Are you talking about these pods? https://www.amazon.com/Aozita-Silicone-Bites-Instant-Accessories/dp/B07LFV3F14/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=silicon+instant+pot+egg&qid=1573667098&sr=8-6

Do you use cooking spray or anything on the silicon pods?

I eat eggs every day but I just boil them (sort of soft, with runny yolk). I'd like to try to make those egg bites (like Starbucks has) in those pods.

Three things:

Acidulate the water with an ounce of vinegar in the pot. It helps keep the egg whites from spreading out.

Don't let the water boil, only simmer gently so the eggs don't break up and become stringy.

Crack the eggs in a separate bowl, before you gently slip them in the water (one at a time). This keeps any broken yolks and egg shell out of the mix.

That's pretty much it. If you feel like you need a handicap, you can use one of these little poaching cups; they come in silicone and old-school non-stick metal.

[$10 butter melting pot warmer.] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IFQJ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_JbVMub1RJ7C8S)

Edit: price, name, and link.

Next on my wish list. :)

Unfortunately, they're not cheap. I've considered the far less costly Presto Hot Topper, but it's more suited to sticks of butter than clarified. Plus, the capacity is too small for the amount of popcorn I tend to make.

Until that glorious day that I do have some extra cash to blow on a butter dispenser, I make due with a small slow cooker and a ladle. This easily accommodates 3-4 pounds of butter, plus it makes it very easy to skim the solids off the top after it melts. Enough clarified butter for gallons of popcorn! :)

It's a crepe pan

u/lol_and_behold · 3 pointsr/LifeProTips

Ok my bad, I always thought crack pot referred to Tajine, but I see there's tons of electrical ones. Thanks for clarifying!

For sure, if you have the storage space that is! By the way, check out this one. I was considering ordering it. It would fit in many different sized pans and would take up less space. poaching rack!

Used to have a crepe maker actually designed like this. It came with a glass plate to dip the pan in, and the handle was designed to arc away from the plate when you dip. It was similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-2-Inch-French-Crepe/dp/B00005NCX0

Bread-shaped egg shaper. It makes eggs...shaped like bread!

Nice. Silicone trivets (the thing you put under a hot pan or pot to protect a table or counter -- look in the kitchen section) frequently have a workable pattern. Holes in right places, flexible, and durable as hell. [Five] bucks and a couple of belts or scarves, and you get to smile inside as your uptight sister-in-law asks you to pass the mashed potatoes.

Why wouldn't you use a Poached Egg Pan? Mine does six at a time.

u/Independent · 2 pointsr/bullcity

What Le Crueset items would you trade for a cherry Morocan tagine? Got a decent mid sized Dutch oven you'd like to trade? The tagine has been used twice, and is essentially new minus the box.

Edit: I'd also be interested in a good heavy, lidded sauce pan.

u/WhatTheGentlyCaress · 2 pointsr/AskCulinary

Agreed. I use this to 'cheat'.

Place eggs in lightly greased pods, keeping them out of the holder for now
When water starts boiling, place pods in holder and add cover (water should not be so deep that the pods are touching the water)
Wait 3 & 1/4 minutes (timing may vary with location)
Take out pods and turn out perfectly cooked poached eggs wherever you want them

This pump dispenser isn't terribly priced at $140

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YK4EYC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_F6u3xbDTVDMZ2

You could put a cheese jar possibly inside this tub and put some water in the tub below the jar top to help even the temperature.

Damn it now I want one. :)

u/Polywoky · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

Maybe an electric warming tray? Not sure how practical it would be though.

You can also search Amazon for 'poach pods' - they're usually silicone and can be lifted out with your fingers. Example

The key is to not let the water get to a boil. Drop the egg in from a ramekin just at the point you see bubbles forming on the bottom of the pot. Regulate the heat so that the water temp is kept just right before the boiling point but the bubbles never break the surface of the water.

Alternatively, braise your eggs in a pan like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Simply-Calphalon-Nonstick-4-cup-Poacher/dp/B0195D03A4

Or do them sous vide.

I have this one and I love it.

> What are egg rings?

These are the ones I have:

u/drinkwineandscrew · 1 pointr/Cooking

If you don't make them very often, try these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Poachies-Non-Stick-Poaching-Bags-White/dp/B006VT2OMQ You can get them in the co-op as well, don't know about Waitrose.

Only things I do differently to you is to put the egg into a ramekin and add a few drops of white wine vinegar, then leave for a few minutes. Use as much water as possible, bring to a boil, whisk and then turn the heat off and pour the egg into the vortex slowly from the ramekin. Mine have got a lot better recently since adding the vinegar to the egg first, though I have limited scientific knowledge as to why it would work.

But I think I misunderstood your question, because the pan seen at the twelve minute mark, is indeed a small paella pan, as scepticalchameleon wrote

u/Beer_lips · 1 pointr/smoking

Something like the bottom of this should cover both drip pan and heat diffuser. (found you an amazon uk link) as long as its not too snug and taking up too much room.

u/vocaltalentz · 1 pointr/keto

Hmm I can't seem to find the exact brand I have, but I did find this which is pretty much the same idea.

u/vespolina12 · 0 pointsr/keto

I cheat and use these things for poaching eggs:
http://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Egg-Poachers-Set-Premium/dp/B00IOD3NQI/ref=sr_1_4?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1411691651&sr=1-4&keywords=egg+cup

And I know that technically, it's not poaching. But it's easy!

I also like the "blender hollandaise" recipes - just google that.

u/The_Paul_Alves · -5 pointsr/LifeProTips

Most people don't know how to cook eggs and use <edit>a lot of OIL</edit> to do it and fuck up the eggs all kinds of ways.

What we're discussing here is getting an egg shaped like McDonalds so it fits onto an english muffin.

This is impossible without an egg mold of some sort. You can buy them from Amazon for a few bucks.

http://www.amazon.ca/Kitchen-Cooking-Silicone-Poacher-Pancake/dp/B00B4R7AH4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_79_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=418Bc5-IynL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=13S60N2Y6F5XY462CEBN
