I like my Smith Optics OTW Fan goggles. They chew through batteries like crazy (pair of AAA rechargeable every couple hours on high) but they don't fog at all and are quiet. They don't fit quite right as I need asian fit and they don't have that, but they're good enough. They're my go-to right now. I find them comfortable enough to wear for a few hours at a time, they don't fog at all, and they're easy to clean and change the lenses. I've heard of people having issues with the straps breaking but I haven't had that issue. I also don't exactly stretch the straps as they're pretty huge and I don't use them over a helmet.

ESS NVGs worked well as well, but I did have some fogging. They also weren't too comfortable as they also weren't asian fit, but they have that option.

Revision Desert Locusts I've never used but I've heard good things. I've heard they're about as good as ESS, but they do have thermal lenses available to cut down on fogging.

You can find the ESS and Revison on Ebay as surplus for cheap.

For bang for your buck, the Pyramex I-force are awesome. Minimal fogging, very comfortable, comes with glasses and goggle straps. I keep a few pairs in my bag to lend to people. I've used them for probably a year now and loved them. I had one issue with cracking but I've heard that was because I washed them regularly with dish soap, and they got crushed in my suit case. Never had nor heard of issues with bbs cracking them.

Some I didn't like:

ESS Crossbow Suppressor with gasket. I had high hopes for these, and they did not live up to them. Very uncomfortable with the rubber seal (I prefer foam or cloth), fogged very easily, and they got condensation or sweat on the lens.

Save Phace Grunts. They might be the worst I've tried. They don't have an impact rating which made me nervous to start with. Pair that with the incredibly easy scratching, stupid fogging, and somehow ridiculous levels of dirt and I just can not recommend them at all.

Here's some pictures:

Smith Optics OTW w/ russian kit and with multicam

Save Phace (Showing off my lower face protection)

Pyramex I-force

ESS NVG with AOR1 kit. Those are some real old pics

Don't have any with the ESS Crossbows. Only had them for a few weeks before selling them.

About $6 on Amazon, I think they're about $4 in a box store, and free from some employers..

They look a little goofy in that picture but trust me, at a glance they look as fine as any other black wrap arounds. I own and use these several times a week. I can also confirm their ability to take a beating.

u/catfishbilly_ · 7 pointsr/Welding

Pipeliner welding hood

Tillman 850 welding gloves I highly recommend these gloves. The palm is unlined so you have plenty of dexterity to stick, mig, or tig with. The back is insulated to protect you from burning to a crisp.

Wrangler work shirts (get a few of them) I wear these shirts every day for work. Depending on your budget, you may not be able to get a few of these versus one decent welding jacket. If that's the case, I recommend a heavyweight denim jacket or the basic FR green welding jacket.

Safety glasses (get a few of these, as well as a dark pair for cutting)

Steel or composite toe work boots. I'm not going to recommend a pair... everyone is different. I do prefer Carolina boots and Thorogoods, though.

Ear plugs... can be bought at Lowes or any supply store.

That's your basic safety list. You won't need much more than that for school. Hopefully for you, they will provide tools. Otherwise this is a basic list for a welder's bucket:

2 crescent wrenches, 12" (or spud wrench)
Welpers
Chipping hammer
25' tape measure
Torpedo level
Combo or speed square
Vice grips
Channel locks
1 half round bastard file
1 flat file
2 wire brushes (one for carbon, one for stainless)
4.5" angle grinder (or 6" if you want)
Die grinder (optional)

This is, honestly, all you will ever need as a welder. If you end up with a job that does other mechanical shit, you will need more tools like a set of wrenches, ratchet and sockets, various clamps, etc.

I usually work for bigger contractors that will supply all the power tools and typically have a gang box of hand tools that supplies what I don't have or don't want to bring. When I go to work, I bring my 5 gallon bucket (for a seat mostly), and a canvas backpack. In the bucket is that list above. I put shit I need in the canvas bag if I'm going to be moving around between joints so I don't have to lug around a heavy bucket. At any given time there are only a few main tools in my bag. A chipping hammer, a wire brush, a file, a level, combo square, a 4lb hammer, flashlight, and my tungsten holder. It's all you will ever really need if you're just welding.

K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Stupid. Words to live by!

Gloves. Just your standard Nitrile gloves. I have a box in my closet with about 5 pair in my truck. Although with Texas summers here, I'd bet they've melted together by now. I should really check on that...

Safety Glasses Any brand will do. Just look for ANSI Z87.1. You'll probably never use them, or 90% of what's in your bag, but they're nice to have on hand.

Knife w/seat belt cutter & window punch. This is mine. I keep it on my trucks visor when I'm driving, and on me when I'm not. Cheap and useful. A little big though.

Simple Breathing mask. Always good to have around.

Gauze Rolls & Gauze Pads. I've used these a couple times, all on myself. I have the uncanny ability to fall when running outdoors. It's truly a gift.

Large SAM Splint. Surprisingly I've used two in only a year of building my kit. Once for myself, colles fracture from tripping, and the second time for a friend who slipped in my kitchen. We're not the most coordinated bunch.

And if you're feeling adventuress (sp?), Emergency Blanket, Cold Pack, & a Hot Pack. These aren't necessary, but nice to have if you have some extra $$$ to burn.

This is all i carry in my truck medical wise. It's also a good idea to have a flashlight on your vehicle or in the bag. Don't waste money on anything "fancy". You'll never use them and if you do you'll probably get sued.

I received a pre-stocked jump bag from a family member as a gift for getting my EMT cert. Came with OPA's, C-Collar, Adult/Pedi BVM, & a couple suture kits. These are no-no's. Good Samaritan laws won't protect you if you use these. DON'T BUY/USE THEM WHEN NOT ON A RIG! (The suture kits are another matter...just don't) I took these out of my bag completely.

TL;DR K.I.S.S. Avoid anything a non-EMS person couldn't use.

great advice here. here's what I use and recommend:

termidor:
https://smile.amazon.com/Termidor-SC-Termiticide-20-oz/dp/B015X6E0LU/

here's the skinny on termidor - it will basically kill any creepy crawly household pest. it is bad for birds, fish, and "aquatic invertebrates." only use outside, "spray along the foundation exterior perimenter to an area one foot up and one foot out from where the ground meets the foundation."

lawn and garden sprayer: https://smile.amazon.com/Chapin-20000-1-Gallon-Garden-Sprayer/dp/B000E28UQU/

and for safety, we'll need a respirator: https://smile.amazon.com/Safety-Works-817662-Pesticide-Respirator/dp/B0009XAIGY/

and goggles (don't listen to the simpsons, they actually do something!): https://smile.amazon.com/3M-Protection-Chemical-Splash-Impact/dp/B00467C7AE/

get yourself in some old clothes, spray twice a year, early spring and fall, and you'll be doing almost exactly what you pay the pest control company to do. total cost for above materials should be <115 + tax for something that should last for many years.

for additional info on termidor, please read the label (especially the section on safety!): http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/msds/Termidor%20Label.pdf

I’ve seen gaps in goggles all the time becuase the goggles don’t fit the head very well. I don’t thinks it’s good especially since a bbs almost hit your eye. I’ve never seen any gaps in a Dye mask or revision goggles. There is probably more but this is in my experience.

https://www.amazon.com/Revision-Military-Desert-Locust-Goggle/dp/B007HKPCMW

https://www.amazon.com/Dye-Precision-Thermal-Paintball-Goggle/dp/B002YHFMHS

Also the dye mask is the best thing I’ve ever bought in airsoft lol

I'm a googles man too, I feel they're more protective than normal safety glasses. But I when I can't use them Something like these are my go to. I usually use re usable rubbery ear plugs when outside, I double up with my lawn mowing ear muffs for an indoor range.

I've got a reversible balaclava, bright orange on one side and grey on the other. Army surplus trigger mittens are the best.

u/atomlib_com · 4 pointsr/JoeRogan

Why not just wear red glasses instead? These block blue lasers and blue light in general https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009T6RN0G/ Codeword Rogan. You cannot enter it on Amazon, so just repeat it out loud while purchasing stuff.

u/Livshaka · 4 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Oh btw, I believe Tria is the only true home laser device. The Costco stuff like remington and silk'n is IPL which I believe is less effective. Tria literally feels just like being at the laser office. I even got some eye protection for $12 though they say it's not needed.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009T6RN0G?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title

I got my Tria for $200 which is a steal. I saw deals on their site for $375 which I still think is a steal vs office laser.

Hopefully you've tried contacting your target to ask them about their collections, their uses, stuff they want, and stuff they wouldn't like. Feel free to drop as many Phone Booth references as possible. You should be able to get some ideas.

If you can't find anything specific, the stuff you've mentioned will never go amiss. Some other stuff I could think of:

  • Targets, be they paper, adhesive, or metal

  • Gun bags, belts, storage and transportation solutions, either generic or tailored to what you know of their collection

  • Magazines (specific to their gun and of legal capacity; you can never have too many)

  • Some ear or eye pro

  • Gift certificates or range memberships for businesses in their area

  • Action movies with gun porn (anything with a long-ass entry on IMFDB)

  • A nice coffee table book

  • Generic tools, like a pocket knife, multitool, or tacticool flashlight

  • If they're a gun-toting gamer, stalk their Steam/Xbox Live/Playstation accounts and pick out a game they'd like (reloaders will particularly enjoy Fallout New Vegas)

  • Beef jerky
u/funderbunk · 3 pointsr/steampunk

Here ya go - ArcOne "The Fly" should do you nicely! Amazon has them for a decent price, along with some reviews you might want to check out.

u/TallmanMike · 3 pointsr/guns

I use the Bollé Contour glasses, which are light, fairly stylish and impact-resistant safety glasses.

If you get ones with ESP lenses, they're very slightly amber tinted, which removes blue light from the spectrum and reduces eye fatigue when you're staring at targets for a while.

I wear these polarised ones as my daily sunnies.

So my plan was to do some sort of Soviet soldier in the 70s-80s era, but due to lack expertise in the precise gear a regular soldier would carry, this was the best I could do without having to completely indulge my time in finding that information.

Item|Price
-|-:
CYMA AK74| $185.00 $148 w/ 20% code "vghs"
Matrix 520r Flash-Mag | $15.00 $12.00 w/ 20% code "vghs"
Elite Force 0.25g 2700ct BB's | $7.80 $6.24 w/ 20% code "vghs"
NCStar AK Chest Rig (OD) | $22.31 $17.85 w/ 20% code "20offdaily"
Flora Camouflage | $55.00
SSH68 Helmet | $39.95
Russian Flora Helmet Cover | $15.00
ANSI rated shooting glasses | $5.77

TOTAL: $299.81 before shipping costs.

Wow, that was clutch. My original plan didn't include any sort of chest rig because the next best thing would cost $100+ so I threw in a generic chest rig. Also, the only sort of protection is shooting glasses, which aren't bad; just lacking in face protection. All in all, this was pretty enjoyable to create and I think you (OP) hit the sweet spot with the budget because I found it fairly challenging.

Get her a preclinic survival guide. Here is what you need:

  • Lighter
  • Panty Hose (nylon, not fishnet)
  • Vaseline
  • Cheap cool safety glasses
  • Super glue
  • Pack of Rubber bands
  • Base formers
  • Sandpaper

If I think of other things to add, I will add them on. All of these are things I wish I had in preclinic and are cheap, but necessary. She'll also be surprised at how they all come in handy.

As a biochem grad student that teaches these kinds of labs, you shouldn't get the goggles at the bookstore or home depot. Try something like this: Uvex Stealth Safety Goggles with Uvextreme Anti-Fog Coating (S39610C) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BQUTQS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xjwyDb3X917H0. MUCH safer to use and less pain in the ass. And if you're any type of science major, you should DEFINITELY get them. They are relatively cheap and safe. You can even replace the lens if you need.

In the oilfield, they often wear side shields to comply with the OSHA's safety glasses requirement.

u/Kotocade · 2 pointsr/polyphasic

Any that block ~400-530 nm will work perfectly. I believe I use these, though other less expensive sellers exist.

u/OwangeSquid · 2 pointsr/airsoft

I have fucking massive frames and they fit over mine. Decently comfortable as well. Here they are. They also make rx inserts for them which is what I am switching to next month instead of wearing my glasses underneath. If you don't want to do these just get a dye i4 as they work really well with glasses.

u/Jomaan · 2 pointsr/airsoft

When it comes to eyepro, I would definitely not take any chances. Get yourself something that's proven to be safe. I personally use these and would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat. I trust my eyes with them 100%.

u/kickstand · 2 pointsr/cycling

I don't see the point of spending $80, though. I use these safety glasses I got for five bucks on Amazon.

u/NinjaShira · 2 pointsr/answers

You can wear welding goggles to view the eclipse safely, and there are big chunky styles of welding goggles that will fit over most glasses.

u/vini_damiani · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Yeah. I've seem them a bit cheaper from Revision on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Revision-Military-Desert-Locust-Goggle/dp/B007HKPCMW

Not sure why they are cheaper. Probably don't have all the acessories like bag and different lenses

I heard some people saying they don't work with glasses, for me they are fine.

If they don't fit you can get some of those inserts for lenses https://www.amazon.com/Revision-Military-Prescription-Carrier-Connector/dp/B007FHG2F8

u/Oakroscoe · 2 pointsr/guns

What about a pair of side shields for your glasses. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Bouton-Slip-On-Sideshields-Flexible-99705/dp/B000RMJ368

u/ipa3245 · 2 pointsr/castiron

Seconding protective eye wear. Get something like this that has protection from the sides. Even if you're careful and move very slowly it can jump up and get you. Easily rinsed from your skin, but there's no reason to take a chance with your eyes.

u/Rojo424 · 2 pointsr/FRC

Have you tried the goggles that look like this? https://www.amazon.com/3M-91252-80024-Chemical-Splash-Impact/dp/B00467C7AE If it works for you a bunch of school science classrooms have them, if you're a school team. I'm 90% sure they're compliant but if they work for you it's good to make sure.

u/AlexanderNoys · 2 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

Safety glasses! Your eyes deserve them.

u/MentorB · 2 pointsr/FRC

Of the few we've tried, these are our team's most popular: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FA4RB12/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We've also used side shields, but we got dinged by a judge at one district for using the flimsy plastic ones: http://www.staples.com/Bouton-Slip-On-Side-Shield-Clear/product_560729

Now we offer these and they work well even on the glasses that have large "arms". However, they are very difficult to put on and take off. So I have students that use them for competition days only. http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/b-52.html

You're going to hear a LOT of different things. My advice is to read as much as possible. Don't just take one person's word as gold, because what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for everyone else. My opinion? $600 isn't enough to be competent and comfortable with a setup, if you're not already experienced with guns.

On a budget, here's what I'd do:

First, I'd go with 9mm. I'm a firearm enthusiast, and I primarily shoot 9mm. There are pros and cons to both, but to me, the single biggest benefit of 9mm comes down to affordability. I can buy twice as much 9mm as I can .45. Thus, I can shoot twice as much, and be far more prepared. 9mm won't hit quite as hard as .45, but it hits hard enough to kill. You'll be able to carry more 9mm than .45 ammo, you'll be more accurate (because there's less recoil from 9mm), and you'll be trained better before anything even happens.

So the bare minimum starter package for a gun owner (regardless of caliber) should include a firearm, ammunition, safety gear, and a cleaning kit. Forget about carrying, for the moment. Without those basic things, owning a firearm is completely pointless. Having a firearm in your home that lives in a drawer and can be used against home invasion is better than not having a firearm at all, even if you don't ever carry it outside of your home. And it's a good starting point. A dirty firearm doesn't fire. You must be able to maintain your firearm with regular cleaning, and oiling. A dirty firearm malfunctions. A rusty firearm malfunctions.

On a tight budget, I'd go with a Taurus Millennium G2. People on here love to bash Taurus as a brand, and maybe they deserve that bashing. But the Millennium G2 (that's 2nd generation of the Millennium) get great reviews. Look it up, read reviews of any firearm you're thinking about. Watch videos on Youtube. Don't just talk to people who have never handled that specific model, but do as much research as possible.

So, here's the list-

Taurus Millenium G2 - $209, free shipping. + $35 (average) FFL fees to get it from your local gun store.

Break Free CLP (cleans, lubes, and protects- all in one cleaning product) - $7.99, plus something to wipe the bore($10.97), plus some rags and an old toothbrush to clean the gun.

Disposable ear plugs. Not as good as over the ear, active noise cancelling, etc... but they're a start. $7.86

Shooting glasses. $7.19

This is a start, and it's half of your budget. The other $300 can be put toward something like a holster, a belt, ammo, and classes. I highly recommend classes. If you're not intimately familiar with firearms, they're basically a must. Even if you are, they're still a good thing. Even without classes, you'll still need a range, and ammo adds up. Defense ammo is going to run you ~$30/box, and I recommend shooting that at least occasionally, so that you know what it feels like to shoot (hint: it's different from 115 grain target ammo).

Then, shoot as much as possible.

u/thr0wawayth1ngs · 1 pointr/glasses

What kind of protection do you need, and why? If it's a work-related requirement that you have eye protection, consider a pair of side shields that go around the arms of your prescription sunglasses. You could also get a pair of safety goggles that will go over your sunglasses (there should even be a tinted lens option).

I'll get you something to tinker about until then, taken from the discord:

Circadian:

Your circadian rythm is set by blue light and food intake (also partly by temperature and physical activity); to keep it intact it's wise to keep a 6-8 (preferably 8) hour dark period (with only red light allowed, see !darkperiod) coinciding with an 8-12 hour fasting period. Both the dark period and the fasting should start 2h prior to the core. Not doing so has a major influence on your core's sleep quality, and leads to elevated risks of getting diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
If your core doesn't start 20-24 it is wise to have the dark period be slightly cooler than the rest of the day. In this case getting a daylight lamp to use outside of the dark period is also recommended.
Also try to limit physical activities during the dark period.

Darkperiod:

Melatonin is essential for entering SWS, however it's production is delayed by all light types except red. Because of this all non-red light types should be completly blocked off during the dark period, which should start 2h prior to the core (first core on DC schedules, night core on Triphasic) and continue for 6-8h (preferably 8h) after that. The reason it should continue even after your wake time (if you have a short core) is to ensure the stability of the circadian rhythm. Darkness is stil prefered over red light, so using night themes is the best option. The light blocking can be done by either wearing blue-green light blocking glasses or by using programs such as F.lux, sunsetscreen etc on a low kelvin setting (around 1000K). Having red lightbulbs is also an option.

Schedule line specifics
DC: if your cores are within 5h from eachother the dark period should cover the whole core gap.
E: if the first nap is relativly close to the core you should have the dark period extended until the end of it.
Triphasic: the gap between the night and dawn cores should be covered in the dark period

For why this is important, see !circadian

Nap-eat:

Eat a regular meal around 2-3h before a nap (digestion before sleep), or after a nap. Some light snacks are ok within 1-2h before nap.

I like these for the outdoor range. There's a clear version too, which is oddly more expensive.

Try laser safety glasses. orange isn't the only option, red works well (even better perhaps)

I love regular 3M clears. The shape is great at blocking the wind. It's all I use now. I have matching darks for daytime use. When not using a helmet I tie a bandana tight across the top of the glasses.

A little birdie told me they work fine at blocking the wind while riding a literbike at 150mph.

No problem dude! Since that’s a pretty good quality aeg I would recommend getting a Gas Pistol as a secondary and also a magazine holder vest to hold ammo and some good quality anti-fog goggles

Hope you enjoy the game!

Smith and Wesson always worked well for me. I prefer the wrap-around shop-style when shooting anything I'm even mildly concerned about. I've also got a bunch of this style in my range bag for loaners, along with some inexpensive ear pro, both of which will fit over prescription glasses.

You can also go for the dork gold with the goggle-style safety glasses, like this, which will help keep stuff from fogging and slipping around. Or, alternately, snowboard / skiing goggles. I'll confess to having rocked ski goggles and a ski mask during one particularly freeze-my-balls-off coyote hunt in the snow.

u/smargh · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

Everyone has already mentioned the usual stuff. I commute 6mi by bike on a £250 hybrid and it's fine. The main problem for you might be drying clothes before you need to use them again.

In winter I don't overheat at all. In summer it can get very sweaty. I can make do without shower facilities - winter I don't really sweat at all, and in summer I just shower before leaving. No pit bacteria = no smell.

In summer, if you wear a backpack, it will get uncomforabe quickly. Consider panniers - Ortlieb are very well regarded.

Keep an eye out on eBay for local 2nd hand bikes that you can use when yours is stolen, as it inevitably will be, unless you park it alongside more desirable bikes.

Also learn the modified Sheldon Brown lock method: one U-lock (Kryptonite New York, as short as is practical) between a solid immovable object + the frame + the rear wheel, and then a decent cable (or even another D-lock) going through the front wheel. I have my cable also going through the seat bracket, so people can't easily steal the seat.

For commuting in snow and heavy rain, you will eventually get annoyed with sandblasted eyeballs. For this, I recommend these cheap safety glasses: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007ADREL8 - Amazon was the cheapest when I bought my pair a few weeks ago. Bollé is a very well-regarded manufacturer of safety specs.

For tyres to use during snow and ice, I can recommend Schwalbe Marathon Winter. The "Ice Spiker" tyres are overkill, unless you live somewhere that might get massive snow drifts. I used Marathon Winters during the recent snowy & icy period and they were fantastic. Bonus: pedestrians always hear you coming from 20 meters away

For summer tyres, I can only recommend Schwalbe Marathons. I use the Marathon Plus Tour - they have more tread, which perhaps (I don't know) might make it last longer. I use these guys for tyres: http://www.spacycles.co.uk - cheap.

Some people have two bikes, one for nice days, and a cheap winter beater which you really don't care if gets rusted out. Make sure you clean your drivetrain after you ride it on very salty/slushy roads - it will rust quickly.

You will also need two or three pairs of gloves:

  1. Any thin-ish gloves, for summer & optionally use as liner gloves for 2) and 3). Never ride without gloves.

  2. For winter, some lobster gloves. I use Aldi lobster gloves - they're great.

  3. Waterproof + windproof gloves, for cold and wet days. I can recommend some large scuba gloves (I use "Gul flexor neoprene") combined with some fluffy inner gloves, as they can get cold and damp otherwise.

Buy a chain checking tool and make sure you check your chain every few hundred miles and replace it if necessary, otherwise you will also need to replace the rear cassette due to excessive wear.

Buy three replacement chains now. Label them 1, 2 and 3. Once you start to use #3, buy a new set of chains and a cassette, because at this point you will probably be due for a new cassette.

You should also carry a spare set of cheap, charged front & rear lights just in case your main lights stop working.

I have a pair of these guys for general stuff around the house. I really like that they seal around my face because with typical safety glasses I always seem to get particles flying in around the edges.

u/no-mad · 1 pointr/microgrowery

No. Try these $11 dollars kills the side light too. Fits over regular glasses with flip up front.

u/LotsOfButtons · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

little more expensive but these are the ones I use and they have no glare at all.

u/Push-Pull · 1 pointr/MechanicAdvice

I really like these for anything I do grinding-wise. Not getting any grit in your eyeballs with these, and they fit over my normal glasses. Gotta agree with having a face shield as well.

Bonus, you get that mad scientist/bomber/nuclear/steampunk look out of it.

Personally, I bought a Krytac Trident-II CRB-M as a first gun, but I wound up spending more than your budget (and my budget too) on my first loadout. Here's what I went with and what it cost.

The Krytac Trident-II series comes with a mosfet, so you won't be spending extra on that if you go this route, but you're still looking at ~$350 for the gun (and mosfet). https://www.evike.com/products/85624/ (I bought mine local instead of Evike, so my price was slightly lower, I got to actually hold the gun before I bought it, and didn't have to deal with shipping)

Eye-protection and face protection can be safe, and still cheap (don't compromise safe for cheap though). Pyramex I-force goggles can be had for ~$20 or less on Amazon, as well as the One-Tigris foldable mesh mask for close to the same price. Here's what I went with (bit of a knock-off for the mask, but it works well):
Eyes: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006WPSELE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Face: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K74T1BF?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details
TBH, I've had issues with moisture buildup in the goggles after several hours of play... not fog per-se... but actual water to the point it seems my viewpoint's from the inside of a fishbowl. Other (less sweaty, apparently) people swear by the Pyramex line tho.

Titan Power makes Li-ION packs for airsoft. I bought a 2600 mAh 11.1v Li-ION pack for ~$38.
https://www.gettitanpower.com/collections/11-1v-airsoft
They also make digital chargers that can handle LiPO and Li-ION for about $32.
https://www.gettitanpower.com/collections/chargers/products/titan-digital-charger
Again, I bought these local... but prices were about the same.

You may be able to skip "clothing" for now, and simply run "street clothes" to help stretch your budget. If camouflage is absolutely necessary to you, hit up your local donation-supplied thrift shops for donated BDUs in (or close to) your size (especially if you have a military base nearby). Much less expensive than buying new. I wound up buying >>$100 in new clothing and other gear...

Total (without clothing) ~$460. That extra $40 is going to be eaten by BBs and field fees though.

Really depends on your glasses frames. I've tried the Big Bens but they're not very comfortable for me. They press my glasses into my eyes and put pressure on the frame arms at the sides of my head. I couldn't get a comfortable configuration with them even though they're plenty big. What worked for me were welding goggles like these but the tradeoff is that there's no peripheral vision.

u/orangeh · 1 pointr/guns

I got some of these and like them. They fit on my huge head and I havent noticed a real fogging problem like other glasses.

u/Fewluvatuk · 1 pointr/CNC

We just give These to the kids that wear glasses in robotics. Meets all of the safety requirements and easy to use.

u/exoclipse · 1 pointr/guns

I bought these. They aren't MIL-DTL-43511D rated, but if I wasn't a lazy POS I'd think they'd get the job done.

I just wear my eyeglasses (polycarbonate lenses). They protected my eyes from a slide being propelled into them, so I guess they're OK.

u/woody2436 · 1 pointr/woodworking

Not the ones pictured, but uvex has some models with a pretty wide bridge like you are looking for. I used to use these in Chem labs. I didn't use them with a respirator, but they did have a noticeably wider bridge and were very comfortable. Worth a shot to try with a respirator.

Uvex stealth goggles

u/KitsuneKas · 1 pointr/airsoft

Dirty secret of eyepro for glasses wearers are Honeywell UVEX goggles. They're ugly as sin and they only come in one color and I wish I'd found the greys when I bought my navy blue pair but they're comfortable, have a huge field of view, fit even the bulkiest of frames, don't fog easily due to the rubber gasket keeping breath out, and best of all, are absolutely dirt cheap.

Honeywell's UVEX shooting glasses made the APEL list so I'd trust the goggles for actual shrapnel.

Personally I decided to invest in some Revision Bullet Ants with prescription inserts. Really the best solution for glasses wearers if you want to get that nice cheek weld i5s prevent.

Link to the UVEX goggles if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/Uvex-Stealth-Uvextreme-Anti-Fog-S3960C/dp/B0001YXFFM/ref=sr_1_32?keywords=honeywell+uvex&qid=1570005578&s=gateway&sr=8-32

That and a 1TG mask can get you full-face protected with glasses for under $30.

u/Mr_Elroy_Jetson · 1 pointr/BellsPalsy

you can get safety googles (clear) that look an awful lot like regular glasses. So long as it does a pretty good job of sealing off your open eye, that could work.

Something like https://www.amazon.com/3M-Virtua-Glasses-Polycarbonate-Anti-Scratch/dp/B00AEFBLW2/ref=sr_1_8?crid=15Y4BOZVVMNJ1&keywords=3m+virtua+safety+glasses&qid=1555941377&s=gateway&sprefix=3m+virtua%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-8

I usually only use a respirator for painting and fumes (charcoal filter). If I'm making a lot of dust I use dust masks.

  • These are my everyday safety glasses

  • I use these goggles for lots-o-dust (I have a DeWalt factory store near me).

  • These are the ear protection I use. The only thing I don't like about these is the radio doesn't have a display so it can be hard to find stations. I've always used over-ear protection, never liked sticking things in my ears.
u/markpelly · 1 pointr/woodworking

I use these with my 3M respirator and they work great. Sometimes they get foggy if I have them situated wrong:

I ride with simple safety glasses. They aren’t sealed to your face but it’s a much tighter fit than sunglasses. They’re also cheap and designed to protect against stuff flying into your face.

These are only a few bucks, will probably last you a year or more and come in tinted variants.

The only time I don’t have these are sometimes in the rain (when I take them off) and sometimes if it gets below ~10-15F I’ll wear something else.

I also wear them all day at work, they’re super comfortable.

There's more than one way to make a cardboard HMD with a smartphone screen. Although I would really recommend using foamboard and a five to seven inch tablet. I'm currently experimenting with welding goggles and the same phone you're using. You might have a little better luck with a Nexus 7 Cardboard.

Also, you don't have to confine yourself to native Android and Google Cardboard demos. This guy set up his ghetto HMD to stream Minecraft from his PC with head tracking.

u/GoodOlChap · 1 pointr/BurningMan

I ended up going with these guys

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005E06C6M/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the price they are darn good, not too dark not to be un-usable at night (but it was 2008/09 last time I saw a good evening dust storm), but you could get the clear ones also. Ive had cheaper other type of pairs but they fogged or broke.

These are a bit more bulky then other options but still less than normal ski ones.

They didn't fog up and I didn't cry why cutting onions, I'm sold on them. I might buy a clear pair for a spare and just incase with them but the dark really isnt that bad... in fact I am typing in a dark room with them on right now and I can see my keyboard just fine from the light of the monitor. They were dark enough not to have to sequent with them on outside too. Not polarized (only real beef)

u/lWatsonl · 1 pointr/airsoft

The goggles are Pyramex V2G PLUS. They have thermal lenses so they a decent at keeping fogging at bay. I have a prototype of a fan modification I added to them to eliminate any chance of fogging. I'm still testing and tweaking that. I plan to post up more details about that soon.

The mask is OneTigris 6" Foldable Half Face Mesh Mask. I added snaps to the sides to easily attach and remove it from my helmet.

I believe the Sierras are actually Pyramex's V2G-XP goggles. Regardless, they're pretty great for what you pay for! I see a lot of people use these goggles. I still manage to fog them though...hence my love for the Bollé X810 goggles.

u/onandagusthewhite · 1 pointr/bicycling

u/BenzoV · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

If you're looking for something less bulky, I like these Pyramex Fortress Safety Glasses. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UYGR78/

I use them regularly for commuting in spring/fall and night riding. They wrap around pretty well and have a nice field of vision. Keep them clean and they do a decent job of resisting fog, though now I re-apply quick-spit anti-fog regularly to keep them clear.

u/Spratster · 0 pointsr/airsoft

Bollé Contours are great, comfortable, they won't fall off unless you try to make them, great price, clear, no fogging and I've shot them a bunch to test with a few different guns and they've held up fine.

u/Trazac · 0 pointsr/motorcycles

I've always used sunglasses with a clear visor. I'm in the US, Florida specifically, and at night here it's illegal to have sunglasses or tinted visors on while riding. So you have to change out the visor if it's tinted. That was my reason for not getting a tinted visor.

My one tip on sunglasses is this: only certain sunglasses will work well. Anything with a sports grip is going to suck. They're hard to put on and hard to take off. Like pushing a vice clap onto your head. I use these, they're far from the best but they're small, light, and get the job done. They're incredibly cheap and they feel it. I got mine from the hardware store (Home Depot specifically but I see them in most hardware stores.) I know people with helmets with the drop-down visors and they still wear sunglasses instead of using the drop-down.
