We have the Roborock S5 vacuum off of Amazon.

It's quite pricey and not everyone can justify for an expensive vacuum cleaner, but this model is quite smart and is considerably cheaper than the mainstream brand (the equivalent costs about $800 or more if I'm not mistaken).

I used to have the cheaper robot vacuum and it wasn't very "smart". It'd bump into everything, get stuck and had a hard a hard time navigating back "home" (charging dock) to recharge.

I had my doubts on this new one we just got because of our past experience but we liked the fact that the floor was so clean every day and pretty smart. We have tile floors. You know that feeling when you're walking around barefoot and you just stepped on something dry or the bottom of your feet just feels dusty or crumbly? Yeah, no more of that! (We used to vacuum only on weekends)

Before I talk endlessly about the joys of owning a robot vacuum, I'll stop here :P Let me know if you have any questions though. We've owned this for more than a month now and it's been running every day for about 45 minutes, cleaning our whole one floor house. We also have a cat and it picks up cat hair just fine.

Robot Vacuums. They're life changing. The cheap-ish $150-$200 models don't even perform significantly worse.

I recently bought this one, and while It's got some issues that prevent it from being a 5-star gadget, it's still pretty great. It fits under my couch and usually finds its way home, but it seems to be in a deep sleep when it's scheduled to start cleaning, so I have to trigger it manually. Most robovac reviews focus on the strength of any given vacuum, which is a factor, but less so than for an upright or canister because it runs every day. I think you can probably shop around and find a better deal on it if you order from China.

I'm still running a couple of Neato XV-21s as well, and really like it, powerful suction, a backlit screen and better scheduling than the one above. Neato robotics has excellent customer support, too. They replaced a battery on a refurbished, just-out-of-warranty XV-21 at no cost to me.

A few caveats: neither type handles rug fringe well, and corners stay dirty where neither robot can reach, and floor edges stay dirty with the XV-21, but that should be fixed in newer, more expensive models with rotary side brushes. They both tend to wind long hair around the beater brush and need to be manually cleaned. Still, they pay for themselves in man-hours saved from floor cleaning.

tl;dr: I'm apparently a robot vacuum enthusiast. Who knew?

I have one and so far it has been amazing, it cleans thoroughly and has zero issues. The dust bin is always full when I empty it after the occasional cleaning, meaning it does its job really well. However, the company also does Facebook giveaways and promos - I got mine for $350 because of a discount code that I won by participating in a promo. For value AND efficiency, I really can't recommend this enough. But, do your own research as well - this is a big purchase. Don't just go with a Roomba because it's popular - the wirecutter article and comments, especially, are a good place to start reading.

The biggest home convenience thing i have ever bought is a robot vacuum cleaner. I have an ECOVACS DEEBOT N79S and a 500 model and they are both fucking fantastic.

The one i linked is $200 but you can usually find a 20% coupon every few months. It is set and forget you plug it in, schedule a cleaning time on your phone and it vacuums while you are at work. My parents in their 60s have my N79s nowadays since the remote has a lot more function and they love it. It can fit under the couch and bed so they dont have to worry about moving stuff to vacuum and it runs automatically so they dont need to touch anything unless they want it to run on a non scheduled day. After about a year i only had to thing jam up 2 times both times to plastic bags i left on the floor.

Both the N79s and 500 model have App controls so you can turn it on when you at work if you left a mess when you were leaving or if you just want to come home to a clean house.

Tip for when you connect it to your phone, it will only work on 2.4Ghz wifi during setup so walk to the edge of your wifi range to drop your phone into 2.4. The rest of the time it responds fine to a 5Ghz its just the setup where it sucks.

Mine's an iRobot 630 and it gets the job done nicely.

The iLife A4 is by far the best bang for the buck. I have two for less than the price of others l, and it works fantastic. Most of my friends and family now own the same model after witnessing mine perform. Random pattern clean, but it rarely struggles to get back to base and has a max clean mode that is not loud at all - with great suction. We have pets, and this thing is always full of small hair particles. It generally goes over the same spot numerous times, which results in a deeper clean.

A Roomba! I have two cats and my husband and I both work... fur everywhere. I have always wanted a Roomba, but, it's not super necessary. I'd rather have the second-most expensive item on my list, the Harry Potter boxed set, because I don't own all the books (!!)!(!)!(!) despite being the biggest fan there is, and the ones I do own are kind of thrashed. Shark has a larger debris cartridge, 2 edge spinners ( roomba has one ) and seems to clean better since it bounces around more and doesnt move in straightlines like the roomba. Newer Shark ION has shit reviews so stick to the older one.

This might be a bit odd but I recently picked up one of these, ILIFE A4.

I dreaded the every other week vacuuming/cleaning schedule. Since I got this thing I rarely need to vacuum anymore, just two small carpeted areas. I swear this thing finds dirt I never knew I had.

Side effect is it's reduced the amount of dust in the house so dusting isn't needed as often and it's actually motivated me to keep other areas clean since this little thing does all the heavy lifting. It also "polishes" the floor a bit so not only are they clean but have a nice shine to them.

It really only works on very low knit carpet and wood/tile floors. It will clean two of my four carpets and both tile and wood floors every time it runs, and I run it daily.

Note: Do some research if you decide to get one, they can be found for $160 to $170 USD.

As far as cooking, I'm there with you. I used to cook all the time I just don't have the motivation anymore. I started to make my own pizza dough and that has been a help as I'm constantly trying to make it better and come up with new topping ideas. I made a Jerk Chicken and Smoked Brisket one a few weekends ago at a friends party.

If fur collecting on furniture is the major problem, I'd start with a hand-held vacuum, lint roller, or something like the Fur-Zoff.

I caved and bought both a robotic vacuum (a knock-off Roomba that works great) and the Fur-Zoff. The robot gets the fur off the floor and a couple of times a week I run the Fur-Zoff over the couch, couch cushions, and pretty much anything else made of fabric that might collect fur. It's kind of awesome to watch how it collects hair that I can't even see (e.g., black fur on a gray couch). So far, so good!

I'm in the market for a roomba or something similar. This is the first I've heard about the Braava Jet, but I haven't done a ton of research. I saw one on Amazon for $240 (the 380t model).

We've got dogs that shed, our main floor where this would be used is tile and hardwood (except two bedrooms that are carpeted, remaining bedrooms / rooms are hardwood).

What would you suggest for someone looking to clean up the dog hair and would prefer something that could do a "mid-week" mopping? (I'm expecting that I'll still have to mop the tile by hand once a week, unless they're that good).

NOTE: I'd rather get something that works great on the hardwood / tile, even if it means skipping the two carpeted rooms.

We have a robot that picks up dog hair (on solid floors) pretty well. We didn't get a "name brand" so maybe that's why? We did a lot of research into ours specifically for pet hair. It's an Ecovacs if you're interested. My 1 year old is deathly afraid of our robot though.

For Valentine's day I asked my boyfriend for a robot vacuum instead of flowers. I know last year he spent over $100 for one of those elaborate arrangements, and I was able to convince him that a robot vacuum would give me pleasure and happiness every day instead of flowers that will die in a week. I did a bunch of research and we got an ILIFE vacuum, which was only $180 on amazon. Totally affordable, you should look into it. An $800 name brand Roomba might be better if you have carpet, but this guy works wonders on hardwood. I am not a shill. Just a happy girl with a big, shedding dog and now constantly clean floors.

If it's the Mint (old name)/Ibraava robotic vacuum that shows using Swiffer cloths or fabric ones, they're now made by iRobot. There are different models, one you can run a wet cloth using it.

I LOVE mine, it's much better for me for pet hair and easy maintenance. I used Roombas since they first came out and switched to Mint before iRobot took over.

I have the DEEBOT N79S and it works perfectly. I never have to sweep anymore unless I track in a whole lot of mud which is very rare. I also have 4 dogs and it takes care of the pet hair with ease. I did a ton of research before buying this one and it has turned out to be a great buy! They are usually $300 but I just looked and they are on sale on amazon for $230 right now. Aside from all the suggestions that have been made, two more: a robot vacuum and if you have hard floors, an electric mop.

I'm in TX. We have six dogs (mostly pits) who are indoor-outdoor at will. Their yard is half a fenced, wooded acre. From the beginning of October to the middle of January it rained torrents every other day. Onto clay that is well beyond absorbing more water. We're at the top of a hill and there are still ponds of water. And the amount of (thankfully, gray not red) clay six active dogs will bring into the house in a day....well, I think it topped out at about 2 cups. They'd come in with virtual platform shoes of clay on their feet. And the dust..OMG the dust. As fine as photocopier toner.

Especially as I'm what the Brits call "house proud" (and former OCD cleaner), I was about at my wits' end until I bought the two aforementioned gadgets. The deebot runs 4x a day, and I now only mop every 3-4 days.

It's like I got my house back. Now the dogs are nothing but fun for me.

Note that the mop (which I got in cordless form, new on ebay for $125) is not a steam mop; instead, it squirts cleaner on the floor and then immediately vacuums it up, like a carpet cleaner does. Best thing since wi-fi, I swear.

You can also get velcro belly-bands for males who mark, and having raised a foster litter of pups, I strongly recommend Odoban. Only thing I know that actually gets the stink out of absolutely everything.

For my 600 sq ft apartment, I ordered the Xiaomi Gen 1 vacuum for $250 new on eBay from overseas. It can be hard to find a seller pop up for that price and I also have a dog.

If you don't care about the laser mapping and advanced features, the Deebot N79S (around $220, smartphone control) or the new Eufy 11s (physical remote, normally $220 but on sale for $187 on Amazon) are very solid options. Eufy 11s does let you schedule with the remote but it's also slimmer and more powerful than the N79.

Had a Xiaomi for a couple of years now, love it, never bumps into anything uses a precise pattern to clean.

There is a model for households with pets, which I think works pretty well. My cat has long silky hairs and a dense down-like undercoat, my dog has a brisk, stiff coat and I have long, thick, wavy hair. The Roomba gets everything.

Regarding the Shark robot vacuum. It seems to have all the standard features you'd expect. I like that it's a little bit lighter at 5.5 pounds (less likely to knock stuff over) and I also like what appears to be a pretty heavy duty brush roll. The brush roll on several models I've tested so far have been underwhelming. The Shark Ion has pretty solid reviews in Amazon, though I'm a little concerned about their review meta score https://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B075JRB2Z9 Despite the "warning" grade, they still hold steady at 4.5 stars.

At $291 on Amazon that's a pretty solid price.

I may end up buying one of these on Black Friday and adding it to my testing queue. If so, I can try to get that review done sooner.

I have a Roomba 650 and this aftermarket wifi cover and really enjoy it. Home Assistant integrates with Thinking Cleaner perfectly, and its Alexa support enables "Hey Alexa, turn on the roomba." Saying that still feels magical every time.

I found the reviews on Amazon for the models sold on Amazon to be persuasive. For eg.

Roombas are generally considered the best cleaning robots out there, followed closely by Neatos. I'd recommend the Roomba 650. It has all of the useful features with none of the fluff.

Most cleaning robots have the features you've specified, and they'll clean well on hard floors. The Roomba has virtual walls, it has dirt detection and will hover over a spot that's particularly dirty. It returns to its dock and charges itself automatically.

The main problem you're going to run into is that you're cleaning a huge space. I've seen people say that a Roomba will clean up to ~185 square meters, so your showroom is much, much bigger than that. You don't want your Roomba to die stranded in the middle of the showroom floor. You'd need probably three or four robots, each set up to handle a different section, blocking them off using virtual walls.

I split the cost with my roomie so we ended up only paying $190 each.

We decided to splurge because our stand up vacuum died.

i didn't buy a brand-name roomba - i bought an "ILIFE" brand wet-dry. It has been quieter and just as good as the roomba i previously owned. it was MUCH more affordable than what you are considering, even after the primeday discount. Just something to consider. this is the model I bought.

I seriously scaled up to the iRobot Bravva. It's not a scrubber like the Scooba, so it's not as expensive. It does a better job than I do with a swiffer.

It's still spendy, but it was a great investment. All of my rooms are laminate and tile, except one room with carpet. It's really quiet and does a great job. We named him Mr. Sparkle. hehe.

I also have a Roomba, which was another great investment. They run overnight while we're all asleep. As a disabled lady, these are my favorite tools. ;)

How about a Roomba? Schedule it to vacuum your floors while you are work and keep the pet hair down. It's also fun to watch how the pets react. For example, one of my dogs likes to chase it around and bark at it.

Alright, I haven't tested out a whole lot of headphones. Really not many at all. That being said, it is tough to do research, but I feel as though I've done quite a bit and found a very good 'bang for your buck' setup.

I have the Monoprice M1060, the Schiit Modi, and the Schiit Vali.

If you will be bringing this around with you, I would change the Vali with the Magni. You might also want to change those open back headphones for their closed counterpart.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Monoprice, but the jist of their brand is that they copy designs that other companies make. Here is a 'Roomba' that they make. It looks and works exactly the same as a Roomba, but costs less. Here is a 'Dyson' that they make. Once again, it looks the same and probably works the same, for a fraction of the price. Here is a 3D printer that is just a replica (rebadged?) Malyan M300 (which retails at $200 I think).

Anyways, they just make the same stuff as other brands, but cheaper.

Now, look at the M1060 from Monoprice, and look at the Audeze LCD 2. It is very clear to me that Monoprice ripped off that design, but made it for $250 instead of $1000.

Here is a comparison of the two on head-fi. I'll grab a few quotes from the review in case you don't want to read it. It was the first link that showed up on google when I searched "m1060 vs lcd 2".

I'm watching it now, so I'll just grab some quotes from the video so you don't have to do it. (They won't be word for word unless they have "quotes" around them.)

Anyways, the fact that he even made this video makes me think that he thinks that they're close enough to be comparable. The fact that he doesn't think the LCDs (which are known for being very good headphones) aren't worth 3x the price is also very impressive for the M1060s.

Alright, so that's good enough in my opinion. I think you got the idea. I think that the M1060 or M1060c would be a very good headphone for the money.

Now, why did I get the Schiit stack? Well, I like the way it looks, especially with that tube. It actually matches the M1060s well, because he mentioned they were a bit thin, and I imagine the tube fills it out a bit more. But I'm not 100% certain.

I run it 3-4 a week most of the year and it helps dramatically with keeping the fur down. My house is mostly tile and it handles fur great there, on carpet it’s not as great and I need to run it more regularly. For the couple of weeks a year during a coat blow I have to run it twice a day to keep up with the fluff but it does a great job. Every time after I run it I have to empty the bin and clean the rollers, but they come easily out of it so it takes all of 5 minutes to do.

One warning I will give you though, do not run it when you are not home if there is even the slightest chance your dog will have an accident. I speak from experience and will say cleaning shit out of it and off the entire floor is not fun. Thank goodness I have tile floors.

I also have the Dyson hand vac, super handy. Mine is the cheaper/older model that doesn't have the stick/powerhead attachment, it's a hand-vac and that's it. It is awesome for crevice cleaning and sucking up cobwebs as you mentioned. I also use it to suck up dust piles after sweeping, rather than a dustpan.

I recently purchased a robot vacuum and I have to say it was one of the best investments ever. I got the Neato D7 which is currently on sale right now for over $200 off. I always thought he robot vacuums were just overpriced gimmicky tech gadgets, but it does an AMAZING job. With its ability to easily slide under chairs and other furniture, it honestly does a better job at vacuuming than I do.

I bought this Robotic Vacuum around Christmas last year and it was on sale for $180 and the thing has been awesome! I was very skeptical because I didn’t think it would work or get the whole house or for that matter pick up anything. I never have to worry about vacuuming and the thing just picks up everything. I have two cats and all hard flooring, on a single level. I bought a “cheap” robot vacuum and it has changed my life. It is a Ecovacs Deebot N79S; at the time it cost 300$ full price but I got it on sale for 150$ (during US Black Friday). It is designed for hard floors, a small place (my apartment is maybe 700sqft) and to deal with pet hair. It has a small hepa filter.

There are many similar models now of varying price ranges, that are designed for low floors and to deal with pet hair. I have to clear the floors before running it (pick up toys, small area rugs, etc.) and empty the capture bin after each use, but it’s amazing. Honestly it does a better job than I would with a push vacuum, because it gets under the bed and into small corners where the dust bunnies are. It has a few different modes, and can be run from a smart phone over wifi, but I haven’t really bothered with that. The best thing is I can start it up, and leave the house. I run mine 1-2 times a week.

If you want a standard vacuum, it’s important that it has a hepa filter to capture pet dander.

Also, as you’ve noticed sweeping is almost pointless - a Swiffer dry cloth mop is much better at actually clearing the pet hair from floors. You can make your own cloth mops, and they work pretty well if you are opposed to the disposable mops.

In my opinion, if you don't want to pay for the i7+ or s9+ line of Roomba, I would look at other brands. Unless you are trying to go super cheap, I don't see a point in spending money on a random navigation robot anymore, LIDAR/vision is the way to go.

Get yourself one of these bad boys and some duct tape. Now your also gonna want t long Ethernet cable dependent on the size of your house. Next make sure you get a POE access point such as this Unifi device. Now I think you know where I'm going with this, and you will NEED to up your macgyver skills. This has the added benefit of making sure the vacuum will always have a good wireless signal.

My wife and I got this Roomba for pets (that's important) as a wedding gift and to say it's life changing is an understatement. It does an amazing job in corners but as said elsewhere, it won't replace vacuuming. It will however make it feel as though you recently vacuumed and cut down the frequency that you vacuum by a ton. Just be sure to keep the tray empty (it fills up faster than you think) and you'll absolutely love it.

I got this one. Not a Roomba but it's a similar type device. It does a fantastic job on my carpet, better than the linoleum floor for some reason since reviewers were stating the opposite.

I have two of these. Bought the first one after Wirecutter told me to and bought the second because I was so impressed with the first. Every bit as good as any Roomba I've ever had, gets stuck less, and can be (crudely) controlled by Alexa.

Not sure about that model, but I do have a V5S from the same manufacturer and it has been great. I run it atleast 4 times a week and I have had it about 3 months, it's running like a champ. The only issue it has is for some reason if it gets close to the base it's almost like the base acts as an invisible wall.

Not the vac's fault, it's the crappy vanity that needs to go.

Prepare yourself for how full the trash bin will be after you run it. You just thought your floors were clean. lol
