Yeah definitely worth considering! Personally I use my roommate's Keurig K10 Mini Plus with this reusable filter, grinding whole beans with this manual burr grinder. That all adds up to pretty close to $150. Now I can't guarantee that the coffee strength will be great if brewing a larger quantity of coffee using a larger-sized Keurig machine (the mini really only works for up to 10 oz of fluid). But for now I am pretty happy with this setup until I decide to go for an upgrade.

EDIT: A lot of people also recommended an Aeropress or French press. I haven't tried an Aeropress myself, but I think both might be really great options for you too (and much cheaper), only real downside is that both take more steps and manual work than using a machine like a Keurig or standard drip machine. If the idea of just pressing a button and getting your coffee appeals to you strongly, maybe avoid the mechanical options in favor of the electronic ones. But you would be well-off with any of these tools, I think.

• after a quick look around online, the coffee maker (new) goes for ~$1300. It is a Flavia Creation 400. So that is a good score if it sells for even half of that.

I got one for my mom for Christmas, and it's pretty good.

It hasn't malfunctioned at all so far in the 3 months since, and my mom says it's pretty good (I don't drink coffee so I can't say). She says it's on par with Starbucks.

The cups are expensive, but if it's 75c for a cup vs $5 for a starbucks, you might as well go with the keurig. Also, every now and then, my local supermarket has the kcups on sale for like $5 a box of 20, so you might get lucky.

I got her the B60 at Sam's for $90 and it came with a variety 72 pack of K-cups, so she liked it.

She was also looking at the cheaper B30, but she felt that the push-button to open mechanism felt too cheap since it was on a spring. After trying the push-button vs. the handle, the handle-to-lift definitely felt more solid.

The largest coffee cup it can make will fill up a standard coffee mug, but it won't fill up one of the tall travel mugs.

Overall, she likes it, and said it makes a good cup of coffee, so I'd say get it :)

Still, I’d suggest the potential buyer visit or call Sur La Table or Williams Sonoma locally and see if they’ll match the price.

I have a this coffee maker to make either a pot of coffee (about 48 ounces) or a travel mug (16 ounces) for normal use. I also have this French Press to take either when camping or for fancier coffees. I have an electric kettle I use for the French Press and sometimes a cup of tea and a stove-top kettle I don't use anymore since it is designed for an electric range and I now have a gas range.

The clear pot you ask about is the carafe for brewing larger quantities of coffee. The glass one is meant to sit on a small electric plate at the base of the coffee maker to keep it hot while a steel one like mine is a thermal pot and not meant to be heated.

There is a way to make coffee on the stove and that is called a percolator - and there are electric versions of that too.

Instant coffee of the just-add-water variety is available over here but the only people I ever see drink or make it are older people like my grandparents. Americans tend to take their coffee as seriously as Brits take their tea so most(?) of us wouldn't touch instant if there was another choice available.

Single serving coffee maker, uses k-cups. Its just sitting on my counter taunting me. I haven't used it in a while, so it probably needs a descaling treatment (to remove mineral deposits in the water heater).

I will include a k-cup tree that holds a bunch of k-cups, and whatever k-cups i have left in my pantry.

is one of the simplest Nespresso machines available, we've had ours since 2011 and it is still going strong with daily usage (although I don't use the Aeroccino anymore). The Aeroccino can either heat or chill milk depending on the kind of drink you want (You can also use it to make whisky sours if you are that way inclined).

There are many different types. I have two different types, and think this is the one I prefer. They are awesome, perfect for tailoring your coffee if you want extra strong or a bit weaker than a full cup.

Common problems: too many to list but a good cleaning usually makes a huge difference.

The fact that it's $0.55/pod when getting it in bulk is why I just went back to my old Cuisinart grind and brew. I get a pound of 8 O'Clock beans for $7.50, dump some in the top, it grinds them, drops them into my filter, and brews.

K-Cups are nice, but the only thing I use my Keurig for these days is hot water for cocoa and tea.

And this isn't even getting into how every Keurig brewer I've ever had has needed to be replaced at least once within a year of getting it, and the one I have now won't brew a large (I have to use small twice). They tell me to descale, but I've done it multiple times and it's still not working right.

I really want something like this, though.
