And double sided curtain hooks - shaped like a wonky W or omega symbol.

Changing the liner and/or the decorative curtain with these is SO. EASY.

I don't take issue with manufacturing being in China. I just don't believe in buying the same generic item and slapping your private label on it and pretend its yours. Just type in Shower Curtain Rings on Amazon and look at all the same shower curtain rings with a different private label.

Amazon is still manufacturing in China but they are working with the manufacturer to make the product to the specifics they want. To me that extra effort goes a long way.

I have glass doors and they are a pain to keep clean and the tracks collect hair etc. If I could go back to a curtain I would in a heart beat! They sell special curtain rods that bow out and in give more space depending on if your in or out of the shower that you may like. The shower curtain rings you choose will make a difference when you take down the curtain to wash it occasionally.Choose ones that are easy to release the curtains like this one https://www.amazon.com/Maytex-Double-Roller-Curtain-Brushed/dp/B0042ZB1YI/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_all_spx_wp_0_9?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0042ZB1YI&pd_rd_r=4a7c7c8b-6054-40ef-88ad-38da6ff1fcf0&pd_rd_w=mszF2&pd_rd_wg=3m3AG&pf_rd_p=be1fc0a3-5323-42ce-8eda-5c75d301717d&pf_rd_r=T144AA1254XT47RN1399&psc=1&refRID=T144AA1254XT47RN1399

A really helpful resource is a rat cage calculator like this one

Second, if you're really on a budget, I highly recommend looking into cages for other animals like ferrets, chinchillas, sugar gliders, or birds. For some reason, I've found that rat cages seem to charge a premium. Use the rat cage calculator to check for size.

One option is this small animal cage on Amazon for $47.95 that can hold 2 rats (not any more).

Keep an eye on Craigslist and local buy/sell/trade Facebook groups and you can sometimes find a good deal on a secondhanP cage.

A big consideration is bar spacing. If your rats are full grown males they can probably not get through 1" spaces, but any younger or smaller rats need no more than 1/2" spacing. The cage I linked above has 3/8" which is fine. If you do find an inexpensive cage with large wire bar spacing, you can solve that by wrapping the cage in hardware cloth. For example, this hardware cloth from Home Depot it's only like $9 a roll and would work just fine. It's not the prettiest or most elegant solution but certainly gets the job done. If you find a super cheap secondhand cage, that can really save you a lot of money.

Finally, don't forget that rats should not be walking on bare wire shelves or ladders, or they can get sores on their feet called bumblefoot. You will need to cover the wire in some way. Many people use fleece, but it's best to place an absorbent layer underneath the fleece such as a packing blanket. Plan to change the fleece frequently, as it doesn't absorb urine and the ammonia can build up quickly and irritate your rat's respiratory system even if you can't smell it yourself. Fleece should be changed at least every 3 days.

Personally I ditched all the ramps in my rat's cages and bought rope dog chew toys from the dollar store for them to climb on. They like the challenge much better than the ramps anyway. Also at the dollar store you can get little baskets and containers for your rats to hide and sleep in. No need to spend a lot on rat-specific items. Get a dollar store package of zip ties to attach everything. Speaking of hanging things, I use these shower hooks from Amazon to hang everything and at 50 rings for like $6 they're a great deal, plus the points get covered when you close them.

Okay, that was long but good luck! Also I'd avoid Wish, they charge a fortune for shipping. Have fun!!

Curved shower rods are great, especially doubles, but get the ones that attach to the wall with fasteners rather than friction (those suck). If you can only find a single, get this type of curtain hook.

Curved rods don't take much much extra space, but make the shower feel a lot more spacious.

Curtain clips (Something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K52TV2C/)! They fit perfectly. Alligator clips would work too.
With my eternal thanks to u/CorbinDallasMyMan for that bit of knowledge. 😁

Nice! It’s better than scrambling and then a fight starting cuz of stress. I doubt 3m adhesive products would hold up under temp changes, moisture, Uv exposure. I know there are all kinds of clips that you can get with some string lights. This is something but not really what I was thinking of. Some companies give proprietary cheapy clear plastic “S” clips. Never seen them for sale. Always been freebie accessories.

u/Chapstickie · 3 pointsr/crafts

You’re welcome! I just thought it was a shame to have all those shapes and leave them clumped up. A huge display is much more dramatic. You might want to lay them out on a table or the floor first to figure out how to get around your framed art and utensils but it should be pretty cool. The rings shouldn’t be too expensive since you can get away with cheaper ones if they don’t have to handle the constant pulling of a curtain.

EDIT- if you don’t have anyone in your home who will try to pull them down, something like this might work. I’m not sure how deep the cookie cutters are, you’d have to measure them. These would make it easy to pick which one you want and pull it from the chain.

Those are metal circular curtain rings. You can get them on Amazon or home repair stores.

That makes sense. With hammocks, I avoid anything that attaches at the corners with strings or straps because my boys have always chewed those first. Instead, you can poke holes in the corners and hang them using shower curtain rings or something not so easily chewed. I make hammocks with metal grommets in the corners and hang them with 1" s-hooks or metal shower curtain rings.

I put bras, tank tops, and spaghetti straps on these hooks in my closet. Way easier than trying to keep them organized in a drawer!

u/Spyrus21 · 2 pointsr/sousvide

Use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01851VE5K/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I haven't had a single problem with them and have a ton of them now

u/samdeed · 2 pointsr/lockpicking

I bet some kind of shower curtain hooks for the hanging locks would look great.

u/sammijo235 · 2 pointsr/RATS

They are shower curtain hooks!

I got mine from Amazon.

I bought 2 or three packs of these because I like to leave them hanging even when they don't have hammocks on them. It's hard to hang them from some parts of the top of my cage because I have coroplast on the top to make storage room (and ratty play room) on top of the cage.

Also, old clothes make excellent hammocks.

You could head down to Goodwill, get some men's denim pants for $5-7 and make 8-10 hammocks with just scissors and some shower curtain hooks!

Denim hammock.

I also don't generally recommend yarn work for rats. It can easily unravel if the rats chew in the right places and long toenails can get caught.

That being said, this one is a VERY tight crochet, so nobody is going to get caught in it. The tension helps it hold it's shape pretty well too.

With these types of hooks!! They are so fancy and they make a cool "swooshing" sound. Reminds me of being in a super fancy hotel. They look more "grown-up" than plastic hooks. http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Duty-Polished-Curtain-RollerRings/dp/B00017UT6W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1381344496&sr=8-4&keywords=metal+shower+curtain+hooks

Well measured my dining room window and it's 84 inches, damn. What if the grommets were the ones with wheels on them? Think we could push the distance? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SFHTXN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Ni8ODbYG9Z9A8

Could you use some [clips like this] (https://www.amazon.com/Yueton-Stainless-Curtain-Decoration-Blovess/dp/B01851VE5K/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_263_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EHEFNTA7AYPP48K2S5TT) to attach a new curtain? Unfortunately it can be very difficult to get replacement parts for RV's. Folks tend to improvise.

Thanks!

I really wanted to make a jig and I tried using my grandfather’s old sketchy router but I think I had dull bits or just used it incorrectly (highly possible) but it was a fiasco. My wife was happy, so I let it slide.

Here’s the wire and clips we used:

Search for roller shower curtain hook to find the look you want online, then order or find them in a store. The larger the rollers, the better chance they’ll roll smoothly over the lip.

Hi! I actually don't clip the pads down. I find if they are clipped down, my rats try harder to tug them free. If they're just flat on the shelves, weighted down with other things, they seem to leave them alone. Your experience may be different though! If that doesn't work for you, I would recommend using clips (these are the ones I use for everything) and clamp the pads down every few inches around the outside of the cage.

The ramps are tricky. They're basically rectangles of the size of the ramp. I clips them to the side of the ramp with clips (or else they would slide off). The girls do occasionally tug them free and I haven't found a foolproof way to stop this yet.

I'd link something like this onto Something like these (may be concerned about weight load) on a mounted black steel pipe above your fridge.

> Shower curtain rings, so simple, but we have had the things rust through the plating and destroy white curtains. Fuck target.

Had these for years, no issues.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00017UT6W/

> Same with curtains, no rust grommets means jack.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T4ZAX8/

This has a lot of negative reviews that stand out for some reason, but I've also had this for over 3 years and zero issues.
