Yep! That's my basement. It's a Weider Club 500. It's over 10 years old now, and they don't sell them anymore. You might find one on eBay or Craigslist, though. Here's the closest thing I could find in Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0041NM0ZU/ref=dp_cerb_3

we use a Power Cage - it is not a "DIY" option but it is very sturdy and very easy to camouflage into a boring vanilla piece of fitness equipment when the orkin man is visiting.

note that we've also added some padding using black pool noodles that we slit lengthwise and wrap around the main beams, that adds padding (which has saved me from more than a few bruises) and makes it look a bit less like an industrial weight lifting rack

Yes quite a few people here have it, like myself. Solid cheap(ish) rack. First thing you need to do is get yourself some new J-Hooks any 2x2 with 1"inch will do. I have these TDS j hooks and will eventually buy these Yes4All j hooks. Titan, Yes4All, TDS, Valor all make accessories that will fit this rack FYI. I'd also suggest getting some plate holders not only for easy storage but to also weigh the rack down.

u/Im_a_Mope · 4 pointsr/homegym

Any of the fitness reality attachments should work, since its just rebranded.

Hey, I got a squat rack that's rated for 600lb on amazon for under $150. I used this specific rack at a high school where it was pretty beat up by football players, so it did get a little wobbly there. But, for just me and maybe a few other people in my garage gym, I have no doubt it will be just fine. Here's the link: TDS Squat Rack

u/Paxtian · 4 pointsr/Weakpots

Here's a US Amazon link

And I was wrong, looks like Valor says these will hold 750 pounds (but the rack itself they say holds 500 outside/650 inside).

u/BillJackShipton · 4 pointsr/homegym

Try something like this or this or this.

Your problem is why I always advise people, buy a FULL RACK; never a half rack. Half racks are half the functionality with all the footprint and pretty near all the price as well.

The Homegymreviews guy is damn thorough. I have this based on his suggestion and it's pretty solid: Titan Fitness T-3 Series 82" Power Rack Squat Deadlift Cage Benchpress Pull Up https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HDVZJ9A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_uiRwzbEKN03N8

Yeah, coop dropped a 500 lb barbell across it during his review and I thought that's what it was rated at.. Sorry for my confusion on that. There's also this for stands:

HulkFit 800-Pound Capacity https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F2DBJSD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xnpZCbKB594Y0

Which adds dip pegs kinda and is rated higher to 800 lbs if you're willing to believe them.

The Ttan t3 squat stand is another good option at right about 300, and lots of options to add attachments and potentially convert to a full half rack in the future if you want.

But I used the CAP deluxe one for about 2 years and didn't have any serious complaints until I was needing the spotters to support more. The only pains were 1) you had to move weights stored on the left peg to change the left Spotter and 2) the j cup lining was tearing up by the end of the first year. But most stands in that range don't have liner anyway I think.

What's wrong with using something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/F2C-Adjustable-Strength-Deadlift-Weightlifting/dp/B07BDH9SFG/ref=sr_1_40?dchild=1&keywords=folding+pull+up+bar&psc=1&qid=1571587967&sr=8-40

I work out in basement with a fairly low ceiling and use a folding pull up bar assembly like the one above.

Nothing beats a real pull up bar, and you avoid all of this band nonsense and having to wear safety goggles.

u/soulsizzle · 2 pointsr/homegym

Titan's T-2 shares those dimensions, so any j-hook made for a T-2 should work for you.

u/Gym-gineer · 2 pointsr/homegym

Here are some more reviews from when it was branded as ironman. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B016QQ39DQ/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_hist_5?filterByStar=five_star&pageNumber=1
The only 1 star reviews are due to grumpy delivery people beating up the box. All those reviews are from before we added the j hooks.

u/FattyLite · 2 pointsr/homegym

I've still got a fitness gear half rack, plan on upgrading to the T3 at some point. Got these in last night and did a few test sets and they seem pretty solid, just FYI.

I've tried to do dips on rings, but I just can't get a feel for them. I've missed dips.

It does not look like the PR-1000 has the horizontal holes for the multigrip bar. Looks like it just has the holes on the uprights for the pull up bar.

I'm just getting started on setting up a very simple basement gym and I'm having a hard time choosing between these two racks.

The Fitness Reality 810XLT seems like the most common beginner rack and comes with a bench for $345. I'd probably want to add on J-hooks and weight holders though, which will add around $60 to the cost. Even more if I want to add the dip bars

This Vanswe rack has caught my eye and comes with pretty much every attachment I could need for a total of $399, except it doesn't include the bench. I haven't been able to find many reviews for this guy but it seems like a slightly better quality rack than the Fitness Reality one?

Does anyone have experience with either of these racks and can help me break the tie? I'm also open to recommendations for a cheap adjustable bench to go with the Vanswe rack

>and bar. Are manuf

Other quotes further down have it closer to $250-350 plus all the build time. This one on amazon is in that same range and has taken a beating with >400lbs no issue. But yes, titan, rep fitness, etc are all good alternatives in this price range.

Merax Athletics Fitness Power... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BQLLPCV?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf, I had a discount and gift cards to bring the price down, decent rac for the price, make sure you have a good wratchet set to tighten it

u/BalzacTheGreat · 1 pointr/homegym

I would recommend these J hooks. I just got 2 pair of them for my Titan T2 and they’re killer. Plastic on every surface the bar touches. Super well-built and the set screw in the back keeps them solid on the rack:

I know this is bodyweight fitness but I'd swap the power tower for a barbell rack. You can still do pull ups. Use a barbell for height-adjustable rows. Attach rings or a TRX. They also make attachments you can buy for dips. Plus you can do weighted squats, presses, deadlifts, etc., if you ever want to.

The thing about those power racks that bothers me is that if the dip bars aren't set a comfortable width for you, that function becomes worthless and you're left with basically just a pull up bar. You can't make it wider or more narrow to account for your shoulder width. And doing dips on equipment that doesn't suit your body can seriously mess up your shoulders.

u/wizardsfan13 · 1 pointr/homegym

It looks like the Valor Fitness attachment that goes with that rack to answer your first question.

u/samiwillbe · 1 pointr/homegym

Used would be a great way to go if you can find something you like. This PowerLine rack plus lat attachment would also be within your budget. I'm guessing most people on this sub will recommend a "clean" rack for basic barbell lifts rather than something like that Weider with all the gizmos, but it really comes down what you want to use it for.

u/Cincy_OTR · 1 pointr/Fitness

Would you prefer a simple cage or dish out some more $$ for a combo machine like this

u/Tagarra · 1 pointr/homegym

Ordered this a year ago. I bought it thinking I would get a full rack after a few months, but the stands can take a beating and are rated for 500#. So until I break the stands or I add 200# on my squat, they aren't being replaced.

u/jnyx987 · 1 pointr/homegym

I have the same rack, love it. I put the whole thing together then realized I had to take that cross bar off to put he lat pulldown on.

How do you like it? I have the exact same setup but I got these J cups for inside the rack.

I put the oem ones outside

u/three_rivers · 1 pointr/homegym

I used to use a similar design. It's really hard to use safely if the weight your lifting is heavy enough that you're close to failure after 5 reps.

It wobbles and moves around quite a bit when you're racking a heavy squat or bench press.

I would look at something a little more stable like this:

I've always hated going to the gym fighting with other people for equipment and altering my exercises around what is available. I also let the distance from my house creep in as an excuse. It resulted in a lot of fuckarounditis and quitting for long periods of time. Best thing I have done was get some proper equipment for my garage. I am addicted now.

I had some weights, a bench, a short olympic bar, and two olympic dumbell bars I got off of classifieds awhile ago. The bar sucked since it was so small. I never got into using it for years. I decided to finally get a real bar and a power rack. I also supplemented my olympic weights a bit. It has made a HUGE difference in the quality of my workouts. The power rack allows me to push myself a lot without the use of a spotter.

Below is the equipment I got and can absolutely recommend all of it. The bar has the perfect amount of knurling to not rip your hands up. The weights are not works of art, but cheap and perfectly suitable.

PowerLine PPR200X Power Rack

Body Solid 7-Feet Olympic Bar

Cap Barbell Free Weights

Lockjaw Olympic Barbell Collar

My bench is kind of a shitty bench that came with all the other junk I purchased earlier. Not sure what would be good if I was in the market right now. You can modify the power rack to hold some of your plates, but a weight tree isn't expensive and laying weights on the floor isn't a problem at first. A pad is pretty much necessary for dead lifts and you can pick up 3/4 inch rubber horse stall mats at those farm feed store for about $45. Get on a program like SS and this is all you need until you decide to move to splits, giving you plenty of time to slowly add more equipment as you find it.

When I finish SS I will pickup the Ironmaster 75 lb Quick-Lock Adjustable Dumbbell System and I already ordered the Powerline PLA200X Lat Attachment, both of which get great reviews.

Overall you will save a ton of money on membership fees in the long run and it's really hard to make excuses to not workout. The equipment is a joy to use.

Get these ! Really good padding that will protect your barbell.

u/Rhynegains · 1 pointr/homegym

In case you were looking for more, it looks like new ones were released by fitness reality for their own gear. Unfortunately it's all chrome so you would want to add padding.

They added a bunch of accessories, though there's no reviews yet. From experience on the cups that can with the rack, that chrome wears off.
