Don't try and change the password, that'll set off alarms and your parents will freeze the account. Drive to another branch of your bank where your parent's friend doesn't work, and do one of two things:

  1. Withdraw all the money in cash. Do this is you're comfortable withdrawing the amount of money in the account and having it on hand. This will guarantee that your money is yours, but if something happens to the bills it's on you. I did this when I bought my first car, I would recommend having a small safe like this locked to something in your car like the seat legs or some other structural component. It keeps your bills relatively safe during transport if you're worried about it.
  2. Get a certified cashier's check. Do this if you're not comfortable carrying around the amount of money in your account in cash, though a certified check can be reversed (very hard to do, though if your parents have an inside at the bank it could be easier depending on their position). This isn't guaranteed to get you your money, but it's safer if you're not comfortable carrying around large sums.

Take this money and deposit it at another bank/credit union right away. As in drive straight from the branch to your money's new home. Personally I use Chase for my checking (paycheck deposits, flex money) and Ally for my savings (emergency fund, everything I save/ budget overflow every month). Some of my family uses a credit union and they love it. I've held off on using a credit union because I have plans to move internationally sometime in the near future and I don't want my money in a small-town credit union in the Midwest, but it's a good option if credit unions appeal to you.

Also think about starting a Roth IRA as a basic beginning investment strategy/retirement savings. The sooner you start the more money you'll have in the end. It only hurts to wait. I can personally recommend Vanguard and their Target Date funds for a user-friendly way to start. My mother worked at Fidelity for a period of time and she holds her Roth IRA with them, so that's another good option.

Make sure you protect yourself. I don't know your family, but I've seen people get violent over lesser things than large sums of money. Have a friend that knows where you are the day you do this, and set up regularly scheduled texts/calls with them with some sort of way to communicate that you're safe (e.g. "The weather is good here" = I'm all good, "The weather forecast isn't great" = I might be in danger, "The weather's really bad here" = Help me.) Make sure you're safe and protected if you're still going to be dependent on your parents/ living with them for any amount of time after you withdraw your money.

Glad you/others came out unscathed.

A time-locking safe seems like a great idea for responsible people who wanna get gnarled, but not drive. Pop your keys and/or wallet in, and/or most of your stash if you're doing a fiendish type substance ..

Of course, there's a chance one might find the safe thrown thru drywall, or sitting in the front yard, looking battered

One option is to buy lock box like this and use, for example, emlalock.com:

> How does EmlaLock work?
>
> (...) When you are ready to start a session, you set the combination to random, snap a photo of the lock box without looking at the photo, and then upload the photo. After your session is over you get the photo back and can release yourself

Something like this can be pretty useful on beach days, or even on deck if you don't want to leave your electronics unattented while you go to the bathroom.

Seconded on the hook magnets, extension cords, and some sort of bottle/cup the ones on the ship are pretty small. I usually fill up on ship water before heading into port as well.

I have seen different solutions to this problem.

There are a lot of "dumb" options available.

  1. BOB This is one of the more expensive options but it allows for multiple kids each with their own timer and a LOCKED plug. There is a problem with low power consumption TVs so read the reviews.

  2. Circle with Disney This is more for online play but control connection to a service like netflix, xbox, etc.

  3. Koala Similar to disney circle

  4. Token Timer Another "dumb" option.

  5. PlayLimit

If these options don't work hopefully it will help springboard your search to find other options besides a smart plug.

Years ago, these were common in front doors with mail slots:

https://www.amazon.com/Solid-Brass-Mail-Plates-Antique/dp/B005TVVJ1E

They pretty much stop someone from reaching in with their hand.

They were then upgraded to a chute:

The latest and greatest is a full on box:

All could be retrofitted without replacing the door.

Question for the Realtors: It's 2019. How come lockboxes that you can control via your cell phone aren't the norm? Obviously do some research on the features, etc, but example 1 and example 2.

I would even go farther, and use something like calendly to let buyer's agents schedule. Shared outlook calendar for "123 Main St" with calendly, listing agent, and homeowner. Homeowner can book up any time they don't want the home to be shown (I use calendly IRL and if I don't want anyone to book 2 pm because I'm going to lunch of w/e, and not near my outlook, I just book a time with myself on my cell phone), and once a day the listing agent tells the lockbox to unlock (only to those with the combo from the MLS) 10 minutes before the scheduled times. You're also creating a digital record of which Realtors showed the house and when, so if something goes missing it's not hard to narrow it down.

Let's say you're a top producing agent with 5 listings at once. That's one time <$1000 for 5 digital cellular lockboxes and then $13/mo for calendly. Each address has their own calendly (or similar) and outlook (or google, etc) calendar shared by the listing agent with the respective homeowner. If you're selling 3-5 homes a month, you can afford it.

I've bought and installed cameras for my properties at a cost of ~$500 each property. Its a great investment and provide a better sense of security for the tenants as well, it can record 24/7 for up to 3 weeks (higher if you get more storage space).

I would view the recording when a tenant complaint about something like illegal dumping, car window broken and such. With a big posted sign and cameras in place, there seem to be less illegal activities.

Nothing fancy, 1 or 2mp cameras is all you need, also I purchased a security box to secure the recorder.

She installs the app on her phone as owner of the lock. You install the app on your phone and she sets you up as Guest. She can then control exactly when/if you can access the key.

i just got this one and HIGHLY recommend it

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I5OG4X4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_zcBszb63ZKGXY

it's got a bigger cavity inside and perfectly fits my abnormally large jeep fob key.

I loved this thing. I attached mine to the hotel closet bar since those hotel safes don't really guard from staff, but they can be used in public too.

I seal my bud and smelly smoking gear in mason jars which keeps any smell from leaking through. From there, I use this box off amazon to lock all the jars and the rest of my smoking items there:

You can have her put the keys in a locked box with a bluetooth that she can unlock with her phone:

u/Level9TraumaCenter · 1 pointr/Safes

Kind of.

>The safe box can also be used as a Time Delay Safe. Using this modality, it will be possible to open the safe after a preset time interval. To use this function, move the lever that you will find inside the door relative to the time delay desired. Choose the time delay you wish to use on your safe: 1-2-5-10-15-20 minutes. Using 2 or more levers together the time of each lever will be summed to the total delay. For example, if you select the 5 minute and the 10 minute lever the delay will be of 15 minutes. Dial the first time your personal code on the keypad outside to start the countdown for the delayed opening. At the end of the countdown a beeping sound will warn you of the possibility of opening the safe by dialing again the personal code and rotating the knob. If combination is not entered within a 2-hour window, the system will cancel the procedure and it will have to repeated from the beginning. It will always be possible to open the safe with the key, at any time, in any condition.

It would be easier to install a hidden fuel pump switch on your car. If someone were to steal your keys or force the ignition switch, the car might start and even drive a little bit, but if the electric fuel pump switch is off, the car would stall out in about 15 seconds so they wouldn't get very far.

SentrySafe BDS-1 Drawer Safe, 0.08 cu. ft, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CPVY1J4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_h6LnDbDVB58AC There are cheaper ones but this is the one I use and I like it.

u/earlekastle · 1 pointr/chastity

Just FYI I'd look up some reviews on that timed lock. (And it's not from OXY, it's a cheap Chinese product they're reselling.) Everything I've ever seen says it doesn't work well, the battery dies easily, and it comes apart when it's meant to be locked. I'd go with the combination padlock, but then that's $30 when a realtor's box, which is essentially the same thing, can be had for $18.

EmlaLock is also fantastic because you can introduce a bit of randomness into your lockup. I'm currently using it right now, and here's the session I'm in. I have no idea when I'll be released (although I can check for an added time penalty), but because I'm forced to play the Wheel of Fortune game at minimum 5 times each day, the remaining time on my session can fluctuate a lot. (And then even when the timer runs out, I still have to spin a wheel with only a 10% chance of being released, otherwise more time gets added.)

There's some "public" features too, like other people can vote on your session to add/remove time, there's a public pillory, you can set a "requirement link" where you have to share the URL around and get a certain pre-set number of people to vote on your session before you're allowed to be released, etc. — although I've never done any of the "public" things, just solo.

If you have any questions on the site or how to use it, let me know.
