I live in Florida so I haven’t experienced this but I’ve seen people with this on before

I have these from amazon and they are so soft with a flat extremely comfortable waistband. They’re high rise, but they don’t compress and give a good non bumpy line under shirts.

I wore these leggings all the time from about 2 days postpartum. They are super comfy and I still wear them all the time. I bought 3 pairs. They have enough compression to make a difference but weren't uncomfortable like a binder might be. My tummy was pretty flat, pretty fast afterward! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071HWL8L6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_JEajDbJSQCMTT

tl;dr: Material for shells under suits and blazers?

Hi, I've combed through the archives here and not found anything that addresses this.

What should shells be made of?

I'm looking for shells to go under some nice, classic silk suits I got years ago at Ann Taylor Loft (I had silk sleeveless shells but tossed them when they got stained). I'd also like the shells to go under nice sweaters.

What cloth should I look for? Is cotton okay? Is there a difference between a tank top and a shell you can wear as business or business casual?

I found these as examples of what I'm thinking about:

This has a cowl, made of rayon and spandex. Can I wear it with a suit coat or a blazer or a long open sweater?

This is a high neck, sleeveless tank, made of polyester. Same question: Can I wear it with a suit or blazer?

This is more like a tank top, mostly cotton with some spandex, but it claims to work under blazers and such. Is that true? It's a bit more revealing than the shell I linked above. Would it work for business / business casual?

Last one: This tank top is the lowest cut (but I don't think it's too low...). Again: acceptable under a suit or blazer?

I don't want to spend a lot, since I only need business or business casual clothing about once a year. Since I don't work in an office, I don't see people wearing this kind of clothing, and the clothes I see when I search for business or business casual seem a bit flashy for me (I'm a really conservative dresser, especially when it comes to color), and they never say what material the shirts or shells are.

Thanks for any help you ladies can offer.

Thanks a bunch for your response!

I do use the timer on my watch quite a bit at work, but I need to replace it soon and I'm not opposed to switching to something a little more feminine. Maybe something like this, this, or even just this? (My wedding band is silver, which I assume matters for metallic-colored watches.)

I do sometimes wear zip-up hoodies in lab, but I know I can't be mad when those make me look like a kid. :) I have a few cardigans that I really like, so I'll see about adding some more to my wardrobe. And I can make an effort to wear blouses more often. Sometimes I worry about wearing clothes I like to work because of how often I'm over at the mouse facilities, but that's not really an excuse, since I'm already in the habit of changing pants before heading over anyway.

Thanks so much for the shoe suggestions. Those are all lovely and along the lines of what I was picturing, but I didn't know the names (again, I suck at shoes) so I was having trouble even googling them to confirm the look.

I'm not the most experienced winter runner but I usually wear a long sleeve tech tee. I bought some inexpensive, form-fitting shirts on Amazon and they fit similar to a base layer that I'd wear in winter--I think that's a little more comfortable than a baggie shirt.

Hey everyone, Ive been needing to buy some more workout tanks as my current ones are about to look like they've been sucked into a category 5 hurricane.

I like wearing high waisted leggings and a shorter workout tank top. It's not too cropped to the point where you can see the top of the waistband, but it is definitely shorter than most womens tanks I see at the stores. Why do they make them so long? agh

Anyways, do any of you know of any brands, or any work out tanks that arent about to be floor length gowns? haha. More of a slightly cropped look.

Example of what I am NOT looking for.

This is closer to the length that Im looking for...although this one might be a tiny bit too short. But just to get you the idea.

Thank you so much!

Try these! I have a huge head and they fit me, lol.

Glad to help! IMO Those As Seen on TV "Miracle Copper" Socks have almost no compression so I find them beyond useless, but these offer better compression and are actually cheaper (I'm sure there might be even better compression socks in a higher price range but I'm frugal : ))
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y2W3DVN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I also like that they are in a multipack because you probably don't want to wear the same socks more than 1 day without washing and probably won't have time to wash and dry the 1 pair between days. These have even more compression: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072S43822/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . With all of them make sure to get the right size (for example I have wide feet and larger calves so I tend to go for large or mens).

Have you looked for larger compression socks?

That jacket looks to be similar to this one. For the single black line on the front shoulder part, you could get some black fabric from a craft store and cut out the same design shape then sew it or use fabric glue/tape to apply it to the jacket.

This jacket is less expensive and would work too. If you want the black zipper line on this one, you could get some black acrylic paint and use a brush to paint this part as well.

I have a pair of these. It is one of 4 pairs of sleeves and I haven't noticed a difference between brands. The company also has socks but I don't wear compression socks, just sleeves.

Try the type of activewear leggings/shorts that have the specific phone-sized pocket on the thigh, like this.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WVFQZFD/?coliid=IIAVYP87EFKH6&colid=2EDK1KUK4W2X3&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it My boyfriend just bought me these. Love them. They come in full length too. I either wear them with a shirt that hits at the hips or a tunic. I wear them under skirts and dresses, too. I make it work for me because I think my ass is fabulous? :D Try them with a denim mini skirt.
