When they were wet, they were a real pain. It took everything me and two other guys had just sliding them off the pick up truck onto the stickers on shop floor. It didn't make it but just enough inside the door. Dimensioning is a two man job for sure. But now that the wood is dry its much more manageable. The biggest help are the strategically placed tables in my shop. One guy gets it started through the plainer then Ill get it on the other end while the guy walks around to pick up the other side, then we move it to the table to the side of the plainer. Ill adjust the plainer then, then we will pick the hole thing up and repeat.

A tool that fundamentally changed how I work is a hydraulic scissor lift table. It makes it easy for one person to move large slabs and equipment. The one I got is linked here: https://www.amazon.com/Pake-Handling-Tools-Hydraulic-Scissor/dp/B0757K2CD9/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1525622417&sr=8-4&keywords=pake+handling+scissor+table I'd get a larger one if i had to do it again, this sometimes requires 4x4 blocks to lift larger things.

This top is almost 4 in. Working these big pieces isn't the most fun I've had in the workshop. I don't think I would choose to undertake this job again as i'm equipped. Though its obviously doable if a customer want to fork over the dollars.
