Audiophile stuff tend to be very $$$ and its the sort of the stuff they like to buy on their own to buy the very best for the price, I wouldn't suggest you buy that.

Same as audiophile, people tend to buy their own shit. I dont like having excessive kitchen gadgets cluttering my space. BUT fancy ingredients are always welcome. Saffron, truffles, high-end olive oil, hazelnut oil, Limoncello, Prosecco...

Edit : I saw that your budget is 200$ dang,

• does he have an enameled cast iron pot? If not, get him a le creuset dutch oven. This is 300 CAN$ so I imagine its possible to find it for 200ish american somewhere.
  
  
• does he have a kitchen mixer? If not this is a very good one : kitchen aid artisan 5 quarts I cannot see the price right now for some reason so I dont really the price range. As I recall they were around 270$ US but maybe theyre discounted right now. I dont know; I cant see the price.
  
  
• Does he have crappy pepper&salt mills? Peugeot makes the best this is 80$ so you can add other stuff too
  
  
• Mortar and pestle are all the same but the material so you can get him a pretty granite one. Just choose an appropriate size. This is not a gadget. This is a base kitchen tool that he will use. I thought it was hipster shit but its very very useful. (if he doesnt already have one)

I bought a Cuisinart coffee grinder from Amazon and after I'd had it for maybe eight months the switch went bad, so it would never stop grinding until I pulled out the ground coffee hopper.

I called them, as it was still under warranty, and they sent me a replacement. When I received it, though, I also found a set of cordless salt and pepper grinders in the box as well. When I called Cuisinart to ask them if there was some sort of mistake I was told "No, keep them."

hmm I'm not sure if this is the best suggestion (as my Dad doesn't experience the heavy tremor but he has the lack of motor skills) but others may be interested I got him Electronic Salt and Pepper Mills makes that task a lot easier for him

These are by far the best ones I've owned, I've had these over 10 years, still work and look as good as ever, had a few people also mention how good they were. You can also buy a nice marble stand for them. Check the links/reviews:

These Salt and pepper grinders are a must if you like to cook! Fresh ground pepper and salt make a real difference in cooking!

Also I have found having a slow cooker and/or a rice cooker to be invaluable in my kitchen!

This one is not on my wish list but it also is useful for someone just starting out in their own life, they may not be the best tools ever, but they will get you started!
