not long, I used a set of hemostats to get a good hold, which he did not enjoy. I pulled and pulled real hard, harder than I'm pulling your leg now.

As others have said its really easy even if you have no experience, there are plenty of youtube videos for resources. An AR is by far the easiest firearm to work on. I started off in your position a few years ago hesitant to mod and now I barrel my own ARs, its addictive and very easy with the hardest part spending money on tools but deals can be had. Lots of great resources out there as well dont let it intimidate you - heres a wall of text of some tools you might want to consider if you're looking to assemble stripped lowers or do minor gun work.

I purchased this set of punches for less than $7 a few years ago looking to do the same as you but being on a college budget. You'll definitely want brass but steel/'chrome' punches have their place (peening roll pins). This is far from the "perfect" set and is chinesium but 4 AR builds, many other firearm disassembles (stripping 3+ glocks, 4+ M&P Pros as well as a couple Rugers to bare frame then back again) and 4+ years later they are still holding up (punches will bend, you can bend them back, especially the small ones, if they get deformed from striking you can file/sand them flat again) but if you have extra cash/are willing to spend more there are many options out there that are oriented towards gunsmithing specifically, I didnt have the money at the time for them and will wait until these give out or I come across something they wont work with before I purchase something else.

You may also want to look into a roll pin starting punch if you are building ARs (or anything that uses roll pins)

But I find Hemostat Forceps to work excellently for roll pins ('pinch' the pin in them, get it started, remove forceps and use punch) (you will not need this for installing a trigger, only roll pins such as a bolt catch)

Also if you're striking punches dont use a regular hammer (chips into your eyes arent good) I use a Nylon Hammer like this

There are other things for barreling such as torque wrenches and vices etc. but the above will allow you to assemble a stripped AR lower and have many other applications for gun work. Good luck any questions dont hesitate to ask.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or not, but I'll help you out here. I'll even use amazon since it's quicker.

Grand total 53.55 (60.24 if you want the steristrips plus this will leave you with extra for additional FAK's). Now if you wanted to get fancy and add in the combat gauze/quickclot, that's where you'll spend some change. TBH though a good pressure dressing (properly applied) is going to do pretty damn well for most people's uses.

metal studs are, in fact, a thing. They're less common in residential construction (single family homes) and more common in condos, apartment complexes, and commercial spaces (where walls are less likely to be load bearing). As far as finding out what's really behind your walls, the best way is to take a look, you could drill a smallish hole in the wall, somewhere you'll be covering with a cabinet anyway, the either look directly in or use a [boroscope](https://www.amazon.com/USB-Borescope-Endoscope-Android-Inspection/dp/B074KXB3JM/) to look in behind the walls. You should be able to see either wood studs or metal studs within 8-12 inches to one side or the other of your hole. If you do have metal studs, you can use self-drilling screws to mount to them, though I'm not sure about how that would work with large items like cabinets, I'm by no means an expert on hanging cabinets or on hanging things to metal studs.

TENS 7000. Amazon. $26.

I love it.

I'd also purchase these pads. Amazon. Ebay.

And I like using electrode gel for a better attachment. Amazon.

I have 4 foot one. I’m going to get a cheap endoscope/borescope and use it with a magnet on the end (if it’s a metal object) or use my grabber. Hopefully this works. Thanks for the advice! Here is the endoscope

I need these from my health and personal care wishlist. They're electrodes for a TENS machine, which helps with my muscle and joint pain, after I have seizures. I only have four, right now, and the adhesive is getting weak, so they don't work anymore.

Here's a smaller, cheaper one, so others can get more.

I've used the 2" pads folded and held in hemostats before for stuff like this:

SAFETY NOTE: Do not hold them with your fingers inside the loops for this purpose, grab them by the outside of the loops so that if something catches, your fingers are not trapped in the loops.

Not OP, but I do a lot of precise cutting, and I'll say that picking up a swann morton scalpel and blades will give you very clean cuts with regularly replacing the blades (which is easy enough with the blades being so cheap).

Handle and Blades

u/BrutalHonestyBuffalo · 5 pointsr/BabyBumps

I regularly use a TENS for other issues I have.

Talked to my OB and she was onboard for me using it during pregnancy and labor if I desired.

I got one through my insurance - it was astronomical and didn't feel as good as the "medical grade" TENS units they use at a PT facility.

I returned that one (it was like 400$ - absurd), and tried a few different ones.

I bought this one from Amazon - it is amazing and does an excellent job for much cheaper(30$)! Weee!
I also bought these pads as replacement.

But seriously - it is far, far better than the one I received through prescription and it is the third one I tried off of Amazon (after learning about it from others with my genetic disorder). Highly recommended!

Not sure if you have ever used one before - but definitely make sure you understand how to put the pads on correctly before you use it!

I have never used a knockoff littmann, or seen one that I know of. I would be weary of a $10-15 stethoscope. You want something decent for school because you are just learning things like how to take a manual B/P, how to auscultate heart and lung sounds, etc and you want to be able to hear what you are listening for. I have used a cheap stethoscope (something like one of these) and it sucks. I had trouble getting a b/p because it was hard to hear.

You don't have to go all out and get a Cardiology III or anything, or even a littmann. There are other decent stethoscopes out there, but get one you can hear with. I used a littmann lightweight in school and it was decent and it only costs about 40 bucks on amazon. If you buy the right stethoscope now, you shouldn't have to buy a new one when you graduate, think of it as an investment. Just put your name on it so it doesn't walk away.

Here's the classic II in (what most nursing students use) in navy blue for $68.

Here's The lightweight for $39.99 in burgundy, the other colors are $44.

Here's an AdScope for $15-$18. I've never used one, but it has good reviews and I have heard of the brand before, so it might be worth a shot if you are truly that strapped for cash.

u/trahnse · 4 pointsr/nursing

I swear by my BATCLIP. I clip it to my left pocket on my scrub pants and I don't even notice it's there anymore.

I used to wear mine on my neck. My preceptor and I had a patient turn crazy on us and he went after my steth. I got this clip shortly after and have been using it for over four years. The clip is super secure and the velcro still grips like the first time!

u/Antije · 4 pointsr/entwives

This except you can save a bunch by buying strips from here in bulk then you can test every week/every other week.

u/theJexican18 · 4 pointsr/medicalschool

Oddly nobody said stethoscope, but at least in my school, we need a stethoscope starting from the first year. For my first year, i used an Omron Stethoscope. I'm not sure what country you are in so dunno if that Amazon link is useful, but it was insanely cheap ($11 USD) and worked just fine for preclinicals. I'm upgrading for third year to a Littmann (still not terribly expensive, around $70 US) mostly because the Omron is a big weight on your neck after being there for 8 hours.

u/DuplexSuplex · 4 pointsr/nursing

What the majority of other's have said, but with a link! Here is my stethoscope, it blew my shitty nursing school one out of the water: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Littmann-Lightweight-Stethoscope-2450/dp/B00AZAMQ2U/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368302530&sr=1-2&keywords=littman

I recommend getting one that is NOT black, just get her favorite color, unless it happens to be black, then get her, like, blue. People beat stethoscopes, unfortunate, but true. The lightweight is boss and serves any and all of my Med-Surg needs.

u/ccdx · 4 pointsr/AcneScars

I agree with what /u/jayfromo says about Dr. David Lim. I'll add my personal experience with rolling scars. I no longer have acne (10+ years now acne free) but the evidence of my severe cystic breakouts still exist in the form of rolling and boxcar scarring on my face.

Vitamin C, Copper Peptides, Niacinamide, Differin/Adapele – For indented scarring? I always wonder... who out there actually brought up a grade 4 scar up to a grade 1 using these?

0.1% Tretinoin, 5x a week, for 13 months. – Honestly, nothing appreciable in terms of raising indented scars level to the rest of my skin. It accelerated skin turnover/growth.. which would be great for PIH but not for PIE or scars. I gave up on this, my face was always way lighter than the rest of my body, it was itchy, peeling, and my face always felt raw. Yes, I could probably have lived #SlugLife (dedicate my mornings and evenings to heavy moisturizing with occlusives like Vaseline) but it just wasn't something I wanted to commit to or present to the world. I would rate tretinoin an F for indented rolling/boxcar scar improvement. If you have indents in your skin, that means you have banded scarring tissue deep in the papillary dermis (past the the epidermis) that is anchoring/tethering the skin layers above it down (this is what an indentation is).

Infini RF Microneedling, 3 sessions in office – This also did very little, but I was able to notice improvement (barely). It was not worth the $3000 total that I spent here in Southern California. It wasn't painful (they numbed my face for an hour before each session), it was super bloody, and my face looked like I fought and lost to a blowtorch for 5-6 days, then an additional 1-3 days on top of that to fully restore back to "normal." I would rate in-office microneedling with RF a D+, considering the price to performance ratio. I understand the "benefits" of the Radio Frequency (basically heating up and melting the skin) but it was just as effective as the next thing I tried below...

Derminator 2, 2.5mm depth, 6 at-home sessions – Figuring that I could continue the results of microneedling without the cost, I ordered a Derminator 2 device and several packs of their needle cartridges. Again, numbed my face and went to down on my cheeks and forehead (though on my forehead I could only tolerate 1.5mm). There's definitely a psychological element to this, as you're causing pain and trauma to yourself... but I was desperate and wanted these scars to raise. I would rate at-home microneedling with a C-. Rated higher than Infini RF microneedling solely because of price ($200 for the device and $4 per needle cartridge).

TCA CROSS, 80%, one time – This would is a bit difficult to assess for several reasons, primarily because I stopped after one session and moved on to weekly 30% Salicylic Acid peels. TCA CROSS is primarily for ice pick scarring... and boxcar scarring.. because you're creating a very deep tunnel wound right down to the papillary dermis. Imagine a zen garden. The sand is your skin. Create lines in the sand with a rake. That's scarring caused by damage. Now drop a basketball onto the areas that have been raked. That's also damage, but you're kind of leveling out or canceling the damage done by the rake. Works great on super narrow and deep points, because you're replacing severe damage with not-so-severe damage. Wouldn't recommend it for the wider rolling scarring since you may in fact be making the appearance worse. The idea is that the skin will heal up to a point that ends with an improvement over your baseline start. You will scab, and it will leave post inflammatory pigmentation that (in my case) lasted 7-8 weeks. It was random though... my forehead didn't have PIH when the scabs healed but my cheeks did. I only had TCA on my boxcar scars. Not going to rate this, but I did have this done on July 27, 2019. Today, the PIH from it is now mostly faded from this. If you do get TCA CROSS done, do not pick the scars. Vaseline up. Work from home if that's an option, or do this during a week break if you're in school. The scabs were not cute...

30% Salicylic Acid Peel, at-home, 6 times so far – Ah, finally some good news. I ran across a reddit comment that inspired me to try this. This guy writes:

> I had severe cystic acne as a teenager that left my face covered in scars. Accutane completely cleared up the acne. It’s been five years since I stopped taking it and I’ve had maybe two or three tiny spots in my fact since then. Unfortunately, the scars persisted for much longer. I’ve found that salicylic acid is very effective at getting rid of scars and hyperpigmentation. Not the 1-2% stuff that you put on and leave on all day for acne treatment, but stronger peels that you apply for a few minutes then rinse off. I use a 20% salicylic acid peel once a week and my acne scars have faded to the point where you only really see them if you look up super close.

Then I ran across a research study here that concludes this:

> Conclusion: The present results suggest that the architecture of the epidermis and the papillary dermis can be regenerated by simply injuring the cornified layer by using topical agents such as salicylic acid that do not cause degeneration or inflammation ... The findings of this study suggest that impairing the cornified layer may have essential effect on the remodeling of the epidermis as well as of the papillary dermis.

Basically, you don't have to go to the extremes of damaging all the layers of your skin with lasers/needles/TCA down to where the banded scarring tissue is tethered. Salicylic Acid at 30%, applied for 20 minutes (I go for 30 minutes, it's fine...) will kick start a process in your skin that causes remodeling and improvement.

So I hopped onto Amazon, and got this. I put about 3ml of it into a shot glass, wash and dry my face, put a nitrile glove on, dip a small square piece of gauze in it, and "paint" my scarred areas with it. Within 2-3 minutes it really starts to sting and heat up. I just sit in front of my bathroom mirror with desk fan pointed at my face and watch YouTube or Netflix on my phone. I keep the glove on and re-dip the solution using the gauze pad and apply to my face every 5-7 minutes. The lightest layer possible. After 30 minutes or so, I get up, take the glove off, and my carefully rinse off the solution ensuring no water gets in my eyes. For some reason, once water comes in contact with the solution... my face starts to really sting.. but I keep rinsing for another minute and it goes away. Pat dry... your face will look blistered for maybe 10 minutes (the skin doesn't break, it's fine). Then you'll look slightly pink and sunburned for 3-4 hours. I'm able to go about my day after that, or go right to sleep since usually I'm doing this on Sunday nights.

I've done this 6 times now and I want to say I have an overall improvement of 50%. It's definitely noticeable. Way more improvement from an $18 bottle (I get 5 uses from it) than I did spending $$$$ on office procedures, or days hiding at home because of "tretinoin flaking."

Everyone's different, maybe some have had holy grail success with the expensive in-office options, but I went that route first... and I wish I didn't. Salicylic Acid is one of the least hardcore and least invasive options out of anything you could be doing to level your scarring... even at 30% strength.

Anyways, just wanted to share my experience because I know how it is struggling with intended rolling scars, and the literature/studies out there are few and far between. Just because something is expensive, doesn't mean it's the end all be all. Remember that these dermatology offices, laser treatment facilities, medspas/whatever, are out to make a profit. They're educated, they're licensed, and they're also a business. Fancy devices with marketing. Whichever options you pursue, I wish you the best of luck and hope you find something that brings your skin to a level that is satisfactory to you!

I use alcohol swabs to clean the area first, which also helps the adhesive to stick. Then I use Opsite Flexifix over the sensor's adhesive (cutting a hole in the middle for the transmitter). This helps to give it a better seal and keep water out so that the sensor lasts longer. After a few days, the edges of the Flexifix do tend to get linty from my clothes, so I just trim off the linty edges and add a new layer of Flexifix on top. It's very thin so even with 2-3 layers, I hardly feel it. You can get a giant roll on Amazon for about $20 (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001SIQCRI/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_gCXrxb0RK49N0). I've had my roll for about 8 months and I think I'm barely halfway through it. And it peels off pretty easily with only an alcohol swab or two. Here's a tutorial on how to make a template: https://youtu.be/o4dUgRZB4h0 Good luck! :)

This. You might purchase a decent off-the-shelf kit and then augment it with more/better items such as pain relievers, anti diarrheal, benadryl or similar. Pads and rolled gauze (these things are VERY useful in a kit).

You might consider a good first aid book and even things like scalpels, hemostats and sutures. Quick Clot and even a tourniquet to stop blood loss.

I keep a bottle of water in my kits as well, you will likely need some water to clean wounds, etc.

Of all the things in my kit I tend to use band aids, ACE bandages, cold compresses and meds the most.

haha I second the ultra fine tip sharpies!! They are essential! Some of the stuff I've gotten along the way were cute/funny badge holders (retractable), scrub hats, nice stethoscope (if she doesn't have one already)/steth holder - after using and hating many of the plastic ones I finally sprung for the leather batclip and I love it (as a student you always have to have your steth on you while walking around and you have to have your hands free)

This book was like gold to me doing peds cases.

For classroom, a lot of people in my class, including me, used these. They write really smooth and fine and all the colors are useful in notes - especially with things like anatomy. She'll need an endless supply of computer paper. I used a good many index cards (ruled).

Good luck to you! It's a very difficulty journey. Try your best to not take things too personally and prepare yourself for a lot less quality time together. It's very difficult to explain it to someone on the outside, but this program actually fundamentally changed me as a person. It hardens you. It's not a bad thing necessarily, but I often think that I'm not the same person that my husband fell in love with!! We stuck it out together and are as happy as ever, but there are definitely plenty of relationships and marriages that don't survive this - so be ready to fight for it!

Honestly, I don't get to check it very often because he won't let me. He's fine when a doctor does it but I can barely put it in before he swats me away. The one I got has a little picture chart to compare to, so that was nice. I think they key is to do it semi often, even when they're not sick, so you get some practice and know what it's supposed to look like and the kiddos get used to it. Adscope 609ST is what I use.

No it's not as good as the more expensive ones but it comes pretty close. And after losing a $300 electronic one, then a $200 cardiology master, well I have to say I am more emotionally attached to this $20 gem than I ever have been to any other I have owned.

I'm not saying the expensive ones aren't better, they certainly are. But after many years of experience and being able to tell the difference between artifact and the sounds I'm looking for. The expensive ones were never needed.

Honestly IMO the most important part of a stethoscope is the ear pieces. Buy some replacement littmann ear pieces and put them on a disposable isolation scope and you'll start wondering why you ever forked out so much for a scope.

Edit:

I would just like to add that technique is more important than your stethoscope. Make sure the diaphragm is completely against the skin or at most over the gown without any leads, wires, or anything else obstructing a complete seal. Then have your patient take a deep breath, then cough.

The bell of a simple stethoscope is important too, which is why I prefer this $20 scope over something even cheaper like the isolation crap. Just get that seal on the diaphragm and those soft ear buds sealed in your ear. That's all you need.

I have two syringes for measuring lactic acid. A 10ml syringe for mash acid and a 1ml syringe for sparge. Though often, I just estimate the sparge addition with the 10ml syringe, as I figure the sparge pH won't make a huge difference.

The 1ml syringe is also useful when pulling a sample for a refractometer reading, if you use that for preboil/postboil gravity estimations, and the 10ml syringe is useful for measuring the correct amount of Star San to make 1 gallon of sanitizing solution.

Skintac under the sensor (try not to touch it with your fingers, it gets EXTREMELY sticky!) then cut a hole out the size of the sensor, and place the tape over the white pad.

I get about 3 weeks out of my sensors before they naturally fail. But if I don't stick them down with the tape and skin tac, they fall off in just a couple days.

Once you learn how to tie a tourniquet, then buy a few cravats, or else a medical-grade tourniquet or battle dressing. On the medical section of our CERT course, the training officer mentioned it is a good idea to have a one of these tourniquets easily accessible on the outside of whatever medkit you have, because it will often be the first thing you want to pull out, when you come across a bleeding victim.

Tourniquets can be improvised, but on a serious / arterial bleed, you would only have a minute or two to MacGyver one before the person loses too much blood.

Lung punctures require some special tools and training to handle, in order to prevent the lung from collapsing. I wouldn't go poking into someone's lungs without a class or two on how to treat it properly.

Tomorrow at some point, tell him that you need to talk to him as soon as he has time. I don't know if you guys live together, live close by or what your situation is. But tell him that you need to talk at his earliest conveniance. Don't take no for an answer, unless he has a really good reason, like work or something. Don't let him smoke beforehand, that might not let him comprehend the seriousness of the conversation. As far as what to say to him during the conversation, that's up to you. But really stress the fact that you're there for him and that for the relationship to work, if something is going on then he needs to be open with you about it. Quite frankly if he is pulling away from you and isn't willing to be open with you about his health/personal life then maybe the relationship isn't as serious as you might think it is. And maybe you need to rethink things. And by things, i mean your relationship with him.

But have the talk first, maybe all it takes is a little reassurance that you are there to help him.

Also in regards to the blood pressure thing, if the doctor prescribed blood pressure medication, then it's serious enough that he needs to take it. As an EMT(and paramedic intern) I can safely say that taking a blood pressure is easy enough to do. If you care enough about him, and have a few bucks saved up, go spend 50 bucks on buying a cheap blood pressure cuff and a cheap stehoscope and learn to take his blood pressure yourself. It takes about 45-60 seconds and is super easy. if I can do it you can, as a matter of fact, if you go that route, msg me and I'll teach you. Or you can spend a bit more and get an in-home automatic blood pressure machine. But seriously, high blood pressure is not something you want to ignore.

This one might be too big for Let’s Split. I do not have one with external screws though, but there are two options that I tried for Planck/Let’s Split:
This one fits Planck like a glove, and that is more loose, Let’s Split fits sideways in it and some room left.

Buy a pack of cheap 1mL oral syringes, something like these. Mine are marked every 0.02mL. Since you're dosing so low you may want to dilute by half so that your preferred dose is an even 0.1mL.

Littman cardiology 4. Get it engraved with her name. Yeah it's expensive, like $200 but she'll use that thing every shift and she'll have it for years. I also have a "batclip" for mine because I have a horrible habit of leaving it on bedside tables, and I hate wearing it around my neck because it's so heavy. Yup. Take the vent cover off, stick your camera (phone on selfie stick?) into the duct and snap a picture. The flash will light up as much of the duct run as it can and you'll see if there is a dead animal, old food, or something else in the duct.

You can also call an HVAC company or buy [one of these] small $15 cameras for your own phone. Check deeper than you may be able to see.

Previous hoarder may have all kinds of things in the vents. Old socks. Old fish. Old wife, etc...

Color changing silica + resealable, one sided mylar baggies

I wrap the L in aluminum and place it in the baggie with a silica packet. If/when the silica packet soaks up 50% of its maximum moisture, it changes color, so at a glance you can see if the packet needs to be changed out. I keep mine in the fridge, but with that setup you could honestly keep it basically anywhere that's not too warm.

One other thing, and this is going into slightly paranoid territory, but when you're talking about 30 years it pays to be a little paranoid :p The oil from your skin will degrade your LSD. I usually have about a sheet that I peel blotters off of over the course of a year. What I found was that once I got towards the end of the batch, it was weaker. I'm guessing handling it caused the issue since I kept it in mylar with silica. So I bought some nitrile gloves for handling the blotters and haven't seen any degradation since. Basically if you touch your blotters, the oil gets onto them, and then it just sits there for a year eating away at your L. If you're a normal person and only keep it for ~a month, it's negligible. If you're keeping it for a year+, you've got to consider small shit like that.

To further reduce its exposure, I like to keep my stash divided into two bags. The first one is the bulk of my stash, and the second is what I use. So I open the second one and grab some, put the rest back... then once its empty, I add more to it from the first bag, so I end up handling the bulk of my stash rather infrequently.

My LO is only three months, but my SIL with a 4 year old and 22 month old suggested I invest now in an ear scope like this one so that you can take a peek at home and if you see inflammation take him in to the doctor. If not, then you can feel more assured that he doesn't have an ear infection and he's just dealing with a cold, and since a cold is a virus all you can do is treat the symptoms anyway you're already doing what you can. She said it was also really useful for teething - one of her sons would only have a fever with an ear infection so this helped her know if his fever was an ear infection or teething.

Yes you can get syringes on Amazon like this that don't have needles and I just suck up some of the product out of the jar and squeeze it into an airless pump. I make sure everything is sanitized by boiling it for a few first.

Side note: If you know any nurses/doctors/people in medical field, you can ask them if they have any as well. They might give you one to use-that's what I did.

Decongestants. Heat on that side. Either a thermophore (moist heat), or a warm washcloth. That's if you actually have congestion in them. If they just feel stopped up, but aren't really - not sure what to tell you.

Also, get one of these. Obviously, you can't use it on yourself, but if you have a partner or friend who is willing to help you out, you can learn to see for yourself (secondhand, lol) what's really going on in there when you feel stopped up. I got one years ago to verify for myself what was going on when my kids were getting cranky or misbehaving - can't tell you how often it was because they had an ear infection, but weren't displaying typical pain or fever symptoms.

Jk. I would go with a good pair of sunglasses, a stethoscope, or pens. All the pens. People are really particular about scopes (especially around here), but I'd recommend a Littmann Lightweight. They come in girl colors too and work amazingly. Also not super expensive. Do NOT get her an expensive scope right away. This is a high quality scope at under $50. There's no point in getting a cardiology III for someone right out of school. Let her develop her skills and tastes first.

I got mine through Amazon (currently $256 US).

There are some additional costs to be aware of though.

  1. Resin (~$40): I'm using Elegoo Grey
  2. 99% IPA (~$3) For cleaning prints
  3. UV Light (~$30) for curing
  4. Gloves (~$10) It comes with some, but you'll be replacing those quickly
  5. Ventilation (~$100) depending on where you're printing.

It can add up if you're not careful. So plan for an additional $200.

Vent lines are in red and all are parallel to injection channel.

Looks like you have to be really fast with mixing the resin. I am concerned it is going to start to harden before it has time to work its way into all the molds.

- If I am casting heads and I need a buttload, could I do 4 on each side of injection channel (for total of 8 heads) or would that be too many for resin to work its way in?

- How much resin would this take? I am trying to figure out needle size and how big it needs to be. Not sure if 10mL would be big enough

16 mLs isnt going to go far up on a cup that size. Even on the smaller dixie cups its not a lot. A small visine bottle is 15 mLs in comparison.

Like u/foomits said clinics calibrate each am. I do remember someone saying on here there clinic only calibrated monthly. Which would be weird as then you would have methadone out unlocked always.

Its actually kind of cool that they have the liquid literally all gthe way to the end of the hose and it doesnt drip out, due to vacuum pressure.

i mean i guess its possible that they are in correctly calibrating, but highly unlikely. From an occums razor standpoint if you think about all the ways methadone could be stolen, this would probably be the hardest way.

You could always bring a 200 mL oral syringe and measure it in front of them. However keep in mind that the nurse you do that to will not forget that though.

Heres what a one mL oral syringe looks like. Which is 10 mgs. https://www.amazon.com/1ml-Syringe-Only-Luer-Slip/dp/B01LZ80YOV/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1526498274&sr=8-3&keywords=1+ml+oral+syringe

The proper tape is critical and this stuff is amazing. It's thin, flexible, transparent and holds incredibly well. It's flexible enough to slip a device under the tape which also adds to the device's gripping power.

Get the 4" wide roll and cut off a 1/2" strip. Wrap smoothly and snugly either on or slightly behind the scar line then pull forward.

Tolerance depends on how frequently you smoke, how much you smoke, and how long you've been smoking. It also depends on your weight and how much fat you have (THC is fat soluble).

I'm cutting back from a bowl a day right now. A bowl-a-day habit will build up tolerance rather quickly.

My recommendation: cut off weed. Taper your consumption if necessary. After 2-3 weeks or so, [drug test](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001YYTDLS/sr=1-2/qid=1309915911/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1309915911&sr=1-2&seller= "You can also get the strips at your local pharmacy.") yourself. If you fail, keep testing every so often.

Once you're clean, your tolerance should be back down to the point where a small bowl is adequate.

Overall it's worked but it's a PITA to get started. The App it uses is garbage and it's hit or miss if it will actually run on my phone (Pixel 2). Sometimes it freezes and I have to start the connection and everything over again. If the camera has sat for more than a week I have to recharge it before it will work. The camera will still turn on and it will connect to my phone, but it won't send any video.

Over all I'm pretty disappointed, I was hoping for something that was a little less hassle to use. It seems like I spend more time futzing with the thing to get it working than I do actually using it.

I personally have an olive drab 'Rip Away EMT Pouch' from Condor. I work seasonally for the US Forest Service and we are encouraged to keep a small first aid kit with us, I wanted something small that I could stick on the side of my line gear, here is a side profile of the pouch as well.

On the inside I keep some very basic stuff, gloves, a few 4x4s/3x3s/2x2s, a few small bandage rolls and bandaids, a small roll of kling and tape, a thing of quikclot, an icepack, an elastic swat-t tourniquet, cpr faceshield, alcohol preps, an antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone cream, some blister pads and moleskin and a small bottle of eye wash. I also have this pill organizer stuck in there where I keep some basic OTC meds like ibuprofen, tylenol, asprin, immodium, benadryl, acid reducers, and motion sickness pills. I also have a rolled up sam splint I pack that won't fit in my pouch.

It feels excessive to me sometimes for a 'first aid' kit, but when we are way out in the backcountry away from help I am glad I have it. And I like having a little extra (especially the OTC meds) because there is always someone on the crew who didn't pack anything, and I like to help em out until we get back to camp. I also keep it with me during the off season if I go hiking or camping with friends.

As far as flashlights go, I think I saw it here on r/ems but someone recommended the Cree 7W 300LM Mini LED and holy hell are they awesome, plus at $2.31 a piece they are a steal. Solid body, sturdy metal clip, and runs on a single AA battery. I have like 15 of these things, I keep them in all my vehicles, backpacks, tool drawers, etc. I keep one in my pants when I am at work as well.

In a mass casualty situation, I would completely ignore anyone that needed CPR and focus on the bleeders. The time you spend giving one person CPR could be used stabilizing a dozen people who are bleeding.

For extremities, the most useful thing is a tourniquet. I prefer one with a windlass like a [CAT] (https://www.amazon.com/C--Combat-Application-Tourniquet-GENERATION/dp/B018R73OWI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468623443&sr=8-1&keywords=gen+7+cat+tourniquet) or [SOFTT] (https://www.amazon.com/Tac-Med-Solutions-SOFTT-W-Tourniquet/dp/B00E3W3BK2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1468623620&sr=8-2&keywords=sof-t) over a [TK4] (https://www.amazon.com/H-Associates-TK4-Tourniquet/dp/B003YHGKF0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468623679&sr=8-1&keywords=tk4+tourniquet) or [SWAT] (https://www.amazon.com/SWAT-T-Tourniquet-Black-1-Count/dp/B003IWNOVO/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468623735&sr=8-2&keywords=swat+tourniquet).

For injuries to the abdomen, armpit, crotch, or neck; you will want a homeostatic agent. [Combat Gauze] (https://www.amazon.com/QuickClot-Combat-Gauze-Z-Fold/dp/B001E1CLTC/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468623859&sr=8-1&keywords=combat+gauze) is the way to go here, it is much better than powdered QuickClot.

For penetrating chest trauma (also called 'sucking chest wounds'), you need a large, occlusive bandage on both the entry and exit. In clinical testing of chest seals, the [Halo] (https://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Medical-Performance-Occlusive-Dressing/dp/B003VSORKC/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468624256&sr=8-3&keywords=chest+seal) and [Hyfin] (https://www.amazon.com/North-American-Rescue-Hyfin-Chest/dp/B00KQS2NGK/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468624483&sr=8-1&keywords=hyfin) drastically outperformed the [Asherman] (https://www.amazon.com/Rusch-Inc-849100-Asherman-Chest/dp/B0015TE9N4/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1468624546&sr=8-2&keywords=asherman+chest+seal).

I also personally have a [decompression needle] (http://www.rescue-essentials.com/h-h-needle-decompression-kit-tpak/) to treat tension pneumothorax, but I advise you not to get it unless you have specific training on it.

My mom is a preschool teacher, so that stuff would be awesome!

My favorite school subject is science(specifically biology). I love it because our knowledge of it is always constantly changing and the scientific community discovers new things daily.

Also, I know it's lame, but forceps are fucking awesome. I love it when we use them in class, haha.

Sorry fellas, I've been caught up with school/homework. But not to worry, OP delivers..

  • Nexus 7
  • Nexus 5 - If you're thinking about getting this phone, just do it. I just switched from AT&T (iphone 4s) to Ting, and I couldn't be happier. I went from paying $50 a month, to under $25 with no drop in service..plus I got a month free (just for switching) and a sexy new phone. If you decide to try Ting out, use my referral link. We'll both get a $25 credit. Yay :)
  • Kershaw Cryo 1555Ti - One of the sexiest things I've ever had in my pants
  • "Remove Before Flight" Keychain - Makes it so easy to spot my keys or pull them from my pocket.
  • As for the Caduceus keychain, I purchased it on Etsy, but I can't remember the store..
  • Lucky Line 71101 Key Ring
  • [Casio Unisex MQ24-7B] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GAYQU4/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) - A simple, functional watch.
  • ADC ADLITE Disposable Penlight - Cheap. Dependable. Cool to play with.
  • Pilot G2 .38 & .7
  • Zebra .5 mechanical pencil. Not sure of the model (the number got rubbed off from usage), but I've had this pencil for over 6 years. The SAME one, and it's still going strong.
  • 3M Littmann Lightweight II S.E. - THE LIGHTEST steth you'll ever wear. I've tried the cardiology 3 and various others, but after wearing them for >5-8 hours at a time, your neck starts to hurt. With this one, I have to check to see if I'm still wearing it at the end of the day. Yes, there IS a slight difference between the 3 and this one in terms of acoustics but to me, it's not worth the $100 markup and neck pain.
  • Zippo Regular Matte Pocket Lighter - I don't even smoke, but being able to create fire on the spot is what separates us from the animals, right?

If you guys have any more questions, I'll get to them when I can. Sorry again for the wait :)

These were the ones I saw that made me ask. Looking closer it says they are sterile and individually sealed... but it says it's for industrial use only. I ended up bookmarking these instead because they specify they can be used for oral medication.

You can buy/borrow a snake camera like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073ZFC59R
Maybe that will help you determine where that pipe goes? Otherwise there are PVC leak kits that are better than flex seal:

Good luck!

Pulling ethernet cable will be easier without an RJ45 end on it, so you may invest in a crimper set, but you can buy pre-crimped cables and only cut one side off to save you from having to do both. Most all of the holes have likely already been drilled in your stud out to the doorbell location and have room in each hole to string a CAT cable through there. So then it comes down to trying to minimize the number of access holes you cut. You typically need one hole per stud bay, but sometimes you can get lucky and poke the cable through a stud bay and avoid needing another hole there, if the holes are inline and you just get lucky.

You might invest in a cheap phone borescope, and some fiberglass "fiberglass rods".

I taught protest first aid for years and helped get several street medic collectives off the ground.

Bulk medical supplies generally don't make sense unless you're willing to buy in serious bulk. I'm talking like a case of 50 boxes with 2,000 gauze pads each. At that point prices start dropping below what you'd pay if you just bought them straight out retail but unless you're stocking a hospital or other medical unit, you aren't going to use the supplies that fast.

For the most part, best way to go about it is to make a list of everything you need/want in a medical kit tailored to your expected needs and then shop around to find the best deal. I've ordered off Amazon before, I've bought stuff in person at medical supply places, it just depends who has the best deal.

Pre-built kits are almost always more expensive than building it yourself and about 80% of the time you're paying a huge markup for supplies that cost maybe a few dollars. There are good pre-built medical kits out there but you're still paying a premium for someone else to build it for you. Plus you'll be getting supplies you may not need in which case it's wasted money.

We used to divide things up into "hard" and "soft" supplies.

Hard supplies were things that we could afford to cut corners on if we had to and could buy from whoever had the lowest price; bags, medical tape, glucose tablets (we used candy), q-tips, cotton balls, alcohol swabs, etc.

Soft supplies were things that had to be bought from a reputable supplier and were considered critical for providing the right care; bandages, sterile gauze, antibacterial gel, gloves, masks, etc.

Hard supplies can usually be ordered from other, non-medical sources and repurposed to fit the need. For example, we bought cotton swabs from a craft supplier. They were intended for crafting use but they were clean and cheap so we used that.

AliExpress is a good source for hard supplies. Most of the time they sell the exact same thing that you can get domestically but they're selling it a lot cheaper.

Oh how I wish we'd had access to AliExpress during Occupy. Do note that shipping from China takes a while.

Soft supplies are trickier but are almost always cheaper online. You can sometimes set up a small scale bulk purchase with a local medical supply place but with the internet this isn't as feasible as it used to be. Order a single set of what you want, look at it, make sure it meets your standards, and then place a bigger order when you're sure you've got what you want.

Also be sure to check any expiration dates on what you get. Sometimes these things sit for a while and for something like bandages it doesn't matter as much, you really want to pay attention to it when it comes to things like antibacterial gel.

Sorry, I should have specified locking forceps or hemostats. This is a random example pulled from Amazon. They are super useful when sewing through layers or heavier fabrics and the needle gets stuck. Grasp it with the forceps and pull it right through!

Kanthal is typically used and will be your most commonly seen wire. I only know of Gplat as an alternative (I used it... not worth the price increase IMO) I get mine from Amazon, I originally started with 28 gauge, then a buddy let me borrow his 26 gauge, that was good too. I purchased some 24 gauge and it drains my batteries hard (which is why I want a dual box mod.)

Yes, a mod is the housing. Then you will need your atomizer and battery.

I started dripping with the IGO-w atty with the Smok Magneto Mod. Biggest problem I had with it is it was small and i had to drill the air holes. I still use the Magneto.

I would never suggest tank anything. I tried both the genuine and the clone russian 91% and it was a terrible experience.

So, for a beginner getting into dripping I would suggest these parts:

[Plum Veil Atomizer] (http://www.eciggity.com/plume-veil-clone-by-tobeco/) (Note! I have not bought anything from this site.)

ANY single battery 18650 mechanical mod. They all realistically do the same thing. RipTrippers.com does a lot of reviews, they should be able to point you in the right direction. I do however suggest one with a magnetic fire button instead of spring. (It will lower resistance and last longer because springs are weaker than magnets)

Atleast 2 [18650 Sony batteries] (http://www.myvaporstore.com/SONY_VTC5_18650_2600mAh_Battery_Flat_Top_30A_p/sny65026-f.htm)

Charger I chose the two battery one for money purposes but I suggest the 4 since it's only like $5 more and can charge a myriad of batteries

[These clamp things] (http://www.amazon.com/5-5-KELLY-Hemostat-FORCEPS-Straight/dp/B000QWK174/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1414788271&sr=8-6&keywords=medical+clamps) makes building much easier

I use these but a lot of people use nailclippers

[Wire] (http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Lightning-Vapes-Kanthal-Resistance/dp/B00JVXVKB0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1414788396&sr=8-2&keywords=28+gauge+kanthal+wire) either 28 or 26 gauge is what I would recommend.

Cotton Balls

[Ohm Tester] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MBNCOMG/ref=s9_simh_gw_p328_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0J7AHRP45YSC4DHAS7DB&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846)

Drill bits, allen keys or screwdriver to wrap coils around (i usually use Allen Keys)

Another Screwdriver for you builds

Tweezers are nice for accurate adjustments

Some people suggest a torch.... it's a waste of money for most builds. The main idea behind them is they are used to burn off any chemicals on the wire... but when you are done building you just fire it a few times before you put cotton in them and it does the same thing. Some builds need a more flexible wire... that is the only time you will need it.

Note: I 100% support the use of Clones, especially when you are starting out your vape life. They save so much money and do an adequate (if not better) job of most authentics.

getting the supplies

Agar agar powder. [US](https://www.amazon.com/Telephone-Product-Thailand-Powder-Ounce/dp/B01KMHY2OU/) [Europe](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Special-Ingredients-Premium-Gelatine-European/dp/B00EZMPMNE)

Always start with agar! And don't throw old fully colonized plates out. Some contaminants (e.g. mycogone, AKA wet bubble disease will only show up after full colonization (white blobs oozing yellow/orange fluid). and that one (mycogone) will fck up your grow hard, been there done that...

Light malt extract. [US](https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Light-Dried-Malt-Extract/dp/B007XYGBXQ/) [Europe](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Balliihoo-Light-Spraymalt-1Kg-Bag/dp/B0153BASSY/)

Containers for no pour agar (Pasty Plates). [US](https://www.amazon.com/Glad-Food-Storage-Containers-Round/dp/B000WGBMMM/) [Europe](https://www.flaschenbauer.de/einmachglaeser/sturzglaeser/sturzglas-225-ml-to-82) (maybe use Google translate on that site). Also if you are in North America there are Glad mini rounds, they are used in the original Pasty Plate tek. They also have [430ml jars](https://www.flaschenbauer.de/einmachglaeser/sturzglaeser/sturzglas-430-ml-to-82) suitable as substrate containers

A pressure cooker. Good ones are a b**ch to find in Europe. I wouldn't buy [that one](https://www.ebay.de/itm/Pressure-cooker-17L-Stainless-steel-Made-In-Turkey-Largest-Size/133128864948) or similar constructed ones, they are complete s**t, build up next to no pressure and need ungodly amounts of water. I have two of them, but had to do some haphazard MacGyveresqe hacking to get them to sterilize properly, I'll bring that up later.

I also have a Fagor Alu 22 (22 liters, fits eleven quart bottles), but I think that model went out of production in 2017 without a replacement. IMHO the only sane option in Europe right now, would be to order a Presto from the US, they're ~80€ + 40€ shipping, so not that bad. [Presto 23 quart PC](https://www.amazon.com/Presto-Aluminum-23-Quart-Pressure-Canner/dp/B073NCFL2L/)

Also on US websites like shroomery, you'll always read something like "sterilize 90min @ 15 psi". Pressure cookers in Europe usually have no gauges and only go to 50-70 kPa (~7-10 psi). It isn't as bad as it sounds, since sterilization time isn't linear with pressure/temperature. I've found I can get away with 120 min sterilization time for grains, 75 min for PF sub and 30 min for agar.

Scalpel handle and blades. [US](https://www.amazon.com/100-Scalpel-Blades-One-Handle/dp/B01MPX3JTI/) [Europe](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Swann-Morton-Handle-5-10-Blades/dp/B004OIAVJY/)

A spray bottle for soapy water. [US](https://www.amazon.com/Tolco-Bottle-Frosted-Assorted-Colors/dp/B000H88PCU/) [Europe](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Leifheit-72416-Laundry-Sprayer/dp/B0049PB11Y/)

Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), 70%. [US](https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Brand-Isopropyl-Antiseptic-Technical/dp/B07NFSFBXQ/) (dilute down to 70%, that percentage is best for sanitization [EU](https://www.amazon.co.uk/We-Can-Source-Ltd-Fingerprints/dp/B07PGB5X6Y/)

A rack to elevate your agar dishes while you do transfers, like these that come with microwave ovens (contaminants tend to collect on the SABs bottom).

A slightly wet towel to put the SAB on. Some people disagree on this, I use the towel to absorb the sprayed soap/water mix and not having that run off the table.

A clear box that's modified as a SAB. I use this one as a SAB, maybe they ship outside Germany. Anyway the manufacturer is kis.it (builds the monotub too), so I think they might be available elsewhere in Europe: https://www.obi.de/aufbewahrungsboxen/obi-allzweckbox-santos-transparent-oversize-140-l/p/3333341?template=PDP&box=box4

More clear boxes used to fruit bottles (basically a monotub, just with individual substrate containers). I use these as unmodded monos (no holes, no flipped lid, lids not latched): https://www.obi.de/aufbewahrungsboxen/obi-allzweckbox-cadiz-l-mit-4-rollen-transparent/p/1930387.

Butane torch [US](https://www.amazon.com/Multipurpose-MDee-Culinary-Refillable-Adjustable/dp/B07MNN2B43) [Europe](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kollea-Adjustable-Refillable-Blowtorch-Soldering/dp/B07QC1T6H5)

Bottles (can be wide mouth pint mason jars (US), quart Ziplock PP5 containers (US) or [these (which I use)](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Round-Food-Containers-Plastic-Clear-Storage-Tubs-with-Lids-Deli-Pots-2oz-to-32oz/232308091965)

Above is all the basic stuff you need for this hobby, I might of missed something, but don't think so.

Get the models and paints from https://www.darksphere.co.uk/pgc.php?c=1106 as it could literally mean for example, in my case, I can buy 3 manticores(the thing with a load of rockets) for the price of 2 manticores from the offical site or shop of gamesworkshop.

Everything is about 30% cheaper than offical places but literally the same stuff.

Also, look on ebay daily as they have some great deals sometimes, also would really pay to get some cheap shitty model and practice on it, rather than getting some nice and new model and using it as practice.

Hope this helps:)

Your opiate point also reminds me of something I went through: opioid-induced hyperalgesia. Basically, with long term opiate use, the thing that's supposed to treat pain causes you more pain and makes you hypersensitive to stimuli.

Also, I went to let you know you can get one for $25 on Amazon for yourself, aswell as enough pads for a very long time for $20. Make them last by not changing the pads very often, even when they loose stickiness they still have the conductive gel so I use cheap medical tape to stick them on.

I'm not one for filling huge pockets with stuff and we're required to have enough of the standard bits and pieces but there's two extra things I've found that I love:

Snapit ampoule opener - not necessary but personal deficiencies mean I've never managed 100% ampoule opening success by hand and this thing does it perfectly every time, is small and durable, ideal for EMS use. Obvciously no point if not using glass amps but I no longer hate metoclopramide now because of this thing.

Batclp - leather steth clip that feels like something you'd hold a gun with or something, very durable and simple but the only product I can find that works so well and is so simple. Handmade and a bit pricey much like the snapit but the best way to keep a steth neat and attached to something I can find.

A quality steth is the standard gift and there's a lot of Littmann Classic IIs in daily use that have rattled around ambulances for decades since someone left training school.
