My son is 8 and has been coming on runs with me since he was 4. We've gone through a few brands and found Nike to be the best all-round option. He found the New Balance shoes too wide with a lot of lateral foot movement. Adidas always fit well and were generally good, but we found they degraded pretty quickly. The Nikes fit him well, don't break down at an unreasonable rate, and aren't too expensive, all things considered. Google animal print sandals for lots of different styles. I cant find any of the rubber ones like in photo though.
Last year we got these crocs ones, which I can't recommend as a waterproof boot, but they were easy to get on and new-ish walker friendly.
Everyone loves baby bogs, and they are especially good for the smaller ones who still aren't super coordinated. We went with classic bogs this year, and we have a pair of See Kai Run waterproof boots/hightops that we bought for hiking this summer.
Look into buying dancing shoes! They will be available in size 4.5 at least, and even the girl sizes shouldn't look too childish/girlie.

I ended up buying my daughter size 10's and thick socks last year because they're so expensive for half sizes. Luckily little feet grow fast and this year she's comfortably fitting in a 12.

My kid seems to like Frisky brand water shoes.
She's also currently wearing these Crocs which look a lot like Natives, but maybe they're different somehow?
