Have you had a look at Auspost's prices for this service?

$24.95 base price + $5.95 for every 500g...

lets look at a typical skateboard on amazon... free shipping to the US which is nice... 5 pounds weight (2.27kg) ... charged at 2.5KG with the base weight that is $54.7 for shipping. That's the minimum, It could be higher if the cubic weight is higher than the actual weight. (Height x length x width ÷ 5,000 = cubic weight)....

I'm just not sure how the value of this service stacks up against other forwarding companies.

Edit: Btw amazon does ship that item to Australia and put the shipping costs at AUD 23.72 and shipito's calculator says $46.49 is the cheapest option for 2.3kg.

I use to skate a lot as a kid and just recently got back into it casually. I bought a positiv complete from amazon, and for the money it is hard to beat.

I've actually been doing some reading on this. So although, I might not be 100% on everything, I can give you the gist of my research.

Longboards come in a bunch of sizes and have dedicated task. Then tend to promote stability at the sacrifice of maneuverability, and depending on the size of the board it'll have a reversed kingpin truck. These promote stability in carving motions by putting the turning emphasis on the front truck. Standard kingpin trucks puts the turning on the tail. It's why you can tic tac easily on skateboards and not full sized longboards. One type of longboard is the cruiser. They are easy to push and meant for minor task like commuting and bombing mellow hills. You can obviously do other stuff on it, but that's the general expectations of a cruiser. They can resemble the typical longboards or oddly shaped skateboards. They tend to get grouped as a whole as longboards no matter the dimensions.

Cruisers can look like this, this, this, or this. Penny boards are pretty much smaller plastic versions of the 3rd board. They are lightweight, and the large and soft wheels makes it easy to ride a large variety of surfaces without much work. Some people like them, but I can't stand the things. They flex too easily. It's too small which makes it harder to do pretty much everything but carry it. They are slippery, and the tiny tail with those tall and oddly shaped trucks makes it super hard to pop. The larger variants are Nickel boards. They aren't as bad, but I would still prefer to get a wooden board with griptape. But technically, they're cruisers and thus grouped in the longboard family.

Other longboards include downhill, dance, freeride, freestyle, and cruising/carving

Technically they're all skateboards, but the way we're using the term, skateboards are typically used for cruising and tricks and have smaller wheels because of it. Again the standard truck puts the emphasis on the tail for turning. The size promotes precision maneuverability at lower speeds. They tend to be smaller than longboards, but depending on the setup they can overlap. Popsicle decks are the norm, but you'll find people skating all types of shapes. For example old school freestyle decks are much flatter and tend to be directional. Some decks can double as cruisers and park decks as long as you have standard trucks, a tail, and change the wheels out. They won't be as good as a deck built specifically for the park, but it'll more or less work depending on the skater and the skating being done.

u/ayyitsjameslmao · 6 pointsr/longboarding

I want to get a long skateboard for cruising but I also want to skate hills and maybe do slides, I was looking at this board would it be enough? Thanks!

u/Supermotility · 5 pointsr/skateboarding

Any santa cruz complete is pretty solid, if you get a 26-29in deck, it'll be slightly smaller than a normal deck, and still maintain the cruiser appeal.

u/demonsforryu · 5 pointsr/NewSkaters

Don't buy a walmart board. They will frustrate you and possibly cause you to hurt yourself. They don't roll or turn worth a shit.

Most shops carry completes for just about $70 or so. CCS has darkstar completes for cheap. You can also try the CCS mobile glitch (search on reddit for details), but I'm not sure if it still works.

Shit, amazon has an enjoi complete for just over $75 including shipping.

u/darkpurple_ · 4 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

HEY. If anybody is looking for an INCREDIBLE deal for a little boy, Amazon has a lightning deal going on this skateboard for the next couple of hours. $80 board for $15. I just bought one for my nephew. SO EXCITED because he has been asking for one for every single birthday and Christmas since he was 3 years old, and he's 8 now.

Just thought I'd share. I am quickly becoming addicted to the lightning deals. :P

u/jrob_ · 3 pointsr/skateboarding

I'm looking to start skateboarding. I am 31 years old, never skateboarded before but I want to start. I'm not looking to do crazy tricks or anything like that I just want to cruise around the city.

With that in mind does this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001L8LZOA look like a good beginner setup for hopping from the office to get lunch etc?

u/yuyurashed · 3 pointsr/longboarding

Yup! 😊 thank you!

I'm am currently riding this board
https://www.amazon.com/Quest-Skateboards-Cruiser-Longboard-Skateboard/dp/B01DGRCIKI

The only thing I changed were tbe bearings (bones red).

I was trying to practice the tricks today and when I found it so hard I decided to stick to cruising and carving and just trying to be more stable, balanced, and confident on the board and just enjoying it instead of obsessing over what I can't do but I thought maybe there was something I could do to make the process easier or if there was something I was doing wrong. I read online that alot of people were able to cross step on they're first try and I couldn't even raise my foot without falling off.

One of these Powell Peralta competes will be perfect:

Ok so i've seen these on sale at amazon for like 18 bucks during flash sales. What gives, are these like shitty or something? Are the trucks bad and the wheels plastic? If not i'm probably going to aim for one next time its on sale to help fix up my roommates deck. Please anyone that knows anything tell me about these decks.

u/20skater · 2 pointsr/NewSkaters

is this a good board for starting? it seems to have good reviews

i'll mostly be doing flatland tricks on it and im 220 pounds

just noticed that this is the thread for asking about new setups and removed my other post

u/cap826 · 2 pointsr/skateboards

I did a quick amazon search for you, Landyatchz (might be short for your needs, but portable), Globe, Sector 9, Cheaper Globe, Something around 30-34 inches long would be good.

u/e-paper_tiger · 2 pointsr/boostedboards

I would suggest saving up. I don't know where you are in life, but I made a fun purchase of several hundred dollars right after I got a credit card, and it took forever to clear it out. I'd have been much better off saving.

Just saying about the Mini X everyone keeps suggesting, Amazon has a 5 payments of $199.80 deal. No interest, they just hit your card five times.

https://smile.amazon.com/Boosted-Mini-x-Electric-Skateboard/dp/B07D9XKGF1/

/r/personalfinance might be a good sub for this question, but I'm pretty sure they're going to tell you don't do it. They're just likely to be much more specific about why, and less sympathetic to the concept of spending so much on a skateboard.

u/Pandesal94 · 2 pointsr/boostedboards

i bought the e-go board bag. It fits the boosted board perfectly. I don't recommend it for carrying around but if you need to put the board in something and have to travel through like plane train or car. Its perfect. Here's a link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VOB59N2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

u/Isaacdoge · 2 pointsr/NewSkaters

Is this it perhaps? ( https://www.amazon.com/Santa-Cruz-Powerply-Complete-Skateboard/dp/B001L8LZOA ) If not, can you send me a link of where you bought yours? Thanks!

u/Mattateus · 2 pointsr/skateboarding

This is a solid buy for a complete beginner. I personally own this and I love it, but if they are not totally starting out and have no idea what they want, stick with the gift card because a skateboard is a really personal thing.

u/losersalwayswin · 2 pointsr/NewSkaters

amazon does have good stuff, but you gotta know what you're looking for to be able to filter all the BS. Like It's way would be to much trouble to explain why you shouldn't by this board to someone online. (long story short, it's counterfeit)

It's just simpler to go to a skate shop or at least an online skate shop. If you do decide to go with Amazon for any reason, the best I can recommend is atleast get a board from an actual skate brand. The majority of stuff on there is garbage (or for kids and parents who don't know better/don't care)

u/Neil_Smokethegrass_T · 2 pointsr/NewSkaters

I bought this board on amazon and it's been great for me. My one issue is that the wheels are suited more for park than for street.

But I get the appeal of building a board, I wish I would have done that.

u/Absumone · 2 pointsr/NewSkaters

Look for Blind, Element, Enjoi, Alien Workshop ... completes. The decks are fine and the trucks/wheels/bearings are good to start with, but I would recommend replacing trucks, wheels and especially bearings as soon as possible.

I would definitely recommend this one: https://www.amazon.com/ENJOI-Skateboards-WHITEY-Complete-SKATEBOARD/dp/B002R6NEYE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523712389&sr=8-1&keywords=enjoi

u/DarkkVoidd · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

It’s preference I wear 10.5 and I use a 8.25” board. It depends on what you wanna skate for street and technical skating use 7.5-8, for bowl only use 8.5-9, and for both use 8-8.75. For something good on Amazon I’d say your best bet for all around skating is:Powell Peralta has good cheap skate boards or this Flight deck known to be almost indestructible

u/fl2re · 1 pointr/longboarding

WANTED: Cheap complete to learn sliding/DH on. I'm 140lbs 5'8" and can afford $100 (College Salary). Or trade a Santa Cruz Landshark Custom graphic 8/10 with some cash for a more expensive complete. Shipped to VA.

Might be a longshot but its better than not trying at all.

u/vssff · 1 pointr/photocritique

Thanks!
It's my brother's board (it's him in the photo), I think its "trending" again amongst hipsters :), looks straight from the 70's. It's a Stereo Vinyl cruiser.

u/shadowscott · 1 pointr/ElectricSkateboarding

Looking for my first electric skateboard/longboard. Currently have a conventional longboard. Will mostly be riding on flat, but occasional hills will be encountered (nothing crazy). Looking for anyone who has experience with these two. Price points seem to be fair for what they are. I'm 140 lbs, most riding will be on sidewalk and street. Thoughts on these two? Thanks.

Hey, I saw your first option for a skate deck sold out, that sucks...

Have you considered a Powell deck?

u/chadafer · 1 pointr/longboarding

Hi can anyone tell me what is a good complete board to get as a beginner. I am currently looking at this board. I am looking for a board that is easy to push and will go for awhile, does anyone have any suggestions.

u/Jawbreaker93 · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

To add to this, this isn't a bad board. It won't be the greatest board, but it'll get the job done, since you should start out just riding and getting comfortable. You'll want a better board later, but you don't have to break the bank just yet.

u/kanetic · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

I was thinking perhaps this one for one of my brats and something like this for the other. Ages 13 and 6...but I know basically nothing about skateboards. Back in the day, I dated a guy who rode a Double Vision board, but that was more years than I care to count! The reviews look good, but I'm a freelance writer and see jobs posted all the time for "review writing," so I am a bit hesitant to trust those by themselves.

u/kingarthersixties · 1 pointr/skateboarding

Is this a good skateboard for a beginner that's never stood on a board before? It says it's good for beginners but wanted more opinions just to make sure. Thanks

u/deathfaith · 1 pointr/skateboarding

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get my first board. I'm 20yo and 145-ish lbs--size 10 to 10½ shoes. From what I've seen, I need something from 7.5 to 7.625.

I really don't want to drop too much into it because I have a bad track record of spending way too much on hobbies I decide to not pursue. I've been doing my research, and know what to look for (quality-wise). I'm looking to spend $50 or so for a complete. Nothing fancy. A high quality blank would be fine. Are they any Black Friday deals I should look out for? Here's what I'm looking at so far:

POSITIV Team Complete Skateboard ($59.46): The reviews look really good for the price. It looks durable and high quality. Not sure of the brand, though.

Krown Rookie Skateboard Complete 7.5 ($31.00): I love this damn board. I know it is a lot cheaper, and you get what you pay for, but I like the graphic far more than anything in my price range (I know, I know, don't buy a board for its graphic). That being said, the build quality seems pretty damn good and the brand looks reliable(?). The only problem I found was the bearings were garbage. It's so cheap, though, I'd still have it in my budget to get some.

ENJOI Skateboards WHITEY PANDA Complete SKATEBOARD ($69.99): This looks like the safest option--but also the most expensive. Everywhere I looked said the brand is good quality. Again, though, I really don't want to spend this much.

Any opinions on each of these brands? I don't really care about having a walmart board as long as the build quality is there.

u/Dank_Duck · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

if you just want a start complete, something like this. You could also probably find the parts to get a custom build.

u/BoneslyGrifter · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

No. Honestly 95% of boards on Amazon are going to be garbage and a waste of money. 400-485 pounds? No way haha.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Almost-Skateboard-Complete-Color-Bleed/dp/B07NFB2NDL/ref=sr_1_60?keywords=complete+skateboard&qid=1569170243&sr=8-60

This is about the price range you want to be looking for if you HAVE to order off Amazon, and about as cheap as you should go. I would highly recommend finding a local store or even an online skate shop instead so you don't have to even be tempted by this cheap crap.

u/rayrayww3 · 1 pointr/ATBGE

By Aman Damás on June 25, 2019 Smooth ride, super cool look, awesome wheels. Although my wheels came in marble even though I ordered the above with black wheels. It still looks good with the white marbled ones. I do like the look of the black ones though. see less

u/PeaceLoveUnity7 · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

I can't see the website you linked right now because I'm at work and we don't have filters. I'm not familiar with the Currency rate, but if i recall correctly it's almost double the USD right? So 100 pounds sounds like a 200$ american board. You probably don't need to spend that much. But I don't know the currency rate.

I don't know if you guys can order from Zumiez http://www.zumiez.com/build-your-own-skateboard/ You must have something similar in Europe if not. But check out that link and build one of the $99.99. You really should go for the $119.99 But I know how appealing saving money is to you. And a representative did tell me that some of their $39.99 boards are actually pretty comparable to the 49.99 ones.

Most skaters will say not to buy from a Corporation like Zumiez and say to support your local shop, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Seriously, they best advice someone gave you was to just go to your local shop, tell the guy you want a decent quality board but are looking for savings. They'll show you what you can get for the prices your looking for. But most likely that means spending AT LEAST $100 USD, and probably more. Also, if your looking for savings you should stop looking online where you're going to have to pay shipping. Just go check out your local shop.

Anybody have input on these complete setups for him? I know their good board companies... But for so cheap there must be some catch... Is it the Trucks/wheels/ETC?

I've wanted one forever (skated a ton as a kid). Stereo makes cool ones, too.

Edit: Seems like Stereo's are subpar compared to Penny's.
