Not a treadmill, but on other threads I've heard that this stepper is pretty good, especially for the price.

It's compact, cheap, and while it won't last forever most of the people who have mentioned it to me say it's definitely worth $35.

u/ducksauce · 7 pointsr/lifehacks

There are lots of light treadmills that can handle 220lb max user weight, for example this one(weight: 54 pounds, max user weight 265 pounds) or this one(weight 61 pounds, max user weight 220 pounds).

Though if you want something even lighter that can provide an intense workout you might also want to consider a climber like this.

u/llomas01 · 4 pointsr/Fitness

If that’s the case then try to lower the intensity and increase the volume (duration)(?)

Maybe one of these

I used these when I got a hip injury in Highschool.

(Not this one in particular but something like this)

I'm selling:

[Stair climber] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6ZURAW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for sale for $75. See the amazon post for specs and reviews. This works well and it is put together so you can try it out before you buy it. I've upgraded to a treadmill so I no longer need it. It's compact and easy to fold up for storage, so it's good for small spaces.

Fitbit Flex for sale for $35, which includes a package of colored replacement bands, a $15 value alone (wrist bands are the smaller of the 2 wrist sizes). The Flex was bought less than a year ago and still works perfectly. See the amazon post for specs and reviews. I've upgraded to one with a heart rate monitor, so I no longer need it. This comes with the setup instructions, charger, and wrist bands. The black bands are little worn, but others are in good shape.

TV stand with Flat Panel Mount for sale for $50. See the post for specs and reviews. I bought this, but didn't really fit my decor, so put it in storage shortly thereafter. Perfect condition and is assembled.

I live near Oracle and Orange Grove.

I really need to lose weight but I'm not really in a position to go to the gym frequently. I'm self conscious, I only just got offered a job yesterday, and I have a bleeding disorder that causes some serious fatigue. So what I'd really like is this personal step machine. I've done a lot of research on stuff and this one seems best suited to fit my life style. I just need a way to ease into exercising. Having this on hand would limit my excuses for not exercising and help me build up to doing more.

Plus it's only ~$40 so you could use the other ~$60 to gift other people, too! This is an awesome idea and really awesome of you. And I think it'd be great for you to be able to change a couple peoples' lives!

I discovered this sub a minute ago, so I can't speak to any of the programs followed here, but I'll share what's been working for me so far (27/f/5'9"/CW:163lbs):

  • I tend to eat a lot at night, but not much during the day and was never one to eat a breakfast, so I started doing intermittent fasting after realizing I was already fasting for about 12 hours a day. Since the end of last year I've lost 35lbs, but I started my fasting sometime in March. If I was someone that normally ate throughout the day I would opt for smaller meals/snacks that are consumed frequently. On average I would say I consume 1400-1700 calories a day.

  • I walk on my lunches, which helps add some steps to the minimal amount I get walking to and from the train/work/my apartment. Google Fit helps me track how many steps, miles, etc. but I don't think about it too much.

  • I bought a little stepper machine for my apartment, because, although I've had a gym membership for a year and a half, I seem to rarely make it to the gym itself. Seeing it in my apartment makes me want to hop on and use it, which also happened with my pull-up bar. I always find excuses to not make it to the gym (not enough time, no clean workout clothes, etc) so it's nice to have something in my home that prompts me to do a quick 100 steps or a pull up here and there.

I'm still trying to figure things out but I'm over halfway to my weight loss goal (I nearly hit 200lbs last year and want to get back down to 135lbs). Hopefully my methods can be of some help :)

I purchased one of these and am quite happy with it - good for noise, storage, came in a small box. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0016BUR7I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ab wheels don't cost much. Like £10 or whatever equivalent in $ if you're in America.

On leg raises and feeling them in your hip flexors you could maybe make sure you're doing them right. I wouldn't consider myself experienced so I don't want to give bad advice.

u/SidRunsUnshod · 2 pointsr/Fitness

It's a stepper with handles. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B017JMHYLO

Edit: Yes, OP, those steppers are super awkward with a limited range of motion. Those handles are there to prevent people from falling off. Better just to do stairs, if that's what you're after. Good luck!

u/langlois44 · 2 pointsr/Fitness

You can buy a (in my opinion) pretty shitty home exercise ladder: https://www.amazon.com/MaxiClimber-original-patented-Vertical-Climber/dp/B00K6ZURAW

You can buy a very well made, but crazy expensive one: https://versaclimber.com/product/h-consumer-model/

I've only ever used the Maxiclimber, you can definitely get some work in with it, it just feels poorly made. That said, I'm well over 200 lbs and it has held up for me.

u/LadyScrublord · 2 pointsr/Wishlist

Ah, thanks. :) The item in question is this , which says it's "Shipped and Sold by Amazon.com exclusively for Prime Members." I think I should be alright, then...

u/raWorkshop · 2 pointsr/Mountaineering

I've used these and it seems to allow one to short stroke and bias to the stronger leg. Is there a way to avoid that?

Edit: I was thinking this machine, realizing I've never used the versa climber - https://www.amazon.com/Precor-Commercial-Stair-Climber-Console/dp/B00DJ3733M/ref=sr_1_12?dchild=1&qid=1572657128&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A4565380011&s=exercise-and-fitness&sr=1-12

My girlfriend has one of those. She got it as a birthday present from her mom 2 years ago and we hardly use it, but it's held up pretty well I guess. This was the closest thing I could find, but ours is a little different, but same brand.

You should read up on running/walking in the winter time. Here's the link to the /r/running FAQ regarding winter gear. And here are multiple topics discussing the issue. There's a lot of good information out there, and after reading up on it, maybe you'll be more motivated to try it out.

I find it's actually pretty refreshing doing cardio during the wintertime. It does take some getting used to, and you'll have to buy some moisture wicking, insulated clothing, but I find that it's much more enjoyable than running any other time of year (well, except maybe autumn when the leaves are changing).

u/TheseMood · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I get primary exercise migraine, which means when I do cardio I get headaches.

During the winter I ski on weekends and use this stepper on weekdays.

Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the summer!

u/Debilonia · 2 pointsr/TradeOrGift

damn it - not available for me...grr

oh and btw looking at your wishlist i see you have this

do not buy that particular product.the company is good the product is not..the resistance bands break so easily and its really hard to use that machine.

I recommend the one (same company) that is on my bettering ourselves list. its cheaper as well.

u/vankorgan · 2 pointsr/gadgets

This:
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0016BUR7I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jpd8BbDD9VEQ6

...and Google Streetview in a daydream headset are my favorite way to get a walk in. It takes a little imagination, but being able to tour the Taj Mahal or check out neighborhoods we might want to move to is amazing.

u/a1blank · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Amazon has better reviews for this one. No personal experience with either, though (although I'm looking for one to buy).

u/KillerSiren · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Mmhmm I should be in great shape for my buddy

Under the desk peddle machine

Under the desk stepper

I think we've been beat to the punch buddy.

u/OldTallandUgly · 1 pointr/StandingDesks

I mean something like this or this.

I bought this small, portable elliptical:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0016BUR7I/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?qid=1371855969&sr=8-9&pi=SL75

It's small and compact, so it should fit well in your apartment. It isn't as harsh on the joints. You can get some great exercise in the privacy of your home. And you can watch some tv to make the exercise more fun/ interesting/ less repetitive. Plus it's fairly cheap for a personal machine.

I would definitely try to get at least one comfy not-bed piece of furniture — if you can’t afford new, then check Craigslist and garage sales or ask friends or family members. Just one comfy armchair so you can do stuff indoor relaxing while Not In Bed (this will also do good things for your sleep, and make you feel better about not being bedbound all the time)

My personal trick for this when I was living somewhere that had no living room was to just buy a big cheap reclining folding lawnchair — the long lounge style, with a blanket over it. Worked as well as a couch for me, and kept me out of my bed while still in my bedroom.

When I was at my absolute most depressed/immobile/agoraphobic, I decided to try attaching something healthy to the things I was already doing all the time.

I did gentle stuff like walking in place while I binge-watched Netflix, used little hand weights in a chair, etc. Eventually I bought one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0016BQFSS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mH-WCb9KG8PAQ

And a little stationary bike off of Craigslist. Those helped a lot since getting out to a gym was too overwhelming.

I know the cold is brutal there, but if you can — pick a nearby “hangout” and walk there, just for an hour a day. Starbucks or a library or diner.

u/PuzzledMatter · 1 pointr/Fitness

I made a standing desk and stand on a portable stair stepper that I use throughout the day. I stand for hours and haven't had any problems at all as long as I stand on the stair stepper and move my legs around regularly. Plus it kinda feels like I'm floating which is fun. It's changed my life.

Edit: I use a stair stepper that looks like this (although this is not the exact one): https://www.amazon.com/Sunny-Health-Fitness-Stepper-Resistance/dp/B0016BQFSS They are pretty cheap and break every 6-12 months because of so much use. But I think it's worth it for my back health.

I tried to go with things that had already been on my list and to make connections, I hope I mostly succeeded :)

Riddle the First -
Wine cork candles - a perfect Harry Potter accessory! I can just see us using these at Hogwarts!

Riddle the Second -
This is basically a tiny broom maybe for Dobby to ride on?

Riddle the Third -
I had to go with this hat because it's kind of my favorite hat ever... How can you not at least smile when faced with that hat? Also it is an essential component to a spell that makes the target laugh uncontrollably and therefore be incapacitated.

Riddle the Fourth -
This book is a super cute pop-up adventure! It's like going on a trip without leaving your chair. I've also heard that if you utter the right magic words, you can shrink yourself and enter the adventure...

Riddle the Fifth -
My biggest stretch- this is on my list because I have a bit too much junk in my trunk... that I need to "magically" get rid of x_x

For Bonus Points -
Who wouldn't want to see their lil pet in a cape ESPECIALLY when it also actually gives them the power to fly!!! :D

Mischief Managed! Now with extra derp! -.o

I've had this gadget a few years now,
works like charm, add some dumbbells if you want a total body workout. It's not like a regular stepper because you are using your own body weight as resistance. It's also a great core workout because you only want your legs to move and the rest of you body perfectly still. It's hard to explain how effective this little machine is until you've tried it. With dumbbells it's hard to do a full minute without losing perfect form.
