Yep, that's where I get everything but my food. Here's the light I upgraded to, made a HUGE difference, has the same output of a ~600w HPS. I immediately noticed new growth.

The old light:

Both lights run cool and the plant loves the light spectrum.
I also saw this one that says it's an 8 band. Same price as the Blackstar which I believe is 6 band. I'm wondering if the other two would benefit flower at all? It says you can go from veg to flower with the same light but I'm thinking then it wouldn't be as good for flower. I'm skeptical of most things like this though, I've heard of Blackstar and seen people use them, never seen this one.
Instead of white LEDs, you'll want an array of reddish and blueish LEDs to generate light at two wavelengths that match the chlorophyll absorbance peaks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorophyll#Spectrophotometry
I've been happy with this light for starting seedlings http://www.amazon.com/GlowPanel-Growing-Panel-Plant-Rivals-Spectrum/dp/B001N4K2QE/
Some red LED bloom booster lights would be perfect. Expensive option though
like this https://www.amazon.com/G8LED-Watt-Flowering-BOOST-Light/dp/B005ZTJ980 or this https://www.kindledgrowlights.com/products/kind-led-flower-bar-light?variant=21718821895
This is a commercial grow? You are only buying one light for a 3x3- 4x4 area? Then go LED Mars II 900W. Otherwise this is what I believe most use.

I'm planning on doing this in a spare bathroom with no window - it's not an incredibly large and I don't have anywhere to vent heat(except into the house, which I think is probably not a good idea.) I assume that would leave LED or florescent tubes? What do you think? I was looking at this model : http://www.amazon.com/Light-Lighthouse-Hydro-BlackStar-Watts/dp/B0051HODOG/ref=pd_sbs_lg_6
Is that good/powerful enough to really get leafy greens growing? What would be a comparable florescent solution?
I have had great experiences with iPower products. If you don't want to skimp on quality and you want the best get Gravitas or SolisTek DE/SE digital dimmable remote control ballasts. (Find some used bulb fixtures and new bulbs like digilux, ushio, or hortilux for the SolisTeks and you'll be rockin')
Thank you for all that info. We only intend to spend about $1500 on this so... heh.
Would these be worth buying?

(I suspect we will end up on a list...)
EDIT: What about green led light? I can see that it's probably very ineffective, but it would be a nice experiment. But I can not find any type of green led light anywhere.
Hey what do you think about this ballast for the Magnum Hood?
OR should I just go with this combo?
Well euphotica has some 16" dimmable box LEDs which are very cheap for like $95 on Amazon. They also have the 16" programmable LEDs but they cost$250 on Amazon. With the dimmable ones could I create the sunrise and sunset using timers? Here's the link to them. 16" Programmable LED Aquarium Light Fixture - EUPHOTICA 16" Full Color Spectrum Saltwater Coral Fish Tank Grow Light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ECHISKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fyI2xb7S3J9G7
I would definitely explore an LED light as well. There are a number of Apollo LEDs on Amazon of high quality and their prices have dropped dramatically in the past few years. The biggest upside to LEDs are the low heat, good power consumption to watt ratio, and extremely long life (30,000-50,000 hours+!). The only real downside is a slightly higher up front cost than an HPS light, but you won't have to change any bulbs. This Apollo LED looks like a great option.

Is this not an amazon listing for said lights? Please tell me you didn’t pay $1100 a piece for these things? You can build a light that’s twice as efficient for half the price. I could build 2 600 actual watt LED grow lights for under $1000, that would blow away this premade 543w(yes that’s the actual wattage of your light) LED light out of the water.
