable or replace it with a paracord, but if you want to replace it this seems to be CM's replacement for it. It seems quite a bit longer though, so it's definitely not perfect.

MM520 is also $34.49 or $26.99 w/ MIR.

That's almost the same price as my Xornet was, and it's only been like three or four months.

u/Liron12345 · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Ok, so that's a pretty interesting shape.

At first glance I must say it reminds me the mm520

While it doesn't share the same exact shape and dimensions, it still got that pinky/ring finger rest on the right side if you are into that stuff. +It's really cheap and well made. (Durable PBT Plastic, Best sensor on the market, Omron Switches) It does have a software but you don't have to use it, you can use the mouse just fine without using the software it'll just remain on it's factory settings like RGB colors (which can be turned off) and DPI stages. I'd still recommend checking the program tho, as the mouse got on board memory so you just change your settings once and they are being saved.

I assume the mm520 it's slightly bigger than the logitech marble but I see no issue adjusting to it.

u/UnfoldingTime · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Maybe the MM520 ? its quite a bit more than the one you bought before but it's probably the best value you'll get with the features you want. Most performance mice don't have pinky rests and the ones that do are usually expensive MMO mice.

Hello

I need to get a new mouse but I only have $30 USD but I don't know what to get these are the mice I have narrowed it down to M1, M2, M3, M4. The mice I have used in the past have been G502 (nice shape but too heavy) G203 (I liked the shape pretty well) Mionix Castor (My favorite mouse so far love the shape) MM531 (I hate this mouse it's too low and long) thanks for the help.

Games: Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus, DOS 2, Kenshi, CS:GO, Overwatch.

Hand Preference: Right-handed.

Hand Size: 17.78 x 8.89 cm

Grip: I hold my mouse exactly like this I have seen people call it palm/fingertip hybrid as well as relaxed claw so I don't know.

Weight: I don't really have a preference but nothing over 105 grams.

Sensitivity: Depends on what game I'm playing and what I'm doing but I usually use 1600.

Connectivity: Wired.

Thats not a hand size or a grip style (I literally gave you links to what they are), but on that tight of a budget you kind of just take what you can get anyways. I'll recommend a rival 110 or a G203

Work: MX518 mouse, K840 keyboard, G240 mouse pad, G513's palm rest (not sold separately, but man I wish), H800 headset (not pictured)

Home: G502 HERO mouse, G910 keyboard, G440 mouse pad, G533 headset, G560 speakers

u/BrewingHeavyWeather · 1 pointr/buildapc

Video card: an RX 5700 is quite powerful, more than enough for modern games at 1080P, and sufficient for 1440P. You also get to the experience cutting edge video drivers. Depending on what you'll actually play on it, it could be exceptional overkill.

RAM: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HzfmP6/gskill-memory-f43200c14d32gvr 3200CL14 is pretty much the best you can buy that wont severely break the bank for non-gaming use, is close enough to 3600MHz when bandwidth or IF are the limits, and sometimes even better when latency or core frequency are the limits. You can OC some good recent kits to 3600+ and low timings, but I haven't seen any for sale that aren't absurdly expensive.

SSD: since you aren't talking too much about price, get one that has been reliable (infant failure reports left and right are why I'm not so keen on the Rocket, FI), and has a DRAM cache. At current prices, I think the HP EX920 holds the best value proposition, ATM. Unless you give the SSD a heavy load, you won't get any additional performance gains from faster SSDs, once you're into ones that have good flash a DRAM mapping cache. But, I would get no smaller than 500GB (nominal), today, as the smaller drives have fewer controller channels filled, leading to lower random and sequential performance.

Mouse: the G403 and G502 are the current follow-ons to the MX518, with the G403 having the most similar shape. But, they removed prediction (where it snaps to line angles), and changed some other things for fast-paced gaming. There has thus consistently been a demand for the old mouse. As such, they have made a new version, which sports the sensor updates, onboard uC (you can likely set DPI and basic button mappings w/ software on Windows, and have it stick over on Linux), etc., but tweaked for MX518 behavior, and with nearly the same body shape. My G403 is still going strong, so I haven't given into temptation and actually bought one for myself...yet (I owned 4 different MX51x mice in the past).

PSU: 500W will be fine. Even with the 5700, you're looking at 350W full load, maybe.

u/Waztar · 1 pointr/classicwow

Leveling is pretty easy and straightfoward.. Specs all work leveling just about besides healing..

There are 2 categories of players.
Causuals
Hardcore (competent)

Casuals players have ruined most of what "wow" was but you can still get a great amount from the game.

Here are some things you should do if you choose to get in said "Wow"

    1. Learn your class. This generally comes through leveling on learning the basics. But take time go to Elitiesjerks.com and look up your rotation practice it ( for raiders) there is no excuse for not knowing it when this information is at your finger tips ( and you dont want to pay for a game you refuse to learn).. to many people do that already.
      *
    1. Pvp is a different story, you not only need to know your class. You also need to know your burst windows and cc ( crowd control which means loss of control of character) rotations. These take along time i mean a long time to get it set to reaction and not having to think about what to do while something is happening to you. If you get to the point where you just simply REACT to everything that is happening to you in a arena match.. you are off to a very good start.

    1. Collectibles, pet battles, achievement hunting is mostly done by casuals not saying you can't be hardcore and do it but if that is what you 95% of the time you play don't expect to be taken seriously or to get in any group that is decent at raiding or Pvp.

    1. Professions are almost worthless because of garrison that has been added to Wow. I personally don't have any leveled and still make plenty of gold so if you don't want to you don't have to waste your time.

    1. DO NOT CLICK. DO NOT KEYBOARD TURN. it will do nothing but hurt you and form very bad habits. The second you log on Wow switch A and D to Strafe for you key bindings. you want to about 90% of the time hold down your right mouse button to turn right and left.

    1. Keybindings. I personally use http://www.amazon.com/Redragon-Perdition-Precision-Programmable-programmable/dp/B00LSERFA0 So my binds are easier but i use these buttons for every class i play i currently have 7 100s.

  • 1-12
  • Shift+ 1-12
  • Alt+2
  • Q,R,E,Z,X,C,V
  • Shift+ Q,R,E,Z,X,C,V
  • Mousewheel up
  • Mousewheel Down

That can all seem very daunting i am sure if you have not played MMO's before. But if you just do 1 at a time while leveling
say you just bind "Q" to your first main move you use that over and over pretty soon its memorized and you go to the next button.

Last.. DONT STAND IN THE FIRE.... JUST DON'T

My experience? 10 years of playing 2400+ rating in arena ( which is pretty good not godly but not easy)

I do hope you choose to play wow i have loved and hated it for the past 10 years but i am still playing. But please
take the time to learn the game you pay for that is all i ask.
