I believe it is actually the Pentel Sign Pen . I have a single one in purple and the tips bends and looks exactly like this one does

For me, the fineliners of any brand that are actually metal nibs do get a little scratchy but you just rotate the pen in your hand, like you do with pencils as they get blunt. You can't use too much pressure on them or use them up against rulers too hard because it cuts into the tip (and no metal rulers at all!). For me, the Papermate Flairs actually drag on the page compared to my fineliners which flow really nicely when you're on the right part of the nib. I actually like the Artline 200 Fineliner in black for my usual writing. Or the Papermate Inkjoy gelpens in the 0.7mm tip.

The Staedlers are a much finer point, I think they're 0.3mm when the Papermate Flairs are 0.7mm. So they're good for writing and small detail but you might want to stick to Flairs if you like nice bold lines for boxes and stuff. The Sharpie Fine Point that I use is 0.7mm but I know there's a Sharpie Permanent Marker that's fine point so I thought I'd link the exact one. The Artline 200 is a 0.4mm tip. So based on what you use and their tip size, the actual Staedler Fineliners might not be best for you but there might be some that are more what you like based on tip size.

The set you linked isn't exclusively their sign pens (that would be something like these) but there is a sign pen in there. That particular set is meant more for experimentation. Each of them is a very different tip from the others, so it could be a good way to get a feel for what you like. I'm a fan of the Jetpens samplers for the same reason, like this one here, which spans several different brands and styles.

The pen recommended is often refered to as a "fiberpen" "liner" "fineliner". There are several different producers out there so look for example:

Here is some quick amazon links of exampels:
Artline
Staedtler
Faber-Castell
Micron

You should be able to find atleast one variant of this in your local artstore, office supply store, etc.

Working in UX for over 5 years and running a team/building their "welcome set" of tools, I have literally tried almost every major drawing pen on the market. While I love Micron and Copics, I found the Staedtler Pigment Liners exceed both in line quality and include a set in every design team member's welcome pack.

That said, we still have a need for bulk pens and while we were all previous Sharpie fans (especially the Sharpie Pen) recently Pilot Released the Razor Point II and it's by far the best mass market pen I've ever used. My entire design team here has become converts and whenever we give one to a non-designer at the company they are instantly in love with how good these are. So affordable too. Pick these up, you will not be disappointed. The Pentel Sign Pen is a much superior product to the general Sharpie Fine Point. Also, I second Elendilking's Copics alcohol markers for greys and color. All of these being Japanese products, that country knows their ink!

I tend to go to Barnes and Noble for bullet journals. They have some pretty ones. My preferred journal is an A5 dotted type. Amazon also has a couple good brands too I’ve tried. Here’s the specific one I’m using right now.

I get my pens from Amazon. They’re like off-brand Staedlers: 60-pack with stencils or a smaller pack for trying.

Happy bullet journaling!

u/kimwim42 · 2 pointsr/Scotch

Man, I remember when Flairs first came out, they were being given away when I worked at McDonalds. One per customer, blue, sides were groved to make it easier to hold, we took a few home. What a wonderful invention they were back in the day! We hoarded them, making them last for years until they dried out.
Wow. Memories.

edit . and it's my birthday, so I've got that going for me. which is good.

You can spend a small fortune on microns and prismacolors, but whats more important is getting comfortable with the pen. Find yourself some cheaper fineliners at Hobby Lobby (or equivalent geographical hobby store) and a notebook for $5. The Staedtler and other quality brands can wait. Something like THIS but don't spend a fortune. Good luck, and happy sketching!!!

heres the amazon link

They write really smoothly, a little bleeding but barely any if you find the right pressure, and the colors are really poppy. Like the yellow stands out really nice, and usually yellows are poo. :)

u/jenesuispastafille · 2 pointsr/bujo

I use the skinny side of a tombow brush pen for the outlines, zebra mildliners for the marker-y bits, and these for the rest:

Fineliner Color Pen Set,0.38mm Colored Fine Line Point,Assorted Colors,10-Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N91KDWN?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

ETA: the light green pen is a stabilio fineliner

u/Jackson622 · 2 pointsr/ArtFundamentals

In lessons 1 through 3, I used an 0.7 fineliner to super impose over my lines. My issue with this was I feel like it burns out the tips way too fast due to the the slight increase in pressure required.

In lesson 4, I used a brush pen to super impose my silhouette lines.

In lesson 5 I found this at my local store and wanted to try it. It's also a "brush pen" but has a more normal tip -- hard to explain.

I really like using the 2nd pen, it feels very flexible and smooth.

However, based on my feedback I might be over doing it or using it improperly so I might have to walk it back some.

u/bigBIEN · 2 pointsr/evangelion

For the grooves and small detail, I used a Pitt Artists pen, about 0.1 mm, bought it at a hobby shop, used a q-tip to remove excess around the grooves, it led to really crisp and delicious looking detail. I used something similar to this.

My favourite is this set of 36, they are even marketed for these colouring books. I also like to compliment with these for the range of colours (50). And of course these Stabilo 68 ones are really nice colours, but I only have 20. I've been eyeing the set of 40, but let's be honest. I have too many pens!

I do own some pro-markers and they bleed through anything that is not specifically marketed as bleed-proof :(

u/A_Blank_Space · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

For the $10 and under contest, I would like these pens.

EDIT: Read it wrong, I don't have a furry friend, sorry.
It's too damn hot outside.

u/Delfoxy · 2 pointsr/Embroidery

Love it! For marking up fabric pre-stitching I like using the Papermate Flair Ultra-Fine because they're water soluble and come in a bunch of colors!

u/sama2962 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Notebooks, but I do use them. As well as pens/markers to go with. I love PaperMate Flair Pens as they write so smoothly and are great for long notes, but they get stolen frequently. Bic Gelocity are great all around as the grip is comfy and the ink flows amazingly, also works on skin.

The next I wanna add to my collection is the Bic BodyMark because I constantly draw on myself, and a bullet journal kit!

A good set of pens is really fun for creative types. Pentel SignPens (either these or these) are fantastic. Sakura and Stabilo make great ones as well. I like previously offered highlighter ideas and love my new see-through ones that I linked there. Also what about a set of sketch pencils?

What about some paracord and accessories for making guinea pig leashes? There are tons of sites that tell how to make them, she might be into it.

I also just recently got a little more into makeup and found an AMAZING set of cheap makeup brushes as a starter set - These and I'm actually getting them for my 18 yo niece for Christmas.

Best of luck!

It's a Sign Pen by Pentel. It goes on really smoothly.

We have a cool guide for choosing a brush pen in our sidebar, so you could always start there. Personally I like to use a pencil and tombow abt brush pens, stabilos, sharpies, copics, eddings and dozens of other pens I randomly find at my local stores. For paper I usually use the cheapest A3 copy paper I can find and only invest in special marker paper when I have some extra money to spend.

Sandarac sounds nice :)

This is the item i'd like if I won please :) That is the link, but if not it is on my Stationary Wishlist :)

u/Basicallyabutt_whip · 1 pointr/bujo

I would suggest you go felt tip if it is smearing that badly for you. I use the 1.0 G2 so I really have to give it time to dry but it works for me.

I got this pack of colored pens off Amazon and they are great for the price

u/laulluke · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Hey! I'm Loren ☺️

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope things start to look up for you!!

Contest- These ☺️ because I have some lovely colouring books but nothing to colour with!

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I can't help you with the scanning or textures part as the only portion of my work that's digital is some editing of my photography, but I do draw traditionally! If you're looking for some nice pens, I recommend these: http://www.amazon.com/Le-Pen-12-Color-Set/dp/B005987DYE/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1377140064&sr=1-1&keywords=le+pen+pens

They come in a ton of colors and are sooooo smooth. I use them all the time. Good luck :)

A little late to the game, but here goes:

  • Everyday pen, to use when filling out forms at work, jotting down quick notes on a postit: Pilot Acroball

  • Pen to use when taking notes in class: Pilot Acroball multipen. (I color-code my notes)

  • Pens in fun colors: Pilot Juice 0.5. I often use these to take notes during meetings when I would otherwise get grumpy. Also good for writing letters to my pen pals!

  • Felt-tipped pen, good for writing letters or when I want something more smudge-proof: Sakura Pigma Micron

    Honorable mentions:

  • Le Pen - great felt-tipped pen that comes in pretty colors

  • Paper Mate Flair - I have about 15 of these sitting in a pen holder on my desk. I grab various colors throughout the day to use when underlining documents or jotting down notes on my to do list.

  • Staedtler Triplus Fineliner - awesome pens, lots of great colors (see the selection on JetPens for pastel and neon colors!)

  • Sharpie - what's not to love? I have both the fine point and ultra fine point varieties on my desk at all times.

Super cool pens

I really like drawing and righting with thick marker like pens. I have not had these since I stole some from my dad as a kid. I want to draw super cool thank you notes to all my new RAoR friends.

u/broken_ship · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I love writing with these, especially when I'm color-coding my notes!

Write On!

u/smartache · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

My favorite pens for $4.57 from my Under 5 WL. :) Today will be a good day because you are showering for once. Haha.

u/Adama82 · 1 pointr/funny

You obviously don't work in the professional world, where an awesome pen is like a knight's sword. Sharpie makes a line of clickable pen-style writing implements. They're pretty badass: https://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Retractable-Point-Black-3-Count/dp/B002ONCFF4/ref=pd_sim_229_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B002ONCFF4&pd_rd_r=QDM9TW2GH4SZ9MBR4GJW&pd_rd_w=PtJcX&pd_rd_wg=ksRl1&psc=1&refRID=QDM9TW2GH4SZ9MBR4GJW

^^^^ This x1000

Edit: Now that I've actually clicked on the link the OP posted, those pens suck. I bought those thinking the same thing, since it was advertised on the package for use on glossy paper. But nope, still smears really easily. The sharpie pens dry much quicker than the uniball pens.

u/chemmissed · 1 pointr/bulletjournal

Thanks for the compliment and question! I teach, so I strive to have neat handwriting for whiteboard work. :)

I love the Staedler triplus fineliners so far! They didn't arrive until a couple of days after my notebook, though, and I was eager to get started. :) Many of the earlier pages were done using one or more of the following:
