I have a Chalmers Doane Triangle Ukulele. I quite enjoy the deeper sound it produces. The way the strings are fret underneath the wood ensures the strings stay in tune a bit longer. If you live in Canada, I would recommend this one.
Also, I really like "The blue book" and "The orange book" as a beginners guide to the ukulele.

Goodluck on your hunt, and all the best to you in your ukulele future :)

Five of my Basic Likes:
A Halloween Sheet Music Book is something I would love to get from Amazon.
Why would I like to win? Well, aside from winning in general just being awesome, I think that a little prize package is a cool prize. It looks like you put some time and effort into making something someone will enjoy according to their interests, which I think is neat!

I am totally fine with giving you my address should I win.
Thank you for the contest!
Most of what there is will be the very expensive facsimile editions you want to avoid, but this is a small hardcover ("gebundene Ausgabe") edition of Bach's sonatas and partitas for solo violin that's relatively cheap. Here it is on AbeBooks.
On Amazon, for example.
Or Doblinger, if you're not a fan of Amazon.
It's not the easiest book to find, nor the cheapest, but it's good material, despite being written in German. Here's the list of titles in the book:
There is typically a short boogie woogie exercise before each piece that practices the technique associated with the following piece (e.g. triplets against dotted eighths and sixteenths).
Also check out the scribd links I posted.
