Any electret PC microphone will work, just make sure to disable the menu item that lets PTT trigger from the socket. I too like a headset but I keep one of these mics tucked away with the rig just as a backup.

I have the Clear One Personal Speaker Phone and that has been working pretty well for our group ranging from 1-3 at a table and the rest of the group online.

Jabra Speak series are quite good we have found

Plugging one of these into your controller might work: http://amzn.com/B002EQ6E9E

Though I don't know if you can keep other players voices coming from your TV while using it as the PS4 would probably assume it's a full headset.

There are a few web articles about having mini 3.5mm phone mics on the controller, but finding one labeled CTIA or non-iPhone has been difficult.

I can confirm this one does NOT work. 😡

Keine Ahnung mehr wie das Teil heißt, aber genau die Anleitung hatte ich mal in der Hand!

Das ist doch so ein Konferenztelefon.

Not sure if the link will work to the mic, but I'm using a GoPro with an adapter to fit this mic, which is mounted in my helmet. Insten VOIP/SKYPE Mini Flexible Microphone for VOIP/SKYPE - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002EQ6E9E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_JWWVDbZ4VQHB2

What you're looking for is called a boundary microphone, which are those little hockey puck mics you see used in conference rooms.

Cheap examples made just for your use case would be the Plantronics Calisto 610-M and Jabra Speak 410 which are ostensibly conference call speakerphones, but it's the type of device you're looking for. The MXL AC-424 would be a good USB boundary mic that doesn't need an audio interface.

Just be aware that boundary mics are good at picking up room echo, so thing like rugs/carpet on the floor and soft furniture will help a lot.

If you haven't bought the webcam yet, I'd actually get the Logitech C925e over a C922 as the C925e has the exact same optics and sensor as the C922, but in a better mechanical package (built-in lens cover anybody?) and costs less.

Using a Clearone XAP 800 that you can find on eBay for $30-ish bucks shipped.

Paired with MPC-23 Beyerdynamic condenser mics (omni directional) - it makes a pretty mean microphone array! Now to expand Arthur's vocabulary and capabilities!

Been documented a few times before:

When I said "quality of the speakerphone" I meant "quality of the microphone".

As you said, based on what I'm seeing if you want a high quality Bluetooth speakerphone it's going to be a dedicated device (no alarm clock) and it's going to cost over $100. Something like this Plantronics.

Heres a good budget headphone option.

Here's a mic, any mic will do as long as it's detachable.

And here's and audio and microphone splitter. Make sure the splitter you end up getting has a dedicated audio and dedicated microphone input.

This is the braided cable and heatshrink. The cable to manage the separate cables, also you can personalized the color, and it looks cool honestly. There's also some heatshrink it just seals the end of cable sleeves.

And finally here's a video on what you'll be doing with the above cable and heatshrink.

One last remark, the price of all this starts at around $30 dollars or so. The rest of the price is up to you on what headphones you end up choosing.

Headset suck and budget is even worse. So I would ask whats the budget? Off the top of my head the Monoprice modern retro is something to the tune of $20 and the massdrop mini mic is about the same but you could grab a 3.5mm mic like this and double sided sticky tape it in place and get an extension cord for it.

u/Caustic-Echo · 1 pointr/headphones

I have Turtle Beach 800x headphones for console gaming. But the microphone isn't the best. Would it be possible to use the 3.5mm jack to plug in a small boom mic?
