At 6'3", it doesn't do much for me in terms of wind on my chest or head. I got it for looks, and to keep the wind off my phone when it's mounted, which it does both well imo (and very cheaply).
Edit: when I'm fully tucked, it does do it's job well

Try using a chip repair kit. Just don't use very much resin and be more careful when you're scrapping, so you don't pull the filler out of the pit. You could also try calling a glass repair shop.

I have the Krator and I'm happy with it. But I've never had anything else so I don't know the difference. General internet info says most people are super happy. The windshields that JD sells will bolt right up to the Krator fairing if you need taller or shorter.

Yea I agree with this. You could make it work but the reality is that its just not fun for long stretches on the interstate. By adding a windshield and replacing the rear sprocket on my Drz with a 39 tooth I was able to cruise comfortably a little bit faster. But eventually the commute just turned into a chore and I found myself not riding with my full attention, which led to a few sketchy situations with other commuters. Now i'm commuting in the car until I get a new bike, and keeping the drz for what it does best.
If you just need a little bit, get a Spitfire Slipstreamer. $62 and plenty durable.

Yea its faster than some but slower than some cars. I have the gs for some commuting and light trail use. I got a cheap aftermarket windshild and it actualy looks great with the styling of the bike.

Buffeting was killing me, like buffeting to the point of blurry vision. The air is smooth now. With it angled up, the blast is directed over my helmet. With it angled down, I get lots of SMOOTH air (great in town). Angling up also keeps most of the rain off my visor, angling down once in a while blasts the water off my visor.
This unit is surprisingly well made. I was nervous based on the price, but it's a solidly made unit. Good machining, good quality plastic, silicone boots where it clamps so no scratches on my windscreen. There's a metal plate that the set screws clamp to, so the clamping force is spread out. Adjustable friction for the tilt mechanism. Overall, well designed and made.
As you can see, it also has height adjustment (I haven't changed the height, haven't needed to). For $26, how can you go wrong?
As you might see in my other post, I recently picked up a Nighthawk as my new daily. She runs great but my commute is 45 miles of highway each way every day, and with recent wind storms in my area it has been brutal. So I think I'm going to put a small windshield on and could use some recommendations.
I've poked around online and it looks like there wasn't an option for any kind of factory windshields or fairings that I can find, so I was thinking of something like this. Just big enough to provide a small amount of cushion against the gusts. Are there better options/brands/deals?
It helps a little I think. I haven't tried at 80+ mph yet which is where it gets rough lol. Here's a link to Amazon and the one I bought. It took like a month to get here so if you want to save s few $$$ but don't mind the wait go for it.

Installs very easily, stays put, comes off easily, and looks like it was made for the bike. I would def recommend. I probably prefer the looks of a bike without a screen, but it makes a big difference in comfort when riding at higher speeds.

I use a slipstreamer tombstone, imo they don't ruin the lines of the bike. They don't block all the wind but do prevent a good portion of it pushing against you.

I did a lot of looking around last night at options after our conversation here and read a thread on the road glide forum and I think I'm going to try a 12" Windvest windshield. After 150 miles of highway yesterday back on the stock shield I'm ready to try something else again.
I'll send pictures and report back after I try it out. Not terrible at $170 from Amazon.
