I've purchased a "battery strap" off of Amazon just for added safety.

For those wondering I used a mavic 2 zoom to take the photo

u/jb1830 · 3 pointsr/Filmmakers

You can find a DJI Ronin that does all the same stabilizing for almost half the price.

Here is my tool Box that I purchased to hold everything. --Pics of my setup, below is every individual item. Scroll Down to look at everything http://imgur.com/a/nXkHq

Here is the case I purchased for the mavic and its controller. This case fits nicely in the tool box. https://www.amazon.com/Philonext-Foldable-Controller-Transmitter-Hardshell/dp/B06XDQJD7C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504231058&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=Mavic+Pro+Case+Controller+Case&psc=1
I had one of these, it works awesome. It holds ALL cables, Chargers, AND batteries. Also fits nicely in the tool box. https://www.amazon.com/BUBM-Electronic-Accessories-Organizer-Earphone/dp/B071JNSNSQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504231157&sr=1-4&keywords=wire+organizer+Bag+BUBM
I must explain everything I keep in the case in case you are wondering what that weird thing is.
Tablet Holder for Controller https://www.amazon.com/SKYREAT-Upgraded-Tablet-Bracket-Controller/dp/B01N5KIXG9/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504231262&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=Mavic+Pro+Tablet+Holder&psc=1
Landing pad -- Not needed, but I love it. It keeps my mavic off the dirt/ground. It also helps the go home feature by having something identifiable by the drone, so it knows where to land. https://www.amazon.com/landing-Quadcopter-Helicopter-compatible-Fast-Fold/dp/B06XFVG132/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504231302&sr=1-4&keywords=Mavic+Pro+Landing+Pad
BTW, Be careful on the filters you choose if you want filters. The filters that I purchased the first go around were to thick and caused gimbal failures. I then purchased these from a suggestion from a reddit user and it works like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WW7YW5G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I DID purchase a range extender, and sun shade, but I shouldn't have. There are a LOT of tall trees where I live... So the range did not improve with this product. IF you live in an area like the desert or lots of farm land, I think this product would work ok. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M9KZQZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The gimbal lock and cover was a little stupid, being in two pieces and all, so I purchased this which works great. https://www.amazon.com/CrazyOwl-Mavic-Gimbal-Camera-Protector/dp/B0751BTHDB/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1504231622&sr=8-4&keywords=Mavic+Gimbal+Lock+and+Cover

Hi,

I have both accessories, and since both clip on in a similar way, I can confirm you will not be able to get the battery retainer in as well as the landing legs. Both accessories go around the same spot on the back arms of the drone.

Here's what I have:

Battery strap: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076WZVM89/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Landing legs: https://www.amazon.com/Drone-Fans-Extender-Stabilizers-Protector/dp/B0742CT3C1/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=dji+spark+landing&qid=1564443322&s=electronics&sr=1-17

You can either get a different set of landing legs that don't clip on like these, or you will need to choose using either the battery strap or the legs at a time.

u/slowtreme · 2 pointsr/DJISpark

The problem is the battery. The latch wears out. There is strap you can get on amazon for about 8 bucks that will provide some safety. it’s kind of a design problem.

For indoor photos, you'd do better with a traditional camera I'd think. The camera has to be kept small and light, so I can't imagine it's going to out do much. Even a phone? IDK

There are mounts that let you hand hold the Mavic to use indoors, but they are designed for video. They take advantage of the gimbal to stabilize the camera and get you smooth video. Still shots are probably best with a standard camera /tripod.

You might want to buy a battery clip - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076WZVM89/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - as the batteries tend to come loose with age/use. My neighbor's did, and it dropped into the lake (luckily shallow enough he could retreive it). I always fly with the battery clipped in now!

PS: Neighbor was able to restore his waterlogged drone by shoving it in a bag of rice for three days - it flew!

u/ogkoreanjesus · 2 pointsr/dji

No, it won’t.

You’d need to purchase something like this.

The mini fits just barely. I have a mount that I use that attaches to the remote and it takes a regular iPad and a mini. I switch between the two
this

u/ionouono · 2 pointsr/djimavic

There's an alternative to MavMount that's considerably cheaper and just as good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N7RFDBA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Been using it for about a month now and it has worked really well and seems to be built to last.

/u/tnorcal - if you have the budget, I recommend the [$2935 Inspire 2] (https://www.amazon.com/DJI-Professional-Inspire-Filmmakers-CP-BX-000166/dp/B01MY2YDW9//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20) with a [$1399 5.2K RAW X5S] (https://www.amazon.com/DJI-Zenmuse-20-8MP-Camera-without/dp/B01MQQMXTE//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20).

I would suggest getting an Osmo handle with it but, sadly, DJI hasn't released an Osmo designed for the X5S.

That said, you would also have to buy a dual system sound setup for interviews and narrative.

With the X5S, you can produce images like these at 5.2K:

  • [The Circle: A Short Film Shot Entirely on the Inspire 2 by Sheldon Schwartz and Claudio Miranda A.S.C.] (https://youtu.be/4TbmxBAOvu8) (Rendered on YouTube at 2160p)

  • [Siwa - A Paradise in the Western Desert (Shot in 5.2k) by Nader Makram] (https://vimeo.com/212114694) (Rendered on Vimeo at 4K)

  • [Inspire 2 X5S CinemaDNG 5.2K footage by Blackburrow Creative] (https://youtu.be/fZSrL4LvGD8) (Rendered on YouTube at 2160p)

Amazing camera for $1399. There isn't another camera in this price range that can shoot 5.2K CinemaDNG RAW - and plug seamlessly into a copter.

Hope this is helpful and good luck with your decision!

u/Hackerwithalacker · 2 pointsr/sarasota

Here I'll get you the part list you want. Should cost around 300-350 dollars. Wait you have a pixhawk? That's a very good controller, you'll be great with that but you have to learn how to use the ardupilot ground station. Your best bet is to build a helicopter and you're not going to have much luck getting a good gimbal to hold a large camera, a good idea is to get a GoPro gimbal and use fpv with that, or get a 250$ moy alexmos 3 axis gimbal on eBay.

I've used the follow focus setup on an A7iii and BMPCC4K with manually focusing lenses and haven't had any issues with controller input or precision. I know there are always exceptions in terms of quality, but I personally haven't had an issue with it. If you're wanting to control focus on a mechanical focus lens, or you just want to have control over a lens manually it's one of your only choices, the Tilta Nucelus Nano being another one in a similar price range.

I've personally got a few smallrig cheesplate bits on mine to screw on a light or monitor, mic, etc if need be, and I picked up the super versatile Zhiyun single handle and a carbon fiber 14 inch extension rod for doing jib and low shots.

I would strongly suggest buying a battery strap too. The Spark has a defect whereby in some cases the battery will pop out mid flight. I know, because it happened to me. DJI hasn’t officially acknowledged the defect but there stories of other Spark owners having this same problem.

I use a Samsung Tab A 7 with a 256GB micro SD card in it and a $20 hood off Amazon to help with the sun. All in was under $200 and since I only use the tablet for my mavic air don't care it's not the fastest one available or on latest version of Android.

Works perfectly fine with DJI Go 4 app and provides a larger screen than my phone did.

Don't forget you'll need a tablet holder also. This is the one I use. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071RK5FYY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Rk-wDbCVDYP44

I think the Parrot Bebop is the best choice if you just to play around with drone and take videos, The Parrot Bebop is one of the more technologically advanced drones for sale right now. It’s the AR Drone’s smaller, smarter, faster.

Also, you can save 29% of money if you buy it right now.
