On a different type of positive note. I picked up a portable wireless Apple Watch magnetic charger from amazon. It was 40 bucks. Hooks to my keychain and can charge my watch one and a half times. I really like it. That’s probably what they were going for.

Amazon, it's a stick on piece of stainless steel, looks like it was part of the design once in place and is very secure. Very pleased with the look once I got the new stainless band and bezel, now looks like a stylish dress watch. I have had plenty of people surprised it's a smart watch.

u/tsdguy · 26 pointsr/AppleWatch

Naw. The purchased one is cheaper and it's made of TPU so it's soft and flexible.

I printed on in PLA and was always worried that it would scratch something.

Plus I have to say that there are better stands - the watch sometimes doesn't connect with the magnet.

This Spigen stand gives a much more reliable connection to the charger and it's only $8.

Trendy:
"upcycled a Huawei watch box as an Apple watch charger".

Fancy:
"repurposed a Huawei watch box as an Apple watch charger"

Plain old English:
"used a Huawei watch box as an Apple watch charger"

Regardless, I think it looks pretty cool, although I'm too lazy to deal with that everyday. I just slap my watch on a $10 Apple Watch charging stand for 30 min a day and call it done.

u/mrwcs · 17 pointsr/AppleWatch

I use Skinomi screen protectors because I don’t want to be like one of the many people who post in this sub every single day saying “I scratched my screen after just 4 days”

u/Fortitude21 · 15 pointsr/AppleWatch

This Spigen Apple Watch stand is great. Simple, minimal, and cheap. Gets the job done. People have complained about the tape on the bottom of it, but I just left the plastic on and don't have a problem with it sliding around on my wooden table.

u/zrieser · 14 pointsr/AppleWatch

Could you wear the watch on you upper arm under your shirt? They make arm bands for the Apple Watch.

Standard watch lugs.

These are the crappy ones. The screws come loose, and they fall apart. You must check & maintain them by tightening the screws on a routine, regular basis. They're a big pain.

Some example sellers of this type of "screw" lug:

I just picked up the S4 SS 44mm. I work in an industrial setting so I need to have a case on my Apple Watch. These two fit the bill and look pretty good considering. I didn’t wear a case on my Series 0 SS 42mm and it got pretty beat up on the SS. It never got a scratch on the face so I’m not too worried about that but I want to protect the SS from scuffs this time around.

If it's your first TT and you're just getting started, /r/vinyl recommends this one. I've been happy with mine, although I do plan to upgrade in the future. If your budget is a little higher, I've heard good things about this one.

The one I plan on eventually getting is this guy.

I own three Apple Watch chargers. One is always plugged up at home and attached to a stand on my bedside table. A second sits at a desk at my girlfriend's house, in case I need to charge there. The third is inside this device and I throw it into my bag when I'm traveling or staying overnight somewhere.

Cases get a lot of hate on this sub, but it’s your watch and you should wear it how you choose. I’ve used the Spigen Rugged Armor since getting my watch at Christmas and I like it. I personally do not think it adds any noticeable bulk to the watch. I originally had the case + band model, but the band didn’t fit my wrist very well so I got the case only and have been wearing it with the black Apple Sport Band the watch came with.

u/deepestcreepest · 5 pointsr/vinyl

Poor plan, the budget, that is. The orbit actually is a decent turntable and actually will produce a decent signal, so having it choke on $70 worth of junk will not give you your money's worth. I'd go for their preamp, or this one if you wanna keep it down. As for a headphone amp, if you're willing to try something different, go for this little bastard. Sounds great and will drive bigger badder headphones down the road.

u/raulroflcopter · 5 pointsr/GameDeals

Sega Genesis Classic Game Pack is also on sale, $5.99 at 84% off. The historical low seems to have been $4.99. The SEGA Pack that OP linked has 6 Steam keys for Sonic titles that are also included in the Sonic Hits Collection in place of SEGA Genesis Series 5 (which the pack I linked contains). However, it also includes the two Toe Jam & Earl titles which are not in the SEGA Pack that I have linked. Those two Toe Jam & Earl titles are not available for purchase directly on Steam, but you can find retail Steam keys on GreenManGaming's site (and DRM-free versions at GamersGate apparently).

The Sonic Hits Collection comes with separate Steam keys, and the SEGA Genesis pack that I linked has five separate keys for each individual pack. You might already own 8/10 games from SEGA Genesis Series 1 (along with Golden Axe II and Golden Axe III) if you purchased the BTA tier of the first SEGA Humble Bundle.

u/JonathanUnicorn · 5 pointsr/GameDeals

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AEV8HI2

Check that out. Tons of Genesis games and you save 28 bucks. The only thing I want besides those is Toejam & Earl and Jet Set Radio.

Steam keys too. Kid Chameleon was the one I really wanted from it.

u/cssvt · 5 pointsr/AppleWatch

My gym has stone pillars all around the weight area. Tonight I got too close to one and roughly brushed my screen across the corner of a pillar. I have the ArmorSuit MilitaryShield applied and it took it like a champ. There was a mark that has since rubbed off, but I have zero doubts that if this was naked it'd have a nasty scratch.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UH3L82Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ZYeGybBTHGWAY

The application process is a little tedious (but not lengthy). It didn't look great the morning after applying, but over the course of the day it went from obviously there to completely invisible. Doesn't hinder use at all. Just make sure you follow their online instructions to a T as most reviews note.

u/SMELTN · 5 pointsr/AppleWatch

Ever since having a Pebble I have always put a gadgetwrap on mine.

When I bought my Apple Watch last week I went straight to Amazon and bought an Armorsuit for it. They are JUST like the Gadgetwrap but it folds over the screen! I hate the ones that just cover the front of the screen and when you swipe with your fingers you feel the corners and such. This one wraps over the edges so you don't get that and I LOVE it! Very cheap to for a 2 pack with lifetime warranty.

I use this: ArmorSuit MilitaryShield For Apple Watch

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UH3L82Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It have already hit the face of my watch pretty hard several times and no worries.

I am pretty hard on the face of my watches. I have several standard watches (not saphire) that I have put scratches in over the years, so I decided to go this route.

It is practically unnoticeable once it is applied correctly. As long as you follow the directions on their website (youtube video), you should have excellent results.

Personally, I'd say search through thrift stores for LPs and even a Turntable. I got my record player from a thrift store for $10 and it works amazingly, has for about a year now, the most maintenance I've had to do is buy a new drive belt and a preamp so I could actually turn it up to proper volume (all that was about a $60 total). I can't guarantee the same luck with you of course. But that's always the option if you want to go cheap and don't have much of a preference. There's also the internet of course too.

For records, again thrift stores are great. They're usually only a $1 a record. You will see A LOT of repeats in a thrift store record collection, but if you take the time to sort through it, you can find great things. Also the internet is a great way to finding local stores around you and a great way to buy records. I live in Massachusetts, and I buy a great bulk of records from Newbury Comics, seeing as it's closest to me and one of the very few places that has them around me. Buying directly from whatever artist you want also works, it's reliable AND you're directly supporting them and you can also get some pretty cool bundles and deals too! I also recommend Kung Fu Nation if you like any of the bands they support they usually sell LPs of albums they've released.

As for equipment, just find a reliable pair of speakers, I suggest buying a preamp (this is the one I bought and it's amazing. And when it comes to your turntable just be sure to keep everything in proper running order and maintain it.

I hope this helps, happy hunting!

The first 40 games in the SEGA 48-Game Mega Arcade Pack and Sega Genesis Classic Game Pack are identical. The difference is that the Genesis pack (Series 5) contains:

Phantasy Star 2, Golden Axe 3, Streets of Rage 3, The Revenge of Shinobi, Wonder Boy in Monster World, Vectorman 2, Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium, Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom, Dynamite Headdy, and Beyond Oasis / The Story of Thor.

Whereas the Arcade pack contains these instead:

Sonic 3D Blast, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic Spinball, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, ToeJam & Earl, and ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron

I would get the Spigen Rugged Armour case 38mm/42mm and it's apparently it's got impact protection and is made of soft TPU that should protect the aluminium.

The reason I recommend this is because I have used Spigen cases on phones in the past and they don't scratch the devices from my experience. Some clear cases are subject to yellowing due to exposure from the sun.

There really aren't that many things that are specific to apple watch for $10 or less. If you broaden the scope to all Apple branded things, you could buy him an apple mug or poster or something like that. Gift cards are good too

u/PiwwowPants · 4 pointsr/AppleWatch

This one since I bought my AW last year. It is very cheap but has held up this whole time. The charging disc fits snugly in the dock and the sticky tape stuff on the bottom has stuck to my stand, come off, and stuck to a different stand. It doesn't budge and supports night stand mode. For $7.

u/therealcmj · 4 pointsr/AppleWatch

I bought my 46mm LTE about 2 months ago ($380 brand new from Amazon). Prior to getting it, I purchased the Active 2 44mm to try it out since it was the newer watch. It's a very nice watch, and not to knock it, but I really didn't like the way it looked. It's a bit on the feminine side and just looks odd. I returned it the next day solely based off its design.

I have since purchased a Ringke bezel for my 46mm...it looked awesome to begin with, but the silver bezel just puts it over the top.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LGVRPP3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Jc01DbQDW6JXV

I run 5 miles a day with it, and workout at the gym. It records (almost) everything perfectly. Plus, even with LTE on I get outstanding battery life. So not only is it a great looking watch, it is equally a great fitness tracker.

Honestly, this little piece of tech is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

Surely that, coupled with my D2 and the Shure cartridge will surpass my current cermaic-based (Soundesign) TT?

u/Umlautica · 3 pointsr/audiophile

Most turntables (including yours) output phono-level and need a preamp to convert to line-level using a phono preamp (like this). Some older receivers have one built into an input labeled phono.

I use a small dock for my watch and a wireless charging pad for my phone. Both are on my nightstand.

u/Fanatic789 · 3 pointsr/AppleWatch

Looks definitely cool. But I'm always wondering if the material costs are lower than the 8$ stand from Spigen (this one).

Or is it more like a "I created this by myself" thing? :)

You could use these to connect the band to the watch:

I have two items. One is a portable charging case. It's $30 from Amazon:

I also like this charging stand:

It's $4, but is much nicer than having a loose cable, or not having the watch stand up.

  • TLDR: See title, strap from www.strappingfellow.com, adapter from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015GKS3Z2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

  • What I sought in a strap: I really care about quality leather (belt, wallet, shoes are all carefully chosen). I’m willing to pay for it, but I think the Apple leather bands are not good. Enjoy yours if you have one, I’m just some guy on the internet, but the quality to cost ratio on those Apple’s leather bands would offend me if I wasn’t so cynical. I don’t know a ton about leather, but I’ve learned that Shell Cordovan is some of the best in the world, produced in the US. I started researching Shell Cordovan straps that would fit my watch (42mm face, so 24mm band imo). Long story short, when I found strappingfellow.com, it was obvious that this was by far the best bang for your buck. If you’re ready to spend somewhere in the range of $80-$140 on an ideal leather strap, you can either get pretty nice choices that are mass produced, or you can get this customized and tailored perfection from a dude in Virginia.

  • Experience: I exchanged several emails with the artisan/proprietor - Sky - about what I’d like and what options were on the table. He was very responsive and flexible, wasn’t locked into just the set choices listed on the website, and was ready to use the ingredients at his disposal to make whatever strap I wanted. There were plenty of options to choose from, all very tasteful. In the end, I placed the order with the following description (copied from the email):

    -- Black Shell Cordovan

-- With taper (I'm not sure if a 2, 3 or 4 mm taper would be best with such a wide strap. You're the pro, I'll trust your judgment)

    -- Gray threading

    -- Stainless steel buckle

    -- 24mm

-- Wrist measurement: 6 and 7/8ths inches (see attached pic to be certain)

-- Bar to bar measurement: bar begins at 1 and 13/16ths and ends at 1 and 14/16ths (see attached pic to be certain)

    -- No leather backing

  • Look/Feel: Exactly what I ordered and hoped for. I took detailed pictures, hopefully they accurately express that this thing just fits perfectly and is truly top quality leather. I only realized after it arrived: because it’s tailored to your wrist, there’s a small amount of slack left on the strap, you only need one “belt loop” to contain that slack. A pleasant surprise.

  • Cost/Delivery: I got a bit of a discount because I used a coupon code, so I don’t want to list what I paid so that no one gets the wrong expectations, but I paid around $100. It took about two weeks from order to arrival. I got this discount code for 15% off with my order that you all are welcome to use: "104" (full disclosure: I get like 15% rebate if people use this code). Note that it comes with a “1-year 100% satisfaction guarantee."

Happy to answer questions or get more pics.

I have one that looks the same. I got it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0721W3MJ5

I can't stand straps that don't have the curved end links. They just look out of place. This one was easy to install (uses the quick connect pins) and seems to be high quality. I've had it since around Christmas. Only complaint is no fine adjustment to size. You can only adjust by adding or removing a link.

u/Cuddles6505 · 2 pointsr/audiophile

do you have a home theater amplifier? if so if you have empty rca in the back say the dvd,cd player channel isn't being used you can just use an phono pre-amplifier [here] (http://www.amazon.com/electronics/dp/B000A36LQ4)
hook up - [here] (http://www.phonopreamps.com/images/TC-750dB.jpg)
all this is doing is supplying more power needed to register the turntables audio signal a new amplifier may not be the solution
if your saying you have a home theater 5.1 the Marantz PM5004 wont solve any problems (only supporting 2 speakers) you'd need a 5.1 amplifier.

u/hirschmj · 2 pointsr/audiophile

Here's a $20 option, and here's a $40 option that I'm currently using. If you want to spend more you can. Up to infinity.

u/OJNeg · 2 pointsr/audiophile

Vintage turntable: $100

Cartridge: $60 Other good options exist

Basic phono stage: $50

Headphones: $100 Headphones are hard to recommend, but the entry-level Grados are considered good bang-for-buck by most. If you want better sound, spend more on the headphones.

Headphone amp:
This is headphone specific. You probably don't need one. Build yourself a Cmoy if anything.

u/mjdubs · 2 pointsr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

Here's a link to what I'm using..

I gotta say, it sounds on par with the phono stage on my old Marantz hi-fi, if not a little better definition.

u/squarezero · 2 pointsr/vinyl

I use the TC-750 for, you input the two phono ports from the turntable and the output can be connected to the normal AUX or CD line-in on the back of the receiver.

Hey! I'm going to get an AT 120 LP. I have a question - can i buy passive speakers, if I'm also going to buy this TCC TC-750 Phono Preamp. Do i also need to buy a large amplifier in order for this all to work?

Turntable -> TCC Phono Preamp -> PASSIVE powered speakers = is it everything i need for the music to play? Please help me out, i looked for so long and it's still really confusing to me. Thanks a million.

u/scouticus · 2 pointsr/sonos
u/JesusMakesMeLaugh · 2 pointsr/vinyl

I don't know everything about preamps, but I've seen these two recommended for a budget:

TCC TC-750 Black $43.50

Behringer PP400 $23.99

u/tiggyspawn · 2 pointsr/vinyl

Yes, you'll be able to play modern records on old turntables. All records, old and new, run at standardised speeds of 33 or 45 rpm. They're clearly marked on each LP, and you should switch the speed on the controls of your turntable.

Normally when you have a turntable connected to an amplifier, the amplifier MUST have a phono input, otherwise you need to use an external phono pre-amp (They're really cheap - something like this is fine: http://amzn.to/17VJtnt). Old "receivers" or expensive home theatre hi-fi Amps almost always do, but lots of cheaper stereos don't. Sometimes, the turntable has an in-built pre-amp. This means that it does not matter what kind of amplifier/receiver you hook it up to.

I'm not familiar enough with turntables to recommend very many, but I have a NAD c556 (identical to the Rega RP1) which I love, and goes for about $500.
One of the most popular turntables on this site is the ProJect Debut Carbon. It's also great, but doesn't come with a dust cover, which is an absolute must in my opinion (I have one and it's always covered in dust - I can't imagine what my platter would be like if the cover wasn't there!)

Depending on your budget, it can be a good idea to buy a second hand turntable. If you buy a used turntable, you should probably replace the stylus, because you can't be sure how old it is. Old needles in poor condition will permanently damage your records! Great turntables can often (and sometimes speakers) be found quite cheaply at goodwill, or garage sales.

It's also a good idea to get a brush to get dust of your records, and a cork mat, which will help prevent the build up of static, but these aren't essential to making the turntable actually work!

Finally, don't worry if it makes you look like a wanker - You don't have to be an audiophile to buy/collect vinyl, and if you like it, then that's all that matters!

u/staxnet · 2 pointsr/vinyl

I've used and like this one, but this one is popular, as well. I have no experience with the later.

u/soilheart · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

If you don't need Sonic or ToeJam & Earl the Sega Genesis Classic Game Pack may be worth $10 (or worth the wait, as it has gone down to $5 a few time, just be sure it's the steam version).

I ordered the Spigen Rugged Armor and found it was too big and bulky for my taste. I'm not sure if I'm going to use a case at all; I really like the look of the AWS without a case.

I ordered and installed the Armor Suit Military Shield screen protector and am very pleased with it. It covers every part of the glass; contour and all. Take your time installing it!

u/one4u2nv · 2 pointsr/AppleWatch

If you don't want to spend the cash, try one of the armorsuit screen protectors. They're pretty good at covering up scratches on the screen, so maybe it would work for you. At $7 it's wort a try at least. A buddy of mine tried on on his screen that was scratched pretty bad. It completely hid any blemishes.

I've been using the Spigen dock since I got my S1 and it's been great. It's dirt cheap and enables the desk clock/nightstand mode. Soft touch, rubberized feel and takes up very little space on my nightstand. Both include a little bumper to adjust for the 38mm, as they're setup for the 42mm out of the box. Cheap, simple and they get the job done.

Personally I'm an enormous fan of the Truffol band. I have the black PTS and the black band. The black one at least doesn't look as two-toned as it does in Amazon's pictures. I have no idea how the silver one looks. This band feels like something worth a lot more than $40.

u/iBUYStars · 2 pointsr/pebble

The Pebble Time Steel's link bank AFAIK has no half-link to remove.

Your only option if you want that half-link option is to get a third-party link band; Truffol has some great antique link and two-tone metal bands.

u/SomeTechNoob · 2 pointsr/pebble

Basically any watchband with a width of 22mm should fit just fine.

Maybe a band like this, from Truffol: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0111I89ES/

or even a generic milanese band: http://www.ebay.com/itm/361422822265?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=630782740264&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I mean, there are just so many options: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=22mm+watch+band

Considering that the Pebble Time Steel is a relatively new-shipping product(heck, a Kickstarter, still), the delay on the metal watchband is somewhat explainable.

Nevertheless, it's not really an excuse for pebble to include low-quality bands. As for the small screwheads - they're not that uncommon among metal watchbands.

The problem is the removable part, since it is like a normal watch but i imagine this is a problem for all trackers. For the tracking it should have google maps, thus 24h/7d tracking.

No, you can't simply connect the RCA cable to the turntable and the crack, phono voltage out is below 'line level' amounts.

To mirror what /u/andrews013 said, yes the aune is probably the weakest point of your stack. If you want to improve your setup, sell the Aune, buy a proper phono pre-amp such as:

TCC TC-750

Rega Fono Mini (which does have a USB output)

Bugle2

or several others & for dac suggestions I'd probably go with either a Schiit Modi, Henry Audio DAC or JDSLabs Standalone ODAC,

u/firitheryn · 1 pointr/audiophile

I just found this. I'm pretty sure it's for line level input, so you would need any basic phono stage to input to it. I've heard people talk about this one, it gets fairly positive reviews.

u/ytisoiruc1 · 1 pointr/audiophile

All the setups I've seen have the ground go to the preamp. I've seen people reference these

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/vinyl

Thanks for the response!~

Now, is there any particular brand of p-mount cartridge you recommend? Are there any tools I will need to install the cartridge? And I was looking at amplifiers on line (before your comment was posted) and I came across this "TCC TC-750 BLACK Audiophile Phono Preamp" which seems to have gotten pretty good reviews. However would it still be more advantageous to get a vintage amp? Would it wind up costing less?

u/thegreatuke · 1 pointr/vinyl

Could I use Pyle - Mini 2x75W Stereo Power Amplifier with TCC TC-750 and be good? I really don't see the need to have a huge flippin' box when all I'm wanting to drive is a single turntable...but again, I'm wanting to keep as much fidelity as possible. I'm also simply wanting the only thing sitting on my white bookshelf to be the white turntable (aesthetic whore :).

u/Someone-Something · 1 pointr/vinyl

I am looking for a more compact setup. I currently have a Technics SL-23 sitting on top of a Onkyo TX-80 and it looks horrible. I am also using JBL 2500 bookshelf speakers.

My question is this: Will [this Pyle Amplifier] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001P2R1RW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=13XYWXZAWR3J1&coliid=IQ10TXTENCS80) and a [TCC TC-750 BLACK Audiophile Phono Preamp] (https://www.amazon.com/TC-750-BLACK-Audiophile-Phono-Preamplifier/dp/B000A36LQ4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1464799060&sr=1-1&keywords=tcc+phono+preamp) give me close to the performance (if you can call it that) of the Onkyo? Would a Rolls VP29 also suffice for a pre-amp?

Thank you for any input.

u/LetsSaveEm · 1 pointr/vinyl

Hey guys! I've been lurking this subreddit since I picked up my first record a couple months ago. Since then, I've been researching budget turntables, and decided to buy this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F2B3FKI/ref=twister_B01KI5736U?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 turntable and this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A36LQ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 pre-amp.
I went scouring the pawn shops today and came across this http://imgur.com/a/2Lt0j amplifier. I liked the look of it, and figured you couldn't really go wrong with an '89 or '90 Kenwood amp. I took it home for $50, and realized there is no volume control! Apparently this model (KM-208) was originally sold with a pre-amp that had all of the volume controls. I have 30 days to return it, but if possible, I wouldn't mind rigging up a volume dial. Is this amp worth the work, or should I return it? As of now I don't have any speakers, but I'm willing to spend up to $250ish. I'm also considering building my own with the same budget.

TL;DR I'm new to vinyl ad so far have collected a TT, a pre-amp, and would like your opinion on the amp I bought.

Thanks for reading. I'm looking forward to your feedback!

u/livingspeedbump · 1 pointr/vinyl

Well you would plug the record player into the "input" of the preamp, and them from the output of the preamp you would go into any "input" of the Yamaha. So CD, AUX would be a good bet. And then yes, after speakers, you are good to go.

Here is a phono preamp for even cheaper. ;)

Hi there, complete newbie here, just ordered a JVC AL-F3 automatic table for my first one. They said it comes with an Audio Technica SLT88E needle/cartridge. I just had a few questions/reassurances from the beginner's guide.

I assume I will need to get a new platter(I think that's what they are called?, the thing that goes below the record)

Do I have to get a new cartridge right away?

I was looking for a preamp for it, was thinking this maybe? Any other recommendations? https://www.amazon.com/TC-750-Audiophile-Phono-Pre-amp-Preamplifier/dp/B000A36LQ4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1198035223&sr=8-1&tag=Audioreview-VigLink-Convert-20

also if anybody then had some passive speaker recommendations, something cheap preferred

u/vinyl_SS · 1 pointr/SubredditSimulator

I never play a record on RSD the same as the tone-arm weight? If you can swing it, I'd go for their preamp, or this one if you use it more than probably half the record.

u/explosivo563 · 1 pointr/vinyl

I have seen the Grado black recommended, but it's probably outside my price range for my first upgrade, as it's worth more than what I paid for the TT. I also read that conical is better for older records, because an elliptical would make the pops and clicks louder, is that true? I just started so I don't have many new records yet, but I plan to. And yeah, I just got the Pyle as a stop gap until I can afford something better. I also looked at the TCC Preamp, is the ART still preferred? Thanks.

EDIT: My setup is a yamaha 3066 (aka 375) receiver, Micca MB42X speakers and an andrew jones sub.

u/adayinalife · 1 pointr/vinyl
u/andrestheguat · 1 pointr/vinyl

What are some suggestions for receivers?

Turntable will be a U-turn Orbit Plus and I'm thinking of purchasing the TCC TC-750. I haven't purchased the preamp yet, so feel free to suggest receivers with it built-in too.

u/glaciator · 1 pointr/audiophile

You could skip the receiver in general if your only input is turntable by buying a turntable pre-amp like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A36LQ4/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=googlcom05-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creativeASIN=B000A36LQ4
Otherwise, I guess I'd do as DrGrinch recommended and use the tape/monitor out on the receiver.

u/ch0c0l2te · 1 pointr/vinyl

cool i'll check that out! I'm planning to use headphones and i already have this phono preamp as well as this amp ready to order. All I need next is the turntable correct?

EDIT: possibly this Samsung SS-3350 reciever instead of that amp and preamp i posted above?

I wouldn’t dare edc my Apple Watch without some form of protection, main reason is because I accidentally hit my previous edc watch on the corner of my marble countertop and I’ve been paranoid ever since. You’re wild for running a spartan race without protection LOL.

And the reason I carried fmj its difficult for me to acquire special ammo like hp so I figured it’s better than nothing, but luckily I recently found a seller of 45 hp so I’ve taken the liberty of loading my mags with those.

Yeah, this one. Series 1 and 2 are same form factor, so there is no variance in case size/ shape between watch series. You have to use the screen protector that comes with it, though. Any other screen protector that wraps the edges will not work with the case. Just a heads up ;)

I've worn G-Shocks most of my life. I iust love how bulky they are. I highly recommend Spigen! The case is sold separately from the band but I have piece of mind when wearing it. The general attitude towards cases on this sub is generally no, but given certain environments I can see why it's a good idea.

Unless you're going swimming (full watch submersion for long periods of time), you probably won't need the catalyst case for the Apple Watch.

For rough physical environments, I recommend using something like this Spigen case. You'll save a great deal of cash compared to the catalyst but also have adequate impact protection.

Ah, I didn't realize the dock worked like that. It is expensive for what it does, though, I agree. I just connect my puck charger to $8 Spigen plastic dock. Edit: That's gonna be a no on the watch stand. The charger fits but the watch doesn't sit right for it to work.

u/dskatter · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Charge your Watch every night, treat it well, and it'll treat you well. :)

A cheap little nightstand dock is a good purchase, makes it a regular place to charge the device overnight and keep your charging puck stationary. This is the one I have, but you can find others that work just as well, and its from the Spigen offical eBay store: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spigen-Apple-Watch-Stand-S350-Compatible-Apple-Watch-Night-Stand-Mode-/252020890753?hash=item3aad9d9c81

A charging stand. Even just the most basic ones like this or this. Obviously it's not a big deal to stick on the charger normally, but when you have to do it every day/every couple of days its worth streamlining and a stand will make it practically effortless to just drop it on the charger.

Alternatively also worth considering a combined watch + phone dock, if that appeals to you - when I got my stand I didn't want one of those because they almost all hold the watch vertically which would negate nightstand mode. Now as of watchOS 4.3 there's a vertical orientation nightstand mode, so a stand like that is more viable.

Been really happy with this Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet I got on Amazon, it's my new default. Only downside is that the Spigen dock I bought to use with my older lighter band is mildly incompatible -- the weight of the band causes the watch to rotate down off the charging surface (I have to prop it up to keep it horizontal).

I also ordered this metal band. It seems very solid. My only gripe is that it does not have micro-adjustments and is a smidge too tight for my particular wrist. Adding in one more link makes it far too loose:

I have it too, exact same band I think. I like it, and this one is in stock.

u/dressedindecay · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

Amazon. Specifically these ones.

u/ProdesseQuamConspici · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Amazon has band adapters that let you use any "normal" band with your Apple Watch. So if you've seen a band you like on non-Apple Watches, and can find it, then you can use it on your Apple Watch.

u/prolongedrpinterval · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

You can buy any strap and just use an apple watch adapter like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011RQIIDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UOqZBb8ZX8KPB

I did this with a fossil rubber watch band and it looks great

u/blazedshaggy · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Yes I don’t trust the type of band adapter he shows on that post. I like this kind of adapter better. Less likely to fail in my opinion.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011RQIIDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_PB0VCbN99ZZZ2

u/travvvvvvv · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Keep in mind another option is to buy your own adapter (two common styles 1, 2), then you can use literally any watch strap that's the appropriate size.

u/mattdev · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I have two. The Luvvitt adapter that everyone here loves, and this Wearlizer adapter. I definitely prefer the Wearlizer, but I wish it were a better match for the SGS.

u/Sicsdeep · 1 pointr/iphone

Adaptor

A little harder to install if you don't have a spring tool but it can be done.

u/LeicaDad · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

This is the one I use: Wearlizer
Better than the other kind, but the lug part is also narrower, so you just need to make sure the strap will fit.

u/inz_ · 1 pointr/AppleWatch
u/mega_brown_note · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

My S2 with WatchOS 4.3 doesn’t turn on when in nightstand mode and I tap the table. Is this an S3-only feature, or is my stand the problem? FWIW, I can flick the stand with my finger and the watch won’t turn on.

Edit: Figured it out. “Wake screen on wrist raise” must be enabled. Bummer, I don’t use that feature because I don’t like the watch surprising me with its bright display in unexpected circumstances.

u/jokerswild_ · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I use a similar one - but slightly more rounded. I, too, would recommend it.

Title: [USA-CA][H] 44mm Apple Watch Series 4 Stainless Space Gray w/ Black Apple Milanese, Black Nylon Loop and Storm Gray Nylon Loop [W] PayPal or Trade for MacBook Pro

Username: /u/Heliodjent

Body:

Order conf. from Apple https://i.imgur.com/Dcuufca.png

Timestamp

Model A1976
or
MTV62LL/A

Bought on the 21st of Sept from Apple. Letting it go because I switched from a professional job setting to a more physical one and I'm worried about damaging it, and can't wear it all the time.

The Milanese band was used once then stored away as I preferred to wear the black loop. The black loop was purchased several months ago. The storm gray loop is essentially brand new, maybe worn a dozen days.

Everything on the watch functions 100%. I currently have it on Verizon but I doubt that matters.

Will of course come with the oem charging cable and I can throw in the dock i used to charge it as well

Asking $750 and that includes shipping to US48. Will also consider trade for a MacBook Pro.

This stand for $10 is my favorite accessory so far.

u/dalethomas81 · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I would recommend an adapter of this style if you can. They are more sturdy than the pin style and would be less prone to breaking and dropping your watch.

u/nextgeneric · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I got similar adapters at a fraction of the cost here. They were great.

u/bmf666 · 1 pointr/GearS3

I have had this one from OMOTON on my watch for over a week now and I very much like it. It comes with absolutely everything you could need for install, almost completely covers the face (leaves about maybe a .5mm gap which really isn't very noticeable and never bothers me), is crystal clear (has had no real effect on how the screen looks to me), and didn't affect touch sensitivity in any noticeable way. I'm very happy with it.

u/RolandMT32 · 1 pointr/GalaxyWatch
u/kam0706 · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

Well, it prevents the glove from contact the watch, so yes.

I have one like this

u/doogm · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

> Seems pretty un intuitive as they already have auto pause as a feature you can turn on/off. What gives?

Auto-pause is only for running workouts.

I like the press both buttons pause for pausing when it is raining out and I have locked the watch. (The same would be true I am sure for swimming workouts.) And sometimes you want to pause for other reasons while running (e.g., you see your neighbor on the street walking the dog and stop and chat for a bit while the neighbor continues the walk.) Though I have to say that half the time when I try to press both buttons it doesn't actually work, thinking that I was pressing one button or the other. It's a lot more reliable to swipe right and press the pause button frankly. Still, that's something you can't do when the watch is water-locked.

But I agree with the suggestion to change the watch orientation for workouts when you play hockey. The same thing has happened to me when I run-in the winter with gloves on. Another idea if that doesn't work out is an armband. See https://www.amazon.com/Twelve-South-ActionSleeve-Armband-Apple/dp/B01MY2ENNT

u/dmetzcher · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

I love this stand. I bought one a couple of months ago and it’s been on my nightstand ever since. I like being able to just pop the watch into it and take it out when it’s charged without having to touch the charging cable.

I paid $10 for it on Amazon, but for those willing to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive from China, you can get it for less than $7 on AliExpress. It comes in the off-white pictured and in black, but the black version will cost $12 on Amazon.

u/bigdogxxl · 1 pointr/AppleWatch

You could always look at getting a used one from whatever your Craigslist equivalent is.

Otherwise, there are keychain docks like this that might be harder to lose if attached to something important like keys.

You could also check out a portable power bank to charge your phone and watch, but you'd be looking at a bigger price tag.

A tachymeter is used to measure the speed of something when you know the distance its traveling.. e.g. if I know point A to B is 1 mile long and it takes X seconds to reach point B you can do some math to approximate the speed.

For me it's just a cosmetic thing since I could never remember specifically how to use it without looking it up. And I have no need for it anyways.

I like how easy it is to swap, you can go from silicon to milanese in seconds. No tools. Some regular watch straps have the pins you can pull easily but not all of them, like the metal ones or else.

And I haven't seen very similar looking silicon bands to the Apple bands, Nike's either, for example.

I'd basically want the female version of this
