Buy your relative a call blocker.

I use this one. I went from several telemarketing calls every day to receiving 1 in 3 years. All the box does it ask callers to press "1" if they are not a telemarketer. Strange, but it totally works.

This newer one makes adding numbers to your whitelist easier, but you really don't need a whitelist, except to add numbers for approved robocalls you are expecting. If you don't know the number, you can turn off the filter for a short time.

We moved from Switzerland a few years ago. Prepare for a bit of a culture shock. Here are some perspectives and tips after living here a few years.

It'll take some time to get your head around the scale of things and the vast open spaces. Germany is roughly the same size as Arizona but most of it is totally empty.

Except for the summer, weather is generally wonderful – but that's a good time to visit Europe. Get ready for things like this once in a while: http://imgur.com/a/QDQUO

I think Germany might be one of the few countries that Arizona recognizes as having a valid driver licenses. We had to redo our written and practical driving test to get ours. It's as if we had never driven.

Unlike Germany, it is very common for people to buy houses instead of renting and the choices are huge in the valley.

'Patriotism' is a big deal here. If you try to discuss things like Jeff Daniels says here and suggest things could be better, prepare for some folks to get aggressive with you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zqOYBabXmA It's best to avoid it except amongst close friends.

Cars and gas are very cheap compared to Europe. So is eating out except for wine which is expensive (but the American practice of happy hours softens that pain).

The service industry is generally fantastic compared to Europe. Want your garage door repaired on a Sunday? No problem. Need somebody to make your huge outdoor barbecue look like new? Yep, lots of folks can do that for you. Maintain your pool or garden or ???? The choice of service providers and the low prices compared to Europe will spoil you.

Be very careful about what's in the food you buy. Products that look like products you bought in Germany will have a lot more sugar or other stuff added to them for the US markets. It's very easy to put on weight here because of the gigantic portions and what's in the food.

Most banking is about 10 years behind Europe. They don't use IBAN's.

The US health care system is broken. If you are paying yourself, learn to utter the magic words "self-pay" which will get you a big discount (this is related to the practice of jacking up prices with the knowledge that insurance companies will only pay a percentage of that). If you need any health care that is optional or not time sensitive, go to Europe. It'll be a lot of cheaper (sometimes by a factor of 10) and the care will likely be much better.

Massive amount of advertisements direct to the public of drugs for diseases you probably never heard of is rampant. The American Medical Association also thinks it's nonsense. In the world, only the US and New Zealand allow direct marketing of drugs to consumers. Drug prices are super high compared to the rest of the world and US pharma lobbies hard to prevent imports from places like Canada.

The US does not seem to be able to properly regulate telemarketing so spam telephone calls will drive you crazy. Consider getting one of these: https://www.amazon.com/CPR-Call-Blocker-Telemarketer-Solicitor/dp/B00JG02ZEY

Cox is probably the best ISP and their Gigabit is now rolling out (we're getting about 950 Megabits per second on a wired connection).

Have fun! It's a great place to live and you'll realize how much blue skies improve your mood.

Your absolute cheapest option is to get 3 Bluetooth headsets (early 2000s style) and pair them with your crews phones and do a 3-way call. But I don’t recommend that at all.

Next cheapest is to pony up about $180 for these: Referee Headset 3 Referees Talk Same time Football Wireless Headsets Wireless Football Headsets Headset Football Referee Communication https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074W37NQP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kjhPDbHXRFCK3

  1. I wear glasses, and this makes some styles bothersome.

  2. I have an asshole cat that loves to eat cords. Any and all. Will dig them out of my bags. so 100% wireless Bluetooth is a must

  3. Stereo is a must. I only one-ear it if I have to talk to someone.

  4. I tried the iPhone earbud style, and was disappointed with the pairing difficulty, battery life and charging. Plus they didn’t stay in well.

I ended up with cootree They are a little heavier than I’d like, but they aren’t huge and have a great battery life. I ordered a knockoff from wish.com and it’s a bit stiffer than these, but also acceptable.

This crappy looking thing

is one of my favourite accessories. It allows you to switch between headphones and speakers at the touch of a button. It also allows you to turn on and off your mike if you have one and finally it provides independent volume control for the headphones so you don't have to adjust your volume every time you switch between speaker and headphones. I know that you can do all this in software these days but having a button on the desk is just easier and you don't have to tab out of your game to do it. I have used one for over a decade and still love it.

These!! I can't recommend them enough. They are only $20 and I wear them every day. I've had them for 3 years and really no complaints. When I run they stay put, and I can hear ambient noise from cars. When I lift, they are easy to pop on and off to talk to people. Highly highly recommend.

Att limits to 10 blocks and charges a monthly fee which is ridiculous. There are a few consumer devices that blocks numbers that you store but they are rather pricey. Was wondering if there was a better solution with an arduino.

If you can, install NomoRobo on your landline. A part of the program will let you add phone numbers not in the system.

If you can not install NomoRobo you can get a call blocker box like CPR V5000. When they call you just have to push the big red button to block their number.

u/bigbearandy · 3 pointsr/Yelp

First of all, not all those calls may be from Yelp. A typical scam is to convince you that someone is calling from Yelp and when you agree to signup, they sign you up in such a way that they take over your business listing. They then hold it hostage by essentially vandalizing it. Another scam is that they are a third-party marketing service that wants to facilitate you getting your business page "for a reasonable fee." Since these scams usually generate out of call centers, they have plenty of available manpower to continually harass you.

Here's what I usually advise businesses to do (mostly generic advice, because Angie's List, Home Advisor, Trip Advisor, etc. all use these tactics. Yelp is often the most egregious):

  1. Call Yelp's local business line and ask them directly to stop calling you tel:8777679357. That may or may not help. Yelp has so much turnover that you will probably have to repeat this exercise with the next sales agent assigned to your region.
  2. Some businesses have reported to have had success with actually taking the call, taking an appointment, and then whatever the sales rep quotes you, simply come back with "we don't have the money for that." This as #1 reportedly stops the calls for a while. Nothing will get you out of a sales rep's hair faster, however, than wasting their time for zero return.
  3. Do setup your business page on every applicable review service in order to keep someone else from getting hold of it. Then, do absolutely nothing with it. That will eliminate some of the calls because scammers will see they can no longer scam you out of your business listing. You could then do something as simple keeping your phone and address up to date, putting in your business hours, and listing your website as the page for your Google reviews. This is useful because, for example, you won't need someone expensive like me to get your business fixed from being listed as a "tanning salon/HIV clinic" when you run a record store.
  4. For that matter, make sure the information Dun & Bradstreet has listed for you is accurate. Google, Yelp, and most of the other review sites license their information from them, so making sure the information is accurate can help prevent avoid some of the scams, as false information tends to be overwritten by legitimate information.
  5. Explicitly tell the rep who calls you "we don't have the money to advertise on yelp so put us on your no call list." This will usually slow down calls for a while.
  6. Make sure you are on your state's "Do Not Call" list if your state maintains one. Depending on the state, you might find this on your state AG page or a consumer protection page.
  7. When you get an e-mail from Yelp, click on the unsubscribe or do not contact link on the email if there is one. Usually this will be in small print at the bottom of the e-mail. At least respond with a message to take you off their list.
  8. If you did #3 & #4, all corporations must have a registered corporate agent. Find their name and address and send them a good old fashioned paper mail, certified mail, return receipt requested notifying them or your local regulations for calling people on the do not call list and that their e-mails fall under the CAN SPAM act and that they you can pursue monetary damage for each email you receive from them (actual law, that's seldom used, and most people have forgotten about).
  9. If you operate your business on a land line, get one of those incoming call boxes that makes the phone put out the fax identification beep before you answer the phone. Since many of these scams generate out of call centers, their calling system will automatically skip your number. It's old school, but it still works.
  10. You can also get fancier gadgets for call blocking like this: https://www.amazon.com/CPR-Call-Blocker-V5000/dp/B0191XMBV2
  11. There are services that will do the blocking for you, such as Call Control.

Good battery?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XQ8J81R?tag=rav105m038-20&keywords=portable+charger

I have the 6.3 oz 10000 Anker. Last I heard, this is a good ratio of power/weight (1587mAh/oz). Assuming the specs of the linked RAV battery are correct, it has an even better ratio (6700 for 4.1 oz = 1634mAh/oz). Electronics aren't my thing... I suspect I am missing something? Is this a good battery? I have had good luck with Anker, but I don't see a similar option with 2 A input.

u/Logofascinated · 3 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

Seconded. I've been using one of those (different brand here in the UK, and much cheaper, but apparently otherwise identical) for a couple of years now, and even though it's not the most robust of devices it's serving so well that I've bought a second in case anything goes wrong with it.

But what if you want a mic as well? AFAIK, most non gaming headphones with mics cost a lot more than gaming headphones with mics.

this is one of amazons #1 selling headphones, 4 star rating with over 1k reviews, and they're not even $20.

if you get seinnheiser you're spending a lot more, even for earbuds.

Now whether or not the price differences are worth it one way or the other I'm not trying to say, just that if you want a gaming headset with a mic, it seems like you are better off going with the "gaming" brand rather than more name brands.

u/jfalc0n · 2 pointsr/Vive

I've actually wondered if they would do the same thing for Vive cables as they do with the old school phone detanglers

With all the connections involved though, I don't see it as a viable solution and wireless will eventually be the way to go.

u/KCConnor · 2 pointsr/amateurradio

So after a few suggestions I started digging around and evidently something called a "bluetooth gateway" exists that exposes your smartphone's telephony abilities to a bluetooth-connected RJ11 port, that even yields a fake dialtone when the phone isn't active. Supposed to be DTMF compatible.

One example:

https://smile.amazon.com/Xtreme-Technologies-BT-Bluetooth-Gateway/dp/B00135XU7Q/

Any reason this wouldn't work with a POTS-style phone patch, like this?

u/invisiblesquid · 2 pointsr/tmobile

I couldn't find anything that takes a sim to hook a phone to but you could use the current phone with bluetooth to connect it to a normal phone.

You could get a Cordless Phone System with bluetooth or get something like this Bluetooth Gateway. Just leave the phone plugged in by the base station / gateway.

I work out of coffee shops every single day and utilize a bluetooth headset from Plantronics. I can sit in the middle of a busy Starbucks without most people on the other end even knowing. They are a tad pricey and battery life is maybe 6 hours, but I never get complaints on ambient noise.

You're probably biting off more than you'll really want to chew with learning Arduino on a project like this.

Ring signal is 90VAC - 20Hz, which might be a bit tricky for you to detect without interfering with the line. I'd probably use a canned package for that. TI makes one (TCM1520A), but it's SMD. Want to learn soldering on a $12 IC?

Also, radios are a bit of a dark art. I'd probably do this with NRF24l01 radios (get the ones with external antennas, it's worth it if you want range beyond 50cm!), but expect to have to do a lot of screwing around to get them talking reliably.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather just buy some and put them where the phone jacks are?

u/OwThatHertz · 2 pointsr/samsunggalaxy

With respect, I think perhaps you have unrealistic expectations from your phone and situation. I will explain by answering some of your specific questions/points:

> I keep my phone in my bag like many women.

Please note that, by doing this, you are blinding yourself when it comes to the contents of your bag. This is not a criticism; it is an observation that I hope we can agree is accurate: when you grab something in a bag without opening the bag, you cannot see it, which means you risk touching something you may want to avoid.

> My phone rings, I go to grab it, in doing so my finger touches the phone screen and rejects the call. What is going on with this terrible design???

This can happen when grabbing something you can't see. This is not a terrible design; it was designed with a touchscreen that you can, well, touch to perform tasks. You are accidentally performing a task the phone was designed to allow: reject a call with a small swipe. You are doing this because you are not taking precautions to avoid doing so. The phone was designed to be used by people who can see it. Your choice to not look at what you touch is outside the scope of their design.

> How am I supposed to do this?

You have three options:

  1. Look before you grab. If you cannot or will not do this, consider an alternative solution since the current one clearly isn't working. Speaking of alternative solutions:
  2. Buy a special case that covers the screen. There are many options for this; some of them quite stylish or functional. Samsung makes a smart cover that can display information, and there are many wallet cases on the market that will hold your phone as well as cards, coins, or whatever else while also protecting the display from accidental touches.
  3. Buy a bag/purse that has a pocket or slot that holds your phone reliably in the same position, and ensure that you always insert your phone in the same way. My wife has a sling-style purse that supports this. There are literally hundreds/thousands of bags that offer pockets designed for phones, including many purses, backpacks, duffel bags, etc.
  4. Consider purchasing a Bluetooth headset that will allow you to answer your phone without touching it. I recommend the Plantronics Voyager Legend or Voyager 5200.

Any of the above solutions will solve your current problem. It is up to you whether or not the cost of a new case/device/bag is worth the hassle you've faced thus far.

    > Its even worse if I go for one of those ones with the screen wrapped around the edge. Don't they understand that we actually need to pick up and hold these things with our hand??

Yes, they do. And, to be blunt, the phone can be held in one's hand without accidentally touching the screen if you are cautious. If you want more of a gap, buy a case. There are many cases that are classy and high quality, made of materials like leather, hardwood, or other fine materials other than plastic. Samsung knows that many, many people put cases on their phone because they don't want to risk damaging a $700-$1,500 device. Many of these cases are slim, and some cover the screen as described above. For those who don't wish to do use a case, they take care when handling their phone. You may need to re-learn how to hold it. This is something many of us have had to do when buying a new phone: we sometimes have to learn new ways to interact. This can include, when the edge style changes, how to hold it.

    > Why is it that when a call comes through, it has no form of protection from accidental screen interaction, because the grand majority of people will have their phone in their pocket or a bag.

Because most people pay closer attention to their placement of the phone than you have chosen to do so far. In a pocket, it goes in one way and gets pulled out in one way, which means you can control what parts of the phone you touch. You may of course continue to grab your phone without looking, but please understand that most people choose to take a more proactive approach. Your choice does not match most people's when it comes to this. In fact, you are the first person I've heard of who has chosen against using any of the solutions I mentioned above. You can resolve this simply by putting your phone in a pocket or slot in your bag and the problem will go away.

    > This just screams of atrocious product design.

With respect, the design is fine. They simply didn't design it for people who don't look at what they grab when they know it has a touchscreen. It is impossible to design something that matches the use-case for every customer's unique situation, so they went with the most common: that people will look at what they grab or that they will take minimal precautions to avoid touching something they don't want to touch.

    > The main reason I choose Samsung is because of gorilla glass that allows me to bypass a phone case and save money and tacky design.

Again, with respect, Gorilla Glass only makes it harder to break, not impossible. If you drop it on a hard enough surface (such as cement), it will still crack. It is possible that you may be expecting more strength than is realistic from your device. In addition, you are going to find (if you look closely) that microscratches are probably beginning to form on both the front and back of your device. Gorilla Glass isn't proof against damage; it's simply a protective measure designed to extend the useful life of your device. If you want to avoid damage, buy a case. If you don't want to buy a case, recognize that damage is not only likely; it is inevitable, one way or another.

    > Do Samsung even do any testing of their products whatsoever? Do they even understand the basic functions of the device they are making??

Of course they do. Your expectations do not match those of most consumers, and therefore Samsung has not designed a phone that supports those expectations.

    > What do people do? Is everyone just using a case even though it really ought not be necessary because of how tough the device is?

Yes, most people use a case if they face issues like yours. No, it is not reasonable to characterize a case as "ought not to be necessary" because this varies wildly depending on the situation. People drop their phones. People carry sharp objects in their bags. People, because of these factors, plan ahead. It is possible that you may wish to consider doing so as well. This is not a criticism; merely an observation. I hope my recommendations are helpful.

The reddit HiFi guys recommend a good pair of headphones and this It is what I use if you have heard me on comms and when I switched people kept saying how much clearer I was.

Amazon has some good prices on headsets, can't vouch for either of these but a quick search turned up an inexpensive Plantronics and an el cheapo 5 dollar mic.

It doesn't have to be expensive for everyone to hear you :)

Yes. I use ref comms that can be bought on Amazon for $185 for a set of 3. A lot of the refs in my area have gotten them, and they make life way easier when doing upper level youth games or high school. It's very convenient to communicate decisions and talk through things on the comms rather than having to walk over and make a scene. Also the CR can focus more on the action in the middle when there are tight offside situations. The comms also help you look more professional. I find that it adds a level of respect from coaches and players.

I recently ordered these and have been happy with them so far. Ear hooks will prevent them from falling off, and removing one of the silicone earbuds allows in plenty of ambient sound for situational awareness.

I disagree with everything on this list. Here are my counterpoints.

  1. The weight feels awesome, and I never seem to misplace my phone with the battery case on.

  2. Wealth is relative, but $60 is not that much money. Give it to yourself as a birthday present.

  3. Plug your phone in at night, wake up with both completely charged. Your comment seems imply the battery is charged first, which is not true. Plug your phone in > QuickCharge 3.0 the phone first > once that's done it charges the battery with 2.1 amps. Takes 4.5 hours to complete charge both the phone and battery from 0. When you charge your phone off the battery it's cable charging at 2.0 amps, takes about an 1.5 hours, just like off the wall.

  4. This is simply not true. The ZeroLemon battery case for the S7 Edge provides ample protection, just like a Spigen case with the lip (I have one). The Samsung one does not. Again, what you said is just wrong.

  5. Wireless charging should be avoided since it heats the battery, it is also much slower. I never use Samsung Pay, they don't even accept my bank.

  6. I bought a pack of these for aux cables, but use my wireless headphones anyway so hardly even need the extenders.

None of the reasons he listed have had any practical effect on my use of the ZeroLemon battery case, so take his opinion with a grain of salt.
u/SugarbearSID · 2 pointsr/running

I have 3 pairs of these and I love them. They are about the best cheap headphones you can buy (assuming you're not an audiophile or anything). The only problem I have with them is that they fall out of my ears a lot when running, so I use them for other things and use the sports version from TaoTronics for running I would also highly recommend them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BV2BPVS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes in theory, but I'd try one first and see if it makes any difference since you're limited by BlogTalkRadio's quality.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001S2RCXW/

> Is there a better way to record higher quality audio than using blogtalkradio, that would work with PC/Android/Iphone simultaneusly?

The best solution would be a multi-ender (everyone records locally and then you sync the results later) taking Skype and phone calls using SkypeIn.

I can't speak to that Bose product, but that's way more money than you need to spend. I would recommend just getting a standard Bluetooth heart rate monitor from a reputable company like Wahoo.

I just got finished shopping for some bluetooth headphones. I'm waiting for them in the mail, but they look like they will work for your criteria:

Taotronics Bluetooth Headphones

These have a clip for some built-in cable management. It looks like a much better clip than is normally available.

I find the ear hook earbuds by far the most comfortable style in general. They are also more convenient for one ear listening (just hook one to your shirt and you're good to go).

Budget - Prefer to stay under $60, but might be flexible

Source - PC at work or my phone

Requirements for Isolation - Full isolation, I'll be using these at work. Doesn't need noise cancelling, but I don't wanna hear everyone else's phone calls and conversations.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes, at work in an open cube environment. Want to keep the outside noise out and the music in so I don't bother others.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Primarily, bluetooth or other form of wireless. I keep getting the cord caught on so much at my desk I need to go wireless. Prefer over-ear, but I do have a large head and bigger ears. I'm not against in-ear but they do get uncomfortable after a while.

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced. I'm not an audiophile but I don't want to be hearing the music mixed with static.

Past headphones - Sony MDRNC7 currently, but the noise cancelling doesn't work anymore, and the cords get in the way. Bose QC25, which fit over my ears perfectly, but I don't want to keep $300 headphones in the office and again, cut the cord. Sennheiser RS120 are uncomfortable, hear a lot of static, and got complaints from coworkers that they could hear exactly what I'd hear. TaoTronics TT-BH10, i use these to run in and getting a second pair for work would be my fallback, but just looking for something a little more comfortable. I just bought some Sound Intone P6 based on price and high reviews, but after testing them at home they don't sit well on my head and they may as well be speakers because people around me could hear everything. I installed the Bluetooth stack on my work PC yesterday and they sounded clear, but this morning they sound very muffled and washed out. I'll grab my running headphones and see if it's localized to the P6's or all Bluetooth.

Preferred Music - Usually rock or new wave, but for extended sessions i'll listen to Pandora Journey mixes.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Just a pair of decently priced wireless headphones I can wear at work while at my desk. I'm not composing music so they don't need to be professional grade

I have that system and have to say it works pretty well.

The phone can pair with 4 cell phones I think, but only two can be enabled to ring through to the phone.

Once paired, you can download the cell phone's contact list to a directory separate from the other cell and separate from the base. Contacts can be obtained from any of the handsets, so you only have to to it once.

For my wife's blackberry, it automatically connects if bluetooth is enabled on the phone. It's really handy when the phone is on the charger and you're in another room. Since mine's an android, I never turn bluetooth on..

Weird, this article says ATT DOES offer it (both free version and upsell version) but maybe not in your area?
https://www.consumerreports.org/robocalls/best-ways-to-fight-robocalls/

For landlines (if via VOIP) it looks like you can do Nomorobo (as mentioned in the previous article) as well.

My relative also has a box that initially simulates a "number not in service" signal when it picks up which discourages most of the robocalls. Takes some getting used to from a legitimate caller's perspective though.
I'll see if I can find a link.
Edit - I cannot find a link to whatever device my relative is using but it must be one of the small boxes powered by the phone itself. Sorry.

Apparently there is a whole cottage industry for these things, with this linked one being one of the most popular and well-reviewed. I would do this if the budget allows.

I have a friend who had someone calling from multiple numbers, both his cell and landline (he also lives in the sticks with no reception).

Two approaches. First, cell. I only know the iPhone method, I don't know how this works on Android. Turn on Do Not Disturb. In the settings you can set to allow calls from Everyone, No One, Favorites (what I use for when I sleep), Contacts, or any group you custom make in your phone book. If you select Contacts it will allow anyone you have in your phone to get through without a hitch, like those Doctors. Essentially, your Contact list becomes your whitelist. Not in your phone? Automatically sent to voice mail.

Second part, landline. There are specialized call blockers that not only block annoying spam calls but some also let you set up whitelists so only calls you want come through. If someone calls and they aren't on either the blacklist or the whitelist they get to leave a message:

SENTRY 3.1 Call Screener, smart active blocking, block all solicitor calls, election calls, robo calls. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019ERMS90/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_PPl9yb27EAVCA

Not sure if this is a viable solution for you, but I use a call blocker at home and it has made a world of difference. The call blocker sits in-between the phone line and your phone/answering machine, and it will intercept and suppress any phone numbers that you don't want to ring through. You just hit the "Block" button to store an incoming caller ID into the blocked list, and the device will prevent that number from ringing through from then on. Works great, and has eliminated nearly all of the unsolicited calls that I used to get.

The exact model that I use is no longer sold, but Amazon offers several models. This one seems to be popular.

We have a landline. We don't get any telemarketing or scam calls on the line because we use a call blocker which only allows phone numbers from a whitelist to ring though. It's a magicjack phone line, it costs us something like $20/year.

The number one use for this is because my wife leaves her phone in her purse when she comes home, which she puts down as soon as she gets in, making it impossible for me to contact her when she is home and I am out.

The number two use for this is to find our own cell phones by dialing them when we are out.

And in a very far third place my mom uses it when she comes to visit from overseas (and hasn't gotten a prepaid US sim card).

I'm pretty sure I'm a customer for the echo connect, we use the echo a lot already.

My experience with Bluetooth in general is that the connection should be okay for most activities. There are occasional orientations where you'll have signal dropouts (like if the receiver and phone are directly opposite your body), but overall, they're pretty easy to use. They're more expensive, obviously, and even in the best of circumstances, there's just more that can go wrong. Running out of battery can be a huge frustration too, especially if you're half way through your run. (A lot of BT headphones aren't great about telling you the battery is low until it's super low.)

That said!!! It sure is nice not having a wire. Bluetooth headphones are just more versatile through more activities. For instance, I have a lot of running pants and shorts that don't accommodate my phone, so on the run I bring a cheap pouch. But that's an extra thing to remember if I'm just going to the gym. Also, if I'm riding stationary at the gym or crosstraining on an elliptical or training for summer backpacking on the stair machien, I tap into gym's wifi and watch Netflix. Way nicer not to have a cord dangling.

u/BatPixi · 1 pointr/PS4

If you have headphones already but do not have a mic.
You can buy a vmoda boom mic. It will connect to your headphones and plug into your controller. That will cost $40 cad for the mic but you get a better mic for chatting then anything in the $35 headset range.

This works only if you already have headphones with a detachable cord.

If not. Something like this will suffice. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B012DRSI7Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1506209856&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=ps4%2Bheadphones&dpPl=1&dpID=51aGs5OspHL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

Xtreme Technologies Xlink BT Bluetooth Gateway - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00135XU7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_aEyOAbF3MVDGP

This connects a analog phone to a cell phone over Bluetooth. I got one to test with an old alarm. Didn't work for the alarm (my guess is the delay in sending tones) but otherwise worked as advertised.

You could save 25¢ a day for a month and get decent mic/headset.

Edit: For all you downvoting dickbags.

$11.75

$9.99

$10.17

$3.36

Tons more around that price range.

Or you could save a WHOPPING 50¢ a day and get $15.99

Point is, having no mic is no excuse. A 12 year old could save enough for anything that could do the job for chatting on a ps4
