hi guys i just bought my first longboard 3 weeks ago and yesterday i hit 40mph!!!
here is my board: https://www.amazon.ca/YOCAHER-Professional-Stained-Complete-Longboard/dp/B00KOP08IU/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1518810865&sr=8-7&keywords=longboard
how can i upgrade it to hit 50mph next time? i think i want ceramic bearings and 97mm wheels.
Don't buy a walmart board. They will frustrate you and possibly cause you to hurt yourself. They don't roll or turn worth a shit.
Most shops carry completes for just about $70 or so. CCS has darkstar completes for cheap. You can also try the CCS mobile glitch (search on reddit for details), but I'm not sure if it still works.
Shit, amazon has an enjoi complete for just over $75 including shipping.
Gonna be honest with you, those boards are trash. The trucks on the first two look made of plastic and I didn't even waste my time look at the third one. Longboarding is a hobby where you get what you pay for, if you pay next to nothing it probably is trash.
However, occasionally you'll get lucky with good sales. Rayne currently has a complete Demonseed with Rayne Wheels and Atlas trucks for $127 which is the best entry price for a longboard besides maybe a mini like a Landyachtz Dinghy
HEY. If anybody is looking for an INCREDIBLE deal for a little boy, Amazon has a lightning deal going on this skateboard for the next couple of hours. $80 board for $15. I just bought one for my nephew. SO EXCITED because he has been asking for one for every single birthday and Christmas since he was 3 years old, and he's 8 now.
Just thought I'd share. I am quickly becoming addicted to the lightning deals. :P
looks like a cheap amazon board.
One my wife picked. It's a Playshion board from Amazon.
She wasn't sure if she would like riding and didn't want to spend too much.
For light cruising it's fine but I don't think I would ever want to do any serious down hill with it

Hello Reddit, I'm moving to a home about a mile away from the subway soon and decided instead of catching the bus that I'll get a longboard a ride instead. I'm a newbie when it comes to this so I just want to be steered in the right direction. I'm looking into these decks right now from Amazon, what do you all think? Should I look into a specific brand? What's decent for cruising? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make a good decision. I don't want to exceed 150 dollars on the deck and accessories.

Ride on buddies. Appreciate any help <3
It's a toy. No range. 1.5 km. No speed.
Read the reviews from amazon.ca I've posted here, not the Amazon.com ones, and you'll get a more honest idea of what to expect.

Look for Blind, Element, Enjoi, Alien Workshop ... completes. The decks are fine and the trucks/wheels/bearings are good to start with, but I would recommend replacing trucks, wheels and especially bearings as soon as possible.
I would definitely recommend this one: https://www.amazon.com/ENJOI-Skateboards-WHITEY-Complete-SKATEBOARD/dp/B002R6NEYE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523712389&sr=8-1&keywords=enjoi
amazon does have good stuff, but you gotta know what you're looking for to be able to filter all the BS. Like It's way would be to much trouble to explain why you shouldn't by this board to someone online. (long story short, it's counterfeit)
It's just simpler to go to a skate shop or at least an online skate shop. If you do decide to go with Amazon for any reason, the best I can recommend is atleast get a board from an actual skate brand. The majority of stuff on there is garbage (or for kids and parents who don't know better/don't care)
TeamGee looks like your best option from amazon. Link Besides TeamGee and Boosted, all the other boards are basically Chinese rebrands that probably aren’t worth buying.
I would suggest saving up. I don't know where you are in life, but I made a fun purchase of several hundred dollars right after I got a credit card, and it took forever to clear it out. I'd have been much better off saving.
Just saying about the Mini X everyone keeps suggesting, Amazon has a 5 payments of $199.80 deal. No interest, they just hit your card five times.
https://smile.amazon.com/Boosted-Mini-x-Electric-Skateboard/dp/B07D9XKGF1/
/r/personalfinance might be a good sub for this question, but I'm pretty sure they're going to tell you don't do it. They're just likely to be much more specific about why, and less sympathetic to the concept of spending so much on a skateboard.
I bought this board on amazon and it's been great for me. My one issue is that the wheels are suited more for park than for street.
But I get the appeal of building a board, I wish I would have done that.
I'll be sure to link the video in this post as soon as I get some decent footage. I also purchased another relatively unknown board off amazon which should be here tomorrow for the same price. This board however claims dual 350watt motors(700w total) with the same battery capacity but a lower voltage/topspeed of 29.4volts/12.5mph. Board is shorter at 32" and with smaller diameter wheels but should have much more torque to get me up the hills without embarrassment.

What's the best style of board for carving and just general transportation around a campus? I'm new to all this and want to know what would be good to upgrade to eventually since I have a kinda crappy board
This is the board I have now: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Stained-Complete-Longboard-Skateboard/dp/B00IKZ96F2/
EDIT: I'm looking at the Bat Ray since saw it earlier in the thread and it looked pretty sweet, but I honestly don't have a very good idea of what i'm doing
Ok so i've seen these on sale at amazon for like 18 bucks during flash sales. What gives, are these like shitty or something? Are the trucks bad and the wheels plastic? If not i'm probably going to aim for one next time its on sale to help fix up my roommates deck. Please anyone that knows anything tell me about these decks.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Atom-Drop-Longboard-Blue-Inch/dp/B00EFERXFC/ref=sr_1_1?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1482677831&sr=1-1
So this would not be a good option? the price seems good as most others I see are quite alot higher haha. For my first board I wouldn't wanna spend too much.
is this a good board for starting? it seems to have good reviews
i'll mostly be doing flatland tricks on it and im 220 pounds
just noticed that this is the thread for asking about new setups and removed my other post

Good board? Thinking of buying it
I think they did, but pretty soon I’m getting the https://www.amazon.com/teamgee-Electric-Skateboard-Longboard-Wireless/dp/B07GGTR2X6/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=eamgee+H5+37%22+Electric+Skateboard%2C+22+MPH+Top+Speed%2C+760W+Dual+Motor%2C+11+Miles+Range%2C+14.5+Lbs&qid=1563228767&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0

just do it.
Thinking about picking up freestyle/dance longboarding as a hobbie but money is tight since I'm a teenager with no job yet. But I was wondering if there was a decent board in like the $70 range that I could try out and see if I like it and then I'd buy a quality board. What I found so far was this playshion board for $60 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07443VW75/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_V78XCb4K80XFW) if I could get thoughts on this board or recommendations that would be nice thanks.
How about this one? Seems actually pretty good for the price.
Rayne Longboards Demonseed 42" Wave Camo Drop Through Drop Deck Longboard Complete https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KKP575G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_J11RDb4J5S3KV
Thanks!
It's my brother's board (it's him in the photo), I think its "trending" again amongst hipsters :), looks straight from the 70's. It's a Stereo Vinyl cruiser.
Is this a good skateboard for a beginner that's never stood on a board before? It says it's good for beginners but wanted more opinions just to make sure. Thanks
That would be cool! Rn i was looking at this (https://www.amazon.com/Volador-40inch-Maple-Longboard-Cruiser/dp/B072R1YXYN/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1524711307&sr=1-15&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=cruiser&th=1&psc=1) i know it's not usually ideal but I'm trying to buy from Amazon since i have some gift money there
I can't see the website you linked right now because I'm at work and we don't have filters. I'm not familiar with the Currency rate, but if i recall correctly it's almost double the USD right? So 100 pounds sounds like a 200$ american board. You probably don't need to spend that much. But I don't know the currency rate.
I don't know if you guys can order from Zumiez http://www.zumiez.com/build-your-own-skateboard/ You must have something similar in Europe if not. But check out that link and build one of the $99.99. You really should go for the $119.99 But I know how appealing saving money is to you. And a representative did tell me that some of their $39.99 boards are actually pretty comparable to the 49.99 ones.
Most skaters will say not to buy from a Corporation like Zumiez and say to support your local shop, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
Seriously, they best advice someone gave you was to just go to your local shop, tell the guy you want a decent quality board but are looking for savings. They'll show you what you can get for the prices your looking for. But most likely that means spending AT LEAST $100 USD, and probably more. Also, if your looking for savings you should stop looking online where you're going to have to pay shipping. Just go check out your local shop.
Anybody have input on these complete setups for him? I know their good board companies... But for so cheap there must be some catch... Is it the Trucks/wheels/ETC?

Great entry-level board.

Looking for my first electric skateboard/longboard. Currently have a conventional longboard. Will mostly be riding on flat, but occasional hills will be encountered (nothing crazy). Looking for anyone who has experience with these two. Price points seem to be fair for what they are. I'm 140 lbs, most riding will be on sidewalk and street. Thoughts on these two? Thanks.

Swagboard
Hi! I'm also trying to learn how to skate, is this a good board for someone like me? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWCRX3M?pf_rd_p=183f5289-9dc0-416f-942e-e8f213ef368b&pf_rd_r=8XESKFMSBYD1RCGMMDYR
Natural Blank & Stained Complete Longboard Pintail Skateboard (Natural, 40" x 9) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKZ96F2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I have an intro board: Atom 36'' Drop-through,
As my first board, it has been great. I feel much more comfortable on the board. However, I have begun getting into sliding, and am having trouble getting extended slides.
I guess my question is, is the board itself viable for sliding? Is it just me? If so, what can I work on to get better? I can begin the slide, but I cannot "slide", then straighten smoothly out of the slide.
I only really use it to get around my college's campus. I had this one, but probably need something that will last longer
I would suggest this board (not an affiliate link):
https://www.amazon.com/Alouette-PHOENIX-Electric-Skateboard-Lithium/dp/B01MZC8DCR
It won't go faster then 15 mph, and it won't go farther then 5-7 miles, but for $300 it isn't too bad. You can also get a square trade warranty on it to cover future repair costs after the 1 year warranty is up.
Hi guys.
I love skateboarding and have had one since I was 3...I have had a longboard for over 5 years and I believe it's done its time.
I am looking for new longboards...Ideally I want a good bamboo longboard. I am deciding between a sector 9 boards (https://www.sector9.com/bonsai-complete.aspx) and this one cause its fairly cheaper (https://www.amazon.ca/Ten-Toes-Boards-Longboard-Skateboard/dp/B01L6V7J28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498448564&sr=8-1&keywords=bamboo%2Blongboard&th=1) Which one is a better bang for the buck?
Would you recommend if I should buy a complete board or build it?
They came with the atom board.
Atom Longboards Atom All-Terrain Longboard - 39" , Woody https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01IP5VQBI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7bJ1Cb0Y8714Y
It's such a fantastic ride on sidewalks, road, hard packed dirt paths. It just goes over everything. Things what would stop Street wheels in their tracks, this just plows through.
I have been practicing on Atom longboard. It has the all terrain wheels so really helped me learn the basics easily.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IP5VQBI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Then, I bought this cheap Rimable longboard (with smaller wheels) as well, for more practice. This cheap board's truck was so loose wheels were getting stuck when turning so I had to tighten the trucks.
https://www.amazon.com/Rimable-Drop-through-Longboard-Africa-Pattern/dp/B01H0JQXB8/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1493305810&sr=1-1&keywords=rimable+longboard
My board is arriving tomorrow so hopefully my practice will pay off. Good luck!
It works on hills for me... Both my videos are on a hill.
Amazon it's a 4.3

So wait, why don't you buy through amazon? Do you live outside the US?
Hey all, just bought my first longboard and I'm loving it! Picked up the yocaher drop deck, link to it is here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KOP08IU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468383481&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=yocaher&dpPl=1&dpID=3104BHF2urL&ref=plSrch
Any beginner tips that you all may have for me? Does my board have decent wheels/bearings etc, or should I be looking into upgrades? I am mainly going to be using the board for cruising, but am interested in learning slides. I know nothing about the sport, and any and all advice will be appreciated.
I'm looking to buy a longboard for the first time and I want to spend under $100. The two boards I've been looking at are:
The Quest Super Cruiser
And The Yocaher Professional Drop Down
Which one would be better for a beginner? I'm also open to other suggestions if you think another board would work better for me.
https://www.amazon.com/Volador-40inch-Maple-Longboard-Cruiser/dp/B072R1YXYN :O
I've wanted one forever (skated a ton as a kid). Stereo makes cool ones, too.
Edit: Seems like Stereo's are subpar compared to Penny's.
Another plastic cruiser that might be cheaper
