Due to the Index using Display Port, I had to come up with a way to play it outside my office without running a long cable. The solution i came up with was to drill a hole through the wall and make that room a VR room. I absolutely love it!

EDIT:

For those who are interested, here are links to some of the things I used for the room:

Foam padding (Blue)

Foam padding (Black)

Velcro (used to hang the foam on the walls)

Here is a post I've seen before that had saved. Note: I have quite a bit of this equipment but there are many options out there. Find stuff similar to this.
-----

Here's the beginner sets I usually recommend:

  • Dicks Sporting Goods 300lb Weight Set which is currently at $190. It also includes a bar. I do not recommend dropping these for Deadlifts, though.

  • Fitness Reality Full Cage which is currently for $260.

  • Fitness Gear Bench which is currently about $90.

That'll probably run you about $600 after taxes. But that will be everything you would actually need.

There's several other things I got along the way which I think you would find useful, but not necessary.

    Additional items:

  • Weight Storage Tree which should hold everything from your set.
  • Bar Weight Locks currently $10.
  • Floor Protection
  • Pull Up Bands
  • Back Extension/Sit up Bench

I made my homegym and I absolutely love it! It's my temple. Here's a note though.... you need to think long and hard on if you will use it. I work out 3-5 times a week. I stretch in there every day. Will you use it for 3 times a week minimum? Are you willing to move it when the time comes? Can you spare a 8x10ft area for this equipment?

The briefcases are Solo Grand Central Attaché Cases.
On the outside each one got an Engraved Plaque with the groomsman's name and nickname.
The axe is a Columbia River CRKT Birler Compact Axe.
The liqueur is a small bottle of JW Black Label 200ml.
The little silver oval is a collapsible shot glass.
Vintage Bicycle Cards.
The inside is cut EVA foam stacked three high, carved to hold the items, glued together, covered in red velvet cloth from Hobby Lobby, adhered with Gorilla spray adhesive.
The straps are leather bracelets (also from Hobby Lobby) dyed black using Fiebing's Leather Dye, with a bronze topper (brads?) to cover the screw anchoring them in place.
I don't have a good shot of the inside top, but there is a cigar (I forget which brand, I'm not really a cigar guy). They were rectangular. You can see it at the top of the third shot.
Also a silver pen, a cigar cutter, a small survival tool, a credit card knife, and an Oz-Kurt engraved flip knife.
I also wrapped the axe handle in a Leather strapping to give it some extra texture.

Whelp, I THINK that's everything. Thanks for taking interest in my post!

Cover your floors (especially where they’re most likely to run) with something like these then throw a carpet over the top of it, and you should be good to go. As a drummer living in an apartment, I’m sure they will help greatly and appease your neighbors until your kids learn to walk a bit more gently :)

1a) These are just cheap pads from Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B4IHXRU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yllPCbFGVY624

1b) I can do barbell work on them (rows, deadlifts, hip thrusts, etc.) and burpees but for burpees I have found shoes will wear the texture on them out. I do find them spongy for burpees but I figured it was adding resistance in a small way. Overall I do not recommend these puzzle tiles for a home gym largely because for the same price that I paid for the area I covered I could have done stall mats had I known about them before buying these. Stall mats and plywood to build a platform are my next purchase for the gym and I will use lag bolts to anchor the rack to the platform which leads to your next question.

2) Your eagle eyes are correct, no bolts here currently. I'm 220lbs and I can do dips, pull-ups, hanging ab work, etc without any wobble at all on this rack. Part of that is because I have almost 500lbs of weight stored on the sides and that this EliteFTS rack is really heavy itself since it is made of 3x3 11 gauge steel. I got away with dips and pullups on my 2x2 Valor rack without bolting it to the floor either but that rack did get pretty wobbly. But for safety purposes I will be using bolts to anchor this to the platform I'll be building later this month. Many years down the road when it's time to move I'll probably just patch over the holes I make for anchoring this down anyways.

Bumper plates. But those are usually more expensive and I use rubber floor tiles instead.

u/dirthawker0 · 5 pointsr/birdsofprey

Carpet may be inexpensive but IMO it has got to be the worst material for lining bird cages.

It may be on the pricey side but I would look into ordering puzzle mat. This one I linked to is about .80/sf and there are smaller packages (24sf) for not much more. I've used this for years for my hawks -- it pressure washes clean extremely fast and talons will not get dull from landing on it. They last a good long time as well.

There is a liquid called Poop-off which seems to be pretty good for breaking down raptor feces. But it too is pretty expensive at ~$40/gal.

I live out in the suburbs now, but we lived in NYC (UES) for years before we came out here. You can absolutely have it in an apartment. It is virtually SILENT. Especially with headphones. The dimensions of the bike are on the site, but think of it this way. I have [THIS] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001THTUAO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) mat to put it on. its 2.5"x5". That is really all the space you would need for it.

I bought my foam puzzle tiles at Walmart or maybe toysrus. Mine are really children's floor mat and have the ABCs on them. I put a towel over them because they are rainbows and I worry about color transfer.

I saw that knitpicks sales them under the title blocking mat. If you search "foam tile" on google, plots of things come up.

Not necessarily.

That's EVA foam and not real rubber. It's EVA foam with a thin rubber topping. Nice for a stretching area, not so great for a deadlift area.

You can get the same thing something similar for $1.17/sq. ft on Amazon, versus the $4/sq. ft on that site.

u/RightTrash · 3 pointsr/Narcolepsy

Learn to be comfortable with the Cataplexy, as fighting or resisting it, both physically and/or mentally, will amplify and intensify the episode. That doesn't mean you can prevent the Cataplexy but you can be more prepared for it (as fearing it only plays directly into it being worse) and this can dissipate the longevity, or intensity of it.

I'll get to the ground ASAP when I feel a strong, or as I think of it moderate, episode of C hit, sometimes it's like an awkward collapse and other times it's no big deal. Once to the ground, I sprawl out so that I can relax 100% of my body, all muscles. During this, I basically meditate, I take my mind away from anything and everything going on around me, I focus only on my core, counting and breathing. Before I finally adjusted and became comfortable with it, to it (which was over many years all while totally unaware of what N w/ C was), I'd fight and resist the C in all ways, it would appear like I was having a seizure, there'd also be much worse after effects along with susceptibility of more attacks.

Tips for at home, get some floor pads like these for most common or dangerous spots: https://www.amazon.com/ProSource-fs-1908-pzzl-Puzzle-Exercise-Interlocking/dp/B00B4IHXRU

Might want a medical bracelet with engraving telling people "Narcolepsy with Cataplexy 'Do Not Over-React' Give me a minute."

u/usedtodofamilylaw · 3 pointsr/kettlebell

I'm not going to pretend they're anywhere as nice as some of the other options in this thread, but I've been using the AmazonBasics mats in a condo and they've been totally fine, easy to store, and obviously cheap.

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Exercise-Foam-Interlocking-Tiles/dp/B0719B8HQZ/ref=sr_1_4?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1543340409&sr=1-4&keywords=amazon+basics+mat

u/btothefifth · 3 pointsr/homegym

Can someone critique my plan for creating a home gym:

I am going to get 3 of these mats and get 18 2'x4' pieces of plywood. I'll lay the plywood 2 pieces thick in this formation and put the mats on top. I'll place a power rack in this formation such that the entrance is facing to the right. This will be done in a room on the second floor of my house--will this be enough to dampen the impact of deadlifts (up to at least 400 lbs)?

u/kniting_bean · 3 pointsr/knitting

I really love this needle set from amazon for $30 as a beginner set. Then these mats to use for blocking also from amazon for about $20, depending on exactly which set you get, but it’s much less than the marketed blocking mats. Then some rust resistant T-pins from any basic craft store or Walmart. This should cover most of your basics!

u/Legendofgary · 3 pointsr/Vive

I use these
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K2TWXO0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I had to use 3 sets to cover a 10'x10' play area, but it works well and acts as a backup for chaperone since i can tell if i step off it.

u/PapsmearAuthority · 3 pointsr/Fitness

Obviously check craigslist for deals, but be careful. I'd get the rack new (I have the 'valor fitness bd-9', which is fine since I don't squat 350 lb). I got a good deal on used weights + bar, but I'd still echo other ppl's suggestion to get the bar new, especially if you want to do oly lifts and/or already lift a ton of weight. Works ok for me since I don't jerk/snatch any more, and my numbers aren't very high. If you do get a used bar, be super sure it's not bent even the tiniest bit. You probably also want mats, too, so don't forget that. Some ppl buy horse stable mats from farm supply stores or w/e for cheap, but you can also get something like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4IHXRU. When you DL, it'll eventually smash a super compressed rut into the mat, but you can rotate/swap the tiles when the happens if you're concerned. For weights, buy them used or on sale only. You may have to collect your weights over a longer period of time to get good deals. Make sure to weigh any weights you buy.

It'll still end up being pretty expensive, and depending on your area and the deals you find it might take 2 years to pay for itself. The real value is in the convenience and flexibility, which should let you work out more often in less time with any schedule.

FWIW, if I had space I would have gotten an actual cage, but those individual stands get the job done, at least at my modest weight (my garage barely fits the current equipment comfortably).

u/ccampbellsos · 3 pointsr/ketogains

My initial set up when I didn't want to spend a huge amount, but wanted the capability to do any major lift was as follows:

Bench and Rack

Barbell and weights

Plate Rack

Mats

Plate compatible dumbbells

I highly recommend buying a few extra plates if you plan to go heavier, I picked up 2 more 45's, 2 25's, 2 10's on top of what that set comes with. I was happy with it until I upgraded the rack and bench as my gym grew.

u/Biosnarf · 2 pointsr/wow

The foam is the interlocking tiles of puzzle piece looking foam you can get at most stores. If you have a harbor freight nearby, that's the cheapest place to get foam.

If you want to go with EVA, it would need some structural support so it isn't floppy. For that you could use 1/4" cpvc pipe and bend it into the shape with some heat (just be careful that the pvc doesn't burn and turn yellowish/black since it can release toxic fumes!). Another option could be something like plywood or aluminum cut into the shape with foam layers over top of that.

Carving it out of XPS foam is an option as well. It's the pink or blue insulation foam at hardware stores.

I hope that helps a bit

u/jackofff · 2 pointsr/rav4club

Glued some athletic flooring to the top of the plywood for a little more padding. Found this stuff on amazon: BalanceFrom Puzzle Exercise Mat... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013A4ASRW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Cut plywood to 38 inches x 73 inches. Fits pretty snug with the seats down and the front seats moved forward. The only disadvantage of the set up is that the front seats have to stay further forward than I usually would have them.

Originally I was going to build a 2x4 frame to prop up the bed near the trunk so everything stays level. This ended up turning into simply stacking some 2x4 pieces because I ran out of time before the trip. Honestly this worked just fine.

Then there’s a 2” mattress topper to help with comfort. This could have been thicker

Sorry for the delayed response. Let me know if I can answer anything else.

I've got concrete floors with a laminate tile on top. Super unfriendly for certain videos. It was almost a necessity to put down some mats. u/bismuth92 · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

They come in adult size! You can cover your whole floor with them. No fun colours, but you're looking for gym mats.

u/90Days_Lex · 2 pointsr/insanity

I've found that thicker exercise mats are better for two reasons: (1) they muffle noise better, which is because (2) they reduce more impact and save your knees a lot. There are several kinds of exercise mats, some that are yoga-mat thickness (which don't reduce impact as much, I didn't like mine for insanity at all because it just helps you grip the floor but not cushion jumps) and puzzle-mat thicker ones like this here that I've found help me a lot. I'm only 24 and fairly light (125lb female, 5'5") but my knees are awful so I've found those are the best for me.

I know a lot of people that do Insanity on carpet just fine (I have hardwood), so it's really what you're most comfortable with but especially for the noise factor I'd use something on the floor. :)

u/Dynasty_Warrior · 2 pointsr/radiocontrol

Save up and get a glr kit, I have modded one of my mini-z with kyosho upgrades for the same amount of money as a whole kit and it really doesn't compare, really a waste of money. The gl racing kits run just like 1:10 carbon fiber/aluminum pro cars. EDIT: Also, they run so fast that there is not much traction on regular floors, I got a 100 sq ft of these mats and use the rubber under side of the mats for a track. It is the same material as the tracks sold for very expensive at the Kyosho USA store. https://www.amazon.com/Floor-Tiles-Interlocking-Padding-Stalwart/dp/B01DAOOAV2/ref=sr_1_33?keywords=interlocking+foam+mats&qid=1562198193&s=gateway&sr=8-33

u/lileor · 2 pointsr/pelotoncycle

I didn't buy any accessories from Peloton directly since there was no offer at the time and the referral program was still the old version where both parties got 2 months free. If you use a referral code to get $100 off accessories, I would suggest to use it toward shoes ($125) and buy everything else you need elsewhere.

Bought Diadora and Shimano shoes for me and DH from UK cycling sites at substantial discounts that offered free shipping.

Got the mat and wireless earbuds from Amazon.
2.5 x 5' mat: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001THTUAO
Earbuds (I have an older version); I only use them on the bike so I didn't want to spend too much: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZZSQQTD

Also got a Mio Link HRM from Amazon that died within a few months, so I replaced it with the Scosche Rhythm+, which was recommended by many other riders.

I don't do arms while riding, so didn't buy weights.

u/MurkLurker · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

HERE
is an interesting solution on amazon. Foam tiles that fit like puzzle pieces. Not sure how well it would help fatigue, but when I get my Quest I might give these a try too.

edit: Some bad reviews there, so I'd likely research which brand to get instead, but I like the idea of picking up the matting and taking it other places in whatever configation I need.

u/pitchedblack · 2 pointsr/oculus

I've been using a set of foam mats, like these: https://www.amazon.ca/ProSource-Puzzle-Exercise-Interlocking-Tiles/dp/B00K2TWXD6

I probably would end up buying 2 if I did it again, but honestly the horse stall mats are probably going to work best. The tiles keep coming out when I do some aggressive lifts or HIIT. I'm yet to get a rack, but I'm certain I'll be getting a Titan 21.5" rack for my garage since I can put it back into the wall when not in use and can park my car.

Amazon Prime beats most retail stores, even Walmart and Home Depot. You're looking for anti-fatigue mats for about $20-25.

Another option that could work is foam board. It's cheap and light, but I would caution that some paints can dissolve it. 4ftx8ft piece is about $10. I once had a 6' prop scythe that was foam board with paper mache reinforcement that I could swing pretty forcefully. Not quite the same but a PVC skeleton could work just as well.

Ahh I can help with the armor definitely ^^ but as for the dye, just be VERY careful what kind your using, dye will fade given time, the longer you leave the outfit in dye, the darker it will be, this is ideal to making sure the color last and fades out correctly with time. When dying it I'd suggest using like a bucket from home depot to dye it uniformly and then hang it out to dry after its sat and absorbed for the time you deem needed (again longer is definitely better) if it's very sunny out when you go to dry it, it can lighten the color up, if you don't want that hang it over the shower. That can stain tile tho so that's the trade off. Be careful on that end.
As for armor the best movable bet I can make is foam. Having a heat gun and craft foam for quick light armor, if your more willing to work with a knife I'd suggest foam mats that I will link below, they make much more of a flair kind of statement, bigger and more durable but harder to work with to start. For attaching armor, I'd use Velcro. Don't glue anything on your body suit, it'll be hard to clean and it might be a one time thing if you do, if anything just hot glue the Velcro on to attack shoulder pads or knee pads and then have a strap on the item itself for more support after the fact. If you have anymore questions you need me for back and fourth real time things as your working my cosplay Instagram is @shoe_icky_sucky_hara :) hope this helps!!

I am sure this will be downvoted... But I've installed cheap as hell eva foam floor mat with nice results. Budget and time ruled the day for this... there would be no waiting for stuff to come in over the internet. Just a trip to Aldi where I'd seen these things on sale for $10. It worked pretty well considering it was just stuffing foam under carpet.

25% cld and then Noico foam pad , 50 mil mlv covering the entire floor will bring the noise floor down. Sealing doors is important and can be done with just mlv in a pinch, but plywood or plastic works best to fill the gaps in the sheet metal.

u/El_duderino_33 · 2 pointsr/oculus

Yeah I play most games seated these days. But when I do plan to stand for an extended period I use a anti-fatigue floor mat to let me know where I am (I usually turn Guardian off) and to keep my feet comfy.

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Exercise-Foam-Interlocking-Tiles/dp/B0719B8HQZ/ref=sxin_3_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-cHV6emxlIGZsb29yIG1hdA%3D%3D-ac_d_rm&crid=114KNJK5HMLO3&keywords=puzzle+floor+mat&pd_rd_i=B0719B8HQZ&pd_rd_r=73f09734-f5f7-4e20-9fd2-8923ab9d0fed&pd_rd_w=hi4Ze&pd_rd_wg=RlJ2j&pf_rd_p=983984df-2ad2-4c97-ba7f-4c5a90291c2b&pf_rd_r=3XCK2WRX379XAD97MHGT&psc=1&qid=1569773173&s=gateway&sprefix=puzzle+floor+%2Caps%2C150

Good god that's a long link... Anyway not that particular one, that's just an example, I shopped around for a set that was 1" thick instead of 1/2" like most of them listed on amazon. I have some 1/2 laying around that I already had and its ok but really thicker is more comfortable. Only problem is I get so worked up playing beat saber that sometime I start pulling the puzzle pieces apart, so maybe something that is one solid piece would really be better.

Ground cover. You're going to want to first clear your tent area of as much snow as possible, and stake down a tarp on which to put your tent. Ideally, I'd love to have some of this stuff to add another layer of insulation and to keep any moisture from leftover snow from seeping in.

Have multiple ways to create fire.

Being cold eats more calories. Plan on consuming more food.

I need to add some comfy floor mats. Like these or something. Standing on a concrete slab for hours is NOT fun.

Things I love about my shop:

  • LED Lighting everywhere (I went with 6 of these shop lights)
  • Small wood burning stove to get through the cold months in Minnesota. Burning scrap wood for heat is awesome and FREE! Protip: be careful and don’t burn your shop down.
  • Large 6' x 4' window directly in front of my bench lets in tons of natural light. This is kind of a sucky photo, but it’s all I have with me at the moment.

Edit: Great idea for a thread, btw!

I have pretty much a brand new weight bench with 40lb bar and weights totaling up to 185lbs (with bar weight added) that I want to sell, I'm just not using it. Had it about a year and might have used it 10 times at most. Only issue is with the pin that raises the bench up for incline presses, the dog chewed on the black ball part of it but it still works fine.

You can try these from Lowes. I can't vouch for them (yet), but I'll be putting them in a basement play room for my almost 2 year old son. They should be adequate for infrequent light workouts. Each package covers a 4'x4' space. For 10'x10' you will need 7 packages, which will set you back $140. Lowes coupons are pretty easy to find on ebay if you don't have any handy so you can probably knock another $10-$20 off.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Gray-Anti-Fatigue-Mat-Common-4-ft-x-4-ft-Actual-49-21-in-x-49-21-in/3111467

Sorry it's not an amazon product, but figured you may have a Lowes in your area. Home Depot has something that looks very similar for the same cost.

On Amazon I found these which are also $20 a pack, but they cover more square footage (24 sq ft vs 16 sq ft). So it will be cheaper for you. Reviews are pretty good, but I can't vouch for them.

For acrylic:

I lay it out on an ironing board and steam block with an iron. I usually just steam, holding the iron about an inch over the FO. Sometimes I put a damp towel over the FO and lightly touch the iron to the surface.

You could always do your knees and back a favor and just stick a mat in front of it. :)

Other than that, you've already linked to what my first suggestion was going to be. That's a really nice base made out of thick angle iron.

A local machine shop could make that in whatever dimensions you needed without too much trouble. You'd just need to provide the casters and a diagram/photo/schematic to work off of.

And as far as attaching it, I'd seriously go with bolting it on. I know some are designed to have the saw sit in the recessed part, with gravity alone holding it in, but I wouldn't trust it like that, personally.

Depending on the sealant and construction, I would not want to drip a puddle of sweat regularly on any type of hardwood. But not everyone perspires that much. Hardwoods also range in softness, so it's possible that a softer wood could be prone to impressions from shoes.

This is half the price of the Peloton mat if you don't want to use funds from a referral code for the mat: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001THTUAO. I bought from the showroom without knowing about codes and they gave me a $100 promotional credit, which I used towards Peloton shoes.

u/fuzzy_one · 1 pointr/cosplay

Sorry for your loss.

As this is for Halloween and not cosplay my answers will tend toward lower cost and easy, instead of a durable costume that will be worn repeatedly or entered into a cosplay contest..

  • Contact cement will hold EVA foam together, paint it on each side, let it dry then mash together. Follow instructions on what ever brand you buy.

  • paint can be as simple as hobby acrylic paint, brands like folk art or apple barrel in 2 oz squeeze bottles.

  • thickness of the foam is dependent on what part you are making and what the needs are. It can range as thin as a few millimeters that you can find in craft stores as craft foam up to thick sheets used as floor mats.

  • you can prep the foam surface for a smoother surface by using something modpodge or flexseal.

Note the links I provided was for amazon, but with some shopping about you should be able find most of the items cheaply in stores around. If you are in the US, hobby lobby, Michaels, and Walmart have the thinner foam and hobby paint. Thick foam can be found on sale at haborfreight, often for under 10 a pack. Coupons can always help.

I would consider cutting the thin foam into long strips and then painting them for the hair.

Don't worry about it. My OG Touch controllers are absolutely covered in paint marks like that from my walls, ceilings, etc. They still work perfectly fine.

If you want some tips for how to avoid that in the future though (even if the controllers don't get damaged, often your hands or other objects will) I'd suggest drawing a more conservative guardian boundary so you get warned earlier if you're close to it. Ideally you want it a full arm's length away from any obstacles so the pass-through mode will activate before you hit anything.

If you don't have enough room for a boundary that conservative, what works even better is a floor mat, like this: https://www.amazon.com/BalanceFrom-Puzzle-Exercise-Interlocking-Tiles/dp/B01IDRWPG8/ When you feel yourself step off the mat, you can remind yourself to stop and recenter yourself.

I don't know if you meat to ask this question to me since I didn't mention a mat but I would recommend this one from Amazon: Amazon Bike Mat. I purchased my mat from amazon (I think it was this one) when we had another bike before Peloton, I just kept it and used it since the Peloton mat was so expensive and this worked just fine. This one is a bit smaller than the Peloton one but it still works and I have plenty of room for the bike and some kettle bells. The Peloton mat is nothing special, just Peloton branded.

I also found this one from Walmart Bike Mat from Walmart, just not sure the quality of it or if it's as thick. It's also not free shipping unless you get over $35 or ship to store. This one seems a bit bigger than the Amazon one and more on par with the Peloton mat dimensions.

You can also get the weight from Amazon, colors will be a little funky, but much more economical than Peloton weights. You can get a set of 2#, 3#, and 5# weight for about $29... Amazon Dumbbell Set

It’s an inexpensive foam (not rubber) puzzle piece mat that I ordered off amazon . This is 3 sets shown.

It’s actually very warm to stand/lay on, even on the cold basement floor. If you leave weights on it (like overnight), it will leave an indentation, but it’s always popped back up. I’m happy with it so far, but it’s too early to give a proper review of its durability.

I’ll upgrade to a plywood platform with rubber mats once I’m in the new house and have a rack, but I’ll likely keep this for floor work (stretching, yoga, etc.).

u/iknowyourbutwhatami · 1 pointr/bodyweightfitness

Are there any suggestions for mats when doing bodyline drills?

I notice /u/Antranik often uses a yoga mat, and when I do them (especially side plank) on my carpet, or hardwood floor, my feet and hands can end up hurting quite a bit (yes, I'm bony :))

I focus a lot on proper form (since I'm a beginner and want to avoid bad habits), so I'm also considering it might be due to bad form, or just plain weakness since I'm significantly worse at side plank than the rest of the exercises (20s compared to 40-50s).

If it's not, I'm considering buying a foam mat, anyone who can recommend it?

u/Dorkuhsaurus_Rex · 1 pointr/camping

My brother ordered it from Amazon. We actually layered the back, the bottom layer is made out of a foam interlocking tile mat (one order comes with 6 tiles which didn't fill wall-to-wall, but 2 orders would've required cutting to size, which we still may end up doing) and the top layer is this

There are a lot of options on Amazon, ranging from children's playmats (which many people review as blocking mats!) to exercise mats. I bought this set because the Add-On price was great. So far, they have been performing great! For what it's worth, I don't even use a towel, and I have had no dyes transferring.

If you want to look at something else, many exercise foam mats pieces are all black like this. But many of these are textured.

Shoes- get them from peloton if you have a coupon, get a second pair from a bike shop or REI. My spouse got Shimano, which cater more to a wider food. Pearls are a bit more narrow. Bontrager are somewhere in the middle.

Why not look into getting something like: Foam Interlocking Tiles. I think they are much more dense than mats which are designed to be rolled up and carried around. But if you are just using it at home, it might be more comfortable than a yoga or pilates mat. Or look at gym/fitness mats.

Unless you are really forceful on the mats during some movements like "burpees, mountain climbers, V-push-ups" (from an Amazon question) they should stay together. You can even lay your current yoga mat on top of this if you want, I guess.

According to some reviews, they are not as squishy-soft as the stuff in kids' playrooms. You may be able to find it in a fitness/sports store like Sports Chalet or Big 5 if you want to see in person.

You can however get even thicker ones such as 2" or even 3". Good luck!

It would be fine as I doubt the interior of any enclosure would exceed 60c.

However for a much cleaner and more effective solution check out EVA floor tiles. They are usually 2ft x 2ft. 6 tiles make a cube for $16-20 total. They insulate temperature and sound very well. Here's an example https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DAOOAV2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1504325990&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=eva+foam+floor+tiles&dpPl=1&dpID=61PSlC1Ef4L&ref=plSrch

Ok, so if you don't think you can eyeball it, that's perfectly fine. Your going to have to make a top view of Whisper and after you finish cutting out the side view of it, put the top view blueprint where it should be, trace major lines onto the foam, then cut roughly, sand it and make adjustments as needed. You can do this man, and don't be afraid to fuck up, it's your first time doing this, plus if you buy this kind of EVA foam then your fine cuz it's super cheap and u get shitloads for like 20 bucks.
Edit: I used a 3D model of ingame thresh to make my blueprints accurate, so you could use a site like this to get a top view of the gun ( don't do this on mobile)

I over estimated most of the prices, but these are things I figured I would need in a home gym if I ever build one. If you take out a few, you can make it fit your budget.

Hey guys, thank you both for your suggestions! Decided to go with the gym mat one, and this arrived today:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GNLKZ28/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(I had found a shorter one- the longer size was for being able to have some mat between two adjacent desks.)
It had a couple spots of damage upon arrival, but for the price, and the spots where they are, I think I'll tolerate it/not do the return.
Anyway, it's working like a charm, no more unintentional rolling! I can't just push easily and roll, of course, I have to get up a little bit and push to move away, but it's very worth it so far.
Edit: line breaks

So haven't yet figured out shoes for myself, but here's everything else I have lined up:

Wipes (cheaper than the bulk stuff? bad to use scented?): http://amzn.com/B00Q70RCW6
Mat (found multiple threads here where people referenced this one): http://amzn.com/B00GNLKZ28
Weights (colors aren't great, but variety for price seems worth it): http://amzn.com/B0727Q5F94

I recommend something thicker and heavier than the baby mat.

A floor mat in VR serves two distinct purposes. One as a guide for your feet to help let you know when you are stepping near your boundaries and the other, just as important, to provide padding when kneeling down and generally for standing and moving around for long periods of time without necessarily having to wear comfortable athletic shoes.

You mat ought to be of course smaller than your actual play area so you sense when you are stepping near the limits of your boundaries before you slam your controller into a wall or a monitor. If the mat fills your entire open floor space then you lose that benefit as by the time you reach the edge it's too late.

I suggest 1" thick MMA floor tiles as they are intended for a lot of comfort and physical activity like gymnastics and martial arts and won't slide around. If a mat material is thin enough that it could be rolled or folded up I don't think it would provide a great deal of comfort and support.

Also Vive-n-Chill is awesome too.
