Duct tape or zip tie that shit and tough it out 'til Friday. Get rid of everything except for a large back pack worth of necessities. Get a weatherproof bag WITHOUT HOLES IN IT and some rain gear. Put things you don't want wet in the bag. Keep only your most comfortable set of shoes and a back up pair for rainy days. Three changes of outerwear and 5 changes of underwear, as many pairs of socks as you can fit, and a thirty day supply of toiletries stored in a weatherproof container. Get a good backpack and keep it physically secured at all times. I recommend https://www.amazon.com/Condor-3-Day-Assault-Pack/dp/B0086UAF9M for the pack, https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/5ive-star-gear-gi-spec-waterproof-laundry-bag-od-green-690104217680.do?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwihi_e-ksXdAhUIEawKHZeGDb4Q9QEwAXoECAQQCA for the weatherproof bag, and https://www.amazon.com/Military-Goretex-Waterproof-Parka-Jacket/dp/B01BFBHYFG for the rain gear.

Does your pack have any horizontal webbing on the hip belt, or MOLLE webbing even? If so, how about a roll-up dump pouch?

Money no object? Blue Force Gear Ten-Speed Ultralight Dump Pouch. I use one of these for quickly stowing layers. Weighs barely anything, with a 3.5liter capacity and sized to fit behind larger MOLLE pouches.

Going cheap? Condor Roll- Up Pouch

The best designs roll-up and collapse into a small package. I'd stay away from the more rigid ones, unless you're fine with a 2 to 5 liter pouch just hanging around.

I daily carry a GORUCK GR1. I chose this pack because of how ridiculously overbuilt it is. Prior to getting the GR1, I carried less and I generally still couldn't go more than 6 months at best without ripping or destroying my packs. I also like that it doesn't have much built in organization. I prefer to create my own organizational system rather than use the one mandated by the pack. This is the primary reason I chose this over similar high quality options such as the Tom Bihn Synapse 25.

Also, I know there is a serious lack of cool hacking tools. Unfortunately I am currently in a more defensive than offensive cybersecurity position, so I don't really carry a lot of stuff around with me like I used to when I was red team.

On the front you can see that I have a Grimloc biner in case I need to attach anything to my pack. I also have a Gonex water bottle pouch and a large water bottle. On the back of the pack I have a pouch with my EDC Zebralight on the shoulder strap for easy access while wearing the ruck.

The 5.11 Tactical Rush 12 is about $5 above your max price, but pretty good from the reviews I've seen and read on Amazon. If there's any others I think you should consider I'll update this

Always better to build one yourself.

Here's mine. Might give you some ideas.

You might want to check out the 5.11 rush 12. Lots of compartments and organization.

I have the 24 and the thing is huge. Don't often take it out in the rain so I am not sure how it really does. Supposed to be water resistant though. I have spilled my coffee and others drinks in it with nothing getting inside.

Any serious USA made C-A-T tourniquet.
Usually you can tell by the windlass. I've had one break on me before. Yours there looks like weak plastic. Here's an Amazon link.

As the owner of several Maxpedition products, I gotta say I am almost always happy with my purchases from them.

But to offer up an alternative, I'd mention also that Condor products sometimes offers a decent value. For instance, I own the competing Condor product of what OP posted, which is roughly half the cost, yet is still pretty solid quality.

However, my use is pretty tame, thus the wear and tear has been minimal. I wonder how each holds up in the long term (I own several molle holsters from Condor that are still more than serviceable, even with 10 years of use.)

u/_Untouchable_ · 4 pointsr/diabetes

I've got a smallish bag, something like: zippered pouch that I can carry by hand if I'm going to a stadium or something like that, but otherwise I'm always carrying a messenger bag or smallish drawstring type backpack. Sucks, but part of life, might as well own it.

u/triferatu · 3 pointsr/livesound

You could probably get a tool belt or something like this. i have 5.11 pants, I have a sharpie pocket and sheath for my leatherman. Maybe you can put the wrench/etape on a carabiner and tuck it into a back pocket.

u/FnJUSTICE · 3 pointsr/Nerf

In terms of cheap holders: Condor Roll- Up Pouch

I like them because of their versatility and compact size when not in use. They hold 3-4 12-dart mags and not even peek over the top, so for 18-darts, they're great. I also stuff other things in them when I'm on the move.

The only issue is gear rattle. The mags will rattle around if you have only 3 in there when you run, and if you do weird jumping/flipping shit, there's a chance whatever'll be in there will slip out of the top (but that takes some trying to do).

I run 2 of them on a Condor Battle Belt and I'm contemplating a 3rd.

EDIT:
Also, what you have them on matters! Chest rigs give you more capacity at the expense of restricting movement, while battle belts give you more flexibility and range of motion at the expense of lowered capacity! Try to shape your gear towards your playing style!

u/psykostick · 3 pointsr/EDC

If bigger is better i would probably have to recommend the 5.11 RUSH 72. If your looking for a day pack or something to carry your crap to work then either the RUSH 12 or 24 would also work. While on the quest for the "Right bag for me" picked up the RUSH line of bags and fell in love with the 72, but it was just too massive to carry with me everyday to and from work and around town. I moved to the 12 which was too small as i carry a 15" macbook pro and tools for work, which led me to the 24 which has so far been the perfect size with some space to spare.

5.11 RUSH 72

5.11 RUSH 24

But the 72 is fantastic for backpacking or using as a B.O.B.

i'm a big 5.11 Fan, but i have been eyeballing the TAD Fast Pack EDC, But i need my RUSH 24 to fail miserably before I get one.

This, the greatest carrying case for it by a mile:

Orca Tactical MOLLE H2O Water Bottle Pouch Hydration Carrier (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KN66QRQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_aigQ87ZUVQPJ2

It fits almost perfectly, hold everything and then some.

u/EGOtyst · 3 pointsr/BuyItForLife

If you want a large duffle that will last indefinitely, and you are getting it for FUNCTION, not for brand recognition or fashion, go military surplus. These things go through the ringer and come out fine.

Here is the link to that color, the other colors are a few bucks more. Be sure to emphasize that it is a tactical man purse. It fits my CCW just fine.

u/abuvera · 3 pointsr/army

I bought a rucksack on Amazon for like 70$ second hand.

http://www.knox.army.mil/partners/lrc/docs/ocie_price_list.pdf

This OCIE list says big Army will charge you 75$ for it. Search Amazon for a better price.

These are running as low as 50$. Good luck.

u/mikeknine · 3 pointsr/nursing

I use this. My scrub pants have cargo pockets and this fits perfectly. I invert it and zip it wth the loops and pockets facing out, front side gets shears in the large pocket, red pen, highlighter, dual sided sharpie, pen light, white board marker in the loops. back side gets a hemostat or two thrown in the back side. In the in between or "inside" i slip a small spiral notebook.

The nice part is its easy to grab and go and KNOW I have my basics, and at the end of the day I clip my badge to it when I get to my car so I dont lose that.

YMMV if you dont have cargo pockets it would fit in.

u/butteryreddit · 3 pointsr/FZ07

I have this water bottle holder zip tied to my passenger peg mount. I had a kriega us-10 that was awesome, but somebody stole it right off my bike because it just latches to the mounts on top.

A decent DE razor. I was able to find refills at the local grocery store on Ko Pha Ngan, so even if you don't check luggage and have to through out the blades (not the razor), you should be able to find them anywhere, and a ten pack takes up little room.

A good dry bag. Keep your important stuff in it when moving, wash your laundry in it when you need to without access to a proper sink or washing machine (soap, water, cloths, let it soak, squish for a bit, then hang dry on some 550 twisted cord.) Some areas I've been have showers and not very large sinks with plugs.

Multitool? watch out for knife laws. Japan is strict about knives and I don't know which others are.

An army equivalent duffel bag. No frame so you can pack it along with other stuff in a smaller bag, but it has been used to expand for shopping for longer durations when our smaller packs wouldn't do, unless you are into Furoshiki which uses a sheet of fabric many ways, it is a one use wonder.

u/bluecav · 2 pointsr/WaltDisneyWorld

I just came back from a 10 day trip to Disney World. I carried this from the resort to the park each day:

  • Hat & Sunglasses
  • I wear eyeglasses, so I had one of the Disney neoprene clip on glasses bags for rides they might fall off
  • Wallet
  • Magic Band
  • Pin Lanyard
  • Spare trading pins in a bag to rotate off the lanyard, around a dozen
  • A baggie of pin backs, lockbacks, and wrenches
  • Smart phone (we used the new Disney app a LOT)
  • Small backup USB battery charger if it was a long day (GPS was on so drained the battery)
  • Camera
  • Backup battery for the camera
  • Camera cleaning brush
  • Plastic Bag to cover the camera if it was too wet out
  • Large water bottle

I used a small messenger bag ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TWZGRI ) to carry most everything except my wallet, band, and hat and sunglasses. I mainly had it to protect my camera. I didn't bring a poncho this time as usually you could get under cover until the rains let up, or just tough it out for a short distance to get to the next indoor area. As for sunscreen, I usually put it on in the room before we left.

We had someone in our group with a wheelchair, and we had a backpack hanging off the back with tons of other gear (extra sunscreen, snacks, etc) but other than her medications we honestly didn't need 90% of what was in it.

As for purchases, we just shipped them back to the room unless it was the last day, where we just lugged them around with us.
u/DIDDLY_HOLE_PUNCH · 2 pointsr/mallninjashit

But will it fit in my tactical messenger bag?

u/Rockdio · 2 pointsr/AmeriCorps

Bring it with you. FEMA gives almost everyone (depending on their position) laptops. And they are junky old dinosaurs. The bag they give you has space for almost all of your uniform items, aside from your boots and hardhat, and some personal clothes. A decent sized backpack will more than suit your needs for an additional way to bring items with you. I myself use this as my personal bag. It has more than enough space for my needs.

u/mroystacatz · 2 pointsr/EDC

The Maxpedition FR1, Maxpedition Fatty Pocket Organizer, Maxpedition EDC pocket organizer. All of these organizers are really good quality, and will last you a very long time, also they look cool.

u/nextus_music · 2 pointsr/EDC

it does not, it does have molly on the back, and you can make a paracord belt loop for it. if it is the mini (I have both the mini and EDC version) it will fit in front pocket or cargo pocket very well.

edit: [here is link to mini] (http://www.amazon.com/Maxpedition-Mini-Pocket-Organizer-Black/dp/B005CSYU6K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1371342386&sr=8-2&keywords=maxpedition+micro), [and edc] (http://www.amazon.com/Maxpedition-E-D-C-Pocket-Organizer-Khaki/dp/B002DAL540/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1371342489&sr=1-1&keywords=maxpedition+edc) the EDC is to big for carry imo

As long as I'm not wearing golf shorts, I routinely fit A Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organizer with plenty of room to spare. Golf shorts require that in a front pocket, though, but anything else I could fit more. It currently has my keys, a carabiner, hair tie for my wife, a Gerber Shard, nail clippers, a stylus, some pointy ended tweezers, a mini flashlight, a cheap pair of ear plugs, some coupons, and some receipts. I used to keep a pen in there, but it leaked, and have been meaning to restock my lens wipes, and Shout wipes.

Edits: to correct the link and name the Gerber tool (which I use to complete a circuit to open my garage door, haha), and to add what I need to replenish.

u/must_ache · 2 pointsr/EDC

This 6x6.5x2.25 3V Gear and this 7.5x6.5x2 Condor are two I found when looking for something cheaper than the Maxpedition EDC/Fatty/Beefy, but that still included internal organization loops or pockets.

I for one decided it wasn't worth saving the money to buy the super cheap one, too many unknowns for me. I do trust Condor to make good gear though, I have two of their slings and they are well make from good quality components. I just haven't ordered because I think I might go with something bigger like a EMT bag, since I'm just going to throw it in a backpack.

Selling other items as well:

Never been used 5.11 Tactical RUSH bag: Amazon link - amazon is $100, i'd give it to you for $70

Here's CL post for it: https://richmond.craigslist.org/clo/d/richmond-511-tactical-rush-bag-brand-new/6980718010.html

Also selling Xbox One S 1tb edition with State of Decay disc and one controller/charger cord. Works wonderfully, and I'd be willing to part with it for $200 or best offer. Pm me any questions you may have.

Thanks all!

Yep! I run two in the rush series

  1. Rush 72 (bug out): https://www.amazon.com/5-11-RUSH72-Tactical-Backpack-Military/dp/B0019MPNNC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2YMF5VLO44QJS&keywords=rush+72&qid=1549667428&sprefix=rush+72%2Caps%2C197&sr=8-1
  2. MOAB 10 (get home/EDC): https://www.amazon.com/5-11-Tactical-Sling-Backpack-Style/dp/B004D1SMES?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_2581599011

In case of the big one you connect one to the other and walk. They're amazing. Well made, well thought out, and durable as hell.
u/docb30tn · 2 pointsr/preppers

From my experience as a Medic in the Army for over years and an EMT, I can suggest that you NEVER buy an already built/premade kit. Most of the time you will be paying retail price for all the 'supplies' that it comes with.
A pouch size is good for EDC and can contain a touniquet, foldable splint and a host of ther food FA items. The next size up is like a carry satchel: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TWZGRI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl _encoding=UTF8&colid=3VL0EKUYPM7EJ&coliid=I1EMBKKHXWF36X
This one can contain an IV kit along with minor to small major injuries and ice/heat packs.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002AV2SP2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3VL0EKUYPM7EJ&coliid=I11HV7WVRYCOAY
This would be along the lines of a small to medium trauma bag. Items would include IV kits, bandages (not band-aids) of all sizes, Kerlix, Coban, stitching supplies, minor surgical instruments, drugs for sickness and injury, etc.
I would prefer a large bag, capable of holding 30lbs of medical supplies. That stays in my room or in my trunk if I'm going out somewhere for a longer length of time.
Premade kits have very, very Basic items. You can buy an empty pouch or bag and go to the Dollar Tree and find many items you'll need for cheap.

u/vasaforever · 2 pointsr/drumcorps

I recommend a MOLLE 3 Day Assault Pack or Convoy Pack whether it be from Condor or 5.11. The reasons are as follows:

  • Modular so you can add packs for everything like battery, cables, etc
  • Often has space for water bladder
  • Some are waterproof
  • Very Durable. I have two and carried both on an Iraq and Africa deployment, and used it at all rehearsals, and on tour yearly with no signs or wearing out.

u/HamLuke · 2 pointsr/EDC

Maxpedition Organizers:

  • Extra Small
  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large
  • Extra Large

There are tons of videos on YouTube showcasing size and items most people like to put in them. This would be worth looking into. Some other reputable brands I have seen are Vanquest and Condor. Personally, I use the EDC organizer from Maxpedition in my 5.11 Rush 12 backpack. I highly recommend it.
u/thegammaray · 2 pointsr/onebag

Nope, neither has an external water bottle holder. I think it would be pretty easy to lash a separate water bottle holder onto the side handle and a shoulder buckle, though (e.g. this MOLLE one).

u/GetZePopcorn · 2 pointsr/Libertarian

> Assault Bag doesn't mean anything.

https://www.amazon.com/Condor-3-Day-Assault-Pack/dp/B0086UAF9M

Those are assault packs

u/nept_r · 2 pointsr/EDC

I agree. Seeing the same 5 items, often literally the same model, doesn't really do that much for me. My cutoff for EDC would be what you could comfortably carry on your person that isn't a backpack full of gear. For instance, I have a Maxpedition Mini Pocket that's the sweet spot for me. It's big enough to bring a variety of items but small enough that I could wear it on a belt or throw it in a bag. I can EDC something like that without a sweat, and if it's not on my person then it's in my car with me or in my pack

u/FLHKE · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

For anyone wondering I think this is his backpack.

u/jimmyd1911 · 2 pointsr/preppers

I really know nothing about mass transit across the pond, but snacks and water for getting stuck for a break down/delay?

> I have also purchased a cold pack for burns

Putting ice or cold packs on burns isn't a good idea, the cold can further injure the already damaged skin. Cooling the injury should be accomplished by pouring clean water over the burn. (or does cold pack mean something else over there?)

Edit: adding - How about a tourniquet? A knife wound involving a major artery is possible.

https://www.amazon.com/CAT-Combat-Application-Tourniquet-Time-stamp/dp/B01ITAKG6A/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1526833784&sr=8-4&keywords=tourniquets&dpID=41FzFiZYe9L&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Otherwise you've got a nice set up.

u/Captain_Trigg · 2 pointsr/gencon

For most people, samples and freebies are less of a thing at Gen Con than at, say, SDCC, but it's always good to be prepared.

I bring two bags: A large-ish messenger bag (I don't like backpacks), to hold books and dice, and a full-sized Army duffel for the one day when I'm planning to hit the vendor hall or otherwise buy stuff. Having to lug around a newly-bought giant stuffed Cthulhu that won't fit in your backpack is annoying!

u/3rt41 · 2 pointsr/MrRobot

i don't know if it's the original, but it totally looks like and it's of top notch quality.

u/Jugrnot · 2 pointsr/EDC

I tried. Bought a "little" Condor pocket pouch as an add-on item from my last Amazon order. Turns out, it looked and sounded like a good solution but it's WAY too big for any pocket on my pants.

Mostly I was looking for something simple and small to keep this shit in maybe with extra space for headphones that I sometimes carry. Back to the drawing board..

u/npsimons · 2 pointsr/searchandrescue

I use a Covert Escape chest pack. Holds a Fenix PD35 TAC flashlight, Brunton echo monocular, pro sharpie, pencil, radio, tape measure, mirror, various papers, flagging/trail tape, spare batteries.

Another member of my team picked up a pack that I can't seem to find on Garage Grown Gear anymore; it flips down to give you a little table and has a pouch in back for a hydration system. A few others in my group have the Coaxshers that other's have mentioned here.

Otherwise the group gear we have is the Conterra someone else mentioned.

u/brownsun · 2 pointsr/seattlebike
u/The_Stargazer · 2 pointsr/searchandrescue

With our group, minimum field gear for each person takes around a 50 L pack so we don't wear vests.

Most however use chest harnesses like the following:

https://cascade-rescue.com/coaxsher-rp-1-scout-radio-chest-harness/

https://www.magnumelectronics.com/CMA-Chest-Harness-p/RCH-101M.htm?gclid=CjwKCAjwuO3cBRAyEiwAzOxKsh2pSLWqcejm1v7ATbjSwVRiyQ4XwAdgRzrHCvd4YDvPU9EgO8OOCRoCeN0QAvD_BwE

https://www.ishn.com/articles/101781-radio-chest-harness-by-cmc-rescue-inc

(There are at least a dozen other options out there, just linked some of the most popular examples)
I use this one, however I use the flashlight holster for my Leatherman and keep my Raptor Trauma Shears in the GPS slot. I've removed the removable middle pouch and keep the radio in there.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KN66QRQ/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019MM1NC/

I put some foam in the top and bottom of the big case, and cut a slit down the smaller case to allow the sticks to stick out. The pouch in the front is big enough for the charger. It could, perhaps, fit a spare battery or 2 instead.

Would post more pictures but imgur is being weird.

u/you_and_your_johnson · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

I use Condor 3 backpack

Very comfortable, lots of adjustments to make sure it fits just right.
It has numerous compartments, something that 4X more expensive Kriega's don't.
If I want my stuff to be dry, put it in plastic bags inside the bag, or simply cover the bag with a plastic bag.

u/FOH-Banana · 2 pointsr/livesound

Saw this dump pouch mentioned on here in one of the many posts along this line - it's permanently replaced my chalk bag; slightly larger but doesn't swing, and big enough to easily fit a few folded-up plots too. First one's 18 months old and hardly showing any sign of wear.

Fellow IT guy here: I use the Condor Compact Assault Pack and some Eagle Creek pouches to keep everything organized. I also added a MOLLE water bottle pouch for hydration.

I also have to carry a bunch of tools since I work in ag, I could be working in a manufacturing plant the size of an NFL stadium - trips out to the car aren't really an option.

I have a Rush 72 from 5.11
Helmet (Fullface) fits between the Admin-pocket flap and the main backpack, as long as you keep the Admin-pocket relatively empty, so kinda outside but still protected from scratches and bumping into things. I'm happy with the backpack, quite wide, not too high to bother with the helmet, not to low to sit comfortable, waterbladder pocket and openings are nice on long rides, Molle webbing is always welcome for customisation. It's relatively big which I see as an advantage.

Alternatively you could look here some of them have helmet pockets.

Great idea. Also a drip tip cover to keep lint and dog hairs and curious insects from going into the suck-hole :-)

Here's one that's $7.99 instead of $19.99 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075974Y84/

You can really go with whatever style you like, it doesn't have to say "vape" on it... If I was going to spend $20 I'd get a Maxpedition and even then this one is $15 https://www.amazon.com/Maxpedition-Pocket-Organizer-Foliage-Green/dp/B005CSYUKQ

All my Maxpedition gear has lasted forever, I'd recommend it if you want something that won't wind up with rips or broken zippers.

In the NOT $200+ range:

C-Bag.

In no way stylish or pretty and lacks a belt (can you sew?), but they're solid and will last through most anything. Still have mine from the navy.

Can be found online for $10-20 but make sure it's the military one, not an offbrand.

When building a Bugout Bag, or any survival kit for that matter, remember the rule of 3's; you can survive 3 hrs without shelter, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. So prep along those guidelines, and secure those things in that order. Have 72hrs worth of each.

Personally, I like military (or "tacticool") style bags because they are easily modified, have allot of space, and are usually pretty durable. And they look cool. I use a Condor 3 Day Assault Pack.

Lastly knowledge and training is the most important thing in an emergency since your forebrain won't be functioning that well, so having the necessary skills ingrained into your nervous system will help keep you from panicking, so have a plan, practice said plan, and train regularly.

I think it might be this Condor Compact Pack. I was thinking of getting one, how do you like yours (if that is the same bag)?

u/Mister_Chief_ · 1 pointr/camping

I bought myself a military modular sleep system and it is the best camping thing I ever bought.

The sleep system consists of 3 parts: 30 degree (F) sleeping bag, -10 degree (F) sleeping bag, and goretex bivy cover

Whats great is it is modular so you can tailor it to your environment, camping in the summer? leave the -10 degree bag at home. camping in literally arctic weather? bring them all and combine it! (good for -50 degree weather).
The 3 parts all have separate zippers and snap together nicely.

My favorite part is the waterproof goretex bag (100% waterproof and breathable). Last time I went camping it rained and I woke up sleeping in a big puddle, the sleeping bags (and I :D) were completely bone dry.

Cons are it is a bit pricey (kind of offset by long lasting durability), and it is heavy by sleeping bag standards (10 pounds for the whole thing)
If you have one, you don't technically need a tent, but everyone needs their own

Edit: Link

Double Edit: Also got this ruck which I absolutely love for its gigantic capacity and the fact that it and the sleep system were made for each other. Con being that it is also heavy (12 pounds), so with the sleep system it is pushing 22 pounds, and fully loaded for my last trip was right at 65 pounds. most of the weight was water though. Bring lots of water

I have an MVP2 and KFL and I have to take it apart to put it in and zip it up and the compartments don't really work for anything else. Maybe a bottle or two and a little makeshift rebuild kit, couple coils, cotton, screwdriver. I may have to look into what you have.

Sandbags! Get yourself a cheap military bag from a military surplus store, like this. Fill it with 40-80 lbs, 20-35 kg, of rubber chips from a home improvement store, or sand and tape up the end and use for squats, lunges, over head presses, rows, and anything else you can think of.

Moll II assault pack. You can find them for like $60 on ebay. Heavy as hell, but it has a ton of capacity and you can attach an external sleep system bag.

u/CreativeRealmsMC · 1 pointr/CampingandHiking

I started working on a kit and figure it would be good to brainstorm about it a bit. While it probably doesn't deserve it's own thread, I'd like some input about it if possible since I still have time to change things around before I order anything.

I plan on going hiking/camping anywhere from 1-3 days and potentially even more if possible.
The pack I'm currently looking into is the 5.11 Rush 72 which should fit the bill. It has a pouch for my hydration bladder (which is a must have since I live in an arid region and running water can be rare depending on where you are located) as well as the molle for additional customization if needed.

When I'm out camping I like to have the ability to fry food as well as grill it. I have a makeshift grill that I constructed out of four tent pegs and a grate so I have that covered. In regards to frying I found a cook set that seems like it would be useful for my needs. I doubt that I would bring the entire set with me (besides the frying pan and maybe the pot if I have dried meals) which should cut down on weight a little.

For my sleep system I'm looking at a Aqua Quest 10x7 ultralight tarp, paracord (for hanging the tarp plus other uses if needed), and an OutdoorsmanLab Ultralight Sleeping Pad. I'm not entirely sure that I need a tarp since it rarely rains here but I can see it having potential against sun/wind. Both the sleeping pad and tarp fold up to about the size of a bottle which will allow me to store more gear if needed. I already have a sleeping bag insert and mummy bag if need be but I don't see myself using them for 3/4ths of the year.

Lastly, I'm looking at getting a Mora Companion for bushcraft related activities.

In total all the gear weighs about five pounds which seems reasonable enough. Let me know what you guys think.

u/lethpard · 1 pointr/Firearms

Looks like this would do the job for something small like a G26. Although I can't carry here in California, I might get one anyway to hold all my other stuff. More accessible than a backpack, and I don't like having to bring my tank bag if there's something valuable in it.

as for a flash light what do you think of a streamlight microstream?

hard to say any more if i dont know how you carry all that stuff

also, try to fix one or two days (depends of how much you use your zippo) for filling days, that way you wont need a backup lighter. or just get some kind of a pocked organizer like a maxpedition mini or maxpedition micro, for what i see that is more than enough for you

I really think a Tourniquet should be in every persons kits.

With paragliding the ease at which you can take a fall / have a bad landing and sustain a bad cut is very easy. If you take a bad cut and arent able to stop the bleeding your time window starts to shrink as time ticks on and the only way to stop that is with a Tourniquet.

They are lightweight, don't take up a ton of space and can easily be applied. I personally have 1 in my EDC bag, 2 in my car, a few at home and 2 in the kit I am putting together for paramotoring.

One bad fall or cut in any sort of difficult area for rescue to get to could be the difference between life and death and that TQ will buy you a lot of time if you need it.

I would only recommend one brand and that is CAT and you can get them for around $30.00.

DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BUY A KNOCK OFF OF THIS PRODUCT.

Just pay the 30 bucks and be happy you have a quality product that will save your life.

Condor Compact Assault Pack

The plain colours are much cheaper. I'm picking one up this weekend, because there is a cool camera attachment you can build with PVC pipe and attach to this pack to give a nice, vibration/wobble free, 3rd person view. If you want to start videoing your rides that is. It will also hold a hydration pack if you have one.

Watch the video in this Reddit post if you want to see it. View from the camera starts at about 5:50, but is of an earlier model of the rig with less support so it bounces around a lot. The end is hilarious.

u/beephstewart · 1 pointr/Hunting

Hunting specific ones will sometimes have a rifle/bow holder so that when you're packing out after a successful hunt, you don't have to carry your rifle/bow. Something like this: https://i.stack.imgur.com/GKjqC.jpg

That said, I don't think that's necessary and you can get away with a bit of rope and some loop attachments if you really can't/don't want to carry your rifle.

Personally, I've been using a Rush 12 from 5.11 for the past two seasons ($90), and I couldn't be any happier. Plenty of room, good zippers, tons of ways to attach whatever you want to it, and very comfortable. This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/5-11-Tactical-Rush-Back-Pack/dp/B004D1UP5W?th=1

Look, depending on your campus and living situation, do you really functionally need a backpack at this price? I attended an urban university and I saw the females use everything from canvas totes to luxury purses to get their stuff around. Is this more of a fashion purchase or more of a utility purchase?

I've seen people work fine with $25 IKEA backpacks, while others with long transit commutes needing essentially tactical gear. My point is, I recommend starting university first with what you have already to base your purchase decision on experience, versus speculating. This is especially true if you're in STEM, where the books are heavier at the program start (my calculus book lasted 3 semesters), and at 1500 cu in / 25L these may not be big enough. Maybe it makes more sense to get a nice briefcase if you're in B-school, maybe you're driving all the time and you can get by with a reusable shopping bag.

TLDR: Wait until school starts before your purchase to make a more informed decision

Tangental anecdote: I once knew a guy who bought a bunch of cheap <$5 backpacks when they were on sale at Old Navy, and treated them as disposable. By day he'd use them for school supplies, by night he'd load them up with beer cans and lose it at the party.

On top of the Tenba wraps recommended below, which I also swear by, you could look into a different backpack? What I currently use when cycling/skateboarding is the Evecase Hardshell backpack.. should be under $80 in most places and the dividers are decently configurable (all completely removable). I have this one because of the "rucksack" top so I can pack it all the way up with clothes when I want a 1 bag solution for travel. It's lacking in pockets, but I got one of these to hold my accessories. I've fallen on my back a few times and no issues, it's a sturdy bag.

u/duhduhduhdiabeetus · 1 pointr/EDC

I recently bought a Maxpedition Mini. It is has a noticeable bulge, fitting tightly into a typical jeans pocket, and comfortably in a cargo pants pocket. It fits a decent amount of stuff, like pens, mini tools, a small first aid baggy, some computer cables, flashlight, etc. It could fit more but I like keeping it relatively streamline.

I think its the best size for a pocket pouch. Any smaller and it's less useful than a pocket, any bigger and your needs may be better satisfied with a backpack. I don't mind the excessive bulge in my jeans, nor occasionally carrying it in my hand, but that's just my preference.

I should also add the material quality is remarkably good, and very ruggedly built, I was quite surprised. It feels like a mini heavy duty Northface backpack.

I'm a fan of my cheapo MOLLE dump pouch. It attaches solidly to my belt (with a bit of fiddling), has both a drawstring and a lid, and doesn't swing around annoyingly. I don't use chalk bags because I can't stand having the thing swinging around while I walk.

OP's bag looks nice, though, as long as the belt loops are solid...

This /r/ warned me about the dangers of ... getting more stuffs. I'm really enjoying the Subox Mini. It's works just great for me and is a much more satisfying experience than the 1st gen cartomizer based ecigs I used and gave up on years ago.

My beginner problem was that I ordered a sampler pack. Well, I'm on day 4 and I'm only now just about to finish my first tank. So in theory, just to try all the other flavors (5 more) would take me 20 days.

Ended up ordering two more tanks so I could get some variety. A 1 x Subtank Mini and 1 x Subtank Nano. I figure this way I could use the two minis for my staple flavors and my Nano can be my test tank for future flavors since the capacity is smaller.

And if I stopped there, I'd be a reasonable man. But no. Then it's like, well - would be nice to have a pouch for transporting stuff and maybe I'll buy into the whole use an external charger thing... and while I'm at it I guess I will pick up a spare battery... oh on sale 2 for X price? ... then I guess I should be safe and get some battery cases... etc. etc.

What have you done to me?
