GameStop - Skyrim bundle $349.99! - Out of Stock online

Walmart - Skyrim Bundle $349.00 - Out of Stock online

Newegg - Skyrim Bundle $349.99 + $6.99 shipping Out of Stock

Best Buy - Skyrim Bundle $349.99 Out of Stock online

Target - Skyrim Bundle $349.99 - Out of Stock online

Amazon - Skyrim Bundle $349.00 - Out of Stock!

I'll add other links to this post as I see them!

Update: It's almost 2am eastern and I'm heading to bed. I'll update with more links in the morning!

Update: It's morning and Amazon and Target have joined into the fun! It looks like few online sellers have run out of stock yet, so you can be picky about your retailer. Amazon and Walmart are 0.99 cheaper, if that makes a difference to you.

Update: 2:30pm eastern, looks like places are starting to sell out online. Time to get in your order if you've been on the fence

Update: 11/20 1:30pm - GameStop is now sold out online, so only Walmart is showing stock. Make sure you check your local stores if you are chasing one since stores aren't necessarily showing the stock level of stores.

Update: 11/25 9am - Walmart has finally sold out online as well. They were the last holdout for online sales. Your local stores might still have them though. Also might be worth checking Craigslist and the like for people who bought extras or tried it and didn't like it (Yeah I know, but there's a guy near me selling it after "trying for 30 minutes and getting nauseous").

At the current prices, it's an absolute no brainer and worth it. I'd suggest getting a bundle through amazon though so if you dont like it, just return it hassel free. Just make sure you play astro bot before you make a decision. The game is a damned near magical experience.

Edit:
Here is the astro bot bundle from Amazon. The Creed/Super Hot bundle is currently sold out.

Looks like the bundles are selling out, so if you are thinking of it, this deal is about gone. Good luck!

Get the S.

The built in audio isn't great, but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. It's OK / acceptable. And if you can use something like these if you want better audio.

The original Rift isn't even sold anymore, so you'd have to get it used with no warranty (and they'll probably eventually stop selling replacement parts/accessories too).

u/TalkingRaccoon · 8 pointsr/oculus

I got a Rift S a few months ago and these additions were a must imo:

  1. Hand straps to make them like knuckles controllers. You don't have to be constantly gripping your controller which is nice for long play periods. I have wrist problems so any help is good. but just being able to "let go" of stuff is excellent for immersion. I got the Mamut ones, and really like them. There's these Kiwi too which are cheaper.

  2. I primarily play beat saber so vr cover is a must so the foam doesn't get super gross. Also I got a workout headband or else sweat will get all in your eyes

  3. And since i value sound for Beatsaber, the built in speakers just don't cut it (missing bass) so I got these clip on headphones originally made for PSVR. They will clip on just fine to the Rift S halo. They sound fine. Maybe $40 was a bit much. If you're a tinkerer look up the Koss headphones mod. They're like $12 it looks like. And there's 3d printed things to clip the Koss to the halo strap.

Amazon Prime. They had some killer deals.

I saved money not getting the game bundle (ill get skyrim used later) and bought superhot vr and got rush of blood when it was free. Ill be happy with those for a dash.

You want some kind of bundle like this... and then you want the PS4/PS4 Pro separate. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GQPWJQN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MTeNBbCERQ6W7

I mean there's Farpoint, Moss, Astro Bot, Resident Evil VII, WipEout: Omega Collection, The Inpatient, Firewall: Zero Hour.

Not to mention Dreams, Deracine, Ace Combat 7, Blood & Truth, Golem, Beat Saber, and more incoming.

I'd say it's worth it now, especially with the Moss and Astro Bot bundle being $299 (VR headset, both games, and PS Camera) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H47J7T5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_67aTBbTFA3MYJ

Heh, yeah VR is something else, isn't it \^^

First off, check out the new user guide, especially the section on VR sickness. Note that there's a bunch of stuff in there about the predecessor to Rift S, this guy, so if something makes no sense for your hardware, it's about that & you can just ignore it.

Rift S is fully compatible with SteamVR games, so you should look there as well (although the Oculus store has most of the high-quality games), but you should run those using OpenComposite, a very lightweight piece of software that replaces the SteamVR runtime, so you can run Steam's VR games directly against the Oculus runtime. Benefits of this.

The Oculus-funded & published exclusive games are some of the best around, here's an article on those, and another with upcoming games (one of the games there, Defector, is already available)

Lone Echo is my #1, full stop. It's the most immersive VR experience I've had, and the best implementation & expression of the VR medium to date. It can be a bit intense though, you do a lot of floating around which can trigger the oculu-vestibular conflict detailed in the VR sickness part of the New User Guide, which causes motion sickness. Sensitivity to this varies though, and roller coasters are quite intense, so you may be alright with that locomotion. I've seen people say that they're fine with the zero G-locomotion, because you mostly throw yourself around, so there's a direct "physical action > movement" correlation in your head.

Lone Echo has a multiplayer side-game as well though, Echo Arena, which is free, so you can try this and see if you can handle the locomotion. Echo Arena is also an incredible game, but it's very populated with highly skilled people, so you kinda need to git gud to enjoy it & not get your ass stomped. It also has a DLC that introduces an alternate game mode, Echo Combat, which is like a player-versus-player team-shooter in zero G. It's $10, and well worth it.

Pokerstars VR is free and can be a blast if you join a table with fun people.

Raccoon Lagoon is a new game that's absolutely delightful. Has plenty of comfort options to avoid VR sickness-inducing motion.

The Talos Principle VR is an excellent port of the popular puzzle game, available on Steam. It's $40 though, so you might want to try to snipe it on a sale. I got my copy super cheap a while back. It's the full game, so a good chunk of content.

I've read a lot of really good stuff about Blade & Sorcery, which is essentially a sandbox combat simulator with advanced physics & mechanics. As far as I understand it, the entire game is just whacking down waves of enemies, with the fun coming from the complex gameplay mechanics available. Another well-received game in the "whack the shit out of a bunch of enemies"-category is Gorn. This is more of a fleshed-out game.

Robo Recall is a classic as well.

Then there's Skyrim VR. Probably my 2nd favorite VR game after Lone Echo. It's the full game, with all DLCs, with almost all mods made for Skyrim Special Edition being compatible. There's a small but thriving community of VR modders as well, see /r/skyrimvr. Fallout 4 also got a VR port, but I know less about this other than it having pretty steep performance requirements & not being quite as good of a port as Skyrim.

Rec Room is a gem as well, a pretty big game at this point with a ton of stuff to do, and entirely free.

Superhot is a must-have. The "time moves when you do"-mechanic works really well in VR, and dodging bullets like you're Neo from The Matrix is kickass.

Arizona Sunshine is a really cool zombie shooter.

Minecraft Win10 edition is also available if that's your jam. You have to buy the Win10 edition from the Windows Store, then use that Oculus app to launch it in VR.

Windlands and Windlands 2 are really cool games, too. I haven't played the sequel yet, but it looks really good.

No Man's Sky is also receiving a huge update on Wednesday, which includes full VR support. It's currently on sale at Steam. If No Man's Sky makes you wrinkle your nose, give this a watch - both the game & the devs have come a long way since the launch fiasco.

Google search for an r/oculus-search for game recommendations, the same for r/virtualreality, r/oculus search that includes all past entries of the weekly "what have you been playing?"-thread

Also, you should try something: take the facial interface off your Rift S (7:49), then put the headset on and push the eye relief as far in as it goes without actually touching your eyeballs. Do you notice an improvement in field of view compared to having the face padding on? To make room for glasses, Oculus made the facial interface wider & deeper than the original version 1's interface, but they went a bit overboard. Some people find the default face interface puts their eyes too far from the lenses, even with the relief pushed all the way in, reducing FOV & optical clarity. If this is the case for you, bookmark this page and/or enter your e-mail into the notice sign-up there. VRCover sell replacement facial interfaces for all mainstream VR headsets, and they should launch replacements that are thinner than Rift S's default, which may improve the experience significantly for some people.

I've also heard these headphones work well with Rift S. They were built for Playstation VR, but they should fit Rift S as well.

I've read good things about these, although they're.. quite overpriced IMO.

This seems to be the best value gun stock around, which would be a worthwhile investment if you plan to play a lot of shooters (like Onward, Pavlov, Contractors).

That's.. all I can think of at the moment. Welcome to VR & enjoy! Oh right, did the focal length of the headset lenses work with your eyes, or did you have to use your glasses?

u/eaudaemon · 5 pointsr/PSVR

I'm using the BIONIK Mantis headphones just because its more convenient than going through the process of, Putting on the HMD, groping and looking where my headphones are while I'm already blind, grope around the floor to pick up the controller because I was groping around too much for the headphones that it fell, then start playing.

Now I only put on the HMD and just grope for the controller on the floor , coz I was stupid and keep putting the thing on my lap while I put on the HMD.

u/itsmy1stsmokebreak · 5 pointsr/gaming

First IDK what you're talking about when you say VR is starting to flop. VR as a mainstream gaming platform is essentially in its infancy right now, which is even more apparent with those who don't know what actual VR is like compared to cardboard or other peripherals. PSVR at last announcement had sold over 2 million headsets. While that's still fairly insignificant as less than 4% of the PS4 market as a whole the sales for PSVR headsets still continue to grow as people are able to try them and realize the potential for VR games.

There are already multiple piloting games for PSVR alone not including any PCVR titles that might not be on the PS store such as RIGS (PSVR launch title), Ultrawings, EVE: Valkyrie, Driveclub VR, Dirt Rally, and Code 51 which just released a few days ago. There are already many piloting games and they will continue to be made, they work quite well for some in VR while some do experience motion sickness which hurts their ability to play certain games.

VR can cover a very wide range of games that you might not even be thinking about outside of 'piloting' games like sports games that you are actually moving for. Yes, this means you can't just sit down and play it but they feeling of 'being there' is upped quite a bit when you're sweating while playing a video game.

If anything for PSVR ATM the marketplace is *under*saturated with FPS games, at least with games that can provide team based multiplayer. Team based MP titles are essentially pop star games for the pancake gaming market, the more FPS team MP titles released for VR the better since this is what most enjoy as a daily game on a flat screen.

Movement can vary from game to game depending on controllers and settings and while we may not have foot tracking for a full body avatar this has not hampered my enjoyment of VR in any way. In Skyrim I have two floating hands (or move controllers when weapons are sheathed) and the movement settings I use are set up so that I use one of the moves as though it were a virtual joystick to determine my direction and speed which works quite well. Separately the aim controller for PSVR allows for the same joystick movements you have with any regular FPS along with being able to move your weapon in real time as well as your head. While DS4 controllers may be the most basic and the least immersive it is still plenty viable as a method for playing VR games as well as games that are specifically designed for use with the DS4 like Statik.

E: Felt the need for this edit as I scrolled through the rest of the comments.

**Price**

Yes for some if not many VR can be very expensive to jump in to relative to what they can afford. At the same time the PSVR Skyrim bundle with moves, HMD, camera, and Skyrim VR is selling on Amazon for $349 which is every peripheral short of the aim controller which is specifically for FPS games

https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-VR-Skyrim-Bundle-4/dp/B076PW5K56/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_img_0?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=R26F7TGW1J3W4YCA6BMJ&th=1

It's a stiff price but considering how many posts there have been of people buying GoW special edition PS4 Pros for $400 it really isn't that bad.

Sure, there are people who just don't enjoy VR, but for those that do and are willing to spend the initial cost to enter it's a great way to play. I bought Horizon Zero Dawn and I still haven't gotten around to finishing it. If I picked up Far Cry 5 today I know I wouldn't play it for at least another month or two.

Cheapest: Fondant Smoother, which I will buy next time I have plans to do fancy cake decorating, I just haven't had occasion to make a fondant decorated cake in a while.

Most Expensive: Playstation VR, which I am currently saving up for, hopefully will have the funds compiled before launch.

PSVR is not on the top sellers because its sold out until launch.

Its not DOA

u/DorkPrune · 4 pointsr/Vive

It's probably far from the best, but I just got one of these basic "Universal VR Headset Stand".
US links: Here and here (I don't know why there are a bunch of different brands, it seems to be an identical product)

Nowhere for the controllers to go so it's nothing special (I've seen some people set up a nifty station with built in controller charging slots and whatnot), but it feels better than just dumping the Vive on my desk.

u/gooeyguts21 · 4 pointsr/PSVR

I have the mantis which are on ear. Because of on ear, they aren't noise canceling. I prefer to have noise canceling so I can get 100% immersed in the game, but there are definitely advantages to on ear. The main advantages for me is I can flip it up and hear my SO if she needs something. They are beneficial in that sense since you're not completely divided from the real world.

This doesn't benefit me because I love horror games, but those who are easily scared will enjoy the mantis because you can still out things outside of the game making it less scary knowing you can hear your family around you.

Easy setup and they are very comfortable. They still produce a solid volume.

I'm holding out for something akin to the Biotik Mantis headphones that came out for the PSVR ( https://www.amazon.com/Bionik-BNK-9007-Mantis-Headphone-Playstation/dp/B0735X5M4X/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Bionik&qid=1556745548&s=gateway&sr=8-4). Rift's original headphone design will create a hell of a demand for it.

Until then, probably just some basic headphones I have sitting around.

u/TheresShitInMyBucket · 4 pointsr/oculus

I dislike those integrated headphones and don't get why everyone considers this a downside! This time we'll have them as an accessory. Now when they break, you won't have to replace your entire damn headset to fix them. Plus we'll be able to use aftermarket snap-on accessories like these or others if we so choose. I really like having those options personally

I agree with you on the IPD slider. Half-dome FOV is a no-go though. You increase the FOV much and you reduce the perceived resolution. Higher FOV only really works if you bump the resolution up a ton and most of us don't have GPUs that can work with that.

You ask for eye-tracking though and you're asking for an $800 HMD. The tech isn't quite there yet for affordable headsets.

>Variable depth of field

This is what I want most. It'll enhance depth perception and make far-away objects feel far away.

u/pingywon · 4 pointsr/PSVR

I got an OG PS4. I bought VR bundle this week.

The bundle is The head set. 2 move controllers. The new version of the PS4 Camera and it all came with Skyrim.

Usual price is $450. It is on sale (at least in the US until 3/3/18 for $100 off) I got it all for $350 (plus sales tax in my state)

Since I got it home I have bought:

Super hot VR (awesome awesome game)
Rush of Blood (lots of jump scares - super scary)
Arizona Sunshine (only played Horde mode so far)
Statik ( puzzle game. Already stuck on the second puzzle)
Keep talking and no one explodes (now I just need some friends) ;)

looking to grab VR Worlds, I expect you to Die while they are still on sale. I would also grab Moss and Sprint Vector when the time is right.

PS I also have RE7 and beat it long before I had VR, so I hope to play that again in VR.

Finally. I just got a stand for it all. The PS one looks great but based on my set up it was too tall. So I got this one off of amazon. It just arrived at work today and I havent taken it home yet to set it all up and try it out..
here

Sorry. No pics otherwise :(

I don't see it on what's included on their Amazon page. I could be wrong.

u/LukeNeverShaves · 3 pointsr/PS4

Except MS is behind and HAS to announce Scorpio now or lose even more ground in the race. Sony doesnt have to announce anything until they are ready to launch. You think those specs MS announced wont change when they start trying to price where consumers will actually want to buy it.

>Now, Sony has a weird PSVR Core version that won't work until the player goes out and buys the processor box, or waits for a Neo.

The processor box is included in all the bundles of the PSVR. There is nothing else that a PSVR user will have to buy that is extra.

u/ZambonieDrivor · 3 pointsr/PS4

PowerA Charging Station - 2 controllers, not little kid friendly, as it has a spring to load/unload the controller and kids will just pull it off. If the spring is in the incorrect position, it can be difficult to put the controller on charge.

Collective Minds PSVR Stand and Charging Station - 2 controllers, 2 move controllers, and 1 USB slot for headset or PSVR AIM controller.

PlayStation Platinum Headset - Went through 2 PS Gold headsets due to weak plastic frame. Platinums feel more sturdy. Haven't used too much to test durability. Great sound, but I am not an audiophobe.

PSVR AIM Controller - Got it bundled with Firewatch. Read that it felt good in hands. I thought it felt a little awkward, but definitely easy enough to use. Just have to get used to the button layout.

AC Infinity Fans - These are 80mm fans. It comes with 2 fans in parallel that are powered over USB. I don't use my PS4's USBs, because those are taken up with other accessories, so I have it attached to my surround sound receiver. One fan pulling air from the back of the Pro, and the other directing the fan out of the shelf area. I recommend these, as I've noticed the spin up on my Pro has significantly went down.

Im pretty sure they will be doing a few different audio solutions for the S and Quest, gotta get that shelve space up in retail haha. But if they don't or you want to look at something now theres these guys.

u/JohnRobertMatz · 3 pointsr/OculusQuest

I'm a bit of an audiophile (my job requires it, after all) and I'm really liking the Bionik Mantis headphones. They're designed to clip onto the halo of the PSVR headset, and they just barely fit onto the Quest without modification (just make sure you put them on the correct sides or you'll have a devil of a time taking them off again). They work stupendously well, and they keep all of the convenience of function of just slipping the headset on and off, without having to deal with extra elements, since they effectively integrate into the headstrap, like the OC Rift or Vive Deluxe Audiostrap.
After reading a very detailed breakdown from a friend involved with the design of the audio systems for Valve's Index headset, I'm rather liking the philosophy of on-ear headphones, or near-head speakers as opposed to total isolation or earbuds.
Anyway, long story short, the Mantis does a really great job. Highly recommended.

Depends. If I were you, I'd allot another $450 for PSVR. I personally think it would be foolish to buy anything other than the Skyrim VR Bundle, which is $350. This gets you Skyrim, which is amazing in VR. It also gets you the move controllers, which will allow you to play other awesome games like Job Simulator and Rush of Blood. With $450, you'll have an extra $100 to spend on a few games. Trust me, you'll want more.

I'm a huge gamer. It's my passion. But over the years, even with so many amazing games, it feels like there's not as much 'revolutionary' progression in the industry. PSVR changes that. I feel like a kid again when I come home to play games.

u/solidus__snake · 3 pointsr/PS4

Thanks! As of 3am EST it's available on Amazon as well.

I'm not sure I would trust Game.

They had in-store ads for CV1 pre-orders a few months ago (and took a deposit from least one member of r/oculus), but then a rep came on here to say it was a mistake. The deposit was refunded - but sadly they don't seem to have a clue.

Isn't the PSVR available to pre-order on Amazon UK?

If you already have Rift or Vive, then it's understandable not wanting to buy the PSVR. But, your reasons only apply to someone who does. For those that do not own a VR headset, I think the PSVR is hands down the way to go if you don't already have an optimal PC

Considering we're on the PS4 sub, people in here probably already have the console. Granted, the Pro pumps out a better experience, but having played VR on both, the difference isn't all that much...for now. So, you're already halfway there. Now, it's about shelling out another $387 for the headset, another $86.35 for two Move controllers(optional), and $41.99 for the camera if you don't already have one. Of course, they now have the Launch Bundle available again for $499.99...

Anyways, there are benefits to the Rift and Vive. Their controllers are far superior. The vastness of both Steam and VR content on the internet is quick and easy (there is a workaround with the PSVR and software designed by the community to be used with PC, but it can be a bit of a chore to troubleshoot at times), and the tracking is better. The PSVR does also have its pro's, like comfort, less 'screen-door' effect...there are a plethora of articles breaking down all 3 systems' pros and cons.......but having RE7 VR exclusivity for a year, as well as Farpoint and the cool new AIM controller (it's absolutely amazing, UPS dropped mine off @ the door Monday evening), might tip the scales for a lot of potential buyers towards the PSVR and I'd agree with their purchase.

Either way, I'm just excited I'll be able to watch the Champions League Final on my PSVR!

Unless you want to pay over the odds, you'll have to wait for new stock. Problem is Sony don't track stock and refer you to the Retailer. Who refer you back to Sony...

I think they're worth it - makes the Rift S "almost as good" as OG Rift, audio wise. They touch my ears more than the CV1 headphones did, which annoyed me at first but doesn't bother me any more. I think the sound quality on the Rift was maybe a bit better, too, but it's hard to say as it had been boxed up for a month before I started using these. For sure night and day compared with the Rift S' built-in audio, though.

They cost less than half of that in the U.S. so a better value if you happen to be on that side of the border.

Bionik Mantis for PSVR maybe ? https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0735X5M4X

If you could find it for sale of course (they are available in a local store where I live, you may have some luck too)

u/MichaelTenery · 2 pointsr/oculus

The user p3rfect3nemy hooked me up by telling me that the PSVR clip on headphones are the same ones you can use for the Rift S. I ordered a pair, he was right. Here is the link. https://www.amazon.com/Bionik-BNK-9007-Mantis-Headphone-Playstation/dp/B0735X5M4X/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=mantis+headphones&qid=1568474476&s=gateway&sprefix=mantis+head&sr=8-2

When you get your unit make sure you know how to adjust the eye relief (it's in the manual). Apparently some people never realized they could get better FOV and clarity until a lot later. For software, OpenVR Advanced Settings and Oculus Tray Tool are handy things to have. VrCover is almost done developing their Rift S cover (i've been waiting so long for it), so keep your eyes peeled for that or sign up to get an email about it when they're done. Also you should get OpenComposite for those times when you want to run a SteamVR game that isn't working or has bad performance.

There's a big chance you won't like the built-in audio. If you do end up liking it, awesome, but if you don't, it's easy to upgrade it. If you don't want to spend much, you can't go wrong with Koss KSC75 headphones ($15). Plug em into the side of the headset and you're good to go, but you can take out the built in speakers and have them hang down using this mod or this mod (personally I did the latter). If you're willing to spend more, the PSVR Mantis headphones ($41.91) seems nice and easy to install and use.

u/Detective_Hacc · 2 pointsr/WindowsMR

I have the Dell headset, so I'm not extreamly familiar with the Lenovo, but I'll still give you some input.

Glasses: Perfectly fine. No issues as long as you don't tighten the headset around your head to the point that your glasses rub against the lenses of the headset. (Though, doing that also cuts off a bit of circulation so don't do that period.)

Headphones: I have the Razor Man O' War wireless headset. It's... less than ideal. The headphones are wireless, which is the true plus, but they're big enough that they push the headset around if they aren't sitting just right. This causes you to need to adjust the headset/headphones often.

A good option is to buy these: https://www.amazon.com/Bionik-Mantis-Headphone-PlayStation-VR/dp/B0735X5M4X

They fit/work on most WMR headsets.

u/Strongpillow · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

These actually work well. I have them for my PSVR and used them on my Quest for abit. https://www.amazon.ca/Bionik-Mantis-Headphone-Playstation-VR/dp/B0735X5M4X

I just went with a pair of KOSS Porta Pros though. They are feather-light, sound amazing and can fold up into a leather pouch that you can put int the official oculus hard case.

u/guruguys · 2 pointsr/oculus

Biggest downgrade for me personally - but I am sure third parties already have options available like these.

u/Maeno-san · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

I would recommend trying the Quest without headphones before dropping a lot of money on headphones specifically for VR. Integrated audio (having one device to don/doff instead of two) is really important for convenience and accessibility.

There are also headphones that clip onto the headset strap like the PSVR mantis. I'm sure someone (Oculus or 3rd party) will release integrated headphones like those, or we'll find out that the PSVR mantis headphones are compatible with Quest too.

Annoying yes, but seems like that'll be pretty easy to fix with an accessory if it really bothers you: https://www.amazon.com/Bionik-BNK-9007-Mantis-Headphone-Playstation/dp/B0735X5M4X/

The bigger concern for me is tracking occlusion, as I play a lot of Echo Arena (which should be pretty much the worst-case scenario for inside-out tracking). If it turns out that tracking is "good enough" even for Echo Arena or if Oculus adds an option for outside-in then I'll be seriously considering the Rift S.

Skywin Charging Stand

This is what I bought. It pulls power from the PS4, so it doesn’t actually have its own plug in, but I have not had any issues out of it so far and I’ve had it over a year now. Charges the wands with no issues, and it’s a place to hang my VR and another pair of headphones I have. I would say it’s worth the money. (Also, I hope the link works, this is my first time posting a link, so I apologize if it doesn’t work.)

I've been using this Fosmon travel case, and it's come with me on several cross-continental US trips. It's not that large and has a surprisingly robust capacity - the headset, breakout box, camera, power supply, and cables all fit nicely with room to spare (I'm going to try packing my 2 Moves and Lens Pen tonight). It also comes with velcro dividers to prevent stuff from scuffing up the lenses.

What I usually do is pack it inside my checked luggage, since I don't have space in my carry-ons. Generally you don't want to put fragile, expensive electronics in checked bags, but I find that the case prevents things from getting thrown around and so far, everything's been fine. Just pad it with some clothes or towels.

u/WorkingFineYesterday · 2 pointsr/beatsaber

I'd say it depends on how you play rhythm games. If you're a perfectionist, always trying to get higher rankings and scores and pushing up to higher difficulties, you won't mind the limited track list because you'll be playing each song dozens of times anyway (and Expert+ is REALLY hard). If you like playing rhythm games for song variety and the core experience alone, PCVR is definitely a better way to go until Beat Games adds more content (which they seem to be doing). The only genuine improvement PSVR has regarding "Beat Saber" specifically is just that the shape of the Move controller feels more like a saber than the Vive or Oculus controllers do.

That said, PSVR also has "SUPERHOT VR", "Skyrim VR", "Tetris Effect", "Moss", "Rez Infinite" and a bunch of other games that are quite a lot of fun (some of which are exclusive to PSVR), and the setup is much simpler and largely more affordable than most other PCVR setups (just one camera, no messing around with drivers or complicated settings, no worrying about specs, etc.), so it's not like PSVR needs a customizable version of "Beat Saber" to be worth the price. I'm largely happy with it. But the display is lower-resolution than most of the competition, there are some PC-exclusive games you might miss, and you sacrifice the ability to mod games.

If you've got the space and budget for a VR-ready PC and a Vive (which you could probably manage for about $1000-1500), that seems like the optimal way to play VR presently. But if money is tight and you already have a PS4, you can get a good PSVR bundle with everything you need for like $350.

You can get the headset on it’s own (comes with the processor unit) PlayStation VR https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DE9DY8S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_s1UTBb1FKQEW0

I will say that I bought this just last week and it was 30 bucks cheaper (~$185), so not sure if they are being phased out or if you want to risk waiting for the price to go down.

Then you just need to buy Move controllers separately.

> PSVR is like 160 or so last I checked. If you already own a ps4 that’s not bad.

Someone should tell Amazon and Best Buy that, for sure.

> Elite Dangerous, Arizona Sunshine, SuperHot, BoxVR, VRchat, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Audiosheild - all working solid. The only games I think considered high end that I haven’t tried yet is Fallout and Skyrim (mostly because I don’t want to pay $40-60 for games that usually go for like $13 just because they added VR support).

Some of these games - like Arizona Sunshine - have minimum requirements that specify processors that were released only four years ago. I sincerely doubt your 10-year-old processor made no more recently than 2008 would be sufficient.

But, if you insist.

Yeah, and again, it might just be a datapoint.

I got an email that said they wanted me to call about authorizing $$$ for them to fix it. I called expecting a modest request. I was kind of taken-aback by their request for $99 (1/2 the cost of a new-in-box headset + processor and assorted cables) but initially relented. After hanging up and stewing in my own rage for a bit, I called back a minute later and asked them to just mail it back. When I was on the phone with CS-rep #2 I specifically asked "but you guys fixed a friend of mine's cable a few months ago" and the reply was basically "no, we have never fixed broken cables because dogs keep chewing on them." I replied that I do have a dog, but that he's never chewed on any cables ever (true fact).

I'm pretty frustrated with the whole thing. I'm also a stubborn SOB, so I told them to mail it back to me and I'll fix it myself.

I honestly have no idea how the cable could have been broken. The break is towards the plug (i.e. processor-unit) end, so its not like it could have gotten caught in a vacuum cleaner or furniture.

My personal favorite is Firewall: Zero Hour (which is on sale at Gamestop) with the Aim Controller. It is a 4v4 tactical first-person shooter. Think Rainbow Six: Siege. I had one of my favorite VR moments in that game with the Aim Controller. I was pinned down behind an obstruction in a hotel corridor. Enemies behind me, my teammates in front of me trying to put down covering fire for me to move. Both my teammates go down on one end of the hallway, I'm in the middle, and two enemies are coming from the opposite end of the hallway to clean up me and my downed teammates. I felt like I was screwed because as soon as I would pop my head out, they'd kill me. Then it dawned on me: I have my Aim Controller so I can just literally blind fire by sticking my gun above the thing I'm hiding behind without ever being in danger since they would be able to shoot me. So I put my gun in the air while still be crouched behind this stuff and I took out both enemies and revived my teammates. It was a pretty cool moment!

Wipeout

Rec Room (also free on PSN)

Farpoint

Starblood Arena

Battlezone

Arizona Sunshine

The bummer part is, you're going to pay at least 80 bucks for the controller (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B06XG9J26Q/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all)...and to get the bundle, with Farpoint, it's only another 7 bucks (https://www.amazon.com/PSVR-Aim-Controller-Farpoint-Bundle-PlayStation/dp/B06XGPF3CW/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1521818901&sr=1-3&keywords=psvr+aim+controller+farpoint+bundle&dpID=31PSaZLi%252B3L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch). The upside is, Farpoint still sells for 50 bucks, so I'd expect you could easily sell it on Craigslist or something for 30 or 40 bucks and get some of your cash back for the bundle.
Anyways, go get it NOW...trust me on this...you'll be glad you did. It's insanely cool and just a freaking blast.

I agree with this, I do miss my CV1 audio, not sure how the decided this audio was OK, did they listen to any music at all on it? But the was it sits on my face is great, I did have issues when moving around a lot, like in Beat Saber when you have to dunk under stuff, etc... But if you crank the knob down some it seems fine and at least all that pressure is not on my face. The screen is great, I knew it would be because I loved my Go's screen and knew it would be so much better on the Rift-S with better render targets. I have no real tracking issues, it is better so far than my CV1 with 3 sensors honestly.

I have seen people with some headphones kind of like these, but were bigger and maybe better.

  1. You can look behind yourself more often than not. That's been the source of most of my "Woah" moments. It really helps sell the sense that you're in the game's world. Some games will give you some text behind you telling you to turn around and face the camera.

  2. I was a bit concerned about it just looking like a tiny screen up close, but I didn't realize there were lenses inside the headset. Everything tends to feel proper as far as proportions go. At worst, it's like looking at a movie theatre screen, but usually you're able to forget there's even a screen in front of your eyes.

  3. I really don't use the ear buds often. I find the sound from the TV to be more than enough, though I did see these and they seem to review well (Amazon Canada)

Also, there are a lot of pieces to keep charged if you're picking up all the controllers and everything, and you might be concerned about the lenses getting scuffed over time, so I'd recommend picking up a stand whenever it's convenient.

Are these the ones you're talking about? They look pretty cool and hook on to the PSVR headset. I might have to check them out.

Yeah it’d definitely be an imperfect fit but it’d work. According to the one person I talk to on Discord, the Rift S has an amazing microphone.

The solution I use for headphones is this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0735X5M4X

Oculus licensed the “headband” from Sony, so these headphones fit on the Rift S.

u/Moe_Capp · 1 pointr/oculus

I don't like earbuds that much in VR because they have a tendency, for me at least, to fall out or get yanked out during more physical gaming. Usually right at the worst times. Possibly due to the kinds of head movement or cables rubbing. And putting on earbuds after putting on an HMD you have to make sure the right/left buds are in the correct ear.

Integrated or clip-on headphones are way more manageable, as you can just grab the HMD and slap it on like a hat, the correct earphone is always on the correct ear, and there is nothing to fall out or get tugged on if the cables are wrapped out of the way. For Rift S I would use Bionik Mantis clip-on phones as these are known to fit on the S. These are decent quality though not super high end.

Not saying ear buds are bad, they can work fine, but I don't believe them to be optimal for standing/active VR gaming.

I use these with my Dell. Had to modify them a bit to get good fitment, but they work well! No mic though so I bought a passthrough lapel mic I have yet to try out.

While we are in the trenches these next few weeks, wanted to just touch on one of the concern-points many of us have with the Rift S -
Lacking the convenient and immersive headphones of the rift cv1

Stumbled on these that attach to a similar "Halo strap" for the psvr so maybe they'd work on the rift. And price is goo
too.

https://www.amazon.com/Bionik-BNK-9007-Mantis-Headphone-Playstation/dp/B0735X5M4X?th=1&psc=1

I'm not sure they'd sound as good as CV1 headphones but if they we're better than the built in strap speakers on the Rift S...

Really hoping for a first party option for Oculus sub-$50. I don't really want to feel in-ear earbuds or have awkward placement of on-ear cans stretched over the halo strap .

I actually found this one and after setting it up partially, as my Skyrim PSVR arrives this Wednesday, I think it’s organized and handy.

It charges 2 DS4 controllers, 2 Move controllers and it has a stand for any PS4 with 2 built in fans!

I saw it before Black Friday at $35 on amazon, but price went up to $46. Definitely worth checking out as an alternative for the Creative Minds one.

Here it is.

I ordered mine and it's arriving today! :D

u/MorrowindVoiceActing · 1 pointr/skyrimvr

I've played VR in my appartment before, and it worked fine. I only played Elite back then, which is a seated game anyway.

If you don't have VR yet, and you wanna get it for Skyrim specifically, I would recommend you get a PSVR+Skyrim bundle. You'll pay 350$ for it, if you have a PS4.

If you don't have a PS4, but a PC that could run Skyrim VR, getting a Vive is definitely getting cheaper lately, so that's great.

In ether case, moving in VR while sitting/standing IRL can be sickening for some people, so I'd suggest you go and try it out. If you can't find anything to try it at, at least try a Google Cardboard (for like 10$ off amazon), to see how susceptible you are.

u/KALT1803 · 1 pointr/PSVR

> I have wondered if VR games will give me any problems

I've never played Final Fantasy XV, but under certain circumstances I also can get migraine and just feel awful.

Maybe it has something to do with the rather low/unstable frame rate of the game.

So this should be no problem with PSVR, because all games must run least at 60 fps and then get processed to 120 fps or run natively at 90 or also at 120 fps.

Motionsickness itself will only get bad if you don't stop playing immediately. It took me like three months until I could play any kind of game for a nearly unlimited time.

Your mind and body may have to adjust itself to this new situations. It's like people getting sick in a car, ship or plane, but at least in vr you can just stop... it may just take time to earn your vr legs, but it's nothing to fear! :)

At first I mostly played Battlezone (great game!) 'cause it just worked for me. Other people will have different experiences, so just try out what works for you, thats's why I recommended those vr Demo Discs and VR Worlds.

Looked up this two deals for you in case you didn't do this already yourself:

https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-VR-Skyrim-Bundle-4/dp/B077BWQ91D/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1525971597&sr=1-3&keywords=PSVR&th=1

Both bundles seem great.

Doom looks great and it's mostly Doom as you maybe know it, but it's in most peoples opinion only good with a simple DS4-Controller.

Skyrim on the other hand looks not always as good, but for such an "old" game that is buggy as ever it's just wonderful... you will experience what VR has to offer, especially when you are able to use those fun locomotion controls with Move-Controllers.

Enjoy your ride!

:)

u/AlohaSquash · 1 pointr/PSVR

You don't NEED it, but it's definitely worth the investment! Especially since there are about 10+ PSVR games that support the controller right now (see below). It definitely makes the game MUCH more immersive. You can even aim the gun around corners for blindfire, which feels incredibly intuitive and really gives you the sense of realism. The bundle is $79.99 on Amazon right now (so it's essentially only $40 for the Aim controller when it's bundled this way): https://www.amazon.com/PSVR-Controller-Firewall-Zero-Bundle-4/dp/B07FRCT893
