Here's the link to it guide, it looks pretty neat.

I've been there. I invested in a sprouting machine. Kind of spendy but it works really well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B073PY4TR4?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_t2

A cloning disk is what you are looking for.

2 Inch Neoprene Inserts, Premium Soft Cloning Collars Pack of 30 for Clone Machines and 2 inch Net Pots in Hydroponic Systems (30 Pack with 6 Free 360 Spray Mister Jets) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R4TB4TD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yozUDbK05TD9T

I personally wouldn’t do it cause I’m a fan of slightly more hardy plants, but some version of a cloning disk will give you the medialess growing you want.

The other option is if you are doing dwc to do a raft. Check out what upnorthaquaponics did, as that doesn’t involve media

> just trying to be cost effective

It's literally 11 cents per cube. How much is your time worth?

Plus any mold, algae, spores, etc. from the previous grow would carry over to the next.

Try using gibberellic acid (GA3) instead. It's much safer to work with.

Always buy GA3 in powder form and then dilute it down.

https://www.amazon.com/Gibberellic-Acid-Gram-Kit-90/product-reviews/B003CVNOKW

You will need to play around to find the proper dilution and application rates. It will likely also cause your buds to hyper elongate.

3 AeroGardens so I can grow veggies indoors.

AeroGarden Harvest (Classic) with Gourmet Herb Seed Pod Kit, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IK7PLZI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_b-KZCbP0QV479 I got it for Christmas 2 years ago. I love it for herbs. I got these “micro tom” tomato seeds for it and it turned out great

Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001PKQTFO/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

Available for about the same price.

How ever mine came with lava-rock and some nutrients I never touched.

You can use gibberellic acid instead of cold stratifying. Sandpaper a crack into the shell. Soak in the acid solution. Plant like normal.

Many thanks everyone for the replies! It sounds like even for the smallest strawberry varieties that less than 20cm headspace would be too little..

punkpepper, thoughts on better design alternatives? I was hoping to put this inside, preferably it'd be nice to look at in addition to working well. I ran into this in Amazon, would seem great at first look but obviously not something I'd be able to build from scratch. I've also looked at different kinds of NFT setups, but wasn't really sure if I'd be able to build that so that I'd for example be able to make sure that roots aren't plugging the pipes constantly, that there's light for all plants etc.

Any thoughts would be welcomed and appreciated again.

Looks like you have almost everything. Might as well get yourself a 20lb tank and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8WF9LY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_r4ZrDb345NKNM

And you will see a 15% increase in yield.

I'm using this kit from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Atwater-HydroPod-Recirculating-Hydroponic-Included/dp/B07LG6P54J/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=dwc+kit&qid=1574544396&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-8

Kit looks pretty nice and comes with everything you need to get started, but you'll probably need to buy a ph meter if you're starting from scratch though.

u/Cake_And_Pi · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I haven’t started yet, but the seeds are in the mail. I’m planning on going with this bucket in this tent with this light .

This is what I rock, my fluid pump on it calved though after a few runs, so I just use two DiY Dewey misters in it now.

You can diy one cheaper, the hardest part is the inserts and making them easy to clean, remove and maintain.

I got mine locally for $80 canadian, so im not sure why the one in the link is so expensive.

Found a cheaper 5 site, pail set up, no clue on whether the pumps will last long.

You should be able to order from US amazon even if you're UK. Here's what I use. You might need to get creative to work around localization but my fiance orders from jp.amazon.com and uses an intermediary to ship it to the US.

Most of the newer aerogarden plastic cages can be reused if you're careful and transplant early enough. I reuse mine all the time. Or you can cut it free from all the roots when you restart a garden.

The smallest one of these guys: https://www.amazon.com/AeroGarden-Farm-Plus-Black-Height/dp/B073W7TNH6

Then I removed one of the hydroponic trays and replaced it with a piece of glass (as you can see in the picture)

u/spicyblues · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I use the GH Waterfarm. One thing I really like is how they recirculate with just an aquarium air pump, no water pumps to deal with, and I've never had any leaks yet. They're far from the perfect dwc setup, but they do work.

Mine is the Bounty Elite Wifi and the LED top telescopes up plenty high enough for determinate tomatoes. My last tomato plant produced dozens and dozens. I’ve grown kale, Swiss chard, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts, even small cucumbers.

u/pm_me_ur_dank_buds · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I've had great success with aeroponics cloning - went from 75% success in rockwool/humidity domes to 99.99% success with aeroponics.

I use this one.

Well done! Love that seed spacing template. Definitely giving Amazon my money for one.
