Just Google “anti-slip rug pad” and there are a million of them out there. Most of them work to a degree, but you might have to try a few to figure out what works best for your rug. Mine are closest to one of the Amazon ones above.

A perfect chef's knife is the first place to start (that's my preference, the Wusthof Ikon Classic 8", $160). Go to a kitchen supply store, or even Bed Bath & Beyond, and test drive some steel - see how comfortable it is in your hand, how balanced it feels. If you want to save money for other things, you can't go wrong with the Victorionx Fibrox 8" chef's knife, at an extremely reasonable $40. The chef's knife is an impossibly versatile tool all on its own, but if you want a smaller knife for detailed work, grab a paring knife from whatever manufacturer you choose for your chef's.

A huge, heavy cutting board ($88). For most of my life, I went with the $20 3-packs of plastic OXO or other cutting boards, ranging from small to extremely small - nothing will slow down your cooking more than an inadequately sized cutting board. Things roll off, you pile up your chopped veg and run out of space, you feel constantly crowded, and you can never carve a whole chicken or roast. Buy a piece of non-slip material (usually used for carpets) ($9), place it under the cutting board when you use it, and it will never slip or slide around - more convenient and safe.

A Thermapen. Expensive - it's $100, but it's the fastest and most accurate kitchen thermometer money can buy. A less expensive alternative would be the Lavatools Javelin at $24 - not quite as good, but a damn sight better than any other digital food thermometer you'll get your hands on. This is essential for cooking any meat, deep frying, baking - it will change your game.

An All-Clad Sauté Pan ($129). Also expensive, but an absolute essential tool for everything from sautéing to braising to deep frying. Do not go cheap with your stainless - you can do cheaper than All-Clad, but even heating, comfort, and build quality are absolutely essential.

An inexpensive but awesome nonstick set($164 for 11 pcs). Alternately, you could get a very versatile 12" TFal Professional Total Nonstick, an impossibly stickless, oven safe, dishwasher safe wunderkind.

A 12" Cast Iron Skillet ($34). These are kind of a pain to take care of, but are invaluable for searing, baking, even serving. It'll last you a lifetime if you take care of it.

Yes, they cost more than a couple dabs of hot glue, but you buy them once and forget about it.

A anti-slip rug mat can help. But what really fixed it for me was a futon cover that had sewn-in straps that tied onto the futon frame -- I bought mine from the futon store.

I was looking for one recently and read a lot of reviews that synthetic ones can "melt" over time and fuck up your floor. So I got a natural rubber/jute one. It was pretty pricey compared to the cost of the rug, but the rug doesn't move at all now. It's a cloth rug on a linoleum floor.

As far as the puzzle mats go, the more you use, the better it gets tied together. I'm going to put down about 40 square feet of mats (if not more, having had some time to think about the configuration), and the more you've got the better it will weigh down. Not sure if these yoga folks are dropping down 10 square feet and having trouble, but if that's the case, that's where the antislip matting comes in -- and if it's 3 or 4 tiles, it certainly is not going to stay in place. I've used this type of antislip matting before, and it grips pretty well on carpet and wood. I'm hoping to avoid having buy it -- more money, you know?

I'd get any standard 4 x 6 rug that you like that fits your decor. My living room rug on carpet would always slip when the dogs ran around. I put that under it, and now even if I do a running start and jump on it, it won't budge.

You don't need a particular DDR mat. Get a rubber mat, like the one people put under rugs. It will be virtually impossible for your ddr pad to slip on this.

I'd suggest bringing some red into the space to tie in that counter top and the beautiful brick to make the space cohesive. You can do this with throws, accent pillows and rugs. I found your link through interior design and recommended this this couch possibly with a couple of these guys and some similar chairs. I really, really recommend keeping an eye on craigslist everyday if you're looking to save money and get an awesome look. I'm not sure where you're located but I just typed 'leather chair' into CL in my town, Chicago and got this sweet fucking chair for $100 I'd pair with a bold patterned rug similar to this or maybe this. Additionally this could work as a throw across the couch but I've also seem people put floor pads under blankets on carpeting and use them as rugs.

If you really like the industrial look you could add a minimalist industrial desk these are pretty inexpensive to make and are sexy as fuck, in fact I'm looking to build one myself and that link has plans included. I'd love to see something like that in your space wall under that tri-window in your first picture.

A rustic sideboard would look cool in that little notch behind the stairs you have.

If you keep searching you can find em in black. Just get a big one and cut it down to 3'x3'. This is your cheapest and best bet. If you knock a ship the base lifts and goes back to where it was, zero slip.

I have a large mousepad that everything sits on, but you might also look into some rug gripper. Another great option is to mount them to your chair with VESA mounts.

I dont use pedals any more, but i had a stone old saitek (?) one, for which i used these rubber mats, together with a bit scrap metal which i put on the pedals to make them heavier. (because these pedals were really lightweight)

Sounds like you've got a pretty good solution for now, but if in the future you want to try something else, have you considered just using the non-slip rug liner by itself? I used that on my tile hallways while my pup was recovering from knee surgery and it works great, doesn't slide and provides excellent grip. It's reasonably cheap as long as you don't have to cover too much square feet. You can buy a couple large sheets and cut them to whatever proportions you need.

I've never leveled a table but that sounds annoying at best.

If it were me, I'd get a much bigger rug and cut the thing so that the feet make direct contact with the floor and so that I could remove it entirely for cleaning, or whatever. I just made this drawing. The peach is the carpet, and the black line is the slit I'm talking about, with circles cut out for the feet. If you get a good rug pad it should stay in place where you make the slit on the side..

EDIT: Note about the rug pad, I'd cut it the same way as the rug, but I'd install it so that the slit in the rug pad but installed 180 degrees opposite. This way the slit in the rug would be on the solid side of the pad, and the slit in the pad would be on the solid side of the rug.

EDIT 2: You could also use a flexible glue and something very thin (like fabric) under the carpet so that the slit wouldn't come apart.

I'm a 6'3 and 190. I use a 80" XXW Jade Mat, which is awesome. Only thing is that they tell you not to leave it out in sunlight, so that could be an issue if you're doing it outside.

I don't know if the Manduka Pro mats are offered in any thing other than black, but another thing to think about is that black will absorb a lot of heat from the sun and could get uncomfortably hot.

As for damaging the mat, I think your main concern would be any lateral force you put on the mat. If you're pushing the mat forward, I could definitely see those rocks causing tears. I don't think you need anything too heavy-duty, just something in between the rough patio surface and the mat. What about a rug pad? I feel like it's just enough to separate the surfaces, relatively cheap and you can cut it to size.

I would not use that design unless you tape it to a larger tray where the cats can apply their mouth to when licking it up, that you can then clean up later. if you use that on the floor, the area around it is going to get pretty gross. the feeder i linked to has a similar problem that i solved with a 18x26x1" fiberglass tray most restaurant supply houses sell for $10 http://www.webstaurantstore.com/18-x-26-white-display-storage-tray/962WHP1826%20%20WHITE.html then use a few feet of no skid rug pad under the tray to keep it from shifting around during feeding. http://www.amazon.com//dp/B00IAVY52U you can probably find smaller pieces shipped on ebay.

Maybe try just regular rug backing like you can find at Target or similar - either just cut it to size and put it under your rug or stitch it on to your rug at the edges with needle & thread?

If you're looking for something for card games (like Magic), I have no advice to offer. However, if you're looking for something to keep your board games from sliding around the table, I find that anti-slip mats for area rugs work quite well, and come in a wide variety of sizes.

Just a thought, they sell this no-slip pad you can put under rugs to keep them from sliding around on wooden floors. It'll be less awkward than a towel, and probably more reliable. I don't think you'd need more than a small amount, so you shouldn't have to pay more than $5-$10.

This sort of thing works great. That's an Amazon link, for $25 worth of the stuff, but I've seen sheets of it for a buck at Dollar Tree.

I use it to keep tablecloths in place, to stop my cutting boards from sliding around on the countertops, to keep my kitchen table from sliding around on the tile floor, all sorts of stuff.

There's this stuff you can get for putting under rugs to keep it from sliding. I had a few feet left of it from the last time I needed it, so I just cut a rectangle to sit under my Satiek pedals.

I find that I use the same amount of space in Asylum that I do for Insanity, about 4' by 6' of space. It's hand weights or bands, and the pull up moves are modified if you don't feel like getting a bar. That's just my personal experience though! Best of luck with everything! You can just use the same anti-slip pads that go under rugs to prevent the tiles from sliding around, like this. Very easy.

You can also get little rubber mats to lay under a rug to prevent them from slipping. This was the first result I got on Google.

The south shore desk is a little taller than the file cabinets and I cut a piece of this type stuff to match the surface area of the old desk and just laid the counter on top. It's pretty heavy and takes some force to move.

These are probably those same cheap ones. We had the same problem with them sliding around but I was able to find a slip pad on Amazon for fairly cheap that works pretty well. They're still not great, but work well enough for this.

CCF and uninsulated inflatable is a very common combo for the budget minded. You get a lot of flexibility and robustness and it doesn't weigh too much either.

You could probably get away with one of those "rug gripper" thingies that you put down under a rug to keep it from sliding around, but also to protect the surface of the floor.

Once the table's on it, it probably won't move unless it's particularly low friction between the laminate and the floor.

I actually ordered a 3" gel topper because of the firmness (you sleep on top rather than sinking into it), but that proved to be too squishy (the topper leaves an imprint of your body when you roll). I have a 2" topper on another bed & imo that is the right level of squish vs. firmness: (the bed is firm to the point where my side wasn't sinking in & was kind of being compressed instead, like when you lay on thin carpet when watching TV or something)

Slightly better than the Amazon Basics sheets I have on another bed. I have a plastic bin underneath the bed for storing a spare set of sheets & waterproof sheet (both are washer/dryer-safe). Total comes up to under $600 shipped for a 12" memory foam bed, 2" gel topper, 18" metal bed frame, a non-skid pad for the frame, two sets of sheets, and two waterproof mattress sheets. I was going to get a Casper or Leesa, but those were like $800 just for the bed...I got all that for $200 less, still a pretty hefty investment, but a decent deal. Other than that, you just need some pillows & a duvet or blanket on the top.

The mattress comes vacuum-sealed in a box, so you just undo it from the packaging & let it air out for a day or two to fully decompress. The frame comes in a large but thin box (two frames folded in half with some assembly hardware). I didn't have to mooch a truck off a friend or go to a mattress store or anything...ordered it all off Amazon Prime, showed up in a couple days, put it all together by myself in minutes. Easy peasy. Would definitely order another one!

You need to have some sort of gripping surface on that. I get anxiety just thinking about the soap water and a very nice rig slipping from your hand and landing on the floor making a mess and a hazard. I suggest something like the stuff used to keep throw rugs from slipping on hardwood. Just big enough to go around the stem, the stuff has a big of tack so it should adhere to itself and not leave a residue.
